Today's 12 Days of Dollstagram challenge on Instagram is Nutcracker! I find it fitting that Kenleigh is watching Barbie in The Nutcracker, both for the challenge and to commemorate the movie's 20th anniversary. That's right, the very first Barbie movie ever made turns 20 this year! I remember when it came out - I was in middle school. :D Ah, the memories!
It's a rainy, dreary Memorial Day here! It's a good day to play board games, since a BBQ is out! So Kenleigh and Damian have broken out some of their favorites. Some games, like Monopoly, have so many pieces that one table isn't enough to properly set it up. :D What are some of your favorite board games?
Kenleigh is buying Oriental Avenue!
Damian got a chance card that told him to go back three spaces. He doesn’t look amused.
Kenleigh has the T-Rex pawn, while Damian went for the classic car!
Sometimes, a game has so many components that one table isn’t enough!
Next up: Operation!
Damian’s going for the broken heart!
Anyone been watching the new Chucky series? What do you think so far? I always liked the movies, at least until Seed. Kind of scary considering my house is full of dolls LOL! Kenleigh seems to be having a similar problem.
(doorbell rings and Kenleigh runs out to check) "What in the world...?"
“I’m your friend to the end!”
“Who put this here and why?”
“It’s just a doll... like me.”
"So, you're the doll everyone's afraid of? You're pretty creepy-looking, I'll give you that. Not sure why so many kids in the 80s coveted one of these things."
"Here, sit down while I go make some popcorn to watch you on TV."
(sees Child's Play DVD) "What is this?!"
(Kenleigh hears yelling and runs back into the living room)
Chucky: "What the heck is this?! Why am I on this box?!"
"Uh... how are you alive?" (screams)
"You're a doll, just like me... we're on the same side, right? Give me back that yard stick. I need it for crafting."
(Damian hears Kenleigh's screaming) "What's going on?!"
"I have a yard stick and I know how to use it!"
Damian: "Dude, you're half my size. And I'm a vampire. I think I'll win. Now drop it."
(Chucky jumps on Kenleigh) "We'll see who wins! Wanna play?"
Damian: "Sure. Let's play soccer. GET OFF HER!" (kick)
Damian: "That's what my vampire-strength foot does to your face. Kenleigh, no more dolls!"
(Kenleigh wakes up in bed terrified)
Damian: "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
Kenleigh: "Damian, I just had the worst dream ever! A Chucky doll showed up at the house, and he came to life and attacked me, and you saved me... but then the most horrible thing happened. You said I couldn't have any more dolls!"
(Damian gives Kenleigh a "seriously?" look and rolls over) "Good night."
Kenleigh: "Sheesh, some people don't know the horror of being deprived of dolls."
Happy Throwback Thursday! Did you know that Pokemon is 25 years old this year? I didn't really get into it until Sun & Moon came out thanks to my favorite Pokemon, Lycanroc. It looks like a wolf! And it's pretty powerful too, at least in my experience. :D I got this adorable plush Lycanroc several years ago straight from Japan because at the time the American Pokemon Center didn't have it available. I also made a Pokemon trainer cap and Pokeball out of a bead (but the paint is rubbing off, so I need to fix it - for this photoshoot I used the top of a mini gachapon machine lol).
Before Lycanroc, my favorite was Squirtle, and that was just because he was a turtle lol He and Pikachu were pretty much the only ones I knew! :D
Kenleigh has donned her Pikachu shirt and trainer cap, and she's on the hunt! Looks like she added a good number to her collection. Because, remember - gotta catch 'em all!
A wild Pokemon appears! Wonder what it is... Kenleigh is ready to catch it!
“Lycanroc, I choose you!”
“You can do it, Lycanroc!”
Kenleigh and I love Lycanroc! I envision this to be about the scale of the evolved Pokemon based on the size of it in the game compared to the kids lol
Gotta catch ‘em all!
Merry Christmas, everyone! Did Santa pay a visit to your house? Hope everyone has something good under their tree! Do you go for the bigger or smaller boxes first? They say big things come in small packages, but let's face it - we all go for the bigger boxes first! :D
Happy #ThrowbackThursday! Did you know that the Princess Diaries movie was released 20 years ago in 2001? Wow, how time flies! I remember seeing it when it was brand new. I was in eighth grade. I didn't read the books until I was in high school, and I fell in love with them. The movie is great, too! We won't talk about the disappointment that was the sequel, though. :D
In honor of the movie's 20th birthday, Kenleigh broke out her DVD for a little movie night! Is it different from the books? Of course, but it's still great in its own right! I especially love how Mia and I share a birthday (only mentioned in the books, but still epic)!
Break out the popcorn, and the princess-inspired nightgown (it actually came with the Princess Adventure three-pack LOL):
This would be me trying to eat with a scarf binding me to a chair!
Cheering at Mia's decision to retain her title as Princess of Genovia!
Even though the characters of Grandmere are different between the movie and books, I think we can all agree that Julie Andrews was a great addition to this movie!
The movie is almost over, and Mia and Michael have their happy ending! Swoon.
Mia may have liked Josh at first, but I personally always thought Michael looked better from the beginning LOL!
Mini DVD I made:
Eggnog or hot chocolate? I prefer hot chocolate! :D
Do you have a New Year's resolution? I'm hoping to lose weight and take better care of myself. I started using Tonal late summer/early fall, and I'm down almost 20 pounds. Yay me! I've been much more wary about what I've been eating as well, which is helped by the fact that hubby got me a Fit Bit. We're both working to be healthier now. Kenleigh is plugging away at it too, but considering she's plastic, all I'd have to do to make her lose weight is swap her head LOL.
The Renaissance Festival is going on! Kenleigh wore her costume to the festivities this year. :D She met Juliet, some dragons, a fairy, and even a little sorcerer's apprentice!
All hail the queen!
The new mother of dragons :D
Juliet is looking for her Romeo. Sorry, Kenleigh hasn’t seen him.
“Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou?”
The little princess is studying under the castle’s sorcerer. And she even has her own pet dragon!
The fairy gives Kenleigh a special stone, promising that it will grant any wish.
Do you still send or receive Christmas cards? It's kind of a dying art these days thanks to the wonders of technology. A lot of people who still get them have a nice place to display them. Kenleigh chooses her fireplace mantle!
Did I hear there's a new #myownbarbiestyle theme?! Yes!!! In honor of the latest #barbiestyle doll, the theme this time is Yellow! I surprised myself with how much yellow stuff I had lol! Besides the clothes, there is also a glass of lemonade, headband, cute handbags and a backpack, and even a Pikachu and Gudetama as a tribute to my love of all things Japan! Keep these challenges coming!
Happy Wednesday!!! Guess what premieres tonight? CSI: Las Vegas! Yep, 21 years after the original forensics crime series, we're getting a whole new show with some of the original cast reprising their roles! I'm psyched! And so is Kenleigh, who is watching the original series while waiting for the new one to go live!
Fun fact: When the show first aired, I was in middle school. I strongly disliked the show, probably because there was a puke scene in the very first episode. Give me a throat slash any day... but then, a few weeks later, I correctly guessed what had happened regarding a case, and I was hooked ever since. Now, I can see a snippet of an episode and identify it by season and title. :D At least the ones before Grissom left. It wasn't the same after that.
Will the new series be as good as the original? Only time will tell... let's follow the evidence (ratings) and find out!
“I know who did it! I know who the criminal is!”
“I know who the culprit is!”
First up was the town fireworks, then fireworks at home! :D
April showers bring May flowers! Happy first of April!
