People often talk about how disappointed Chay is when he finds out who Kim really is— which is fair, that moment would have been horrible.

But I can’t help wondering if Kim had a similar moment when he realized Chay was related to Porsche.

Like… he meets this cute fan who loves his work and he’s so happy to get his autograph and Kim is like “Wow, adorable.”

Then he sees the report on Porsche who he is suspicious of and he thinks “What if this whole thing has been a scam to get close to my family?”

Suddenly that little moment of light in meeting Chay is totally gone. He just has a mission to do now, if he wants to protect his family.

All I’m saying is that, it also had to suck for him. Kind of like how it did for Chay. (Though obviously not as strongly since Chay was a fan first and in love when it happened)

Considering how much Kim obviously resents his family background and wants to live a normal life, it really must have stung to be reminded that he can never have that. Because he just can’t let his guard down. He must always wait for the next shoe to drop.

It just makes me feel bad for him, and I think it explains some of his reluctance to let Chay in, even when he learns he’s a good person. Because he can never really trust him even when all the evidence tells him that he can.

48. 🩸 🏥 🐕‍🦺

🩸 Bierze/brała któraś z was tabtetki anty? Pomagają na PMS? Mi terapeutka to poleciła, bo serio jest nie do wytrzymania... Puchnę, cycki jakby miały mi wybuchnąć (rozmiar skacze do E o.O), jestem leniwa, markotna i ZŁA. I ostatnio to jedyny powód przez który sięgam po opioidy.

🏥 Spełniam pierwsze postanowienie noworoczne i robię kurs KPP, dobra powtórka przed powrotem na studia. Łączę z tym też drugie postanowienie - nie jestem płochliwą pizdą. ;) Zgłaszam się, odpowiadam na pytania (wcześniej nawert gdy znałam odpowiedzi doskonale i byłam ich pewna to i tak milczałam z lęku), biorę najtrudniejsze role, by je przećwiczyć, nie zamykam się w sobie. Jestem zadowolona i nie jest to o dziwo takie straszne. :) Jakieś 3 lata temu przez mój irracjonalny lęk i wycofanie między innymi nie dokończyłam tego kursu.

🐕‍🦺 Przyszła paczka od mamy dla Walterka! Na kocyku jakoś leży, poczekam trochę i dam mu go do legowiska. Frisbee odpakował sobie sam, potem wziął się za wyciąganie woreczków z kostki. XD Jak tak dalej pójdzie to sam będzie wyciągał, pakował i wyrzucał haha.

Okay, we’ve got to talk about the club scene next.

We’ve already talked about Kim being disappointed to realize Chay was tied to his Mafia life when he first saw the report about Porsche.

After that, Kim comes to see who Chay really is— A good person who deserves better than the life Kim was born into but cannot escape. So, despite Kim’s desire to disappear into Chay’s life and let that become his reality, Kim knows he’s bad for Chay and shouldn’t be around him.

This comes to a head in the couch/eggs scene. Kim realizes he’s crossed the line because he cares too much, but he still can’t say, “I love you too, Chay.” Because if he does, Chay is doomed to Kim’s life, not the other way around.

Unfortunately, Chay becomes a part of Kim’s Mafia life anyway thanks to Porsche but— despite Chay’s new proximity— Kim not only wants Chay to have the most normal life possible, he also doesn’t want to see himself through Chay’s eyes anymore. Because someday those eyes will see him for who he really is, which is the person Kim has spent so much time running away from.

So Kim distances himself from Chay, expecting him to still have the life he planned. (Music school, a music career, ect)

Instead, Kim finds out Chay ditched his interview and isn’t chasing his dreams at all.

This makes Kim realize the unplanned consequences of his actions and so he tries to fix things, but its too late. Chay doesn’t want to hear from him anymore.

Given all this, here is the Club Scene:

Kim finds Chay while he’s spiraling and clubbing with a shady crowd—Specifically he stumbles in on him about to take drugs that could ruin his life.

Kim intervenes, furious, and tries to drag Chay out. Only to be told by Chay to basically Fuck Off.

So, not only has Kim completely lost Chay, but he doesn’t even know if he’ll be safe after this. Let alone happy.

That moment had to be so painful. To realize that, despite his intentions, everything could still be going to hell and his sacrifice of losing Chay was for nothing.

I honestly wish we had seen a reaction scene of him outside the club; having to reckon with his pain and anger. Because a huge part of those emotions is probably what went into him writing ‘Why Don’t You Stay.’

I could see him getting a drink and then starting the song late that same night— once he calmed down a little— while he tried to process everything he was feeling.

But that’s just my personal theory.
