i've gotten into the habit of not being able to survive a day without listening to kokomo by the beach boys. what is happening. IT'S NOT BEACH BOYS SEASON IT'S SIMON AND GARFUNKEL SEASON WHAT IS GOING ON
Forgot I had a demo scheduled the other day and didn't have anything ready to show. Thankfully I'd cut this out three or four years ago and stuffed it in a box for later. Well, later has come, so I ground it up and finished it during the demo.
Kokomo 4SPLPink sky; Wissmach WO118 water; Wissmach 142LLG cattails; Oceanside Rainforest Peral Opal (602186CCF) leaves; Youghiogheny 1665SP reflection; old (possibly Oceana) orange and white sun; old (possibly Fremont) cranberry and green horizon; 1.5"x6" rounded corners and 1.5"x3" rectanglar bevels.
Process pics and some bevel drama under the cut.
All-in-all it was a fast grind with only 39 total pieces, including the bevels. However, notice that top left bevel missing? Well that's because I somehow managed to chip the corner. You can see it at the top of the picture there, along with its shard. I still have no idea what I hit with it or how anything nearby was hard enough to make such an impact, but sometimes you hit the glass juuuuust wrong and shit happens.
Problem is, these bevels were non-stock even three years ago. I only had four. I could have swapped all four out for something at the last minute, but I liked the look of them, so instead, I glued the bevel.
Hard to see, but there it is. Once the foil and the zinc were on, it would be nearly invisible.
(I use C.R. Laurence UV glues, set with a sun lamp. I prefer it over other UV glues and I feel that the sun lamp sets it faster and more solidly than a UV/black light.)
Foiled! You can see the creative foiling I ended up doing to hide the missing tail of the chip.
And soldered. I admit I did the chipped joint first to hide my sins before anyone I was demonstrating for could get a good look. They'll never know! (Unless they somehow find this post.)
