WELCOME TO MORTAL KOMBAT!

Running after my World Warrior (Street Fighter) tournament is none other than the gore-y, surreal, awesome Mortal Kombat tournament! We will be pitting all of the characters that made a playable appearance in Mortal Kombat (sorry Kronika) in a bracket of 64. From Scorpion to Sub-Zero, Kitana to Mileena, Liu Kang to Shang Tsung and more!

This will be single elimination as usual.

Also some things to note:

Guest characters will have their own mini tournament! I don't know when but probably within the later rounds.

I know some characters have two different identities, most prominently the changes of Mortal Kombat 1. Hence I will be listing characters such as Scorpion and Sub-Zero under their real names. So if you like Kuai Liang either as Sub-Zero or Scorpion, vote for his name as it will represent the character in the series as a whole. Same goes to Hanzo (The original Scorpion) and Bi-Han (Sub-Zero and Noob).

I know there is a few more characters in MK than 64, so preliminaries are out now!

Seeding is already done, as I did it based off of playable appearances in the series (including ports and handheld versions). This is tied with the preliminaries.

Talking about my mk au!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a long read im sooo sorry

I know I never talk about my mk au because im to nervous to but I really wanna do smth with the revenants !!

I feel like they had lots of potential that was never used and I wanna do smth that uses it

I think only having a small handful of characters be revenants would work best I always felt like there was to many. I really wanna focus on Rev Lao and Nightwolf the most tho

I also thought that when revenants are created they are created out of hate and lies told by Quan Chi. That in turn drives them down an untrue path so really revenants are just misguided rather than evil cause they're told to be

Especially Lao cause I think a lot of what happens to his character would motivate him as a revenant and add conflict to other characters like Liu Kang and Raiden like blaming Liu for his death and looking down on him seeing him as a lesser and having extreme hate for Raiden for never recognizing his potential and worthiness as a capable powerful warrior because he was to weak. Ofc none of that is true

As for Rev Nightwolf....i think the making of a revenant varies in difficulty depending on how strong a persons soul or spirit is so in Nightwolfs case it was verryyyy hard to finally get him to form as a Rev. But this also makes it easier to reach his humanity and be reasoned with as a revenant. Which is exactly what Fujin does and it saves him from an attempted killing from Rev Nightwolf. The relationship he built with Fujin over time before Nightwolf becomes a revenant has a big part in also getting through to Nightwolf as Fujin is probably the person hes closest with and whom he trusts the most

Ofc I want Quan Chi to have responsibility for the revenants. They act like his gate way to the earthrealm and other realms (Especially Kai but that’s a whole other thing) so they can do what they need in order to release him from his captivity in the netherrealm. Ofc the revenants are under his command but they do have their own motivations through the lies told by Quan Chi so they can fight back against anyone close or personal from attempting to stop them from raising Quan Chi. So they are pretty much being used for Quan Chis gain.

I just watch spicy challenge in youtube and why not i write as mk headcanon. TBH..... i dont really enjoy so much spicy food even i’m asian because its make me end up half an hour in toilet and dont assume all asian love to eat spicy food. I hope yall like it and laughing while reading.

Here’s how I would change the rooster + with some other stuff. (Related to Kahn Coin Au)

MKX

Add Revenant Jade to the rooster but kill her off in the story

Have Skarlet as a npc fighter that get killed off in story.

Have Moroban (New Character and Leader of the Shadow Priest) be an npc fighter with a fighting style similar to Ermac then have killed off in story.

Have Shao Kahn on the rooster but only playable through one of Kotal’s variations. Give him unique voice lines, a new kombat style, his own unique x rays and fatalities as while as his own arcade ending.

Have Onaga as an npc fighter (In Flashback and/or mindscape battle)

Bonus: Have a stage set in Armageddon, on top of the pyramid of Argus. (In story this will take place in a mindscape battle while the stage itself can unlock through DLC)

MK11

Add Ermac to the Rooster

Turn Sonya Blade into a Revenant and give her new kombat skills with her revenant skin.

Keep Jade but remove her Revenant from the story (Since she’s dead)

Age up Ferra and make her an npc fighter

No Past Scorpion

Have present Scorpion be killed off by Noob Saibot

Then have Noob Saibot be redeemed by his brother Kuai Liang. The two brothers return back to the fire garden only to have Raiden attack Bi-han for not believing he has changed. Similar to Scorpion in the original game.

Keep D’Vorah on the rooster but kill her off.

Reptile will get some relevancy in the story although unsure if he’ll make the rooster. If not give his move sets to Sub Zero with reptile skin.

Maybe add Cyborg Sub Zero and past Bi-han into the story.

Remove Kollector from the rooster he serves no purpose. Although keep him in the story but don’t make him playable. He could still serve a purpose by being a npc fighter.

Bring Mileena back through her clone army ending from mkx. She can be release as a DLC similar to Tanya in mkx.

Remove Rain. Save him for Mk12.

Add Bo’Rai Cho on the rooster and give him a chapter

Give Dark Raiden some relevancy in the story instead of killing him off one chapter later.

Make Fire God Liu Kang playable after beating the story.

Give Kai, Kenshi and Kung Jin a cameo scene.

Bring Shang Tsung and Quan Chi from the past into the present. Add Shang Tsung to the main rooster but have only Quan Chi as non fight-able character.

Add Cyrax and Sekktor to main ropster, but to save room on the rooster have a cyborg character on the rooster that shares the cyborg variations. Just bring Triborg into the game.

Bonus: Have a stage set in the heavens. In story there will be (Raiden vs Dark Raiden and Raiden vs Cetrion) Although this stage will only be playable through story.

Also we will be going on the assumption that the chapter system is gone.

AnimeFTW10 Watches and Reacts to Mortal Kombat 1’s Story Mode

The title is self-explanatory. Spoilers under the cut.

Yeah, Madam Bo is dead. Ain't no way an old person, who is also a smoker, can survive that. That test could have gone seriously wrong.

I like how Johnny's first fight foreshadows Nitara. Also, is Katara Vala supposed to look like original timeline Havik?

Bi-Han and Kuai: [silently judging Johnny]

… Liu Kang. You couldn't have just combusted to prove you were telling the truth from the beginning? That would have saved a fight! And Johnny's Hichuli.

This proves that the story is written around the fights, not the other way around. And this chapter system still needs to go.

Bi-Han's face has me thinking that he's pissed that he (and Kuai and Tomas, I guess), who is Lin Kuei, who have been Earthrealm's protectors for centuries, are never chosen as champions, while two farm boys, a Yakuza, and an actor, all who know nothing about anything, are getting a shot. So I can see the frustration building already.

Why do I get the feeling Kung Lao won't see Bi-Han again?*

Also, is that dark-skinned Shaolin supposed to be Kai? I'd like that if that was true.

Why that slo-mo between Johnny and Kenshi?

I think you paved the way for Raiden to win, Liu Kang. I also think that you would have been disappointed if Kung Lao won.

At least Kung Lao can swallow his pride. It also helps that he doesn't have family pressure on him in this timeline.

Sun Do is Outworld's capital now?

I feel like that amulet should be made so that Raiden and Raiden alone can use it. Too much of a risk in the wrong hands otherwise.

Johnny's phone having his name on it is so him. I love details like that.

Mileena, Li Mei is doing her job! Leave her alone!

"Stock villain," indeed. Also, Shao's an Outworld supremacist. Lovely.

That only sounds impressive when Shang Tsung says it.

Okay, I get it, but Sindel, that's being passive-aggressive. I'm beginning to feel sorry for Li Mei.

So Reiko has a reason to follow Shao over Outworld.

Johnny successfully flirted with Kitana? Never thought I'd see the day.

Once again, all of this could have been avoided if anyone knew how to communicate.

At least it wasn't Shang Tsung's fault Kenshi got blinded this time.

Is… is Quan Chi the Outworld equivalent of Indian? Or South Asian, at the very least?

Quan Chi was a miner before being contacted.

I feel like if Liu Kang gave him and Shang Tsung Bob Smith lives (average, but happy), none of this would be happening. Or at the very least, they wouldn't have jumped at the call right away.

No, Baraka. That's NRS, as no one would want to see you before Tarkat, apparently. Even though I would.

So part of Johnny's outfit is Kenshi's blindfold. That's actually really nice. Keep proving you're a good guy, Johnny. I like it.

Going by the look on Bi-Han's face, this wasn't intentional. It's the "rock falls from a cliff to show how much of a drop it will be" trope. But the cut back to him leaves it ambiguous.

**Well, he made Shinnok powerless, so the answer is yes.

So did Jerrod and Sindel adopt Rain?

So Ermac's MK9 ending is canon here. I'm glad we actually get to see Jerrod, but this sucks.

Liu Kang didn't mention Bi-Han's betrayal, so Kuai and Tomas didn't bring Bi-Han to him. Did… did they bring him to the Lin Kuei Temple? That's so stupid.*****

Ah, Deception reference. Clever.

Talking needs to stop being a free action. Attack him while he's monologuing, damn it!

I feel like this fight is meant to be NRS's apology to those who didn't like evil Sindel.

RIP Sindel. At least your soul resides with Jerrod now.

*****So that's a yes.

Why not go there and bring Shang Tsung, the guy Bi-Han betrayed you for, with you, so he can explain to Bi-Han what's happening, and how the Lin Kuei needs to help Team Earthrealm? Or has he served his purpose in the narrative, so goodbye? That happened with Baraka, so that's probably it.

So that was story mode. Lots of stuff got rushed through, but it's not all bad. Baraka, Johnny, Kenshi, Liu Kang, Mileena, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, and Shang Tsung got all the best writing. Everyone else is either fine or isn't. The chapter system needs to go.

As a Lin Kuei fan, I am not a fan of the Lin Kuei subplot. It does what it's intended to do, but I personally do not like it.

Account of the Braided Bandits (SS095)

On one side of the River, Daxi Jin and Lord Black-Lance. On the other side at the Tiger's Pen, Mao Dezu.

The Braided Heads Bandits have the family name Tuoba. Their ancestors were descendants of the Han general Li Ling. Ling surrendered to the Xiongnu and had several hundreds and thousands of offspring, each one established fame and reputation. The Braided Heads likewise are one of them. At the beginning of Jin, the Braided Heads kind had their section groups of several ten thousand families in Yunzhong.

At the end of Emperor Hui's regin, the Inspector of Bing province, the Duke of Dongying, Sima Teng, was besieged by the Xiongnu at Jinyang. The Shanyu of the Braided Heads, Yichi, dispatched an army to help Teng.

Emperor Huai's 3rd Year of Yongjia [309 AD], Chi's younger brother Lu led the section groups from Yunzhong to enter Yanmen. He went to the Inspector of Bing province, Liu Kun, to press for Loufan etc., five counties. Kun was not able to hold authority, and moreover wished to depend on Lu for aid. He therefore sent up words:

Lu's older brother Chi had merit in saving Teng. Old achievements ought to be recorded. [I] request to move the people of the five counties to Xinxing, and use their land to settle him.

Kun also petitioned to ennoble Lu as Duke of Dai commandery.

At the beginning of Emperor Min's regin, he again advanced Lu to be King of Dai, and added revenue from Changshan commandery. Afterwards within Lu's state there was great chaos, and when Lu died, his son was also young and immature. The section groups divided and scattered.

Lu's grandson Shiyijian was brave and strong, the multitudes then adhered to him. He was titled Duke of Shangluo, to the north he had the Sand Desert, to the south he occupied Yin Mountain, his multitudes numbered several hundred thousands. Afterwards he was routed by Fu Jian, who took him back to Chang'an. Later he was allowed to return north.

[Shiyi]jian died, his son Kai, courtesy name Shegui, was installed in replacement. Before this, Murong Chui of the Xianbei usurped the title in Zhongshan. Xiaowu of Jin's 21st Year of Taiyuan [396 AD], Chui died. Kai led 100 000 cavalry to besiege Zhongshan. Next Year, 4th Month [13 May – 11 June 397], he overcame it. Thereupon he ruled the central provinces, declared himself as Wei, and titled the year Tianci [“Heaven's Bestowal”]. 1st Year, he set his seat at Pingcheng in Dai commandery's Sangqian county, established schools and officials, and set up boards of the Masters of Writing.

Kai was quite learned and informed, and comprehended astronomy. His customs was to sacrifice to Heaven in the 4th Month, and at the end of the 6th Month lead a great multitude to Yin Mountain. He spoke of it as turning back the frost. The distance between Yin Mountain and Pingcheng is 600 li. There is deep, far-reaching and rich forest, and frost and snow have never once melted away, perhaps he intended to use warm air to turn back the cold.

When he died, he was secretly buried, without a place for the grave mound. Reaching the seeing off of the burial, they had both emptily built an inner coffin and erected a barrow and outer coffin. All of the chariots, horses, and implements he had made use of while alive they burned to see off the perished.

Kai was violent, cruel and fond of killing, the people could not bear his instructions. Before this, there was a spirit magician who warned Kai he would have a violent misfortune, only by executing Qinghe and killing ten thousand people could it be avoided. Kai therefore wiped out Qinghe, one commandery. He often killed people with his own hand, wishing to make it number a full ten thousand. Sometimes, he would drive a small carriage, and with his own hand hold the sword [and?] strike the carriage rim at people's brain. When one person died, another person replaced them, all in one action. The dead were several tens. At night he constantly changed and altered the place where he slept, so that people did not know. Only a loved concubine named Wanren [“Ten thousand Persons”] knew about his location. Wanren had secret intercourse with Kai's son, the King of Qinghe. He worried the affair would become known and wished to kill Kai. He made Wanren his inner agent. At night they waited until Kai was alone at the place, and killed him. As Kai was approaching death, he said:

The talk about Qinghe and ten thousand people then were about you.

That year was Emperor An's 5th Year of Yixi [409 AD].

Kai's second son, the King of Qi, Si, courtesy name Mumo, apprehended the King of Qinghe, and responded to him with shouting and weeping, saying:

The weightiest in a person's life is the father. Why are you talking of making rebellion?

He pressured and made him kill himself. Si was installed in replacement. He posthumously titled Kai as the Guiding and Martial [daowu] August Emperor.

13th Year [417 AD], Gaozu went west to attack Chang'an. Si had previously taken as wife a daughter of Yao Xing, and therefore dispatched 100 cavalry to gather and join up north of the He to save him. They were greatly routed by Gaozu, the affair is in the biographies of Zhu Chaoshi and others. Hence he dispatched envoys to seek peace, and from then envoys and instructions passed through yearly. Gaozu dispatched the General Within the Halls, Shen Fan, Suo Jisun as responding envoys. They were already returning from instructing and had reached the He but not yet crossed, when Si heard the news of Gaozu's collapse. He pursued and apprehended Fan and others, and cut of peaceful relations. Only when Taizu was enthroned did he dispatch Fan and others back home.

3rd Year of Yongchu, 10th Month [31 October 422 – 29 November 422], Si himself led a multitude to arrive at Fangcheng. He dispatched the General of Zheng Troops and Inspector of Yang province, the Duke of Shanyang, Daxi Jin, the General of Wu Troops and Inspector of Guang province, the Duke of Cangwu, Gongsun Biao, and the Master of Writing Hua Ji, to lead more than 20 000 infantry and cavalry, cross south south-west of Huatai at Shiji [the “Stone Crossing”] on the border of Dongyan county, with the supply wagons, the weak and tired, accompanying himself.

The Defence Master of Huatai, General who Soothes the Distant and Grand Warden of Dong commandery, Wang Jingdu, hurried to report to the General of the Best of the Army and Inspector of Si province, Mao Dezu. He defended Hulao, and dispatched Marshal Zhai Guang to lead the Army Advisor Pang Zi, Grand Warden of Shangdang, Liu Tanzhi, and others with 3 000 infantry and cavalry to resist them.

The army stayed at Tulou in Juan county. The bandits moved camp to two li east of Huatai City. They constructed assault implements and went daily to threaten the city. Dezu, since the defenders of Huatai were few, made Zhai Guang recruit strong soldiers among the army, and dispatched the General who Soothes the Distant, Liu Fangzhi, to lead them, and help Jingdu with the defence. Fangzhi brought along more than 80 people, and broke through to enter the city.

Dezu also dispatched the General who Chastise the Bandits and Grand Warden of Hongnong, Dou Yingming, leading 500 people, and the General who Establishes the Martial, Dou Ba, leading 250 people. Both were to use water forces and succeed each other in issuing out, and would together be under the authority of Zhai Guang.

Earlier, the fugitive Sima Chuzhi and others would often hide and conceal themselves on the borders of Chenliu commandery. When the bandits had crossed south, they hurried to join up with them. They chased away and fomented in the border areas, and greatly became a worry for the people. Dezu dispatched the Prefect of Changshe, Wang Fazheng, to lead 500 people and occupy Shaoling, while general Liu Lian led 200 cavalry to reach Yongiu and defend it. Chuzhi assaulted Lian at Baima county, and was routed by Lian. By chance army supplies sent off from the palace arrived, and Lian went to welcome them, but a commoner from Suanzao, Wang Yu, knew that Lian was to the south, and hurried to report to the bandits. The bandit general Hua Ji led a thousand to drive a raid on Cangyuan, the troops and personnel fully went over the walls to scatter and flee. The Grand Warden of Chenliu, Yan Man, was captured by the bandits. The bandits immediately employed Wang Yu as Grand Warden of Chenliu, controlling the troops defending Cangyuan.

11th Month [30 November – 28 December 422], the bandits attacked the walls of Huatai with full strength. The north-eastern walls collapsed into ruin, and Wang Jingdu set out and ran. Jingdu's Marshal Yang Zan stood firm in defence, and did not move. [Though] the multitudes dispersed, he was unyielding and steadfast and did not surrender, and was killed by the bandits.

Dou Yingming struck the bandits' supply wagons at Shiji, and routed them. He killed more than 500 of the thieves, and beheaded their Defence Masters [lacuna]-lian Neitou, Zhang Suo'er and others. Yingming from Shiji proceeded to Huatai, heard the city was already lost, and thereupon advanced to station at Yinmao. Dou Ba hurried to go to Zhai Guang.

When the bandits had overcome Huatai, they combined their strength towards Guang and others. His strength was no match, he pulled back and withdrew, turned to fight and then went forward. For two days and one night, he cut down travel to ten or so li. The bandits' infantry armies continuously arrived. Guang and others' arrows were exhausted and their strength at an end, they were greatly defeated. Guang, Ba, Tanzhi, and others each dispersed on their own and turned back. The bandits exploited the victory to then arrive at Hulao. Dezu set out with infantry and cavalry intending to strike them. The bandits withdrew and stationed at Tulao, and again withdrew to turn back to Huatai.

The people of Chang'an, Weichang, and Lantian counties lived beside Hulao. Dezu in all cases made them enter the city. The bandits separately dispatched Lord Black-Lance to lead 3 000 people to Heyang, intending to cross south and capture Jinyong. Dezu dispatched the General who Rouses Power and Prefect of Heyin, Dou Huang, with 500 people to defend Xiaolei [lit. “small ramparts”], the Prefect of Goushi, Wang Yu, with 400 people to occupy Jiancang, the Prefect of Gong, Chen Chen, with 500 people to strengthen Xiaoping, and the Army Advisor Supervising Protector, Zhang Ji, to station at Niulan. He also dispatched the general and leader Ma Dui [?], together with the Prefect of Luoyang, Yang Yi, a combined 200 cavalry, to hem the banks of the He and follow the moment to go and link up.

12th Month [29 December 422 – 27 January 423], the bandits set up defences at the Luo Stream's small ramparts. Dezu dispatched Zhai Guang to hurriedly go and strike them. The bandits withdrew and fled. Guang calmly erected defensive dikes, repaired and organized the walls and fortifications, and then turned back to Hulao.

The Inspector of Yu province, Liu Cui, dispatched the [Assistant at] Headquarters Gao Daojin, to lead 500 infantry and cavalry to occupy Xiang. He also dispatched Marshal Xu Qiong to support him. The palace dispatched generals Fu Boqian, Yao Zhen, Du Tan, Liang Lingzai, and others with various naval and infantry forces to carry on the advance. The Inspector of Xu province, Wang Zhongde, led an army to stay at Hulu.

Lord Black-Lance dispatched his Senior Clerk to bring along 1 000 people to pressure Dou Huang and Yang Yi. Huang and others confronted, struck, and seized him, capturing alive 200 people. Afterwards, the General of Zheng Troops with 5 000 cavalry unexpectedly assaulted Huang and others. Black-Lance crossed and combined strength with him, and they attacked the ramparts on four sides. Huang and others' strength was little and their multitudes scattered. Huang and Yi both were heavily wounded.

The bandits' general, the Duke of Anping, E Qing, crossed south with two armies of 7 000 people, east below of Que'ao and arrived at Sidoukou, about 100 li from Yinmao. The Inspector of Yan province, Xu Yan, abandoned the army and garrisons, and fled. Hence Taishan and other commanderies equally neglected defences.

Zheng Troops, together with Gongsun Bao and the General of Song Troops and Inspector of Yan province, the Marquis of Jiaozhi, Pu Ji, with 15 000 cavalry then went towards Hulao. They formed camp 5 li south-east of the city, and divided off infantry and cavalry unfolding [?] from Chenggao towards the western gate in Hulao's outer walls. Dezu confronted and struck them, killing and wounding more than a hundred people. The bandits withdrew to protect the camp.

The General who Garrisons the North, Tan Daoji, led a navy north to rescue. The General of Chariots and Cavalry, the King of Luling, Yizhen, dispatched the Dragon-Prancing General, Shen Shuli, with 3 000 people to go to the Inspector of Yu province, Liu Cui, to measure the suitability of hurrying aid[?].

Mortal Kombat: In the end: Eye of the storm.

Summary: Raiden finds himself confronted by old allies.

Raiden returned to the sky temple, crimson lightning heralding his arrival. His enforcer, the undead Liu Kang, stood lifelessly and awaiting instructions.

The grand battle of Armageddon would happen within hours. And he would need to be in attendance to begin his plan.

Unfortunately, he sensed arrivals in his temple. All of which he knew expertly.

“I know you are watching me, brother.”

“Then you know what I am here for.”

Raiden turned around slowly. Seeing his brother, Kung Lao and Kai flanking his sides as they stared at the resurrected Liu Kang. Raiden felt another presence, but he couldn’t quite pinpoint the identity.

Kung Lao spoke first.

“Lord Raiden, what have you done to Liu Lang?!”

“I have brought him to life. Liu Kang was a skilled warrior, likely the greatest mortal warrior I know. But his unwillingness to kill led to his demise. If he had killed Shang Tsung or Shao Kahn during his earlier encounters, perhaps fate would have turned differently.”

Kai stepped forward, far less restrained than Lao.

“Liu Kang was a hero! He deserves better than having a desecrated body!”

“I will not be dissuaded from my duty. Earthrealm has suffered because of my mercy. When I have Blaze’s power, none will threaten this realm again.”

“Who are you to decide the fates of other realms? We are to govern Earthrealm, our duty should be to the mortals! That is what you told me.”

Raiden closed his eyes, a painful reminder.

“Times have changed. I have changed. I do not wish to fight you, brother. Together, we can eliminate Outworld.”

Fujin took a fighting stance.

“You must be reminded of yourself.”

“I already know.”

Raiden shot a blast of lighting towards his brother, who blocked it with a wind barrier before he was caught by a flying tackle. As the brothers fought outside, Kai and Lao stood before the undead Liu.

‘So, what’s the plan here?” Kai asked.

“Try to restrain him, then I’ll handle the rest.”

Kai nodded, dashing into battle. He had learned new moves over his travels. He performed a cartwheel to Liu Kang, landing a series of powerful chi powered kicks. A spinning roundhouse knocked Liu Kang’s head sideways, causing Kai to cheer in victory for a moment.

“Lao, get read-

Liu Kang’s head twisted back around, no worse for wear.

“Oh, right,” Kai muttered.

Kai lit his fists on fire and thrusted them forward, only for it to be caught without much challenge. A punch hit Kai’s cheek, stumbling him long enough for Liu’s elbow to wrap around his neck and threaten to choke the life out. As Kai fought for life, he shouted to Lao.

“Lao, do it now!”

Nodding, Kung Lao took out a small soul jar. Spirits could be bound to certain objects and sent forth as obstacles. In this case, used as a way to get earthrealm’s champion back.

From the jar, Liu Kang’s emerald spirit rushed into his undead body. It convulsed, soul and body battling for control, until the body slumped forward. Kai inhaled a free breath as the grip loosened around his throat.

“Did it work?”

“Kai, Kung Lao…” Spoke the voice of their friend.

Despite the rotted visage, Liu Kang’s personality was clear.

“Thank you.”

In the outside level of the temple, Raiden and Fujin were locked in battle. Lightning and wind clashed against each other. Raiden blocked Fujin’s sword with a lightning blade, trying to ignore his brother’s pleas.

“Brother, I do not-

A lightning powered punch sent Fujin spinning back. The Wind God shot his crossbow, Raiden stopping them in mid-air before they exploded in a gust of magic energy.

Fujin landed a flying flip-kick, before shooting a powerful gust shooting Raiden to the ground. Dust rose from the crater. As Raiden stood up, Liu Kang’s hooked chains dug into his shoulders. Kai, Lao and Fujin stood before him, the former two with their hands to their weapons.

“You are outnumbered, brother. Please, stop this madness.”

Raiden’s response was a wordless stare. He gripped Liu’s chains and sent crimson lightning across it. As the shock pulsed through the corpse, Raiden sent another current along the ground, shocking his former comrades. He ripped the hooks from his shoulders, rage sparking from his eyes.

��Enough of this! I will not suffer this naivety!”

“Raiden!”

Liu Kang put his arms to his sides, inviting Raiden’s rage.

“You have been like a father to Kung Lao and I. Please, don’t let it end like this.”

Raiden looked into the blank eyes of his pupil. The eyes were calm but accepting a possible fate. The allies had eyes of desperation, hoping that it wouldn’t be so.

Is this how he wished to be seen? With fear and horror? A tyrant no better than those he had fought?

No.

The crimson rage that lit Raiden’s eyes began to change to a blue. The Thunder God fell to his knees, defeated.

“What have I done? I am a fool.”

Raiden stared to Fujin, lowering his eyes in shame.

“Punish me as a tyrant deserves. Let my next reincarnation redeem myself.”

Fujin offered a hand.

“You have made mistakes brother. Many would say you too far gone.”

Raiden looked at the hand. How could Fujin so readily accept him? After he had desecrated Liu Kang? After he had reclused himself from all? After he nearly killed him?

“What do you say, brother?”

“As your penance, I request your aid in the coming battle. Our allies are numerous, but they will be lacking without you leading the charge.”

Raiden took his brother’s hand, allowing himself lifted up. He looked to Liu Kang, and he guilt was almost unbearable.

“I am truly sorry, Liu Kang. You are a righteous man, undeserving of this fate.”

“I must admit, I was taken aback. But, perhaps even Gods have things to learn.”

Raiden let a sad chuckle escape his lips. Quite a true statement.

“More than you will know. Fujin, could you take us to our allies?”

Fujin shook his head.

“First, I must go before the Elder Gods. If this battle is as dangerous as I have heard, perhaps they will have some way to increase our chance at victory.”

Raiden felt a bitterness at the mention of the Elder Gods. Would they intervene? Would they deem it a proper use of their time?

Fujin mistook the silence for fear.

“Fear not, brother. I will ensure you are kept from punishment. For now, at least.”

For the first time since his reincarnation, Raiden felt a sliver of hope in his soul. Despite his transgressions, his brother and pupils saw a chance for redemption. And with all the strength in his soul, Raiden would try to prove worthy of it.

So swore Raiden, protector of Earthrealm.
