kogagoshi fanfic rec list !!

+ some sort of sendai frogs fics!!!

hello hello hello! ヾ(•ω•`)o it’s me, casper, back with another fic rec list! kogagoshi is one of my all time favourite ships, so i’ve compiled some into this list!! there are, unfortunately, not many kogagoshi centric fics, so i thought this list might help my fellow kogagoshi shippers!!! feel free to add your own recs/recommend some to me !!!

As always, be careful, and make sure to check tags and warnings before reading !!!

there is no particular order to this! fics marked with an astric are my absolute favourite fics!!! fics marked with a frog emoji (🐸) include the sendai frogs!!!

Remember Our Youth by bumbl3b33 (NR) 4,729 words, 1/1, [Kogagoshi] --- Goshiki thought about their time together in high school for the next few days.

He thought about their brushing hands and wide smiles. He thought about the feeling he got, something warm but aching, when he looked at Koganegawa Kanji. Most of all, though, he thought about what would have happened if he had done something, anything. What would’ve happened if he had leaned over and pressed their lips together? Maybe he could’ve done it when they played video games, sitting at the foot of Goshiki’s bed. Maybe he could’ve done it when they sat down in the grass after playing volleyball in the park. There were so many possibilities that he didn’t know the answer to. Although, he knew one thing for sure. Koganegawa had no business showing up and confusing Goshiki all over again.

this is!! so adorable!! perfectly encompasses kogagoshi’s idiot energy; the odd umbrella backstory is so funny.

**E-Mail My Heart by asynchrony, girlkita (peerlessbellbird) (T) 4,754 words, 1/1, [Kogagoshi, Ushiten-ish, Aofuta-ish] --- Hey Koganegawa-san, what’s the deal with this picture? I’m not sure I understand what a sexy truck is, but I showed it to Tendou and he forwarded it to himself on my phone. He hasn’t stopped laughing about it for the last two hours either. Koganegawa and Goshiki exchange emails, and then much more.

GWAHHHH!!! they’re so cute!!! just two silly awkward teens with their first crushes. kogane is so cute :’). HE CALLS STUFFED ANIMALS “SOFTIES”, IT’S ADORABLE!!!

SENDAI FROGS CONTENT>>>. and once again, we get kogagoshi being idiots (in love), and tsukishima and kyoutani try to get them together. (fair warning, you might not like the tsukishima and kyoutani characterisation in this, it depends!!)

soldiered storms by AP0LL0S (g) 1,249 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi] --- “I’m proud of you.” Goshiki spoke softly. “Why?” or,, where the sendai frogs lose an important match and koganegawa has to face his emotions

so cute :’). just goshiki being an amazing partner, and sad kogane. very good hurt/comfort. i normally see kogane comforting goshiki, so this was a nice change of pace, though i like both !!!

**a snack by poutyongs (g) 2,575 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi] --- Koganegawa uses a pickup line on Goshiki without much thought, except Goshiki is painfully oblivious to anything that is not volleyball related.

THIS. this is exactly how i imagine their dynamic. goshiki is so oblivious :’). kogane having fun with the pickup lines, as he should!! ‘shiki trying to figure out the pickup lines is hilarious. absolutely freaking adorable!!!

nickname by kogagoshi (g) 1,131 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi] --- After training camp, Koganegawa exchanges emails with Goshiki (and gives him a nickname, too).

goshiki is flustered + panicking so hard, and i love him :’). i genuninely can’t tell if kogane is just dense, or intentionally teasing him. knowing him, it’s probably all of the above. just a cute, short little fic !!

There’s more to life than just volleyball, Tsutomu by WaterBear45 (t) 1,792 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi, semishira] --- “I guess now you know why I didn’t come to practice.” “Um… I do?” Goshiki squeaked. Semi frowned pulling down his hood and revealing a collection of matching red marks on his neck. “Haven’t you seen a hickey before?” “Oh!” Goshiki’s hands spasmed at his sides, balling into fists. “Sure! Lots of times!”

this fic is?? so weird?? and i don’t know how to feel about it?? not in a bad way!! it’s just- you need to read it to understand what i mean <(＿　＿)>. i do genuinely reccomend it, though!!

The Rather Unfortunate Circumstance of Goshiki Tsutomu by london_artfully (t) 2,919 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi, ushiten, minor semishira] --- Shiratorizawa's third years know that Goshiki has a boyfriend... but Goshiki hasn't quite realized it himself. They feel the need to do something about this.

of angry birds and rainy days by london_artfully (g) 637 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi] --- On a simple rainy day at Kogane's house after practice, Goshiki introduces his boyfriend to a certain mobile game.

breaking point by london_artfully (g) 715 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi] --- Goshiki wasn’t like Date Tech, an iron wall. He wasn’t unbreakable, and he broke far more often than one might think. Why did everything have to bother him so much?

i genuninely love this series so much, it is spectacular. all of the fics in it are amazing, and i sing nothing but praises. please, please, check these fics out.

🐸 **Scaredy Frogs by copyrightings (t) 4,835 words, 1/1, [tsukiyama, kyouhaba, kogagoshi] --- In a feeble attempt to find out which one is scarier, Koganegawa finds himself actually becoming good friends with the Sendai Frogs' most terrifying players, Tsukishima and Kyoutani. To be honest though, he doesn't even understand why people think they're scary in the first place until he meets their partners...

even though this isn’t strictly kogagoshi centric, i just HAD to include this. kogane POV fics are suprisingly rare?? so this was like a breath of fresh air. this fic is hilarious, and i adore it. the sendai frogs are all so whipped. please read this :’).

**Ankle Weights by sophie_scribblz (g) 3,150 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi, ushiten] --- How big of a crush can you develop on someone in less than a week, anyway? Not that he has a crush on someone, no, that would be dumb. He barely knows the guy; there’s no way he has a crush on him. Yeah.

But then there’s the heart fluttering and there’s the weak knees and oh, for the first time he wants someone else’s mouth on his and it all seems so appealing all of the sudden— but that’s dumb, because he barely knows the guy.

He’s a little silly, Tsutomu supposes, the guy he likes. Tall, with about four times the amount of enthusiasm you’d think should be able to fit inside his body. Clumsy, but in a charming sort of puppy-dog way that makes you want to pat his head and tell him he did a good job.

But then there’s his laugh, the way his eyes squeeze shut and this sound that embodies his joy bursts forth, bright and loud, just like everything else about him does. There’s his drive to be better, the fact that every time his upperclassmen told him he was hopeless, it only made him want to practice more. His generosity, his passion, his never ending kindness. And he gives the warmest hugs.

(Sure, his hair is a little silly but Tsutomu will let that one slide)

i don’t really know how to describe my love for this fic but,,, they are so sweet, and soft, and i love them (and this fic) so much.

Say That You'll Hold Me Forever by snazzy_scarf (g) 6,259 words, 1/1, [kogagoshi] --- Goshiki's had a crush on Koganegawa for some time now, and finds himself getting flustered at every little thing he says. Is he flirting with him, or is it just wishful thinking? Maybe a series of awkward conversations and loving gestures will help him find out.

this one’s a lot longer than all the other recs, but it’s real good!! the first one is an outsider pov from lev, and the second one is just a normal fic from goshiki pov. it’s just all very soft and silly. they’re both dense, and it’s quite cute :)

Summary: You’re a second-year and Karasuno’s female manager. Before Nationals, all the volleyball teams come together for a training camp at Aoba Johsai. Almost all the volleyball boys take a liking to you—even the boys on the Karasuno team.

“Hey, Y/N, you’ve got another note,” Yukie says as everyone enters the managers’ room. It’s always in the same place as the last few days, sitting on the pillow of your cot. You go over to read it while Yukie stands next to you, bubbling with curiosity. “What’s it say? What’s it say?” You figure you’d indulge her.

“It says: ‘Good job today, Y/N. Seeing you work hard makes me want to too! You inspire me every day, so thank you! Have a good rest of your day!’” you read.

“Oh! Please tell me it’s signed this time,” she pleads. You inspect the note some more but see no indication of a signature.

“Nothing,” you say, defeated. She frowns too.

“Aw, I wanna who your secret admirer is,” she says. You start to feel warm.

“Yukie, I’m sure it’s not like that. They’re just… it’s just…they probably think I’m cool or something,” you brush off. The idea that it’s a secret admirer is foreign to you.

“Awww, come on, wouldn’t it kinda fun if it was?” Yukie is not letting up on you. You become even warmer.

“It doesn’t really matter because the cards are never signed,” you point out.

“Oh, you’ve got a point,” Yukie thinks for a minute. “We’ll just have to catch them in the act.”

“You think it’ll be that easy?” you question.

“Hopefully,” she shrugs.

The two of you cut your losses and start getting ready for some lunch. You’d been pretty hungry since the second practice match, so you’re pretty excited to get some lunch. You and Yukie leave the manager’s room and head to the dining room and run into Kiyoko and Hana.

“Hey guys,” Hana greets you both. “How have you guys been?”

“Pretty good,” you respond.

“Guys, guess what?” Yukie chirps excitedly.

“What?” Hana and Kiyoko both ask, and Yukie gets a mischievous grin.

“Y/N got another secret admirer note,” she tells them, and you roll your eyes.

“Really?” Hana asks, also getting excited.

“You did?” Kiyoko asks as well.

“Uh, well—” you get cut off by Yukie.

“Yup, it was waiting for her on her pillow,” Yukie says matter-of-factly.

“What did it say?” Hana asks.

“It said that Y/N inspires them and that they want to work hard just like Y/N,” Yukie remembers.

“That’s so cute!” Hana claps her hands together.

“Right? I really wanna know who is writing these notes,” Yukie says.

“I’m quite curious myself. Whoever they are, they really like Y/N,” Kiyoko joins in with the excitement. Their excitement is almost contagious.

When you finally enter the dining hall, you grab your food and sit with the other managers at a table. Yukie once again tells the other managers of your secret admirer note. Everyone is just as intrigued as Yukie is.

“Giving you notes is so romantic,” Mai gushes. “I’m almost jealous.”

“I guess I never gave them much thought,” you explain. “They don’t always seem romantic to me.”

“What?” Kaori utters in disbelief. “Someone is taking the time to write you cute little notes. How does that not have romantic connotations?” Everyone agrees with her.

“So, we’ve been wondering who it could possibly be,” Yukie gets everyone to huddle in a bit. “Does anyone have any theories?”

“Oooh, theories,” Hana and the rest of the group think about this for a good long minute. While they’re thinking, you’re trying to figure out their theories, you think of your own. You look around the dining hall at the other people. Who would possibly do this? You look to the team tables and see all the boys eating their lunches and chatting. You see your own team, and you try to visualize any one of them writing you a secret note. You can’t really see anyone from Karasuno doing that. You do this with every team you can see, and you really can’t imagine anyone writing you notes, and you certainly know it’s not one of the managers. If it was a manager, they would’ve come forward by now, especially with the others wanting to investigate the secret.

“Okay, I’ve come up with some people,” Hana says. She looks at the group before continuing. “Goshiki, Bokuto, and Yamaguchi.” Everyone is surprised at the group mentioned. And everyone proceeds to discuss.

“I don’t know about Goshiki,” Yachi says. “Isn’t he a little focused on volleyball?”

“Yeah, he is. I think he wouldn’t really have the time to write secret notes like that,” Mai agrees. “And he would probably be caught pretty easily too.”

“However, as for Bokuto…I can see him doing it,” Kiyoko thinks about the second contestant. “The contents of the note are phrases he is most likely to use, and I have a feeling he would have help from his friends to be secretive.” Her analysis really does sound spot on.

“Wow, yeah, those are all good points, and they are all things he’d do,” Kaori says.

“That is exactly what I thought, too,” Hana declares proudly.

“Okay, then Bokuto is our first suspect,” Yukie says.

“Yamaguchi…I don’t think it’s him either,” Runa says.

“Why not?” Hana asks.

“Well, if it were…why start the notes now?” Runa mentions. “I mean, why now and not when you guys were at school and not at a training camp.”

“Oh, that’s a really good point,” you agree, and she is right.

“Well, there goes my Ennoshita, and Asahi thought,” Mai jokes. The group does some more thinking until…

“Wait, here’s more,” Kaori breaks the silence, and everyone looks at her. “Kita, Tendou, and Yaku.”

“Huh, interesting,” Hana utters.

“Yeah, interesting,” Runa copies.

“Personally, I think Kita and Yaku are good candidates but Tendou… I’m not so sure,” Mai seems hesitant with the Tendou theory.

“Why’s that?” Kaori asks.

“Well, I mean, I don’t think Tendou would do something like that. I think that if he had any feelings toward Y/N…he would just tell her straight instead of these little notes,” Mai explains.

“That does seem more like Tendou,” you agree.

“Okay, so far we have Bokuto, Kita, and Yaku,” Yukie counts with the help of her fingers.

“Pretty good list,” Kiyoko says.

“All right, then we have our boys!” Yukie celebrates. “We will then start our investigation.” Everyone cheers, and you can’t help but feel a bit nervous.

After lunch, you join Yachi and Kiyoko at the gym for a practice match with Karasuno and Date Tech. Unfortunately, no one in Date Tech is in your investigation, so you don’t have much reason to keep an extra eye on the players.

“How are you feeling about all this?” Kiyoko asks you; she seems genuinely concerned for you.

“Alright, I guess, I do want to find out who writes the notes but…” you trail off.

“But?” she prompts you to continue.

“But I feel like we’re going a little overboard,” you admit.

“Well, the other managers do like to do things all the way, especially when it comes to things like this,” she explains.

“I guess you’re right,” you agree.

“But if it becomes too much for you,” she gets concerned again.

“I think it’ll be okay,” you shrug.

“But if we do find out who it is, will your feelings for them change?” she poses a critical question. You hadn’t even thought about that part. You assumed they probably would. You think back to the people that were suggested. Do you like them? Would you start liking them? Would things change? Would things become awkward? All very important questions.

“I don’t know,” you admit to her.

“I think it’s something to think about,” she says. “Until then, we need to set up for the practice match with Date Tech.”

“Right,” you agree, and the two of you begin getting chairs to sit on and getting the water bottles ready. You help Yachi to get the volleyballs in order and ready to go too. After that, everyone begins the practice match with ease. The game starts with Daichi throwing up a serve and the ball going over to their libero Sakunami who receives it easily. The ball gets to Moniwa, who sets it for Futakuchi, who spikes it over, but Nishinoya receives it before it hits the floor. This back and forth goes on for a bit until Hinata scores a point using Bokuto’s spike technique.

“Yeah! Good job, little man!” Tanaka gives Hinata high fives.

“Yeah!” Hinata cheers. “Kageyama, did you see that spike? It was amazing! Bokuto taught me that!”

“I don’t care,” Kageyama says in a calm rage. Hinata pouts, and the game continues. After a little bit, you look to the other team and see that Koganegawa is getting antsy. You can tell that he’s seemingly jumping in place when he’s still and having extra fast reflexes when he runs.

“Moni, send me the next set,” Koganegawa begs Moniwa, who reluctantly agrees. When Aone does the next serve, the ball goes up and goes straight to Tsukishima, who just barely receives it in time. The ball is sent to Kageyama, who sets it for Asahi, but at the last second, Kageyama does a setter dump. The ball goes back over to Date Tech, and Sakunami digs out the ball, and it goes to Moniwa. Moniwa sets it for Koganegawa, who came at the ball with a running start. The set is high, and Koganegawa spikes it down hard, and Nishinoya just misses it.

“Yes!” Koganegawa celebrates, and the rest of his teammates congratulate him. The whistle then blows as that was the end of the set with Date Tech winning.

“Damn, next time guys,” Daichi reassures the team.

“That spike was pretty amazing, huh,” Yachi points out.

“Yeah, it sure was,” you agree.

Kiyoko, you, and Yachi then begin to compare your game notes with one another before clearing out the area for the next game. As you’re doing so, you happened to run upon Koganegawa as he’s taking a break.

“Hey,” you greet.

“Hello,” he seems excited, probably from that win.

“That was a really god spike you did,” you compliment, and he seems to blush and get flustered.

“Really? Thank you,” his shyness is cute.

“Of course! I think it really through our team for a loop,” you admit.

“It did? Well, that’s pretty awesome,” you can see him get quite a bit of confidence from that. “And thanks for your kind words. They mean a lot.” His new phrase makes you a bit flustered now.

“Oh? Really? I don’t know about that,” you nervously scratch your neck.

“Well, sure, you work really hard, and you’re definitely cool, so…” he trails off a bit.

“Oh, uh, thank you very much,” you’re not sure what to say.

“Anytime,” he says, and you can feel your heart flutter a little. Just then, Kiyoko calls out to you, and you must leave to go to another gym for the next practice match.

“Oh, gotta go. I’ll see you,” you wave goodbye and dash over to Kiyoko.

“Bye!” he waves back and returns to his own teammates.

You join Kiyoko and go to the next gym. The following practice match is with Fukuroudani. You see Kaori and Yukie already inside; they look almost defeated.

“Are you guys okay?” you ask them.

“We interrogated Bokuto, and it looks like he’s not our guy,” Kaori pouts.

“Yeah, sorry, Y/N,” Yukie apologizes.

“Uh, guys, don’t worry about it. It’s okay, really,” you reassure them.

“Okay,” Kaori still seems defeated.

“I guess we have Kita and Yaku left then,” Yukie says.

“Guess so,” Kaori agrees.

After that, you are all set up for the game, and it begins. The game is pretty exciting, just like always. Even though you’re technically supposed to think about Yaku and Kita being the potential note writers and that they may have feelings for you…you can’t help but to think back to your moment with Koganegawa. It was sweet. You never expected to have a moment with him, but you’re glad it happened.

As the game goes on, you see Yukie give you a look from the court. The look of “find an excuse and meet me outside.” You don’t usually like to be dishonest about leaving the team and coaches, but for some reason, you feel compelled to indulge in whatever Yukie has planned. So, you devise an excuse to leave and go outside and meet with Yukie.

“What’s up?” you ask her.

“I was thinking you and I could go investigate Yaku,” she says.

“Seriously?” your poker face doesn’t halt her excitement.

“Yeah, come on, it’ll be fun!” she drags you away, and you both hunt him down. The two of you happen to find Nekoma leaving a gym after playing a practice game. “Okay, all we have to do is tail him.”

“What?” you ask in disbelief. You are not doing that.

“It’s only for like ten minutes,” she says, trying to calm you.

“Seriously?” you ask her again.

“Nothing to worry about,” she says. “Oh! I see him. Let’s go!” And like before, she drags you along to follow Yaku. You feel so bad that you’re doing this. You and Yukie follow Yaku to the Nekoma room in the classroom building and see him gathering supplies for something. It was certainly strange. He puts them inside a plastic bag and leaves the Nekoma room, and goes behind the classroom building. He goes to a box and crouches down. A little cat pops out of the box when he opens one of the containers. He seems to be taking care of a stray. You and Yukie leave to discuss what you had witnessed.

“I guess we can rule Yaku out too,” you say.

“Huh, I guess so,” she agrees. “Shame. I thought for sure it was him.”

“Yeah, well, we need to head back. It’s almost dinner time,” you remind.

“Oh yeah, you’re right,” she says, and the two of you walk over to the dining hall. Most of the people are there already, so you both grab some dinner and sit with the other managers. The only other manager missing was Mai.

“Are you feeling better?” Kiyoko asks. She is referencing your excuse from earlier.

“Oh, yup, feeling much better, thanks,” you try to hide your lie, but you’re not very convincing. However, she doesn’t press you any further.

“So, judging from your face Yukie, I’m guessing one of the theories is out,” Kaori says; you guess she knew about the planned investigation.

“Yup,” Yukie affirms. “Yaku is out.”

“Oh, that sucks,” Kaori says.

“So, that leaves Kita then, right?” Runa asks.

“Yup, he’s the only one left,” Hana agrees. As you’re eating, Mai finally joins all of you. She comes in with a note as she sits with the rest of you.

“Hey, Mai,” you greet her as she sits beside you.

“Hey, Y/N,” she greets back. “I found another note on your pillow.” Everyone hears that part and leans in to listen to you read it.

“What’s it say?” you hear a few of them ask. You open it and read it for the group.

“Hey Y/N! It was nice to see you today. You really inspired me today, so I’m glad that you’re around. You’re definitely cool. Thank you,” you read. Most of the girls gush from the note.

“Aww, so cute,” Kaori says.

“Adorable,” Hana says. You look back to the note and study it. The term ‘definitely cool’ seems familiar to you.

“Well, tomorrow we have to do an investigation on Kita,” Yukie tells the group. “He’s the last one.” Everyone agrees, and you still think about the contents of the note. You’re starting to think that maybe you’re going after the wrong people. So, everyone eats their dinner, and then it’s off to the make-shift dorms. You head to the managers’ room and decide to compare every note you’ve received and look at them together. However, doing so was proven to be complicated. It didn’t help much either because every note was like the last. The only difference is the last one. It’s signed off with a ‘thank you,’ which you thought to be peculiar. But you really can’t figure out the whole thing, and you were pretty tired from everything, so you decide to cut your losses and get to bed.

The next day you wake up from the managers practically shaking you awake. It startles you when you see their faces all looking down at you.

“Y/N! You’re finally awake!” Mai says.

“Huh? What… what’s going on?” you ask groggily.

“We were hoping you would come with us to watch Inarizaki do their morning routine,” Kaori says.

“Yeah, we’ll get to see if Kita slips away from them to write you another note,” Hana explains.

“Is that right?” you ask sarcastically, but they take you seriously.

“So, get up, get up!” Yukie has you get up and get ready before they all drag you out the door. Everyone goes to where Inarizaki does their morning run and stretches. Everyone watches Kita carefully the entire time, and the poor guy is just explaining to his teammates what they are doing. He isn’t someone you suspected from the beginning, but you didn’t really have the heart to tell the group.

Somehow you find a time to escape, and you take yourself back to the manager’s room. Hopefully, you can catch up on some rest. You run past the other rooms and finally get to the manager’s room. The door is closed, which is strange. You swear Runa left the door open. You slowly grab the door and open it to see someone at your cot leaving you a note. And that someone is Koganegawa. You stand there frozen until he finally turns to see you. He’s frozen too. You both just stare at one another for several seconds.

“What are you doing here?” you finally ask.

“Oh, uh, I was just…uh,” he’s trying to find some kind of excuse.

“So… you’re the one leaving the notes?” you ask. He looks back to the note he left and then back at you.

“Uh, yes,” he says softly.

“Wow, I…I don’t know what to say,” you try to find words.

“I’m really sorry about this,” he apologizes.

“Sorry? Why are you sorry?” you ask him.

“Well, you probably think this is strange right?” he says.

“Well, I guess, but why didn’t you just tell me how you felt?” you ask and finally start to walk towards him. He becomes flustered like he did before.

“I-I didn’t think you knew who I was, so I didn’t think I had a chance,” he explains to you.

“What? Really? You really thought that?” you’re pretty shocked.

“Yeah, I mean, you’re so cool and everything. I figured you’re really popular,” he says. You shake your head.

“I’m really not. I wish you would’ve said something,” you say. “I mean, I do like you. A lot.”

“You do? Really?” he’s the one in disbelief.

“When we were talking yesterday, I kinda hoped that the notes were from you,” you admit. “And they sound a lot like you too. And they made me really happy and made me feel special.”

“Then they did the job,” he says.

“Yeah, they really did,” you agree. “So, now that we know our feelings…”

“Are you free later…you know, to do something?” he asks.

“For you, I am,” you say. You can’t wait to tell the other managers about this, and you can’t wait to see the look on their faces.
