Alright everyone AU down below!!!
I’ve been tentatively calling it “Destiny Islands AU”
On the surface, it’s a slice of life AU.In the general context of kingdom hearts, they never left the islands, Sora is just a regular school boy and all he’s worried about is what’s he gonna do once he graduates and how he’ll keep his childhood friends post-high school.
But underneath that, this is a post KH3 AU. Sora is stuck in a (wow! so original!) simulation a lá KH2. We get the “bad” and “true” end post Yozora fight, however, this AU follows the belief that the bad ending still happens. This is while Sora is asleep and in his crystal state. Using his powers, Yozora creates this as a way to keep Sora busy and ensure he doesn’t wake up any time soon to spoil any plans.
Sora’s connection to the Real World is through Riku, who has the power to reach out to him via Dreams, however, this starts to cause discrepancies. There is a “Dream” Riku and a “Real” Riku that unintentionally swap places. As Sora’s real memories start to come through, there’s hiccups in the simulation as well. Sometimes he’ll remember an experience that he knows he didn’t go through, he’ll see a ship in the sky where he once saw a boat, and sometimes people don’t remember…..Riku.
As these memories continue to surface, Sora constantly finds himself wondering what’s a dream and what’s reality.
As an aside, there’s a bit of added lore to the islands that goes as follows. The motto is Destiny Islands: of Fate, Fortune & Future.
This is thematically relevant:
FATE (memories): Play island; Where things are predestined to happen
FORTUNE(simulation): Main Island; prosperity from land, community, and tradition
FUTURE (reality): Big Island; Where those go who want change
How does this relate to Sora?
The Play Island is where the discrepancies start, and it’s where Riku first shows up. It’s a place that isn’t tied down to whatever rules the rest of the simulation is running on. A bit of a limbo if you will. This is where Sora starts to regain his true sense of self.
The Main Island is the simulation at large. It has the town, his family's shop, the school and the grocer. It’s as close to normalcy as you would imagine. If Riku hadn’t shown up Sora would probably still be stuck in the routine of it all…
The “Big Island” exists as more of a vague threat. Sora doesn’t realize that “Riku graduating and leaving the main island” means “Riku is somewhere where I'm not” to him. At least not yet. It’s also his feelings manifesting of Riku having left the islands already, except this time he has no way to follow.
Okay but where is the soriku?
It’s the Vibes™
My initial thoughts are that this is a place that’s familiar to Sora, but since it’s a world without “conflict”, it leaves him bored and reflective. Life has only ever been this hometown. Even before Riku shows up, Sora is slowly unlocking thoughts and emotions he hasn’t had the time to sit and think about for quite some time. We know he has feelings of sadness, anger, and hopelessness. Without the constant threat of the worlds falling to darkness, or friends being in danger, how would he deal with these emotions without the context. I’m sure it has him feeling confused and at a bit of a loss. The desperation starts to kick in as he imagines this dull life without Riku, he’ll do anything so he won’t get left behind(….again). It starts to break the simulation even more.
On Riku’s end… he has no idea what’s going on! Seeing Sora constantly “Dream” about the islands makes him feel guilty that he isn’t searching hard enough or that he’s not bringing him home fast enough. He truly believes Sora wants to “return home” and since he never sees himself in this simulation (because he takes his own spot) he believes it to be a home where he doesn't belong. A home he’s not welcome to return to.
However, that doesn’t stop him from at least trying to get Sora back. It’s the least he could do after all. He tells himself it’s strictly his responsibility and nothing more.
Buuuuut….. As they catch themselves meeting up from time to time, lines begin to blur. Sora thinks Real Riku is actually Dream Riku. Riku thinks Sora is simply stuck in a dream world cycle and unaware of what he’s doing. They let themselves be more honest, not knowing they are talking with each other and idk maybe they get to kiss as a treat…
The rest is a bit more of a secret since I might do something with this in the future (looks at my hands….i wanna make a comic. so bad…) but for now that’s the gist of it!
Thanks for lookin :-)

Laws of Time: Daylight (fanfic)
~~~
Roxas shot up in bed, heart beating a mile a minute. His chest heaved as he panted and he felt sweat drip off his brow.
Roxas turned back to the glass of the window and he could see his reflection. It was him, of course. Same face, same eyes, same hair. But in his heart, he knew it was wrong. This wasn’t him.
This was Ventus.
Roxas wakes up in Ventus's body... 10 years into the past. He meets a masked boy with a familiar face... and everything unravels.
Cover for a Kingdom Hearts fanfic I've been working on for over two years! I'm VERY excited to finally start posting chapters!
Khdr AU where almost everything is the same, except everyone has wings. It’s a little something I’ve been working on (and writing a lot about) and I finally finished the Lowerclassmen!
Wing notes + a tiny au lore dump under the cut:
In Scalan society, eagle and crane wings are preferred and more desirable to every other type. Eagles for their strength and size, cranes for their symbolism and heritage. Anyone who has a pair of them are typically seen as more capable/important. If wings are permanently damaged, it’s seen as shameful/frowned upon, so keyblade wielders have to take great care in protecting them while they battle.
Usually flight training starts at about 16 years of age, because their wings aren’t grown enough to carry them until then. They keep growing until about 20-21.
Letting someone touch your wings or groom them is an excellent sign of trust.
Xehanort: White Bellied Sea Eagle
- A not insignificant amount of people are skeptical of his wings, because an outsider shouldn’t have wings in the first place. And on the off chance they did, how did they end up with eagle wings? There’s a lot of distrust towards him among the upper circles.
- He also got a good grasp on flying relatively easily, which sparked some debate. He’s not interested in hearing the rumors.
- Only Eraqus is allowed to touch them, with Vor being an occasional exception.
Eraqus: Red Crowned Crane
- His wings are a rare sight and a very important status symbol. His family, Odin, and most of Scala ad Caelum’s leadership constantly pressure him to take care of them, but he’s constantly forgetting.
- Is a slow learner with flying. He can glide just fine, and uses them to glide to lower levels of the city instead of taking the stairs.
- He also forgets how big they are already and continuously bumps them into things or knocks things over.
Vor: Red Backed Shrike
- Her wings are small, but they have the most growing to do. Unfortunately she falls behind in flight lessons, and she worries about her classmates leaving her behind.
- To make up for this, she tries her best to take care of them, and grooms their wings. She knows she doesn’t have to, and they constantly offer her support, but she wants to do something.
- They flap when she’s excited or happy. When they’re finished growing, she’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
Baldr: Dove (damaged)
- His wings were damaged from birth, and he is very self conscious about it. Hoder is also very protective over him because of it.
- Because his right wing is particularly damaged, he won’t be able to fly unassisted. His classmates are continuously coming up with creative ways to bypass that.
- Hoder is the only one allowed near his wings, and she does most of his grooming.
Urd: Snowy Owl
- Her wings are especially fluffy and soft. Everyone loves them. She also loses the most feathers, so everyone knows who to blame when lots of little white feathers show up.
- Her wings are resistant to the cold, which works well with her tendency to use ice magic.
- They’re also naturally warm and very comfortable to be around
Hermod: Shoebill
- He takes very, very good care of his wings. He also takes very, very good care of his classmate’s wings in case they don’t.
- He inadvertently puts a lot of strain on his own though. He’s at the higher end of learning how to fly, but they’re always tense.
- When he’s irritated, they twitch in annoyance. The other’s lightheartedly poke fun at him for it.
Bragi: Bearded Vulture
- Those aren’t Bragi’s wings, they’re Luxu’s. When he took a new vessel, the vessel’s wings changed to his own. Luckily, Bragi’s natural wings were similar enough where with a little dye, no one noticed the change. He blamed the slight differences on his wing growth.
- Has to dye his constantly them ginger so the white doesn’t show and make other’s suspicious.
- He likes to use them to mess with people, and swats people or objects with them to mess around.
- He, being Luxu, is an expert at flying. Pretending he doesn’t know how to and having to willingly crash land during training is something he doesn’t particularly enjoy.
