Marvel Worlds project plan: Knights of Wundagore (Vol. 1)
Tumblr media
This series is not an assured project. It is a concept that can still be changed or scrapped.
Synopsis
Following the departure of the High Evolutionary, the inhabitants of Counter-Earth start to experience diversions of faith. Some maintain a loyal worship of their creator while others have searched for new beliefs or given up altogether. The story follows Lady Shadra, a Knight of Wundagore with mixed beliefs on faith as she investigates strange sightings of an otherworldly being.
Characters
Ava Shadra - An anthropomorphic cat and knight of the Counter-Earth capital of Wundagore. She is very committed to her role. When strange occurrences are reported, she leads the investigation.
Cyra Fitzgerald - The benevolent queen of Counter-Earth. She is an anthropomorphic white tiger created by the High Evolutionary.
Waylyn Vermin - An anthropomorphic white rat and a knight of Wundagore. She is very smart and a bit geeky. Her heart is always in the right place.
High Technician - A robotic assistant to the High Evolutionary. He uses the peoples' faith in the High Evolutionary to manipulate him. He wants to control everything like his master once did, although he lacks his methods.
Other Information
Wundagore is inspired by locations in the Blade Runner film franchise.

personally i think its really obvious that pietro is in marvel dungeon because of the mcu. i mean the comics exist predominately as fodder for the mcu atp. The avengers is mostly only mcu relevant characters and he can't be in x titles anymore cause of the retcon. In that way I do think he was impacted much more then wanda since she is still mcu popular so she doesnt get shafted from most avengers stuff + like you said the magic stuff gives her more opportunities. ironic that his return is in an x-men orientated avengers book lmao. Do you have any ideas how they can keep him regularly appearing assuming he cant be in main avengers or x men books still?
Well, the obvious answer is just to put him in secondary or "adjective" Avengers books. I don't think anything is stopping Marvel from running multiple Avengers titles-- they've been doing it for years. The whole line is kind of relaunching right now, so they could do anything. And while I do agree that the M C U has a lot of undue influence on comics, it's not total. It might be hard to swing another Quicksilver solo series right now, but if writers are interested in including him in their lineups, they can find a way to make it happen.
As far as I'm aware, the current Uncanny is a miniseries, but we could see more things like it in the future-- it's looking more and more like the Krakoan era is coming to an end, and the strict boundaries between X-Men and non-X-Men titles have been loosening for a while now.
A couple other strategy ideas to boost Pietro's relevance--
Allowing the Inhumans to come back in some way would be helpful, because having Luna and/or Crystal around would create another landing place for him.
I would really like to write/read a story about Pietro and Luna for Marvel's Voices. Luna would be a great character to start a conversation about Romani heritage-- what it means to her dad, versus what it means to her as somebody that's mixed and grew up outside of the culture; why it's important for her to reconnect with that and figure out how she feels about now that she's coming of age. Obviously, that's not going to do much for Pietro's presence in ongoing comics, but I think it would be special and it would help readers understand him better.
Between Agatha and Wanda, we've been circling some interesting stuff about chaos magic, Mount Wundagore, witches and covens. If Wanda shows up for some kind of reckoning or resolution with all that, I want her to show up with her whole family, representing one of the most powerful witch lineages in the Marvel world. That could be Tommy and Pietro's way in to the magic world, and even if they don't become magical characters, you could still find a role for them to play that would allow them to stay in that orbit more often.
^ the above point would be especially relevant to Pietro if Mount Wundagore ends up being an important setting again. It's his home, just as much as it is Wanda's, and he used to be really involved with the Knights and stuff.
The main Avengers title has been global, even cosmic, in scale for a long time. I think a spin-off or side series à la Avengers West Coast with slightly more down-to-earth heroes could be a really fun companion to that. There are a lot of really fun characters that are just not being used much anymore, and Pietro is ostensibly friends with a lot of them. He fits in pretty well with the sort of team you might build around, say, Hawkeye, you know?

Avengers #187 (Gruenwald, Grant & Michelinie/Byrne, July 1979). Wanda is briefly possessed and turns on her friends, kinda unintentionally foreshadowing the upcoming Dark Phoenix saga… But Beast saves the day by suiting up as a Knight of Wundagore.

Theories for Wanda's future in the MCU
As I mentioned in my previous post (My thoughts on MoM [with spoilers!]), I have some theories about what happens to Wanda now. And since this theory involves a lot of what happened in MoM, I'll put it under the cut and with spoiler tags. You have been warned!
This theory involves a rumor about Marvel possibly planning to adapt The Children's Crusade (CC) in the MCU. For those who haven't read the comic, I'll highlight a few points that are important to the theory:
Billy has an unstable moment with his magic, where he ends up killing several enemies to protect Ted (his boyfriend). This leads the Avengers (and even the Young Avengers themselves) to believe that he may be one of the lost children of the Scarlet Witch
The Avengers want to contain Billy by imprisoning him, but he knows they'll end up doing to him what they did to Wanda so he runs away
In the meantime, Billy feels Wanda's magic and knows she's alive, even though no one believes him. Magneto appears and says he's right, asking the children to help him find his daughter.
They go to Mount Wundagore, but she's not there. They end up in Latveria, where they find Wanda but without her memories. There, she's about to marry Dr. Doom.
This is enough to understand the theory I want to propose. So let's see the points of MoM (and the MCU in general) that make me believe that CC can indeed happen (and how it can happen):
Wanda didn't die. Being a Nexus being and by the nature of her magic, Wanda is incapable of dying (or rather, remaining dead). Not to mention that in MoM itself we saw her endurance. She literally goes through that gong all broken and deformed and is completely fine. The Darkhold Fortress didn't kill her, but it may have been enough to do enough damage for her to be badly injured and lose her memories.
Billy and Tommy don't exist in the main MCU universe, but we have two possibilities. The first (and more unlikely) is that, as in the comics, the souls of the children created by Wanda in the Hex, "reincarnate" into other children. Or, the variant Billy and Tommy will somehow be brought into the MCU, there are several possibilities as to how that would go. Since Wanda (variant) has powers, it's possible to deduce that Billy (variant) does too
In the case of using Billy (variant), since he's already met Wanda (MCU), he "knows" Wanda's magic, he'd be able to "feel" her, as he did in the comics
There's strong evidence that Latveria has already appeared in the MCU, in the Moon Knight series, when he wakes up in that strange country and meets Harrow for the first time
Agatha may play the role of Magneto in the CC adaptation. In the MCU, no one knows more about the Scarlet Witch than Agatha, who has studied about her for years to try to find her. News of Wanda's sacrifice will go around the world, and Agatha is sure to hear about it. And she knows that Wanda can't die, that she must be somewhere, and she goes after her. So Agatha goes after the twins, because of Billy's magic, which is very similar to Wanda's. As Agatha said in WandaVision, "you're gonna need me".. Maybe to "bring her back". This could be addressed in Agatha: House of Harkness, not as the main theme, but maybe as a secondary theme or even in a post-credit scene.
So, these are the main points for my theory that there'll be a Children's Crusade adaptation for the MCU. I think Agatha's series can bring a lot of interesting things to Wanda's return, but I don't think this return will happen soon.
But what do you think? Do you agree with this theory or do you think it's completely crazy? Any points to add? I'd love to know your thoughts!

propaganda under the readmore
Hector Ayala: He's a badass and a sweetheart, street-level vigilante, campaigned for Black and Hispanic education rights, was buddies with Peter Parker in university, and passed his legacy to his niece and sister! He got screwed over royally when Marvel decided to kill him off for a Daredevil plotline...after years of established character development.
Git Hoskins: We love tragic guys here, so I'm throwing my kid in the ring. He's the result of being kidnapped and used as an experiment for the Knights of Wundagores. Pissed about that so he joined the human resistance. Never seen this kid talk. Gave candy shaped bombs to the Knights this one time. Great hacker. Has this Ability to just unravel himself which is super cool. So in love with him

Does Pietro Maximoff in the comics have a job? If he does, what is it? If he doesn't, what do you think his job could and should be?
The one actual job I think Pietro had was when he was a teacher in Avengers Academy. His teaching methods were... interesting.
Tumblr media
He did really care about his students though, and he formed a friendship with Finesse!
Tumblr media
Pietro has been mostly on teams since he was a teenager, Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Avengers, X-Factor, or working with the Inhumans, or working for mutant rights, and he was a Knight of Wundagore too but it's not like a normal type of job so I think Teacher is the closest to a normal job he's ever had, though he did try to get a job at the circus back in his Kooky Quartet days, Avengers (1963) #22
Tumblr media
I do think Pietro works best when he is on the X-Factor team, because it's really the only team book where I feel you get the best out of his character rather than having him as a background character in Avengers.
Honestly for a job Pietro should have; teaching Mutant or Superpowered Kids is what I would want him to do again, he's pretty good at it and I think he would get bored at any other normal type of job.

Darkstar reread
Ok, gonna try to finish this storyline up tonight. Iron Man #11 confirms that these are indeed The Knights of Wundagore. Space fight shit happens. Laynia isn’t there so I don’t really read it. Laynia sends a message to Tony’s HQ, Madame Masque (who is normally bad guy but kinda not rn because she’s in love with Iron Man?) receives it and tells her that Tony is resting rn, because this is the era where Tony’s identity as Iron Man is secret, so Laynia doesn’t know that Iron Man is Tony. Laynia informs MM that the alien egg is about to hatch. Also despite not introducing themselves to each other, MM addresses Laynia as “Darkstar” and Laynia her as “Madame” so do they know each other from some adventure? This is her only appearance, the rest is alien shit and finding out how the High Evolutionary evolved the New Men on another planet after leaving earth. Perhaps Iron Man #112 will have more meat for my dear Darkstar! Let’s find out! While Iron Man and Jack of Hearts have more alien drama, the Russians continue to wait outside the egg. Vanguard complains about this passive approach, while Darkstar reminds him that they have their orders from Moscow. I find it interesting how Darkstar is simultaneously the most disobedient AND the most obedient of the lot. Like, she’s not unruly or rebellious at all in the way, say, Wolverine is, she’s very “let’s play by the rules and do as we’re told” and quite sensible and levelheaded typically. But we’ve also seen that her own moral compass will eventually steer her in other directions if there’s really good reason. Honestly, I like that. The “rebel” stock character who pushes back against authority just to do so, or because they “don’t like being told what to do” just tends to bore and annoy me. Laynia isn’t that. She’s a team player and doesn’t make waves unnecessarily or think she’s too cool to take orders…but she’s not thoughtlessly obedient either. Her rebellion is always done out of ethics and compassion, not contrarianism. I really like that. I also just like when characters go against type or avert cliches, like when the “rebel” isn’t who you’d expect. And this is in 1978, not a time I typically associate with averting cliche! Also she’s lounging on a bunch of moon rocks like it’s a couch and I just love that. Anyway, the egg opens up and a spaceman shoots out, rocketing past them, heading for Earth. Vanguard suggests she could catch it using her Darkforce, she says it might be a decoy to lure them away and “my place is here” and that the Earth has other heroes. Not sure what I think of this logic, tbh. Like really that seems an…odd rationale, especially for her? She’s shown that she does think very sensibly, so her thinking it could be a decoy doesn’t seem strange to me, but saying “Earth has other heroes” just doesn’t seem like a thing she’d reason. But I’m also not totally sure I’d say this is totally OOC either. Hmm. Something for me to chew on at last! Anyway, Iron Man shoots out after the alien, and immediately validates her decision by signaling to the Soviets to stay put while he goes after it, and Laynia concludes that the danger to Earth must be (1) great and (2) not limited to that sole alien. I guess it does make sense for her to take the “what is the greatest threat to the greatest amount of people” view. Then the Soviets catch sight of Jack of Hearts holding back loads of spacemen, and they at last get to join the fight that Vanguard was spoiling for. Vanguard is happy, and Laynia doesn’t hesitate either. She’s certainly not a coward. It ends up coming to a hilariously anti-climactic end when a representative of the alien’s government shows up and tells that aliens that they were attempting to colonize without authority, so the leader of this mission is now under arrest. Everyone goes home to their respective worlds, the end. Saved by bureaucracy! Anyway, while I didn’t learn terribly much new about Laynia, I did like going back to a story I’d forgotten and seeing why I had the impressions about her that I did—that she’s the least likely on her squad to leap to violence, that she will try to talk things out, that she’s not impulsive, that she thinks men are, etc. I also DID get a little surprise too there at the end that does give me something to ponder. So, worth the read!

What are some of your favorite comics you own? What comics do you collect? :)
Oh that’s tough… I have a lot of comic issues and some various omnibus ones.
I always like ‘first issues’ and the first appearances. I have a lot of first appearances for mutants because X-Men was always my favourite series. I have almost every issue of Uncanny X-Men containing Kitty Pryde 😅 which is a lot, right from her and Emma Frosts first appearance in the comics onwards. I love her first appearance, but I think my favourites I own of her are maybe her solo-ish series (Wolverine and Kitty Pryde, Shadow and Flame, and Mekanix) for the growth and I liked the storylines itself! But I have a soft spot for the fairy tales issue early on where Kitty tells Illyana bedtime stories - such as Kurt the pirate and Lockheed.
I have the first few issues of the first Moon Knight run, but not actual first appearances but I actually like those ones a lot just to see how far they’ve come from there. Especially when looking at a the newer runs.
And of course I have many comic issues with Wanda. So many. I have a few West Coast Avengers ones which, whilst they have a lot of issues, I like seeing the team building and character building - and going through the WandaVision relationship at the time. I enjoy her solo runs. I have nights of Wundagore which was interesting, and it’s interest puts it up on the list. The 2016 solo run was actually really well done, and that goes up here too. It’s hard to pick an absolute favourite 😅 there’s so many.
And overall, I have many, (too) many variant editions because of the art work. They aren’t always my favourite in terms of the stories but comic art and cover art can be so beautiful. I have a few signed Spider-Gwen variant covers, I love the Blondie one and the Stacy where the f**k are you (Putri). And the Skottie Young ones. And way too many Wanda variants to name tbh.

The Scarlet Knight II W. Maximoff: A Fantasy AU
Tumblr media
Pairing: (dark) Queen!Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch x Knight!Reader
Summary: The Scarlet Witch has an entire chapter devoted to her in the Darkhold. Part of that chapter speaks about you, the Scarlet Knight; destined to serve the Scarlet Witch when she arrives at her castle at Mount Wundagore.
Writer’s notes:
I’m still not sure about how I will connect the main parts, so please note that there are no real stakes to these main parts.
This is a Fantasy AU. That being said, I take some inspiration from Game of Thrones and of course Marvel itself. Magic is a thing in this AU so that’s gonna be fun.
Each chapter will have its own warnings attached, there’s only one general warning for this series: Wanda Maximilf/the Scarlet Milf.
A big thank you to @furys-eyepatch for helping me with this and giving me inspiration.
As a final note: I’ll accept asks and drabble/blurb requests for this specific AU at any time. I can’t promise I will write them immediately, but I can promise that I will eventually.

If you were to write a What If? story with Wanda and/or any of the Maximoffs what would the premise be? And what kind of cool stuff would you do for her?
I've got a few ideas. Some of these are kind of basic...
What if Wanda and Pietro had joined the X-Men? It's been done before, but I'm mostly interested in bringing Wanda closer to Illyana and Madelyne. They have a lot of common experiences and similar trauma, and they all tend to be polarizing figures. What would it look like if the three of them were striving together for liberation and freedom-- what lengths would they go to, and who would oppose them?
What if Natalya had saved Wanda and Pietro from the High Evolutionary? Growing up as the Scarlet Witch's successors, they would have been prepared to confront Chthon much earlier. What if they took back Mount Wundagore and turned it into a magical sanctuary, with Pietro leading the Knights? Would that bring them into conflict with Agatha, or would she be their ally?
What if Wanda had joined forces with Victoria Montessi and the Darkhold Redeemers? Kind of the opposite of the last one, I imagine Wanda sacrificing her chaos magic abilities to banish Chthon. Where does she go from there?
What if Billy and Tommy had never died and were raised by Wanda and the Vision? House of M wouldn't have happened, for one thing, and the Young Avengers probably wouldn't exist. I imagine the twins striking out as young superheroes with their cousin Luna, who would be sort of older sister figure since she was born first, and there's no retro-reincarnation...
What if Billy and Tommy were synthezoids? How would you translate their canon powers and personalities in that setting? I think Tommy would be better at flight and density manipulation while Billy would excel at holograms and solar energy projection.
... but I've got a couple that are more fleshed out.
What if Wanda had gone through with marrying Doctor Doom? The basis of their canon relationship is not really healthy or consensual, but I do think these characters have a lot in common, and we've seen that Wanda, with her memories and agency, is more than capable of keeping Victor in line. Introducing Wanda to Latveria's political sphere would be super interesting, and I think that Victor would be very earnest in protecting her and her family. Billy and Tommy would be made princes, and I like to imagine Pietro becoming Doom's Herald and receiving the Power Cosmic instead of Zora. Maybe he and Zora could have a little fling? I feel like they actually have really compatible personalities.
On a more serious note, what would it look like if Victor and Wanda had worked together to uncover the true Darkhold and bind Chthon? Imagine how powerful Latveria would become with an emancipated Wanda as its queen-- and all of the personal and moral challenges that would present to her. But with Latveria becoming such a major power, Billy's marriage to Teddy would unite Latveria with the Kree and Skrull peoples, which could get all kinds of complicated. A lot of people have done the political space-marriage thing with HoM AUs, so it's not a new concept, but it is a fresh angle.
What if Wanda had channelled the Phoenix to resurrect her sons? Walk with me here-- let's assume for this AU that the Maximoffs are mutants. This idea originated as a way to streamline the events of the late 2000s and early 2010s, and end the Decimation saga with Wanda's name cleared and the mutants in a more stable position.
Wanda is immediately overwhelmed and goes Dark Phoenix-- and in the ensuing battle, Pietro is killed trying to protect her. Wanda resurrects him, and, in a state of rage, unleashes the Decimation before disappearing. The events of Young Avengers and Son of M follow as they did in canon, but this time, Billy, Tommy, and Pietro are all harboring a shard of the Phoenix Force. When they eventually find Wanda in Latveria, she regains her memories, and they become the Phoenix Four. The events of Children's Crusade lead directly an AvX scenario, with the Avengers and X-Men vying to either eliminate or control the Maximoff family, who only want to use their power the fix the damage Wanda caused in the first place. Eventually, Hope steps up and helps Wanda dispel the Phoenix for good, and in doing so, reverses the Decimation completely. Then everything gets to be, like, relatively normal until Krakoa.
