Karn isn’t a master Sculptor like Valus, but he does his best to capture your likeness on Valentine’s Day.

Three times he had been without a spark. The first time it had been all he'd ever known, the way things were supposed to be; the second time it had been torture, a trap he had sprung in his panic to fix his mistakes; the third time, the current time, is a blessing and punishment.
Tumblr media
The space within him where his spark once was is an abyss, an indescribable emptiness gnawing at him and yearning to be filled, and yet what punishment would be more fitting, for a person who caused so many deaths and destruction? In the end, he truly is his creator's creature, arrogantly traveling through planes just like Urza and unwittingly serving as herald of destruction through phyrexian hands. Even if that threat is supposed to be contained, hadn't they believed the same in the wake of Yawgmoth's defeat? So all the better he be contained as well.
He understands that his feelings are irrational, that not every step he had taken had left an oily footprint..But it's a small comfort
Silver can bear every hit of the hammer and it survives the strain of pushing backwards through time. And yet guilt eats through it all the same

Out of all the awful things that happened to Nissa during the Phyrexian story arc, the worst is that her boobs are now permanently in jail.

Urza didn't create Karn
Many people think Urza created Karn as a time probe for his experiments with changing the past. This is partially correct, he got Karn while researching his time machine, but he didn't actually create him. He retrieved him from another plane that he found that was already resilient to the stress of time travel... This whole time. Karn has actually been a Cyberman from the Doctor Who universe that Urza reprogrammed using Xantcha's heartstone.
The metallic human-ish shape matches, the time travel matches, and then when freed from Urza's commands Karn went to create an entirely metallic world filled with metal golem people like him. When that world got overrun by Phyrexian oil that seeped from him, instead of matching the original Phyrexian ideals of perfection being earned and fought for, those New Phyrexians were dead set on "compleating" and transforming flesh people into more of their own, by integrating more metal into them. This is just the typical Cyberman programming worming its way onto Karn's own Glistening Oil.
Oh, and some people in Karn's original plane haven't forgotten about him!

Figured out I can draw an AU where Reyna wasn't kidnapped and taken away from Myrrah. So she'd have grown up with her mom and the locust horde.

Yudhishtir would have made an amazing clingy little brother. We were robbed, I tell you. ROBBED. Someone time travel back to Dwapar Yug and tell a young Karn and the Pandavs that he's their older bro (before Duryodhan tries to poison Bheem). I want to see Yudhishtir actually getting pissed off at Duryodhan because this guy is interfering with brotherly bonding time and complain to his 'Bhaiya' about Dury bullying them. I want Karn to be stuck in a state of fucking bafflement while he tries to unsuccessfully shake off a clingy Yudhishtir from his arm like a fly and also whisper yell at Duryodhan to stop troubling his brothers. But by Yamraj, Yudhi won't let go because FINALLY he gets to stop being the eldest and can make all his dreams come true about being a pampered little sibling. And Karn (and Dury) is just going to have to deal with it. Cry Duryodhan. Cry.
And Karn... Karn fucking LOVES having siblings. He loves being called Bhaiya because he's never had actual siblings before and that's one thing he often wishes he had. He's hated the Pandavs, but now that he knows the truth, he's going to protect them from Yamraj himself (never mind that Yudhi IS Yamraj's son) and bring them anything they want. The full potential of his older brother powers have been unlocked finally. While he was totally little brother-ing the Kauravs, they weren't completely his because Dury was their eldest (not that he has any issues with sharing. the guy will give Karn anything he wants lmao). But now Karn has his own little set of siblings and he's thrilled, but don't tell Yudhi or else he'll become even more clingy (Karn doesn't really mind).
PS This is NOTHING compared to how spoiled Arjun would have grown up had Karn been there. I just have a very strong feeling that these two would have been very close and it would have taken one look from Arjun's puppy dog eyes or a whiny 'Bhaiiiyyaaaa' to get him whatever the fuck he wanted from Karn.

I think like a year ago I and my friend decided to write a book from the POVs of Arjun and Duryodhan. The pattern was supposed to be like the Will Grayson, Will Grayson style, where one chapter would be from the POV of Arjun, and the next from the POV of Dury, and so on. It'd take place probably from their training with Drona till their retirement to the Himalayas maybe. The book would also have a huge amount of KrishJun and DuryKarn moments (with TSOA kinda tension), obviously, but also many moments of these two Kurus with their wives. And also Shikhandi would have more subplots than just about his transition.
But atp I'm not sure if I can. So in case someone else can write this book, I'd love to read it, or even help.

Might I ask about what happens to Karn (In the game?)
Sure! In game, nothing bad happens to Karn when Death finishes his mission in the Forge Lands.
He helps Death put the heart stones into the Guardian, and then stays behind in the Forge.

Urza: I have created a time machine! With this we can go back and prevent the phyrexians from ever existing!
Barrin: No, you’ve ruined a perfectly good golem is what you’ve done. Look at it, it has depression.

Bhism: Have you ever broken a bone?
Bheem: Yes.
Bhism: Did it hurt?
Bheem: No.
Bhism: How?

Karn
Both part of the Legacy and an individual in his own right, the silver golem Karn is haunted by a single, terrible incident: while serving to protect the young Gerrard, Karn accidentally took the life of another. Wakened from years spent as a statue, the golem has vowed to never kill again as he rejoins Gerrard.

Holy crap I just saw the token Venser makes (I haven't been able to purchase Phyrexia: All will be One yet).

It's Karn. Venser's last act was giving everything he could to his friend and mentor. Now twisted and animated by Phyrexia, he creates the last thing he remembers endlessly.
Does he know why he creates this specific golem endlessly? Is it done due to sorrow? Reverence? Mockery? Is he even aware enough to know? Eternally making empty versions of his friend. No matter how many times they are destroyed, he always makes sure The Hollow Sentinel is there. By his side.
