What happened? MSNBC did it again. The left-wing network invited Al Sharpton, a notorious anti-Semite, on Morning Joe to explain why his fellow anti-Semites shouldn't be given a public platform.
Seriously? Yes.
Why? Because Al Sharpton supports the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party supports him.
What did he say? Sharpton was asked to discuss reports that former president Donald Trump had dinner with Kanye West, the rap artist whose ongoing mental breakdown has featured several outbursts of virulent anti-Semitism, and Nick Fuentes, the dough-faced 24-year-old incel who spouts anti-Semitism like a toddler making farting noises.
"As a preacher, I can tell you that if you just preach to the choir, if you turn around and there's no one in the audience or in the congregation, you and the choir become irrelevant," Sharpton said. "And I think that that is what [Donald Trump and the Republican Party] are doing. They've emptied out the church, so to speak, because people that really do not want to go that far and be perceived [as] or in fact be bigots, biased, anti-Semites, racists are not gonna continue to allow them to preach to the choir that they think extols this."
The anti-Semite went on to suggest that Republicans who tolerate anti-Semites "must deep down inside have some of that bias and bigotry" within themselves. "Why would you tolerate this unless there is some hidden bias in you?"
Sort of like how MSNBC tolerates Al Sharpton? Indeed.
Context: Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough, a former congressman, sponsored a March 2000 resolution condemning Sharpton's "vicious verbal anti-Semitic attacks directed at members of the Jewish faith," as well as his "fierce demagoguery [that] incited violence, riots, and murder in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York." The Crown Heights riots of August 1991 constituted one of the worst outbursts of anti-Semitic violence in American history.
"Talk about how Oppenheimer in South Africa sends diamonds straight to Tel Aviv and deals with the diamond merchants right here in Crown Heights. The issue is not anti-Semitism; the issue is apartheid," Sharpton said at the funeral of Gavin Cato, the seven-year-old whose accidental death instigated the riots that Sharpton proceeded to inflame. One attendee at the funeral carried a sign that read, "Hitler didn't finish the job."

Former President Donald Trump began broadcasting widely-discredited conspiracy theories about MSNBC host Joe Scarborough after being prompted by documents given to him by Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, according to former White House Communications Director Alyssa Farah Griffin.
In a transcript of a deposition Ms. Griffin gave before the House January 6 Select Committee, Ms. Griffin revealed the origins of Mr. Trump’s promotion of the debunked claims — which posit that Scarborough, who represented the Florida congressional district now represented by Mr. Gaetz from 1995 to 2001, was responsible for the death of an aide who worked in his Fort Walton Beach, Florida district office.
Ms. Griffin was describing the chaos of Mr. Trump’s freewheeling West Wing when she told Committee investigators of the incident involving Mr. Gaetz, who she said she encountered as he and Ohio Representative Jim Jordan waited to visit with Mr. Trump in the Oval Office.
“And I'm waiting outside of the Outer Oval with Gaetz and Jordan ... And Jim and I are just shooting - - shooting the crap. He was an old boss of mine. And Gaetz has this folder. And I said, you know, what is that?” she said.
Ms. Griffin recalled that the folder contained “conspiracy theories about Joe Scarborough murdering his intern” and said she tried to keep Mr. Gaetz from bringing the documents into the meeting, but was unsuccessful.
“And I said, Please do not bring that into the West Wing -- or to the Oval Office. We were literally outside of the Outer Oval. And just - - as I'm saying that - - I said, You cannot put that in front of the President, he - - he gets ushered in. And sure enough, within - - by the next morning, the former President is tweeting wild conspiracy theories about a cable news host, you know, allegedly murdering his intern,” she said.
The aide, Lori Klausutis, who was not an intern, was found to have died in July 2001 from a head injury sustained when she fainted from an undiagnosed heart condition. Critics of Scarborough, including liberal filmmaker Michael Moore and blogger Markos Moulitsas, intimated at the time that the Florida Republican had murdered the young woman.
Two decades later, Mr. Trump revived those long-discredited claims in a series of tweets attacking Scarborough, who despite his extremely conservative record in Congress has become a strident critic of his former party and the ex-president.
In one missive, Mr. Trump claimed there was “a lot of interest” in the story and suggested the aide was “a young marathon runner” who “just happened to faint in his office, hit her head on his desk, [and] die”.
He added: “I would think there is a lot more to this story than that? An affair? What about the so-called investigator?”
In another tweet, Mr. Trump claimed the matter was a “big topic of discussion in Florida” and urged his followers to “keep digging”. He later asked: “Did he [Scarborough] get away with murder?”
Scarborough, who was 900 miles away in Washington when Klausutis died, sharply criticised Mr. Trump for reviving the story. Speaking on his MSNBC programme at the time, he suggested that Mr. Trump “take a rest” and “get checked out.”
“Maybe let Mike Pence run things for the next week. You are not well. …It would be best for you politically. It would be best for the country medically. It would be best for the Republican Party politically,” he said.

Republican Party leaders are physically fighting with each other in Michigan. 🍿
"He kicked me in my balls": Michigan Republicans brawl at local meeting GOP gone wild: "When you see me taking my glasses off, I’m ready to rock"
As reported by The Detroit News, Wayne County Republican James Chapman was trying to get into the state party's meeting room at the Doherty Hotel by jiggling the door handle when Clare County Republican Party Chair Mark DeYoung opened the door from inside.  "He kicked me in my balls as soon as I opened the door,"  DeYoung told the outlet while being interviewed in the ER, adding that he had suffered a broken rib and intended to press charges against Chapman.  Chapman, however, said DeYoung was the one who swung first after threatening to kick Chapman's ass. DeYoung denied that, though, claiming Chapman squared up first — rushing DeYoung and slamming him into a chair. One of the individuals involved in the fight gave Detroit News' Craig Mauger a warning for any would-be future Michigan brawlers:  "When you see me taking my glasses off, I'm ready to rock," Chapman said.
It's easy to see why Republicans are no longer running Michigan.
Although the dust-up took place outside the actual meeting room, members inside got an eye full.   "From my clear vantage point a kerfuffle occurred outside our meeting room. We recessed for 5 minutes. It had nothing to do with the content of our meeting," said committee member Kristin Lee.
Donald Trump says that he may not take part in the first GOP debate. That's a shame because it would be great fun to see him and DeSantis get into a ball kicking and face scratching melee on live TV.

I definitely agree with Joe on this one, and I have been saying for some time that MAGA should just move to Russia. After all, their idea of an authoritarian conservative paradise already exists there.
Trump would do well in Putin’s Russia. He’d fit right in with the other oligarchs who lick Putin’s boots. There probably hasn’t been a POTUS who was more sympathetic to Russia and other authoritarian leaders than Trump. He certainly idolizes Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping. I’d bet he probably thought that Castro was a pretty cool dude, too.
Those of us who lean left have long been told that we can “like it or leave it”, and so I extend the same courtesy to the right wing. If America is becoming too “woke” for their tastes, then by all means head out the door and find somewhere else more to your liking.
It has been my experience that, despite all of the performative acts of “patriotism” and the apish chest-beating that so many on the right like to do, no one hates this nation and its people more than conservatives do.
So, yes, let’s all chip in and purchase a one-way ticket to Moscow for DJT and all of the other MAGAts we can squeeze into a 747. Let them lean first-hand what it means to live in an authoritarian society like the one they seek to establish here in the USA.
Good riddance!

You know, the thing is that Trump supposedly tells an ally they have to pay their bills, yet what's been Donnie's MO for the past few decades? Scarborough is right: this isn't even a good lie by Trump's standards.
