Toronto is known around the world for its cultural diversity, but the 6ix is surprisingly not even on the top ten ranking for Canada's most diverse large cities and was outranked by five other municipalities in Ontario alone. A recent study of Canadian census data produced by e-learning platform Preply revealed that Kitchener ranked as the most diverse large city in the country out of 110 candidates, with a score of 8.33 out of 10. Kitchener's score ranked a full 64 per cent above the national average score of 5.07, with the study noting the 19 per cent of its residents did not live in the city five years earlier, and 27 per cent of the population speaks at least one non-official language at home.

Ingenue vs Gamine: Comparative Essence Analysis
I feel like most people get Ingenue & Gamine essence mixed up. They're easy to confuse because both these essences make the individual look younger than they are and give them a "cute" appearance but there are key differences between the two.
CELEBRITIES WITH INGENUE ESSENCE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
L to R
Nicola Coughlan, Kim Minju
YooA, Miranda Kerr
Hanni, Lin Yun
Gene Tierney, Skai Jackson & Michelle Trachtenberg
If you look at their features, they have full cheeks, mostly big eyes, a small tapered chin, round foreheads and an overall round face. They look very doll-like and innocent. Ingenue is extreme yin essence so these women look very girl-like even when they're much older (Miranda is 40, Nicola is 37)
CELEBRITIES WITH GAMINE ESSENCE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
L to R
Taylor Russell
Zoe Kravitz, Jeongyeon, Dahyun
Seulgi, Devon Aoki, Luda
Kristin Kreuk, Nana Komatsu
All of these women have Gamine essence. Similar to Ingenue essence, all of them look young and cute but while Ingenues have more rounded features, Gamines have a combination of sharp and soft features. Gamine is yin with a dash of yang whereas Ingenue is pure yin. Gamines don't look as "innocent" as Ingenues, they have a kind of mischievous look to them. They're more likely to be cast as the troublemaker who plays silly pranks than the goody two shoes. Ingenues tend to have round faces overall whereas Gamines have more angular faces with pointy chins with smaller eyes and lips. They have a tomboyish charm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
L to R
Park Boyoung & Jun Jihyun- Gamine
Shu Qi & Ni Ni, both Ingenue
Zooey Deschanel, IU & Ariana Grande- Gamine
I wanted to juxtapose Shu Qi & Ni Ni with some Gamines because I feel like because of their features they can be mistyped as Gamines even though they're Ingenues.
One distinguishing trait is their rounded foreheads, this is a very youthful trait because we associate it with babies. Another is how their overall features are rounded not angular, pointy or sharp. They also do not seem "naughty" or "mischievous" looking. Their faces seem softer more delicate as opposed to the Gamines.

This is for people who struggle with personal style and building a wardrobe and stuff like that, because I struggled with it, too:
Determine what you like. Look up various styles: goth, grunge, preppy, casual, tomboy, etc. Mix styles if that's your thing.
If you can't determine what you like (me, too), go create a Pinterest board. Add outfits you like to it, eventually you'll see a common theme. That's your key.
After you figure out your main theme, pay attention to the pieces in its outfits. Chances are, you'll find that there are several pieces that keep recurring, these are your building blocks. These pieces can be as specific as a black Converse, for example, or as general as a-line skirts.
Determine your seasonal colour type. This is a guideline for colours that suit you, you can always play around with it. If you are a person of colour, like me, type 'seasonal colour analysis for people of colour' into the search bar. Most sites deal with the system for white people, and mistype POC into autumn or winter palettes.
Decide a number of colours for your main colours, and a number for neutrals. Build your wardrobe around those colours, and don't stray from them. This is how you get a wardrobe full of pieces that can compliment each other, and that can mix around too create several outfits instead of a certain few that you can't change anything about. This is also how you manage to have a wardrobe full of pieces that all look great on you.
Figure out your body shape and how to flatter it.
You can also look into the Kibbe and Kitchener systems.
Avoid following trends. Please.
After all of this, you'll have an understanding of the style you like, but, for further personalization:
Determine your favourite perfume type. Do you like them sugary and sweet? Spicy? Go to a perfume shop, try a few ones and figure out what you like most.
What sort of accessories do you like? Watches can look elegant and classy, if you want to go for that. Rings can be classy or edgy. Do you like necklaces? Figure it out. You don't have to wear all sorts of accessories. I personally don't like watches and bracelets, so I avoid them when shopping. Balance the impression you'd like to give, with what you actually find comfortable and practical.
Bags. Apply the same process as above.
Makeup too.
Accessories can accent your look. Maybe you like to dress casual, but you want a sprinkle of edginess as well, so play with belts and chains and boots. Apply that everywhere.
Play with all of this, and the personal impression you want to give, and you get a personal aesthetic style, and an actually functional wardrobe.

Aesthetic Aspirations Personality Typology Intimate Layer Quiz V. 0.1
Tumblr media
Link to the quiz: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11iD1quPwGY8VLVn9O52BWl9svmpDDoqHyouyZgROo9k/edit?usp=sharing I'm excited to announce AAPT has it's first quiz available to be taken! For those unfamiliar AAPT is a personality typology I developed. Its inspired by Yin and Yang based styling systems, experience of various different personality typologies, and my experiences as a gnc, queer, and neurodivergent person. AAPT tries to capture different kinds of inner beauty via 7 Aspirations in a body-neutral and gender expansive way. I hope the typology encourages people to explore autonomy over different ways of moving, creating, and loving. To learn more about to interpret your result, I've linked an introductory post about the typology below (after I've written it I've since renamed it from AEPT to AAPT). I plan to eventually make a series that goes into each of the inspirations in detail and should give a better idea about each aspiration implies. To take the quiz, please open the sheets file above, and duplicate the file. You can then read the instructions and fill out the answers column. Your type should be generated in the Result sheet. AAPT includes the ability to devalue an Aspiration, but that is not currently a feature included in the quiz at this time. If anyone has any questions or comments, I'd be eager to hear them ^_^ (image from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Sunrise#/media/File:Lilienstein-sonnenaufgang.jpeg)

"Reciprocity Benefits" cigar
"Uncle Sam - I'll smoke it, you may smell it."
From the Berlin (Kitchener) News Record, September 6 1911
[Context from my pal DN]: The 1911 federal election was the first "free trade" election. In office since 1896, Prime Minister Wilfrid Laurier's Liberals sought their fifth consecutive sweeping majority. President Taft's proposal of lowering tariffs became the central political issue. Wrapped in the Union Jack, Robert Borden's Conservatives opposed free trade and argued that Canada would be taken over by the United States.
The election was close but the Conservatives came out ahead. The entrenched Liberal machine built around Laurier ensured the Liberals carried Quebec, but with a significant loss of seats to the Conservatives. The Liberals also carried Atlantic Canada, but just barely, signalling the crumbling of the old opposition to Confederation in the 1860s in which it was correctly predicted that losing free trade with New England would result in Atlantic Canadian industry being swallowed up by Montreal capital. The predictions came true, and Nova Scotia in particular suffered through a wave of deindustrializatoin in the 1880s and 1890s as Montreal capital bought up local concerns and shuttered them in favour of greater concentrations of industry in Montreal and the St. Lawrence Valley.
In the new prairie provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan, the Liberals continued to dominate as colonization rapidly expanded the number of farmers who quickly found themselves locked into an east-west trade cartel controlled by the rail monopolies of CPR, Canadian Northern, and the Grand Trunk Pacific (the latter two would be nationalized and form Canadian National in 1919). The farmers were incensed that they were blocked from trading south to American markets at cheaper freight rates.
The Conservatives cut into Liberal support in Quebec and Atlantic Canada, but the bulk of its support came from Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia - the three Anglo provinces where industrial capitalism had taken hold during the "Second Industrial Revolution" that began in the 1890s. Not only that, but Ontario, Manitoba and BC were politically dominated by the most militant Anglo founders of Confederation. Through the Orange Terror of the 1870s against the Métis and their democratic allies, and a sustained political struggle against French language schooling rights, the bilingual and multicultural character of Manitoba had been legally and politically extinguished by the mid-1890s (and was a contributing factor to Laurier's Liberals winning the 1896 election, ending 18 years of Conservative rule).
Likewise, British Columbia was politically loyal to the project of Confederation. It had been aggressively established as a British colonial outpost in the 1850s for the Empire's project of a united British North America and establishing a British base in the northwestern Pacific. The 1860s was marked by a series of colonial wars and punitive expeditions by British gunboats, redcoats and settler terrorist groups. Colonial victory was achieved with the deliberate smallpox genocide of Indigenous peoples on Vancouver Island which spread to Haida Gwaii and the mainland. Estimates of 15,000 to 30,000 Indigenous peoples died in a year - half the Indigenous population of Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii. White people in Victoria, population 5,000 in 1862, were busy getting vaccinated, the smallpox vaccine having been discovered decades before available in the Pacific Northwest by the 1850s. By 1911, British Columbia had become a major coal and lumber exporter and the terminus of three new transcontinental railroads (CPR at Port Moody and Granville; Canadian Northern at Port Mann and later Pacific Central Station; Grand Trunk Pacific at Prince Rupert).
It seemed like the Conservatives had re-established their once-powerful "National Policy" coalition of British imperialists, Canadian capitalists and the Anglo working class. However, the Second Industrial Revolution, the two new transcontinental railways, and colonization of the prairies had radically expanded and altered the character of the industrial working class and the role of the state in society. The brewing rebellion of farmers, the Vancouver Coal Wars of 1912-1914, the great IWW strike of the Grand Trunk Pacific in 1913, and the success of state capitalist development (Ontario Hydro Commission - 1906, Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway - 1902, King's Industrial Disputes Investigation Act - 1907) were all harbingers of radical change that exploded with the pressure cooker of the Great War.
Farmers struck out on their own after the war with farmer parties taking power in Ontario (1919), Alberta (1921) and Manitoba (1922). The working-class insurgency of 1919 shook the ruling class and forged a broad and complex vanguard of radical working-class politics and action that formed a foundation for the great class struggles of the 1930s and 1940s.
The Conservatives, during and immediately following the war, were pressed to concede the vote of women, albeit through opportunistic means to win the 1917 election in favour of conscription, nationalize the CNoR and Grand Trunk in 1919, and lose its popular "producer" base that had won it power in 1911 and undergirded its electoral success during the first 30 years of Confederation.
Ever the opportunists, the Liberals under King abandoned the free trade mantra and spent the next 30 years overseeing the renovation of the Canadian state in the interest of capital while playing a ruthless game of stick, carrot and more stick against the growing insurgency of the "producer" classes which had grown too large and self-conscious to contain within a bourgeois two-party system.
The next seventy years would hold to this pattern until the economic base of the farmer and labour movements had sufficiently crumbled by the 1980s, at which point the Progressive Conservatives (a name courtesy of a 1940s merger of the Conservatives and a section of the farmer-based Progressives) pulled the plug on the National Policy of protective tariffs and home market development in favour of free trade with the United States.
With Mulroney's victory in the 1988 "free trade" election and subsequent refusal of provincial governments to challenge the free trade agreement (Bob Rae promised he would during his successful 1990 election campaign), the old 20th century political arrangements have collapsed. The small farmer class has disappeared to political insignificance. The working-class has been radically transformed since deindustrialization and free trade. The three-party political system that dominated the 1919-1990 period has collapsed and been remade with new coalitions of forces and factions - even if the party names carry forward into a new century.
With one "producer" class still standing - the working class - and the colonial and capitalist failures of Confederation coming home to roost at home and abroad, can a new vision and program for Canada be forged by a new working-class movement?

Ahead of Canada Day weekend, the statue of Queen Victoria in Victoria Park has once again been splattered with red paint, according to Waterloo Regional Police. Police were called to the park on Thursday shortly after 7 a.m. when the vandalism was reported. Police believe that the incident had occurred sometime overnight between Wednesday and Thursday. This is at least the fifth time the statue has had a red paint bath over the past few years. The city of Kitchener announced last summer that it was looking for feedback on what to do with the statue which has been in the park since 1911. [...]

Dramatic Essence & Makeup pt 2
I thought I'll make a post about how Dramatic Essence becomes more evident when someone who has it wears makeup (this is especially true if you have both Dramatic & Romantic essences) and how they can look a bit washed out or plain without makeup.
Lisa
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lisa is gorg and makeup helps enhance her Dramatic essence, without makeup she looks younger and cuter
Selena Gomez
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like Lisa, Selena also has Romantic, Dramatic & Ingenue essence and without makeup, the Ingenue essence is more evident than the Rom-Dram one
Rihanna
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Rihanna has the same combination of essences and the drama ✨💅🏼 becomes more evident when she makeup on
Elizabeth Gillies
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Makeup helps enhance sharp features we have. Without makeup we're all Yin and with it our Yang is more apparent.
Odeya Rush
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at how her features pop with makeup?? She already had sharp features but with makeup they became even more obvious.
Ni Ni
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Makeup doesn't have to be heavy for this to work. Even soft makeup can accentuate features.
before you say "everybody looks better with makeup" 🙄🙄no they dont
Aishwarya Rai
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
granted that some of these are just the wrong seasonal colors on her, i still think Aishwarya Rai is one of those people who look better with minimal makeup. in the middle pic, it's just some eyeliner and some lipstick thats similar to her natural lip color and she looks amazing.
Deepika Padukone
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the way her Dramatic essence jumps out with makeup is amazing. you can almost always tell whether or not someone has Dramatic- Romantic essence based on whether or not they look good with a smokey eye look
Haifa Wehbe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she's stunning either way but the smokey eye really makes her eyes pop even moreee
