DRAMA REVIEW | Perfect Marriage Revenge (2023)

There’s an argument to be made about how Perfect Marriage Revenge had a perfect execution because it was a 12 episodes long drama and didn’t waste time for unnecessary conflicts. Everything took its right time and was resolved in a cohesive way with the characters development.

Both leads were compelling and had amazing chemistry, but the secondary characters were equally interesting to watch. All the performances outstanding and you can tell the actors are enjoying themselves in their respective roles.

On a story about a woman looking for revenge against her own family, this kdrama had a perfect balance between makjang and romcom. Making it an easy and fun watch. I highly recommend it!

The (short-ish) Review No One Needed Or Asked For ™ - Itaewon Class

This show really said "Murder, But Make It About Food," huh?

Plot-Wise

Park Saeroyi is our simple-minded character that is, ultimately, unmovable in his goal to take down his enemy, Chairman Jang of Jangga Co., as recompense for his dad being killed by Chairman's seed, Geun-won. Geun-won rightfully served his time, but the Chairman never paid for covering Saeroyi's dad's death up.

Character-Wise

Definitely loved our IC Fam. Park Saeroyi can't pick up social cues and is a very straightforward individual. His FL can't feel the difference between right and wrong and is tactless. Toni needed a bigger part. Hyun Yi is baby and Geonnie Seung kwon is also baby.

Shout out to Yoo Jaemyung tho. They definitely got the right guy to play a prideful, spiteful, abhorrent mortal enemy. And that bow at the end? He breathed life into that character.

Takeaway

The most dramatic restaurant rivalry ever.

You sat uncomfortably in the bed next to Im-bum, feeling extremely strange you cleared your throat you pulled the silk bedding closer to your chest as you looked at him.

Im-bum: Um...this...mind closing your eyes so I could grab my clothes and leave the room for you to dress?

Nodding you closed your eyes, as you pulled the silk bedding to your eyes allowing Im-bum to get dressed.

Im-bum: I'll leave...ill wait for you down stairs.

Nodding Im-bum left the room, as you quickly jumped to your feet getting dressed arunning down the stairs to see Im-bum standing there awkwardly.

Y/n: Listen...about last night-

Im-bum: Don't worry, no one will know or more importantly we'll act as if it never happened.

Y/n: Y...yeah.

Im-bum: I'll leave you in peace then. He spoke, as he collected his things heading for the door when you ran up to him grabbing his hand in yours. Im-bum turned to look at you, his hand now holding yours in return, waiting for you to say something.

Y/n: Listen...about last night...

Im-bum: Yes.

Y/n: I...was it really that bad? You asked, as you looked up at him through your messy hair.

Im-bum: No. But with our history...i-

You cut off Im-bum, as you kissed him passionately.

Im-bum: Y/n...what are you doing? He asked, as he pulled away.

Y/n: Do you really think last night was a mistake? You questioned, as you started to unbutton his shirt.

Im-bum: I...y/n...

Im-bum couldn't hold himself back anymore as he kissed you tenderly.

After a few seconds, Im-bum picked you up as you wrapped your legs around his waist. He carried you both to the bedroom as he gently placed you down.

Im-bum took off his jacket, then his shirt. You instantly sat up and removed your summer dress and throwing it to the ground. You kissed Im-bum neck, as you unbuckled his belt...

Time skip

Im-bum: Um...

Im-bum started then you started giggling, turning into laughter causing Im-bum to laugh too.

Y/n: O no...that...hahaha.

Im-bum: That was interesting.

Y/n: Do you think we jumped the gun again? You asked, as you turned from your laying position and turned that your chest was on his chest.

Im-bum: No, not at all. I've missed this...I've missed you. He said, as he ran his hand through your hair.

Y/n: I've missed you too. Clearing your throat, you placed a hand on his face rubbing his cheekbone with your face. But...

Im-bum: But what? He questioned, as he pulled you closer.

Y/n: I...i don't know. You said, sitting up while covering your naked body with the silk sheets. What does this mean? We got caught up in our feelings of missing one another, that we just-

Im-bum: I have no regrets. I don't know what this means, but we can figure it out together. Don't you think? He asked, as he sat next to you while placing his hand on your lower back.

Y/n: I'd like that. But...but what about your father? You wondered, as you looked down on the bed.

Im-bum: I don't care what he thinks. I'm not going to let him get in the way, of us this time...promise. He said, kissing your cheek.

You didn't reply, as you leaned into him. Im-bum wrapped his arms around you, as he hugged your body against his.

Im-bum: Well figure it out. He spoke kissing your temple. One day at a time.

Y/n: Okay. We should get ready for work.

Im-bum: Can't we stay a little longer?

Y/n: No. You replied, trying to get up when Im-bum pulled you back as he hovered over you. Im-bum...what are-

Im-bum: Shh...just enjoy it. He whispered, in your ear as he started to nibble on your neck.

Y/n: Im-bum...w...ahhh. You moaned, as he lowered himself on you. A...ahhh. You let out another groan, as you started sucking closer to your breasts.

One of your hands clung to his hair, pulling at it slight while your other hand squeezed his shoulder as you felt breathless. Im-bum, was thrusting into you fast and hard making droplets of his sweat to drip on you which you didn't mind at all. Pulling away slightly, you bit down on his shoulder that you were squeezing and pulled him closer wanting to feel him more.

Im-bum, had sped up even faster making the headboard of your bed hit the wall as he wanted to give you both more pleasure. It was so intoxicating that you didn't want to leave the bedroom today.

Im-bum: A...are you...o...okay...ahhh. He moaned, after he asked you. Y...you feel...so good. Y...yes, oh...ahh. He moaned yet again which made you go crazy at the sounds he was making.

Y/n: Y...yes. Yes...j...just like that. You whimpered, as you pulled him closer as you started sucking on his neck.

Im-bum: Mmm...ahh, yes. Babe...i...I'm going to...AHHH! He moaned, as he released himself. Im-bum was still trusting into you, wanting you to feel your orgarms as you finally snapped and released yourself too.

Y/n: IM-BUM, AHHH! you yelled out his name as you walls collapsed over him.

Im-bum breathed heavily, as he kissed your lips. Rolling off your body, he laid beside you as both your breathing was heavy.

Im-bum: T...that was incredible.

Y/n: Your amazing Im-bum. You replied, as you kissed his chest. Shall we clean up for work together?

Im-bum: You want to shower together?

Y/n: Yes. Besides I have a very big shower, it'll be fun.

Im-bum: Are you sure you don't just want to use my body, for shower sex? He asked, with a laugh.

As you finish putting on your jacket, you felt Im-bum's arms wrap around your waist.

Im-bum: What do you say we go out for dinner tonight? He asked, as he kissed the skin behind your ear.

Y/n: Mmm...i...i don't know. You said turning in his arms wrapping your around his neck. I just...until we figure out completely what we're going to do I don't want anyone seeing us together. I...i hope you understand. Im-bum...i don't want you to misunderstand it in anyway.

Im-bum: What's there to misunderstand? Don't worry, if you want to wait for a while then we can wait. He replied with a smile, giving you a kiss on your lips. We can have dinner here tonight, we'll get something on the way back here...if it's okay if I stay the night again.

Y/n: Of course. You might want to bring some of your stuff over her to keep just in case. We can put some of your clothes in the closet, an extra toothbrush this side...whatever you want...that's if you want to. You said, as you fixed his jacket.

Im-bum: I think after what happened between us, it wouldn't be that strange.

You started blushing, at what Im-bum said. He laughed at your flustered form, as he kissed your temple and took your hand in his.

Y/n: We'll just have to go our separate ways near the hospital.

Im-bum: Okay.

"Bu topraklarda 600 yıl önce insan olmayan canlılar yaşıyordu. İnsan yiyen sayısız canavar. Ama artık, tüm canavarlar yok oldu. Ben hariç..." diyerek başlıyor. Dizi size hiçbir bilgi vermeden ilerliyor. Kim kimdir, ne nedir, ne zaman başlıyor, neden başlıyor hiçbir şey yok.  

Özet olarak, sayısız hayat boyunca onu canavar yapan canavarı bulup öldürmek için peşinden koşan bir canavarın hikayesini izliyoruz. Dizi bunu en başta söylemiyor ben söylemiş olayım. En azından bunu bilerek izlerseniz bir nebze içine girmeniz daha kolay olabilir. Üstelik inanmazsınız spoiler sayılmaz. Bu yaratığımızın ismi Bulgasal ya da cinsi mi diyeyim günümüzde kullandığı isim Dan Hwal (Lee Jin-Uk). Ona da bir miktar üzülüyorsunuz. Doğduğu andan itibaren lanetleniş, insanlar tarafından dışlanmış, hırpalanmış. Onu lanetleyen canavarı öldürüp, laneti ortadan kalmak istiyor. Canavar olmak istemeyen bu canavarımızın öldürmeye çalıştığı canavar ise günümüzde reenkarne olmuş normal bir insan.

Bu insan önceki hayatlarından bölük pörçük anılar hatırladığı için daha önce peşinde olan canavarı biliyor ama kendisinin canavar olduğunu yani ilk hayatlarını ikisi de hatırlamıyor. Her yaşantısında çok küçük yaşta önceki hayatlarına dair bilincini geri kazanıyor. Bizim izlediğimiz hikayede ise Min Sang-Un(Kwon Na-Ra) olarak karşımıza çıkıyor.

Hikaye ilerledikçe bütün kuyruklar birbirine dolanmaya başlıyor. Etraflarındaki herkes geçmiş hayatlarından onların yanında yöresinde olan insanlarmış meğerse gibi alt hikayeler çıkıyor. Aslında bu hikayeleri beğendim. Dizi her ne kadar kör kuyularda dolansa da, yan karakterlerin diziye dahil olma çizgileri güzeldi. Oyuncular oldukça başarılıydı. Hikayedeki saçmalıklar ya da anlamsızlıklar çok göze batmıyordu. Yalnızca benim için bir tık kasvetli bir diziydi.

Özetle; iyinin kötünün birbirinin kıllığına girdiği, iç içe geçtiği ketum bir diziydi diyebilirim. İzlenmeyecek kadar kötü değildi, bir sürü daha güzel dizi varken sıra gelirse izlenebilir.

Perfect Marriage Revenge

This series is based on the webtoon with the same name. I read the webtoon before watching the series and I must say that I liked the adaptation. It didn't drag the situations, the changes they made worked and I liked the story line.

I liked this series.

Sinopsis: Basado en el famoso webtoon homónimo, Itaewon Class cuenta la historia de Park Sae Ro Yi (Park Seo Joon), cuya vida se ha puesto patas arriba después de que lo expulsan de la escuela por golpear a un matón y su padre muere en un accidente. Siguiendo los pasos de su padre, abre un pub llamado "DanBam" en el barrio de Itaewon y, junto con su gerente y personal, se esfuerza por alcanzar el éxito y mayores alturas.

Inspirador, impactante, adictivo, reflexivo, entretenido, motivador. ¡¡Lo vería mil y un veces!

Empecé viendo este kdrama sin ver ningún spoiler y sin releer la sinopsis para permitirme sorprender y vaya que lo hizo.

Itaewon Class es el kdrama del que todos hablaron en el 2020 y creí sobrevalorado, pero no me arrepiento de no haberlo visto antes y ahora leerán el por qué. La mayoría afirma que es una kdrama muy bueno y lo recomiendan por su historia inspiradora; de tantas veces que leí lo mismo sobre Itaewon Class, llegué a pensar que estaba sobrevalorado, pero también pensé que algo bueno debía de tener para que mucha gente lo amara tanto. “Inspirador” fue la palabra clave que me hizo esperar para verlo. Sí de verdad cumplía lo que comprometía, quería guardar este kdrama en mi watchlist para verlo cuando más lo necesitara. Ese momento fue a inicios de enero y fue la mejor decisión de enero, eso puedo afirmarlo. 

¿Las actuaciones? Brillantes.

¿Los personajes? Fantásticos.

¿La historia? Adictiva.

¿El mensaje? Inspirador.

¿El guión? Majestuoso.

Lo que más me sorprendió fueron los protagonistas, tanto la protagonista femenina como el protagonista masculino. Ambos fueron los personajes más complejos y mejor desarrollados de la historia. Jo Yi Seo es especialmente distinta a cualquier otra heroína a la que estamos acostumbrados. Es sarcástica, fuerte y presuntamente sociópata. Un personaje muy refrescante.

Park Sae Ro Yi es un personaje persistente, tenaz, con convicción y siempre fiel a sus ideales. Un personaje de lo más admirable con el que logras empatizar desde el inicio y no puedes evitar sino desear lo mejor por él hasta el final.

[SPOILER ALERT]❗❗❗

Personalmente me encantó la química entre Park Seo Joon (Park Sae Yo Ri) y Kim Da Mi (Jo Yi Seo). Era mi pareja preferida y de verdad quería que se quedaran juntos, y dado que no había leído ningún spoiler realmente no sabía con quien iba a terminar Sae Yo Ri. Creo que lo que dijo Yi Seo al final realmente tiene sentido, tienen un carácter muy diferente pero tienen una cosa en común, no conocen la calidez de las personas. Ambos se aman mucho, lo demuestran con palabras, lo demuestran con acciones, lo sienten con todo su corazón, pero no son ni serán la típica pareja que actúa cariñosa todo el tiempo. Están en modo de negocios cuando están en el trabajo y en modo pareja cuando salen.

Un excelente bonus que le añade valor a la historia es la inclusión de un personaje de color y un personaje trans. Estos personajes también tuvieron sus momentos y de igual manera entregaron un bonito mensaje con sus historias. 

Algo que me encantó infinitamente, fue el OST. Cada canción queda perfecta con la escena. Menciones especiales a Start Over de Gaho (motivadora) y a Sweet Night de V (consoladora). Absolutamente fascinantes canciones.

Si están buscando una historia impactante, entretenida, motivadora e inspiradora, Itaewon Class es EL kdrama.

Tiredly I make my way out of the room and towards the second floor, where all the rooms we attend our clients are. I stop for a few seconds in front of the door before I make my way in - just one more - and besides, joon is a big softie with me.

Dance is what makes me feel life. Is what keeps me alive and walking forward. It's like breathing for me.

When I hear the sound of a melody, my body instantly moves with it as if I'm dancing with it, not for it. My mind is no longer a prisoner of my nightmares and I can finally feel free, like this is exactly what I am supposed to be doing.

When my class is over, Eun ji my dance teacher praise me for dancing so beautifully fluid. I thank heavens everyday for her.

When I first came here to Seoul, she was the only one who helped me. Eun ji has been a dancer for 20 years now, she and her husband have a dance studio for classes and they teach all kinds of people.

They were the only ones who accepted me with all my background. They also gave me a place to stay when I didn't have one, and even helped me find a job but, the club was the only place someone like me could be accepted.

- it's been three years already! - Eun ji exclaimed. Her eyes on me as she talks. - I know you think your not ready Jimin but, me and Cha really want you in the studio anniversary celebration.

I knew this was coming. Every year on the Studio anniversary, they held a big celebration with all the dancers and groups they've been teaching. I never participated because I wasn't ready, the fear of disappointing myself with a performance in front of so many people would always make me denied her invitation.

- I don't think I'm ready ms. Ji - I said as look at my feet, not being able to look at her face as I denied her again.

- Jimin I know what you think, but if you keep doing this to yourself you'll never be able to grow - she said and I felt her put a hand on my shoulder - I'm getting older Jimin, and I want to see you shine in that stage, I have no children of my own and you have been like a son to me and Cha.

I look up at her.

- please, think about it.

With a sad smile she leaves.

Her words clutch to my mind for the next few days. I've always wanted to be on stage, but my fears and anxiety hold on me with claws while laughing at me.

I'm not ready. I keep saying, trying to comfort myself in any way possible before i make my way to the manager office.

On my way to the club he called me and told me I had a special request. Special client. Tonight I'll accompany a CEO in a small business dinner, at a fancy restaurant. The only time I've done this before was a year ago, and it did not end well.

Business man are also assholes.

I knock three times before I come in.

- you called me sir - I say.

He turns from his computer and takes off his glasses as he looks at me from his desk.

- you have a vip client tonight - he says - there is only two reasons I called you, number one being the vip client situation.

- oh.. is he new? - I ask.

- yeah but that is not the only thing.... - he says looking around his desk - you'll be in a room with big, big people, important people, extremely influential people.

It makes me wonder who they might be and at the same time makes me uneasy.

- so make sure you serve your client well and... - I already know what he's gonna say - do your little thing and grab a few new ones too.

I knew it. The sight that escapes my mouth doesn't go unnoticed by him, he gets up annoyed and comes at me. I gulped as he stands behind me as I was sitting in front of his desk.

His hands on each side of my shoulders completely cornering me, last time someone said something he didn't liked the boy was beaten up so bad he had to go to the hospital. To say I was scared was an understatement.

I gasp out of shock and pain when he grabbed my neck, his breath hitting my ear as a chill run down my spine.

- you are my slave, so you do what I say or else... - his grip tightens on my neck and tears start to form in my eyes - so if you want to stay alive treat our client very, very... well.

He lets me go. As the air fills my lounges I cough reaching for my neck, my eyes falling on the men in front of me who looks at me as if I'm nothing.

As if I'm just a slave boy.

- the second reason is because of what happened last time - he says, making his way to sit behind his desk again - make sure that doesn't happen again, even if means your ass will get filled.

I stand up, not wanting to hear any of that shit anymore. I hear his laugh as I storm out of that office, anger filling me so hard I smashed the wall besides me.

The pain in my hand being the only thing that brought me back, soon I was blinded by my tears as I grabbed my hand that was now bleeding.

I cried.

The show must go on. I put on my best clothes as I pushed my feelings away. I have no time to waste pitying myself.

I have no choice but to keep going, I feel a wall suddenly growing around me as I feel so empty. The want to come back home to my mother and cry while she embraces me, almost makes me cry again.

I cursed myself for punching the wall so hard, now I can't bearly do my make up. As i manage to do a decent job I look myself in the mirror being satisfied with it.

One last breath.

I run my hands through my hair, as i build up the strength to keep going.

The show must keep going.
