El Dakar 2022 va por ESPN y Star+ para Sudamérica
Hay mucha expectativa por el Dakar 2022 que comienza este fin de semana en Arabia Saudita, especialmente por ver la nueva categoría T1 Ultimate de los autos que incluye a los T1.E (Audi) y a los T1+ (Toyota y Prodrive). Para los países de Latinoamérica, la transmisión de los resúmenes de las etapas y todo el ambiente será llevada a través de las pantallas de ESPN y la suscripción de Star+. 
El equipo a cargo de las emisiones será formado por los experimentados periodistas Pablo Schillaci, Juan Fossaroli, Mauricio Gallardo, Bárbara Barrionuevo, Ayrton Ruiz y el piloto de Turismo Carretera, Martín Ponte.
“Es imposible que la expectativa no sea alta. Alta quizás al nivel de la temporada que tuvimos de la Fórmula 1 en las pantallas de Star+ y ESPN. Es una competencia que transmite exigencia plena, no solamente por la cantidad de días que significa estar metido en el Dakar, sino también por las aristas que se les presentan a los competidores: caminos, climas, mapas que cuestan leer y hasta sorpresas en la hoja de ruta. La zona también es fundamental a la hora de analizar el Dakar, que si bien no estamos acostumbrados porque nos hubiese gustado que continuara en Sudamérica, es una zona geográfica que nos permite tener un Dakar de arena, de desierto. El clásico del Dakar”, analizó Ayrton Ruiz, uno de los especialistas del equipo que cubrirá el Dakar por Star+ y por ESPN.
Las ilusiones latinoamericanas se encuentran principalmente en la categoría Motos, donde el argentino Kevin Benavides llega como campeón defensor y nueva incorporación del equipo oficial KTM. También tendrán opciones los chilenos José Ignacio Cornejo y Pablo Quintanilla, cartas del equipo oficial Honda HRC.
Otra categoría que llega con buenas chances de un título latinoamericano es la de Quads, donde Manu Andújar llega como campeón defensor y deberá enfrentar entre otros, a los chilenos Giovanni Enrico, segundo en 2021 e Ítalo Pedemonte.
