i was looking at old katarina and garen bios and stuff bc idk talking about it yesterday made me nostalgic i guess and it's funny to me that they were obviously designed with the intent of them eventually a couple and yet it's been over a decade and here we are

anyway remember when bios had quotes from other champions and kat's was garen's and it said "The Sinister Blade of Noxus is like a black widow - beautiful, but deadly." be less obvious with the black widow inspiration rito

and also that garen's first bio said their fight literally had the witnesses commenting on the sexual tension ("It was beneath their mighty banners of war that Garen first met steel with Katarina, the Sinister Blade. The infantrymen who beheld this event (and survived) commented that it seemed as though the two were locked in a mortal waltz against a symphony of clashing blades.")

and that with the whole plot they used the journals of justice to tell kat and tal working together (🥹) to find marcus eventually led to them working with jarvan and garen because of stuff happening in demacia and when j4 reveals that and katarina shows up with him the dauntless vanguard immediately tries to kill her and garen fights them to defend her. as pictured below.

i am very critical of how the lore handles garen currently and how the comic handled their brief interaction and i think it's a ship that only works under certain circumstances but. old katgaren was top tier actually we love a good enemies to lovers in this house

Annie is fixated on a mirror, awkwardly moving a black crayon across her face. Eventually, she's finished, exchanging the crayon for Tibbers. "Kata! Kata look!" Annie rushes over, reaching out to grab her sleeve. She had drawn a, wobbly and unsteady, line down her left eye, resembling Katarina's scar. "Now I'm like you! Hehehehe!" Giggling she hugged Tibbers before running off again. "I AM KATA FEAR ME!"

She doesn't pay much attention to what, exactly, Annie is up to in front of the mirror, distracted with studying the details for her next mission. It is only when the girl rushes to her that she turns her attention to what Annie so wishes to show — only to find an unsteadily drawn line of black crayon above her left eye.

There is a moment, that feels as if it lasts too long despite being but a second, where she stands stunned in front of the display. Katarina carries many scars, though none had left a mark as deep beyond the skin as the one Annie now imitates; it was a sign of her disgrace, of shame for so long. She's not ashamed of it, not anymore; but neither is it ever looked at as an attribute worthy of affection, not even purely for being part of her now. It will always be a painful reminder; an open wound that leads straight to her greatest tragedies, as much as it is one of her most recognizable features.

It's not that deep, she tells herself — Annie is a child, one who wasn't forced to leave her childish ways behind as Katarina herself had been. She was simply copying what was an obvious physical feature to look like her. But isn't that part of the wonder, too? She wants to look like her.

Katarina smiles at the display, a hand gently patting her head before Annie runs off again. "You look very dangerous," The overwhelming affection she feels is channeled into joining in the act, playful as she speaks. "Just like me."

As we approach MSI there’s a new round of League of Legends patch notes to sink our teeth into – literally, as the MOBA‘s beloved Cats vs Dogs skinline has made a comeback post-April 1. If you pick up the Nidalee skin you’ll probably get the chance to make good use of it, as meta junglers Lee Sin, Sejuani, and Vi are taking the nerf hammer to the face in 13.7. Lee Sin, Sejuani, and Vi all get nerfed I’d be a liar if I said writing that didn’t give me an awful sense of satisfaction. All three junglers have dominated the meta – especially in pro play – and as a result are getting taken down a few pegs ahead of MSI. Lee Sin’s base attack damage and armour have been knocked down by a couple of points each, and Vi has been shifted towards AD to negate her building tank items but dealing out huge amounts of damage. Sejuani’s Arctic Assault (Q) and Glacial Prison (R) now also have longer cooldowns, and her passive’s damage cap has been decreased to stop her easily beating up epic monsters like drakes and the Baron.
