a good book to read to learn more about the relationship between Israel and India is “Hostile Homelands” by Azad Essa. India is looking to Israel treatment of Palestinians as a blueprint for its own crimes against Kashmiris, Muslims and Dalits. India is also complicit in furthering Israeli settler colonialism in Palestine - the Port of Haifa is currently partly owned by Adani Ports & SEZ, the founder of which is one of the wealthiest men in India, Gautam Adani (won’t come as a surprise that Adani is also very close to Modi and the BJP)

A note: I know annoying Desis are going to see this and go "Oh but Kashmir is Pakistan's because-" and "Kashmir is an integral part of India because-". I must make my stance clear: Kashmir belongs to the Kashmiris, the natives, no matter what religion they belong to. Neither Pakistan nor India get to decide the matter of Kashmiri sovereignty. The reasons given by both parties as to why Kashmir should be a part of either nation are bullshit. The United Nations itself recognises Kashmir as a disputed region, so I will not entertain dumbfuckery. I highly encourage fellow Indians especially to take the time to go through and properly understand the violence the government enacts on Kashmiris. I've also included links to learn more about Kashmiri culture because really, what do the rest of us know about it? Culturally and linguistically Kashmir differs so much from the rest of India and Pakistan (also the amount of fetishization of Kashmiri women...yikes). We desperately need to reconsider our West versus non-West understanding of the geography of colonialisms. The years 1947 and 1948 mark the creation of the nation-states of India and Israel. These years scar Kashmiris and Palestinians.

Palestinians have been dispossessed of territory and many forced into exile. Kashmir was handed over from an unpopular ruler without the legitimacy of popular vote to the Indian state on October 26, 1947.

A condition of that accession is the United Nations resolution of 1948 for referendum or plebiscite, never facilitated by the Indian state. Israel and India thus inaugurate the colonial occupations of Palestine and Kashmir.

the phuktal gompa monastery in kashmir is built around a natural cave situated on a cliff of lugnak valley. the cave itself is thought to have served as a shelter for monks - in particular, the sixteen arhats - before the monastery was built around it ~2,500 years ago. today, it's home to 70 monks and a monastic school.

The days leading to Ramadan doesn't feel like the days leading to Ramadan. Maybe it's a personal experience, maybe others can sympathize, regardless this Ramadan do not forget to keep the oppressed in your duas.

Pray for Sudan, Congo, Armenia, Kashmir, Uyghur, and every other oppressed group of people as much as you would for Palestine. Do not let this month where all prayers are accepted go by without praying every single day for the freedom of the oppressed.

Remember that when we fast, there are others who fast involuntarily. Remember that when we break our fasts, others cannot. Remember that every drop of water, every bite of food, every breath of fresh air, and every day that we wake up without a threat to our life is a blessing that not everyone has.

Please donate to organizations that aim to provide those who are deserving of aid. Please donate to those who are needy in your own neighborhood. Please do not lose hope that the oppressed will be victorious because we do not have that right to grieve for a fight that is being fought every single day by people are have been stripped of their basic human rights.

Even if you are not Muslim or believe in a higher power, please do not forget about those who are suffering. Let us continue to elevate the voices of those under oppression until freedom is achieved.

Remember that we are not free until we are all free
