Making “TALENTED” 💀🔨 In the studio w/ Keith Armstrong at the helm! 🔥 WATCH HERE. I wrote this song about always being too fucking much or not enough for people’s perception of you or the shape they want you to fit. Especially as a queer person making rock music. Feeling at war with the capitalism + the mainstream + substance abuse, + everyone who worships it. ☣️ “Talented” comes from a place of rage + trying to channel that into some sort of self-empowerment to keep myself going. When I tracked the demo with Keith, I knew I wanted the song have a sort of “industrial” feel (taking inspiration from bands like Filter 🙌🏼) which he did an incredible job of steering us towards, + ultimately I think we pulled off. 👹 Keith amazes me at every turn. The highlights of these sessions were playing the insane guitar tones Keith carved out, getting to scream + pour myself into my lyrics, + geeking over the modular synthesizers. Honestly stoked about the overall heaviness. 🫠 I’m really proud of this song + appreciate the relief it brings me in my own tangled existence. Most of the time I feel deeply alone in my art + my struggles, but I maintain hope for authenticity + alternative rock music + my dreams. 🕯️ I’m trusting y’all w/ my raw vocals here lol.
