i will always hold a grudge against anyone other than Rowan (maybe Fenrys too) in the voting scene in KOA

He was the only one to speak up and say he didn’t want Aelin to sacrifice herself.

Aelin Galathynius who went out of hiding, who learned to love two men devoted to the King, who accepted the bloodsworns of another Queen as members of her court even before they were banished…. She fought for all these people, and they voted for her to sacrifice herself or they just watched it happen

At the end of the day, the only person Aelin truly had in her corner was Rowan. He was the only one fighting for her whereas Aelin fought for everyone

Elain goes to live with the BoE…

Headcanon that Feyre and Rhys are worried about Nyx being in the Night Court with all the multiverse activity going on there: Aelin falling past, Bryce falling in, etc.

Feyre and Rhys and Elain agree that Nyx and Elain will live with the BoE in the Mortal Lands until they can figure out a way to send Bryce home. Feyre and Rhys believe Elain’s seer powers will help ensure whatever harm might befall Nyx will be seen and eradicated before it happens.

Lucien travels with Elain and Nyx because he not only knows Prythian well, he also knows the BoE and their manor, considering that is where he has been staying when he is not in Prythian…

so so many random spoilers for all three series

okay so bryce's tattoo was in the same language as the book of breathings which we now know is the asteri's language

assuming it was wyrdmarks on the statue of urd we know that's a different language to the book of breathings

between the lidia and the ithan arcs we know that shifters definitely came from the tog universe, and aelin fell through velaris in koa, and she opened a portal to who knows where using wyrdmarks to try and communicate with nehemia

not exactly sure where I'm going with this but really hope she revisits the tog universe since we never got the world of throne of glass

also very excited for the next acotar book, especially since the islands in avallen returned and we don't know if/how that affected the prison

speaking of, think I need a reread to figure out when tf amren arrived and whether she was a pet of the daglan/asteri

Hell(as), Dawn, and Elain Archeron; some thoughts

Spoilers: all CC, TOG and ACOTAR books to date.

I was looking up quotes to prove a point in a silly debate about Lorcan's magic - as you do 😅 - and stumbled across a few gems that may be relevant.

TOG - TOD

TOG - KOA

Two things struck me at the same time.

1. "Crueler than any level of Hellas's realm" and "Is there a hell-realm whose throne now sits vacant?"

There might be an empty throne in "a hell-realm" after Aelin had killed Hellas, along with the other gods from TOG?! Not to mention the suggestion that Erilea is almost certainly linked with the same Hel as Midgard, which was essentially confirmed in CC HOSAB, where we learnt that the fae-shifters from Midgard likely came from Erilea.

If Hellas was a Prince of Hel - and when I sent the quotes to @silverlinedeyes, by the way, she had the brilliant idea that he may have had a child at some point, and no, it may not be who you think - which level of Hel was his? Apollion (Pit, 7), Aidas (Chasm, 5) and Thanatos (Ravine, 4) are still alive in HOSAB, so was Hellas possibly the Prince of the Abyss (6)? Or perhaps one of the lower levels: the Hollow, the Trench or the Canyon (1, 2, 3)? Unless there is a time difference, or Hellas was only trapped - and not killed - in which case he could be any of the Hel Princes we know (crack theory that he's Apollion, who could be Koschei, and Anneith is the Weaver).

Alternatively, could Hellas have been the King of Hel (if that exists) or, assuming I was correct with the Erebos imagery I've mentioned before, Void itself? Is there a possible association with Koschei, who is currently trapped at a Lake, deep* in the Continent? How about the Archeron sisters, whose surname appears to be a play on the River Acheron, also known as the river of "woe," "pain," or "lost souls." If they don't all journey to Hel, I'll be so upset. 😅

* And when SJM says that Koschei's lake is "deep in the continent," does she mean far from the ocean, or deep underground? The imagery of the latter would not be subtle, if it's true.

2. “What does it mean,” Gavriel mused, the first rays of sun beginning to gild his golden hair...

ACOSF

The fact that Gavriel, who has healing powers, not to mention magic with protective qualities, was essentially gilded, glowing like the sun at dawn, just using slightly different words, has some potentially significant implications. His imagery here seems to parallel Azriel's thoughts about Elain in his ACOSF bonus chapter.

Could this be hinting that one of Elain's powers might be the ability to heal, or even protect? Given that the Dawn Court and Tower of Dawn hold associations with healing throughout the ACOTAR and TOG series, this doesn't seem like too much of a stretch.

Furthermore, though this is admittedly more of a reach, could Gavriel's other major magical ability - his ability to shape shift - also be shared with Elain? If so, @wingedblooms and my jaws would pretty much hit the floor, simultaneously.

Is any of this correct? It's always fun when things pop up in SJM's much earlier books, which suggest she's been heading towards the crossover for years.

IT’S NOT AN ADMISSION SHE EXPECTS FROM HIM ; one that prompts a second glance, perhaps, concern that flickers amidst otherwise stoic features. It’s just the two of them tonight, the last lingering watchers of a dying fire and sleeping companions ( though she’s almost certain the fae male who holds her heart so vehemently is awake, determined to allow them the security of sharing their thoughts alone and private ). Arms wrap around her knees, tug them towards a body that no longer feels quite like her own – blank flesh once amassed with scars, imperfect but hers and long since gone, leaving a much deeper wound she thinks might never heal. Trauma they share and trauma they wear, as Ashryver hues capture the gaze she’s spent months memorising in the very depths of her soul ; the only connection she’d had to any kind of kindness and companionship for far longer than she thought she might ever have to bear.

Silence doesn’t feel heavy between them – it feels more natural than speaking, but she does it anyway, voice so low that she wonders if he might even hear.

“Does anyone?”

Queen without throne sits in silence, surveys her bloodbonded for several more moments, but somehow she understands what he means ; there are days she wonders if they’re here or if she’ll wake in her iron coffin all over again, and the thought brings an ache to her chest that suffocates her more than that box ever did. Mere thought pales her flesh – and when her gaze locks on his again, full of an understanding that only comes from shared agony, she can only offer him the smallest of comforts, one only he knows.

Four blinks. I am here. I am with you.

Five blinks. This is real. You are awake.

The lyrics are putting me in SUCH A GOOD MOOD. I hope you don’t run out and I hope they keep coming.

Yes I have read CC. Yes I cried in the shower until the water ran cold when I finished HOSAB. Yes I also woke up crying the next day. Twice, I fell back asleep after the first time. I haven’t been able to read any CC memes or fics without crying yet until I get some HOFAS resolution. I have a countdown app on my phone that I downloaded specifically for this book and preordered from Walmart for that particular bonus scene.

But I love those characters so much too and each of SJM’s series hold a special place to me. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO MY BOYS. I was crying so hard I literally didn’t know the last two chapters existed, including that major thing you know who goes through where they need that other group of people (I’m being intentionally vague so I hope this works).

Also the fact that I cry does not mean I do not enjoy reading it or avoid it. I’ve reread the ending of HOSAB and chapters 89-90 and 108 of KoA repeatedly for the tears. Give me all the angst and the pain.

I have a special connection to Hunt. Orion is and has been my favorite constellation since I was a little kid. It’s in the sky in my area around my birthday, and whenever things got rough I’d go outside and try to find Orion. But Ruhn is also complete bae. And Bb Itan. 🥹🥰

I am SO FREAKING DOWN FOR HOWEVER LARGE YOU WANNA LET THIS LITTLE BRAIN WORM BABY GROW.
