So, Kaida is the Elemental Master of Spirit. Maybe it's just me, but Kaida's powers remind me a lot of Lloyd's, at least the way they work.

Energy is basically the force that surrounds us and/or the essence of life, at least as far as I understand it, and Kaida can precisely control that essence. Lloyd's powers should also be able to manipulate, snatch or give that essence to any living being, as well as see auras and know if someone is lying or not, although Lloyd has the healing factor added and can use it effectively In a fight. (There are fanfics where they explain this and the extent of Lloyd's powers better than I can, but I think you get the idea).

With that in mind, are Kaida's powers a branch or a sub-element of Lloyd's, (spirit being a sub-element of energy)? ¿Something similar to how lightning is a sub-element of wind and storm?

I love talking about elemental powers so here's my explanation of how both elements work:

The difference is, while Lloyd can create pure energy, what Kaida actually does is just bend people's souls.

Kaida's powers are limited exclusively to controlling the auras of living beings and her own. She can see auras (even tell if someone is lying, or is an elemental master), absorb/increase people's life energy, steal it to use for fighting/protects herself. However, she ALWAYS depends on another living being to be able to use them, she cannot create her own energy (she can project her spirit but that is an ability I will explain another time). During a fight she can technically gain "energy" whenever it is being stolen from an opponent and accumulate it to use later.

While Lloyd can heal himself, in my opinion his powers have more to do with pure energy/creation than control the essence of souls/spirits. He does not depend on other living beings to use them, he can even transmit his energy to objects or people at will. So it's just apeaers, at least in my hc, that his green power is in reality a "weaker" version of the golden power.

Simply put, Lloyd (or even Jay) are walking batteries and Kaida is a little bridge between the living and the dead.
