As of today, all 27 manga chapters and 43 episodes of Saint Tail have been fully retranslated from scratch! Please click here to check it out!
This project started at around the beginning of July, so I have to admit that it's quite the feeling to have finally finished all of the translation work! To be honest, I was a bit self-conscious about how the unusual release schedule and the abnormally extensive documentation would be received, but we've gotten quite a few supportive comments, so thank you so much!
(Look, it's just really hard to make a claim like "almost every page of the manga has wordplay or some kind of metaphor, meaning previous English translations lost almost a whole half of the plot and made the entire ending and epilogue come off as saying the opposite of what they're actually supposed to" unless you have sufficient evidence to make a case for it...)
It may not be exaggeration to say that this has probably been the most challenging translation I've ever tackled to date, even though the deceptively simple plot doesn't make it come off as that kind of series at first glance, so I hope all of the effort that the rest of the team and I put into it can come through and that people can enjoy it as much as possible.
In regards to future plans: I want to take a look at some more of Tachikawa's works (I made a post about this earlier, but none of her other work has been treated well in translation), as well as perhaps some other magical girl series that need translation love. But I can't make any explicit promises, especially since I'd have to juggle it with a huge backlog of other stuff...and also, I need a break after almost six months straight of this 😅 I'm off to enjoy the rest of the winter holiday, and I hope you all do too. If you do decide to check out the series with the new translation in the meantime, I'd definitely be really happy if you posted reactions 😊

I received this cutie today! 💖 I remember when this blog was so focused on Saint Tail (hence my url).... honoring the gool old times, I decided to change topic for a moment and post my Saint Tail nendoroid here too!🩷
I'm certainly not an expert of nendoroids (I only own this one and one of Sakura) but I can certainly say it's all I could ever hope for Saint Tail! It's not one of those series that's getting a remake or a reboot/revival, so seeing a little of attention on it always feels like a miracle!!
The nendo comes with all the "essential" elements to define this a proper Saint Tail doll: Ruby, her hat and her wand! There's also a good supply of spare arms/hands/legs + joint for different poses, while the faces are 3 in total! There's an additional support in case you want to make Ruby "jump" on her own next to her! Even her ponytail is positionable however you want because it's got a dedicated joint!
It's seriously so damn cute and now I can't help but ask for an Asuka Jr. nendo to place beside (after) her!! 🥹 Little me (but also the me who ran this blog in 2013-2016) would be sooooo damn shocked and happy to see this nendoroid! Once again the proof that you should "never say never"!

Closing thoughts on Saint Tail
This turned out to be exactly what the premise suggested and nothing more or less. It's a magical girl kaitou story, i.e. the heroine steals valuable items, but the reader knows she has a justifiable reason (like the item was stolen in the first place and she's just returning it to the original owner). The male lead is her detective classmate determined to catch her, and this of course leads to love drama when he is drawn to both her theif and civilian selves.

I don't think I've ever been in the target audience for Nakayoshi love stories but I suppose this is nice for what it is. I didn't really get anything out of the romance but I did like the heroine at least. It's nice that we start the story from a point where she's already been doing the Saint Tail thing for some time so she's already good at it, I tend to like it when the main character is confident and competent. She also has a top tier magical girl design.
The magical girl element is that Saint Tail uses stage magic for her heists, or the stuff she does would make no sense in real life but within the story there's no supernatural elements that I can think of. Which I think is a nice change and a fresh addition to the magical girl genre, we know the story doesn't need to have a girl to be a part of the genre but now I know of a story that doesn't have (actual) magic in it instead.
Finally a special shout out to the "Japanese don't know how Christianity works" aspect, the nun-in-training classmate (Saint Tail's informant) who tattles the confessions of the churchgoers to her friend is just an amazing story element.
