Co-parenting Found Family
[Miu (has a baby), Rantaro, Tsumugi & Kokichi friend group, Saiouma]
Me: you ever read a crackfic one-shot and realize you'd want to read a serious longfic with the same premise? cause now I am thinking of this stupid.. pregnant Miu shows up to saiou's apartament, asking Kokichi for help but instead of going with the crap about her not realizing she's pregnant for this long, I would like it to be angst inspired by her lhs
Clown: Yessss!!! I read that one!!! Absolutely loved it, mostly because I'm a sucker for them navigating something like this so ridiculously
Me: I liked it too, the joke about her not being able to tell rubbed me the wrong way, but it was actually nice after that, I would read more of it if they write a continuation
Me: basically, Miu ghosts everyone for a few months, not that unusual, she can disappear in her projects, she pops back up to brag about the prize she got for it when she's done, but not this time, this time she shows up to saiou's apartment, severely pregnant and devastated turns out she jumped headfirst into a relationship with some guy, tried to go through with her baby-trapping idea from LHS, because, hello abandonment issues, and for a bit it looks like she's exactly where she wants to be, but then, only weeks before she's due the guy ditches, leaves some note about realizing he's too young to be a father, and he's gone also, I'd add https://archiveofourown.org/series/976308 friend group to the mix, so while Ouma is the first person she comes to, the whole gang unites to help her
Clown: The friend group coming together instead of another potential partner is clenches fist so good. Miu is someone who is pretty fixated on relationships, it's almost as though in her mind she won't really be completely until someone loves her that way. So to give her a chance to move past that in this situation is just so interesting AND ITS JUST SO GOOD! In my mind for her to come to ouma of all people. Because he provided some familiarity to her, some safe space where she can in her own way step back into her usual. And Ouma would low-key go "shit. I'd jump shit too" and shuichi sends him a look but doesn't dare say anything because he kinda agrees. And it's a complete wreck but it's good
Me: yeah, if it's platonic relationships being as important as romantic ones, if not put first (actually, love Kokichi kicking Shu out so he can focus on comforting Miu), I am an insane person unapologetically I just think. found family coming together to raise a child. like if you agree I've done it before with DICE adopting a kid and I'll do it again
Me: Kokichi would agree with being the father, he's going to use it to gaslit their other ex-classmates (I imagine this is a few years post-HPA) into thinking he's the one who ended up with a kid their friend group + Shuichi know the truth of the arrangement, but that's it she might have been in a state of shock when she suggested it to him, but he's embraced it he Will be "the ultimate dad", (she regrets coming to him instead of Rantaro or Tsumugi when she sees all the custom print tees he got) he's telling Kaito about His pregnancy and childbirth experience the next time he comes over, he's preparing stories when it's aliens that got him pregnant, but no it was actually one of those dinosaur foam pills he swallowed, unless… Kaito, who just wanted to eat lunch with Shuichi: Shuichi, who is a simp: [relieved emoji] he won't help you, Kaito
Aalliyah: He swallowed a watermelon seed
Clown: He's taking this so seriously jagdjdhs He laid an egg [pensive emoji] I love shuichi just going along with it. Everyone expects some sort of something from him and he's just "We planted him in our garden from a toe nail and-"
Ves: this is gonna be the most spoilt baby
Me: on some bigger (as in just about the whole class is there) reunion, (probably a regular event organized by Kaede, like a movie or boardgame night) they look to Rantaro, who's always been the most reasonable of their group, and he's just mentally in the hehe hoho I'm an uncle and doesn't have more to add, he's zeroed-in on the baby, will get back to you later, maybe. [replying to Ves] oh, absolutely Tsumugi is part of the problem, always making something but. there is always somebody who wants to carry the baby never left out of sight
Clown: How do the squad [sunglasses emoji] , eventually find out??
Me: I think after Miu cries herself to sleep Kokichi texts their group chat using their emergency code (sacred, extempt from lies) to get Rantaro & Mugi to come over the next morning so they can tackle it together because in reality, he's a little overwhelmed too, and in the moment doesn't know yet if Shuichi will adjust to this with him so they all eat breakfast together, reassure Miu that they'll be there for her no matter what, start making a plan, a shopping list, beginning of a schedule, then Kokichi has to take the first scary step of the plan - talk to Shuichi about it; but Shuichi is like: yeah, of course because how could he expect his boyfriend not to help out? this is literally why he loves him, of course he will go a little overboard when it's for his found family he knew he had to prepare himself for Something when he saw Miu crying on his couch, at least it doesn't involve committing crimes against whoever hurt her, for now.
Clown: It's a big step!! (And very sudden) Even if it'll be a shared responsibility It's an entire new person! One that ouma is already in his mind accepted he'll be there for. He wouldn't immeadiately expect Shuichi to agree to something like that on a whim, but to know Shuichi is willing to look for solutions, to stay and work through it with him without question because of course. Sobs. Yeah. They've GROWN!!! Planning would be hellish though. Oumas filling the table with hundreds of scribbled papers and everything. Yes absolutely we need to sign this bitch up for maternity classes. Fuck it, Rantaro you go too, check in with us later. Tsumugi!! Need 3 months of baby clothes STAT! SHUICHI!! you just sit there and look pretty…SIKE ERRAND BOY GET THIS FOR ME
Me: let's be real, he's the first to sign up for those parenting classes and buying books about it but yeah, he does make Miu go too, for sure
Clown: Yeah he would!! He wants to be prepared
Me: also not to take from egg's family au directly but https://eggs-can-draw.tumblr.com/post/711383943783579648/omg-i-just-thought-so-byakuya-would-be-like Togami's motherhenning = Kokichi here and, while this is all sweet, I think Miu also needs to get mental health help, get that girl some therapy, she needs to work out the flaw with her logic, because, while it was already proven wrong when the guy left her, she needs to be given alternatives and you know, I think she would struggle with her feelings about the kid, it was supposed to be her ticket to being loved, and the kid is certainly getting a lot of love, but… maybe she would want more attention for herself? how is she meant to score a relationship now? she's going to need help understanding that those people are her family and that she's already loved
Ves: yeah!!! i think kokichi would b pretty blunt abt it too he tells her to shape tf up
Clown: YEEEAHHH. Honestly having a lot of people helping her out, some who give out reassurance easier than others, is a good start. But she is in that place where she's looking for something else to latch on. Usually that's the kid. I feel like had she gone through this alone she'd be one of those mothers constantly flipping through "You ruined my life" and "your the only thing in my life that loves me unconditionally" towards her kid. Ouma definitely helps in the way that he doesn't sugarcoat a thing.
Ves: local cluster b morons try to make a child well-adjusted baby'll be ok tho i think
Clown: Yeah baby will be ok! Everyone gets therapy [gun emoji] by law
Ves: praying that includes whatever poor man miu fucked up RIP king the kid is gonna be FUNNY when it grows up tho
Clown: [2 sob emojis] they'll be the ultimate comedian
Ves: saihara please pretend to be normal they need a balancing influence
Apollo: That kid is gonna commit crimes and use the skills Shuichi teaches them to get away with it
Clown: Somehow they pick up only on saiharas ingrained need to find the answer to questions The question is what would happen if a fork goes into an outlet
Apollo: They manage to somehow get the baby proof thing off the outlet and Kokichi fucking dives to stop them
Clown: Miu is just "let it happen. This is how I learned!"
Apollo: Kokichi just looks at her, blood dripping from the cut in his forehead and mumbles about how 'That explains a lot' Kokichi acts like kids will be kids and thus they get injured so there's no need to panic but the kid trips and he freaks the fuck out Like the kid doesn't even fall over. They stumble slightly and Kokichi is instantly there
Clown: He's the doting one. He's sobbing going, "my god. Your going to hate me one day. I'll be cool!! You can do a drug!"
Apollo: Poor Shuichi wakes up to Kokichi sitting up in the middle of the night because he's stressing over if he's cool or not and Shuichi has to remind him that the kid isn't even a year old yet and thus, has no idea what cool even means
Beez: smh shuichi just lie to him and say he is
Clown: Shuichi for real he needs to know, is he the lamest guy at the daycare?
Apollo: He's too tired to lie right now. Kokichi bursts into tears because is this his way of saying he isn't cool?
Clown: The pure betrayal!! From the one he trusted most!!!
Apollo: It's 2 in the morning [sob emoji] Kokichi has to have his devices taken away because he's staying up searching up how to be the cool guardian Ves: miu and him fight over who's the cool one when the kid is older (it;s neither of them)
Me: I can see Miu and Kokichi arguing about which one of them is cooler, but it's definitely Miu who lets the kid get away with things (like not brushing teeth) to be cool, and would likely mean the letting them do drugs thing, Kokichi would scold her for that and then his version of cool is teaching them lockpicking and making the scary faces, which in turn, she tells him off for
Apollo: Kid says it's Rantaro and both of them decide that he must go /silly Rantaro is riding the high while running away from Miu and Kokichi
springbug: it [rising the baby] surprisingly goes well too sure the kid might pick up on swearing at the age of 5 BUT THAT'S OKAY
Apollo: I mean, kid's gotta learn at some point Okay but father's day at daycare and just Shuichi, Rantaro, Kiibo and Kokichi all show up [idek why Apollo added Kiibo to the mix, he wasn't mentioned before, I didn't skip anything like that]
springbug: "i'm the father" "no i am" "what are you guys talking about? i look just like them" "sorry ma'am, im actually the father"
Me: nah, daycare, kindergarten etc. people think Miu and Kokichi are divorced or something if they come together they probably have some of their barely censored banter; sometimes Kokichi comes in with Shuichi, or it's Shuichi who drops the kid off on his own while he's on the way to work, kid refers to him by his name and calls him "dad's boyfriend"; sometimes uncle Rantaro or aunt Tsumugi come to pick them up; both Miu and Kokichi love to act like they're a single mom, works three jobs when other kids' parents try to ask them about life, and sometimes complain about each other
springbug: imagine gonta taking them to the park and showing him all the cool bugs [smiling face with tear emoji]
Me: once the kid is a bit older they let Rantaro and Gonta organize a camping trip for them and their friends, Kokichi is crying when letting them go because he's a motherhen and his baby is growing up and not scared to sleep away from home and him because the bugs will kill them
Clown: Miu and Kokichi giving their all to be divorcecore so true Everyone has ideas of the outrageous affair that ended their marriage that never happened
Beez: u just know the tea is PIPING among the staff
Clown: They're picking sides for sure
Me: imagine someone on the staff is homophobic so one of those days when it's Shuichi's turn, he gets told that his gay agenda is the reason the kid has to live in a broken family he's so confused the asshole is dealt with, but the anecdote lives forever also, I think Kokichi is the parent that always takes the chance to help out at school when they ask for a volunteer to join the trip or some event at school idk, if it's an universal thing, but here it's common practice that when little kiddos go on trips around town one or two of the class moms are asked to join after the first time the teacher is like "does anyone other than mr. Ouma wants to join? [sweat smile emoji]" but he persists he's just a little to prepared for anything to happen and kids feed into that energy and it becomes entirely beyond the teacher's control
Clown: OUMA BECOMES A PTA MOM AKSHJDHD The children are the next in line to be a part of his criminal organization so he needs to see them regularly, duh

Question: What motivated you to even begin doing all this, all the Hope Universe?
(人◕ω◕) Interesting question. Well I suppose it really boils down to three things really. @wesst1 story "Everyday life with ultimate girls" which you can find here. @pyropsychiccollector story "Danganronpa: Another IF" which you can find here
And the fact that generally speaking, Makoto is not only the most unpopular main character but also he is the only one that actually inspires me. Right. So Why did I bring up Wesst1 and pyro? Well because both of them helped me get into exploring Makoto with others. See, I used to be a bog standard Naegiri & Naekusaba fan. Didn't really think much of shipping the egg with others. But reading Danganronpa: Another IF by @pyropsychiccollector really sold me on NaeCeles around Chapter 3 and Naezono throughout the story From there I became obsessed with other types of shipping and pyro will tell you I quickly reached out to him and well here we are XP But in the early days we were also talking about NaeChisa when there were like 1-3 images out there on the entire internet. And yeah...I quickly fell down the rabbit hole. NaeHina, Naekawa, NaeJunko, Naezono and after reading @wesst1 story, my mind blew wide open. The way he set it up by having Makoto interact with OTHER Girls from GD and V3....Yeah man that shit was revolutionary. Suddenly I had a reference point to expand beyond my initial Class 78 girls with the egg. From here on, I just wanted to explore shipping Makoto with others. Sonia, Akane, Mikan, Ibuki (@pyropsychiccollector she's still an agent of chaos), Miu, Kaede, Angie, Tenko, etc And well funnily enough I started getting into Koikatsu around this time. Same program I use for all my 3D stuff. See, on a site called Pixiv there was this guy called Demco. He made all the main series characters sans Ruruka and Seiko. But there was a rub. He was SUPER paranoid? Controlling? XDDD @notpistol knows what I'm talking about. He basically had this rule where you couldn't share his danganronpa characters at all or he'll private everything and you wouldn't get access to future updates of a character as he improved the designs. Several times though they would get leaked and he eventually went nuclear and just stopped making cards and took down all his links. Around this time I had to quite literally look at pictures he would still post and figure out the new changes and looks and replicate it myself (with limited success). So Demco became this new....goal or rival to beat XDDD I would tell @pyropsychiccollector about Demco's madness but brilliance and my desire to succeed him.
So I practiced and developed my skills. Not long after I began making my own characters Demco never made like Miaya and the Student Council~ Those were my first ever characters I made that nobody did. @notpistol also started making the spin-off/LN/Manga characters like Sayaka's idol group or Yui and Hiroko! So between the two of us and I forgot to add but there was a lad who made Seiko and Ruruka and did a GOD tier job with the early designs. Also, someone made Danganronpa Another cards but they....weren't that good XDDD. But yeah between me and @notpistol we basically started making every danganronpa character that had an image. I think though what made me really make the Hope universe was....okay. I finally became a solid creator. I could replicate/improve upon Demco's cards and I made new characters. But there wasn't a grand plan or anything. I was just using them for shipping stuff and my goal at the time was to show Makoto x <Insert Girl> art and family stuff.
Tumblr media
A NaeAngie family picture or Makoto with Tsumugi and their child or NaeCeles Family or Naekawa wedding. Stuff like that. My earliest Koikatsu work was in fact Makoto x Chisa and soon after Makoto x Celeste and Makoto x Junko. You seen the kids and stuff. However once I saw DRA1 and SDRA2 I decided.....I can make all of this work. XDDDD I became unapologetically greedy and decided to make a huge harem and @wesst1 already showed me it can be done! So I decided to incorporate fangan stuff but I didn't have an overall plan or story or anything. it was more or less "Hey I'm a huge Makoto harem shipper, here's this big family" But as I decided to add more characters and what not, I began figuring out who goes where. And creating the initial groundwork for classes. It wasn't until the brilliant @putaindeplagieur contacted me and made this kickass Excel spreadsheet listing all the classes, who teaches the classes and yeah we worked together for months and I pitched him the idea of opening up multiple schools and we (Mostly him) organized that shit! XDDDDD Which led to the Hope Universe we have. I wanted a corner of the internet where we get some wholesome fluff and family stuff with the egg. No deaths, no murder porn, none of that stuff. And I needed it because life fucking sucks here in America especially as a minority so it became this outlet for me. In my single-minded devotion to this project, I created something special with the help of @putaindeplagieur, @pyropsychiccollector and @notpistol Eventually though as of late last year I wanted to add some story to all of this. Me and @pyropsychiccollector have been spitballing idea's for skits and stuff and yeah. Laughing Man Saga for the family 15 years post Class 78 Graduation and I'm hard at work for the Kamukura/Tragedy story while they're at Hope's Peak.
Bit of a long read and stuff but yeah...I started this all not just to make makoto shippers happy and stuff but because It's therapeutic for me and maybe a few others. I know @makoto-naegi-stud-and-friends has also been making some Naegi centered stuff! I guess also another big part of WHY I made the hope universe is to give characters a better life. Junko is doing much better, Kanade, Ruruka, Seiko, Natsumi, Kotoko, Tsumugi, etc. I just wanted to take all these characters and put them in a better world (not a perfect one) free from all that despair and stuff. Real life is already fuckin miserable here with constant mass shootings, the far right losing their minds over LGBTQIA stuff and corporations turning America into Neo-Feudalism slowly over time. What do I gain from seeing so much darkness in DRA1/SDRA2? And yeah I also wanted to have characters from these fangans get a chance to be happy and stuff since projects either get canceled or we run into the initial dilemma of so much dark and depressing shit.
Dunno. For me at least, I need fluff since I'm always exposed to so much despair in real life. XDDD And I hope you all enjoy the stuff I do~

"I'm curious, Ferhð; What do dragons do when they're courting? Or at least, what does your species do? Do you show off your full wingspan and their coloration? Are gifts to be expected, both giving and recieving? How important is it that your mate be another dragon, or does that matter at all? Is the ability to reproduce vital when choosing a mate in the first place? Is mating...dangerous? If so, how dangerous?" / kaede asking silly questions for science--
Tumblr media
Amusing, to think they knew a bit about their methods, but it wasn't hard to figure out. After all, all beasts had manners to dazzle potential partners for nesting and mating. Smirking a little with a tint of crimson over his cheeks the Dragon fluttered his wings twice before huffing with some embarrassment as the tail coiled behind him and settled at peace. "Well, it depends - for humans, we don't do anything. It's rare, and I've only heard tales of devoting one's warmth, home and food to them. A gesture to show protection, providing meals and safety." He blinked at the memory - the tales were far and old, so he wasn't sure if it was true or not. "Sometimes we die for our partners if we have too. That's rarer than a human parter though. We're pretty selfish."
He sniffed, not minding the term, it was survival of the fittest, and they weren't a species of dragon that didn't see itself as be all and end all. "Sometimes it's a display of ash-dancing, our lungs don't produce flames like normal dragons but a corrosive ashen-gas that burns all the same but more vile. If we can en case you in the ash, you'll be boiled alive as a statue of said ash." He pointed out, claw raised with his point before lowering it with his following words. "We make statues of gifts. Big trees, rocks, crystals - things we can show off our lung capacity - since it'll be a telling sign of how powerful our lungs are to defend the nests."
"Other times we bring gifts from volcanic holes - molten rocks, sulphur's a good one, common but good. Coals more fun - we eat that. Crystal or minimal ores are good for decoration and solidifying nests so we fight over those often if it's a big group." Explaining the oddities of his flocks mating season, it was strange to talk about it all as if he wasn't part of it. "I don't know if you've noticed, but I've laid eggs. Our species doesn't need a partner to make them but to fertilize. Like a common farm bird you humans keep." Rather proud of that - his nose was pointed in the air. "It's dangerous, mostly because of where we nest and live most the time. You finding me here is out of my element. Flat grounds, cold, damp, scarce tree lines. I'm a target here no matter what I do to make it be safer."
Tumblr media
"We nest inside of volcanos. The hotter, the better, our talons are strong enough to dig through molten layers of a volcanoes sides, so we make nests and lay our eggs as close as we can to the magma, it helps hatch the hatchlings faster. In turn, we nest with them until that day - so, a human trying to live in such a place would kill them. That or the Dragons we follow for protection and wealth. Their hordes are delicious in the metals they sleep on, gold is great for nesting decorations as I mentioned before."
"Anything else for your book?"

Nagisa Harem: Mother's Day
Yukiko: Aren't kids the greatest? nwn Akari: *hugs a bouquet of flowers to her chest warmly* They're just the best~ nwn I'll bet it's all Nagisa's influence, too! I was never as sweet as Aguri-chan. So wholesome~ nwn Yukiko: *tilts head a little* Well, I guess Nagato takes after his dad a lot... But Aguri-chan seems a lot like what I remember of you. ... Well, what "Kaede" was like. Akari: *giggles nervously* Y-Yeah... Um. About that. Remember, some of that was an act. (人◕ω◕);;; I could be sweet with my Big Sis, but she was hardly around... My old costars will tell you what I was like at my worst. >_< Aguri-chan isn't a diva like I was. Heck, she's not even an actress, and I'm keeping it that way. @___@*** Yukiko: O-Oh... W-Well, you still got better! n___n; I'm sure Aguri-chan would be fine if she went into showbiz. She's got you and Nagisa. :3 Akari: Don't YOU start! DX *grumble, grumble* So long as Aguri-chan's not looking that way, I'm steering her clear of my worst mistakes. *nods sagely* Yukiko: But... doesn't Aguri-chan already complain about how small she is? Are you gonna stop her if she starts raving about chest sizes way bigger than her? o.o Akari: That's not a mistake, that's a grave injustice!!! DX Stupid genes. >w< Yukiko: n___n;;; Well, Aguri-chan aside... Nagato seems more vested in his sketchbook and his own imagination? Akari: nwn Nagato's a good boy~... He just turned 13, but I can trust he won't run off with just any old girl~... He's too much like his dad! So shy~ nwn Yukiko: He does like to help people, though... n___n;;; Akari: *deadpans* Yukiko-chan, don't ruin this for me. >_> What about Izumi and Junpei, huh? The twins'll be turning 13 next year~... Yukiko: Akari-chan... You know my babies aren't into that stuff yet. n___n* Akari: (人◕ω◕) But they keep getting compliments about their "dashing good looks"? Yukiko: n___n* They'll be fine. They have each other to fall back on... And more importantly, they care more about video game nights with the family than that other stuff you're all anxious about~... Akari: ... I suppose Aguri-chan looks up to them. Yukiko: *nods sagely* n___n They got me an advanced copy of the game based off of Fuwa-chan's latest series~... I'm not worried. My kids are good eggs~! Akari: How'd they do that? I thought that thing wasn't due for a couple months. Yukiko: Fuwa-cha. :3 Don't forget, both our kids enjoy her manga~... Akari: Oh yeah! :3 Well, I suppose that's great for you. I got these - *holds up flowers* - and pudding. nwn Yukiko: ... Pudding? Akari: It's not the mountain we made, but it's still a lot of pudding~! *___* Yukiko: i... see...n___n;;; Akari: Wonder how Rio's faring. Yui-chan's a sweetie... But Konan-chan's a wild card. Yukiko: ... Oh. Akari: What's "oh"? >___> Yukiko: Well, I was wondering where Nagisa got off to. And... I just remembered seeing Yui and Konan handing Rio a big shopping bag from the mall before she ran off to the master bedroom, squealing. Akari: ... Yukiko: Well, it wasn't just any shopping bag... I recognized it as one from a lingerie store... Akari: ......... Yukiko: n___n;;; So we might not be seeing Nagisa for a few hours. Akari: RIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!! (╬ಠ益ಠ)(╬ಠ益ಠ)(╬ಠ益ಠ)(╬ಠ益ಠ)(╬ಠ益ಠ)

HI can I request something? Not that you can answer rn anyways. Kaede fluff where she teaches the reader (GN) her favourite song on the piano? Just really cute stuff y'know
The reason this is getting out sooner than others is because it’s a one character request and it’s super sweet and simple guys just to let you all know - Mod Junko
Tumblr media
Kaede akamatsu teaching her S/O her favorite song on the piano
• “you’ll want your hands to be like if you were holding an egg, you don’t want your fingers to be flat, you want them to be light and not press the keys too hard”
• Kaede was lightly guiding your fingers on the piano keys, showing you exactly how to place your fingertips on the instrument
• she was so soft, so warm, her hands felt like silk against your own hands, not to mention she was sitting next to you with her shoulder touching yours
• “hey am I too close? I’d hate to be invading your personal space”
• you quickly shook your head no and Kaede smiled “would you like another example sweetheart?” You nodded and Kaede gently moved your hands to the side and began to slowly play
• what song did she say this was again? Clair De Lune you believe, it sounded so peaceful and somber, no wonder this was kaede’s favorite
• “it’s okay if you don’t get it perfect, it even took me a while to get this good at it, but maybe I’m just not the best teacher”
• you told her she’s a great teacher and layed your head against Kaede’s shoulder as she smiled
• “I’m willing to teach you as long as it takes for you to learn the song with me’ maybe we can play a duet?”
• Kaede put her hands next to yours to guide your fingers along the correct keys as you both played the song together, you could fall asleep like this it was so peaceful
• “there you go! You’re learning so well, sweetheart.” You smiled so happily that Kaede was proud of you
• after a great piano session Kaede took you both to the dining hall for some food, kaede was super proud of your work on the piano. You two have tons of piano sessions after this, Kaede teaches you even more songs and is incredibly patient while teaching you.
• Kaede is always proud of you for doing so well, the piano is a hard instrument to learn but you adjust quickly and smoothly, she loves you so much

afternoon liveblog! GUESS WHO’S GOT TWO THUMBS AND MORE STUFF FOR THEIR SACRIFICE KOKICHI PINBOARD BABEYYYY
-not tsumugi’s idea of god just being izuru 😭 how did i not catch this easter egg before,,,
-”...cults like these can be reaaally annoying if you get on their bad side.” how do you know that, kokichi?
-i HIGHLY doubt angie was meant to smash that flashback light...in a more interesting version of ch3, tsumugi kills her for this and gets away with it until ch6....i just really wanted them to use the first-come-first-serve culprit rule ok.
-”ummm...what if we get another time limit motive, like the one that got rantaro killed? ...shouldn’t we have a sacrifice prepared, just in case?” “you mean...if someone has to die, we should volunteer someone we resurrected?” COLD, angie, cold. anyway this scene is made WAY funnier if you imagine an extremely offended kaede, rantaro, ryoma, and kirumi watching it on TV.
-kaito is Going Thru It...it’s impossible to tell how much of his suffering is because of his illness worsening and how much of it is his genuine terror at the supernatural, but either way he is straight up not havin a good time rn.
-ok so shuichi and kokichi proceed to have a very long (and completely optional!) side conversation and literally all of it makes me insane so here it is, line-by-line:
-”oh, but angie wants to make rantaro the transfer student, huh? i don’t want him to come back to life.” “why?” “it’s cuz...i love you most, shuichi. i’m always thinking about you...and you’d rather see kaede brought back to life, huh?” “th-that’s...” “you’re so admirable! that’s why i wanna support you! oh wait, that’s a lie!” “...” the og explanation i made for this got a little too personal and a little too sad, so i’ll just say a) again, it’s much easier to make people *think* you’re lying than it is to actually lie, and b) adding ‘but that’s a lie!’ is like saying it’s not gay because you wore socks, OUMA.
-“come to think of it, i once saw this anime that was also about a death game...the mastermind sacrificed a family member as the first victim to get the killing started.” PIN! BOARD! PIN! BOARD! PIN! BOARD!
-“sacrificed a family member? as in...killed them?” “yeah, as a show of force. maybe that’s what happened to rantaro...what if rantaro was working for the mastermind? bringing him back might be a bad idea.” “n-no, that’s idiotic! rantaro couldn’t have been working for the mastermind...” [but...is it really impossible? we only knew rantaro for a short time. he did seem as though he was kind of used to the killing game.] “nee-heehee...looks like you’re starting to understand what i’m getting at, shuichi.” FROTHS AT THE FUCKING MOUTH,,,they both clocked how sus rantaro is but because of the way kaede’s death spent them tailspinning in opposite directions (natural extrovert kokichi becoming isolated and paranoid bc he thinks he’ll end up like her + natural introvert shuichi fighting his own caution to integrate into the group bc he has to fulfill her wish) they can’t have a real conversation about it. I Am So Normal About This.
-FTE time - this time kokichi’s second one! (this is just his episode, apparently). the fact that we know his love of yu-gi-oh is genuine because he really obviously based his outfit off of seto kaiba is fantastic, but my favorite bit is that he “plays” by drawing random cards and seeing who’s number is bigger - the hallmark of kids who collected the pretty cards but had no idea what the actual rules were (like me and all seven of my siblings hpshjdhbsgdh).
-one of maki’s next! shuichi telling her her backstory sounds fake is funny for like, eight different reasons. the holy salvation society’s strategy of being so suspicious for cult reasons no one realizes they’re suspicious for assassin reasons is also great. (shuichi is...bizarrely slow on the uptake here, though. maki saying ‘god really doesn’t exist in this world’ and shuichi responding with ‘so, you’re a devotee in the cult?’ made me ?????. it’s so out of character i can’t even be mad at maki calling him a fucking dumbass. she’s right!)
-kaitoooo :[ don’t call yourself pathetic for being sick, please,,,,
-”i think...himiko has gotten so lazy, she’s given up on thinking for herself...that’s why she’s depending on angie.” bold move to describe joining a cult because you’re suicidally depressed as “lazy”, but i suppose i can’t fault tenko for something that’s more a flaw with DR itself. her heart is in the right place, at least.
-”she thinks she’s [kami-sama]’s vessel, so she doesn’t feel guilty about anything she does.” “and that’s why you want me to kill her?” “huh!?” “asking someone like me for a “favor” can only mean one thing.” “...i...won’t deny that. i’ve wanted her gone even before all this happened. and i think everyone has wanted someone to die at least once in their life...but going through with it is a different thing! it’s wrong for a person to commit murder! it doesn’t matter what the reason is!” i disagree but i think it’s Neat seeing where all the V3 characters fall on this moral spectrum!!
-not maki and kaito having the exact same ‘just bang on the door 1 billion times’ strategy 😭 that’s rlly funny actually.
-”no, angie. that’s not possible. the bodies were not fakes. i’m positive. especially after seeing the wax effigies. the effigies were nearly perfect, but the real bodies still had traces of a soul. a soul desperate to live, struggling, fighting for life...that’s something that can never be replicated. no matter what technology you have, you can’t fake a soul.” how does he apply this to kiibo, i wonder...?
-”[kami-sama] says that if we do the ritual, everyone who has died up till now will come back. so...if those four really are dead, then the resurrection ritual will surely work.” she’s switched from bringing back rantaro to bringing back everyone...!? that’s not what monokuma promised.
-”if you’re gonna slow me down, i’ll turn you into a wax effigy! nyahahaha!” JESUS H CHRIST
-tenhimi breakup scene :((( the babygirls r so toxic,,,
-”you should let shuichi tell you how to apologize. he’s really good at it.” i...can’t tell if this is meant to be an insult or not......
-that’s the end of day twelve! see you next time :]

Case File: Kidnapped Kaede
Kaede goes missing during a class trip. Her sister Miu, the Ultimate Adventurer, is determined to find her. With the help of the Ultimate Maid, Kokichi, The Ultimate Detective, Kiibo, and the Supreme Leader, Rantaro.
[Miu/Kokichi/Kibo]
[Hopes Peak AU, Talent Swap, Pre-Relationship, Human Kiibo, Kidnapping]
@dr-rarepair-week-blog
"Knock knock!" The cheerful voice floated from the other side of Miu's door, but she chose to ignore it. Pulling the blanket over her head and keeping her eyes closed, barely roused from sleep and hoping that she would fall back under. She was warm and cozy and entirely unwilling to get out of bed. If only the stupid maid would get that through his stupid head.
"Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey. Get up now or get the shaky!"
Miu frowned. The voice sounded much closer than before. She definitely remembered locking the door though, so there should be no way that he could get into the room.
"Alright, you asked for it!" That was all the warning she'd gotten before the damn runt jumped onto the bed, causing her to bounce hard enough that she was propelled out of bed.
"What the shit!" she yelled as she sat up from the hard floor. Her entire backside hurt from the impact and the cozy feeling from moments ago vanished entirely. She glared at the bed where her maid was sitting primly and smiling at her.
The imp of a boy on her bed was known as Kokichi Ouma and he was a nightmare to deal with some days. He smiled at her with a bright and innocent expression that was utterly false, cheer in his purple eyes, and a slight messiness to his dark hair. His legs were crossed, which she was entirely grateful for since she would otherwise be able to see up his skirt. Ever since she'd made a crack about him being the Ultimate Maid, he'd started dressing like one on occasion, something that affected her entirely too much.
"I warned you to get out of bed, Mistress Miu, but someone didn't listen," he said in a sing-song voice.
"How the fuck did you get in here?" She demanded. "The door was locked."
He tilted his head to the side. "Oh, was it? Are you absolutely sure about that?"
Yes, she was very sure. No innocent look from him would change her mind. She knew that all of his innocent looks were full of shit anyway and just something he flashed to her parents to make himself look good. If her father knew what a mischievous brat he'd saddled her with, Kokichi would be fired in a heartbeat. Trying to catch him out had only ever gotten her in trouble though, so she'd largely stopped trying and accepted her fate. Most days, at least.
Miu groaned as she picked herself up off the ground, rubbing her sore rear as she did so. She muttered curses under her breath as she dragged her blanket back onto her bed.
"Uh oh! Did Mistress Miu injure herself?" There was far too much cheer in that question and she glared at him twice as hard to no avail. "Shall I prepare a massage to treat your aches?"
It almost irritated her more when he was good at his job and actually helpful than when he was being a little shit.
"Fuck you!" she yelled. "Why did you wake me up?"
"Oh? Did you want to be late for school? My bad!" Kokichi hopped off her bed with damnable ease. He had too much energy and too much dexterity. She'd tried to make him slip up multiple times but it never worked. Then his words caught up to her brain.
"Wait, what?" she asked in a small voice, looking at the clock. "I'm gonna be late!"
She ran to her door and flung it open. Two steps out the doorway he yelled, "It's a lie!" And she tripped over her own feet in surprise.
His laughter floated after her, excessive and wild. "You... you should have seen... your face!"
Miu glared at him over her shoulder without getting up. He was on his back, kicking his legs up and holding his stomach. The damn brat was such a sadist. "I hate you so much!"
His laughter slowed down gradually and he met her eyes, holding her gaze long enough to make her blush and look away. "No you don't," he said with a smile. He got to his feet then came to pull her up onto her own. "Breakfast is downstairs. You should eat before it gets cold."
"Yeah, yeah," she grumbled. She dragged her feet as she began walking toward the stairs. "Wait, why did you wake me up?" she asked.
"Nishishi!" He laughed as he sprinted away. Most annoying maid of all time, she was sure.
It was only after she got to the dining room that she figured out why he had woken her up. There was a class trip today. She had roughly two hours to get ready and get to school. That was plenty of time, which was probably why the gremlin had felt like he had time to mess with her. She stuffed her face with sausage, eggs, and toast, ignoring the fruit he'd cut and shotgunning her juice. Then she raced off to shower.
Kokichi was waiting for her at the door, dressed in his normal clothes. They both went to Hope's Peak Academy and had agreed early on that when they were at school, they were just classmates. As soon as they stepped out the door, he stopped being a servant and none of their classmates knew about their lives outside of school.
"Walking or riding?" he asked her.
She gave him a look. "You're crazy if you think I'm walking to school after what you did to me."
He gave her his innocent smile again. "I offered you a massage to fix it."
"Shut up," she grumbled. As if she could let him touch her like that while he was dressed as a goddamned french maid. Was he trying to kill her on purpose? Knowing him, he probably was.
He laughed as if he knew exactly what she was thinking, opening the door and holding it for her to go first. She did, not looking back as she walked forward and slid into the backseat of the car. Sometimes he rode with her to school. This was not one of those times. He closed the door for her and then the driver was pulling off immediately. Miu found it easier not to watch whether he would get into the car with her or not, not to watch him as they drove off. It made something in her ache and she didn't like to think of it.
"Miu! Good morning!" Kaede greeted her as soon as she walked through the door, enveloping her in a hug. Ever since their parents split, she didn't get to see much of Kaede. Mother was always pushing her from one concert to the next. Both of them being enrolled in Hope's Peak was the most that they got to see each other in years.
If she was honest, Kaede was the reason that she had developed her talent as the Ultimate Adventurer at all. Father was much more lax with her than mother ever was, letting her do as she pleased with little restrictions. He would have gladly let Miu and Kaede see each other when they wanted, but the same couldn't be said for mother, who was ambitious and strict and not generally concerned with the desires of others. If Miu wanted to see her sister, she'd had to take things into her own hands. That had started as biking halfway across the city to watch Kaede's recitals and evolved into taking a plane across country to see her performing huge concerts.
"What's up, blondie?" Miu asked with a grin.
Kaede grinned back, reaching out to tug on Miu's hair. "What's with that nickname? You're blonde, too."
"What? Want me to call you a piano freak like everybody else?"
They bickered their way across the classroom until they got to their seats.
"Morning Shuichi," Kaede waved to her best friend, who gave her a shy smile behind his hat.
"Ah, Morning Kaede. Good Morning, Miu." Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Inventor, was kind of a wreck of a person. He was almost too shy to function sometimes and when Miu had first met him, he could barely string together a full sentence without wincing away from her. He rarely had that problem with Kaede though, so Miu figured that she was the problem. Didn't mean she planned on changing though.
An idea lit up in Miu's mind and she slammed her hands on Shuichi's desk in excitement, causing him to flinch. "I need you to make me something!"
"U-um... okay? Depends what it is?" Shuichi replied nervously. He kept looking at Kaede until her sister dutifully pulled Miu back a bit.
"Miu, do you have to be so aggressive when you ask for things?" she questioned. "And have you tried using please or thank you?"
Miu rolled her eyes. "I'll thank you not to police my speech, please." Kaede placed her hands on her hips, not appreciating the sarcasm. "And Shuichi knows that I don't mean anything by it. Tell her, Shuichi!"
"U-um..."
"Anyway, I need something to prank my bitch of a maid," Miu explained. "The little shit pissed me off this morning and I need to get revenge or I'll never be happy again."
Kaede sighed. "You're still fighting with the maid?" she asked. "I thought you said they weren't that bad."
"Well, I changed my mind," Miu declared. "Again." She was always changing her mind where Kokichi was concerned. As long as no one knew that she was talking about Kokichi, she could change her mind as much as she wanted.
"I think you like this maid and that's why you fight all the time," Kaede said with a smirk.
Miu shoved her lightly. "Bite your tongue! I would never like that brat."
"Uh huh. Sure you wouldn't."
Shuichi slid lower in his seat as they argued over his desk.
"Who missed me?" Miu hated the way she went quiet and looked toward the door when Kokichi appeared. He looked carefree and happy when he walked through the door, his eyes scanning the classroom before he went in the opposite direction of her. "Rantaro, my beloved!"
Rantaro Amami, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, laughed as Kokichi threw himself into his arms. He didn't look like he minded at all, easily opening his arms and embracing Kokichi in a way that made something in Miu burn. It was probably indigestion, on account of how their displays of affection were sickening.
"Good morning, Kokichi. How are you today?" Rantaro asked.
"All better now that I'm in your arms," he answered.
Rantaro laughed again, petting Kokichi's head. He was always so indulgent with the imp. Miu didn't get it.
"He's energetic as always," Shuichi said, sitting up straight again now that the attention had moved off of him.
"Those two should learn to keep it ion their pants," she said, probably too loudly if the way Kaede's eye twitched was any indication.
"Miu!"
"What?" she demanded. "If they're gonna make out they should at least do it where we don't have to see it."
Kaede frowned at her, but didn't bother trying to scold her again. It rarely worked after all. She said something to Shuichi, probably an apology on Miu's behalf, but Miu's mind was already across the room again.
"You seem to be in high spirits today," Kirumi Toujo, the Ultimate Robot, said.
Kokichi was nodding. "What about you, Kirumi. Any cool new features to report? Can you turn your feet into rockets yet? Or shoot lasers from your mouth?"
Kirumi was the picture of poise and grace, even when dealing with the gremlin's chaotic person. "As I have reported before, I have no intention of getting such features installed. My intention is to be as human as possible. Normal humans do not have such features and so neither do I."
"But consider this," Kokichi said. "It would be cool as fuck!"
Rantaro laughed. "What are you so obsessed with Kirumi being able to fly?"
"Can't I just want the best for my classmate?" he asked.
"Thank you for your consideration," Kirumi said. "But I am exactly as I wish to be."
Kokichi slumped against Rantaro. "Well I'm not."
"What's wrong, Kichi?" Rantaro asked, leaning down slightly to peer at Kokichi's face. Miu felt her eye twitch. It was a stupid nickname for a stupid person, she didn't care at all.
"What's wrong is that my beloved Rantaro still hasn't sweep me off my feet and brought me into the loving embrace of his organization!"
"My organization is dangerous, Kichi, I don't want you to get hurt."
"If it's dangerous, all the more reason for the Ultimate Maid to take care of you."
Miu slammed her hand on her desk. "If  you're gonna throw yourself at him that hard, you may as well just bend over so he can fuck you already!"
"Miu!" Kaede gapsed. She placed a hand on her shoulder. "What's gotten into you?"
Kirumi glared at her. "That is inappropriate and I would appreciate it if you did not make such crude remarks about my friends."
Kokichi was watching her with a careful expression. She didn't know what it meant, but it pissed her off anyway. Before she could say anything though, the teacher came in to collect them for their field trip. She made up her mind to ignore Kokichi for the rest of the day.
Miu was grumpy through most of their field trip. She ended up sticking close to Kaede and Shuichi, listening to their conversation more than contributing. She didn't think the day could get worse until they were at the end of the trip and Kaede slipped off to the bathroom without her and hadn't returned ten minutes later.
"What the fuck is taking her so long?" she grumbled. "I'd think she was banging someone in the bathroom, but you're still out here," she told Shuichi.
Shuichi seemed caught off guard, as he usually was by her. "H-huh? But we're not--"
"Cram it, Shuichi! That's not the point!"
He jerks away from her, pulling his hat lower on his head as if he could hide from her censure. "Maybe you should check on her?"
She sighed, pushing herself off the wall. "Yeah, I'll be right back." Miu practically kicked the door open when she got to the bathroom. "The hell are you doing in here Kaede?"
There was no answer. She walked through the bathroom and found all the stalls empty. A small panic began to rise in her as she took out her phone and called Kaede's number. There was no answer. She called three more times as she stumbled out of the bathroom and back to where she left Shuichi. He looked alarmed when he noticed that she was alone.
"Where's--"
"She wasn't there!" Miu yelled. "And she isn't answering her phone!"
Her classmates were taking note of her as she dial Kaede again, impatiently tapping her foot as she waited. When there was no answer again, she tossed her phone. "Damnit!"
She noticed Kokichi jumping to catch it out of the corner of her eye before it slammed into anything.
"What's wrong?" Rantaro asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"Kaede is fucking gone," she yelled. She kicked the wall.
"What do you mean, gone?"
Shuichi spoke up, seeing that Miu wasn't in the mood to explain. "Kaede went to the bathroom twenty minutes ago, but when Miu went to check on her, she wasn't there. She's also not answering her phone."
"Has anyone else seen Kaede?" Rantaro asked everyone. There were murmurs but no one said anything. "Kiibo, can you help me look around?"
Kiibo Idabashi, the Ultimate Detective, stepped up quickly. "Yes, please tell me which bathroom she was in. I'll look for clues."
Kirumi stepped forward. "I'll go with you, in case there is anyone else in there."
"Thank you."
Miu slid to the ground against the wall, barely listening as Rantaro split the class up around them. She didn't know what she would do if something happened to Kaede. She felt someone sitting beside her and she looked over to see Kokichi next to her. He was close enough that their shoulders brushed.
"Talk to me," he said sternly. His eyes on hers were serious in a way she rarely saw them and his expression was nearly blank.
Miu couldn't help but follow his order. "What if we don't find her?" she asked quietly.
"We will," he said firmly.
"I already lost her once, when our parents split up and I did everything I could to keep from losing her for good. If she's gone... If anything happens to her..." A sob escaped her throat and she pressed her hand to her mouth, trying to keep it in.
Kokichi placed his hands on her shoulders. "We'll find her," he said again. "You're the Ultimate Adventurer. You'll be able to track her down no matter where she is. And I'll help you. With the Ultimate Maid at your side there's nothing you can't do."
"Kokichi..." She pulled her legs up to her chest, burying her head in her arms as she cried. Kokichi pulled her close, whispering comforting words to her as he rubbed her back. He pulled back when her tears slowed and she wiped the tears off her face. "Thanks..."
Kokichi held out her phone. "It's a maid's job to serve their master, right? But since I'm the Ultimate Maid, you can consider me your trump card."
The others returned empty handed, but part of Miu was already feeling a bit better. She wouldn't give up. She wouldn't leave Kaede behind. Whatever happened to her sister, Miu would find her.
"No one's seen her," Rantaro reported sadly. "But I don't intend to let that stop us. I'll put out the word to my entire organization and have them look for Kaede."
"I will do my best, too," Kiibo promised. "I won't let something bad happen to one of my classmates."
"Thanks," Miu said softly.
"I'll make sure she gets home," Kokichi told them. "You guys should make sure the teacher and the school know what's up."
"I-I'll talk to Kaede's Mother," Shuichi offered. "I've met her before, so..."
"Thanks, Shuichi." Miu stood up, offering Shuichi a smile. "I know our mother can be a real bitch, so I really appreciate it."
"I... I want to do what I can," he said. "So if there's anything I can do for you, let me know."
"Who knew that Shuichi could be so reliable," Kokichi said cheerfully. "I'll text you a list of useful things that you should start working on right away!"
"Huh? A-alright," he agreed.
Kokichi bumped his hips with hers. "Come on. Let's get you out of here."
Miu didn't argue. The car was waiting for them when they went outside and Kokichi rode with her as they went home.
Miu was woken up the next day via water balloon. She gasped, sitting up straight just in time to be hit in the face with a second water balloon and realized how drenched she was. "Fucking hell!"
"Good morning, Mistress Miu," Kokichi sang from the doorway.
"Kokichi, you little shit!" She screamed as she jumped out of bed, her legs tangling in the wet bedding and nearly tripping her up.
"I've drawn you a bath, so you ought to go wash up first," he told her. "I'll go start breakfast. Don't wait too long or you might catch a cold." He waved as he ran off and she screamed after him in wordless rage.
Rather than stand there cold and wet, Miu stomped off to the bathroom to have her bath. The water was still hot when she got there and perfumed with her favorite scent. She felt so relaxed that she nearly fell asleep. Time seemed to drift away from her along with her worries as she blanketed herself in bubbles and let herself relax.
"Don't go drowning on me."
Miu blinked her eyes open and tilted her head to see Kokichi standing in the doorway. "Never took you for a peeping tom," she said around a yawn.
He rolled his eyes. There were enough bubbles that he probably couldn't see her anyway and there was a towel right beside that she could  wrap around herself if she really wanted. She could also just tell him to leave, but she didn't. She waited, curious to see what he would do. Despite the pranks he sometimes pulled on her, Kokichi was fairly professional with her.
"Turn around," He told her. "I'll wash your hair."
"I can wash my own hair," she told him. There was no heat to her objection, though.
Kokichi gave her a flat look. "Shut up and let me take care of you," he said.
Miu felt like the words knocked her flat off her feet and obediently turned her back to him. He dipped a small pitcher into the water and poured it over her head. It felt nice. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes. He poured the shampoo in his palm before lathering her hair, scratching her scalp in a soothing manner. She sighed in pleasure. He poured another pitcher of water over her head, shampooed her hair a second time, then rinsed her again.
"Breakfast is ready," he told her as he moved away from her. "I talked to your father last night about Kaede. He hasn't heard anything but he'll tell you if he does. Our classmates want to come here to coordinate their search efforts. Is that okay with you?"
"Of course it is," Miu answered quickly. "If it'll get Kaede back closer, I don't care what I have to do."
"I thought you'd feel that way," he told her. He pulled her hair into his hands once more, squeezing out the access water before wrapping it in a towel. "They should be arriving shortly after you finish dressing."
She smiled. "You little shit."
"Do you want them to know about me?" Kokichi asked. "I know that we agreed not to bring it up at school, but..."
"I don't care," she told him. She gestured for him to turn around and he complied immediately. She stepped out of the bath, wrapping a towel around her body before stepping back into his sight. He moved to drain the bath. "Like I said, Kaede is more important right now. If you want to keep it a secret..."
"Mistress Miu." Kokichi was watching her with serious eyes. "I told you already, didn't I? I'm your trump card. Use me. Don't hold back."
She nodded.
He left the bathroom without another word.
Miu was dressed and in the dining room ten minutes later. She was pouring syrup over a stack of french toast she wasn't sure she would end up eating when there was a knock at the door. She saw Kokichi going toward the door out of the corner of her eye. He was wearing his maid dress with that stupid frilly thing on his head making his hairt lok a little tamer than usual. She didn't think anything of it until she heard the voice at the door, at which point she promptly choked.
"Oh, um, I'm a friend of Miu," Shuichi said. His voice was just as uncertain as always. She wasn't sure how to feel about the fact that he didn't recognize Kokichi in a dress.
"Mistress Miu is in the dining room," Kokichi answered. He was using the formal tone he put on when talking to Miu's father. She didn't know whether he was playing into Shuichi's misunderstanding or being professional because the situation called for it. Either way it freaked her out a little when he was serious like this. "Breakfast has been served, so please help yourself."
"Oh, um, thank you," Shuichi said. A few moments later he was peeking his head into the dining room. "Ah, good morning."
"Hey Shuichi," she greeted. "You're here early."
He nodded, moving to take a seat across from her. "I talked to Ms. Akamatsu. She seemed upset, but didn't volunteer any information. I checked her mail like Kokichi suggested--"
Miu choked on her food. "You what?"
Shuichi paused in gathering a pile of fruit to his plate. "Um, one of the things Ouma asked me to make was a device to hack into phones. I made it before going to see Ms. Akamatsu because I didn't think she'd be very forthcoming. Anyway, he emails revealed that someone had been threatening her for a while, but she refused to give in."
"So it's mother's fault Kaede got taken," Miu said calmly. "There should be a ransom or something in that case, right?" If there was, getting Kaede back would be easier than she thought.
Shuichi shook his head though. "Nothing indicated that she received a ransom."
Miu groaned. "Of course it wouldn't be that easy." She shoved more food into her mouth. Shuichi did the same but more sedately.
Another knock at the door had Kokichi moving in her peripheral again.
"Hello, I'm here to see..." Kiibo's chiper voice drifted off suddenly. Miu assumed that he was noticing what Shuichi had failed to.
"Mistress Miu is in the dining room," Kokichi said. "I'll take you there."
"Kokichi?" Kiibo questioned. "You..."
"This way."
The two emerged a moment later from the hall, Kiibo still watching Kokichi curiously. Whatever was on his mind was put aside though as he came toward the table and Kokichi scurried off toward another knock on the door.
"I found something," Kiibo began.
Miu almost knocked her chair over as she stood. "What? What is it?"
"After you left yesterday I searched the bathroom and came up with this." Kiibo held up a piece of paper. "It's written in french. Mostly a warning but I think I was able to get a few clues about where they may have taken Kaede."
"That's great Kiibo!" Miu spun around quickly to face the new voice, surprised to see Rantaro and Kirumi standing in the doorway with Kirumi at his side.
"As expected from an Ultimate Detective," Kirumi agreed.
Kokichi placed a hand on her arm, grabbing her attention. "I'll pack a bag for you in case you need it, Mistress Miu."
"Thanks Kokichi."
Kokichi nodded, righting her chair before leaving the room.
"Wait, that was Kokichi?" Shuichi questioned.
Miu laughed. The knot that was in her gut unraveled a bit. With her classmates help, she was sure she would find Kaede.
"I guess you're the client that he's always telling stories about," Rantaro said.
Miu looked at him with wide eyes. "What? He talks about me?"
Kirumi was nodding. "He's told many stories about the house he serves. I have to admit, I never expected the Mistress he's always talking about to be one of our classmates."
"If we could get back on track," Kiibo said.
Rantaro smiled. "Just tell me where to look and I'll have my people on it."
Miu tapped the tabletop. "Sit down, fuckers. You might as well talk over breakfast since we have all this food here."
Rantaro's people combed the city. Kokichi spread a map out onto a table o that they could start marking off areas that had been fully searched before moving to the next. Shuichi and Kirumi left a few hours into the meeting, returning with small trackers and communication devices that were newly made.
"Kirui makes a great assistant," Shuichi said with a smile when they commented on how quickly he had worked.
By the end of the day, there were only a few places of interest that hadn't been searched and Miu had offered them all rooms for the night. Kokichi had prepared a room for them all earlier and it took some convincing to have the others in bed by midnight, but overworking wouldn't help anyone. That's what Miu told them, anyway. The reality was that she planned to take the situation into her own hands now that things had been narrowed down.
Kokichi gave her the bag he packed, filled with a few small weapons, snacks, and a first aid kit. She swung it onto her back as they headed for the door. Kokichi had already changed into normal clothes, dark and easy to blend into the dark, just like her own. They slipped one of Shuichi's trackers onto them in case anything happened and fiddled with the communication devices to make sure they remembered how to work them after Shuichi's demonstration.
Once their preparations were complete, the went toward the door. They were both surprised to find Kiibo waiting for them. He dusted off his pants as he stood. "You two ready?"
She and Kokichi both looked at each other, but it was Kokichi that spoke. "Um, Kiibo, are you trying to break out of the house?" He grinned in his usual carefree way. "If you didn't like the hospitality you could have just said so."
Kiibo sighed. "Let's not waste time. You both intend to find Kaede tonight, don't you? I'm a detective. I can help."
"You've already helped," Miu said. "Unless you've been holding out on us."
"It's super late, Kiiboy. You should get to sleep so that you can be in tip top form tomorrow," Kokichi added.
Kiibo shook his head, pressing his lips together firmly. "I'm going. Even if I wasn't motivated to complete this quest, I don't want you two going off alone."
Kokichi glared at him. "She doesn't need your help, Kiibo. She has me."
"And who has you?" Kiiboy questioned. "This could be dangerous. I'm not letting you two out of my sight."
Miu let out a heavy sigh. "Arguing about it won't get us anywhere," she said. "Come on, you can ride with me."
Kokichi frowned at this, but didn't say anything. He silently lead the way out the house, locked the door, and headed toward the motorcycles  that rested in the garage.
She knocked her shoulder against his. "Come on, don't be that way. You don't want a passenger holding you back, do you?"
Kokichi bit his lip. "If he turns out to be dead weight, he'll drag you down."
"And I'll have you there to drag me back up," she said with a smile. "I can't have you being bogged down or else you won't be able to save my sorry ass."
That pulled a smile onto his lips. "Well, I suppose you can make a pretty sorry sight when you get into trouble."
Kiibo didn't comment on their aside, following them at a respectful pace to allow them an illusion of privacy. When they mounted their backs though and he wrapped his arms around her, he whispered, "Thanks. I won't let you down."
They moved quickly toward the area that Kiibo had marked as most suspicious. Kokichi took the lead. The first area didn't give them any clues, even after they dismounted and walked around for half an hour. The second didn't fare much better. The next place they looked, two cities over, was better.
Kiibo found something suspicious fairly quickly and led the way as they investigated. Miu wasn't as surprised as she should have been when someone grabbed her arm from behind and Kibo took a baseball bat to the back of the head.
"Kiibo!" A hand was slotted over her mouth.
"Look what we have here," the man said. "The other Akamatsu brat. I knew you'd come sniffing around if we waited long enough."
Miu stomped down on the man's foot. He screamed and pushed her against the wall.
"Why you!" He was cut off as Kokichi jumped onto his back. "The hell is this?"
Kokichi held a knife to the man's throat. "Touch her again and you're dead."
The man laughed. "You think I'm afraid of you, kid?"
Kokichi smirked. "I don't need you to be afraid. Just stupid." He juped off the man's back and Miu ran forward, jabbing the taser she'd taken from her bag into his side. He screamed and frowned.
Kokichi turned around and tossed his knife, hitting the man with the baseball bat as he tried to sneak up behind them. It didn't stab him, just banged against his head and clattered to the ground, but that was all she needed. She charged him, pressing the taser into his stomach until he collapsed just like his friend. Kokichi kicked him in the head after he fell to the ground, just to be safe, then he scooped up his knife.
"I'll check their pockets, you get Kiibo."
"Got him," she agreed. She went over to where Kiibo was slumped over. He wasn't passed out, like she had thought, but from the rapid blinking he was doing, he was dazed. "Hey, you still with me, Kiibo?"
Kiibo pressed his eyes closed and leaned forward until his forehead was pressed against her shoulder. "Check id... find employer," she said softly.
"Way ahead of you Kiibo," Kokichi told him. He took out his phone to use the flashlight, taking various cards out wallets and dropping anything he didn't deem useful. "He bleeding?"
Miu felt around the back of his head as gently as he could. He winced a bit, but she didn't feel anything wet or stick. "Nope."
"Then he'll be fine," Kokichi said. "Tatami corp," Kokichi read from one of the badges.
"One of your father's rivals," Kiibo said softly. Their building is around here. There's... suspicion around the basement, probably... probably there..."
"I've never heard of them," Miu said. "They can't be that big, right?"
Kokichi reached down to lift up Kiibo, letting his arm rest on Kokichi's shoulder. "Which building is it? Can you point the way?"
Kiibo said something in Kokichi's ear that had him blushing. "You must have a concussion. Let's go."
"Well?" Miu asked. "Which way?"
Kiibo looked  around a few times, then he pointed.
"Got it," Kokichi said, moving them slowly forward.
Kiibo seemed recovered enough to walk on his own again when they reached the building. Kokichi picked the lock on the first door easily, Kiibo deduced the password on the second, and Miu tasered the first security guard they came across.
"They'll be on us soon," Kiibo said. "We need to get to the elevator and head to the lower floors." He looked at Kokichi. "Did you happen to grab any key cards?"
Kokichi made a fan of the cards he swiped from their attackers. He grinned as he asked, "Will any of these do the trick?"
Kiibo examined the key card, then the keys. After a full minute of staring he picked one, swiped it through the reader, and had them going down to the lowest floor. "We'll make our way up," he told them.
Basement level 3 was used as storage and mostly empty. Level 2 was a maze of hallways that they needed Kiibo to help them navigate.
":You're not as dumbas you look, Kiiboy," Kokichi said once they made it to the room they suspected they were looking for.
"And you are not as incompetent as you act," Kiibo replied. "I can see why Miu keeps you despite how often she complains about your service."
Kokichi grinned. "I'm a perfect servant," he said. "Graceful, obedient, never done anything wrong in my life."
"The only perk you have is that you look good in a skirt," Miu grumbled.
Kokichi's smile widened.
Miu blushed and looked away, embarrassed that he heard her.
"You are right about that," Kiibo agreed to both their surprise. "But I think that you would look just as good in the same outfit."
Miu's face turned even redder. "Kokichi might have been right about that concussion."
"Only a minor one," Kiibo said. "But it seemed like a good excuse to confess my attraction without having to deal with it until later."
Kokichi stared at him for a moment, lips slowly turning up in a smile. "You sly son of a bitch!"
"We should keep going," Miu said. "Kaede's waiting."
They both agreed, but Miu couldn't deny that the thought would be with her just like Kiibo wanted.
They found Kaede in the next room, just as expected. She was tied up and laying on a lounge. Miu was at her side near instantly, pulling at the ropes and tugging her free.
"Kaede! Kaede! Can you hear me?"
"Miu..." Kaede's voice was hoarse.
Kokichi took a water bottle out of her bag and held it up to Kaede. "Come on, small sips," he told her. "Just a little, then we get you out of here."
Kokichi got a few sips down her throat before he poured a bit into his palm and splashed it on her face. Kaede gasped, waking up more fully. "What?"
Kokichi held the bottle up again. "Water," he told her.
Kaede drank. As soon as she was done, miu traped her in a careful hug. "I'm so, so glad that we were able to find you."
Kaede smiled, hugging her back. "I never doubted you."
Sneaking out of the building was easier than sneaking in. No one else seemed to be lurking about so they were able to leave without incident.
"Not sure if you two are in any position to hold onto the back of a motorcycle," Miu said.
Kokichi already had his phone out. "Rantaro gave me the numbers of a few of his people. I'm sure one of them will answer and we can be on our way to the hospital easy. I'll contact your father afterwards and he'll take care of the rest."
"Thanks, Kokichi," Miu said. "You really are the most reliable person I know."
"Nishishi. I'd never let down my beloved Mistress."
She smiled softly. "You two, Kiibo. Thank you."
"I admit to a bit of a selfish motive," he said. "I didn't think I'd get a better chance to endear myself to you both in order to confess my feelings."
"I'd say you've earned at least one date, yeah?" Kokichi said, tilting his head toward Miu. "If you can stand to share with me, of course."
"Bold of you to assume I can stand you at all," she replied. The blush on her face didn't lie though and his expression said that he knew it. "Maybe... a date with the both of you wouldn't be so bad. Once we get Kaede to the hospital, at least."
"Ride's on the way," Kokichi told them. "I'll call your father once we get to the hospital."
Kaede reached out to squeeze Kiibo and Kokichi's shoulders. "Thanks for saving me," she said. "For the record, I approve of the three of you dating."
"Kaede!"
Kaede laughed at her and Miu reddened further. "You can't expect me to listen to all this and not approve, right?"
Miu hid her face in Kaede's shoulder as she hugged her sister tighter. As embarrassed as she was, she couldn't pretend that she didn't feel just a bit happier and brighter than she had earlier. And once she knew that Kaede was okay, then she could think about dates. She wouldn't pretend that it wasn't a thought she was looking forward to.

KLAP Translation: Part 4
Getting settled in
Tumblr media
Koyomi: "Alright everyone, this is the current pension problem facing Japan."
Koyomi: "The discussion is a bit difficult but, did everyone listen to it properly?"
Kanade: "Aye. I even left notes in my notebook."
Koyomi: "As expected, Kanade-kun, such a good student. Then… the one falling asleep a while ago, Touma-kun!"
Touma: "...Wha?"
Koyomi: "From what age can Japanese accept pension payments? What's the answer?"
Touma: "Huh? Ohh... What? Like 300 years?
Koyomi: "Y-You weren't listening at all..."
Koyomi: "Besides! In the first place, humans can't live to be 300 years old!"
Koyomi: "Then...Camil-kun?"
Camil: "Hm... I heard perfectly. They can start accepting it
about 23,800 days after birth."
Koyomi: "Yes, that's ri... Eh? Is that right?"
Camil-kun gave a big thumbs up.
...Alright. I don't really get it but let's go with that. After I again started to explain the pension system...
Touma: "What the heck? After turning 65 they can accept this 'pension' right? Then what about us then?"
Touma: "If we go to the human realm, can we just get free money?"
Koyomi: "Oh... I see. Your age range is completely different from humans."
Sousuke: "I'm the complete definition of youth though~"
Akito: "Hmmm...? In short the money is just being scattered around? The human realm is surprisingly disordered."
Koyomi: "I-I don't think that's how it is. Well, since you're all UMA, and not human you probably can't accept any pensions...?"
Ryou: "Hmm... But we're usually in our human forms, so there might be those secretly getting it~"
Kaede: "Wow, that's low. Ryou, if you do something like that I’ll have nothing to do with you."
Ryou: "N-Not me! Don't say weird stuff like that!"
Kanade: "Hm, money huh. Money has long driven people mad since ancient times. We have to be careful too."
Camil: "Dirty money... Incident of corruption… ...Hah?! Like poisoning your food...?!"
Camil: "...Touma-kun, I might be hungry."
Touma: "Dahh! Just because we sit close together don't think you can just pretend to be all ignorant in front of meeee!"
――A month as passed since I came to Aima Prefecture.
It's only been one month but… My time here has been jam-packed, and my days have flown hecticly.
Rampage and training, ever since that day, I've encountered them countless times. I no longer felt the shock and terror than I did before.
Nowadays, I'm still a bit shoddy, but have been gradually coming to terms in my position as a trainer...at least trying. Well, the only times I trained by myself was in the training room, but…
But either way, I, Yamashiro Koyomi, have been flourishing and growing well.
Koyomi: (...P-Probably...!)

Nowadays, I'm still a bit shoddy, but have been gradually coming to terms in my position as a trainer...at least trying. Well, the only times I trained by myself was in the training room, but...
But either way, I, Yamashiro Koyomi have been flourishing and growing well.
Koyomi: (...P-Probably...!)
Looking at the clock, it was a little past 1 o'clock. Meaning it was lunch time.
Koyomi: "Hm~♪ Time for food~♪"
Today I prepared my own lunch. Though being an adult, a newbie teacher like me doesn't have that much money in the first place.
Koyomi: (I better be sure I start saving up.)
Koyomi: "Okay, thank you for the mea――"
???: "...Oh? That looks good, lemme help myself."
Before I could take my first bite, one of my two fried chicken pieces was relentlessly snatched away.
Koyomi: "No! My fried chicken! Hyuuga-sensei, you're terrible!"
Shinobu: "Huh? That's what happens when a starving, low paid man sees perfectly good fried chicken in front of him. Don't flaunt it around."
Koyomi: "I wasn't trying to flaunt it around! All you're doing is stealing my food, Hyuuga-sensei!"
Shinobu: "Tch... Sheesh. Fine then. Here, how about a piece of mint gum in exchange?"
Koyomi: "I'm not looking for any trades! Ah, hey...! Stop that! Don't touch my fried eggs...!"
Nurarihyon: "Hahaha. Well, aren't you having fun."
Koyomi: "Oh! N-Nurarihyon-sensei. I'm sorry we were being loud..."
Nurarihyon: "It's fine… Well? Have you gotten used to Yomi School, for the most part?"
I pondered over Nurarihyon-sensei's  question a bit… Then nodded with a smile.
Koyomi: "Yes!  I still have a ways to go with my skills but… I want to do my best while I'm here."
Nurarihyon: "...I see. Koyomi-sensei, I have great hopes for you."
Koyomi: "Yes!"
Shinobu: "Ohhh-ohhh~ Overflowing with youth I see."
Shinobu: "Well, if the training gets difficult, you can come to me for advice, okay?"
Shinobu: "You're still fresh meat after all. There's no shame in asking your senpai for a helping hand. You can depend on me too, ya know?"
Koyomi: "...Hyuuga-sensei...!"
Shinobu: "Like this, cleanly in two! If anyone's annoying ya I'll dissect them, no――dismember... I'll take care of them either way!"
Koyomi: "......"
...I've decided.
I won't ask for any help from Hyuuga-sensei. It's not about me, it's about a student possibly in danger. I quickly heard the sound of the door.
???: "Ah sheesh...! Sensei...?! Are you in there?!"
Koyomi: "Huh... Kaede-san? What is it?"
Kaede: "Oh, good...! Sorry, that idiot Ryou-kun is in Rampage again...! Would you come to the cafeteria?!"
Nurarihyon: "That so. Is it that punk Oumi? He's the same as always..."
Shinobu: "Even though he's a werewolf, he's got a brain like a goldfish. Well, we got a newbie willing to do her best right here."
Ignoring such thoughtless words, I ran off towards the cafeteria.
Koyomi: "...Ryou-kun, just wait a bit...!"
I ran to the cafeteria.
There, Ryou-kun's eyes were red, and he had violently mowed down the tables and chairs in the room. The other students looked upon the scene from a distance.
Koyomi: (I have to stop him soon...!)
Ryou: "Gurgh... Gwahh!!"
Koyomi: "Everyone move back...! I'll take over from here!"
I took the training whip into my hand, and slowly approached Ryou-kun.
Ryou: "AHHHHHHHHH!!"
Koyomi: "......?!"
I quickly moved to avoid a chair thrown towards me.
Koyomi: (It's unmanageable to control him in such a huge space...!)
Koyomi: (One way or another, I have to use this whip to calm down Ryou-kun...!)
I gripped my trembling hand onto the whip and stepped forward to swing it.
Ryou: "Gwah?!"
The whip hit directly at his side. It clearly caused him to stagger. I used little strength when I swung it but...
Koyomi: (Like it was explained, for UMA going through Rampage, this whip seems to have a tremendous effect...!)
Without missing a beat, I quickly went to lash again.
Koyomi: "I-If I hit him with this, he should calm down a bit..."
Ryou: "Gwaaaaaahhhh!!"
Koyomi: "H-Huh...?! Wait, does it not have any effect?!"
Annoyed at the whip I lashed at him, Ryou-kun headed towards me at full speed!
???: "Sheesh... It's seems you're not quite ready to do this alone."
A solid, sharp sound of a whip. I turned around, and saw Shion-sensei shrug his shoulders.
Koyomi: "Shion-sensei...!"
Shion: "That being said, first let's handle Oumi-kun's training. I'll show you the ropes, Miss."
Shion-sensei walked briskly and stepped forward, and lashed his whip with conviction.
Shion: "Oumi-kun, prepare yourself accordingly. I'm different from her..."
Shion: "――I won't be nice about it."
A second later, Shion-sensei's whip swung from all directions, striking at Ryou-kun's body.
Ryou: "Gwaaaaaaahhhhh?!"
Shion: "Hahaha...! What a good cry you make...! However... There's still a lot where that came from!"
Koyomi:(W-Whoa...)
Shion-sensei usually seems kind but the expression on his face felt a lot more wicked than usual.
Shion: "There! There, there there there!"
Koyomi: (I-It's almost like he's having fun...)
As I stood there dumbstruck, Shion-sensei continued the training――
Shion: "Now...this will be the end! Cry to your heart's content!"
With one last swing――
Ryou: "Eeeh?! Ahhhhhhhhh!!"
His cry reverberated throughout the room.
Afterward...
After clearing up the disordered cafeteria… As for me, I was critisized by Shion-sensei on the spot regarding my incompetency as a trainer.
Shion: "Honestly... Struggling so much from Oumi-kun's Rampage. I had believed you had improved a bit over this past month, Miss."
Koyomi: "Urgh...! I was under the same impression though..."
Shion: "Either way... You don't have enough conviction towards training, and on top of that, you seem to be very hesitant."
Shion: "These UMA require more than just a kind and sincere teacher."
Shion: "Miss, you are a trainer. To increase your skills as a trainer, please work hard and improve yourself."
Koyomi: "Yes..."
Incidentally――The cause of Ryou-kun's Rampage seemed to have been the egg yolk in his soba resembled the moon.
According to the person in question, he got so aroused he couldn't resist...apparently. It appears the reason behind the first Rampage I witnessed was because of a tennis ball… What an easily triggered condition.
Shion: "Although… It's a problem for Oumi-kun if thats all it takes. To Rampage because he saw the moon in his soba..."
Shion: "*sigh*... He won't be able to go out to the human realm if he can Rampage so easily. Sheesh, he's quite a troublesome one, isn't he?"
――You too, Miss. It felt like that was what he was implying, and all I could do was strain a smile.
Koyomi: "Alright, that concludes this morning's homeroom. Kaede-san."
Kaede: "Stand. Bow."
Students: "Thank you very much."
Once I returned to the staff room, I unexpectedly saw Kanade-kun had stopped by.
Koyomi: "...Kanade-kun? You've been rubbing your eyes for a while now, do you have something in them?"
Kanade: "Urnya... That's not it."
He made a soft fist and softly rubbed around his eyes.
Kanade: "Urnya...Well. I couldn't calm down this morning. Washing my face like this calms me."
Akito: "Huh? Then that means――?"
I heard the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance, and it started to sprinkle outside.
Koyomi: "Ohh... I see now. When a cat washes their face, it means it'll rain."
Akito: "I get in a good mood when the air gets damp myself… I wouldn't mind if it rained everyday, though."
Koyomi: "Wait? But Akito-kun, aren't you able to use your powers to make it rain?"
Koyomi: "If you're that into rain then you could whenever..."
Akito: "Hmm... Well I'd like to be able to do that. It makes me considerably exhausted though. So I only want to use it during significant times."
Koyomi: "Whaaaat~? But you used it to smoothly talk to me when we first met."
Akito: "Of course I would. When I see a beautiful woman like you, Sensei, I can't waste the opportunity. At that time, I had to use all my power to appeal to you, you know?"
Touma: "Tch. The idiot's saying some idiotic stuff."
Akito: "Yeah yeah. Don't be jealous 'cause you aren't popular."
Touma: "What was that?!"
They argued loudly with each other as usual. Facing away from them,  I looked outside the classroom and...
Koyomi: "Oh..."
What started as a soft pitter-patter sound at the window changed into a heavy rain.
Camil: "Oh... It's quite a downpour."
Sousuke: "Whoa, but I didn't bring my umbrella~ Give me a break."
Kanade: "Urnya… I'm weak against the rain. I have no motivation and just want to sleep."
Koyomi: "Hmmm... I see… Kappas enjoy the rain, but Nekomata do not."
Touma: "UMA all have different traits and characteristics. Of course we'll have different views on our surroundings."
Camil: "I'm poor against sunlight. So I always lather myself with sunscreen."
Koyomi: "Huh, kinda similar to girls?"
Sousuke: "I'm a cool Snow Woman type… Therefore, I hate being somewhere not nice and cool. It'd be unthinkable to sweat with such beautiful skin, right?"
Koyomi: "H-Huh, kinda similar to girls..."
Camil-kun is like the quiet girl type. Sousuke-kun is like the bossy type of girl. I'm surprised I classified them like that in an instant.
Koyomi: (Your outlook on life really varies depending on your attitude...)
While we were chatting about such things...
???: "Everybody! You've been excused!"
At the loud voice, the classroom door burst open.
???: "*sigh...* This is a low-level classroom as usual it seems? Looking at this poor place is unbearable!"
With a walk that resembled a wriggly earthworm or a snake, the speaker walked toward us.
Koyomi: "Oh...umm...? W-Who might you me...?"
???: "Hehehe...! Pleased to make your acquaintance, new teacher."
Nagato Haruka:Haruka: "My name is Nagato Haruka!  From the esteemed, renowned, and heir  to the great Nagato Tengu Clan!!"
Koyomi: "T-Tengu clan...?"
Curious about the meaning of that, I glanced towards Touma-kun for answers, but he looked away as if he didn't want to be involved.
???: "As expected of the très bien, Haruka-sama!"
Haruka: "Then! These are Uten and Saten! They are my loyal servants...!"
Uten: Uten: "Uten here!"
Saten: Saten: "Saten here!"
Haruka: "From hereafter, be sure to recognize――"
Koyomi: "...*sigh*..."
I couldn't wrap my head around how to even deal with this guy who appeared so suddenly, and just vacantly nodded.
Koyomi: (H-He's quite a character...)
I unconsciously just stared at him as he stood in front of me. Just from his long, big nose I could understand he was a member of a Tengu Clan.
His followers, Uten and Saten also at first glance had noses large enough to be considered typical for an adult. If that's the norm for them...
Touma: "...W-What do you want? Why ya lookin' at me?"
Koyomi: (...Mm-hmm. Then it would be the case that Touma-kun's nose is short.)
Though, for a human like me,  I really can't understand how they could be so picky about someone with such beautiful facial features...!
Haruka: "Hmmmmm?! Are you perhaps..."
Before I realized, Haruka-kun had got into my personal bubble.
Koyomi: "W-W-W-W-W-W-What is it?!"
Haruka: "...You were enchanted by me, were you not?!"
Nope, not at all.
I was about to deny his remark, bit at a speed to disallow any input from me, he theatrically gestured toward his nose.
Haruka: "No! It's alright! You don't have to say it...! I understand you completely."
Haruka: "My great, elegant nose...! It's only natural for a lady as beautiful as you to be captivated by such a sight...!"
Akito: "Unfortunately, we don't have a lady with such fetishes in this class."
Akito: "You should leave at once."
Haruka: "Hmph, how foolish. The average size of a Tengu's nose is 13cm, but my nose is 20.41cm! There exists no woman who wouldn't be captivated by this nose!"
Koyomi: "Ah, um... I'm not especially interested..."
Haruka: "Urgh... Yes. Yes I understand, lady. It's something you cannot admit in front of others!
Haruka: "But I know the truth. Every lady in the world likes them larger of course...!"
Uten: "The best nose in all of Aima! It's simply magnificent!"
Saten: "No no, not just in Aima, but in all of Japan! All share fierces fall to his charm!"
Haruka-kun looked up towards the sky, and Kanade-kun heaved out a huge sigh.
Kanade: "*sigh*... Sheesh. Haruka is as arrogant as ever."
Sousuke: "Ahaha! It's so funny how he's so riled up about himself. As expected of the No. 1 guy who doesn't listen to anyone but himself."
Camil: "Also known as Freedom Haruka."
Haruka: "...Hm? Well well well? Mayhaps that person over there is...?"
Touma: "......"
Haruka: "A member of the Tengu Clan but with a short nose, Mimasaka Touma-kun! Well! Long time no see!"
Touma: "What you mean 'long time no see', idiot. You're in the class next door, it ain't none of that."
Haruka: "Besides... Huh...? Maybe I'm just imagining it but, did your nose get shorter?"
Touma: "S-Shut it! It hasn't changed!"
Haruka: "Haha, how rude of me! With a short nose like yours, I was worried you'd bump into something and break it off!"
After saying that, Haruka-kun flicked his finger at Touma-kun's nose.
Koyomi: (Wait... I feel like I've seen this scene before...)
Koyomi: (...Oh! Like the old man always picking on others at the bar!)
Koyomi: (Getting picked on is pretty bitter… I understand. I understand you, Touma-kun!)
While I tried to remember something so trivial from the bottom of my heart...
Touma: "Hey, shut up already! Really, why'd you come here in the first place?! Hurry and get back to your own classroom!"
Haruka: "Hahaha! I just came along to say hello to a dear friend. You're such a spoilsport! Well then, adieu!"
Touma: "Just who is your friend?! You scumbag!!"
......
A person, no, Tengu that appeared like a storm. Nagato Haruka-kun...that’s the image I had of him.
Koyomi: "Maybe it's just that he's eccentric… Or is everyone like that in the Tengu Clan...?"
Touma: "Everyone... What do you mean by that? You make it to seem we're a part of the same clan."
Sousuke: "Ahaha! Since he's a part of the Tengu Clan, of course you'd be a part of the same clan as him, Touma! Touma-kun, you really are thick-skullled huh~"
Touma: "Grgh... Ahー Shut up, shut up! That trash Haruka is the exception, a rarity, and a problem child! Don't lump me with that idiot!"
Well, if you look at those two's exchanges, anyone is bound to notice… Unsurprisingly, Touma-kun and Haruka-kun seem to be completely incompatible.
Koyomi:  "But... From his appearance, he really did look Tengu-ish? His nose was really long..."
Touma: "...Huh. Guess I'm just a small-nosed Tengu..."
Koyomi: "Eh? W-What's with the dark mood, Touma-kun? That wasn't a snide comment, just my first impression?!"
Kanade: "In the world of Tengu, having a high nose is recognized as a manly feature."
Koyomi: "Ah... Ohh, I get it. It's similar to height in the human realm..."
That being said, I think that's a matter of personal preference.
Touma: "I don't wanna admit it, but even from my point of view Haruka has a worthy nose. Any woman who saw that nose would fall head over heels for him..."
Koyomi: "I-I don't think that's true..."
Koyomi: (So not only do their habits and features vary by race, their standards of beauty are different too...)
I thought I understood my students' lives and their attitudes well but… It then sunk in that there was still much I didn't know about different species of UMA.
Koyomi: (I better study up more, for their sake too!)
Koyomi: "...That being said, I'd like to know more about my students so if you have any materials I could borrow..."
I thought it was a good idea. I consulted with Nurarihyon-sensei to see if there were any written materials available for me to gain a deeper understanding of each race of my students.
Nurarihyon: "Ohhh, I see. You want to know more about your students? In that case...then let me offer to lend you this file."
From a rack jammed with files, he pulled one out and handed it to me.
Nurarihyon: "When they enroll, we collect personal details over the students."
Nurarihyon: "If you read through this thoroughly, as they say, you'll gain a deeper understanding of them."
Koyomi: "Thank you so much!"
After returning home from school that day. After a short break, I started to read carefully through the materials that were lent to me.
Koyomi: "Then... In order for me to better understand my students, I have to read these materials thoroughly."
I opened the file.
Koyomi: "...First off, who should I start with?"

Koyomi: "Let's check Touma-kun's page..."
I quickly found his page.
Mimasaka Touma
Born January 1st. 73-years-old.
Eldest son of the Mimasaka Tengu Clan
Abilities include summoning wind and flying. Family consists of his mother, younger brother, and three very young sisters. His father is deceased...
Koyomi: "...He's from a single-mother household."
However, the timing and reasons behind his father's death aren't written. I'm not sure if I'll ever get the opportunity… In order to understand the circumstances behind it, I'll have to ask him himself.
Koyomi: "Oh, there's also an exposition on the Tengu Clan."
Originally, the Tengu Clan dressed in Yamabushi clothing, in their hands they held a Hauchiwa, a fan of mighty power.
On their backs were bird-like wings. The one with the high nose was Nakataka Tengu. The one with a bird-like beak is Karasu Tengu――etc. Even though they are both of the Tengu race, these two are treated differently so beware.
Koyomi: "Huh... I didn't know that. There's different types among Tengu..."
Koyomi: "Like I thought there's still so much I don't understand. Keeping that in mind, I need to look into the others as well."
Koyomi: "Let's check Sousuke-kun's page..."
I quickly found his page.
Suou Sousuke
Born March 3rd. 18-years-old.
A very rare male snow woman.
Abilities include causing snow to fall and freezing any object regardless of the weather. Parents are absent. Raised in the orphanage "Mahoroba Garden'' located in Aima's Tokoyo town.
Koyomi: "Sousuke-kun grew up in a home..."
Did he not bring any of that up himself because he didn't want to or because he couldn't?
I'm worried about it but there was another thing I was concerned about.
Koyomi: "His parents are absent but that means they're not dead...right?"
I'm not familiar with the details but, it seems there's different circumstances in the human realm where parents will send their children to a home.
What on earth led him to be left at the orphanage, and how does Sousuke-kun feel about that himself...?
Koyomi: (Would there be any opportunity to ask Sousuke-kun about that...?)
Koyomi: "Let's check Akito-kun's page..."
I quickly found his page.
Suruga Akito
Born May 5th. 168-years-old.
Surugaya
Eldest Kappa son to the large UMA-owned company, Surugaya, with many channels in the human realm.
Abilities include being able to produce rain at will.
Koyomi: "Wow...! Akito-kun comes from a rich family."
Koyomi: "UMA-owned company… Wait, just what sort of business is it?"
Since Kappa can probably make it rain, I wonder if it has to do with water...though that's a simple way of thinking."
Koyomi: "Let's see, what's left...? Oh, about Kappa themselves..."
They have been sighted throughout Japan since ancient times, with differing names and appearances from region to region.
From Western Japan, it is said they came from Mainland China, but in contrast to Eastern Japan, it is theorized they were familiars to the Onmyouji and Yamabushi. Various theories have been proposed, but the truth remains to be unknown.
They like cucumbers and sumo wrestling, but use caution to not pull their arm from one side, as they are connected as one within the body, and if pulled they will fall out.
Koyomi: "Ehh?! T-That's quite the secret… I'll have to be careful."
Koyomi: "That's all there is written about Akito-kun. Keeping that in mind, I need to look into the others as well."
Koyomi: "Let's check Camil-kun's page..."
I quickly found his page.
Camil Settselin
Born July 7th. 333-years-old. A vampire originally from Eastern Europe. Came to Japan during the start of the Meiji era.
Koyomi: "So Camil-kun wasn't born in Japan..."
Koyomi: "And during the Meiji era? Wow."**
As expected of UMA, their perception of time is very different from humans.
Koyomi: "Let's see, this is...? Ohh, this must be information surrounding vampires?"
For their source of life, they prefer living-human blood. When sucking blood, they stab their fangs into the flesh of their prey.
When doing so, it is said they may feels a sense of sexual pleasure, but whoever is sucked by a vampire will too become a vampire.
They can transform their bodies into a bat, wolf, or fog. They can enter any kind of area, but cannot cross flowing water such as rivers.
They may not enter a building they have not entered before unless someone invites them in from inside. Their appearances cannot be reflected in mirrors or glass, when sleeping, they sleep within a coffin in the ground.
Garlic
Many possess a strong force to live a long life, but they are weak to silver weapons and garlic. They burn to ash when exposed to the sunlight.
They take pride in the fact they're so resilient they're nearly immortal. but if a wooden stake is driven into their heart they truly meet death.
Koyomi: "I knew a bit about vampires but,  there are a lot of different findings and weaknesses..."
Though... I've never seen Camil express interest in blood before. I wonder why that is?
Koyomi: "...Well anyway, that's about it for Camil-kun's page. I still have time, so I'll read another one of their pages."
Koyomi: "Let's check Kanade-kun's page..."
I quickly found his page.
Harima KanadeBorn September 9th. 602-years-old. Currently living alone in [Tokoyo Town], in Aima Prefecture.
Nekomata UMA
Koyomi: "Really, 602-years-old… It's really unbelievable now that I think about it."
Koyomi: "Hmmm… Oh, he was born around the Sengoku period."
Koyomi: "......"
Koyomi: "...Sengoku period?!"**
That's somehow so unbelievable it was causing a headache, so I decided to keep reading through the file.
When a cat is kept by a person and dies of old age, it is said if they hold any regrets from life, they will transform into a Nekomata.
When turning into a Nekomata, the cat's tail will split into two, and occasionally walk on two legs. Not only will they understand human speech, but they may speak themselves.
Koyomi: "For any cat lover, the UMA must feel like a dream."
In my home growing up, we had a dog but if they could understand our language, by all means I'd want that.
Koyomi: "But then that means… A long time ago, Kanade-kun had an owner. I wonder what kind of person they were?"
He must've been a cute cat before.
Koyomi: "Hm... That's it for Kanade-kun's page. Then let's continue a bit more to read about the others."
Koyomi: "Huh? Wait, this is..."
The suitable page I had flipped over to… it looks like it has information on Shion-sensei.
This file was just supposed to have details about the students... Did someone make a mistake when organizing the materials? That being said...
Koyomi: "......"
Koyomi: "I-I'm really curious...!"
A man who normally has a beaming smile, but can occasionally spit out harsh words. Besides that impression of him, I really don't know much else about Shion-sensei.
Koyomi: "...I'll...I'll just read a tiny bit..."
Since he wasn't a student but a co-worker, I felt a little awkward reading his profile...
In the end, I decided to read it.
Izumo Shion: Age: Unknown. Origin: Unknown.
Koyomi: "Eh...?"
Koyomi: "His age and origin is unknown...?"
While currently living alone in Tokoyo Town, of Aima Prefecture, he works as a trainer at The UMA Yomi Abyss Vocational High School. He is in charge of the subject World History.
Koyomi: "...That's it...?"
There's only a few lines about it. That was all the information that was written down, and the rest of it was blank.
...For some reason, something felt off with this information.
Koyomi: "It doesn't even say when he started working at the school… I don't think this information makes any sense..."
I was reading the materials about Shion-sensei to know a bit more about him but, on the contrary I just have this odd feeling that there must be a bigger mystery.
Koyomi: "That Shion-sensei...really is a mystery."
Despite worrying about it for a while, I couldn't help what I didn't know.
Koyomi: "In the meantime... My first priority should be learning more about my students."
I nodded, and began to read through other information.
I couldn't stop reading partway through, and ended up reading it in its entirety. By the time I had finished, it was already around 3:00am. I hurried to prepare for tomorrow, and cheerfully crawled into bed.
Koyomi: "Again, there was just so much I didn't know."
The fact that Touma-kun comes from a single-mother household, and finding out Sousuke-kun grew up in a home.
I was surprised to learn about Akito-kun's family business, and on top of that they even trade in the human realm. Camil-kun had come to Japan during the Meiji era. Kanade-kun was born again before the Sengoku period.
Koyomi: "You can tell the difference between them and humans just from looking at them, but… UMA are really special beings."
They seem the same as humans, but are totally different from humans. There are many things they didn't understand just from theory class...
Similarly, there must be a lot of things I'm still ignorant about even after reading this document.
Koyomi: "I want to try to get to know everyone better but, how can I do that...?"
......
Koyomi: "Oh! I know just the way!"
The next day after school...
The school bell echoed, and I quickly called out to the students as they started getting ready to leave.
Koyomi: "Oh, please wait, everyone! I have something I'd like you all to hear!"
Kanade: "Hm? What is it, Madam?"
Koyomi: "Well... In order for me to better get to know everyone, I was thinking of doing home visits."
Sousuke: "Home...visits? What's that? I've never heard of some event like 'home visit' here at Yomi school."
Koyomi: "Home visits are where I, your teacher, visit everyone's home and talk with your family and such..."
Akito: "Eh? Like a marriage discussion? I'm happy you're being assertive but...I still wanted to enjoy my free time."
Koyomi: "I-It's not that at all! It's not like that..."
Touma: "Then... Are you here to challenge the top of my house and test your skills?"
Koyomi: "Just where did you get that idea?!"
Kanade: "Yes, first we must hear Madam out."
The noise and commotion died down after Kanade-kun spoke. I just continued.
Koyomi: "I've reported to the school about visiting everyone's home..."
Koyomi: "If any of your parents have questions or concerns, please have them ask."
Koyomi: "This way, your teacher will be able to learn more about you all, right?"
Touma:  "Uuuurgh... I don't really care either way."
Sousuke: "I mean, it sounds like a huge pain~"
Camil: "I see, I see. So you're there to see what's cookin'?"***
Akito: "Huh...? I think it's fine. If Sensei has interest in me, then I'll have to do my best to give her a warm welcome."
Kanade: "Hm... Madam visiting my home... Alright! I'll be sure to prepare a delicious batch of tea."
There was a noisy uproar about it all but, it seems they're all fine with the idea.
Koyomi: "Then it's decided."
Koyomi: "Starting with next week, I'll be visiting everyone's homes, so please be sure to inform your families."

Heavy Bakery - Chapter 9
MasterList / Kanami’s Profile /Previous Chapter
Chapter 9 - The Cook Always Eats Last
arly in the morning, Kazuo woke up to organize the household’s breakfast when he heard the sound of someone slicing food on the board very fast.
“Ah, Yasuo, I didn't know you had woken up so early”, when he turns to look from the door, he finds, instead of his son, a tall woman with light brown hair in a bun, with a concentrated expression. He blinks, trying to understand, until he remembers.
“Ah… Kanami-san. Already up so early?”
“Oh..”, she stops what she was doing and then smiles  “Ah, Mister Kazuo. Good Morning. You told me yesterday that I could use the kitchen, and I'm usually at the bakery by now…”
“Oh, it's true” he approaches, “do you need help?”
“Oh, not in general, thank you”, she smiles, “but I need you to help me locate things, you can do that sitting at the table, if you prefer.”
“Well, alright then”, the little old man sits down at the table, “So… Oomori Kanami, huh?”
“Yes sir.”
‘You told me the details yesterday, but some things stuck in my head: so you mean he went after you to order another cake?”
“Yeah, he came asking urgently, saying they wouldn't let him eat. He looked pretty annoyed. In fact, he was almost like a five-foot-five kid with his hands in his pockets. All he needed to do was pout like that” she puffs out her cheeks, glaring at a spot on the wall.
Kazuo chuckled.
“Yeah, he's not one to make that face, but the rest described it the same.”
“Yes, and then I said that if he wanted another, he'd have to buy it. And he accepted without even arguing. I honestly asked for a much lower price than I should have…”
“Oh, was it? How much is the difference?”
“Huh? No, no, sir, you don't have to. I made that first cake out of gratitude, so I didn't really calculate any prices. I just gave the standard price I usually do, so no loss.”
“Well, if you say so…” he nods, “well, me and the boys are partly to blame for that…”
“Oh, so it was you?”, she didn't seem upset, not at all “what did you think? Was it good?”
“It was great, I didn't eat much, but you have talent. Kaede-san loves your cookies too.”, he laughs, “Hhehe, of course this sharing was not given willingly.”
“He said he was upset that he had to share… that sounded a little selfish, in my opinion…”
“Well, I can say that there was almost a fight between him and the boys”, Kazuo sighs.
Kanami looks surprised.
“They fought over the cake?! Sorry, I didn't mean to cause confusion…”
“Oh, no, it's ok, it's not your fault, and no, no one came to blows, Ohma who got ahead and wanted to take everything at once. Besides, you sent it to the office as a way of saying thank you to all of us, didn't you? So Ohma really was the wrong one there.”
“True”, she nods, before going back to frying the eggs she was preparing. “If he's aggressive like that, I'll remember, if there's a next time, to make two and put a card saying one is just for him, and one for the rest of the group.”
“That's the thing, he's not like that, normally, he usually shares. I think it's because, because he did all the work, he thought you gave it to him specifically. He's a very simple-minded guy.”, he smiled. Kanami nodded in agreement.
“Have you known Ohma for a long time?”
“About four years, almost five.”, he tells a brief abbreviated story of how he met, excluding the details of the Underground part, the part how they had rehearsed before “we've been business partners and friends ever since.”
“Okay… I understand. What about the Raian Kure part?”
Kazuo spits the coffee through his mouth, coughing to recover from his choking.
“W-What do you mean the Kure?” he smiles very awkwardly, “W-what do you know about them?”
“Raian Kure… a tall, blond boy, in the same category as Ohma, with silver eyes with dark sclera, very sinister…”
“Ahhh, yes… yeah… he's one of our associates…”, Kazuo was almost in a cold sweat, smiling awkwardly.
“Do you also hire assassins in sports wrestling leagues?”
Kazuo had to take his jaw off the table. Shit, she was too smart. Just when she didn't want her to get involved...
“Ah… he… he can't kill in the ring… he's there more for the sport” Kazuo puts his fingers together, looking to the side, she could see the cold sweat on his face.
“But he doesn't obey, does he…?”
Kazuo gives up trying to lie, he was never a good liar, so he blurted out with a defeated tone, “no... luckily the fighters are all monsters too, so they manage to hold him back.”
“Ah… well, the “backstage” is actually much bloodier than I imagined… it's no wonder you guys seem to radiate such a sinister aura…”
“Huh? Aura?”, he adjusts his glasses, “so you are sensitive?”
“Ahnnnn… you can say so… but only for people who seem to be suspicious, or dangerous, in some way… it’s not any supernatural ability, it’s just a self-preservation instinct… which I think is kind of broken these days, but I intend to improve.”
"Interesting. Too bad they don't have a women's league where I work, if not, who knows what gems we might find?”
Kanami had to laugh, “Ah I'm just an amateur, I don't fight to be the strongest…”
“What a pity”, they hear footsteps, and Ryuki goes through the door, “because you could be strong.”
“Ah Ryuki, good morning. Yasuo!”
“Good morning Mr.Kazuo.”Ryuki sits at the table, without ceremony.
“Good morning Dad. Hi, Miss Kanami, did you sleep well?”
“Yes, thank you.”, she nods, “I had some problems sleeping, but it was more my circumstances…”
“We understand. It's not easy for anyone.” he smiles, understanding.
“I hope this week with us helps you get over what you've been through”, Kazuo completes, smiling in the same way.
“I think that Miss Kanami can, yes, get stronger, and overcome this problem easily.” - Ryuki continues.
“Oh, You think?”, Kanami smiles sheepshly.
“Well, you're weak for now,” he says, without hesitation, cleaning his glasses. Without them, he looked even more like his “cousin”, “But I've seen weak people get stronger in a short time. If you train with the same dedication you make food, you'll knock anyone down.”
She blushed, looking at the young man. He didn't seem to have any noteworthy expression in what he said, and the way he said everything so abruptly...
“Well… thanks for your consideration, Ryuki-san.”, she smiles, “I'm flattered.”
He smiled a little, Kanami could even see a cute aura radiating from him. "My God, he's just like a child, how cute!" She turns to work, smiling.
“Ryuki, where is Koga?” Kazuo asked.
“He has already woken up, but now is getting organized… strange… he is seeming to take a while for some reason…”
“Relax, folks I'm here”, Koga entered the kitchen, “I just slept a little badly.”
“Jeez, did you have some trouble with your bed?”, Kazuo smiles.
“I think so” he sits down at the table, a little frowning, “weird dreams, like, I was in the ring, then a fuckin hot gods-”
“Oh my, this smells good” Ryuki comments, “ Miss Kanami, what are you doing there?”
Koga widens his eyes and turns around, realizing that the girl was stirring the pot. She turns and smiles at them both.
“Oh, just the basics. Tamagoyaki eggs stuffed with kani, miso soup with vegetables and the rice I seasoned with some nor laying aroundi…”
“Oh fuck… I almost said obscenities in front of a lady”, Koga straightens up, holding back the shame.
“By the way”, she brings the trays to the table, “it's served!”
The boys smile with things done.
“Damn Kanami-san… that looks like a restaurant thing.” Yasuo blinks.
“As expected of a professional cook.” Kazuo smiles.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Go for it!”, she washes her hands, “I wash the dishes when you're done.”
“I'll do that” Ryuki comes forward, taking his portion of rice, “you already did the cooking favor, your work is done.”
“Oh thanks.” she delivers the last tray to the table and mentions leaving the room.
‘Aren't you going to sit down to eat, Kanami-san?” Yasuo raises an eyebrow, noticing her leaving.
“Oh no”, she smiles, “you know that phrase “ the cook always eats last”? It's actually a myth, we eat our share while cooking, that's the cleverness of the thing.” She winks an eye “I'll get organized, then I can go out with Koga.”
Koga was silent, staring at the food. “Damn, she is hot, I bet she can lift me in the shoulders and on top of that she's a professional cook… if she gives me a big punch there at the gym I’ll give up, this girl is way beyond my league”.
“Are you ok, Koga? You’re pale…” Ryuki notes, returning to the table, “Oh, take your bowl. You need to eat”
“Oh, thank you.”
“The guy looks like a withered baloon”, Yasuo laughs, “Bro what happened to you?”
“Nothing. I'm just thinking...”
“I've seen this face before”, Ryuki comments, “he's impressed with the girl.”
“Shut up, you fucker!” Koga explodes, turning red from embarrassment. Kazuo and Yasuo hold in laughter.
“Oh, so it’s true?”
Koga sits, still too red to his liking.
Ryuki continues “But uh, she's Ohma's friend, you know.”
“And what does one have to do with the other?”
“You really don't remember the look on his face when we wanted to eat the cake? She is the one who made it.”
Koga seemed to realize what was going on. And didn’t quite believe.
“Really? He only cares about the food…”
“To the point of saving who made it?”
“Boys, let's not jump to conclusions”, Kazuo intervenes, “She was attacked by gangsters affiliated with the Worms. She is a civilian who was dragged into this misfortune, and Ohma felt responsible after she was kind to him. That's history as it is, and you know more or less how Ohma thinks. There's nothing absurd there.”
“There's just one thing I found absurd about all this”, Yazuo comments.
Everybody looked curiously at Kazuo's youngest son.
“Yea? And what is it?” - Koga asks, not holding back.
“This food is absurdly good, holy shit…”
There was general agreement after a good laugh. Then they stopped talking, finally focusing on breakfast.

If Sara ever did get into Death Battle, her opponent would probably be Hajime over any other DR character. Why pick Kaede as her opponent?
[WARNING: This contains game spoilers for Your Turn To Die, but you probably shouldn't read the DB matchup series unless you're ready to be spoiled, so...]
//Technically I didn't pick her. She won from majority vote (oh, hehe...)
//If you're asking why we put her in the poll among Kaede's lineup of opponents, the main connections are that the two are female protagonists of death games who are both high school students and possess a high amount of charisma that draws people to them almost immediately upon meeting them; and at some point in the story of V3 and YTTD, this is brought into question. Namely Kaede's heavy-handed and forceful methods of trying to keep the group together, like convincing everyone to keep running the death road in spite of their exhaustion, leads the group to become divided as a result; and though many come to trust Sara, people start to find out that her and her family are somehow more heavily involved in the background of the Death Game overtime, and aside from that, they begin to look at the reality that putting all your eggs in the one basket that is an ordinary high-school girl is not particularly a good idea.
//Also, in spite of their genuine kindness and charismatic personalities, both of them have done rather derisive things in order to achieve their own ends, like how Kaede has attempted murder and Sara has attempted manipulation.
//Lastly, in terms of a narrative perspective, Kaede's death at the end of V3's first chapter is actually pretty similar to Joe Tazuna's death at the end of the YTTD's first chapter. Kaede is shown as the protagonist innately, but at the end of the first chapter of V3, she's executed and the role is passed onto Shuichi. Joe, while NOT the protagonist, was also set up to be a very important character, and throughout the game's lore is portrayed as such, yet he also dies from an execution at the beginning which leaves Sara traumatized and defines her character for the rest of the game. It's the same plot told from two different perspectives.
//In regards to the connections with Hajime though, is IS true that there are a LOT more.
//Like Kaede and Sara, Hajime is ALSO a protagonist from a visual novel death game series, and despite being treated like typical high school students, Hajime and Sara's true selves are somehow connected to the entire game they are forced into.
//They both had an acquaintance prior to the game who assisted them in resolving issues in their day-to-day lives at school. As a result, they developed a respect for the person and an implied crush on them, and they then turned into their main partner in the death game. That is Joe for Sara and Chiaki for Hajime. Eventually, though, after realizing they had unintentionally fallen victim to a trap set up to have them executed, they become the ones to "kill them," (Sara prolongs Joe's suffering in his death trap after being tricked by Sue Miley and puts the blame on herself, while Izuru Kamukura oversees Chiaki's execution in DR3) keeping the particular object that reminds them of them (their hairpins). Both of their companions are also eventually reborn as artificial intelligence.
//Additionally, a boy who both characters first befriended turned out not to be who they first appeared to be, and that boy ended up becoming their main rival; obviously being Nagito Komaeda and Shin Tsumiki/Sou Hiyori.
//So generally, there are a lot more connections between Sara and Hajime, and if Sara DID have a Death Battle opponent, it would probably be Hajime over Kaede. The reason why Sara was given to Kaede and not Hajime is because this series SPECIFICALLY deals with the characters in the main Danganronpa/Survivor canon, which means we'd mainly be using Hajime as he is shown in DR3 and Survivor.
//You know...where he is a VERITABLE GOD AMONG MEN!
//I totally get this matchup in the context of DR2 where he doesn't have his powers, and I would very much prefer Sara as an opponent for him over Apollo Justice, but even then, it's still basically a stomp in his favor. Even in the game world, Hajime was able to reawaken his powers and seize control of the virtual reality he is trapped in.
//So the simple reason why we didn't go for that is because it leads to the complete and utter decimation of Sara, and subsequently, a boring ass fight and analysis. Kaede has more connections than any other DR protagonist to Sara besides Hajime, and the fight stands to be a lot more fairer.
//Effectively we just wanted to avoid the Hydrogen Bomb Vs Coughing Baby fight.

Alley Cat and Street Rat - Chapter 1
Kokichi/Kaede, Kokichi & Dice, Kokichi & Angie, Kaede & Shuichi [Established relationship, Aged Up Characters, Miraculous AU, Thieves, Superhero AU]
Kokichi's life has been on a steady track for years, he goes stealing with Dice, he's dating Kaede, and he's been pretty good at keeping those two lives separate. When he ends up stealing some magical jewelry that grants him special powers, his life becomes a lot more interesting and his two worlds become a little harder to keep apart.
Shuichi's calm life seems to avalanche over night. It starts with a case coming across his desk about a group of thieves, escalates when he receives a strange present from his parents that give him strange abilities, and culminates when a supervillain calling himself Yokai starts terrorizing the city. As these separate problems combine into one when he takes up the mantle of a hero and learns the thieves he's chasing have the same abilities as the villain he's fighting.
Prologue
OoOoOo
"When are you going to introduce me to Dice?"
Kokichi raised his book so that he could look across the apartment to see Kaede was standing in the kitchen. He was hanging upside down off the edge of the couch, feet brushing against the wall where they were propped up on the back of the couch and his hair brushing the floor. Kaede still had her back to him as she focused on burning breakfast.
Well, Kokichi assumed that she would burn it because she was a terrible cook. She could rarely follow a recipe without trying to add something or getting distracted so that it ended up burned. The fact that she was keeping her eyes on the food would have been a good sign, but the fact that she had started this conversation meant that her mind wasn't really on it. He didn't mind though. They had poptarts in the cabinets that he could snag.
"I have introduced you to Dice," he replied. It was pretty much impossible for him to spend any significant time with someone without them colliding with Dice in some way. Dice were the most important thing in his life and while Kaede was steadily climbing higher on that list, she hadn't and likely wouldn't surpass Dice.
Kaede turned to glare at him over her shoulder. "Only, like, three members," she said. Technically five, but he wasn't sure she had realized that he had long recruited some of their former classmates. Though if he really thought of it, all of Dice had met her by now, she just didn't know it. There was no way Dice would ever let their leader date, let alone live with someone that they hadn't met and vetted to some extent. She was at a bit of a disadvantage when it came to spotting Dice members though. There were a lot of people that came up to her all the time, either because she was a Hope's Peak alumni or because she was a famous pianist, and it was hard to keep up when you met that many people a day. Or so he heard. Kokichi was pretty good at remembering people.
"So, what about it?" he asked.
"Three people isn't all of Dice," she complained. "I want to meet everyone."
Kokichi sighed and closed his book, tossing it up on the couch beside him. "What for?"
"What do you mean, what for?" she asked, voice becoming louder with incredulousness. "Because they're important to you. They're practically your family, right?"
"They are my family," he corrected.
"So why wouldn't I want to meet your family?" She asked, fully turning toward him and putting her hands on his hips. Definitely going to burn those eggs, or whatever it is.
Kokichi sighed loudly. "Sounds like a lot of work, to me."
"Kokichi," she said in a scolding tone. She walked away from the stove, big mistake, and kneeled down so that she could look him in his eyes. A silly thing to do when he was upside down. His expression went from scolding to soft in moments. "I want to be closer to you. You want that too, right?"
Kokichi met her eyes and said, "Your food is burning."
The calm expression was immediately replaced with panic as she got to her feet. "No, the omelet!" She ran over to the stove and began fussing around with the pan, trying to save the undoubtedly ruined meal.
Kokichi slid off the couch and onto the floor before rolling over and getting to his feet. "Poptarts are on the shelf," he told her helpfully.
Kaede gave him an exasperated look over her shoulder. "I don't want junk food for breakfast."
"And I don't want burned food," he said, walking to the cabinet and pulling out the box. "Guess our tastes are just too different."
"Don't eat that, she told him. "I'm going to make us a nice breakfast for once."
Kokichi gave her a flat look. "A nice breakfast of what? Cereal?"
Kaede frowned, looking back down at the mess in her pan. "Maybe it doesn't taste that bad?" she asked hopefully.
Kokichi looked her in the eyes as he ripped open his poptarts and took a bite of one. "Then you eat it."
Kaede made a sound of distress as she hung her head. Kokichi pat her shoulder as he walked by.
"Better luck next time, sweet cheeks."
"Don't call me sweet cheeks," she grumbled half-heartedly. She knew by now that objections basically guaranteed that he would use the nickname again, but it was a hard habit to break.
Kokichi watched from the couch as she scrapped the food from the pan, dropped it in the sink, and slowly trudged over to sit beside him. He held out his poptart for her to take a bite and Kaede sighed before doing so.
"See, it's not so bad," he said.
Kaede groaned and let her head fall onto his shoulder. He continued letting her take bites of his poptart
OoOoOo
It was mid-afternoon when Kokichi met up with Dice. They had a lot of meeting places within the city, the main one being in an area that had been dubbed Hideout Park. It was a completely normal park but after meeting there a few times, Joy had made a joke about it being their hideout and the name had stuck. It wasn't the largest park, but it was in a fairly busy area making their constant gathering seem very inconspicuous.
There was a path that ran through the park and a picnic table that sat to one side, known as the throne after he routinely used it as a chair instead of a table. Today was no different and Kokichi hopped up on the table as soon as he arrived. "Bow to your king!"
Joy was kneeling on the ground in a circle of dogs they were meant to be walking, trying to pet all seven of them with her two hands. She looked up at him, rolled her eyes, and continued trying to pet the herd of excited canines. Princess was sitting on the grass with one of the smaller dogs in her lap and she waved at him. Bishop and Ace both smiled at him, the latter trying to reach over Joy to hook leashes on dog collars.
"Hey boss," Bishop greeted.
"You're late," Ace told him.
"A king is never late," he declared. He looked around briefly to see if he could spot any of his other minions, frowning when he didn't. "Where's my good for nothing second?" he asked.
"Angie had a commission," Joy answered. "She took Raeve with her and Jack thought that he should supervise."
Kokichi sighed. "Typical." Angie, otherwise known as Brush once he had taken her under his wing, was more chaotic than she was reliable most of the time. Kokichi didn't need a reliable stick in the mud though, that's not what made her his second in command. No, he needed someone that could ride the same wave of chaos that he did, someone that was devious and reckless but not stupid. Lantern thought that he should be second in command because he was reasonable and usually tried to reign Angie in for that reason. The fact that he usually failed emphasized his lack of suitability to the role.
"Did you need her for something?" Ace questioned. His bleached blonde hair stood up at a 90 degree angle, but rather than make him stand out, he looked rather normal among them. A lot of people bleached their hair and used too much gel. Bishop was big and round with a bald head, Princess was smaller than even Kokichi with hair so long it nearly trailed the ground, and Joy had bright pink hair with shaved sides. Comparing them, Ace seemed like your typical delinquent.
"Kaede wants to meet you all," Kokichi said instead of addressing Ace's question.
Joy's face lit up. "We get to meet the mistress?"
"Don't call her the mistress," he said. "That makes me sound like some sleazeball."
"What does she want with us?" Ace questioned.
"The usual," Kokichi answered with a shrug, looking at his nails. "Torture, interrogation, intimidation."
Ace's eyes widened. "Wait, really?"
Joy snickered. "No way. He's kidding."
Ace looked at Joy. "But are you sure? I mean, if she's dating the boss then..."
"If she was like Kichi then she would have already met us by now," Princess said. She looked up at Kokichi. "Right?"
Kokichi smiled widely at her. "Some minions are brighter than others."
"Hey!" Ace yelled.
Kokichi laughed as he hopped off the table. "Enough messing around. We've got a job to do!"
They all nodded, getting to their feet and handing out the dogs leashes until they all had the dogs that they could handle. Dice Dog Sitting services had been a successful endeavor for them since before he graduated from Hope's Peak and it was enough for them to scrape by. Of course, their other endeavors went a long way as well.
"Onward!" he exclaimed.
"Onward!" they echoed him.
OoOoOo
The minute Kaede reached the table where Shuichi was waiting for her she let out a loud groan. She let her body fall into the seat and dropped her head onto the table, not caring at all if she got a few stares from the other patrons at the cafe. She and Shuichi always chose to sit outside where the noise was more acceptable and years of dating Kokichi had made her less uptight about causing small scenes in public. The same couldn't be said of Shuichi though, who looked around nervously before he even addressed her.
"Um, is something wrong?" he asked.
"Today was a disaster," she told him. "Again!"
Shuichi's eyes still glanced around but he kept the majority of his attention on her. He really did worry too much about what others thought of him, she wasn't being that loud. "What happened?"
"I ruined breakfast."
"Well, that's not new," he said. When she lifted her head to look at him, Shuichi tried to swiftly backtrack. "I-I mean, um, did Kokichi complain or..."
Kaede sighed again, deciding not to comment on his less than delicate reponse. "No, but he never complains. And he still doesn't want me to meet Dice either!"
"Did he say that?" Shuichi asked and Kaede could tell by the way his eyes sharpened and his lips thinned that he would be offended on her behalf if he did. The thought actually made her smile, just a little.
"Not in so many words," she told him. "But he did change the subject." The fact that the subject changed to her burning food was irrelevant. She folded her arms under her and sulked just a little. It wasn't fair that he had a secret organization and wouldn't tell her anything about it.
Shuichi lifted his hand to his lips as he thought, a habit that he still hadn't broken all these years later. "Maybe he has a good reason that he doesn't want you to meet them."
Kaede frowned. "What reason could he have? These people are his family and I live with him now!"
Shuichi held up his hand, leaning away from her glare. "It was just a suggestion! I don't want to-"
Kaede leaned closer to him. "But you're a  detective, right? So detect something!"
Shuichi leaned further away from her. "Um, it doesn't really work like that."
Kaede sighed as she put her head back on the table. "Sorry, I'm just driving myself in circles here. Why doesn't he want me to meet them? Does he think they won't like me?"
"Well..." Whatever Shuichi was in the middle of saying was cut off by a scream. The two of them, as well as several other people in the cafe, stood up to look around for the sound. Several people were beginning to run past, though they still wouldn't see what was causing the commotion.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"It's a Yokai attack!" someone hastily spat out.
"What?" Kaede pushed herself away from the table as she got to her feet, trying to look toward what was happening.
Shuichi put a hand on her shoulder. "Kaede. We should go."
Kaede noded. "Right."
While the people around them were standing up and trying to lean over the cafe's rail to see what was happening, she and Shuichi went the other way toward the bathrooms.
Yokai, as he called himself, had been making random attacks on the city for a while now. No one was sure where he had come from, or what he wanted, but every time he made his move he was there and gone before anyone had the chance to do anything about it.
That was, until now. Kaede looked down at the small winged brooch that was clipped to her shirt. "Do you think we should?" he asked softly. She looked up at Shuichi, seeing the same indecision on his face before he nodded.
"If we can do something, then... we should try," he said.
Kaede smiled at him. "You're right. See you on the other side." They went separate ways, him into the male restrooms and her into the women's. She briefly looked around to make sure the place was empty before ducking into one of the stalls. She took a few deep breaths to steady herself. "Alright, we can do this. Nooroo?"
Her kwami, a small purple plushie-like creature with large eyes and butterfly wings, floated out in front of her with a smile. "You'll be great, Master. I believe in you."
Kaede smiled back at it. "Alright, Nooroo. Wings rise!" There was a flash of light around her and she could feel the transformation as it spread over her. Once it was done, she opened the door and looked over herself briefly. She'd only transformed a handful of times before and she hadn't really gotten the chance to see how she looked any of those times. Red butterfly wings drooped behind her and there were wings on the side of her cap. She had a red mask over her eyes, with matching gloves and shoes, but her shoes and tights were black. The cane in her hand looked a bit more like a wand, a red butterfly emblem below the pommel.
Kaede only paused long enough to give herself a quick once over before she was pushing herself out the bathroom's window, and rushing toward where she heard the commotion.
Shuichi was only a few steps behind her. He looked a lot less elaborate than she did, dressed all black with a button up shirt tucked into slacks, a black cap pulled low on his head, and black fingerless gloves. The only spot of color was the blue of his mask, his hair that looked wilder and fluffier than normal, and the dog ears peeking out from the sides of his cap.
Kaede gave him an encouraging smile. Even though he'd done this a little more often than she had, he was still far from being an expert. "We can do this," she told him.
Shuichi pulled on his hat, much like he used to in highschool. "I hope you're right."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OoOoOo
They heard the screaming before they got to the scene. There was a web of string covering the area, thin in some areas but thick and black in others. At least, Shuichi thought that it was string, before he was able to spot Yokai standing in the center of it all. The man was dressed in a loose, flowing white top and golden hakama trousers, a giant paintbrush strapped to his back. He had skin that was pure white like it was made of marble, golden pupil-less eyes, and long trails of black hair which were connected to the trails of string all around them. All around the area, he could see people being accosted by this sentient hair, grabbing hold of limbs or wrapping around necks.
"Oh no," Kaede said as soon as she saw what he did. "We have to save them."
"I'll rescue as many as I can," he told her. "You need to distract him."
"Right." Kaede set her sights on Yokai and jumped into the hair, the red wings on her back coming to life to help carry up to the top of the building where Yokai waited.
Shuichi focused his attention on the first person he saw whose neck was being gripped by the hair. He pulled out his weapon, a small blue ball, and tossed it at them. It hit them and bounced back into his hand. "Fetch!" he called out and the person was teleported from where they were into Shuichi's waiting arms. The sudden weight brought Shuichi to his knees as he tried to hold up the person as they coughed and struggled to catch their breath, but he sighed in relief that the power worked like it was supposed to. He couldn't spare too much time though. He ran through the area, tossing his ball out at anyone that was in a bad spot and calling them safely to his side.
Once he'd rescued everyone that was in immediate danger, he turned his attention to Yokai and Kaede. Yokai was brandishing his giant paintbrush as a weapon and Kaede was using her cane to deflect the blows. She looked far from confident though, slowly backing up from Yokai's steady advances as he rained down blow after blow.
"Why are you doing this?" Kaede asked. "Why are you hurting people?"
Yokai ducked beneath her guard and jammed  the end of his paintbrush into her stomach, making her double over. "I don't think that's any of your concern."
Kaede looked up at him, face contorted in pain. She still managed to fling her cane out toward his leg, causing him to hiss in pain. "It is my concern! I refuse to let you do whatever you want!"
Shuichi ran to get closer to her, jumping from cars to streetlights to make his way up to her side. He tossed his ball at her once he was close enough, knowing the projectile would travel faster than he would.
"Unfortunately for you, I wasn't asking for permission," Yokai said.
The ball returned to Shuichi's hand just as he noticed someone else coming toward them. No, coming toward her.
Shuichi didn't think, he just yelled. "Fetch!"
Kaede disappeared just as someone landed in her place, creating a crater in the top of the building. Kaede blinked several times in confusion as she appeared at Shuichi's side. "Wh-what?"
Shuichi turned his gaze back to the roof. While Yokai had appeared several times now, with ever changing abilities at his disposal, this was the first time that he'd ever had someone at his side. The girl was dressed in white, with brown hair that looped at the top to look like ears, a cat paw print on her top, and black and red paint surrounding her red eyes like a mask. She looked dangerous, the way she zeroed in on them and immediately took up a fighting stance, claws on one of her hands.
"Who are you?" Kaede questioned.
"Mauler," she answered curtly. "Don't get in our way."
"We're not going to let you hurt people!" Kaede responded.
"Then you'll get hurt," the girl answered. She kicked a chunk of concrete that had been dislodged by her attack, sending it straight at them. Shuichi and Kaede separated as they dodged. Shuichi landed on the top of a nearby car, while Kaede took to the air. The onslaught didn't stop, as Mauler punched the ground once again and began kicking more debris their way. Shuichi quickly dropped down behind the car to take cover while Kaede dodged in the air.
Unfortunately, they had both forgotten about the web of hair loosely covering the area around them. Shuichi didn't realize that he was trapped until the strands tightened around his limb, binding his arms to his torso and causing him to cry out. "Ack!"
"Cerber! Ahh!" Her cry was cut off as the hair wrapped around her leg and dragged her from the air, slamming her into the ground below.
"I feared that this would be a difficult task," Yokai said, standing at the edge of the building and looking down at them. "But it seems I overestimated you."
Kaede glared, trying to kick her leg free, but more tendrils were wrapping around her and closing around her other leg too. Her face was absolutely panicked and for a moment, Shuichi thought they were done for, that this would be their first and last attempt to use these powers, their Miraculous, for anything good. But then she cupped her hands together, a small light gathering in her palms, before she flung her arms out, releasing a small white butterfly. Kaede kept her gaze on Shuichi as the butterfly traveled to him, landing on his hair.
"Shuichi? Can you hear me?" Kaede questioned, her voice floating through his mind. He could see the white outline of butterfly wings around his face and her mouth wasn't moving, so this must have been part of her ability.
"I can hear you," he thought back to her. "How are you doing this?"
"Part of my abilities are to empower others," Kaede said. "I can give you the strength to save us. What do you need, Shuichi? Show it to me."
Shuichi tried to think, what could he do to get them out of here? The problem was that Yokai could trap them too easily, they needed a way to be able to escape his web and then they could take care of the rest. He imagined the ability he would need.
"Alright. I can do it," Kaede responded to him. "Just trust me."
"I do," he answered confidently.
Kaede smiled at him and then she called out, "Metamorphosis!"
Shuichi could feel her power rushing over him and closed his eyes against the bright light it produced. He could feel his abilities becoming stronger and he instantly understood how to use them. He tossed out his ball and yelled, "Chase!" As soon as his weapon hit the ground, he was teleported out of the tangle of hair and to the location his weapon had landed. "We did?"
"Good job, Cerberus!" Kaede said. "A little help here?"
Shuichi was knocked over before he could respond. He looked behind him quickly, pailing as he saw Mauler standing over him. "Forget about me?" she asked. She held up the hand adorned with claws. "Clout," she said quietly, causing her claws to glow with energy.
Shuichi quickly scrambled backwards before tossing his weapon. "Chase!" he yelled in panic. Her claws were inches from his face when he vanished and a crater was left on the ground where her fist had landed.
"You can't dodge forever," she told him.
No, he probably couldn't, Shuichi was very determined to try. He moved to put more distance between them, trying to avoid the web of hair as it lunged at him. When he was finally close enough to Kaede he tossed his ball out to free her. She slumped against him, giving him a weak smile. "Thanks."
"Don't thank me yet," he said. "I have no idea how to defeat them."
"I think I do," Kaede said. "We need to get that brush from Yokai. That has to be how he's using his power, right?"
"Maybe," Shuichi answered hesitantly. He couldn't think of anything else though and it would be easier to steal that than trying to take Mauler's claws.
"Ah, Look out!" Kaede yelled, pushing them both to the ground just in time to avoid being barreled into by Mauler. The woman was fast, immediately getting back to her feet and raising her claws.
"Clout!"
Kaede grabbed him around the waist and jumped into the air, out of Mauler's reach, her wings fluttering quickly as she struggled to keep them both in the air.
"Chase!" He yelled, teleporting them to one of the nearby buildings.
Kaede smiled at him, but it looked tired. "I think this power is taking a lot out of me. I'm starting to get a headache."
"Let's try and finish this quickly then," he said.
"Yeah." Kaede took a deep breath, putting on a determined expression. They both ran toward Yokai, splitting up once more and Mauler leapt between them. "Stay out of our way!" Kaede yelled, hitting the girl with her cane. The hit knocked Mauler back a few steps, but she was running at them again quickly. "Go on, Shu- er, Cerberus."
"Right." Shuichi turned to run toward Yokai, teleporting to get to the man more expediently.
"That's a rather interesting ability your friend has," Yokai said, tilting his head to observe him. "Cerberus, was it? The two of you never properly introduced yourself."
"Cerberus and Red Wings," Shuichi said. "Not that you'll need to remember it for long, since you'll be going to jail soon."
Yokai laughed, low and sinister. "I doubt that."
It was only the tilt of his head that alerted Shuichi to something coming toward him and he moved before he even saw what it was. A tendril of hair swept the area where he had just been standing and even after landing again, he wasn't safe. More and more tendrils swiped at him, trying to capture him. Shuichi was a bit out of breath trying to dodge them all while also trying to get into a position to throw his weapon. They caught up with him at the same time his weapon bounced off Yokai's brush, the strands tightening around his feet and causing him to fall.
"Fetch," he grunted, his hands tightening around the brush as soon as it materialized in front of him.
Yokai began walking toward him slowly as the hair tightened around his legs. "I wasn't going to bother with trying to take your Miraculous," Yokai began. "But on second thought, both of your abilities would be quite useful."
Shuichi pulled the paintbrush closer, looking around as he tried to decide what to do.
"Let me guess... you look rather like a wolf and the name would lend itself an air of viciousness," Yokai said calmly. "But no, that doesn't seem right with your attacks. The dog Miraculous? Am I right?"
"Chase!" Shuichi yelled, throwing his ball, but Yokai's hand whipped out to catch it.
"No, not this time," he said.
Shuichi took the moment of distraction to toss the paintbrush over the edge of the building. "Red Wings!"
Kaede leapt into the air, looking a bit worse due to the fight she'd been having with Mauler. Her hat had been knocked off and her wings looked a bit crooked, but they held her well enough to fly and she scooped the paintbrush into her arms. "Ah ha! Yes!" She grinned victoriously. "Give it up, Yokai!"
Yokai watched them both calmly as Mauler jumped to his side. "I could take her," Mauler said.
"No," Yokai said. "Let them have this victory. I learned some very interesting things this time. That's more than enough."
Mauler growled before nodding. "Fine." She backed up to the edge of the building before jumping off, shortly followed by Yokai. Kaede flew after them, looking around a few times before she turned to Shuichi. "I don't see them."
All at once, the web draped over everything disappeared, along with the brush in Kaede's arms. Shuichi blinked at his sudden freedom.
"What happened?" she questioned, landing beside him and helping him to his feet.
"They must have de-transformed," Shuichi said. "I guess we were right and he couldn't control the ability anymore."
Kaede sighed. "That was way harder than I thought it would be."
"Yeah, I never would have guessed that being a superhero was that exhausting," he agreed.
"Ugh! We didn't even get to have lunch," she groaned.
Shuichi chuckled. "I think we can give ourselves another hour, don't you?"

Same anon as before, but could you also do Danganronpa for your ask game?
Fandom Ask Game
Oh Danganronpa... This is a mix of all the games (the anime is mentioned, but I don't really use any of the characters in this)
Also the favorite characters are hard so I chose one from each game (I didn't do favorite from Despair Girls just because there's not as many characters to choose from, but Toko is my favorite in those games specifically)
my favorite female character -
Chihiro Sakura, She's super cool and is doing her best to keep everyone safe despite things. I definitely cheered when I saw her little easter egg in the 2nd game.
Chiaki, I mean Ultimate Gamer already drew me in, but once I learned about her and as the game kept going I just wanted to adopt her. She's amazing and needs a nice, long nap.
God Kaede's introduction was so interesting and then the switch up?? (I mean V3 had a lot of switch up's, but you know). I love her so much especially getting to do the dumb board game thing after the game and seeing her interactions with others.
my favorite male character -
🥰 Chihiro 🥰he's just doing his best and I love him for it. He's so strong and a child I will protect (and he deserves a hug).
Komaeda. He is just so freaking interesting and I don't defend or condone his actions at all, but he's such an interesting character.
Kaito. I am so surprised by the lack of Kaito content I've seen. Like I love Shuichi and Kokichi too, but where is my boy Kaito at? He just wants to be an astronaut.
my favorite book/season/etc -
I think the 2nd game is my favorite tbh. I love pretty much all the characters (Hiyoko is on thin fucking ice) and it's such an interesting twist (the anime also really made me really love these babes).
my favorite cast member -
This is another game where choosing a favorite voice actor is so difficult because they all do fantastic. I'll have to go with Bryce Papenbrook though because the switch he makes from Makoto to Komaeda is so good.
my favorite ship -
This is so hard because there are so many cute relationships that happen. Probably Chiaki/Hajime. It's just so bittersweet, especially when watching the anime after knowing what happens.
a character I’d die defending -
Nagisa, my poor child. He's gone through so much and then having to deal with Monaca. He's just a baby and I
a character I just can’t sympathize with -
There's quite a few characters tbh. It really is, they have great aesthetics but I just can't stand the characters 😅
But I have to go with Junko. I really don't like her character. Again, her design is fantastic, but god do I want to tear her to pieces (again)
a character I grew to love -
Maki. I usually end up being so over the antisocial, threatening types. But I really enjoyed her character development and the whole relationship she developed with Kaito.
my anti otp -
Junko with anyone. I've seen some stuff with her and Makoto or her and Tsumiki and it's not for me.
