Tangled Salt Marathon - Queen for a Day Part 2

So this is the continuation of my review for Queen for a Day. My personal favorite episode in the series, but it does have some flaws that needs to be pointed out.

Summary: The King and Queen are stranded in the blizzard and Eugene and the Pub Thugs must rescue them. Meanwhile, Varian rushes to ask for Rapunzel's help freeing his dad, but Rapunzel tells him that she can't help him because of the blizzard, leaving Varian feeling betrayed. Rapunzel orders the evacuation of the island, but then remembers about a legend told earlier by Xavier about an underground machine with the power to change the way of the blizzard. 

The Show Tells Us Things that Contradict What We’ve Already Seen

No they didn’t. 

If it was up to Frederic you’d all be jailed, hanged, or banished. Don’t try to pretend now that the King is somehow better than any other leader when it’s his crack down on crime is what causes 75% of the conflict in the first season. 

Rapunzel gave you a second chance. She’s the one to thank. And she only did that because she befriended you, not because she thought the system unjust.

Look at All This Time Spent On This Very Important Note, No Way the Writers Would Dumb Enough Not Follow Up On This Finely Crafted Set Up.

Why is Season Three So Bad!!!!?????

Evacuation is a Dumb Plan to Begin With

So throughout the episode Rapunzel is being pressured into evacuating the populace off the island. With the idea that, as an island, they’d be cut off from food supplies and whatnot. 

Which is beyond dumb because they’re currently inside a castle. Castles are built specifically for withstanding sieges. They should have all the supplies and room that they need right there for weeks if not months. 

Everyone is acting like risking exposure is somehow a better option then just staying put, inside the comfy palace.

Also keep in mind no one knows that this is a magic storm. They think it’s just a regular blizzard and it’s not even been one day of snow. You’re telling me that King Frederic is such a poor leader that can’t even keep the kingdom stocked for one day? 

You know what. I'd believe that. Corona is a shittly runned country that can’t handle emergencies. 

Cass Can Clearly See and Hear What’s Going On

The show will later act as if Cass didn’t know the truth about what happened between Raps and Varian, but that’s a load of bull. She clearly sees and hears Varian talking about the rocks and his dad. In short, Cassandra winds up looking like a horrible person because of poorly thought out framing. 

Rapunzel Has More Options Here But She Doesn’t Explore Them

Look Rapunzel being inexperienced and not knowing what to do, leading to her making poor decisions; is a perfectly fine set up for a conflict. And the choices she makes are understandable. 

However the show acts like these were the only options available to her; stay and help her people or go with Varian right then, and that’s simply not the case. 

Here’s a list of things she actually could have done.

Send someone else with Varian. Cass isn’t doing anything right now. She’s not needed for the evacuation, as evidenced by her going with Raps to the demantius device later (a task that she doesn’t actually help much with) and she already is in on your secret about the rocks and is friends with Varian. Alternatively there are other guards you could have sent with him, but Cass is the best option for the job.

Keep Varian with her until the storm was over with. He could have helped with the demantius device and then you both could have gone to Old Corona afterwards. 

Order the evacuation and then actually go with Varian. Once again, Rapunzel isn’t honestly needed for the evacuation, as evidenced by her taking off to find the demantius device later. She also. at the this point, doesn’t know if the demantius device is real nor does she have a plan in place yet to use it. It would have been a worse idea, yes, but it’s still an option that she failed to consider. (Unless they came back to the device after failing to save Quirin, cause it’s fiction and the writers can decide the time frame however they want) 

Go check up on Varian after fixing the storm. 

None of these options would have saved Quirin, obviously, but any one of them would have given Varian the emotional support that he needed. So while it’s understandable that Rapunzel did what she did, it’s still not excusable. 

Therein lies the failure of the show. It tries it damndest to excuse the protagonists at every turn even when they do quite clearly mess up, all while shifting all the blame onto an easy scapegoat. The series then acts like, we the audience, should just blindly accept it’s manipulation as fact. 

The Show Implies That the Heroes Just Threw A Child Out Into A Deadly Blizzard

Rapunzel’s ‘orders’ falls on deaf ears and that’s honestly on her. She’s in charge and ergo she needs to keep her guards in line. It’s up to her to give clear and concise orders. 

Cause what we see is the garuds dragging away a 14 year old begging for help and next we see him, he’s back out in the snow storm. The snow storm that’s been deemed a national emergency and could potentially kill people stuck out in it.  

If the show didn’t intend for us to think that Stan and Pete just chucked the poor kid out the door, than it needed to establish that Varian left of his own accord. But it doesn’t do that. So everyone is Corona just winds up looking like an bunch of asses instead. 

Rapunzel Breaking Her Promise isn’t the Point

The show gives way too much focus on Rapunzel’s promise. Because not being able to keep a promise is understandable and something that everyone experiences. No, in truth what Rapunzel does here is much worse than that. She fails at her responsibilities as a leader, as an adult, and as a decent human being. 

Her promise to Varian doesn’t actually matter. Her friendship with Varian doesn’t actually matter. Her even knowing him doesn’t matter. 

Had Varian came to her as a stranger with this same problem and she failed to help him, she’d still be in the wrong. This is a child in need that she ignores. A subject that she is in charge of and responsible for.  

Once again, I’m not hating on Rapunzel here. I’m fine, glad even, for the protagonist to make a mistake. But the show fails to even acknowledge that what she did was a mistake to being with; hence the real problem with the character.

Let’s Talk About ‘Daddy’ and How The Creators are Full of It

OK so there was some debate about whether or not Varian actually said the word ‘daddy’ in this scene. It was confirmed by one of the creators, Chirs, that yes, Jeremy Jordan (Varian’s VA) ad libbed this line and that the writers decided to keep it. 

Which, in of itself, is fine. This scene still hurts like hell and is the most powerfully emotionally hitting scene in the show. It’s awesome. 

The problem is the Chris’s reasoning for including the line. 

According to the creator, Varian saying the word ‘daddy’ means that’s still immature and not ready yet to know whatever secrets Quirin is keeping from him. 

OK first off, calling you father ‘daddy’ does not make you immature. What a stupid thing to say. My siblings and I are all in or 20s, 30s, and 40s, and we still call our father ‘daddy’ as well. (We’re quite spread out in ages) 

Secondly, what secrets!? We’re never told what Quirin is hiding from his son. Varian never learns the truth of any earth shattering secret that involves him. 

We get lots of behind the scenes hints that the writers prematurely cut Varian out of the plot in later seasons, despite his conflict not being resolved and the fact that he was presented as being integral to main plot.

We’re never given a real reason why Varian’s story so poorly was edited out and any excuses that the series creators, Ben and Chris, have given is nothing but that same BS as this line here and I’m going to call them out on it.   

Xavier and Monty Should Have Been Streamlined Into One Character

Xavier is given no real introduction and yet he’s suddenly an important part of the main overarching plot. Nor do we ever get any backstory for him or insight into why he does what he does and knows what he knows. He’s just there to give exposition and that’s it. 

Meanwhile Monty is given a whole episode worth’s of introduction and insight, but then proceeds to add nothing to the series afterwards. 

Just imagine if Monty and Xavier were made into one character. Introduction, insight, plus actual story importance. As an added bonus, it would have forced Raps to deal with someone she doesn’t get along with in order to save the kingdom. Which would counterbalanced the ‘friendship saves the day’ bs of later seasons along with the idea that anyone who doesn’t kiss Rapunzel’s royal arse is a villain.

Once Again, Why Do you Know this Legends and No One Else, Xavier? 

It’s lazy writing. You need to either set these things up beforehand or give reason for them later.

Pascal’s Story Makes Far More Sense After This Scene

The consequence of showing things out of order is that context is lost. 

I Love the Reprise but it Gives the Game Away too Early

The writing team can’t decide where they want Varian’s fall into villainy to start and where to have it’s ‘twist’. This is suppose to be foreshadowing, but having it then undermines the ‘surprise betrayal’ in The Alchemist Returns. Not to mention that Varian doesn’t actually do anything truly ‘villainous’ until Secret of the Sundrop anyways. 

In short this scene winds up being pointless and the insistence of having a shocking reveal later winds up being redundant. Which in turn then becomes a poor excuse for not featuring a episode dedicated to Varian’s side of the story. 

 Conclusion

I still love this episode, and I’m saddened that most of the series does not live up to this quality nor its own hype. On its own Queen for a Day is 40 mins of wonderful entertainment. As part of the an on going story it’s a bitter reminder of the disappointment to soon follow.

Unpopular Opinions: Fandom Edition

Hey none of you asked but I’m here to deliver so here are some unpopular opinions for the fandoms I’m in. Spoilers, duh.

Marvel:

I don’t like Natasha. Or Steve.

Pepper Potts is a top.

As much as I love Loki, his death was nessicary in Infinity War.

Steve should have killed Bucky in Civil War. He was a threat, plain and simple.

I ship Ironstrange/Supremefamily.

Clint should have died in Infinity War.

I love Tony Stark with my whole heart. (Not an unpopular opinion but you needed to know that)

I’m not happy with the end of Endgame.

10 years in the making....for you to do Thor like that?

Not because he’s fat or because he’s dealing with trauma, that’s totally acceptable.

What’s not acceptable is them making Thor into the butt of the joke because he’s fat.

I love the Antman movies.

I’m totally not biased because I loved lost.

(I’m kinda biased)

Shuri is the best Marvel character and would beat Tony Stark in a battle of wits.

(I’m so gay I love her.)

With as many years as Marvel has had the MCU, I am disgusted at the lack of diversity within the movies.

Like it’s 2019 and we JUST got a female empowerment scene in Endgame.

Like I want a gay superhero.

(We have a disabled one thank god. Love you Stephen.)

And don’t give me that Valkyrie/Captain Marvel BS because they never blatantly stated or showed it in their movies.

I want an Asian superhero bitch.

A superhero who is Muslim/Islam/and religion besides Christian.

I think that, as much as I hate Natasha and Steve, they should have been the ones that Bruce first sees in Infinity War. I know it set up the whole “earth is closed today” sequence but it didn’t make sense and was OOC.

I love Stephen Strange and he’s never done a single thing wrong ever in his life I would die for this man.

I like MCU Peter Parker over the origional movie Spider-Man.

Fight me.

I also like the Tony Stark/Peter Parker better than the Uncle Ben/Peter Parker so @ me.

The 100

I don’t ship Bellarke that hard.

Like yes, I think they’re obviously being groomed to end up together. I know the show runners will make them official before the end of the series. I’m not mad about that, I just don’t really care to be honest. It’s like, too obvious.

But there are some cute bellarke scenes

What they did to Monty was bullshit but what they did to Jasper was worse.

I feel no guilt whatsoever in saying that I think that killing all of Mount Weather was what they should have done from the beginning.

Yes, even the kids. Because if you kill their leaders, the men and women will fight back. The colony would have been left with a handful of adults, and a bunch of kids if the origional plan had worked. This is doomed to fail and honestly just killing them all would be better than seeing them kill eachother for food, power, whatever. If that makes sense.

I think that Finn deserved to die.

I think that Murphey deserves the world.

Charlotte fucking killed Wells. Yes she’s young but she knows better than to kill someone. Maybe not kill her, but we all know that Clarke wouldn’t have banished her like she did Murphey. Clarke has a gender bias because Murphey didn’t do anything and she wouldn’t have punished Charlotte as hard because she’s a young girl. I rest my case

Even though what he did was bad and wrong, I don’t think Murphey should have been banished. He’s right. They were all compliant and even excited when he was being hung, but when it’s a little girl all bets are off.

Like Bellamy brought the whole hostage thing upon himself because he fucking tied a noose around Murphey’s throat.

Again, not that what Murphey did was right. He didn’t have to act like that. Jasper didn’t do anything to him.

Also this segment is getting long but the show writers and everyone else just casually forgot that Murphey was TORTURED? Hello? Are we not going to acknowledge that?

I shipped Clexa with my whole heart.

Another actually popular opinion: what they’ve done to Raven’s character this season is bullshit. Her only role is Abby’s moral compass. This is the same girl who shuttled to earth in a Tin Can. She’s better than this.

What the fuck??? Happened to??? Jordan???

Like Madi stabbed him

And then they proceeded to not talk about it for like four episodes and then casually mention it in passing like “oh he saved Pria that means he gets to live”

Like they set up his character to be really important this season.

But he’s not.

I think that Murphey/Emori is the best ship.

I also think that Either Murphey or Emori or Both are secretly double crossing the Primes. (This comes out before the finale of season six)

They didn’t have to do Onyia like that

The opening of season three is so weak that I actually stopped watching the show around that time (I’d been watching since the beginning of season two) because there’s just nothing there in the first like 10 minutes and I couldn’t do it.

Maybe I’m just impatient but it’s bad.

I think that Octavia did the best that she could with what she had available and I think that’s she’s not a bad person for what she did with the fighting pits/cannabalism. And I know that if Bellamy had been in her place, he would have eventually done the same.

Kane was a whiny bitch in season 5.

Why’d the kill Diyoza(I can’t spell) like that?

I liked Joesephine. It was really fun to see Eliza Taylor be able to get a new character in the show. Also props to her for that last episode with pretending to be Joesephine and being Clarke at the same time.

I called the dude being Gabriel from the first time I saw him you peasants.

Octavia’s redemption arc this season is beautiful.

They did....that.....to Kane. I’m angerey.

Lost In space

Not enough people watch this show. (The Netflix remake or the origional)

Seriously guys it’s a good show.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with it.

I love Don West with my whole heart.

I love Dr. Smith with my half heart.

I love the robot with my two hearts.

I love Penny Robinson with all the stars in the galaxy.

I love all of them okay.

There are no plot holes, no inconsistencies, no faulty science and anyone who says (or proves) otherwise is wrong.

It’s confirmed for a season two which should air in like the December-February time area.

It’s a Netflix show so you can binge the entire season in like a weekend.

Seriously watch it.

The Umbrella Academy

Five x Delores is weird.

Luther x Allison is illegal.

Klaus deserves all the push pops in the world.

The handler is hot.

The Comission killed Dave.

Luther is the most boring, Unorigional, straight white guy character I’ve seen in a long time. I hate him so much.

Allison is a queen but her character is brought down by her weird relationship with her brother.

Tbh if I was Allison you know I’d be telling my kids that I heard a rumor that theyd go the fuck to sleep. Like that’s a good thing. Idk maybe I’m just a sociopath.

Istanbul not Constantinople being played over a scene where five murders a squad of Commission people is the greatest cinematic masterpiece ever conceived by man.

“Where are you going” “to save the world” “oh is that all?” Iconic.

None of these are really unpopular but the show writers seem to think differently.

Many people haven’t watched it

It’s like if The Walking Dead and Zombieland had a baby....and then the baby did a line of cocaine.

It’s wild.

Watching Garnet die ruined every sliver of hope I had in humanity.

I have a special place in my heart for this show because it’s the first show that me and my mom would stay up and watch the new episodes air every Friday. It brought us closer and I can’t thank the cast and show runners enough for this.

So maybe I’m biased, but you should watch it.

Having Murphey switch from being an anti-hero to a villain back to an anti-hero and then to a regular hero, amazing. Astonishing. The peak of human existence.

Even though he’s not entirely human.

What color is Murphey today? Is he pale, discolored, grey, blue, red? We don’t know!

Roberta Warren is the Black Goddess main protagonist that we deserve.

Addison Carver is a functional Bi.

10k is tragic backstory central but other than that, his character development is pretty lacking other than him persuing love interests.

None of these are really unpopular opinions but I doubt any of you have watched the show. It’s on Netflix. Watch it.

Murphey and Lucy have a realistic enstranged father/daughter relationship and it’s heartwarming.

And then they killed her off to save him.

Honestly if you name a character Murphey they can only be assholish bad boys with a good heart deep down sorry I don’t make the rules.

Also if you name a character Murphey I will love them with my whole soul.

I’m so mad they cancelled the show.

I’m infinitely more mad that they named that disgrace of a show Black Summer and claimed that it was a prequel....but it didn’t follow the same cast and had they not advertised it as a prequel I would never have guessed.

Black Summer gives totally opposite vibes than Z Nation does. I get that black summer is supposed to be the worst time that the zombie apocalypse ever had, with cannibals and no food, but it feels like s completely different show.

It’s like if The Walking Dead claimed that it is a prequel/occurs during Shaun of the Dead.

Like....no. They’re....no.

Anyway watch it it’s good.

Detroit: Become Human

Connor isn’t the best character.

This is an unpopular opinion post deal with it.

Markus has to be my favorite.

Honestly this game is so good and not even just graphics-wise.

It’s the same robotic sentience story we’ve been fed for years, but this time it’s from the Android’s perspective and this time all they want is to be free. That’s it.

I fucking hate North.

Hank is literally if Rick from Rick and Morty were serious.

The only correct way to play Connor is to walk the thin line between deviant and regular A.I. Without leaving out Hank. The correct thing to do is make Conner deviant at Jericho.

The only correct way to play Kara is to protect Alice with every fiber of your being. Meanwhile, get close to her. Do not get caught, even if that means dissappointing her.

The only correct way to play Markus is to lead a peaceful revolution. Also tell North to fuck off.

The border patrol guy who either gets Kara and Alice caught or knowingly lets Androids cross the border is the best character. Forget about Markus, this guy sees either “oh fuck androids are killing people, maybe we shouldn’t let this one cross the border” or “Androids just want to be free and are peacefully fighting for this. Let this one and her daughter through.” I love him.

Let Out The Bear He Just Wants To Say Hi :)

Even though I think Conner is overrated by the fandom, I do like him.

But he’s not a pure innocent cinnamon roll either.

It depends on how you play, but he has really violent options so stop the “He wouldn’t harm a fly” attitude.

But he is cute.

The home screen for the game is revolutionary (no pun intended) and I hope future game follow suit in making the first impression of the game something cool.

Stealing clothes/money/the fence cutters is literally okay.

Also if you put Kara in white hair you can die.

If in your first actual play through you got the Kara lives at the recycling plant ending but Alice dies, you can die too.

I’ve never actually seen the steal money and go to motel option play out because it’s stupid, especially if you don’t steal clothes. Like that’s begging to be caught.

Stranger things

Billy Hargrove is bad and just because he’s abused does not make what he does okay.

Harringrove is gross and I’m gay so my opinion counts as double.

That being said, there are some really cute fics about Harringrove and I can see the appeal of “good boy falls for mysterious bad boy with a dark past and trauma”

I’ve said I’m gay this whole post because I say it a lot, but I don’t like actually labeling myself but I like girls and boys and everything in between and I say I’m gay kinda as a joke when girls are hot.

That being said...

Steve Harrington calling himself Daddy made me feel things.

Strange things.

Haha get it I’m making a joke to distract you from the daddy part.

Steve Harrington is a good person now, but he was still an asshole before and he can still be criticized for his past.

I used to be hardcore Jancy but after season three I feel like Nancy needs and deserves a break from boys so she can figure out herself and who she is now and what she wants to do without the weight of boys and boyfriends constantly around her.

That being said i still don’t like Nancy because she was flirting/slept in the same bed with Jonathan whilst obviously having feelings for him while she and Steve were still a thing. It’s not cheating but to me it’s close enough to raise red flags.

Robin is perfect in every way.

I don’t like Jonathan. He’s creepy in s1, fine in s2, but then is s3 he doesn’t do anything to or about his male bosses when Nancy is being made fun of because she’s a woman.

Seeing Nancy’s class priveledge/Jonathan’s male priveledge clashing was so cool tbh

Jim Hopper, with all his faults, is still a caring dad.

Plus him threatening Mike made me laugh so hard sksksksks

Steve Harrington deserves the world and then some.

Low key I really want s4 to give in insight on his family life.

I also want him to get an apartment with Robin.

Robins cute tbh but for half the season I though she was a Russian spy. I guess I was wrong.

Mrs. Wheeler shouldn’t sleep with billy (not that she can now) because it’s wrong, but the reason she wanted to is because her husband is so boring and she gave up on her dreams to be his perfect housewife. She wanted a challenge with Billy. Instead, she should leave her pushover of a husband and find someone better.

Anyway Steve Harrington deserves the world.

Emma believes that someone else on her tribe has an idol when she is the one that has the idol. She believes there must be two idols on one tribe.

I hope six guesses are enough in, honestly, do not know the timeframe. As I was doing this, I also had to talk to 3 others and not appear suspicious because they are not the people who kindly take people of my quite weird assholeness. We are all people, and I am just trying to keep us all from tribal because everyone is afraid of that happening again. The fact that I can not discuss this with anyone sucks a lot!

I’m kind of annoyed because I know there’s a group in heartless tribe that knows each other from previous games and obviously works together. No way you’re all online til 3AM for no reason. It makes me nuts because I feel like I’m fucked from the start and I’m just waiting to get taken out. There’s no way to infiltrate a group that’s already bonded over these games. It’s hard to strategize when adaora isn’t online, Emma is Emma, and the other four are working together. Kevin and Colin sort of act like I’m someone they want to go to the end with, but I’m 99.99% sure that’s absolutely false. It’s too early to feel this defeated. 

Permitted who I believe I am allied with to vote me out, but asked to be told before they do (if need be), so that I can give one the immunity idol to them.

Believe this is a 3 vs 4, also potential of 5 vs 2. I could be on either side of that. I actually do hope we have tribal so this can be figured out to be 100 % honest. This is how I currently feel and this all is subject to change. I do not understand this. But I love the idol hunts and tribal group Immunity Challenges! I expected and was excited for a spreadsheet and we get a random color challenge. Pure luck really. It could have been done in 4 tries, 3 if you are that brilliant. I wish the tribe would talk more. It is annoying to me that there are so many individual private chats and also do enjoy the individual time to bond with those who are willing to do that work. To be frank, I did not mean to post the initial post into Tribal Chat, but I did. 🙋‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️The next one's were for a reason. I do think that the game is going well. Just wish TC more active & wondering if going to next challenge I wonder if Tribal Council will be more honest this time. Think it was BS they all did not have to respond as well. That's it. All STB and you know, I do not know what anyone is saying.

This edit logic has some of the tribe talking. Some are assuming the wrong things from what I see, including myself (until I clarified how this is edgic may work, which still makes no sense). I don't know who to believe or trust anymore, so I am glad to be having a medical procedure that allows me to not be awake for 4 hours! 🙌😴😇 People are straight-up lying to one another, so this is interesting. I have tried to be quiet, make some relationships, cultivate others, and still am lost. All this is subject to change and stuff...

Well holy shit. After two days of failed attempts, I was able to get an idol! First I found the Ends of the Earth Keyblade, which gave me half of the Darkness Idol. Today, I found the Destiny’s Embrace Keyblade and completed it!! It basically gives me the power to force a vote between two people 💃🏽 Hopefully I don’t get voted out with it lmao Other than that, I’m really glad we won immunity last night. I was SO confident I had the best score with only 4 guesses, but props to Dylan for somehow doing it in 3! We destroyed Nobody Tribe and that’s all that matters. 

IM SO HAPPY WE WON IMMUNITY. I have no time to deal with tribal, so I'm glad I don't have to. I have no idea whats gonna happen on the other tribe for their vote. Honestly, I haven’t been as active as I should with my tribe. I’ve just been super busy and I feel like I’m going to get voted out just because I haven’t been in contact as much. So I just finished the Mastermind Immunity challenge and finished and only took me 5 guesses. Now, I'm hoping my tribe pulled through so we can get another win. And I'm hoping everyone else did worse than me so I can win the reward

Ellie is in a really good spot. She doesn’t intend to be loyal to John and Josh. A lot of people like her, and want to work with her. For this round, she shouldn’t dictate votes if she wants to lengthen her stay in the game. Her closest ally seems to be Kim

So we lost, BUT It’s great for me!! I need to see who I can trust/work with early on and tribal is the only true way to do that. This game can really flip on a dime. Just a few hours ago i was all for getting Jordan out as the easy vote , which i should have known was too good to be true , and now I'm working with Jordan to get Josh out because he's trying to get me out . Fun .

WELL. My bad. Did not do good. Hopefully the target will not be me because I didn’t do so well. I think the misfits alliance is leaning towards Jordan. Which I agree. As long as it’s not me 😅 I’m going to talk to Jordan and see how’s he’s feeling/what he thinks. 

So we lost the challenge...I thought I did great and I ended up tying for one of the worst scores. Idol hunts haven’t gone well, I believe someone has one already. I know Josh is going for me..I’m pretty sure John and Jessica are with him, and hopefully nobody else...I’m trying to get a solid with with Ellie, Kim, Daniel and myself. I don’t know if it’s going to work out but it’s my only plan this far. I’m expecting at least 3 votes at tribal

A split vote begins to be talked about between the Misfits with John and Josh spearheading the discussion. Josh volunteers to get his name thrown around to keep people’s scent off him and John’s intent to vote Jordan.

Josh causes a lot of unnecessary chaos by spreading lies and deceit. He throws out everyone’s name to everyone to get people against each other. He tells Kim to target Ellie, and tells Ellie that Jordan said that. Daniel rats out Jordan to Josh, making him suspicious

Tonight was hectic. Everyone was scrambling around trying to figure out who the target is. Everyone's name was brought up. I didn't hear mine but I'm pretty certain Jordan threw it out. Ellie was very suspicious tonight as she was online for a long time but was not responding to any messages. I brought up an idea to blindside her but I quickly shot it down because it was too early to make that big of a move. We eventually settled on voting Jordan. John, Daniel, Kim, Ellie, and Jess are down. I just hope they stick to their word and that Jordan doesn't play an idol. This has been so stressful

So we lost the immunity challenge today..not good. Especially because I tied at performing the worst with another tribe mate. I am very concerned with how things will potentially go tomorrow. Josh has had it out for me for days now, ever since I assumed him and josh were partners. It seems most of the tribe is on edge as far as who to vote for and who to side with. My plan right now is to group together Ellie, Kim, and Daniel, to vote out one of the other three. This has been a freakin roller coaster, I go from thinking everything is fine and dandy one minute, then the next everything is screwed. I feel like I can trust Kim and Ellie, Daniel I am praying is on my side because if he isn’t, it may be all over for me..my worst fear is that everything will to my way but then an idol could be played to screw my plans. since josh is going for me I’m assuming he will think I’m going to get him too, therefore I intend on targeting John or Jessica in case josh wants to play an idol. We are about to go to tribal... I was very close with Josh and was going to vote out Jordan because that seemed to be the consensus. That was until Kim and I solidified a deal and basically figured out Josh was playing everyone. Kim told me Josh made a final deal with him and after much talking, we realized Josh was putting everyone against each other. So we figured out a plan for tonight and we are hoping no one plays an idol.

what the HELL is going on here first jake pulls out an idol (which i was JUST gossipping with jordan pines about him having it because i know just how he plays and would ya look at that!) i was so ELATED to read he did that, thinking ok, i gave him a fair warning those false beauties we're gonna get us all, and they voted him unanimously so surely he'll take one of them out and ... Welp we are on the bottom... shit. I'm going to be honest, this week has not been great for me. Like my real life is slowly going to shit and now my fake life has been screwed. Thanks Jakey... you dick. All is not lost, because out there in the distance is the iconic duo of Jordan Pines and Kendall Duffy AKA Sarah and Woo. You know, Sarah and Woo. And that other time they were sitting on the same log laughing at something Tony said? That is stuff of legends man. Okay so genuinely Jordan meant to say Tony and Woo but he accidentally said Sarah and Woo and now this is our legacy. The plan is to play it both ways. As this isn't going to be a simple Pangonging. Obviously a beauty is going to leave but before we all go, they are going to try to get rid of some of the brawns. The goal is that the beauty isn't me and the brawn isn't Jordan. I know you're legally not supposed to trust Jordan Pines but it's never really been the case for me? IDK maybe it's cause he always gets sniped before I betray him. Maybe it's cause the one time he voted me out it was cause I committed suicide by cop. But for the most part he's a realible ally. Also this would be a shitty and stupid lie right? Like he knows I don't have an idol, literally everyone knows that! Trying to get in my good graces is a terrible fucking idea, Jesus. Right now I'm just going to market myself and the others as a free vote. I know it's not realistic to get Augusto and Amir to the finals but it's all I really want. We've been through shit together. okay so i haven't done a good typed confessional in a WHILE and i have thoughts. so i'm basically really frustrated with a lot of this tribe and i don't know how to vocalise it. but first the positives.. the fact that i have an alliance of me/autumn/jake brings me such a rush of seretonin, i love them both and i will fight my hardest to get the three of us to the endgame of this game. i think rn my goal final five is me/jake/autumn/adam/devon, adam because i dont think he is playing this game as well as he necessarily thinks he is, but i also think we have trust and he is someone who is scoop-up-able? and then devon i get good energy from him and his straightforward energy i'd like to see in the endgame. the rest however.... whew. well actually Liam is fine, he is sweet and doing his best. of the rest tho... hmm. kendall's energy doesn't quite land with me, her dry sense of humour doesn't really work with me ha so i feel like we are gonna struggle to gel as allies (especially since we are either side of the weird brawn/beauty divide). augusto is very chatty but its a lot of chatting for... the sake of it, like his social game is to just overwhelm you with lots of messages but its nothing of substance. amir i actually like!! he has me-energy, i would actually like him to stick around (he is a good shield too). duncan i am still sus about from premerge, but i'd love to mend that bond because i might need duncan?! tj and jordan both give snake energy... tj is suddenly back to being non-commital with me and it frustrates me, i wish he would like... talk to me KJLSADF. jordan is the same i always get weird energy from him and he was in that weird alliance during the swap and didn't tell me... feel a f10 boot for jordan ideally. honestly its just frustrating i feel like everyone on this tribe is so cagey and like just thinks talking a lot is social game?! and its... not. but yeah ideally first four merge boots: kendall, augusto, tj & jordan (tho the last two is open to consideration if they stop being shady to me KJSDFA).

I just got immunity in the auction and I feel like I wasted a chance to get some long term for my game. Because I wasn't going anywhere this round (I don't think), but like at least it prevented some other people from getting it which allows me some room to make a couple moves without too many repercussions. In terms of social standing, I truly think I have put myself in a good spot. Jakey and Jordan have both said they want me to be their number ones; Devon also has said the same and has told me that he holds the Double Vote. I know that Autumn and Duncan are both willing to work with me in our alliance with Jordan. Liam and I have bonded quite a bit. And I get good vibes from Augusto, Kendall, and Adam. So the big question now is, my target at the moment is Amir... how do I get him out? I need to break up Amir, Augusto, and Kendall so that I have a better chance of working with Augusto specifically down the line and hopefully Kendall as well. I have a feeling that Adam will push for one of the trio and the trio will push for Adam or Jakey, which should give me plenty of ammo to try and make that move. Correction to my last confessional... the trio can't target Jakey because he's immune. Suck it!

i really... really just got my second idol huh... i cant believe it. i bodied that idol hunt, i sat their trying like six hundred combos for the morse code, got that demonic tile and did that evil hashi puzzle... im so happy hehe okay so ignore my super jaded confessional from yesterday im back in again akdjfsaf im literally on a reign of terror doing harsh confessionals then apologising but askdjfafa we move. so yesterday was a real busy day, we had the auction, i called lots of people and... i got myself a little bit of bling. with the auction first, it was really interesting. i misunderstood the "idol block" so i snatched it up, but then it just blocks hunting for the idol versus playing one, but for my mental health am glad i have that. i also got the vote revealer, which was like a mid-tier thing that im happy to have just got a second thing tbh. then i had like six hundred calls kaljsdfas. i called with devon first, he is really sweet and we had a great talk tbh? i really like him and hope we stick together. i did then go on to have very similar conversations to the one i had with him, with augusto and amir, but i felt best about the conversation me and devon had tbh. augusto is sweet, and very social. like i'd prefer to vote him to kendall, but i like him ha and feel like we have a bond now. i think i could be a good number moving forwards (i wouldn't want him gone 11th/10th). amir is also very nice, we are calling tomorrow, and i just dont think targetting amir is in my best interest rn? like what's the end goal in doing that. so then right now. i think i want the merge vote to be kendall? i feel like if we let that trio slide, its scary, and i have a closer connection to amir and augusto of the three. i think then the brawn tribe can turn inwards, but im eager to push the brawn tribe like "implosion" until after that trio is taken apart (to the style of splitting up alex c/jones/mo from montenegro) also otherwise i got an IDOLLL, or rather my second hehe. i put in a LOT of work to get it, i translated morse code, i did a demonic hashi puzzle, i got the 2048 tile. i earned this idol and im very proud. now i have two idols so have such wiggle room. and i'm building bonds across the tribe... im not saying im set, but... im covered for the time being

okay so im a clown and got frustrated with jordan for telling jake he was hesitant to keep me in... jordan just told me he has been downplaying our connection to people like jake KJLSDAFA so i fully just bought into nothing.

i am starting to feel my standing in the game rise, like im building bonds... everywhere. like im starting to become set to go the distance because i have lots of lowkey social bonds and because im not overtly super strategic i dont think i seem as threatening.

okay so ideal merge bootlist: f4: me/autumn/jake/devon, adam (5th), liam/jordan (6th/7th), amir (8th), duncan (9th), augusto (10th), tj (11th), kendall (12th) and then at the moment the order i would vote for people as a juror (bringing this back from montenegro): jake > autumn > amir > jordan > duncan(?) > devon > augusto > adam > tj > kendall > liam because i think jake has already idoled someone, and to make it to f3 after that is super impressive. autumn is a queen, has real strategic savvy and will have made moves to get to the end. amir is very much like autumn and him making it to the end. jordan is an amazing player and tbh deserves a win. duncan is really in game-mode and id love to see him in FTC (what a role reversal), devon has a real rootable underdog story, augusto is a social king, adam needs to pick it up beyond just targetting beauties to get my vote. tj/kendall are question marks for me, and then liam i LOVE but he doesn't necessarily 100% want to be here so i would be tentative to vote him. but its crazy because i think: jake/autumn/devon/adam/liam/jordan/amir/duncan... all trust me to some extent that's... such a large portion of the tribe. so i need to be careful im not scorning people too much, but this is a real work-able situation i think ahh

Interesting development that both Kendall and Amir want/wanted to call and talk to me. I just finished talking to Kendall (she is so sweet, I enjoy talking to her!) and I definitely see an avenue where we work together, but I am concerned that there does seem to be a guard up, which I totally understand given that we haven't been on a tribe together. We both kind of mentioned that Liam has been flirting with the idea of asking to be voted out which gave me an avenue to not say that the name I would throw out is Amir. I do hope that Liam isn't adamant about going because I truly do care for him and want him to stay in this game. I picked up a great ally in him after the initial Brawn vote and losing him now won't be fun. It does dispel this Brawn alliance people probably expect to be happening, but am I at ease with Liam going to facilitate that? But if that happens, that delays the fight between Adam/Jakey against the trio of Augusto/Amir/Kendall, which in fact would be good for me as it allows me to slide by for another week... ugh, decisions decisions. Why do I feel like this first vote could determine the rest of my game?

So Liam still wants to be in the game, which is good. I can easily work with that. Yes, I feel awful telling Kendall I thought the vote would be Liam, but now that he seems to want to be in the game, I think I can work with Liam possibly staying. I still have to wait it out and listen to what some others think, but I may be back on the board of going for one of the trio. I know Jakey wants to do Kendall, but I don't want her to go just yet. Eventually, yeah probably, but I do want her here.

Whew merge merge merge. Tonight is the first night to play my legacy advantage, i could block a vote but honestly im probably not going to. Id be pretty caught off guard if i was the target tonight and I think id rather let it fester to an idol, whether for me or someone else later tha depends on my game play. Last night was the auction and boy did jordan win big, i got a whole vote steal that im pretty sure no one knows about. I created a believable (i think) lie about what i bid on and spread and thankfully adam came out the gate with a super fact checkable lie about the auction so i think most of the heats on him. For the vote it could be a beauty butpart of me really sees liam going home just cause people are so scared of how many brawn are in the game, and like thats fine i can deal with that. I am slowly building my relationships to the point where i can get the ball rolling enough to do some damage. Ive been biding my time in the shadows for most of this game, but Jordan Pines is about to rise!

this round is what we call a mixed bag like the auction? hated that girl. I saved my money and all I got was a drawing like sis this is the Survivor Auction not an actual auction ;-; but other than that, I’ve felt really good about how I’ve been playing? Like always, I’m trying to be the Belle of the Ball and have everyone want me as a date yknow? Currently, I have my main allies (Amir, Kendall, Devon) but others (Autumn, Duncan, Ali, Jordan, Jakey) have expressed that they want to work with me which is cute! I don’t know who to trust tho ngl but yay? My main priority is getting my footing in the game this first round and hopefully getting out a Brawn. The main two I want gone from the Brawns are Liam M and Jordan Pines. Liam M is the easier sell and I don’t mind that, Jordan Pines is someone I want gone soon though. I also want Adam gone if at all possible sometime soon but we shall see! 

i take it back jordan and duncan can go again...? literally like both of them preach up and down that we are gonna work together, then pull shady stuff like saying me and adam are a duo in their alliance chat of gremlins with love of my life autumn and professional robot tj?! literally just because y'all linked up at swap and think you are gods gift to alliances doesnt mean me and adam are a duo? i just talk to him and actually give him a chance in this game unlike like... 99% of this cast. now i cant really defend adam at all or people are gonna try and snap my neck? which sucks... adam was in my endgame but because i see him having a losing finalist arc versus me being a duo with him. so that sucks but well. it just reconfirms to me that i have to trust autumn. which is not hard because i literally love her sm and i want to see thrive in this season. so i am praying it works out. this cast continues to prove that being a muppet is a contagious disease.

im absolutely LIVID right now.... i dont even know where to begin ?? let's start with this: are we playing SURVIVOR or are we playing america's next top CLOWN?? because based on how silly all these people are it doesnt seem like survivor. this is my 3rd time playing this game, and never once have i ever made it to a merge where .... every single person wants to just settle on one name since they're the "easy" vote.... and yet that's all im being told with people wanting to vote liam?? at this point i hope the plan is to vote ME out and everyone is just telling me liam because i dont want to play the game with a bunch of feeble minded school of fish who have no backbone. first of all everyone has wanted to do nothing but play that ANNOYING ass "ooh its been quiet i havent heard a name yet" game for the entire day. We're 3 hours before tribal and all the sudden everyone wants to sing kumbaya and vote for liam??? because he's not around, which guess what it does make him an easy vote but....this is survivor why would you EVER vote that person off in the merge right away, he can literally go next or any other time. "oh its too soon to rock the boat" "we have to get one of those brawns out" "yeah we just have to go with the brains on this one" ??? too soon??? at merge??????? to play the game of survivor??????????? at this point im about to try and just tell liam with the very slim chance that he has an idol and can use it on himself because how am i supposed to try and play the game of survivor with people who dont want to play its frustrating. **update as i was writing this i just had a call with jordan pines, im not as mad anymore after smoking weed with him for like 20 minutes ahfdd but its BORING LIKE WAKE UP PEARL LETS PLAY SURVIVOR...i probably made a big mistake pushing those 3 to as many people as i just did but whatever hopefully it at least planted seeds with people and people actually try and approach me in the future rounds with that idea again in other news, the auction happened and i got the power to go to the prejuror island and plead my case with them regarding this next vote, no one was even there so that was lovely i felt like i was talking to myself so nothing new there, i peeped connor was online but didnt have anything to say when i showed up, much like how he never had anything good to say in the game and that's why he was voted out, but ANYWAY. im pissed i made a case to them to vote for amir and now no one will even make the move with me. I also bought a challenge advantage which i wanted MOSTLY so i could just tell people thats what i got from it because to me i suck at challenges anyway, so it shouldnt paint as much of a target on my back and i want people to know i dont have one of those really scary ones (and i also want to keep making people think amir or kendall has something good), but ali did confide in me he has the vote reveal which made me trust him a lot more, and i dont plan on revealing to anyone what he told me so anywho, tribal is NOT gonna go my way tonight, i tried to make a move but liam is unfortunately completely unsaveable because he's not around even though i do like talking to him personally, i opened the door to people and it just got slammed in my face but in this game you have to learn when to drop it so im hoping i dropped it fast enough to not be a future target because people could still very well vote me out next because they'd be taking out the only real beauty left!

tj, jordan and duncan are all going home as soon as possible. they really think they are slick and they are not. they think they can badmouth me, my game and my position and it wont get back to me. there is a word for it and it is clownery. one of them is going to get to stepping really soon. maybe jordan.

Now that we're told the right day... Well, it looks like most people are back on the Liam Train, and damn I really don't want this move to be made. Like, yes, it will set me up well moving forward: less "Brawn Alliance" hype, more battles between Adam/Ali vs. Beauty Babes, and a decent amount of social mobility for me. But this just feels like a giant waste and I don't know how to stop this at this rate.

First of all: YAASSSSSSSS WE LOVE MAKING THE MERGE!!!! I’ve gotten over my Scott grief and actually am pretty content with him out of the game since he was a big contender to win it all. The time I’ve been able to spend talking to people has been amazing and I feel like I genuinely have a good relationship with everyone on the tribe besides Liam, which is why I’m happy to see him go. He’s a really nice guy but he’s not adding anything to my game. I expect the vote to go 11-1-1 tonight. I could always get idoled out or blindsided and that would suck but you try your best and do what you can! I think I have EXCELLENT relationships with Amir, Jordan and Autumn and that’s like the kingpins of each group so if someone comes after me hopefully I’ll hear about it one way or another. I need to get my head out of Amir’s ass though, I’m most excited to play with him and we called for literally 2 hours and 50 minutes yesterday. I’ve always thought he was cute and intelligent from when I was in the community before and I fangirled getting to play with him. I like to think I’m in a good position in this game so far, we’ll see as the game progresses. One last thing? ADAM!? SIS?!?! EVERYONE IS AWARE YOU LIED TO THEM! YOUR ASS IS GOING HOME NEXT! PERIODT!! Well, here we are? This is where my game was MADE back in Guyana, however, I clearly don't have a solidified alliance I am willing to take to the end at this stage. We have 5 Brawns, three former winners, a person I voted out in Guyana, two people that voted me out, and a person I tried voting out last round all still in the game. Still, I am going to make the best of it. In the short period of time this game has provided, I have been able to make REALLY solid connections. Not all of them are 100% genuine, but the hope is that they're enough to gain trust and information that I can use to advance my game.

VERLA: COME ON BOARD – PRESIDENT OF the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), Verla De Peiza, is telling all who want to be part of her leadership to take on the ruling Barbados Labour Party Government to get with the programme. She was speaking Sunday evening at a DLP Christ Church zonal meeting entitled A Cry Of The People: A Thorough Analysis Of Our National Situation, part of the Errol Walton Barrow centennial celebrations. The meeting was held at Deighton Griffith School, Kingsland, Christ Church. De Peiza told members of the party: “Get on board; get with the programme. What I am looking at from up here has made the grey hairs of the last 18 months worth it. “I make no pretence and you will certainly agree that it is when you are down and you are being kicked that your true mettle and personality comes to the fore. “Some run for cover but others come out fighting. You tonight represent the fighters,” she said to loud cheers from the audience. “What we are witnessing in the last 18 months has been a slaughter of the people on the altar of economic expedience, to the point where the cries of the people are rising up on a daily basis. PLANS IN PLACE FOR CARONAVIRUS – With the death toll from the coronavirus rising to 81 worldwide, health officials are assuring Barbadians that they have the equipment and expertise to keep them safe. Head of the Infection Prevention and Control/Infectious Diseases Programme at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr Corey Forde, said Barbados was ahead of the curve when it came to preparations. “Barbadians can be reassured the Ministry of Health and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital are prepared for any eventuality. We are watching the international [news], we are having briefings and discussions and I think it is important to keep up this interaction with the public,” he said after a tour of the Infectious Disease Facility in Enmore Complex, Martindale’s Road, St Michael, yesterday afternoon. “I know often when things are new, and with social media, that people become afraid. It’s okay to be afraid but better to be prepared.” Forde said they were not only ready but had been all set even before the worldwide alarm was given. (DN)

LETTERS OF CONCERN – The Financial Controller of the cash-strapped Transport Board yesterday admitted she was forced to write the general manager about a number of financial anomalies and irregularities that had been noticed between April 2015 and June 2018. Felicia Sue, who also acted as general manager for a short period from July 2018 to 2019 after completion of a special audit, made the revelation during a brief 48-minute testimony before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Senate Chamber. Accompanied by her attorney Chester Sue, the accountant was questioned about the accounting practices at the state agency and what would have led to an inability to maintain a proper fleet. The questions were posed by PAC chairman Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley, Members of Parliament Colin Jordan and Sandra Husbands, and Senators Lindell Nurse and Lucille Moe. Sue’s testimony surrounded what would have led to a number of memos being written to management. LOOK AFTER YOUR FOLKS AT WORK – Organisations have been urged to pay attention to the health, safety, wellness and general welfare of their workers, Minister of Labour Colin Jordan appealed today. He spoke at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between his ministry and Pharma Wellness International Inc., at the Warren’s Office Complex. Jordan encouraged owners, operators and leaders in both the private and public sectors to pay workers the same attention that they pay to their equipment. He said: “If we are going to be that careful about equipment, inanimate objects, then we have to be many times more careful and concerned about the human beings who work in an organization. “And so, we are calling on organizations to pay attention to the wellness, health, safety and general welfare of their workers. “First, because they are human beings, and they deserve that respect and that attention, and secondly, they are the key ingredient in productivity. “And so, if people are to be productive for your organizations, then you have to take care of the people in your organizations.” Pointing out that his ministry was seeking to have a combined but balanced approach to the workplace, he said the formalizing of the relationship with Lennox Prescod, Chief Executive Officer of Pharma Wellness International Inc., was part of Government’s decision to focus on these areas. “We have decided that we would partner or work closely with organisations whose mandate is the promotion of wellness and health and safety of workers across the board. “Government recognizes that it has an enormous responsibility, a responsibility to all of the many thousands of workers across the country,” Jordan said. “It also recognizes that it cannot fulfil every aspect of its responsibility on its own, and so it has to partner with organizations of like mind, organizations who see as… their reason for existence the carrying out of some of the various mandates that rest with Government.” Prescod, in thanking the ministry, said Pharma Wellness, which was started five years ago, was a concept he had while working at the Barbados Drug Service as its director. “I used to make the point that just giving people medication was not the answer to dealing with chronic non-communicable diseases,” he said. Noting that Pharma Wellness goes out to companies to conduct the programme so people do not have to come to them, Prescod added: “We go to companies; set up a little clinic with nurses and we do all these basic tests, baseline tests. “You get your blood pressure, blood sugar, HBA1CU, which is critical because it tells you if you have diabetes, pre-diabetes or no diabetes.” While revealing that in 2019 some five to 600 persons in the private sector were looked at and their progress in the programme analysed, he stressed a message being pushed in the programme was that “diabetes can be reversed”. LT GAY SPLITS INTO FOUR – Pupils of the Lawrence T Gay Memorial Primary School, currently closed because of air quality issues, reported for classes at four temporary locations today. Class 4 students started classes at the neighbouring Grace Hill Moravian church last Monday. But Class 3 students went to the Jackson Seventh Day Adventist Church, Jackson; Classes 1 and 2 reported to the Christ The King Anglican Church, Rock Dundo; and the reception and Infant’s As and Bs are at the Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist Church, Eden Lodge, St Michael. When Barbados TODAY visited Christ The King this morning, parents said they were not only satisfied with the location, but also with the fact that their children were back in classrooms. “I am comfortable with the location because I know the place and my daughter seem to be comfortable. I drive so getting her here would not be an inconvenience for me,” Yonette Moore said. Students of Lawrence T Gay Memorial Primary and their parents outside the Church of Christ The King, one of four locations where the students have been relocated. Meanwhile, another parent who only gave her name as Lisa said she was happy to see her son being taught again considering that classes were last held at the Spooner’s Hill school on January 14. Lisa said:” Yes, as parents, when you go to work you would tell the children to read a book or go over something they already did in school, and sometimes they do it, sometimes they don’t. “But I am telling you; they do not do it the same way as if they are in the classroom with the teacher. So I am glad that the Ministry found these places to put the children. “I am hoping that the environmental issues are rectified because the reality stands that some parents have two or more children at the school and running around to these different locations is going to be challenging for some of us.” Grandmother Marceline Cyrus also agreed that it was about time the students return to the school. But Cyrus said she was aware that a number of parents were initially concerned about how their wards would get to the respective locations. “If you have your own vehicle it ain’t a problem bringing your child. But I am hearing they have transportation and it is $1 down and $1 back up. “So I am confident that they would settle in, and I pray that they would find the environmental problem at the school where the children can be back at school and they will continue with their education,” Cyrus said. Rector Reverend Suzanne Ellis said Christ The King was happy to host the students and teachers of Lawrence T Gay in the church hall. She said agreeing to accommodate the students was a part of the church’s God-ordained mandate to be its brother’s keeper. Ellis said: “So we welcome the parents and the teachers and the children of the Lawrence T Gay School and we trust that this will be a rewarding and productive time for them and of course it will be a happy one as well.” Barbados TODAY has learned that parents who have students being accommodated at the Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church raised views about the safety of their children in what some of them has described as a community known for violence. NEW IDB LOANS COMING – Barbados could benefit from a major special policy-based loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as the country embarks on its environmental sustainability programmes. IDB Country Representative to Barbados Juan Carlos de la Hoz Viñas put forward the suggestion on Monday as he addressed the opening of a panel discussion at the Courtyard by Marriott on the theme Assessing and Addressing the Impact of Natural Disasters. He said the financial institution was in the process of developing the loan, which officials would be presenting to the board for approval in a matter of weeks. “I think this is a flagship for the bank and for Barbados – a new policy-based loan based on sustainability which is going to be the first in the history of the bank and we are very proud of that,” said de la Hoz Viñas. “There has been a lot of efforts and a lot of discussions and we are hoping to bring this project to the board in a few weeks and it is going to be a very interesting discussion at the board because we are going to emphasise that is a part of what we can do with a government that is pretty much committed,” he said. Stating that the IDB has been providing assistance to government in the area of climate resilience over the years, he said the bank would also be presenting a “new type of insurance” product that it has developed to its board. “So it is going to be a very interesting year in terms of operations and we hope in terms of bringing in expertise and [holding] discussions for policy matters in Barbados,” said de la Hoz Viñas. Meanwhile, Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment Marsha Caddle said Government has been in discussions with the development financing institution in relation to parametric triggers. “One of the things we have been very excited to engage with IDB on is the issue of parametric triggers �� what is it that triggers disbursements under certain kinds of contingency facilities and instruments that you have done such an amazing job of being able to create for countries like us in the region,” said Caddle. “What we looked at is that perhaps one of those parametric triggers should be slow onset events like erosion of our beaches,” said Caddle. Pointing out that the country depended heavily on tourism, the minister said it was critical that the island’s coasts were protected. “So it means that any event that compromises the integrity of the coast or the integrity of the reefs we have to mitigate against,” she said. “Not only do we need immediate liquidity after a severe weather event, but we also need to be able to build resilience before events happen,” she added. In that regard, Caddle said Government would also continue to “identify the kinds of instruments” needed and continue to work closely with the private sector. (BT)

VERDUN HOUSE NEEDS $5MILLION – The country’s famed residential drug treatment centre, Verdun House, is looking to expand its programme – with $5 million dollars to help, chairman of the Substance Abuse Foundation (SAF) Peter Boos has told a fundraiser. He told an audience at the Frank Collymore Hall last Saturday that the foundation, like any other charity, needs sustainable long-term revenues to support the work being done. “We are this year about to expand that programme considerably on four acres of land at Verdun House; we must raise $5 million to do so. And we will, because we must,” Boos told patrons at Renew – A Charity Fundraising Concert. The function was held as part of Verdun House’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, honoured founding visionaries Desmond Nicholls, Harold Hoyte and Mousa Moses. Present were 21 clients who had successfully undergone the treatment programme over the years. The SAF treatment centres – Verdun House for men and Marina House for women – offer a 90-day abstinence-based, 12 Step-oriented residential treatment programme. The chairman said the millions the charity is seeking to raise will also help continue their renewable energy initiative. Boos explained: “Two years ago, we embarked on an unprecedented enterprise to create a source of sustainable revenue, where at a cost of $550,000 we equipped all our buildings at Verdun House with solar panels to generate income to contribute to funding costs of out recovery programmes.  “We also trained 24 clients, women and men, to work in this field of solar panel installation and maintenance.” He added: “Our future funding model for SAF is innovative and sustainable. “It includes major contributions from philanthropists, Government, renewable energy investments, our own entrepreneurial social enterprises in partnership with local visionary business leaders and volunteers. “We all have a stake in SAF’s future and opportunities to be supportive. “We are grateful for your giving whether small or large.” (BT)

UPDATE: MAN INJURED IN SHOOTING AT GAS STATION – A 23-year-old St Michael man received a gunshot injury to his left leg after a man opened fire in the Sol Gas Station at Charles Rowe Bridge, St George, around 12:15 a.m. Sunday. Shaquille Callender of Odessa McClean Avenue, My Lords Hill, St Michael, was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private vehicle.  According to police, the victim was inside the gas station when he and the shooter began to argue. He went outside to a car and attempted to re-enter the building, but the other man, who now had a firearm, exited the building. Callender tried to run away but was struck in the leg by one of several shots fired in his direction. The shooter than ran off in the direction of Chefette Restaurants. Security footage of the incident later made the rounds on social media. Anyone who can provide any information that can assist with this investigation is asked to contact District B Police Station at 437-4311, Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1-800 (TIPS) 8477 or any police station. PSV DRIVER ON DANGEROUS DRIVING CHARGE – The minibus driver who was allegedly behind the wheel of the bus that nearly swiped a pedestrian off the side walk when it overtook another vehicle on the wrong side has been remanded to Dodds pending trial after the traffic prosecutor argued that a strong message must be sent to persons who “show blatant disregard” for other road users. Dacian Griffith, of Church Gap, Hillaby, St Andrew will return before the District ‘A’ Traffic Court on Thursday, January 30 when evidence will be given on four traffic offences stemming from the January 11 incident which was caught on camera and circulated on social media. The trial date was set by Magistrate Graveney Bannister after the driver, who has been operating public service vehicles for six years, entered not guilty pleas to the charges that about 3:50 p.m. that Saturday being the driver of minibus B89 on Black Rock Main Road did drive and overtake other vehicles other than on the right side or off side of the road. Griffith who has “over 90 traffic convictions” also denied driving the motor vehicle on a foot path; in a manner dangerous to the public; without due care and attention; and without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road. Urging the accused’s remand, Sergeant Kevin Forde pointed to the nature and seriousness of the charges saying that the alleged offence “attracted public outcry” and Griffith’s antecedents should be taken into consideration under the circumstances. “The evidence will show that someone could have been seriously injured . . . overtaking on the wrong side of the road. It will show the blatant disregard for persons using the roads both motorists and pedestrians. From what I gather the pedestrian had to take rapid, evasive measures to prevent serious bodily harm,” prosecutor Forde submitted. “A strong message should be sent to persons who show blatant disregard for other persons on the road,” the sergeant said. He told the court that while Griffith was not arrested at the scene, nor did he stop, police relied on video footage to verify the driver’s identity. But arguing that her client was a candidate for bail, attorney-at-law Shadia Simpson questioned whether the submissions made by the prosecution were “opening remarks” to the case. “The message which needs to be sent or not sent should come at the stage of sentencing,” the lawyer said as she went on to inform the court that Griffith was summoned to come before the court and had “presented himself… he is not likely to abscond as he has been here on a number of previous matters when required to do so.” Addressing his numerous convictions, Simpson submitted “none are of a similar nature”. Her client, she also explained, was a single father of two children – a seven and one year old – for whom she said he had sole responsibly. “I am asking that his personal circumstances be taken into consideration. He is also not working pending the outcome of this matter. I appeal and urge the court to grant him his pretrial liberty,” Simpson added. “What I can say at this time is the incident did not occur the way it may have appeared to have happened.” However, Magistrate Bannister said the allegation was a serious matter which carried serious penalties on conviction. He also pointed to Griffith’s antecedents before remanding him until January 30. The trial of the PSV driver is expected to begin at 9 a.m. As the magistrate ruled on the remand a family member who was present in court stood up and immediately collapsed and was assisted by police officers. However, she was quickly back on her feet and walked out of the court unaided, moments after Griffith was escorted out in handcuffs by a police officer. (BT)

MOOORE PLEADS NOT GUILTY TO THEFT – Accused Andrew Sylvester Moore, of no fixed place of abode, will have a roof over his head for the next 28 days at least. That’s because Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today remanded the 45-year-old to prison in connection with three criminal offences. It is alleged that Moore stole a $50 shirt and an $85 pair of pants belonging to Simply Genuine Boutique on January 22. He pleaded not guilty to the charges as well as that of loitering on the premises of the boutique on January 25 with cause to believe that he was about to commit theft. Moore will reappear in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on February 24. (BT)

BREADFRUIT THIEF AT DODDS – A self-employed man accused of praedial larceny will make his next appearance before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on February 24. In the meantime, Troy Jamar Hurdle, of 3rd Avenue Skeete’s Road, St Michael will be on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds. Hurdle is accused of stealing ten breadfruits belonging to Jonathan Lashley on January 25. He pleaded guilty to the offence before Magistrate Kristie Cuffy-Sargeant today, where it was also revealed that Hurdle had been missing court hearings in relation to a pending matter against him. It is expected that he will be sentenced on his next appearance after the facts in the case against him are revealed. (BT)

I NEVER SHOT A GUN – The man accused of shooting at a police officer nine years ago has vehemently denied using a firearm. “I never had a gun. I never shot a gun. I never told the police that I had a gun. I never told police I shot a gun,” Tevin Ramon Skeete, of Crab Hill, St Lucy said this morning in the No. 3 Supreme Court as he gave an unsworn statement from the dock. Skeete is facing nine jurors for unlawfully and maliciously engaging in conduct when he allegedly shot at officer Ewin Norville on January 14, 2011, placing him in danger of death or serious bodily harm. He is also accused of using a firearm on that same date. Before he gave his evidence the prosecutor Senior Crown Counsel Olivia Davis called two final witnesses before closing the Crown’s case against the accused who is being represented by attorneys-at-law Arthur Holder, Shadia Simpson, Mariah Arthur and Davidson Porter. Tomorrow, the defence will continue its case in the court presided over by Justice Carlisle Greaves. (BT)

I’ve mended ties with Ruben and got some juicy details on Alex… this shall be a very very fun merge :) Look out Pines :O

Moving forward into the merge, my plan is to first and foremost mend ties with Dom. How do I do this? It will be difficult… really difficult, and I’ll need Ruben to be my middle-man. The first step in that plan was put in motion tonight, with me talking to Ruben and trying to re-establish some level of trust. It is clear as day that he still doesn’t trust me, but that’s a given… I need to vote his way at a tribal to truly gain his trust. If I can get Dom off my back, I just want to fade into obscurity for two to three votes come merge… allow Pines to duke it out with Dom as I ferry between the two sides. During this period, my focus will be on getting closer to Ruben and Kendall. If Dom stills targets me, I’ll look to rally the Shallow Alliance against Alexis or Dom, and begin to talk to Robin. I’m pretty sure I could get Ashley and (hopefully) Sarah in on an Alexis or Dom vote. Jaiden, from what I have heard, appears to be an easy vote later down the line so I have no issue with him staying in the game. I can depend on him to always be crazy… I don’t fear people like him whatsoever. The people I fear are those I cannot get a solid read on, and that’s why Dom is such a fearsome adversary.

So my goal going into the challenge was to allow the reward to act as a reason to talk to other players that I haven't talked to all that much... and that worked out pretty well! Ashley and I have been "working together" for reward... mainly just her giving me reward answers and then me giving her one in return because I was under the impression we would tie for first if I gave her all my answers. Then comes along Ruben, who has 20+ reward items... so I give him my entire list without Ashley knowing, in an attempt to garner a little bit of trust and hope he shares reward with me :) Turns out I had three items he didn't have, so yay, I kinda helped!  Ruben is now bound to win reward over at the least Ash, Liam, and I... immunity will be far tighter, but honestly doesn't matter all that much so early into merge. The Nu-Nu-Parvati tribe sans-Ruben should be able to run the table with Sarah and Ashley's help for a bit of the merge.  That being said, I've talked quite a bit with Ruben and a fair bit with Robin. I love them both... more Robin than Ruben, though :P Robin seems fun but a bit harder to talk to, while Rubin seems to be always thinking. My goal in this merge is to have openings with most people for when it comes time to take a stab at Sarah and Pines.  Oh, I almost forgot! I've been talking a fair bit to Jaiden as well. He's a talkative guy... you can really tell he is trying super hard to keep the conversation going and he feels slightly alienated (or at least tries to portray himself as so). He's a person I can depend on to go against Jordan, and Jordan will always go against him before he takes a shot at me.  I am getting ready, talking to people so nobody has a reason to openly gun for me in the near future. Jordan, like me, has been talking to the people that the Shallow Alliance have no interest in talking to (like Rubin, Robin, Jaiden, etc...), but he is coming off as fake to those folk, which plays into my favor 

I just wanna say that I love the hosting crew this season. As a host myself, I know how frustrating it can be to have certain... things occur. So I am honestly sorry that you guys are dealing with this. I personally love this season and can't wait to see what happens <3 

This tribe has been really interesting. The dynamics were a little hectic at first but things settled down. We have majority at the moment and it's fantastic. I think I have a solid path to make it far unless the majority decides to turn on itself, but there are indeed bigger fish to fry.

So, with the merge comes the Jury, and I definitely have to see how to handle this Jury. My main issue in my entire life has been a social game in Survivor. I ignore people sometimes, and I'm just generally bad at keeping up conversations. Gavin isn't. I am fully aware that going into a FTC with Gavin will be very difficult. And so I have to prepare myself to try and get people to sway more towards my side. That means conversating with Ashley on a daily basis, or Lexi L, etc. Just because they aren't in my end game does not mean I don't talk with them, and that's something I need to make sure I do.

Well... Lexi just offered me nudes in exchange for safety. I was lonely enough to consider it but then I remembered that I don't want to get arrested for child pornography. It's bad enough with the necrophiliac charges... Where was I going with this? Oh right merge! We merged! I CAN BEAT MY PLACEMENT FUCKING FINALLY!!!!!! I JUST NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT I DON'T FUCK UP! Also I'm trying this new thing called "Socializing" I'm not sure how I'm doing because my austic ass can't read people for shit. But Lexi offered to be my best friend and give me nudes so I'm probably off to a good start. I get along well with my alliance members, I just need to extend my reach to others. This season has been heavily divided by newbs versus returnees and I feel that anyone who can cross the aisle would have a chance at winning. I know I'm on good terms with Robin and I get along well enough with Jaiden. I'm not sure how I'm doing with Lexi and Ruben. Sure they are being nice to me and they wanted to name the merge tribe Bayi Mati but they could just be frenching my ass hole. I try really hard to get people but I don't think I will ever know how to. Still operation "Don't-Be-A-Dick" is a go!

It's just an assumption as of now but I don't think the returnees want to get rid of Jaiden since he's a returnee. Ruben & Lexi are probably winning the challenges I think, so that leaves Robin and I and from the two of us, it's almost a no-brainer, who would want to get rid of Robin, she's so nice and I can assume that a lot of people love her so I'll be following Dom out of the game most likely. Dustata really was doomed after those initial tribals woo! I'll try my best but it's super blah when no one wants to do anything fun. I don't blame them since returnees have majority, it's easier just to pick half of the newbies off and use us as numbers but it makes for such a bland game.

Ruben not taking me to the cave, REALLY REALLY cute! I'm such a spiteful person so we'll see where that leads. :) Did I want to go? No, but it would have been smart to ask first! I didn't want to go because being too close to the newbies is a huge target and as of right now, I believe I'm close with the returnee villains or at least Jaiden and possibly Jordan but Sarah is allergic to replying back to me. Sarah is also is alienating all her potential jury votes by antagonizing the minority constantly which makes me laugh, not going to lie! Imagine having a huge train wreck of a game like that; I love good TV! If Liam is really dense to the point where he believes his best chance to make it further is to stick with the returnees then we might as well write the metaphorical check to Kendall or Jordan but let's be honest, he doesn't care about the game and he's just here to screw us (the minority) over by staying. I'll be talking to Jordan later and sharing my pitch which is to use me as a vote to take out the large group of returnee heroes or they would have the numbers to take out the returnee villains which is essentially just Jordan and Sarah at this point because Sarah already antagonized Jaiden to the point where he doesn't want to work with her. I think Jordan's best shot at forming something with us would be through me but I have no clue as to how much he has talked to the others. I believe that Ruben or Lexi L might be leaving this time around since they have rubbed the majority the wrong way as of the #cheatinggate scandal. To ensure the newbies do not have numbers, they will not align with us until a few of us have gone so that's the downside. I have the fear that they may try and target someone else so we don't see it coming so that's a little terrifying but I'll try and speak with everyone to see which road I should head down.
