~The Broken Soul~
Tumblr media
Masterlist
A/N: This was requested by Sp44wn on AO3. Thank you for another request! I really liked this idea. ♥️
Summary: T'Challa tries to convince Erik to let him help him heal the wound caused at the end battle.
Pairing: None. Warning: Angst, mentions of death & trauma.
This was the moment Erik had prepared for his whole life. The moment where death and karma decided to both finally take him away from the world that he had done so much wrong to.
Killing, stealing, hurting, betraying.... he was finally paying for it and he was ready.... well.... that was what he had taught himself to think from a young age. Inside he was still the scared little boy that had lived his whole life in misery. He never meant to turn out the way he did, but years suffering from trauma and revenge destroyed his innocent side. The hatred was all that was left in him and he knew he would never be able to get free from its hold.
"We can still heal you...."
"Why so you can lock me up? Nah. Just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, 'cause they knew death was better than bondage." He hissed, trying to pull out the knife that had planted itself between his ribcage and heart during their fight.
"Think about this real good, N'Jadaka." He could hear his father speak to him through the blood droning in his ear and he teared up. He wanted to die, he wanted the pain to end, he wanted to be reunited with his father, but he also didn't want to disappoint him by giving up so easily.
He had trained hard for this.... and he failed.
"Erik, perhaps we can still rearrange something.... I know my father did wrong, and it caused him to create something way worse than he feared, but we don't have to end up the same way our fathers did. Take my hand and we will end this cycle." T'Challa held out his hand, hoping the stubborn man would let go off the knife and take it. However the time it took for the man to make a move scared him.
He was scared he would let himself die, and honestly, Erik thought about it, but then his father's words would echo through his mind again. 'Think about this real good, N'Jadaka.' What did it mean? To Erik it sounded as if his father wanted him to live and learn to enjoy life and a part of him wanted it....
Though, a part of him just wanted to pay for what he had done as well. He never regretted standing his ground and believing in what he believed, but the way he handled it and managed to get where was now he did regret.
"I know you feel guilty for what you have done and that means that there is still good left in you. Let's get you home and healthy again."
"I brought Wakanda in danger, I brought everyone in danger. I killed for this shit. I betrayed for this shit. The people hate me."
"We'll make sure you get the help you need mentally and physically, but you have to take my hand and stop thinking about everything you've done then. Wakanda will be able to forgive you for what you did." He watched the man with eyes of understanding, not judging him but rather putting the blame on his own father. This was a boy who grew up seeing only the bad side of the world and T'Challa wanted to change that. "And they will accept that you belong here now."
"I'm an outsider." He growled, hating to call himself that, though he knew everyone saw him as just an African-American assassin.
"No, from today on, you will be a rightful royal Wakandan citizen and anyone who hurts you will be punished by the Wakandan law."
"You promise....?" He looked up, finally pulling his gaze away from the beautiful sunset his father had once told him about when he was a young kid.
"I promise." He gave him a nod to clarify and carefully Erik took his hand, letting the king help him to his feet to bring him to the lab for surgery.
He didn't know why he accepted it in the end, but he wanted to live, wanted to show his dad he hadn't only put a monster into this world. He wanted to learn how to live, enjoy the good things in life.
Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad with the right help after all?

Hey! Can we get a Shuri x F!Reader fic, where the reader is mildly superpowered and had moved to Wakanda per request of the Queen after T'challa's passing to allow Shuri to have one trusted friend with her and she stays with her throughout Shuri's grieving period and fights alongside her and her people out at sea, earning herself the title of 'Hero' in the eyes of the Wakandan's despite not being one of their own, and of course, she and Shuri fall in love with eachother but they dont confess until before Shuri drinks the contents of her artificial heart, and before she goes she tells the reader she loves her incase the plant sends her into cardiac arrest and she dosent get the chance to tell her? Sorry for the long request.
Your the Only Friend I Need

*Spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever if you haven't seen it yet. You have been warned*
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Navigation | Who I Write For | Shuri Udaku Playlist | Also on Wattpad!
Summary: What the request said (Until I can make up a good summary)
Pairing: Shuri Udaku x Fem!Reader with Super-Powers
Warnings: mutual pining, mentions of death, grief, depression, friends to lovers, and eventually fluff at the end. Also not double checked but I'll have to get to that soon.
a/n: @ackroxia this is an absolutely great idea of a request tysm! And DW about it being so long it's perfect!
The king is dead. T'Challa is dead. It was hard for you to accept the news that your close friend is gone. Especially thinking of how the Queen and his sister are feeling due to his death. You have been meaning to reach out to Shuri but didn't know when the right time was.
She was your best friend. Of course, the right thing to do is bring her comfort but didn't know how.
Your thoughts were disturbed as you hear a knock on your door and you go to approach to see who's there.
You look through the peephole and it was none other than the powerful female soldier group known, as the Dora Milaje. You open the door and allowed them in.
"Okoye and Ayo. It's nice to see you both. What brings you here?"
"Hello Y/N it's nice to see you too," Okoye smiled.
"We are here by the Queens' order" Ayo answered.
Oh no. The Queen. It could either mean something good or bad.
"The Queen. What does she need? How can I be a help of assistance?"
"She wants you to come to Wakanda in order of comfort for Shuri due to her state of the Kings death."
"Of course my condolences to the king. And how's Shuri?"
"Not so well. She spends much of her time in the lab. Rarely gets out to socialize or eat."
"I can imagine the death of her brother and how it affects her. They were really close."
"Indeed they were. We need you to come to Wakanda."
"Of course. I don't mind staying a couple of weeks there to comfort Shuri."
"No, I'm not talking about weeks. I mean permanently."
Permanently? Living in Wakanda permanently? It sounds like a dream because you have been to the country before to fight Thanos and how beautiful it is but to live there permanently never crossed your mind.
"Permanently? Like I stay there forever, leaving all my stuff here and my home?"
"I know it sounds like a lot. But Shuri could really use comfort."
You stopped and pondered a moment to think about the choice you would have to make. Shuri is your friend. It feels like a privilege you are chosen as a comfort to be by Shuri's side in an amazing country.
You took a deep breath in and sighed.
"I will go to Wakanda. For Shuri."
"We will help you bring your stuff."
You then started packing your stuff in order to leave your home and enter your new one, Wakanda. After you had everything packed and head off to the ship waiting outside, just practically calling your name, you looked back at your home and how much you will miss it. But then you remember this is for Shuri, a choice you made. You turn your head towards it and never looked back.
Now you were on the ship settled in and waiting for you to arrive at your destination.
-Time Skip-
You had now arrived at Wakanda and were now in the citadel guarded by more of the Dora Milaje. You walked to the meeting room and where the throne is. The doors opened and there stood the most powerful woman known, the Queen of Wakanda, hence her real name Ramonda.
"Queen." You bow down in respect towards her.
"Y/N. You are a friend to Wakanda and part of this family. There's no need to bow."
"I know but my parents always taught me to respect my elders." I smile at her and she does too
She goes to hug me and I reach in. Her hug was firm but also soft. Once you pulled out of the hug, she put her hands on your shoulders and slowly slide to your hands.
"I thank you for coming to Wakanda. I'm sorry for the short notice, but I just want my daughter to be alright."
"No it's ok I understand. My condolences to you and Shuri about the king, your son. First your husband and now your son. I can't imagine the pain you are going through."
"Well here in Wakanda, death is not the end." She smiled sweetly and cupped my face.
"You are a very strong woman Queen, I always admired that about you."
"You are very sweet Y/N, I always loved that about you."
Your heartbeat happily at her kindness.
"Come I'll let you see Shuri."
You nodded and followed her to Shuri's lab. You forgotten how big it was and how much you missed it.
You climb down the steps and see a whole bunch of technology around you and hologram screens. Then you saw her, Shuri.
"Shuri, I have a surprise for you."
"I don't think I'll be interested mama."
"Why you haven't even seen it yet? It's a special someone."
Shuri turns around rolling her eyes until she stops when she sees you. Her eyes widened.
"Y/N?"
"Hi Shuri," You smiled.
"Y/N, oh my god why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
"Well um.."
"I had her come to my request. To comfort you."
"Wait you requested for her to come?"
"To stay with you permanently."
"What? No mama, no you can't do that to Y/N. She can't be here because you want her to, what about her family, her home?"
"Shuri it's ok. I wanted to come here. I chose to. For you."
"But..." Shuri sighed.
"You need someone by you and I will do that." I interrupted her and held her shoulder. "I don't care if I have to stay in Wakanda for the rest of my life. I just want you to be ok. That's what matters to me""
Shuri looked down. She felt guilty that you're willing to leave your home to stay in Wakanda with her. She never had someone be her first priority before, especially you.
"I appreciate it Y/N. Thank you so much "
"Now you see why I wanted her to come here Shuri" Ramonda smiled at Shuri.
"Yes mama" Shuri laughed and you smiled too.
"I'll let you two be," Ramonda said as she left the lab.
You both look as the Queen leaves the lab and then turn to each other and smile.
"Do you want me to show you your room?"
"Yeah of course."
You both laugh as you leave the lab to see your new room. When you both arrived it was beautiful. The windows were big enough to see over the city of Wakanda and the night sky with many stars. You were able to put your luggage in and soon be able to decorate it the way you want. You and Shuri just spend the rest of the day talking and hearing how she's doing with the passing of T'Challa.
The first night of Wakanda has been comforting and soothing. The guards had given you comfort clothing, clothing of their culture, and sandals. The food was just immaculate with the seasonings put into it.
When you first took a bit of the food, your eyes widened. Shuri taking a sight at this laughed.
"Is it good?"
"Good? Amazing! Why didn't I have some sooner?"
You both laugh and continue eating.
After eating, you went to take a nice steamy hot bath and just sighed at the calm and relaxing experience. After you were done, you put your pajamas on and were heading to bed. You went to Shuri's room and knocked on the door. Shuri went to the door and opened it. She smiled when she saw you.
"Hey Y/N"
"Hey, Shuri I just came to say goodnight."
"Well, goodnight to you. And thank you for choosing to stay in Wakanda. " She went and gave you a hug
"Or course," You embraced the hug. "Anything for you."
"I know you probably miss your home and family."
"I do but I can make this my home and find my new family here." You smile
Shuri smiled as well. She was lucky to have a friend devoted as you, especially moving to a whole new country.
"Thank you really. Have a goodnight."
"You too Shuri."
Shuri closes her bedroom door and you walk back to your room. You close the door behind you and go to the window. You take a look at the city with lights in buildings, majority dimmed and majority turned off. You felt fortunate that you would be seeing this view every night from now on.
You walk to your bed and settle in under the blankets. You look up at the ceiling and sighed with a smile on your face.
Maybe staying Wakanda for a long time wouldn't be so dreadful after all as you thought.
Let me know if you want to be tagged in part 2 and 3!

Rainy days in Wakanda always brought with them nostalgia. Droplets pelted the grass in your garden as you sat perched by your windowsill, admiring the fall. The hammering rain remedied your mind, bittersweet memories playing on an extended loop. A necessary distraction from your existing reality. It was not heavy enough to be deemed a storm, there was no thunder, no lightning, but it had the same lasting effects on your mood.
Rain made you miss her. You missed her smile, her laugh. You longed to feel her lips against yours again, craved the wistful sensation they filled you with that last night she spent in your quarters.
She'd come to say her goodbyes. She was with Shuri moments before, collecting her things and being reunited with her father's car. You thought she'd leave without a word, seeing as your time together was barely enough to be considered anything. Stolen touches in the presence of your siblings, magnetic fingers ghosting over one another. A push and pull that never got the chance to connect, not completely.
You two would lock eyes in your sister’s lab from a distance, using yearning stares to convey what your words could not, what you wouldn't allow them to.
At the time she wanted more than you saw yourself able to offer, so assuming she would leave Wakanda without saying goodbye to you was an idea you made yourself comfortable with. Until she showed up that night while you sat on your balcony, nursing a cup of tea, and letting your mind spin on with thoughts of turmoil and loss.
~
“Heavy is the head.”
You whipped up at the sound of her voice, not believing it at first. Her warm half-smile brought you back down to Earth and out of your own thoughts. Seeing her, just merely looking at Riri standing in your doorway had your chest tightening and heart sprinting.
“I am afraid you must be thinking of my brother. T’challa is king, his head is heaviest.”
She chuckled slightly, moving closer onto the balcony. “I don't think Ima ever get used to how gorgeous it is here. You hear the stories, but they don't do it justice.”
Brown eyes marveled at the city lights before them, while you marveled at how the gleams illuminated her face. It was difficult to admire the city when someone else stole all of your attention just by being.
“Wakanda will miss your presence.” You sipped your tea, averting her eyes when she finally turned to face you.
“Here I was thinking y’all wanted me out for good. I mean I'm technically the reason all that shit went down anyway.” Her nervous laughter pulled your eyes to hers.
You stood, walking over to her, studying her features. You could see the guilt swirling in her pupils, how it lodged itself deep inside of them, darkening their hue. “None of what happened was your fault. No one blames you. You are a victim just as we all are.”
“I blame me.” It was a whisper, and it rocked your core. A flick of anger ran through you at the thought of her feeling even the slightest bit guilty, anger at those who created it. Everyone who made her think this way about herself was taken care of. It eased your conscience some, knowing she would not be bothered again. Yet you still wished there was something you could do to absolve her of the feeling, anything.
You tilted Riri’s chin with your index finger and she flinched. You’d hardly touched her since she'd been in your country, not in the way you wanted to. So her shock was warranted. The two of you were aware of the brewing emotions when in each other's presence. You liked it, wanted more of it, but you were also aware of your older siblings, and their overprotective natures.
You knew it would only intensify now with your mother gone, and being with Riri, or anyone for that matter, would make them wary.
“I want you to stop that. I do not blame you, and I will not have you leave me believing that I do.”
Riri gulped. This was the closest you'd ever let her be to you. “Leave you?”
“Are you not preparing to leave me? Isn't that why you've come? To say goodbye?”
She shook her head, stepping out from under your touch. “Nah, I'm leaving Wakanda. You made it clear you didn't want this, don't do that.”
She was wrong. So very wrong. You wanted her more than she knew, more than you yourself understood. But you couldn't have her, and she didn't get that. “Do what?”
“That. Don't act like I'm breaking your heart or some shit. You don't wanna be with me and that's cool, but don't make me feel like it's on me. I told you how I felt from jump, don't put this on me. Please.”
“It is not on you. Nothing is on you, I need you to know that, now and forever.”
She backed away slowly, frustration fueling her antics. “Ugh! You know ion like when you do that. You're making it seem like choosing to be with me is some huge task, like you want to but can't. It's either you do or you don't. You're in your own way, this don't got nothing to do with Shuri, or T’challa. It's you. You don't want this, you don't want me.”
“Riri I–”
“Nah. I came to say bye, like you said, and Ima do that. Cause you deserve that at least, and I'm big on treating folks in the way they deserve. So goodbye, have a nice life.” She tried to step through the door, but you grabbed her wrist, igniting that familiar pull. That magnetic buzz you two knew well.
You spun her to face you and her eyes widened. She attempted to tug away, she was quite adamant about it, but your hold was firm. You wouldn't let her walk away from you. Not this time.
“Don't.” She did not mean it. You’d grown to learn her tones, and this one was a plea not for you to stop, but one that begged for continuance. Riri wanted you to take it all the way, and her beautiful gaze told you as much.
When you kissed her the sky roared, shaking your world. It pelted the two of you with endless showers. You cupped her wet face amidst it all, pulling her closer, kissing her deeper. Passion seeped from within her into you, and you absorbed it all like your clothes did the rain. Soaking up all that Riri was had been a long-standing desire of yours for the last two months, and now you were drowning in it; you were drowning in her.
The rain still poured as you pulled away, but neither of you seemed to mind, neither of you seemed to notice. You were too caught up in the heat of each other as you watched the lightning reflect in her striking eyes. “To hell with my siblings. I do know what I want. I want you, Riri Williams.”
She nodded, kissing you again before tugging you into your room and ridding your bodies of your soaked clothing. You touched her everywhere that night, making up for lost time. It was something you both needed, something to solidify everything you felt for each other. No one had ever made you feel the way Riri did, and you needed her to know that.
Rain pounded at your windows, desperate and eager just as your lips were roaming her body, and it only added to the intensity floating inside your bedroom. You’d never felt more whole than in that moment.
“I am going to miss you terribly. Going to miss this.”
She put her bra back on before slipping into one of your tops. She kissed you then, less forceful now, still as heated. “I think you'll be aight for a couple of months.”
“Months?!?!”
Her laugh was loud and it roared from within her like the thunder outside. “Damn, I barely got my clothes back on yet and you already feening? Was it that good ma?”
You tossed a pillow at her and she gasped. “Shuri gave you Kimoyo beads?”
She held her wrist up, showing off the bracelet your sister crafted. “Good. I will be contacting you every day until I am able to see you again.”
“You real cute when you clingy, I like it better than you being detached and trying to ignore me.” You pulled her in again, pecking all over her face and she giggled. “But I really gotta go before Shuri comes looking for me and finds me half naked in your room. I been gone way longer than I said I’d be.”
Your eyebrows shot up as you were reminded of the risk you were taking. “You are right. She tracks me and watches me like a hawk. You should hurry.”
With one last kiss, Riri was out of your bedroom and heading back to America. And all you could think of was the way her mouth felt against every part of you, and how big your feelings for her were.
~
Every time it rained, your thoughts drifted, returning you to that night. That was your last time seeing her in person, feeling her, and you were suffering. You longed to be in her embrace again. Riri was a drug and your addiction only strengthened and grew incessant the more days you spent without her.
You’d kept your relationship a secret, fearing your siblings would not approve, especially now. At first it was thrilling, having something only you and Riri shared. And it was easy to conceal, being worlds apart.
But months of video chatting and vaguely explicit messages were no longer cutting it. You needed her with you, and it was something you were going to get. A plan hatched in your mind just as you heard soft rapping on your bedroom door.
You rolled your eyes. “Yes, I am awake. I am breathing. You may tell my brother that and you may leave me alone.”
“Who is to say I am not checking on your living status for myself?” Aneka stepped into your room then, grinning as she often did.
You spun to face her, sporting a bored expression. “As you can see, I am alive, and I am well.”
“Alive, yes. But you are not well. You have not been well since Miss Williams returned back to America.” She smirked when she caught your eyebrows shooting up, knowing she had you, but you were determined to prove her wrong. “What? Did you think I was unaware of your relationship?”
You deadpanned. “I have not been well since Shuri and T’challa decided I was a prisoner in my own home.”
“Ah, Princess, come on now. You are not a prisoner, they are only worried about you and want to keep you safe. As do I. We have all learned that we are not as protected as we previously thought ourselves to be.”
“Then why do I feel like I am a prisoner?” You challenged.
Aneka stepped closer to you, holding your gaze in that deathly intimidating way that she did. Despite her seemingly chipper demeanor, this stare she possessed, this daunting glare, it never failed to run your blood cold. The goosebumps on your forearms sparked instantaneously, like a knee-jerk reaction as she stood directly in front of you. Your breath hitched. “I can assure you, the life you live is in no way similar to the life of a prisoner, Princess.”
“Have I mentioned how unsettling it is when you stare at me like that?” Your attempt to keep the air light was acknowledged and she loosened her shoulders.
“You think so? I have been trying to perfect it, Ayo told me it isn't quite there, but I disagree.” She grinned. You respected Aneka a lot, and you respected her ability to shift from soldier to friend with ease.
You rolled your eyes with a huff, flopping onto your bed rather dramatically. “I'm glad you find this so amusing.”
“If you are so miserable without your scientist, why don't you make your case to go see her? I'm sure Shuri and T’challa would not mind you spending time with her, she and the Princess are friends after all.” You tried ignoring the buzz you felt at the words, your scientist. Riri was yours, all yours.
This made you sit up, a plotting grin hanging on your mouth. “Oh don't you worry about that, Aneka dear. I have that all figured out.”
“Now it is you who unsettles me, Princess. I want no part in whatever it is you are scheming. I will report to the King that you are awake.” With that, she picked up her spear and shifted out the door, leaving you alone to your own devices. Not a particularly logical thing to do, seeing as you had it in your mind you would be seeing your girlfriend soon. You and your devices would make sure of that.
•••
The Throne Room awakened memories you tried putting to bed. Months of avoidance, only for you to return now, reliving everything all over again. Gone was that homey feel it previously housed, in its place stood despair. Somehow the rain was aware of that. Crying skies depicted the emotions you felt being back here, your mood threatening to darken like the clouds outside.
It was quiet. No stirring apart from the gentle showers. Your brother was alone, as you hoped he'd be.
Stoic as ever, T’challa stood in front of the reinforced windows, palms tucked inside each other behind his back as he studied the foggy glass. You needed not to see his face to know he was contemplating, deep in his thoughts, swimming in them as he often did.
His whirring mind did nothing to conceal your presence from him. There was no doubt he sensed you coming before you even rounded the corner. “Do my eyes and ears deceive me?”
He watched you now, following your distorted silhouette through the glass as you strode toward him.
“They do not, My King.” His aura as intense as it was inviting, pulling you closer until your feet rested right beside his towering body. You joined him in his leisure, your own eyes falling to the streams of water racing each other down the surface.
"How are you?" His true concern buried deep under the question, and you answered as best you could, aware he was feeling similarly.
You bumped his shoulder with your own, grinning ever so slightly.
When he chuckled, it rumbled out of him from deep within. It was teasing, just as you expected. It was also comforting, cozy, washing over you and lightening your mood. “Have you come to ask me for something Shuri has said no to? If she has denied you, I am afraid there is nothing I can do to help you, Littlest Sister.”
He was bluffing and you knew it. Together, there was no negotiating with Shuri and T’challa. They worked as a unit to plot your untimely demise, as you were so fond of saying. Or rather Shuri worked, whilst T'challa merely followed her lead. The simple thought of your new ‘restrictions’ had your irritation flaring. No late night walks or drives alone, no venturing to the river without supervision, you had to be home at a certain time, no spending the night at your friend's.
Some were reasonable, you could admit that, and you understood their worry completely. But not allowing you to go shopping in the market without Aneka at your side was a tad overbearing. You were not a child, you could protect yourself just as well as they could. But once the two of them made up their minds together, that was final.
Which is precisely why you sought T’challa out alone. Of the two, he was easiest to manipulate. In Shuri's absence, you got what you wanted. She knew your tricks too well, having been the one to teach them to you. It was tougher for T’challa to say no to you and you took advantage of that.
“No. I have not seen Shuri today actually. Aneka was too busy, she could not cradle me in her arms like a baby and escort me to the lab.” You narrowed your eyes and his smile grew.
He tsked, deciding to play along. “That is too bad. I suppose since you have no supervision, I have no choice but to confine you to your room for the rest of the day, hmm?”
“I do not need supervision, Brother, as I've been saying for months.”
“Then what is it that you want? I am sure it’s something.”
Your gasp was dramatic as you clutched your chest, and it made him laugh again. “Do I have to want something to pay my Big Brother a visit?”
“Usually, yes. What else would bring you here, and have you address me as King, instead of what was it again? Oh yes, your jailer.”
You rolled your eyes, stomping your foot in the process. He still hadn't changed his stance, if he didn't see your pout and puppy dog eyes, you would be leaving here without the thing you came for. “Well now that you mention it, there is something I have come to discuss.”
“See, I knew it!”
“But! It is not for me, it's for Shuri.”
He turned to face you then, sporting a curious expression. Perfect, it was game time. “Well, I am sure you've noticed she retreats to her lab more often these days. You didn't hear this from me, but I think she sleeps there. It's worrisome. Not good for her at all.”
You embellished your concern, adding extra emphasis to certain words in attempts to keep his attention.
The two of you nodded in unison. “Yes, I have noticed this. You are correct, it is worrisome.”
“Right? I’d say maybe she should be the one constantly surveilled and not me, seeing as she's clearly losing herself in whatever it is she's working on over there. This new project of hers has truly been causing immense stress. It's not healthy, I think–”
T’challa snapped his fingers, losing patience with your rambling. “Your point, let us focus on that.”
“Oh yes! My point! The reason I am here! Well, I have a proposal that I believe can be good for her. Something, or rather someone, who can assist her, someone who gets her. A person who thinks similarly to the way she does.”
“And who is this person you speak of?”
A large smile spread across your face as you thought of her, her name escaping you coated in sheer adoration. Adoration you wanted to keep inside. But in order to carry out your plan, have it succeed, you would need to share it, reveal it only slightly to get your way. “Riri Williams.”
“Ah, yes. The American scientist. You believe she can help Shuri?”
You paced in front of him, your hands mimicking his behind your back. “Oh, I do, yes. They are both very intelligent, I believe they can help each other.”
“And how do you know this is something that either of them will want?” His eyes followed you, watching you walk back and forth.
“Well, I can assure you, Big Brother, this is something Miss Williams and I have discussed for quite some time. She wants to return to Wakanda and I would love– I mean, I think Shuri could benefit from her being here.” You cleared your throat and tried to ignore the smirk on your brother's face.
Your demeanor displayed the utmost confidence. You rocked perfect posture and spoke with worry-drenched words, but still, there was a storm brewing inside you.
Your heartbeat stuttered with every sentence, sweat dampened your forehead the longer you stood under T'challa's skeptical gaze. He knew there was something deeper going on than your concern for Shuri, but you had to sell it the best you could.
“Is that so?” That smile on his face told you he was not at all convinced by your sentiment. But you did not need to be convincing, you only needed his permission.
You nodded with a hard smile and faux desperation. He could not break you, you wouldn't let him. “Yes.”
“You and Miss Williams speak often?” Something in his tone dipped and so did your stomach.
“We are friends. Can I not have friends?”
T’challa threw his hands up and you exhaled softly, an indication that he would not be pressing you any further.
“I do not believe that this is entirely for Shuri, you’re not that selfless,” You feigned hurt and he laughed, scratching his beard. “But I will allow it. I quite like Riri, let her know she is free to visit whenever she may like.”
“You wound me, Big Brother. But I quite like Riri as well, and so does Shuri, obviously. Which is why I have decided to arrange her visit for this weekend.”
You beamed, and he squinted at you. “Oh, Littlest Sister, this is where you reveal the part of your plan I will not like, right?”
You bobbed your head up and down before speaking. “I was thinking since this is a surprise for Shuri, I could accompany Aneka on the trip? It would be good for Miss Williams to be greeted by a familiar face you know. She doesn’t know Aneka as well as she knows me. It would make her more comfortable.”
You threw your arms around him before he could protest, pulling back to gaze at him with the most gentle, pleading eyes you could muster. “You've already said she can visit, I just want to make sure her journey here is safe. This would make you my favorite big brother in the world!”
“I’m your only brother. And I did not agree to this. This was not the idea you pitched to me. No, Aneka can retrieve her on her own.”
“Please? Please can I go? I've been cooped up in this palace for months, I just want to greet my friend. Say yes, please?”
He shook his head in defiance. “No. And that is final. I will not risk your safety. Out of the question.”
Your arms were around his neck again as you begged, yanking hard and promising to take extra precautions. You felt T’challa relax under you and a devious smirk formed on your lips, dripping triumphantly. You’d won.
“Fine. But Shuri cannot know, do you hear me?”
You zipped your lips and locked them, tossing the imaginary key over your shoulder. Your smile still housed those doe eyes, and he shook his head.
“Go. Before I change my mind.”
“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
You skipped off then, humming to yourself on your stroll back to your quarters. Excitement and anticipation bubbled in your chest at the thought of seeing your girlfriend again. Your longing daydreams of holding her and kissing her would soon become a reality and you felt like you were going to burst.
•••
“Where you going? You look pretty.” The holographic image of Riri’s face examined your expression. You were on your way to surprise her, and it was getting harder to conceal your joy the longer you spoke to her.
You smiled with a light blush, getting lost in her eyes. “Oh, I’m just heading to Shuri’s lab with my babysitter.”
Aneka’s groan was loud enough for Riri to hear and she laughed. “Well, I miss you baby. I wish you were coming to see me.”
“I miss you too, my love.” Riri stretched and you bit your lip at the sight of her in only a sports bra.
When she caught your reaction, she smirked. “You miss me? Or you miss something else, ma?”
“I do not appreciate what you are implying here.” Your voice lowered to a whisper as you eyed Aneka cautiously.
Riri laughed again and the mere sound of it soothed you, making it exceedingly hard to be annoyed with her. “I got the texts to back it up too. Remember when you said, ‘I just want to feel your mouth on m-’”
“Okay! We’ve arrived at the lab, I will talk to you later! Love you, bye!” You swiftly ended the call, hanging your head in embarrassment. Riri’s candor would never be a thing you got used to, you’d found. It was something you loved about her, her openness, but it never failed to shock you.
Aneka turned her head slightly as she spoke to you. “If only the King knew what he agreed to when he allowed you to go on this trip. I told you to leave me out of it, now I have to be subjected to these displays.”
“Ugh! How much longer until we are there? Can’t be trapped in here with you for another minute.” You huffed and she returned her attention to flying the aircraft.
“I can turn it around, you know?” Her words rendered you silent, and you remained that way for the rest of the flight. It was easy to discern from the self-satisfied smirk on her face that Aneka was pleased with her ability to shut you up. You were too excited to see Riri to challenge her anyway, even if you were sure her threat was indeed false.
“We are here.”
Stepping off the Talon Fighter, each breath you drew dried your mouth out, nerves beginning to get the best of you. This was not your first time in America, but it was your first time in Boston, and your first time being in Riri’s world.
Your mind trailed back to when you’d learned of Shuri’s kidnapping the last time she was here, along with Riri. Terror grew inside you that day at the thought of never seeing your sister again. You feared for Riri too, though you hadn’t known her then.
Now it was impossible to envision not knowing her. She took up so much space in your life, and did so gracefully over the span of months.
Your anxiety grew the closer you inched to her dorm room, treading through the sea of students littering the hall. You stood in front of her door then, and you knocked, anticipation clawing at your throat. Trembling fingers fidgeted at your sides as you waited. Seconds felt like hours, ticking by slower than molasses moved, and you allowed the intrusive thoughts to trample your mind like a stampede of elephants.
Did your hair look okay? You’d gotten your Bantu Knots redone that morning, just for her. What if she hated them? What if months apart made her realize she was no longer interested in you? Was she even home? Did she meet someone else? Maybe that was why she hadn’t answered the door yet. Perhaps she was no-
The door swung open and a rather sweaty-looking Riri stood before you: eyes wide and lips parted as her chest heaved. Post-workout looked amazing on her.
She hadn’t moved, nor had she uttered a word, her slow blink recognized as shock. You found yourself at a loss for words as well, taking her in fully for the first time in far too long. The two of you got lost in each other's eyes, as you often did. Staring down at her ignited that pull you’d been craving for months. Your eyes flickered to her lips, and she nodded, still unable to speak. You knew what she wanted, you wanted it too, yearned for it, even if you couldn’t find the words to say it.
You leaned in, smashing your lips to hers and fireworks exploded at the connection. Kissing her awoke a hunger inside your sternum. Riri hopped up, wrapping her legs around your waist and you backed the both of you into her room before kicking the door shut. Her back was on the bed shortly after as you hovered above her, lips still locked. Breathing was an afterthought. You only wanted more of her, all of her.
“You lied to me.” She managed in between hard pecks to your throat. Your hands roamed her sides and her exposed stomach as you moaned into her touch. “Said you was going to Shuri’s lab.”
“I know. Surprise.” Your lips met her chest and she shuddered with a giggle. Her whimpers drove you mad and you tugged on her leggings. “Off.”
She obliged without a beat of hesitation, and you slithered down her body, leaving a trail of hot, wet kisses down her abs on your way to your final destination.
You rolled beside her, exhaling loudly and she laughed into your side. “You are radiant, do you know that?”
“You aight too, I guess.” You gasped and pinched her thigh, bringing forth a whine. When you shifted to face her on the mattress, you found her shiny eyes already on you. The sight warmed your insides. Feeling the heat radiating from her sweaty body pulled you in, that neverending attraction working overtime to weave you two together. Being by her side mended parts of you you did not know were fractured, and you felt whole again. Riri made you whole.
Words were still scarce as you lay next to her panting body, the dim light casting shadows over that face that stole your breath away.
“What are you thinking about?” Riri’s gentle voice was like a song, and you got caught up in its melody.
“You. How much I missed you. How much I love you.” You watched the words wash over her and she grinned, making your heart flutter in that way only she could. You’d said your first real ‘I love yous’ two months ago, and now you couldn't stop.
Riri sat up, pulling her knees to her bare chest, head resting on them as she watched you intently. “How are you here right now?”
“As I said, I missed you and I wanted to see you.”
“Right, but how are you here? Thought T’challa and Shuri had that ass on lockdown.”
You rolled your eyes with a faint smile. “I think I have proven that when it comes to you, I am willing to defy everyone and everything in the world.”
“Damn, okay Princess. So how long you staying?”
“I’m not. You are coming with me.”
You watched the confusion flash across her face. “To Wakanda?” You nodded and she scrunched her nose.
“I got class on Monday baby. I can’t just-”
“I will have you back here in time for your classes. Now, get dressed and gather your things. Aneka is waiting.”
Riri did as she was told, grabbing a bag from her messy closet, stuffing clothes into it. “So you flying me to another continent? Just for the weekend? Is that what I’m hearing?”
“Yes.” Your answer was matter-of-fact and simple, and you could tell she was having a hard time believing it.
She slung her bag over her shoulder nonetheless and waited by the door for you to lead the way. “Ion know how I be forgetting I’m dating a literal Princess. Like powerful kingdom and rich as hell type Princess. How do I forget that?”
You laughed, grabbing her fingers and lacing them into yours. The static shock did not cause either of you to jump, instead, you latched on tighter. “It’s because I am quite humble, what can I say.”
“Or I’m just so obsessed and in love with you alone, I block out all the unimportant stuff. Like how rich you are.”
You beamed down at her clinging to your arm. “I think I like that reason better.”
“While we on the subject, just how rich are y’all over there? Gimme like ballpark or something.”
Your chuckle was hearty as the two of you boarded the ship hand in hand and you shook your head.
•••
The trip home seemed to be shorter than the one leaving. Riri was all over you the entire time: sitting in your lap, kissing your face, whispering sweet nothings into your ears, and making you giggle with her corny little science jokes.
“Okay, okay you gon like this one. What do you call it when a biologist takes a photo of themself?”
Your eyes rolled and you sighed. “I don't know.”
“A cell-fie.” She laughed in that over-exaggerated way she reserved only for you and slapped her knee. It was your own fault really, you’d made the mistake of telling her science and humor did not mesh well, so it became her mission to prove you wrong.
“That was awful.” You responded with a fond smile.
She pushed off you and you attempted to pull her back. “Man whatever. That shit was hard, you just wouldn't get it. Shuri would laugh.”
“Speaking of my darling sister. She doesn't exactly know you are coming.”
Riri quirked a brow, and you heard Aneka huff a soft laugh at your confession. “What are you talking about?”
“Well… in order to get my brother to agree with you coming here, I was forced to tell a few white lies. One of which included me telling him I was bringing you here as a surprise for Shuri.” Your grin did nothing to shift her frown.
“And what does that mean for us? This isn't gon be like the first time I was here right? Because that was just, no. I ain't doing that ag–”
You reached for her hands, trying to ease her unrest. “No! Of course not. You would only have to spend some time with her in the lab. And given her current state, it is highly probable that she'll kick you out almost immediately. Then we may spend the weekend together. Trust that I have thought this through, mtuwam.”
“Okay… if you say so.” It was evident she was still a bit uneasy, so you kissed her lips gently, hoping to soothe her.
“Princess, we are home.”
Reentering Wakanda’s borders was an activity you could never grow bored of. Your home was marvelous, and being reminded of that was an amazing feeling.
Letting go of Riri’s hand proved to be a difficult task. You kept grabbing it and pressing kisses to her knuckles, prolonging your stay on the ship. T’challa was waiting to greet you as you landed and you made sure to stand a reasonable distance from Riri, though her body called to you.
“I see you have made it back in one piece. I must admit, I didn't think the odds would be in your favor, Littlest Sister.”
“Comedy does not suit you, Big Brother, I would stick to sulking on the throne if I were you.”
He laughed, then his eyes drifted to Riri perched patiently beside you. “So happy to have you back with us Miss Williams. I'm sure Shuri will be as well.”
“Happy y’all invited me. Wakanda is dope as hell, I love it here.” Her response was genuine and it filled your chest with pride. You met her gaze for a split second longer than intended and you couldn't help but grin. Damn those striking eyes of hers.
You cleared your throat, excusing yourself to help Riri settle in and T’challa nodded. “Give me your bag dear.”
It was a whisper soft enough only for the two of you to hear, and you hoped the gesture wouldn't seem too off. You were simply being hospitable. There was no way you were letting Riri carry her own bag, not when your hands were ready and available.
Your hands brushed at the exchange, longing fingers lingering lovingly. You felt eyes on the two of you as you walked away, but when you turned, there was no one.
“And the best part is my room is right down the hall. So you can sneak out at night to visit me. Or I can visit you, whichever you prefer.” You’d just gotten Riri settled in one of the palace's spare rooms.
She only beamed at you, pulling you in by your waist and you laughed. Her hands on your body just felt right. She was on her tippy toes then, kissing you long and deep, and you molded into her. Her fingers traced the hem of your skirt, climbing higher and higher up your thigh.
She shoved you onto the bed with force and you groaned. “Riri.”
“Just go with it.” She was on your lap soon after, wet mouth roaming your exposed neck as she created bruises that were sure to last.
You moaned, allowing your fingers to find her hips. “We can't.”
“You sure?” Her head was descending lower and you wanted her to keep going, every muscle in your body wanted to guide her, but you couldn’t. Not now, not with the Dora posted outside the room door, and not when you were supposed to be sticking to your plan. You knew T’challa would be checking in soon and you needed to head to Shuri’s lab immediately to avoid further suspicion.
“Ayo is outside, and T’challa could stop by at any time. I do not want to risk anything. Besides, we must go see Shuri now.”
Riri groaned but got up, once again allowing you to lead the way. You laughed at her and she stuck out her tongue. Bast, you had to be the luckiest person on Earth, with the cutest girlfriend on Earth.
“You sure Shuri’s in here? It ain’t usually this dark.” The two of you entered your sister’s lab. It was empty. Her playlist drowned out the sounds of her soft snoring, but they got louder the closer you inched to her.
“Oh, she is certainly in here. Griot, the lights please.”
The AI obeyed, lighting up the space to reveal a sleeping Shuri at one of the workstations. She was still in her clothes from the day prior, same lab coat too. Her curls were wild and frizzy from not being tied down and there was a small amount of drool on the side of her mouth.
“Yo, did she sleep here?” Riri walked closer to where you stood in front of your sister and you nodded. “Do we wake her?”
“In due time, my love, in due time.” You snapped a selfie of you and her sleeping form, mentally bookmarking it for later use. Your girlfriend shook her head next to you and your lips curved. “Now we wake her.”
Your finger met her cheek and you poked, but she did not stir. Then a thought struck you and you did everything to hold in your laughter.
“Shuri! You will never believe this, wake up! Tems has followed you back, look!”
This jolted her awake, and you took note of the candy wrapper stuck to the other side of her face. “She what? The love of my life has noticed me? Where? Show me!”
“Yeah, she did not actually notice you, but could you imagine? Tems is not thinking of you, dear sister. Just needed to wake you is all, seeing as you slept here again after you said you wouldn't.”
Shuri narrowed her eyes, looking you up and down curiously. “I would much rather sleep here than in the same place as my lying and deceitful sister. You cannot joke like that, you know how much I love her.”
“Right…” She pinched your arm and you yelped. "Ouch! What is your problem?!"
“Speaking of lies and deception, I will give you one chance to tell me where you went this morning, I lost signal on your Kimoyo beads for a few hours.”
Your groan was to be expected, and it did not soften her accusing tone. You knew Shuri would be tracking you, which is why you switched them off the moment you were outside the border. “I am not a child, you know. I can come and go as I please.”
“No. You cannot. Now tell me where you went and who you were with.”
Riri poked her head out from behind you after minutes of going unnoticed by your sister. She waved shyly with a smile. “She actually came to get me. Heard you was working on something that had you stressed, and your sister thought I could help.”
She reached up to pluck the wrapper from Shuri’s face and you swallowed your laughter.
“Riri! I've missed you! I honestly did not see you standing behind her. Sometimes I forget how short you are.” She pulled the smaller girl in for a hug and you snarled.
Annoyance bustled within you, the need to protect Riri taking hold of your thoughts and actions. “Hey! She is not that short. You’re one to talk.”
Shuri tilted her head, startled by your outburst, and your attempt to play it cool was rendered useless when you caught Riri’s sly smirk, clearly pleased with your defense. You fought your own smile, ignoring the awkward tension floating above the three of you. You prayed desperately for it to dissolve, fearing Shuri’s comments if it did not. “Okay then, that wasn't weird at all. Where is your sense of humor sister, geez? But anyway, Riri, yes I could use your help. I have not slept in my bed in days.”
“We can tell.” You retorted and she attempted to smack you.
“Uh yeah, how can I help?” It took nothing for them to completely zone out, wholly consumed by their work.
Though your presence was neglected soon after, the sight of the two most important women in your life bonding warmed your entire heart. You did not think it possible to love Riri more, but witnessing the smile she brought to Shuri’s face, seeing the way her eyes lit up, made you aware of how wrong you were. Loving her was limitless. It was so easy for her, lifting the spirits of others, being generous with her mind and time. She filled you with joy and pride, every ounce threatening to seep out of you.
You were staring, and you knew it, but it was not a thing that could be helped. Being so enamored with all that Riri was, you were oblivious to Shuri’s eyes darting between you and the young scientist you ogled across the lab.
Riri’s presence was enveloping like that, it toweled around you, muffling everything that wasn’t her.
“I think I'm going to call it a night. Going to actually sleep in my bed for once. Riri you are welcome to stay here as long as you like, I’m sure my sister would be happy to keep you company.” Something in her tone of voice sounded off, but it was difficult to pinpoint.
Riri nodded, turning back to the blueprints on the interface.
“Be safe, please.” Shuri kissed your head, smiling softly before leaving.
It wasn’t long before Riri took advantage of your aloneness, leaping onto you like a bunny. Her mouth was all over you, and you were a mess underneath her. She gripped your ass and you shrieked. “Riri, not here, we can't.”
“When you gon give me a chance to show you just how much I missed you, ma?” She kissed your stomach, pulling a tired moan from the back of your throat.
She knew just how to get you worked up, touching and kissing all the right spots. “Okay, fine. But it cannot be here.”
The two of you were giggling messes as you tiptoed through the silent palace. Riri pulled you into a secluded hallway, nipping hungrily at your jaw. Her tongue lapped over the bruises decorating your neck, amplifying your need for her. You smirked down into her lust-filled eyes. She would take you right here, and you were prepared to let her.
“I want you.” Her fingers were already under your skirt and you whimpered at the contact. Your heart came alive in your chest, batting against you from the thrill of it all.
A heated kiss muffled your moans as you writhed under her. “Shhh baby. You gon get us caught.”
It was difficult, and Riri was terribly skilled with her fingers. You were both gone off each other, so inebriated that the footsteps approaching the dark corridor went unnoticed. Someone cleared their throat and you jumped. Your stomach flipped, and your heartbeat revved into overdrive. Thrill melted away, dissolving into gut-wrenching dread.
You ripped your wet lips from Riri’s and turned to face the mystery person. The two of you were distraught and out of breath as Ayo inched closer. “Princess? Is that you? What are you doing out this late? The King–”
“I will head to my room now! No need to involve my brother!” The shake in your voice was noticeable, and her eyes widened when she caught sight of kiss-blown Riri tucked nervously behind you.
“Oh! Um, my apologies Princess. I was not aware you were not… alone. But please, head to your quarters. If I have found you, anyone can.” You tried ignoring her admonishment, but she was correct after all. Taking this kind of risk could have ended a lot worse, T’challa could’ve found you, Shuri. You knew better. It was reckless, but when Riri was in your head, thinking straight was a battle, a losing one.
She dipped her head, leaving you and your girlfriend alone. Your laughs were instant after, and you slapped your palms over each other's mouths. “Ooh, you in trouble Princess.”
“Stop it! Come on, let's go.” You tugged her to your quarters, fully intending on finishing what was interrupted moments ago.
•••
Waking up with Riri next to you was a feeling you needed to know forever, you’d decided. In the dark of the night, she'd tucked herself into your side, head on your chest as small snores escaped her. Being deprived of this sight, this warmth, for as long as you were was criminal.
She nestled closer and it just about brought you to tears. A soft kiss to her temple pulled her from slumber and she frowned, stunning brown eyes finding yours instantly. “You woke me.”
“With a kiss.”
“I ain't sleeping beauty.” She glared at you, it was so cute you just had to kiss her again.
Your chuckle was immediate as you stared at her arms, still wrapped around your torso with zero plans of letting go. “You are beautiful when you sleep, so I disagree. You're quite the sleeping beauty.”
“Corny.”
Rapid knocking at your door hindered your response and you panicked. It was far too early for Aneka to be checking on you. You leapt out of bed frantically with your sheet wrapped around your naked body, fearing it was one of your siblings. “Who is it? I am not yet decent.”
“It is just me, Princess. Thought I’d come to check on you a bit earlier, in case you needed help sneaking a certain scientist out of your quarters.”
You sighed loudly. “I don't need–”
“Do not lie, Princess. I am aware of where she spent the night. Your little run-in with my wife last night has made me privy to many things.”
You heard Riri giggle behind you and you huffed. “We are fine, Aneka. Your assistance is not needed.”
“Very well. Oh, and Shuri would like to see Miss Williams in her lab later today. Something about their project. And, be cautious, ndiyacela.”
It was unclear if Aneka’s concern about your relationship remaining a secret was out of love for you, or fear of losing her job. But knowing her, it could very well be both. When she left, you crawled back into bed, pulling Riri atop you, cradling her body ever so delicately in your arms. She tucked her head beneath your chin, meshing well with your skin there.
A puzzle, the pair of you were, you fit just right. Tender fingers massaged circles into her back, causing her to coo into your ear. If given the choice, you'd stay this way forever, making her frame an extension of your own.
“We have got to get up eventually, mtuwam.”
This caused her to groan and snuggle closer into you. “Don't wanna.”
“If we do not get up, someone will come looking for us. Most likely Shuri herself, if she's requested to see you.”
Riri held you tight, still refusing to budge. You had no desire to move either, having made a home under her warmth. But alas, like a wolf, you had to blow it down, leaving her bare skin exposed to the cool of the room.
Her little huff of annoyance was adorable as she shifted back to the side of the bed she slept on, and you got up. “So does this mean you won't join me in the shower? That is too bad. I remember how much you enjoyed the water pressure when you were here last.”
Riri’s head rose from the covers excitedly, tripping over the sheets as she ran into your arms.
After your shower activities, you and Riri found yourselves battling to keep your hands off of each other in the elevator down to Shuri's lab, touching her only enabled your growing addiction.
The lights were dimmer than usual when you stepped off, it was quieter too, no music or buzzing chatter of her team. Weird. There was always movement during the daytime.
“Shuri?” You called into the darkness, but silence greeted you. It all felt off; ominous, and you did not like it.
Riri tugged on your arm. “Ion think she's here babe.”
“Oh, but she is here… babe.” A shadow moved toward you and you squinted, eyes adjusting to Shuri as she stopped in your direct line of sight. T’challa was not far behind, face contorted into what you believed was meant to be a scowl. “See. I told you, Brother, if I sent word for Riri, our darling sister would be in tow as well.”
Shit.
Your eyes passed quickly to Riri, who seemed more confused than anything. You, on the other hand, were on the verge of collapsing. The drumming in your chest blared in your heated ears, blocking out the sound of Shuri’s ranting. T’challa had not yet addressed you, his eyes merely fanned you disappointedly, which somehow made it all worse. Shit. Shit. Shit.
“Answer my next question truthfully or so help me…” Shuri wiped her palms down her face with an exasperated sigh, thickening the atmosphere with the air her body expelled.
“Are you two,” She wagged her finger between Riri and yourself. “You two are… Bast, Brother I cannot even say the words.”
She was being theatrical, honestly. When Shuri got like this it was hard to get her to listen to reason, but reason escaped you, so either way you were screwed. You passed a glance at your girlfriend, whose eyes seemed particularly fond of the shiny floors. Every bone in your body wanted to comfort her, needed to reassure her, but you froze, your feet planting deep roots in the ground, prohibiting your movement.
“Littlest Sister, is it true? What Shuri has told me about you and Miss Williams? Are you two… involved? You wouldn’t lie to me, would you?” T'challa spoke at last as Shuri paced.
Involved? Involved made it sound so formal, so dated, like the two of you were in your forties. You were not involved, you were in love. Admitting that would only escalate things now though, so you bit your tongue and hung your head in shame. You had to hand it to him though, pulling out the doting brother card was almost enough to crack you.
Neither of you spoke, fearing too much the outcome. Riri’s discomfort buzzed off her and onto you as though it was your own. Not easing it was enough to fracture you again, undoing all the rebuilding you’d done in the past twenty-four hours. She stood silently, fidgeting with her fingers, intending on following your lead like usual, but you were all out of moves.
“Take her silence as an answer Brother.” Shuri’s unyielding glare made you flinch. Under any other circumstance, you’d find her behavior amusing, but her ability to intimidate had grown more effective after ingesting the heart-shaped herb.
You cleared your throat, finally gaining the courage to speak and you felt hopeful eyes on you, Riri’s eyes. “Why are you doing this?”
“Answer the question, liar.”
A laugh climbed your throat as Shuri spat her sentence at you, but you swallowed it. “And what is it that you presume I've lied about?”
Your question was only to gauge their knowledge, to see just how much you could twist your already existing string of lies before it snapped completely and forever.
Shuri tapped her chin dramatically. “Hmm, well let us see. Should we start with the original lie you told to get her here? Disguising it as a surprise for me,” T’challa nodded beside her, cosigning the entire ordeal. “But that one is more on you, Brother, for not catching it.”
“Hey now! In my defense, I was truly concerned for you when I agreed to Miss Williams coming here.”
“You were a fool is what you were. You fall for her tricks all the time, it's sad. I’m sorry, but it is.”
T’challa scoffed. “Can we please focus? I am not the one in trouble here.”
“I'm just saying, if only you had run this past me, instead of blindly agreeing, this could have been avoided altogether.” Shuri’s expressive hands spoke with her, just as frantic, just as accusing.
“Well–”
Your anxiety dissipated the longer you watched the two of them bicker, who the ring leader was, was clear as day. You passed a glance at Riri, discreetly squeezing her hand for a few seconds.
“Oh! Did you see that?! Let's get back to you deceivers, eh? Seeing the way you defended her when I called her short did not concern me much, it was odd, but not concerning. Now, the way you ogled her, that, raised my eyebrow.”
She paced some more, condemning you with each stride. “I knew that look, it’s the same look I sport when Tems uploads a new photo. But it was not quite enough, no. It could be explained away.”
Shuri stopped, regarding Riri’s puzzled exterior before turning her focus to you. “And that brings me to my next piece of evidence,” Her fingers lowered the collar on your button-up and you cursed under your breath. “Brother, what do these look like to you?”
He jolted to attention, clearly unaware his input would be warranted. “Um, I believe those are hickeys.”
“Hickeys.” The word rancid on her tongue. “I noticed them when I kissed you goodnight. Now how would my little sister get hickeys on her neck? They weren’t there the day before, but conveniently appeared when Riri arrived.”
“I saw you take her bag as well. Yesterday when you returned, you carried her bag, you may not have thought I saw it, but I did. Shuri, tell them.”
Shuri rolled her eyes at him. “Yes, T’challa saw the stupid bag. The point is we know about you two. We know everything. And there is more.”
“More? What more?” T’challa seemed just as perplexed as you and Riri, eyeing Shuri in anticipation.
She held up her wrist, displaying a rather incriminating video on her beads. T'challa’s gasp was as loud as it was comical. It was of the both of you, in the lab last night. Your mouth on hers, hands in places they shouldn’t have been. Your blush crept up the back of your neck, stretching across the span of your body. You felt it in your stomach, your toes, it even slithered itself into your mouth. Bitter and dry, and scarce of compassion.
“I needed to be sure of my suspicions, so I turned on the cameras before I left. What do you have to say for yourselves? Lying will not save you now, we have seen everything.”
“Everything.” T’challa repeated, waving his finger in your faces.
You locked eyes with your girlfriend again, communicating without words. “Fine. You've caught us.”
“I knew it!”
Shuri’s glower was a bullet of irritation, and she smacked T’challa in the head. “Of course you knew it, genius. I told you this before they arrived.”
“Right. You did, yes.”
Your laugh evaded you before you could stop it and you were met with the same look your brother received. “So you find this funny?”
You shook your head. “Sorry, no. This is all very serious. Serious allegations, serious evidence. Carry on.”
“How long?”
“A few months.”
She squinted. “How many months?”
“Seven.”
They both widened their eyes at your confession, and T’challa slapped his hand over his mouth, bewildered. “You have been lying to us for seven months?!?! So this started before you returned to America?”
Her question darted to Riri, and she waited expectantly for an answer. “Yes.”
Your brother shook his head, mirroring Shuri because of course he did. “You are too young to be involved with anyone.”
“Exactly. I forbid it.” Shuri threw her hands up as if her word was final. You refuted her statement with a quickness, under no circumstances did she get a say in your love life. Before you knew it, you were in a screaming match with your siblings, a rare occurrence, but you would not back down.
“You can't forbid me from loving your sister Shuri.”
The yelling subsided, three royal heads whipping around to face Riri. You had not expected that, you hadn't expected her to say anything. It was your mess, not hers. Your lies.
“Loving her?”
Riri stepped forward, gripping your fingers tightly, and for the first time, the shock startled you. “I love your sister. I'm in love with her. And if I'm speaking out of turn my bad, but forbidding us from being together ain't gon work because I’m not giving her up, not ever,” She observed them cautiously before continuing.
“Now I understand why there might be cause for concern, I get it, after what y’all went through, being protective is justified. But trust that I wanna protect her too? I want her safe, I want her sound, and I want her loved. I love her so much, too much, and ion wanna have to do that in secret. I don't wanna have to hide. Because your sister deserves more than that.”
T’challa was the first to wipe his tears. “Shuri, maybe we are being too harsh. They seem happy, hmm?”
“Was that rehearsed or did it all just come to you right now?” Her unrelenting glare was beginning to falter.
“Can't rehearse how I feel Shuri, I just… feel.”
Shuri's watchful eyes were on you, you felt them, but you only had the strength to focus on one thing, so you chose Riri. Her words rearranged every cell in your body, rendering you entirely and utterly speechless. Coherence was a thing you no longer knew as you stood dumbfounded, watching her, learning her all over again. For a moment you zoned out, forgetting where you were and how you’d gotten there.
“And what have you to say, Sister?”
“I-I love her too. She means everything to me. She is my person. I choose Riri, I will always choose Riri.” Gazing into her eyes felt different this time, more honest, more open; though they sucked you in all the same.
Shuri gagged. “You two are gross, but I suppose I can allow this, seeing as I trust you both,” She turned to Riri then. “But if you ever hurt her, and I mean in any way, I will create a virus so complex and otherworldly to infiltrate and destroy every piece of technology you own, including your suit. Maybe even while you're in it, zipping around in the sky. Then bam!"
She slammed her fist on a table with force, cracking it in half and you both jumped, blinking in disbelief. T'challa's snicker was muffled behind you and you shot him a look.
"Just because we are friends doesn't mean I won't demolish you in the name of my little sister. I will end you, in every way I know how. And trust that I know many.”
Riri gulped, clearly shaken by Shuri’s tone shift. “That's fair, I respect that.”
“Now I may not be as harsh with my words as my little sister, but I do agree with everything that was just stated. Do we have an understanding?” Your brother’s hands were on Riri’s shoulders and she bobbed her head. “Good. You two may go, enjoy the rest of your weekend, I will deal with Shuri. Make sure she calms down.”
You wasted no time, scurrying off and onto the elevator, wanting desperately to escape your siblings.
•••
The evening breeze was brisk, and it cooled your tea as you watched the city lights flicker on. The sweet aroma of her leave-in conditioner greeted you before she did, wafting deep inside your nose and clinging to your senses. You smiled when she emerged on your balcony.
“We suck at being in a secret relationship.” Riri sat in your lap and you gripped her waist.
“Absolutely horrible at it.” Her eyes were the softest you'd ever seen them, leaking with vulnerability and want. “Perhaps our love is not meant to be concealed, mtuwam.”
Her lips curved upward, delighted by your admission. “Say more words like that.”
“I want to love you in the open. I want the world to know you are mine and I am yours, truly and fully.”
“Damn. You real good at that. Almost makes me wanna kiss you.”
Her words made you scoff, as they were intended to, and she laughed. “Almost?”
“Kinda scared to do anything now after your crazy ass siblings just jumped me.”
Your own laugh bellowed out, causing her to dip her head into the crook of your neck. “If I am remembering correctly, they cornered us both.”
“And who got threatened with an ‘otherworldly’ virus? Me or you? You ain't tell me Shuri was kinda…”
“What? Insane? I'm sure I've mentioned this over my many rants about her aforementioned insanity.”
She glared at you, and you smirked. “Seeing it for myself was different. I ain't believe you for real.”
“That's truly something, I'm glad we are in agreement, but can you please kiss me now? Or do you want me to tell them you've been denying me, and you’ve hurt me?”
Riri grabbed your cheeks and scrunched her nose. So, so cute. “Shut up.” Her lips were on yours moments after, and her tongue was in your mouth. The kiss was rough, it was passionate, and it warmed your insides better than your long-forgotten tea ever could on this chilly night.
A clap of thunder gave you déjà vu and you two pulled away. The stars competed with the shine in her eyes, losing terribly. You were bathing in rain soon after as she pulled you in again.
When the showers became too much, you carried her inside, tossing her damp body onto your bed before getting on top of her and connecting your foreheads.
She giggled as she held your wet face in place. “Convenient how it always rains when we on that balcony of yours.”
“Perhaps it is all my doing. To get you out of your clothing of course.”
She leaned up to whisper in your ear. “You don't need rain for that baby.”
“Ndikuthanda kakhulu, Riri Williams.”
And she grinned, wider than ever, basking in the tangible feeling of said love. “Right back at ya.”

“I will be one of the greatest That is a vow, yeah, that is a promise Always wanted to be famous Just being real, yeah, just being honest
My haters gon' always be nameless Give them no cloud, I give them no power
Creators built different, they ancient Sooner than later, all will be ours…”
Iniko—“The King’s Affirmation”
King N’Jadaka Udaku of the Panther Tribe from the kingdom of Wakanda sat at the head table for the Congressional Black Caucus’s newly minted Pan-African symposium/dinner inside of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. The event brought together Black leaders from all over the world that wanted to take part in shaping their future with the influence of Black American politicians after the great disaster of the Infinity War.
The king sipped from a glass of lemon water with his young Executive Assistant Mpilo by his side, very much aware of the eyes dragging across his intimidating figure in the midst of seventy-five world politicians of African descent with their various entourages. Hundreds of women and men allowed to participate in the momentous gathering chanced looking his way to assess what kind of man he was on this rare occasion that N’Jadaka came to Washington, D.C.
He grew accustomed to being the rare Black man of real power surrounded by other Black leaders that tried to balance governing in the face of American neo-imperialism. The people in that room would’ve given up their firstborn child just to be in his presence, especially the representatives from Sudan and Ethiopia. Thanos’s ridiculous plan to snap problems away only created more dire ones on earth and Africa suffered as a result. The rise of new warloads and the loss of faith in democracy sprouted far and wide. Slavery, coups, and genocide had ramped up. Troubled nations in the motherland looked to Wakanda and not the U.S. for leadership, and that made N’Jadaka’s stay in his former homeland dangerous. The C.I.A. had a bench warrant of death on his head. Western powers wanted the king of Wakanda eliminated.
The Golden Jaguar sighed and pressed his hands on his thighs and flexed his fingers to offset the ribbons of tension coursing through him. Despite it being an all Black affair, there were enemy ops in the conference hall among them. The Dora Milaje and his Onyx Squad remained visible and dispersed throughout the perimeter, their smart-looking uniforms marking them as superior protection among the American security hired to keep unwelcome outsiders from trying to sneak an audience with the Wakandan king.
This attempt at a heavily-publicized gathering of Black international elites became a way for powerless Black politicians in the U.S. to rival and possibly supplant N’Jadaka’s influential UDC creation that made waves in under a year. No matter what power-to-the-people slogans were used to get them in office, Black American politicians were still…politicians. No different than their white counterparts that only worried about getting re-elected and stuffing their pockets with money, connections, and a fat board member assignment or consultation position on some corporations dime after retirement. No matter the pithy declarations about supporting the Black community he heard all evening, there were wolves in the room seeking access to more power. The white American power structure lit a fire under the CBC’s ass to put together something that would convince diaspora Africans to join with them instead of the Wakandans. N’Jadaka knew what it was and decided to participate anyway. Just to let the CBC know he was watching them closely and feigning diplomacy. America was a weak and decaying order. The bored king found solace in knowing he would be its demise.
N’Jadaka tapped his hand on the fancy table cloth. Mpilo took note of his mood and quickly checked his comm tab for the expected time of arrival for Yani and the children. The trip abroad had lasted two weeks, most of it spent at the United Nations in Geneva, and meetings in New York, London, and South Africa. N’Jadaka cancelled a trip to Saudi Arabia when one of the crown princes of an oil billionaire insulted him on a viral vid. He made an example of them by snubbing a much-anticipated visit there. Any form of anti-Blackness anywhere was swiftly aired out. Mexico, Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, and the Dominican Republic were already smarting from his public call-out of their treatment of Black people due to an increase of racialized violence targeting poor Black citizens in their nations. With Yani’s urging and Ramonda’s powerful voice as an ambassador, there was a rallying call against global femcide in the wake of the disappearance of so many people.
The U.S. didn’t let the great loss of citizens stop their continuing encroachment of resources and they took advantage of pumping predatory capitalism along. What could’ve been a moment of self-reflection, a shift in priorities, and a new way of being for the country as a whole was simply an opportunity to prey on weaker nations even harder. Their only hindrance in achieving more power was the rise of Wakanda under N’Jadaka’s leadership. He instilled fear in every nation that wanted life to go on the same way, and he also gave hope to those parts that saw a chance at progressive changes aligning with Wakanda. The western powers still gasped at his U.N. speech criticizing colonial apartheid in Palestine and Gaza. The gasp turned into full-fledged choking when he charged genocide co-signed and funded by the Americans. Once he pontificated on the historical similarities between Gaza, South Africa, and the Black American segregation of his own people, his War Dogs got wind of Mossad operations trying to penetrate Wakandan intelligence through the C.I.A.
Back home, the continent was split.
African nations that had long been ignored and left to suffer on their own benefitted from supporting Wakanda. N’Jadaka flooded their lands with tech support, agricultural advances, doctors, and a quick rebuilding of infrastructures with his Wakandan Humanitarian Corps that embarrassed the U.S.. At N’Jadaka’s urging, Azania and Caanan had stopped selling uranium, colbalt, and platinum to anyone outside of Africa in exchange for advanced agricultural expansion. Mining had ruined and polluted their lands with run-off depleting usable soil and water. Rapid climate change didn’t help them either and the neighboring nations were on the verge of famine. Wakanda helped clean their water, soil, and air for free, allowing farmers to produce a bumper crop that saved millions from starvation. Those who had been malnourished received the best medical treatment, and once snatched from the brink of disaster, Azania and Caanan were staunch allies for good.
Niganda and Mohannda were a different story, currying favor from the CBC leaders and complaining to the U.S. president that Wakanda was a global threat to sovereignty. The other African nations galvanized by the freely given help, threw all of their allegiance to the Wakandans, thus leading other unaligned African nations to fear him creating a United States of Wakanda to rule them all.
It wasn’t a bad idea.
He never acknowledged those types of concerns and just let the rumors grow to keep his enemies on their toes. His own father N’Jobu had flirted with visions of a united continent under Wakandan rule in his journals. Currently, N’Jadaka scrambled to replace War Dogs lost to the blip in order to keep his finger on the pulse of other nations.
“Princess Yani will arrive within the next two hours. They have crossed onto the Atlantic,” Mpilo said.
N’Jadaka nodded. He gave Mpilo a full-time job as his personal assistant since the loss of his father in the snap. The king had no idea the young man suffered that loss until months after the memorial honoring the lost ones. Mpilo did his work professionally until Yani brought the news to his attention. She recognized Mpilo’s family name from one of the palace attendants sending personal condolences to their staff on her behalf. When N’Jadaka questioned him, Mpilo broke down in tears in the king’s office. His father and two oldest brothers had vanished leaving behind his mother and baby sister. Barely an adult, Mpilo now had the responsibility of looking out for his immediate family. N’Jadaka terminated his fellowship and gave him a permanent job title as his executive assistant.
The king let out a sigh of relief. He needed to be with his family again. Normally Yani would be with him, but she was on her own global tour promoting her book, “The Wakandan Way of Birth”. Their children traveled with her and he caught interview segments of her in three countries. The world was enamored with the exotic princess. It was her first appearance outside of Wakanda representing the nation. N’Jadaka grinned thinking about the reaction of the Caribbean. The entire region went nuts finding out officially that an island girl had snagged the most powerful man in the world.
She promoted the book in St. Thomas first, and he hated not being there with her. She traveled to Jamaica next to visit the land of her father and paid her respects to their relatives there. In the midst of the new global normal, Yani’s book became a smashing success. All proceeds went to funding her midwifery scholarships to further the number of Black and Native midwives and doulas learning at the Wakandan birthing centers. The money allowed women to focus fulltime on their craft without monetary restraints. She planned to give more once she became queen because the palace allotted a salary for Queen Consorts that she planned to use for more income-based scholarships. Wherever there were Black and Indigenous women in need, Yani made sure they took priority over anyone else.
Everyone wanted their hands on the book. A Wakandan publishing company mass marketed the coffee-table sized manauscript, and they looked exquisite. The cover was created by a Birnin S’Yan artisan who made a vibranium-tinged dye that was threaded into a gorgeous royal purple and silver cloth overlay. The book had fifty full-page color photos that Yani spent months agonizing over from a total of 200. The cover photo itself deserved to hang in a museum. It showed a young woman holding her newborn daughter and they were both dressed in the vibrant colors of the River Tribe.
When the pre-release online sales skyrocketed, Yani made the decision to only provide non-online sales out of Wakanada through global Black bookstores. The international brick and mortar stores made bank with the flood of non-Black customers wanting their hands on something from Wakanda. Even people who weren’t even interested in childbirth or culture clamored to snatch up a copy just to get a glimpse of what Wakanda looked like from the inside. The first print sold out in one week.
The talks finally ended and the affair moved into a spacious outdoor dining area where a small jazz trio played music in a corner. The balmy weather made it comfortable to be outside and he took in a deep inhale of D.C. air.
Okoye and Ayo kept the pre-dinner rush to talk to the king at a distance, giving N’Jadaka time to snag a moment of peace. After ten minutes he shook hands and greeted caucus leaders, trying not to look annoyed at their requests for selfies with him. He obliged to be polite and to give an air of camaraderie.  Everyone wanted everyone else to think they had connections to him by how loud they talked or laughed with him. He knew the drill.
The hosts ushered his entourage to their dining seats near the front of another podium. No one pretended to be sly about sneaking candids of him with their smartphones.
“King N’Jadaka, your son is here to see you right away,” Ayo whispered in his ear.
N’Jadaka looked around and spotted Riki walking out from the museum with his personal Dora, Quamba. All the diners stopped to watch the prince of Wakanda walk through with his hands behind his back and his eyes searching for his Baba. Some people tried to snap photos of Riki, but all of N’Jadaka’s children wore necklaces that thwarted any cameras from getting clear pictures of them by jamming up electronics and flash photography cameras.
Riki looked too clean.
Yani braided his hair in the spiral style of his Wakandan ancestors, threaded with shells and beads that bounced around his shoulders. This week, Riki wore jade and black fingernail polish decorated with mini panther claws in bright gold which was the rage of young children in Birnin Zana who loved their local team that played a popular sport called ukudlala ngomlenze…leg play. It was a game that required balance, and intense leg flexibility as two teams battled each other on a low swinging wooden bridge that moved across a deep body of water. One member of each team took turns standing in the center of the swinging bridge as the other team members of the challenging team split up on either side to rock the opponent off their feet, without any of their own teammates falling over too. The narrow bridge swung higher and higher, pushing athletes to go against gravity, their exhausted limbs put to the test for long durations. N’Jadaka had promised Riki a trip to the national competition in the River Tribe territory once they returned home.
Riki’s black royal sash rested snug across his chest with the family crest blazoned on it. The boy was seven-years old and sprouting a bit of height. He was almost as tall as Sydette and would probably surpass her by the time he was eight. Riki’s eyes lit up when he spotted N’Jadaka.
“Baba!”
The boy ran past chuckling adults who admired the tailored royal suit and polished shoes. N’Jadaka held his arms out and his son jumped onto his lap and kissed his cheek. The happy king wrapped his child up in love.
“I’ve missed your busy behind,” N’Jadaka said. “Where’s your Mama and the girls?”
“Changing clothes. I couldn’t wait to see you,” Riki said, squeezing his arms around N’Jadaka’s neck.
“Good trip, Dumplin?”
“Yes. People went crazy for Mama and her book. I’m ready to go home though. I don’t like this country…the people here are so fake. They only like you if you’re rich or famous.”
“Hungry?”
Riki nodded and scanned the tables for the evening’s selection. He scrunched up his nose at the servers placing rolls and butter on the tables.
“Can we eat this food, Baba?” Riki asked.
“We have people watching the chef in the kitchen.”
The Udaku children had been taught to reject outside food unless their parents permitted them to partake. N’Jadaka had become cautious with poisoning and normally had his own personal chef make all of their food, but he opted to watch the American cooks this time around instead of turning down a plate. The head chef for the evening was a famous Black American from New Orleans who read that N’Jadaka liked food from that region and wanted to create a menu to impress the powerful king.
“Sit next to me,” N’Jadaka said, pulling out a chair for Riki.
Mpilo took a seat across from them at the circular table that seated twelve. Members of the CBC organizing committee greeted him then took their seats at other tables. The jazz music grew softer as guests took their seats all throughout the guarded space. A congresswoman from Philly took to the podium near N’Jadaka’s area and announced the arrival of Yani and Ramonda. Eager applause broke out and N’Jadaka stood up from his seat. He helped Riki stand in his chair so he could see his mother and aunt enter.
N’Jadaka’s Uncle Bakari escorted Yani and Ramonda together as Sydette and Joba walked in front of them wearing matching purple dresses with their hair twisted and pulled back with amethyst panther-shaped hair clips. Yani mesmerized the crowd in a shimmery emerald green dress that revealed all her curves. She styled her hair with extensions in an upswept fancy roll that denoted her status as queen-to-be. Ramonda had the crowd transfixed with her tall purple isicholo and deep purple gown. Uncle Bakari was dapper in his black tux. N’Jadaka’s grandfather Dante escorted Bakari’s wife Shavonne and they all made their way toward the front where their Dora Milaje escorts brought them to the king’s table.
Sydette and Joba dashed to him first and he picked up both girls and smothered their faces with kisses amidst their squeals of delight for being with him again. He put them down the moment Yani reached him and he couldn’t hide from the world his love for her.
His arms wrapped around her tight and he pressed his forehead against hers. The tense energy in his body drained down into the floor and he exhaled a long breath. Yani rested her arms around his massive shoulders, her perfume drowning him in memories of their shared bed and the last time they had been alone without the world watching their every move.
“Baby, I missed you so much.”
“I know. I couldn’t wait to get here and hold you.”
“You know these niggas is starin’ so we better play it cool for Ramonda’s sake.”
Yani giggled and pulled away from him. He kissed her hand and turned to Ramonda, giving his auntie double kisses on both cheeks. He hugged his grandpop next and finally showed love to his American aunt and uncle who raised him after his parents died. They all took their seats at the dining table. Yani sat at his right, and Riki, Joba, and Sydette took over his left side.
As the first courses of salads, soups, and finger foods were brought out, announcements were made. The head chef was brought out and recognized. N’Jadaka allowed the nervous man to take a picture with him holding up a plate of sausage gumbo with rice. There was special recognition given to Yani, along with a surprise plaque presented to Ramonda for her role as an ambassador fostering goodwill between America and Wakanda.
N’Jadaka caught up with his aunt and uncle and the family chatter reminded him of being home except they were being watched like fish in a fishbowl. When dessert and coffee were brought out at the end of the meal, Ramonda switched seats with Riki and leaned in toward the king.
“President Mubiri would like to have a nightcap with you during the mixer inside the museum,” Ramonda said.
“Why?”
Ramonda’s sharp eyes observed the guests.
“He believes D.C. is neutral ground and he would like to discuss rumors of you inciting a coup in his nation.”
“Sounds like C.I.A. bullshit.”
“Even so, it wouldn’t hurt to appear cordial. Get some photos taken that shows two rival nations talking together. Yani is your icebreaker. Madame Mubiri is here, too. A nice photo-op of beautiful African women mingling will make the CBC very happy.”
N’Jadaka glanced at Yani’s fingers. She had on her deadly finger armor. Hopefully she wouldn’t threaten the man again.
He signaled for Quamba and several Onyx Squad security to take his children and grandfather back to their penthouse suite at the hotel they were lodged in for the weekend. He hugged and kissed the children promising to read a bedtime story to them later. People moved out of the way and stared at his heirs. All three children walked like royalty, heads held high, backs kept straight.
The after dinner mixer started inside the lobby of the museum where a giant abstract art installation above their heads looked like the unfurling of giant bronze ribbons. N’Jadka read the description of the sculpture that was supposed to represent the swinging motions like a band of angels coming down to carry Black Americans back home like the old spiritual “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”. The artist, Richard Hunt, used suspended cables to anchor the work, and the swooping arcs of the bronze bands reminded N’Jadaka of his mother’s arms around his body when he was small.
Several servers traipsed the lobby carrying drinks and savory finger foods. A D.J. played contemporary R&B and the guests relaxed into full-blown partying mode. Bakari and Shavonne headed toward a display of Harriet Tubman’s shawl further inside the museum and Mpilo escorted Ramonda to meet some caucus members who were dying to be seen with her.
N’Jadaka held out his arm and Yani rested her hand on it. She walked with a majestic stride that matched his and they mingled for a bit. Yani’s charm was her greatest weapon and they spent a considerable amount of time discussing her book and tour. Her radiance overwhelmed a few people who couldn’t stop admiring her even as they moved on to other guests. The allure of power was a true aphrodisiac, and Yani wielded it well. All of her Wakandan training and years of experience dealing with all sorts of people paid off in spades as she delighted American dignitaries. He couldn’t stop staring at her himself. Her voice lit up his face and he smiled at everything she said. Yani’s youth also surprised people. She would be entering her late twenties soon enough, but carried a greater maturity and self-awareness in the last year representing Wakanda internationally.
They worked the first three corners of the lobby before the mixer branched out to the rest of the museum, and they headed toward President Mubiri and Madame Mubiri who lingered near a replica of a slave quarter. The Mohanndan president stood with a glass of liquor in his hand entertaining cronies as his wife watched her husband’s dour animated face with his uppercase gums spilling over his lowercase teeth. Her eyes sparked up when Yani approached holding out her hands toward the woman.
“Madame Habiba Mubiri, I finally get to see you again in a less formal setting,” Yani enthused.
Yani ignored Mubiri and immediately pulled Habiba away from her husband, touching her hand in informal friendship.
“Mubiri,” N’Jadaka said, offering his hand. Mubiri shook it.
“King N’Jadaka.”
Yani reached for a glass of wine from a server that had been freshly poured from the bar. She presented it to N’Jadaka using the ancient submissive stance of queens in Wakanda, holding the glass up to him with her right hand, while her other hand cradled the elbow of the serving arm. N’Jadaka caught the lust in Mubiri’s eyes again for his fiancé. He took the glass from Yani and kissed her cheek.
“Thank you, baby,” he said.
“May I please borrow Madame Mubiri? I would love to introduce her to the head organizer,” Yani asked Mubiri.
It was clear that Mubiri didn’t want his wife to do anything, but Yani’s seductive voice couldn’t be denied. She played on the man’s need to control women by asking his permission. Her earlier exaggerated submissive act toward N’Jadaka fed into the man’s cultural ego. Yani upped the ante by touching his arm and squeezing it. Her touch ignited something in the president and he lifted his wife’s arm and practically threw her at Yani.
“I’m sure you two have some important things to discuss without us present,” she added.
“Enjoy yourselves,” Mubiri said, his gaze plastered all over Yani’s figure as the two women strolled further into the heart of the museum.
N’Jadka pretended to drink his wine while being focused on something else until Yani was gone.
“I thank you for the personal invitation to your wedding King N’Jadaka. I didn’t think you would extend us any welcome to your country again.”
“It’s a time of celebration, not political intrigue. Yani wanted your wife there. They have been corresponding for a time getting to know each other. You don’t have to come if you don’t want to.”
“And miss the nuptials of that delightful woman you parade around like a trophy? Never. We will attend and enjoy the splendor.”
They both drank in silence.
“Did you like the tour of the museum earlier?” N’Jadaka asked.
“An intriguing history lesson. You must be proud of your heritage here.”
“I am.”
“Rebels at heart. I see why the Americans want to control you.”
“I know you don’t want to stand here and shoot the shit about my lineage. You want to know if I’m plotting to throw you out of office.”
Mubiri choked on his drink as N’Jadaka stared at his face. The Mohanndan’s cronies flicked their eyes away in embarrassment, not expecting the king to be that blunt.
“What would I gain from having you taken out, Mubiri? There would only be another leader who thinks the same as you, so nothing would change. Pinning your hopes on the Americans holding me in check has not paid off in a year. I offer nothing but hope and a chance at directing Africa’s vast internal wealth and ancient wisdom back to where it belongs…on all of our people.”
“Our people? You Wakandans are stand-offish and think only of yourselves. These little excursions into other African nations giving them little trinkets of your resources reeks of a ploy to rule over us all. At least your uncle acted like a benevolent father-figure in the west.”
“My uncle was not the man you all think he was. I am telling you now, to your face Barasa Mubiri…I have no plans for a coup, an assassination, nor war with your country. Did you not read my fiancé’s book? Wakandans value peaceful living, enhancements to prolong life, and self-actualization that benefits the whole and not just the individual. We kept to ourselves for centuries even when we had the means to colonize the world and bend it to our will. But we didn’t.”
“I still think that is an option in your arsenal, King N’Jadaka.”
“I am from the school of ‘don’t start none, won’t be none’. My goal is transformative liberation for whomever wants it.”
“So-called liberators often transform into something sinister, if given the chance.”
The king moved closer to the east African president, closing the small gap between them.
“I only plan to bring hell to those who mean us harm. Do you plan to cause problems for us with this U.S. administration?” N’Jadaka asked.
Mubiri shook his head and smiled.
“I want peace and prosperity for our people too.”
“Good. You have heard directly from my mouth what I want. Let’s spend the rest of the evening showing the world that Africans can co-exist on the continent without people confirming their biases about us being warlords and despots. We can be civil with our disagreements. Everything doesn’t have to be bloodshed, or rumors of hostile take-overs.”
N’Jadaka excused himself with Okoye by his side.

A King should never get too comfortable in his position - and if he is, then he shouldn’t be king. It was one of the many morals instilled upon T’Challa as crowned prince to the Wakandan throne. He knows he’s got a lot to risk for himself, for his people, and unfortunately he doesn’t have the ability to allow himself to get too comfortable. Though, just because he’s King of arguably the most powerful nation on earth, doesn’t mean he’s absolved from having guilty pleasures.
And it just so happens that he’s on his way to visit said guilty pleasure right now.
He has to keep a low profile, though. More than raised eyebrows would occur if people saw a member of the Wakandan royal family casually strolling into a college campus, accompanied by brightly colored warrior women trained to kill. So he dawns much more casual, American clothing, and so do the two members of the KingsGuard accompanying him, because of course, he couldn’t come completely alone.
With so much happening the past few months, all T’Challa truly wants is to be in your arms. To remember how they feel around him, to cement your kisses into his skin so that they never disappear again. It’s wishful thinking, he knows it is; there’s only so much time the two of you will have together, but he doesn’t like to think about that. Instead, he chooses to relish in the present, and perhaps, speak on what future instances would look like.
He remembers the day the two of you first met. Being introduced to each other by his friend who taught the graduate level african history class you were enrolled in, the professor relayed your expressed interest in Wakanda and the desire to study the history of the nation on a deeper level. While he could not grant you access inside the tightly secured country for reasons, T’Challa was more than willing to oblige in your questions to assist in your research. Little did he know that the mere prospect of assisting you in your extended project would lead to something much more deeper.
It was a breath of fresh air for the royal, a change of pace from his constant need to save face. You didn’t treat him like a King - which, granted, he had to get used to - but rather an average scholar you were bouncing ideas off of. While most of his life he has been molded to be a pillar of sovereignty, with you, T’Challa was able to have some semblance of normalcy in his life. Something he didn’t know he craved so carnally until he met you.
He sighs as his fist raps at your door, his body already buzzing with excitement at the idea of seeing you again after a long time being apart. You open it, and T’Challa’s lips immediately crack into a smile.
“Now, I remember telling you to let me know when you’re coming by,” you say in a voice akin to disbelief, standing in the doorway of your apartment that resides close to campus, “y’know, instead of knocking on my door like you’re the police or somethin’?”
“Can you blame me?” T’Challa retorts, “I was in a rush.”
Well, there’s little you can do about the King who seemingly lost his manners, besides welcome him into your home - and your heart - for the night.

Shuri Udaku x Fem!Reader
Genre: A bit of action, romance, fluff
Warnings: slightly mature language, a bit of kidnapping
Wordcount: 3011
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Summary: You decide to visit Wakanda and end up getting kidnapped by someone who tried to hack Griot but the badass bitch you are, you fight them off and teach T'Challa how to play a game. Shuri and you get closer.
A/n: this took me long enough ngl and I'm kinda happy but also kinda not but I still wanted to give you guys some content. Hope you enjoy it.
════════════════════════════════════════════
„Don’t you think we need some help from one of the avengers?“ asked M‘Baku T‘Challa while they were looking over some plans.
„They don’t prioritise issues around Wakanda, sadly.“ T‘Challa said, shrugging.
But right in that moment, T‘Challas kimoyo beads started to vibrate. He picked up and saw the projection of your head.
„Hey T’Challa my brother, I had the feeling you guys need help?“ smiled the girl at him and made the king laugh.
„Indeed, sisi. Someone stole some of Shuri‘s plans for vibranium weapons from us and they’re trying to recreate them and hack Griot. So someone should be near to spy on us, you know?“ he answered your question and made Shuri and M‘Baku nod.
„Okay, that sounds like quite a big issue. I’ll tell Tony about it and then come see you as soon as possible, okay?“ was the answer while you were already assigning jobs and tasks to people.
„And by the way, how’s my favourite princess doing?“, you asked while handing an assistant some files and T‘Challa pulled Shuri into sight. She only laughed and waved at her friend.
„Good to see that she’s okay. Okay, I’ll have a quick talk to Tony and then message you, yeah T’Challa?“ He nodded and hung up, only to tease Shuri about what just happened.
„Sisi, you’re her favourite princess. I’d be tomato-red if I were yo- oh.“
He looked into her face and realised-
She was tomato-red.
„Does little Shuri miss her so much?“ teased M‘Baku and made her blush even more.
She didn’t answer, was too scared that it would be obvious for her brother and his friend.
After some time, you and your assistant arrived and were greeted by the king, the Dora Milaje, the eldest of the Jibari tribe and T'Challa's mother and queen Ramonda. When the heroine left the jet, she greeted the king with the typical wakandan greeting.
You even learned that for your friends, living in America usually has its effect on people.
Your assistant, Marc, did the same and then you two went to have a little talk to T‘Challa where he informed you about the fact that Shuri is in her lab, if you as an Avenger want to check up on Griot.
When you were walking down the hallways, you even received a light smile from the general of the Dora Milaje, Okoye.
„Good to see you, Y/n. Shuri is still down in her lab.“
„Thank you, Okoye, good to see you too. I hope we can have a talk later tonight.“
You smile at the Dora Milaje and go further your way until you reached the lab, connecting your phone to Griot.
„Princess-“ started the AI to announce but you silenced it just to pull the princess by her waist in a warm and loving hug.
Shuri was very surprised about that but swung her arms around you.
„Hey.“
You gave her a smile when you let her go to what she muttered a small ‚hi‘ back and got comfortable in your presence.
„Are you okay, my friend?“ Asked the older one while eyeing everything she was working on right now.
„It just been a little tough, I’m all good.“ She answered and smiled.
„I’m here for a reason. People want to hack Griot?“ you revealed your matter of concern to her.
„Yeah! Let me show you. I don’t know why I’m not able to fix it but it smells like a bug.“ She explained and showed you the codes on her phone.
„That code looks faulty.“ You explained and started writing new components inside it, same as she scanned the other codes for security breaches and fixed them.
„I think Griot should be safe from hackers from now on, but we still we should find out who tries to get to him from outside the palace.“ You offered.
The questioning look on Shuri’s face told you that the princess didn’t know about this.
„Okay, look. Do you see this code here?“
„Yes! And I didn’t write it. Faulty codes don’t exist for me.“
The way the princess furrowed her brows told the avenger that she really has no idea where it came from.
„I know, someone tries to connect to Griot with modified kimoyo beads. Did you gave some to someone else?“ You asked her while going through all the options possible how someone would hack into the AI but Shuri just shook her head.
„Okay, I will have to talk to Okoye if she‘d be kind enough to send some of the Dora Milaje with me.” While you told her this you stuffed your iPhone back into your pocket and smiled at her.
„You look stunning today, princess. As always.“
The black girl just smiled and some blush crept into her face as she went in for a hug. You took her acceptingly into your arms and caressed her back.
After looking at her kimoyo beads she once again spoke up. “Are you staying for dinner? My brother asked if you want to eat with us.” And when she received a nod from you, she laughed and let you go.
On your way to Okoye you met Aneka and also had a short talk with her, mostly about Ayo and her, how she was doing and if she’s seen her general.
You and Aneka were getting along very well since you did a first visit in Wakanda and she definitely was some kind of best friend you had here.
She was amazing. Showed you around the country, introduced you to amazing people and you had a lot of fun with each other. She was also the one to introduce you to Shuri.
When she opened up to you about her relationship with Ayo she was extremely happy to meet your excited face when you hugged her with the words “I’m so proud of you!”
Little did she know that you also took a liking to women but never mentioned it, people should still be interested in you because of the good things you do and not because of the gender you like.
A bit further in time, you found Okoye in the throne room together with Ramonda and king T’Challa himself, explaining your suspicion to them.
“Then I will join you to make sure you’re not alone.” T’Challa agreed and looked at his mother as if he was waiting for approval which he, after all, got.
Together you once again went down into the lab and started to suit yourself. T’Challa was getting his last upgrades for the suit and you were just mentally preparing yourself with some meditation before you actually suited up.
“Are you ready to go?” now asked the king and meant you to which you agreed.  “I’m totally ready” You laughed at him and took your weapon from one of Shuri’s desks and attached it to your leg.
T’Challa was waiting for you in the elevator while you said your goodbye to Shuri, who was now looking at you awaitingly.
You forgot the hug.
After a long time of searching around the city they decided to split up and look in the countryside, which wasn’t the best idea after all. Didn’t they both learn from what we see in horror movies?
I mean okay, T’Challa was safe with the Dora Milaje but the fact that you were alone because you insisted on them staying with their king was just hella stupid.
And you agreed to yourself.
“Stupid decision, Y/n, well done dumbass.” You said to yourself while kicking a rock into what it seemed to be bushes. You used your powers since no one was around to judge you except for the bush, that made a little pained noise.
“Eh- what the fuck, am I mental?”  The green scrub moved around and two red eyes focused you.
“Oh holy shit!” came a screech from you as you jumped away from hit. “What the fuck are you now?” It was more of an ironical question because the red eyes implied that the creature you accidentally awoke wasn’t really happy about exactly this. Grabbing a stick that lay next to you, you tried to “defend” yourself with this and waved it back and forth in front of its face.
But the bush’s reaction wasn’t what you thought would happen.  “And you call yourself an avenger? You don’t even recognise a villain when he’s standing right in front of you!”
The scales fell from your eyes. You and T’Challa were looking for someone who tried to hack Griot and was a little tech-genius but this creature looked nowhere like this.
All you could do was give the thing a questioning look and hold your stick up high but he slapped it away like nothing.
“You’re not scared? Good, because you’re coming with me.” The person or thing chuckled and pulled you into them with arms that were covered in leaves. The laugh echoed through your head when you tried to get free from the bush with arms and feet, throwing punches here and there and wiggling around like a worm but their hold was firm and strong.
You bet your screaming was heard miles away, loud cries for help when your kidnapper muffled them with some duct tape with which he glued your mouth shut and - as fast as he could - tied your hands together so you wouldn’t be able to use your powers.
You could’ve facepalmed yourself when you remembered that you actually had those powers but couldn’t really use them now. Why were you this clumsy that you forgot about this? It was a misery.
T’Challa was wearing his panther suit just as if it was his daily outfit and that’s what made him hear your scream, his super sensitive panther ears.
He shot up from his crouching position where he was investigating some footprints and looked alarmed around, especially to Okoye and Aneka. They heard the scream too and Okoye was the one to confirm that it was you. As soon as the king saw her nod, he started running, followed close behind by his guards and made his way to your position.
But you were gone.
The only hint he got were the leaves on the ground which they started following.
Your opponent definitely wasn’t afraid of your wiggle in their arms when he pulled his hood off, revealing a man with a beard and the same red eyes that shocked you the first time.
Another man joined him and they laughed before covering your eyes, exchanging a few whispered words that sounded like “I hope the king and princess come get their little special guardian.”
Good for you that your ears were still functioning perfectly but you whished that you could’ve warned Shuri and her brother before they’d fall into the trap just like you did.
And T’Challa wanted to help you but he simply couldn’t because there wasn’t anything expect for the trail of leaves that stopped right in front of him.
His hands brushed over his face and he signed.
“How am I going to tell Shuri?”
“Brother, where is Y/n?” The female spoke as he entered the lab without the avenger by his side and immediately feel guilt spring up in the pit of his stomach.
“I lost her, Sisi.” His head hung low and he didn’t look her in the eye because he was totally aware of the feelings the princess cherished for the other female but his instinct told him that she instantly was worried.
“Listen, Sisi, I’m so sorry. We need to find her.” He exclaimed and took a halt next to her to see if she was furrowing her brows, which she did.
But Shuri was a genius in every way, of course she gave you kimoyo beads. It was easy for her to locate them. She flicked switches and swished her hands up and down on the holographic screen until she stopped.
“The beads are in Tokyo, Japan.” She announced while checking a few stats like your health data and if you were conscious or not, which disappointed her, because you were not. She was worried, hell was she worried about you.
Ever since you came back to Wakanda you were all she could think of, every time she was working on something you came to her mind and she wasn’t able to focus anymore. It’s like a curse and she firstly didn’t know why she would feel this fuzzy and comfy inside every time she saw you but soon she realised, what it was.
The feelings got worse but she never took the chance to confess them to you, which might end to her dismay. All along, when she told her brother he wanted to encourage her about giving it a go and telling you about it but she always refused to, thinking you might not reciprocate and break her heart.
Shuri was always very reserved when it came to her feelings. She buried them deep inside her and she was sure that she wasn’t going to let them out soon but to be honest, T’Challa had her thinking about a confession more than usual. And right in this moment, she regretted not telling you.
Who knows if she’ll ever see you again?
But the amazing brother he was and the fact that he basically had to help you out  made T’Challa light up and give out commands to the general.
“Sisi, I’ll find her, I promise.” His smile was wide and true when he opened his arms for his sister to hug him, which she gladly did while muttering a small “thank you.”
But little did he know that you were stronger than what he thought of you since he never worked with you, only met you on a couple of meetings. He didn’t see you in action and he also didn’t know that you were kind of a hot-headed person that would break everything in pieces if someone would enrage you.
Yes, that’s what he indeed saw when he arrived in Tokyo, exactly at the location where Shuri last saw your Kimoyo beads. But the fun thing was that the house you seemingly stayed in was simply blown up. There were bits and pieces of concrete, corpses laying around but T’Challa still hadn’t the slightest idea of what happened and felt a bit guilty.
But when you rounded the corner, wiping some dust off your shoulder, he laughed.
“Something in my face?”, you asked amused.
“Now I know why you’re a part of the Avengers.” He gave you the same smile Shuri saw just some time ago and took you into his arms.
“Glad you’re alright.”
“You shouldn’t worry about me, maybe worry about them.” A chuckle left your lips as you pointed to one of the (almost) dead guards and made him laugh even more.
“Let’s get back home, someone’s waiting for you in Wakanda.” He hinted and you basically assumed it to be Tony Stark, your “supervisor” or what he called himself. But he was just the guy that gave you one of his flats in exchange for you being an Avenger (but mostly because Fury requested it).
The flight was pretty calm and you taught the king how to play UNO!, which was one of your favourite games on long road trips in your childhood. He was fairly amused even though the fact that he wasn’t able to win against you and asked for more and more rounds. He was the brother you never had but always wished for.
The moment where he played his last card and won the game, he told you that you both had to talk about something rather important.
“Are you single?” His sheepish smile was a little anxious, as if he feared the answer the same way his sister did. But your nod made him sigh happily.
“What about Nakia, my king? I thought you still had that liking for her?” You asked, relatively unbothered by his personal question. “Nakia? Oh! No! It’s not for me, it’s for-“
‘Don’t pass on more than she needs to know, T’Challa, don’t.’ He thought to himself.
“-A friend. Yeah, a friend. They were wondering if you’re still on the market.”
And another nod made him the almost happiest man on the planet right now. His sister had an actual chance of courting you.
“Tell them I’m not single but not free, expensive girls, you know?” You smiled to show him appreciation and that he wasn’t too bold with the question.
Shuri had an chance.
And what of a chance she had.
The arrival was pretty common and usual for you, since coming back from missions mostly looked like the team greeting you and being happy about the succeed and even Ramonda took a liking to you so she had to hug you and show you how happy she was about your return.
Shuri was late again since she caught herself up into work as long as you weren’t around but when she got the message that you and her brother returned safely from the mission, she sped up and ran to the hangar, just to greet you.
You looked a little exhausted but still amazing and how she missed you, how she missed the feeling of your arms around her. She started to run into your arms just so that you could catch her and laugh.
While you were having your arms around her waist, she breathed your scent in and let it sink into her core. Here arms were dangling around your neck and her body was warm on yours.
‘This your “friend”?’ you mouthed to T’Challa who just shot you a little smile and left the scenery.
Yes, that’s his “friend”. And how proud he was of himself the entire day after he heard that you spent the night with Shuri-
You could’ve read it off of his face. He was so happy for his sister and knew that you’d take care of her.
Yes, you would. No matter what’d happen.

3rd Pov
It’s the most glorifying day for the kingdom of Wakanda. A new heir has been born.
Princess Lesedi Udaku came into the world. Her name meaning “Ray Of Light”, she gave that to her family and everyone who knew about her.
Except for the most important person. Her mother. Who couldn't seem to have any light in her eyes, when she looked at her daughter.
The King T’Challa fawned over his daughter even more since she was born. She was a perfect mix of him and his wife, having both of your features. T’Challa’s high cheekbones, your smooth coco brown skin, his tight curls, and your big beautiful brown eyes. She was beyond the words perfect, she was everything he could have imagined. T'challa thanks Bast every day, for bringing his beloved Intombazana yomntwana into the world.

Y/N Pov
I looked at her and felt nothing but emptiness. I couldn’t help the blank expression on my face when I held her close to my chest, holding her skin to skin. It’s not that i didn’t love her. How could i not love her? SHE'S FUCKING MINE, FOR BAST SAKE! Shit, I begged for her. I spent 9 months caring and nurturing her, but why did i feel nothing when she looked at me? I felt absolutely nothing, and it was gut wrenching. I waited and prayed for my child, and she's gets here and I couldn't feel nothing. What is wrong with me?
T’Challa, being the observant husband he was, noticed the joy i had during my pregnancy disappeared once our child actually came. His face held concern every time he looked at me. I would hear him ask his mother Ramonda, about what was wrong with me, and she simply replied with: “My son, she spent 12 hours in labor trying to give birth to your daughter. She is exhausted, mentally and physically. Give her time, she'll be fine and back to herself in no time."
It's been two weeks, i had multiple mood swings. I was irritable, and having thoughts about my baby that i shouldn't be having. And it scared the hell out of me, because Bast knows i would never hurt my baby. I didn't have the strength to be around my little girl, but I was constantly sad because i wasn’t around her.
What added to my stress was me not producing enough milk as much as i wanted to. I already felt like i didn't bond with her, but now I couldn't do the SIMPLEST THING which is feed my baby. I slowly felt myself getting more and more depressed. I started thinking what good is it for me to be here, if I couldn't feel any love for my child. I truly felt broken.
T'challa walked into the room as I paced back and forth beside the bed. “Why am I feeling this way, T’Challa?!” i questioned him angrily as hot tears ran down my cheeks.
He looked like he didn't know what to say, but walked towards me. “I-I do- I do not know, my love, but it'll get better. You know I'm always here for you." He said, reaching out for me.
I glared at him backing away taking in a ragged breathe. I angrily placed my hands on the sides of my head, and let out a choked sob. I looked back at him, his eyes glossy and a frown on his face. And it made me Angry! Not because of him, because of the stress and worry I was putting him through. It just seemed like I couldn't do ANYTING FUCKING RIGHT!
“Get out, T’Challa.” i turned my back away from him, so he wouldn't see me crying, and walked towards the bed, to get in the covers. When he attempted to grab me, i pushed him away.
“I SAID FUCKING LEAVE!” He slowly backed away, and began walking out of the room. I got in the bed and pulled the covers over my head, and began sobbing. What is happening to me?

T’Challa’s Pov
I went to the doctor monitoring Y/N and Lesedi. The doctor informed me that it was common for her to be extremely sad, which occurs in a lot of women after giving birth.
“The Queen is suffering from postpartum depression, my king.” he told me. I looked at him confused.
“I've never heard of this....depression.” i was genuinely confused. I did not know she was depressed. How could i not see this? I just want to understand why.
“How is she depressed? She gave birth to the child we begged Bast for? I don't understand why she isn't happy. I said, looking at the doctor who gave me a sympathetic look.
“It’s not that she is not happy, T'challa. Her hormones, her worries, the stress of dealing with a newborn, can all bring upon this depression.” he said. He went to grab his clip board and started naming all the symptoms of Postpartum Depression.
anger
anxiety
guilt
hopelessness
loss of interest or pleasure in activities
mood swings
panic attacks
I folded my arms and frowned at each symptom he named. My Love was going through all this this?
Uncontrollable crying
irritability
restlessness
 fatigue or loss of appetite
depression or fear
The thought of Y/N feeling like this, and trying to deal with it by herself hurt me. I felt tears brim my eyes but I quickly held my composure. I needed to be strong for Y/N, and to make sure she knew I was here for her.
I now had a better understanding, and thanked him, taking my leave to check on Y/N. I don't know what's going on with my Uthando lwam, but I will not stop until I figure it out.

3rd Pov
T'challa walked in the room to see you in the bedroom again curled up in a ball. You were in bed with a pained look on your face. Y/N saw his face, and looked like she wanted to cry even more. This wasn’t only hurting you, it was hurting him too. It was hurting the baby. He got into bed and after a few moments of silence, he spoke.
"I need you to tell me what's going on with you, Sthandwa."
Y/N sighed deeply, shaking her head and turning away from him.
“You won’t understand, T’Challa.”He turned your body back towards him and stared into your eyes. “You’re not letting me understand. We are one, Ukumkanikazi wam. You can't keep shutting me out. I need you, our daughter needs you." He said, softly.
"She deserves a mother that’s happy to be around her and I’m not. I feel EMPTY! And I don’t understand because those 9 months I spent with her in my STOMACH, I felt so close to her but now she’s actually here and I don't feel ANYTHING! LIKE WHAT IS THE POINT?! I CAN'T FEED HER RIGHT! EVERY TIME I TRY TO HOLD HER SHE CRIES! AND IT'S MY FAULT BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE A BOND! I just feel like she'll be better off without me." She said, As tears streamed down her face.
He grabbed your face. “D-Do...... Do not say that! You are everything to me and you are everything to her. Do not say you are nothing! AND SHE WOULDN'T BE BETTER OFF! AND NEITHER WOULD I! WE NEED YOU! this WORLD and this COUNTRY NEEDS YOU! Do you understand?" Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck, and cried into his shoulder and slowly nodded.
T'challa rubbed her back soothingly and kissed the side of her head, and turned her head so she could look at him. "I need you. Our daughter needs you. This kingdom needs you. You have to believe me when I say you are needed.”
After a hour of them comforting each other, T'challa got an idea, and kissed Y/N's head saying he'll be right back. Y/N sat up against the headboard and watched her husband walk out. Y/N sat in thought and tried to think positive, her and T'challa was going to make it through this, she'll just have to keep fighting.
T'challa walked in carrying Lesedi as she dranked from her baby bottle. T'challa got In bed beside his Queen, and slowly handed Lesedi to Y/N. She carefully took her and stared into her big brown eyes. Lesedi stared at her mama and reached her little chubby arm up and placed her hand on her mama's cheek, smiling letting out a gurgling noise.
Suddenly, it all hit her. A rush of happiness, joy, and love came barreling into Y/N, tears streaming down her face, as she started laughing. Y/N prepped many kisses on her daughters face. This is your daughter. This is yours. All yours. You knew you loved her with every fiber of your being, but now you finally felt it, and it was the most indescribable feeling you ever felt in your life.
T'challa looked at his wife with tears in his own eyes, and scooted over wrapping his arm around her back, and kissed her cheek.
"Ndiyakuthanda." He whispered to her. She turned to look at him with the biggest smile he's seen in a long time. "Ndiyakuthanda, nawe." And kissed his lips, pulling away and looking back at her daughter. "Nobabini"

"Dad mustve got me another stuff animal?" you shrugged it off, oo lord when you turned around, this man was on the edge of his seat looking at your ass. almost beating in person views.
' god give me the fucking strength to work today ' he thought
Y/n Pov
I got out the shower putting a casual fit on after putting lotion and perfume on and a little bit of red lipstick,my momma said she wanted to do some yoga in the yard so i came with her. it was now saturday so ofc im busy helping my mom.
In the yard we did excersizes, we even practice choreography for the next game or event my team had to go to.
"how was the sleepover with sasha?" your mom asked. You couldnt remember . You just shrugged it off
"Is that the lil Udaku boy over there?" you turned and he was washing his car. damn he did look sexy too. you bit your pretty lips watching him. you locked eyes with him, something in your somach felt like butterflies.
Locking eyes with him felt warm. as if you were infront of a king who only saw you. if you were a pretty crystal he wanted in a pile of diamonds. he was walking over? oh lord . "y/n baby youre drooling-" your mother said and you wiped your mouth.
you turned around going back to doing yoga, while he talked to your mother, you tested your flexibility since you need it for being a majorette, you heard him clear his throat. behave you assumed thats what it meant. but you were infront of your mother so it didnt matter.
"Well my baby is a little stiff with yoga so can you help her while i run to the store right quick baby?" your mother said and T' Nodded. she got in her car driving off.
He did what he was asked, he corrected your posture, noticing youd flinch lwhenever he grabbed your hips because of how it affected you. "If you pose like that you look like a cat throwing up." He said, of course he was gonna be a jerk, And a Attractive one too. "Well i dont see you being the flexible one here Sir." you said with the sass alike your fathers.
"Lower your tone, speak to me like that again and see what happens" He promised pressing against me on accident, which is what i assumed. I never felt something like that before, he felt so big n hard. i fell from him distracting me. "T'Challa what the hell!" i said standing up pushing the 6" foot somethin man. "What? got involentary movements now. i thought a majorette would have more balence?" he walked around you checking you out.
You rolled your eyes going back to doing yoga, you felt his private parts touch yours. Your dad looked out the window opening it. "Y/n who the hell is this?" your dad ask as you stood up straight, he was still rubbing his rock hard erection against your soaked warmth. "Its my friend Nathan sir. Mama asked him yo help me with dancing and yoga." you said holding the noises that wanted to escape in. "well boy do you want some lemonade." Nick fury asked.
"Yes sir." he said avoiding nick seeing his face. Nick paid no mind to it closing the curtains and window heading to the kitchen.
When you were sure your father couldnt see you moved from T'challa crossing your arms. "What the fuck T'!" you said making him laugh "im sorry im sorry. hearing you cuss is like a feral mickey mouse cussin." he said leanining against a tree. you got so wet from looking at him, he was so unbelievablly sexy to you.
You bit your lips, your eyes moving down, T'Challa was watching you, just as your eyes were about to move, you heard him say in his native tongue " my eyes are up here gugu'lami ( my treasure) ." he said.
You rolled your eyes getting closer and staring in his eyes." Yeah jus like that entle (beautiful) listen t' me ." He said lifting your chin, your pretty eyes looked at his hungry ones, he whispered in your ear.
"You have no idea on how much i wanna devour you right now." he said like a hungry wolf. then he looked at nick who came out with two cups lemonade. He handed yours to you, handing T'challa his. Immediantly going back inside.
you grabbed his cup pouring it in the grass with yours, he raised an eyebrow. "He probably poisoned it. Dad doesnt like his princess with perverted men that would hurt her." You said mockingly.
He raised an eyebrow. His phone got a notification, he read it going up on your porch knocking on your door, your dad answering. "If you mind my mom asked us to go shopping for her, can Y/n come with" He asked fury. "well ill be damned? someone asking me to take my daughter somewhere? you sure you not tryna date my daughter or something ?" he said.

you got flustered at the idea, you and T' dating? Sure you were friends with him since freshmen year ( 4 years) but youd never think he liked you. "No sir, i rather get to know her" He said, damn he was winning my dad over. "Damn hes a rare one. Dont scare your friend off Y/n!" your dad said embarassing you.
"Dadd! stoppp!" you whined out. They shook hands and T'Challa walked you to his now clean car putting you in the passengers seat. He got behind the wheel as music played when he started his car, he drove w one hand on the steering wheel, the other on your thigh. his eyes was on the road.
IN THE CAR.
"So did you enjoy my party?" the party
you completely forgot as your heart skipped a beat. then it all came back as you looked at T'challa like he was crazy. "My friend sasha.." you said, tears swelling up. T'Challa parked in a secluded place. Locking the doors so you wouldnt run. "Mhm but wanna know why that happened." he said and you nodded.
Before he told you he pulled trackers from you clothes or listening devices, breaking all of them. His eyes shifted to you, he looked angry now, for some reason it turned you on so bad. "Because your daddy likes to fuck up my operations.. and i dont like that Ms princess of law" he said, you realised who he was and you nodded.
You went for your phone forgotting he had it. "Aht aht. I know daddys girl would go telling him. " T'Challa said and you eached for it, your breast threatening to fall our your bra. "sit the fuck down. people can see in this damn car." his voiced boomed in your stomach and you listened to his orders. "Good girl. Now i have an offer right" He smiled at you.
"What is it.. " You said, he pretended to break your phone first which made you fucking sob. "hey now, Dont cry pretty Girl." He said wiping your tears, he lifted your chin so you looked at him.
"my mom finds you interesting. so she wants you to get every file he has on us, and delete them off of every single thing." he asked you, but you shook hour head "I cant do that T' thats illegal! my daddy works for the government!" you said and he chuckled.
"Well you can baby. you wouldnt want me going to jail right? then you couldnt have your perverted little looks at me, or touch yourself to me at nigth,or desperately hump your pillows to the thought of me. tsk.. its a shame i have all of that recorded.. itd be a shame id i just.. sent that to him and everyone in the school.. Y/n fury! the notorius pervert that desparately wants to corrupt The star student!" he said, faking his innocence, you couldnt believe be was blackmailing you to do what you want.
"Fine..you already broke what i have i dont have anything to lose." you sniffled hugging your knees. Seeing you cry made his heart hurt but he had to put his job first. "Hey hey im sorry baby. i promise if you do what i said.. itll be gone okay i can even do somethin bout sasha aight?"
BACK AT YOUR HOUSE
The Udaku's and Maria were over for dinner, But Shuri and T'Challa were in their house since they didnt wanna go, so only their parents went.
You sat on your dads chair, logging in his computer, his password was your birthday and his anniversary. You werent as dumb as people made you to be.When you Found their file, you saved the ones were you assumed was about T'challa or mentioned him sending it to your plugged in usb.you deleted the rest quickly , leaving the room.
Then you left the house Polietly knocking on the door and Shuri answered. "How can i help you ma? " she looked down at you. "Can i speak with your brother?" you polietly asked, Shuri loved how kind you were. she moved out the way letting you in.
you went upstairs knocking on his door, he answered only in sweatpants, half asleep. his pants were so low you could see his happy trail and his v line. "Hmmm? did what i asked you to do princess?" He said in his deep but raspy voice, you nodded "can i come in?" you asked and he nodded.
You walked in looking around . he closed and locked the door behind him, you both sat in his bed, well you laid down since it was so comfy. "i did it, so can you delete it now." you asked." hand me the usb " He said, your heart dropped to his ass.
"How did you know.." you said handing him it sighing. "Cameras." He replied. "Boy why the fuck are you watching me on camera's". you turned your head to him. he was laying on his side, his arm propped up holding the side of his head as he looked at you.
"Cause in interested in you Miss fury." He said getting close to you. You didnt move for some reason. "Well im not a damn show.. im a real person " you pushed him back, you werent gonna be seduced. " i didnt ask. im interested in you and know what my family does so im gonna watch you eitherway."he stood up going the foot of the bed.
"Youre just so fucking tempting yknow.. i have the temptations of the gods not to fuck you and make you mine." He said going off topic. You raised your eyebrow. "Well im not a cheap whore. sex or being my first time isnt gonna make me fall in love with your psychotic ass." you crossed your arms bickering with him like you were his wife.
"Lose the adtittude before i make you lose it." He said, he already looked pissed off. but you didnt care "Treat me with common fucking respect and i will bitch." you said, his hand was on your throat as you looked up at him. he squeezed down hard.
"Mmh T' dont do that." you said, shit he was turning you on." mm-mm. you deserve this for calling me out my name" he said softly. "Mm. say sorry and ill let go. he sat down moving you ontop of his lap. "Why are you like this.." you asked. "because i want, but i cant have you. " He said, you realised why.
"Is that gona stop you from.. doing stuff with me.." you said as your finger ran down his body, T'Challa said. "Baby im toxic. you would cry because of me" he said laughing ,hand still on your throat. "i dont care.. i just keep having these thoughts of you and i wanna act on them... continously ..•" you said, he raised his eyebrow. "Just say sorry and ill make you feel good. ill be my job to spoil you and make you feel good. just like youre mine." he looked down at me, i could tell he was serious.
"Im sorry daddy." you said with a smirk. T'challa laughed "just you wait." he laid be down kissing me, i kissed back wrapping my arms around him, my eyes closed as i let him guide me, he soft lips left mine as he bit on my neck, leaving hickeys and kiss marks. "mmhf Erik.. but my dads gonna see" i said worried, he pressed his thumb down on my throat telling me to shut up.
I whimpered and moaned at the bite marks, hickeys and kisses he left all over my body. he stopped at my jogging pants looking up at me, i nodded.
"sorry, we do verbal consent around here Sthandwa (my love)" He stared up at you"Please. Please fuck me." "please what" "Please Fuck me T'challa, i need you to please me daddy. i want only you." you caressed his face. thats all that he needed to hear, he slid your joggers off .
"Not wearin any panties conviently?" he said, his accent coming in. you looked away ashamed. " i.. um... see about that" you said "girl i dont give a fuck why you arent wearing panties right now , i just wanna give you head shut up." he said, you listened.
and when he did eat you out, he most deffinently was good at it. He is a munch. He deffinently is Overloard much too. He used his tongue on your clit , lapping at your clit, the motions drove you crazy as you gripped his hair. his fingers fucked your pussy so good, you moaned his name not trying to be so loud . he made you feel so good. "mmh im gonna cum soon ffuck." you grinded desperately against his mouth, his mouth and fingers absolutely attacking your pussy. you felt like heaven . "Squirt on my face baby. make a mess ,jus f'me"he said, fondling your breast with his free hand
Lord he enjoyed eating your pussy, you could tell that he was starting to get pussy drunk.
And so you did, you panted, he licked what he could off what he couldnt reach he cleaned off with a towel. "mmh do i get to make you feel good too?"you said sitting up. he raised his eyebrows " You sure Sthandwa?(my love) dont want you to choke on my dick" he said concerned
and so you did, but you didnt take in what you couldnt handle. you stroked his shaft as your tongue explored his shaft and tip when your pretty lips consumed him."mm fuck. you look so pretty" he caressed your face, such a praise would make you absolutely devour him.
You took him whole bobbing your head up and down, you were making the man whimper and throw his head back, you looked up at him smiling with your eyes, you didnt stop, you began to deepthroat him nice and slow.
he had shaky breathes. He began to fuck your mouth as he whined out "im gonna cum soon. on your pretty little face yeah? you want that Angel?" He asked you, you nodded, you felt like you were ontop of the fucking world. He pulled out, stroking his cock till came on my face.
T'Challa pov.
Fuck this girl was kinda good. atleast im getting what i want right? i took a picture of her face with my cum on it. "Whos the picture for ?” she asked me while giving me a look.
“Erik, cause i js wanna make him mad” I said replied. “Oh so you just did this with me to piss him off?” y/n said getting sassy with me, i rolled my eyes shaking my head. “Na. Of course not beautiful. I want you and im js establishing that you fuck w me and only me now.” i stated to her.
“No thanks i can do stuff with who i want to .” the shit she said pissed me off i tossed her onto the bed . “You funny if you think other people gon touching on you”
i laughed at her” now do you want me to please you or do you wanna stop?” I saw her bite her lip looking me up and down, her eyes meeting mine. Damn i love those pretty eyes of hers. “ i want you to do whatever you want to me” she said.
Then i snapped, i went down on her kissing her body and worshipping her. Shit if i was gonna risk my damn life, I was gonna be romantic about it. I gently played with her breast.
When i was done worshipping her, i teased the entrace of her pussy with my tip” you sure you don't wanna back out pretty girl?”i teased her. “Course i dont wanna back out ‘challa, youre my first” she told me, for some reason it made me smile.
I Opened a condom, of course i wasnt gonna go raw for her first. when i put it on and slowly entered her, she felt so warm even with the condom on, so nice. I tilted my head back, a soft groan escaping my lips. “Jus tell me when i can move..” i said, gently interlocking my hand with hers
Y/n Pov
I waited to get used to his length. "you can move now" i said, his thrusts were gentle and slow. he didnt wanna harm me. i moaned as he embraced me kissing on my neck.
This man fucked me like he loved me, his gentle strokes and kisses making me feel like i was loved. i knew i wasnt but atleast he made me feel good.
"Mmh faster please!" you said, He sped up hitting a spot you clenched around him when his cock grazed against your g-spot. "mmmh! right there please!" you were vocal about how good T'challa made you feel and he loved it. "Mmh you feel so good, nice n warm just f'me yeah?" T'challa said " Mmh? Found your g-spot. good." He added on .
He began to abuse your sweet spot making you feel so good, he fucked you so nice and deep, fast with it but not too fast for this to end quickly, he huched over to give you kisses, but this one was nice and deep. for a fuck buddy he loved to have loving sex. your tongues battled for dominance, when he pulled away a saliva trail was produced and broken.
He sped up his pace going rougher, still felt good but you were slowly getting overstimulated and cockdrunk. You scratched up his back listening to him moan and whimper in your ear. "Say my name." he said in your ear, fucking you so fast and deep, you could barley even think.
“T’Challa makin me feel so good !” you said choking on your words as all the sounds you could produce is your moans as this man took your virginity, his back was covered in your scratches while your body was covered in his hickeys , bite marks and lovebites.
i didn't know a man that could fuck and worship me as if i was a goddess he needed to worship ,ever crevice or nook he kissed. " Le intombazana izoba kukufa kwam."(this girl will be the death of me.) he said, his accent being thick and deep, raspy yet attractive. "I love when you speak your native language. its so pretty" I said, he was fucking you so nice n good.
"Thank you my love. Ill cherish your words" he chuckled as his thrusts got sloppy, he got more clingy. "im gonna mcum soon.. want me to pull out ?" He asked and i nodded, condoms could break and i deffinently wasnt ready for a kid.
He kept fucking me till i cane again, them he pulled out cumming all over my stomach.
i felt him lift me up and place me in a hot bath. it had bubbles in it,he sat in with me smiling. "why give me a bath?" You asked.
"Its aftercare baby. a normal person that fucks with you should give you it, but dont worry about that. youll only be with me" He said. "what if im not only with you?" you innocently asked.
"You dont wanna do that." he said in a threatening tone. i shrugged it off washing myself, he made me feel weird.
"do i get sasha back now.." you said hugging your knees. "like i like doing stuff with you but.. you killed my friend" you said tearing up. "no i didnt." he replied.
"Erik killed her because she was a spy." He said "as a gang, more like a mafia kinda. We have to do buisness, expand territory, sell goods for stuff we need, transport, trade etc." he said getting uo wrapping a towel around them. "and you killed her because she jeporadized you and your gang.." i said, he nodded but he gave me a light kiss in my forehead. "so youd kill me too. fucking with you is a death trap." i said glaring. i got out the bath and he blocked the door. "im not letting you go home, youre naked and know too much. " he said
"You must think im some delusional ass white girl to to think im not fucking going home" you said standing up with a towel around you. "cuss at me again and see what happens." he said staring down at me, boy he was infuriating. "Why are you doing this. you know i wouldnt tell my dad." you said , he sighed rolling his eyes "no because you would babble to your friends, and its 11:35. You leaving now is suspicious dumbass” he flicked my head.
“Where am i gonna sleep??” you said, frowning up. T'challa gave you the real face as if you weren't in his room. "im not sleeping in your room." you said. T’challa left the room putting a shirt in the bathroom. “Put that on. Im not arguing with a naked woman .” Tchalla said, you put the shirt on, sitting beside t’challa yawning.
“Why are you a brat?” T’challa asked. “Why are you a bitch” you replied turning your back to him, and nuzzling the big pillow on my end. “ baby are you mad at me” he asked in a soft tone, i ignored him and he got in my ear. "Ndingubani igama lam Umenz." he said, i turned to him understanding Xhosa abit. "T'challa." i replied, his hand gently caressed my face, smiling. "Mmh cmere" he said. you rested your head on his chest laying ontop of him.
You fell asleep to hearing a camera click. mmh you felt so safe in his arms, he kissed your head goodnight.

Bracket(??) Announcement!
I have FINALLY (which I am very sorry for guys) finished going through my submissions and have created something that looks like a bracket. BUT, in order to include the most characters, I have devised a group round with 128 characters divided into 8 groups and have sorted them in a way that prevents this competition from becoming a batman vs spider-man final.
making the polls shouldn't take nearly as long so be on the lookout for those! this will be pinned and I'll make sure to edit this post with links to the polls, and matchups are not necessarily going to be heroes next to each other! matches can be made up by any two heroes in the same group
polls will last a day for now and one group will be posted per day

IN DUE TIME
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Sumpterson Estate, Henford - FRIDAY]
Samuel Connelly [Equerry]: Good afternoon, sir.
Walter Budrow [Foreign Secretary]: Good afternoon.
Tumblr media
Samuel Connelly [Equerry]: His Majesty wondered if you’d mind accompanying him on the shoot at Baltsimore Club today.
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: No, not at all.
Tumblr media
Samuel Connelly [Equerry]: The grounds are still rather wet after the storms yesterday, I’m afraid, but we can provide you with Wellington boots.
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: There’s no need to worry.
Tumblr media
Samuel Connelly [Equerry]: “What size are you, sir?”
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: “Nine and a half. Though my riding boots are a ten, and my trench boots were an eleven. Make of that what you will.”
Tumblr media
[Baltsimore Club, Henford]
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: Your Majesty.
King George: Foreign Secretary, Welcome to Sumpterson!
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: It’s a gorgeous property, sir.
Tumblr media
King George: (coughing) I take it, this is your first shoot?
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: It is.
King George: The walk is long but the view is worth it!
Tumblr media
King George: (coughing continues)
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: “Are you okay, Your Majesty?”
King George: Yes, of course!
Tumblr media
(guns firing)
King George: So, what can I do for you, Foreign Secretary?
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: Much of this is just a function of vanity.
Tumblr media
King George: Oh?
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: The Prime Minister focuses on issues relating to Americreek and South Marvania, so important domestic matters are falling behind. He wants to approve another §1.1m simoleons in aid to South Marvania!
King George: What do you suggest I do?
Tumblr media
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: Well, as sovereign, of course, there is nothing you can do from a constitutional standpoint. But, as a friend... as George Windsor, you are the one person I can think of to whom he might listen. He needs to focus on home soil. On Windenburg first!
Tumblr media
King George: Well, that is where we run into difficulties, I’m afraid. I no longer am George Windsor. That person was murdered when his father died.
King George: (to aide) gun, please.
Tumblr media
King George: Yes, George Windsor would dearly love to say to his friend, Linwood Keller, “Focus on the country. Put home first.” But he is no longer with us and that void has been filled by George the I who, it turns out is quite the stickler, and ...(coughing) can no more allow the sovereign to interfere with the Prime Minister than stand for office himself.
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: Even when it’s in the national interest, sir?
Tumblr media
King George: The national interest or T'Challa Udaku’s interest?
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: (shocked) I..I..
King George: The reason I agreed to give you an audience is not to hear your grievances about Mr. Keller but to communicate mine about you.
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: Sir?
Tumblr media
King George: The PM will understand the right priorities for the nation, in time. And until then, as sovereign, I do have the right to be consulted, to encourage, to warn. It is better to be patient and get what you desire in the right time than push your agenda when you are not ready. I speak from personal experience ...(coughing) Foreign Secretary.
Walter Budrow [F.S.]: (walks away) Your Majesty.

He froze.
For the first time in his life he couldn’t move.
It was as though his brain turned off. Any sense, any logic, any thought, all came to a halt. His hands were clammy and hot. His heart was tricked to pound in his chest. Every ounce of self-control he held was taken hostage by a relaxing trance. A pair of green eyes, your green eyes, seemed to be the crux of it. As quickly as he saw you, you turned away just as fast.
"Staring will only scare her off, umtshama." The King noted. He snapped out of it.
"What?"
“Pretty girl.” S’Yan nodded his chin toward you.
The prince didn’t look toward you again, only gulped his dry throat. He hated this feeling with a passion. It was rare in his life he ever had control over anything. And the only thing he did, himself, now seemed to betray him all over again.
“Yes, I….I suppose.” He averted his sight to an undesignated spot out one of the tall tower windows.
He avoided the sight of you. But his peripheral betrayed him. He could fuzzily see chestnut coils fall upon a pair of shoulders. A flash of a wide, ebullient smile that greeted officials. Caramel skin that almost looked like it was glowing. There was an unfamiliar thumping in the pit of his stomach. He wondered if he was coming down with something because what he was feeling.....he hated it.
His uncle watched him, seemingly amused.
“She comes from a respectable Italian family. T’Chaka and N’Yami held a quiet admiration for the family during their living days.” S’Yan explained.
T’Challa’s head peaked at the mention of his parents. He was told very little about them. At least he knew his father to be brave, a story teller, and one of the best Black Panther’s to grace Wakandan soil. However, his mother, no one spoke of her; and doing so gave his father too much pain to bare when he was alive.
He looked back toward you and a woman without hesitation. His eyebrows furrowed with a quiet desperation, as he searched the surface for what his parents could admire. He ignored to tingling feeling taking over his body. Other than the eyes and the similar pallet of skin, there was nothing.
“What makes them so special?” He asked, not removing his staring gaze.
“That was one thing I could never make sense of.” S’Yan sighed. “What I can affirm to you is that they can be painfully honest people. But despite it, I will introduce you.”
S’Yan already began to walk toward the two of you.
"Malume." The Prince quietly begged for him not to, but the King ignored him.
"King S'Yan. I see you've come out of the shadows once more." The woman's exalted voice cordially joked.
Closer now, he could truly grasp her image. An intimidating beauty. On the taller side, svelte, dressed immaculately. Face was rosy and grounded. Deeply melanated skin with contradicting, sharp green eyes. An image very similar to yours. T'Challa noted the sudden pleased look across his uncle’s face.
"This tradition is one that must always follow through. And congratulations on the permanent position, Ambassador Vitale." S'Yan nodded his head with respect.
The King continued, “I’ve heard the notes of your proposal for the new policy. I must say it has my high hopes. I’m grateful my nephew here will be able to witness such respectable works.”
“Prince T’Challa Udaku. I can see you’ve grown up well, how old are you now?” She asked, curiously.
She knows my full name? He questioned in thought. He was Royalty, they were to be always addressed by a single name. And still, this winsome woman, just barely taller in height humbled him with a surname...
“I’m fifteen, Ambassador,” T’Challa answered neutrally.
Out of the corner of his eye, he could view your gaze suddenly on him. Your once-tilted head straightened with the rise of your eyebrows. The uncomfortable feeling rose once more. His throat dried again and he gulped, avoiding the magnetizing pull.
Why wouldn't you just turn away? Your drilling gaze lingered and lingered, his jaw tightening and heart racing with every growing second. His body betrayed him to the smirk that was so visible in his peripheral. Then, it finally stopped. You looked away nonchalantly, and he could breathe again.
But yet, he carefully inched his vision toward you. He didn't know what he was doing. He was choking just moments before and everything shouted at him to stop. He could see your black mary janes, then the hem of the black skirt at your knees, and thereafter......he froze. The pair of eyes, the color of Wakanda's acacia leaves, brazenly avert at him. He sighed, absentmindedly. A warmth spread through his chest, numbing away his anxiousness. His rambling thoughts unexpectedly weren't so gripping. He was simply there, present at the moment; observing a small comforting smile you'd sent. He could barely hear what his uncle was saying.
"He's to ascend my position a decade from now. In preparation, he's been independently attending schools across the globe and today is joining me here for the first time."
"There's no better moment to prepare for the future than the present." Your mother commented. A silence prolonged. One he didn't come to notice for many seconds. The background noise faded, and he snapped, looking to his uncle who watched unimpressed, and your mother, the ambassador judgingly calculating him. The Prince cleared his throat.
"I could not agree more, Ambassador." He not so subtly glanced up toward the king. He heard a peep of a chuckle from where you were.
“By the eyes, I can assume you’re her daughter.” S’Yan quickly changed the subject.
“Yes, your highness. Alessandra Vitale.” You bowed your head slightly. You did it in a way identical to your mother. Enough to hold respect for yourself yet just enough to give respect. He admired that.
“I see you’re about the age of my nephew. What brings you here instead of enjoying your youth?
“About. I’m fourteen, your highness. And because I’m here doesn’t mean I’m boring and not enjoying my youth. No matter what the other members of my family may attempt to convince.” You had explained, jocularly. It made him unknowingly smile. He liked your voice, he wanted the sound of it to go on. “All it is is that I’ve been raised to be well aware of my blessings and to recognize the choice I have to make use of them or not. I’ve chosen the former.”
”Hm." S'Yan hummed, noting what you'd said. "Conceivably, the two of you watching the assembly together may be a wise suggestion. Perhaps, you may explain the importance of making use of opportunity, Ms. Vitale.” S’Yan suggested, his pettiness shielded. Embarrassment ran through him. It increased with the surprised raise of your eyebrows and amused smirk. You nodded. "Sure thing."
"The assembly should be starting any moment now." Your mother spoke and he just noticed her hand had been on your back the entire time. “The seats are in the upper left corner. I will meet you after.” She finished. You had nodded to your mother and the King signaled his head for the Prince to go.
He could see your neck tense the second her hand left you. Your eyes shut for just a moment, like you were concealing some type of pain. He wanted to ask if you were alright, but his conspiring thoughts came at full force. Did you not want to be around him? Were you frightened to be separated from your mother?
Together you walked silently to the seats. It was awkward. No small talk. Few glances of acknowledgment. He saw your focus hyper-fixated on the floor, the playful demeanor now meek. He lingered for a few moments before he bit his tongue and looked straight ahead.
Once you sat together, it perpetuated. He wasn’t sure what happened. He stared curiously at your still frame. The deep rise and fall of your chest, the clenching hands, how the floor continued to hold your attention.
“Hello?" He quietly questioned.
“Uh, hi.” You chirped quietly, dashing a glance and quick smile. He still watched you, trying to understand your behavior. Your expression suddenly furrowed.
“Why do you continue to stare at me?” You bluntly asked. “Is it my makeup, what is it?”
He understood what his uncle meant by sudden honesty.
“No, no, that isn’t it. Not it at all. I’m- I'm attempting to figure you out.” He tried to explain calmly, but it came out as stutters.
You had shut up. Sitting back against the chair, your eyes narrowed. "Figure me out?" You asked.
He hummed. “Yes, the uh- the floor seems to have peaked your fascination.” He attempted to joke, which seemed to be successful.
A laugh fell from your lips. He liked your smile. How beaming it was and took up your entire face. One came across him. He didn’t know what was happening to him. A trance seemed to interval. It undulated from fright to calmness all in seconds. He didn't know why or how, for the first time, he didn't seem to care to know. He felt fine, for the first time in a while.
"Would you say you are talented at it? Figuring people out?" You carefully asked, with a shy smirk.
"I would certainly. I figure you're a timid acolyte. Someone who is comfortable with a crowd, but the opposite when alone with a person. You’re someone who is easily intimidated and doubt yourself before any move you take.” He stated confidently.
You laughed. A boisterous laugh that caught the attention of a few around the two of you. It confused him. He looked around at their judging faces as you shamelessly giggled so much your eyes were shut tight.
"No, not really.” You chuckled boisterously. “Quite the opposite, actually."
"Are you sure of that? Yet, I notice you find difficulty to look me in my eyes." He quietly observed, archly.
“Is that a challenge?” You smirked and impulsively met his stare. He could feel his own heart starting to race. As if you could see right through him.
__
Faces no more than a foot apart, you could feel your anxiety efface. The observant, slightly arrogant boy before you, the one who you had to admit was cute, was all you could see. All up close and personal with the sporadic amber flecks in his dark iris, the asymmetric wideness of his nose, and the small apples of his cheeks. He flushed your nerves away, yet simultaneously brought them on. He was amusing to you, once you got a grip of the internal sphere. His brave front, and hidden turbulent interior. His tenseness and rapid heart rate that reverberated in your ears. Adrenaline, dopamine, and norepinephrine all involuntarily released throughout him. You grew amused seeing the bold boy becoming rattled.
"First time you've been wrong?" An eyebrow raised teasingly. He was nervous and now was the one to break the lock of your matched sights.
He hesitated, thinking before he spoke. You had noticed he did it a lot. He cleared his throat. “It may be a wise choice for me to brush up on my skills.”
“And in other words….” You chuckled.
“.....No, it hasn’t been. Perchance, you’d be willing to give your attempt?” He light-heartily offered to see if you could do any better.
You knew you could. Yet still, you asked, “Should I?”
His back fell back against the chair, and he observed you with a repressed smile. The way he looked at you, it made your heart go again.
You debated for a few moments. Should you go all in with the unrelenting truth or scale back and decline? Screw it. You readjusted your position to face him. Your eyes met, and neither dashed away.
"You're here by force. You'd rather be somewhere else, or anywhere else for that matter. But as of this moment, you're not so sure. You're not a person who is used to being wrong. Rather that be sourced from your intelligence or arrogance, I’m not so sure. But what I am sure of is… I make you nervous." You revealed.
He sat still, taking in a sharp breath. The wheels turned in his head and you could tell, you hit a nerve. You weren’t sure what but he was uncomfortable. You sat back in the chair.
“I uh, I assume I’m correct.” You asked, sensitively.
“Some parts may not be too far from the truth.” He answered, reserved once more.
You left it at that. You didn't want to force this boy you just met, though it didn't feel like it, to reveal anything he wasn't ready to. You knew the feeling, and it wasn't nice.
"So, do you simply read and expose people's vulnerabilities for fun or?" He prompted once more. It made you burst out into a laugh again.
"It's only one of my favorite hobbies." You saw his big, imperfect smile come around again. His eyes began to soften, and you knew you wanted to see more of it.
"I can teach you if you'd like."
He nodded his head quietly. "I would."
The room began to calm and people began to sit. He was the first to bring his focus to the front of the room. And you did not long after.
__________
Once the assembly ended, there seemed to be a silent agreement to find a way out of the room. As the buzzing came again, the two of you found a quiet hallway that let the mid-day sunlight shine through.
His back fell against the wall, facing the windows over the river.
“That was two hours of nothing.” He reflected calmly, but absolutely astonished.
“I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking it. I can’t believe it!” You admitted passionately, yet still in a hushed tone. He turned toward you.
“There were over a hundred officials in that room yet a fraction of what two people can do was accomplished. The relevant notions could be summarized within the span of 30 minutes and those who had zero to affix claimed the most time.”
“It isn’t that a hundred can’t be efficient, it’s that they all have their motives. Some less pure than others.”
He seemed taken aback, not like you were any different when you began.
“Do you deduce?” He asked hesitantly and you hesitated. After a quick decision, you inched yourself closer to him.
“It isn’t… exactly… a surmise.” You whispered the admission.
“But the amount it would take leave an impact… Some form of honor must be present in most. It is what the job requires.” He reasoned.
“You’d be surprised.” You concluded with a disappointed sigh. “But you didn’t hear that from me, of course.”
“Of course not.” He responded quietly. Clearly half of himself was in thought.
"At the very least I hope they aren’t all as tedious. If guilty, may Gaia help us find a rope.”
His eyes widened and he laughed with disbelief.
“Or maybe she and Bast gave a partner to bare it with.” He continued, with a hint of unsureness. You narrowed your eyes humorously and you felt his chest started to beat harder.
“.....that may be the more reasonable route.”
“May?” His laugh reverberated off the walls of the hallway.
One of the Wakandan guards came into sight from the end of the hallway behind him looking panicked. She eased at the sight of him unharmed but subtly glared at you. He turned back to see what you were looking at.
“My Prince, we will be leaving now. The King has requested to leave for the day.” She firmly spoke, clearly annoyed.
He sighed disappointingly before he turned back to you.
“I must be going, unfortunately.”
“No, the timing is right. I should be meeting my mother anyways.”
“Should I- let me walk you to where you rendezvous.” He said, getting all awkward again. It was cute.
He saw you politely shake your head. “A kind gesture, but I will decline. But uh, I’m glad I met you.” He saw your own nervousness shine through your confidence.
He smiled, sensing it.
“Alessandra Vitale.” He confirmed your name. You liked the way he said it.
“T’Challa Udaku.” You did the same. He liked the way you said his.
You friendly offered your hand and his eyebrows lifted with surprise. Never in his life had he met someone who offered him a hand. Never in your life had you offered a hand and had someone not take it.
“Prince.” The Dora hardly corrected from behind him. It hit you like a ton of bricks.
“Oh, that’s right! Royals don’t shake hands.” You retracted your hand quickly. Now feeling bashful, you muttered “My mistake.”
He looked at your hand, and back at you. His years of etiquette lessons buried in the back of his mind finally came to light. Unlike the times before, the automatic gesture triggered insecure anxiety. He gently took hold of your hand and lifted it to his lips.
The formulaic kiss to the back of your fingers felt rehearsed, but nonetheless, butterflies fluttered around in your belly. A blush rose to your cheeks.
As he lowered your hand he began trying to ask you something. He kept on breaking eye contact as he stumbled over his words. You chuckled, kept on trying to meet his gaze.
Seeing your gentle smile all he wanted was to ask to see you again, but he couldn’t seem to find the words.
“Yes?” You asked interestedly, so close to him and eyes all bright.
“My Prince.” She warned again. He scolded himself to get the words out because he knew, you were someone he didn’t want to go without seeing again, again, then again again.
“I’d still like that lesson.” The words finally came off his tongue.
You thought, then a light bulb appeared in your head. You dashed to the small notebook in the pocket of your pants and scribbled on it. Ripping and offering the paper to him, he took it looking composed.
“Call me?” You asked, hopefully.
He nodded one last time. "I will."
The guard behind him was reaching her limit of irritation.
"Well then- Bye." You simply smiled.
"Bye." He hummed.
As he left, the giddy feeling in your stomach intensified.
Seconds after leaving you, he felt his want to meet you again throb.
A giddy, juvenile smile didn’t leave your lips the entire way home.
The uncomfortable feeling he hated, he didn’t mind bearing anymore. The short flight with his uncle back to school didn't seem as suffocating.
From the moment you arrived home, you didn't wait like Roberto said. All you did was shout "Fina! I understand you now!"

30, 35. 😁
30. Tooth-rotting fluff or merciless angst?
I used to be a fluff girl, but I've really been feeling the angst lately😈
35. Ramble about any fic-related thing you want!
I think it's hilarious how the Black Panther fandom latched onto Udaku being T'Challa nem's last name when it's mentioned like ONCE in passing in the comics. In the movie, his last name is "Son of King T'Chaka," but we all collectively said fuck that, you're an Udaku. Even when Ryan was introducing the actors at the last Comic Con, Shuri was "Shuri, Daughter of Ramonda" and Nakia was "Nakia, Daughter of Yaa." We just had to give them a regular surname for some reason😂.

"Wouldn't you know We been hurt, been down before, nigga When our pride was low Lookin' at the world like, "Where do we go, nigga?" And we hate po-po Wanna kill us dead in the street for sure, nigga I'm at the preacher's door My knees gettin' weak and my gun might blow But we gon' be alright"
Kendrick Lamar – “Alright"
The former king of Wakanda, T'Challa Udaku stared at his cousin, the reigning monarch of the most powerful nation in the world. From his seat behind the stage, T'Challa watched King N'Jadaka stroll down the aisle of the United Nations gathering in New York flanked by the Dora Milaje and the handpicked onyx kingsguard in their obsidian uniforms and horned helmets.
Battle armor.
N'Jadaka's black robes were soft and billowy, but the glinting of gold from his golden jaguar necklace looked menacing around the thick neck resting on the wide chest. The gathered audience held its collective breath waiting for the king to face them.
Nakia stood at the podium waiting for the king to acknowledge and relieve her of the duty of introducing him. Head held high, lips painted dark to match her crisp black pantsuit, the love of T'Challa's life stepped aside once the king reached her. She stayed standing to the left of the king, eyeing the audience until she locked onto her target: Agent Ross.
T'Challa twisted his neck to catch a glimpse of the traitor spy.
Ross sat with a grin on his face, clapping along with everyone else as the assembly welcomed the new king. For a scant two seconds, T'Challa caught Ross's attention and the C.I.A. operative dipped his head toward him. T'Challa lifted his chin and then turned back to watch his cousin speak.
The rumble in N'Jadaka's chest made his voice sound even more powerful as he addressed the assembly. T'Challa felt the crackle of nervous energy grow thicker the longer N'Jadaka spoke. The leaders of nations far and wide witnessed a new style of leadership they were not prepared for. The king had been forceful and direct at his address in Geneva a couple of months back, but today he was scathing. Critical. His words scorched the plans that the various leaders present had for controlling Wakanda's resources. The anger in the room was palpable. N'Jadaka retracted and rescinded every promise T'Challa had made to the same assembly four years ago.
T'Challa glanced at his lady love Nakia.
She surveyed the responses in the room and kept her face neutral as N'Jadaka gave the leaders a tongue lashing with disdain in his throat. T'Challa checked for any signs of fatigue in Nakia. She'd been on her feet for hours with N'Jadaka as they toured the facility and met privately with other African leaders. She swiped a hand across her belly once and T'Challa couldn't suppress the smile on his face.
Nakia carried his child.
She was only four months along, but she was already showing signs of weight gain in her midsection and face. No one in the family knew yet. They had wanted to keep it a surprise until she was further along and could find the words to tell N'Jadaka that he would have to find a replacement for her as the Ambassador of Wakanda.
His cousin would be miffed of course, but there would be happiness too. He would know that they both finally got what they wanted. Their own family.
T'Challa wiggled his fingers and exhaled a short breath to keep himself from bolting up in his seat and announcing to the world that he was about to be a father… and a husband soon.
Ramonda patted his left thigh.
"Are you alright?" Ramonda asked.
She sensed his restlessness.
T'Challa wanted to be back at their hotel with Nakia, rubbing her stomach and cooing to the tiny fetus making magic of their genetic blending. He patted his mother's hand.
"I am fine. Tired," he whispered back.
"He will make short work of this," Ramonda said.
She removed her hand from his and he prayed to Bast to keep his lips sealed because he was screaming on the inside to tell her she would finally be a grandmother. Ramonda turned her head to observe the other side of the room and his maniacal grin paused her movement.
"What is going on with you?" she asked.
"Nothing," he said.
Her raised eyebrow and pursed lips disagreed with him.
N'Jadaka's speech lasted a full forty-five minutes and then Nakia took the podium once more.
"King N'Jadaka will not be answering any questions at this time. Thank you," she said.
The Doras and the kingsguard surrounded N'Jadaka and Nakia, escorting them out of the assembly room. Agent Ross stood up, buttoned his suit jacket, and glared at T'Challa.
"Come," Ramonda said, stepping quickly behind the king, bringing up the rear of the entourage.
T'Challa stayed by Ramonda's side. When they passed Ross, the agent darted forward.
"Can we talk?"
Ross's voice sounded hollow and bitter.
"Not now," T'Challa said, keeping step with the Wakandans he was assigned to protect.
News camera flashes and shouts to get a statement blasted them outside of the main room. They kept moving, entering dark Lincoln SUVs waiting for them out front.
"So it begins," Ramonda said.
"We are prepared for the fallout," T'Challa said.
Back at the hotel, the immediate family joined together, sequestering themselves in a room to watch the news of N'Jadaka's speech. Shuri, Ramonda, Nakia, and T'Challa were joined by Disa, Joba, and Disa's new companion, the Jabari architect, Adebiyi. Disa flew to America with them as a drop-off point for her and her daughter to visit her family for an extended break away from Wakanda. N'Jadaka left Yani and their children back home in Wakanda. The new school year had started and Yani didn't want to take her two little ones out for a two-week tour with the king.
The news on the screen wasn't favorable to Wakanda. Pundits painted the new king with a vicious brush, making him out to be a despot as N'Jadaka had predicted. The king watched the news with a tight face. Afterward, he spoke to Disa alone and hugged his daughter with their preparation to depart for Canada. The night before, N'Jadaka had spoken to Adebiyi alone for hours and then a Dora was assigned to them for the duration of their visit. Things must've been serious between Disa and Adebiyi because he was meeting her family.
There was a distant respect between N'Jadaka and the Jabari outsider. Disa was a prized jewel in the Udaku clan, however, an alliance with kin to Jabari leadership was seen as a plus. Nothing scandalous would come from families uniting. T'Challa got a kick out of thinking about M'Baku possibly becoming a relative in the future.
After dinner and taking time away from politics, T'Challa finally had time to be with Nakia by himself. He slipped down to her hotel floor and they embraced in her hotel room behind closed doors.
"I have missed you so," he whispered in her ear.
Nakia's lush lips smothered his and they undressed quickly. Time was not their own in America, and he was expected to start protective patrols in three hours. Once out of her clothes, Nakia's swelling belly was so obvious that it made T'Challa laugh with pride. He kissed down her neck and chest until he sprinkled more kisses all over her stomach.
"How is my little one today?" he asked.
"I may have felt something earlier… I'm not sure," she said.
Her fingers brushed through his curls as he stayed pressing his ear against her tummy. He stood and cradled her face in his hands, kissing her harder. Nakia's fingers reached down to the hot and heavy dick that stuck out between them.
"You are so quick," she teased.
He moaned while her hand fisted him slowly, the head of his dick swollen and pooling pre-cum all over her fingers.
"Only because you are so ready," he chuffed, fingering the wet petals of her folds.
The inner lips of her pussy were puffed wide open and slippery. He dipped two fingers in to test the amount of lubrication she had. She soaked his digits. T'Challa licked his fingers tasting the salty sweetness she produced. It had become even sweeter now that she was pregnant.
"You taste delicious," he said tugging on her hardened right nipple.
T'Challa guided Nakia to their hotel bed and drenched her skin all over with wet kisses and expert licks of his tongue between her thighs. Climbing above her slowly, he entered her depths with gentle assurance as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He dipped in and out of her with small grunts and watched her face contort in pleasure. Pushing her thighs back, he watched his dick make motions inside of her, pulling moans and eye rolls from Nakia. Her back arched and she came quickly, huffing warm breath in his ear. Clutching his shoulders, she giggled when he swore to Bast and emptied his warm cum in thick splashes against her sticky walls. He nibbled on her neck.
"Laughing at me?" he teased.
She smooched his response away before tugging on his bottom lip with her teeth.
"We don't last very long together anymore," she said, wiping sweat away from his brow.
He lifted off of her, conscious of his weight on her midsection.
"N'Jadaka keeps you away from me a lot these past few weeks and I can't hold back," he said.
"Well… we shall have plenty of time to be together more. When should we tell them?"
T'Challa glanced at his kimoyo beads.
"Within the next hour would be best," he said.
A crease across Nakia's forehead forced T'Challa to fold her into his arms.
"Are we doing the right thing?" she asked.
"You are having doubts, my love?"
"Not about us having a child together, but me stepping away from my duties. I can still work up until I give birth."
He tried not to show disappointment on his face. She caressed his cheek and pecked her lips against his forehead.
"You don't want me to work."
"I think it will be difficult for us to enjoy the process if we are both busy. If you are the Ambassador, you will be away from Wakanda all the time."
"But you will be working too."
"I am the Black Panther. I have the power to come and go. You do not. I want you to enjoy this time for yourself, and not worry about the nation. Let me handle the politics. You concentrate on you and our little one."
He touched her rounded belly again, his fingers spread wide to protect the blessing within.
"Well, I would like to at least attend to Haiti as N'Jadaka wanted. Once the school and technical institute have their ceremonial opening next month, I will resign," she said.
"Good. Now, have you made your decision about our wedding?"
"I would like for us to wed six months after the baby is born. It will be too much to prepare for birth and nuptials at the same time."
"As you wish."
He nuzzled his face against hers. Both their kimoyos lit up in the dark lavender signature of the king.
"He summons us," Nakia said with bated breath.
A sly grin curled his lips.
"It's time," he said.
Tumblr media
N'jadaka sipped on cucumber water and checked over the instructions he would send to his staff back in Wakanda. Slipping into his royal sandals, he prepared to meet up with the family for dinner and drinks.
Yani and their children were well. Seeing them on his kimoyo beads made him homesick. Especially for Yani. He missed her hand rubbing his head and the sound of her voice soothing his hectic nerves. They started having secret rendezvous outside of the chaperoned betrothal march parameters. No one could understand the physical aches they had for one another. Their sex together was otherworldly. Animalistic. Beyond the realm of making any damn sense. He'd fly a secret stingercraft to her home while the children were away and they'd fuck until his dick was raw and her pussy lips were swollen from the friction and deep pounding.
She knew how to have those pussy lips wide open and her legs up in the air once he swept into her bedroom, his raging erection poking holes through his royal trousers. Gripping under the big wide head of his dick, he always thrust in fast and she caught every stroke, giving it back to him purring his name, and scratching softly at the nape of his neck. The woman understood the proper way to talk him through explosive orgasms. He nutted hard and hollered every time like he was dying from lust and the completion of life itself. It scared him sometimes. Their vigorous sessions depleted him the way he needed to be drained after a difficult day. She deftly handled his body and the amount of cum he gushed into her, filling up every orifice in her body.
Each time he left her bed, it irritated him. But he had to play the royal game of propriety. The country was fully aware that he was going to marry Princess Yani Galiber in a year. They chose the day he first arrived in St. Thomas as their wedding date. It seemed so far away and not having her in his bed in the palace worked his nerves. He showed that attitude by making Yani get on her knees before he left her side. She got a kick out of his suffering and pining for her, taking advantage of the situation by sending him nasty holo vids of her playing with herself like she used to back on the island. Teasing him ratcheted up is desire. He beat off his heavy dick and she stared up at him with those doe eyes and parted lips, letting him call her salacious names so he could cum on her face, painting her lips and cheeks with his love and dominance. Once she became his wife he was going to do the real damage then. Fuck her every morning and night, giving up the random sneaky links that soured his sleep at night.
A knock at the door distracted him from thoughts of his woman.
His kimoyo let him know it was only family.
Disa.
"Hey,' he said, letting her inside of his grand suite, "I thought you left already."
"We are, in about fifteen minutes. I just wanted to see you alone first," Disa said.
She looked radiant.
Her chocolate satin skin glowed with vitality and love. Dressed in a simple indigo caftan with a matching hijab, she clasped her hands together in a quiet display of peace.
"W'sup?" he said.
Disa threw her arms around him, smothering him against her soft plush body.
"Thank you," she said into his chest.
"For what?"
She pulled back from him slightly.
"This trip. Being cool with Adebiyi going to Canada with me and Joba. He told me about your talk. It made quite an impression on him. I was afraid my wanting to travel with him would upset you… I wanted him to meet Joba away from the palace… away from all the business there. It's not easy sharing this new part of me with her. Sometimes I think she'll be scared that you and I don't love each other anymore as co-parents. She sees all of us together as a family unit. I feel like I'm breaking up her world by bringing Adebiyi into it."
N'Jadaka held Disa's hand and squeezed it.
"Children adjust. I promise she'll be okay. I'm her only Daddy. Adebiyi is just your boy toy."
Disa punched him in the shoulder. He kissed her hand.
"I'm happy for you, Disa. Adebiyi is good enough for you in my book. He loves you."
Disa's eyes grew wide. He brushed a piece of lint from her hijab.
"That man thinks you are the air he breathes. M'Baku told me that his wife is over the moon because her brother has changed in so many ways because of you. Y'all fit the way you deserve a man to enrich your life. As long as he's good to my daughter, you have my support in seeing him for as long as you want."
Disa's eyes became glossy and he looked away quickly. He didn't want her to cry. N'Jadaka sensed her fear and hesitation about his feelings the moment she walked in. She'd been on eggshells the entire trip, so worried about the adjustment of their daughter meeting a boyfriend. It still stung in N'Jadaka's hidden places that he hadn't fulfilled that role of companionship for Disa as his youthful past had promised. However, they were closer than ever before as co-parents. Her happiness was his priority. If Adebiyi made her glow like that all the time, he was there for it to continue.
Mpilo knocked on the door urging his presence for the private family dinner.
"Wish you all were staying for one more meal," he said.
"We'll catch you all in a week."
"Is the tutor working out for Joba?"
"Yes. She's keeping up with her schoolwork and language lessons."
"Alright, get going," he said, nudging her toward the door with his hand against her lower back.
Outside of his suite, he watched Disa saunter down the hall. Mpilo grinned next to him.
"All is well, King N'Jadaka?" Mpilo said.
"All is well."
"This way."
He followed Mpilo toward another suite on a lower floor where a lavish meal was spread before the Udaku family present. Ramonda, Shuri, and T'Challa were already sipping wine. Nakia poured herself sparkling water flavored with raspberries. Unlike everyone else, Nakia was overdressed with layers.
Ramonda poured N'Jadaka a glass of red wine and handed it to him. He took his seat beside her and relaxed into having privacy and no responsibilities for the next few hours. Shuri began passing around platters and bowls as they all served themselves the food their private Wakandan chef had prepared in the hotel kitchen. N'Jadaka surprised himself with the change in his tastebuds. American food no longer suited his palate. He still craved the southern foods of his Black American roots, but anything fastfood or regular fare did not please his stomach.
"Agent Ross has been on my heels all day," Nakia said after they had eaten for a time.
"He could barely contain himself in the assembly," T'Challa added.
"The tide has shifted and he's no longer looked upon as the Wakandan insider. He's scrambling," N'Jadaka said.
Nakia glanced over at T'Challa who sat next to her. He gave her a look but then noticed N'Jadaka watching them carefully.
"Is there something you two need to tell us?" N'Jadaka said, stuffing his mouth with a forkful of pulled pork mixed with savory rice.
Nakia jolted like ice water was tossed down her back.
Ramonda and Shuri stopped eating and watched the both of them too. T'Challa rubbed a hand on Nakia's upper back.
"Now…?" Nakia whispered to T'Challa.
T'Challa cleared his throat. Nakia held his hand on the table.
"Queen Mother, Shuri, King N'Jadaka," Nakia began with lowered eyes, "we have some news to share."
"You are getting married!" Ramonda squealed, clapping her hands together and holding them near her face.
"Yes, next year, but there's something else," T'Challa said.
"I'm having a baby," Nakia said.
Ramonda almost knocked the chair over as she leaped to her feet and swept Nakia up into her bosom.
"Oh my Bast…oh my Bast!" Ramonda blurted with rushed breath.
Shuri simply grinned and gazed across the table at her brother. Ramonda smothered T'Challa with kisses and clutched both their hands in hers.
"Congratulations cuz."
N'Jadaka stood from his seat and gave his cousin a handshake and a loving pat on the shoulder. He kissed Nakia's hand and then her cheek. Sitting back down, he waited to hear what was coming next. For three months he'd been waiting for Nakia to come to him with news of her pregnancy. He caught wind of it early on once he noticed the change in her eating habits and avoidance of certain foods that she once favored. The energy about her shifted into a protective one and sometimes she became lost in her thoughts when he spoke of future plans. Her cheeks plumped up and the layered clothing came next.
"When is the baby coming?" Shuri asked.
"In five months," Nakia said, a sheen of relief falling across her face after revealing her secret.
N'Jadaka leaned back in his seat.
"You will need time off," N'Jadaka said.
"Yes. I am so sorry," Nakia said.
He held up a hand.
"Don't be. Babies come when they are ready to be here."
T'Challa cleared his throat.
"It won't just be time off for a short period of time. We have agreed that she will leave her post as Ambassador for good. We shall be married six months after the baby is born."
Ramonda took her seat with shiny, dancing eyes.
"That gives us time to prepare the proper betrothal march and wedding celebration. The moment we get home Nakia, we must have you moved into the palace," Ramonda said.
Nakia's left hand picked at the linen table cloth and her eyes held N'Jadaka's.
"I apologize again. You had such high hopes for my work and we have put you at a disadvantage. I will help find a suitable replacement," Nakia said.
"I already have one in mind," N'Jadaka said.
"Who?" T'Challa asked.
"Queen Mother Ramonda," N'Jadaka said.
"Excuse me?" Ramonda said, wrenching her eyes away from her future daughter-in-law.
N'Jadaka wiped his lips with a napkin and washed down the last bit of rice particles with his wine. He rested his arms on the table and leaned in.
"You were a decorated Dora Milaje warrior. Your experience as queen qualifies far more than anyone else I can get on board fast. You are the face of the nation that can move our agenda forward in the outside world. I trust you and you're family."
Shuri poked her mother's arm.
"Do it, Mother! You are perfect. Plus it will keep you out of my hair!"
"Shuri! Control your mouth, daughter," Ramonda scolded.
"Will you do it, Mother?" T'Challa asked.
Ramonda gazed at her son with love in her eyes. They swept over to Nakia and she raised an eyebrow.
"I will need some time to think this over," Ramonda said, her head held higher.
Nakia visibly relaxed.
"I will stay on until the Haiti plans are running smoothly with my visit to the ceremonial opening, and then I will tender my resignation officially," Nakia said.
"Ambassador Ramonda Udaku… I like it," Shuri said.
"I do too," T'Challa concurred.
"Are you sure you would want me to step into Nakia's shoes?" Ramonda directed at the king.
Nakia guffawed.
"Step into my shoes? No Queen Mother, your shoes will do quite well. Better than mine in fact," Nakia insisted.
Ramonda placed her fingers against her temples with her elbows on the table.
"This is all so much to take in. My first grandbaby, a wedding to prepare for… a new job. You children have put so much in my basket," Ramonda said.
"I trust you will rise to every occasion," N'Jadaka said.
He reached over from his plate and placed his hand on top of hers.
"I'll have a regal warrior as the face of the nation," N'Jadaka said.
Ramonda took a deep breath, shook her head, then lifted up her wine glass toward T'Challa and Nakia.
"A toast to my son and his future wife… and also to my precious grandbaby," Ramonda said.
They all lifted glasses and clinked them together. The warmth in the room overpowered the air. N'Jadaka felt even more powerful with Ramonda by his side. Bast, Ogum, and the ancestors truly made way for the changes to occur at a time when it was needed.
T'Challa kissed his woman and Nakia melted against him, placing her head on his shoulder. The show of affection made N'Jadaka think of Yani again and all of his children. Nothing meant more than family and connections to people who shared love.
"Two weddings back to back is going to drive our people wild," Shuri said.
Ramonda gave an exaggerated sigh.
"My schedule is going to be so busy with my new Ambassador duties. I'll have to hire a staff the minute we get back to Wakanda… and I want to be on the upper floor in the West Palace overlooking the east side of the river," Ramonda said, tapping N'Jadaka's wrist.
He grinned. She already made up her mind.
The suite door opened and the chef brought in their dessert and coffee. N'Jadaka ate quickly so that he could return to his suite and call Yani back. He wanted her loving eyes on him for the rest of the night. Until then he enjoyed the presence of his cousin T'Challa beaming with the mother of his unborn child.

You’d always admired T’Challa from afar.
He was a man of many things; talent, charm, compassion, care. He warmed the hearts of all those he met, leaving smiles in his wake as he threaded through the world, carving his own legacy in the actions he did. He’d stolen your heart, just as he did everyones. It would only be later that you’d find out that the feat was an intentional one.
Your little escapades started in his princely youth, but with someone with so much to lose, the best gambit was to be like the air that surrounded you two - when it came to your love, the invisibility of it to the regular eye was key. It was a dance the both of you mastered by the time T’Challa had taken on the mantle of Black Panther, taking on newfound abilities that scared the both of you just as much as it deepened your connection with one another.
You took your fears and turned it into something tangible, channeling it into a positive force that could benefit the both of you instead of tearing you down. That is how the first sketches of the new Black Panther suit came to fruition, and with the help of Shuri, the ingenious inventor princess with undeniable sass and wit, the first prototypes were completed within the coming months. While Shuri had been the one to present to the King his new, high tech, insanely more practical Black Panther suit that would aid him in his missions much more efficiently, the comments of its intricacies didn't go unnoticed by the Princess, who was sure to relay them down the pipeline.
However, this was the extent of what you could do to show your affections for T’Challa, and for the most part, you were fine with it. You were busy enough as a scientist working at the most high-tech and top lab in the world; time wasn’t necessarily friendly to you, either. You were satisfied with the meetings and kind smiles and longing stares you two shared.
It never occurred to you that maybe T’Challa wasn’t, or felt that he could be doing more, because when you approached your home one night after clocking out from your shift at the lab, you found a black box with the Golden Tribe insignia etched onto the top. You grabbed the small box and brung it inside with you, setting it on your kitchen island along with the rest of your belongings before directing all of your attention to it.
You examined the outside of it first before curiosity took control of you, and upon opening the box, you were met with something that made your eyes go wide and your heart skip a beat for a few seconds. Inside, lying against a tiny black velvet pillow, was a small charm bracelet with black claw-like gems and obsidian beads. It was a smaller version of the Black Panther necklace you had designed with Shuri, the final prototype that T’Challa now wore as a staple of his everyday attire.
A tiny slip of paper poked out from underneath the velvet pillow, and upon pulling it out and reading it, you smiled: a piece of me, as i have of you.
The next day, you received compliments on the new piece of jewelry that rested on the same wrist as your kimoyo beads. Despite the gushing of the sentimental value it represented for the protector of your nation (and the knowing stare from one princess), only you would know the truth behind it.
