Another sketch, this time a snake wyvern based on sea kraits. - ORCINA KRAI Title - Reef snake Monster class - Snake wyvern Known locales - Coastlines, islets and reef outcrops Element/ailment - Ice + Poison Elemental weakness - Thunder (3), Dragon (1), Water (1), Fire (1), Ice (0) Ailment weakness - Stun (3), Blast (2), Paralysis (2), Sleep (2), Poison (0) Orcina Krai is a snake wyvern principally found along coastal regions, occasionally straying inland via estuaries or marshlands, or further afield by coral reef outcrops and islets. It is distinguished by its lustrous pink and green scales and various aquatic adaptations. The rudder-like hindlimbs and flattened tail enable excellent mobility underwater, whilst the large dorsal fin erects or flattens to assist direction. Orcina Krai is predominantly a piscivore, pursuing schools of fish underwater, though occasionally it comes inland to search for wyvern eggs or small creatures (more often than not the juvenile carapaceon Brineling). Some individuals lurk in rivers or by outcrops to ambush larger prey, though this is rare given Orcina Krai's bright colours don't entail subtlety. While humans are not usually considered prey, field workers should keep their distance from the snake wyvern, who may be tempted to attack either by aggravation from close proximity or simply testing a potential meal. Alternating between inland and oceanic activity, Orcina Krai are not particularly territorial and are reasonably tolerant to their own kind. Come the mating season, males gather on the shoreline, flaunting their fins and colours to intimidate each other and attempt to impress the larger females. After mating, the females take to sheltered coves or lakes, producing live young and guarding the brood for a few weeks from opportunistic predators. After that, the young are on their own and must become adept marine hunters quickly, lest they be deemed runts and preyed upon by their own mothers. As the snake wyvern's bright colours may suggest, Orcina Krai is venomous; powerful toxins are concentrated in the spines lining its forelimbs. Orcina Krai is a defensively aligned monster, evading attacks with sinuous motions or baiting aggressors into colliding with its venomous spines. Should it go on the offensive, Orcina Krai can spit an strange residue from glands in its mouth that solidies into an icy coating. This chilling concotion is usually used to slow down fast-swimming prey and proves just as effective in battle. Otherwise, strikes of its sharp fangs and claws or a swings of its tail fell most enemies. Orcina Krai is a reasonably challenging opponent between its use of ailments and surprising mobility (Low Rank - 3, High/Master Rank - 2). Hunters should avoid challenging the snake wyvern in the water and find a way to lure it onto land, where traps and barrel bombs can assist in hindering its mobility. Attacking the head when Orcina Krai is readying its icy spit could potentially make the snake wyvern choke on its own residue. As a predator of Brinelings, Orcina Krai are targeted for attack by the adult Brinataur on sight and must flee from the powerful carapaceon. Otherwise, the snake wyvern tends to have few natural enemies thanks to its toxins, though attacks from the likes of Lagiacrus or Torrenial can happen. Interestingly, Orcina Krai has little tolerance for the piscine wyvern Hyborlex and has been known to attack it without provocation; researchers theorise that this may be due to Hyborlex being a major predator of newborn Orcina Krai. - Thank you for reading and take care.

possible new rotation subject: Tyrian World Religions 201
I was reading the wiki for funsies (as one does) and noticed in the article on Lyssa a throwaway note that the norn consider her a “spirit of action” with a footnote to an archive of Guild Mag. Indeed, on page 14 a developer went into how the different races filter conceptions of their fellows’ gods/spirits/philosophy thru their own experiences, such as the asura seeing human gods as larger equations in the Eternal Alchemy and the norn see the human gods as spirits of action, with Balthazar being War and Kormir being Knowledge. They would be called such by norn—obviously this is lore that didn’t make it into the game because norn NPCs and PC dialogue options alike refer to Balthazar not (Spirit of) War.
Which already- war can be a domain or an action but knowledge is a domain. One would think the action would be learning or study or observation or something… tho I appreciate the alliteration. But it of course doesn’t go further into it so we don’t know how the other gods’ domains translate for the norn. They aren’t all as straightforward, often having dominion over multiple areas both due to the shifting over time as gods fell or ascended and the doylist need to have a particular god of whatever class you pick.
Balthazar, dominion over war, fire, and challenge. Spirit of War, and boy does he live up to it. *
Kormir, dominion over order, spirit and truth. Spirit of Knowledge. Interesting choice since humans tend to focus more on her aspect as Goddess of Truth. *
Dwayna, dominion over healing, air, and life. First of the gods to arrive on Tyria from the mists when they put humans there. Church of Dwayna worships as Goddess of Life. I perceive her as the head of the pantheon, with additional influence over medicine (human story) and motherhood (see below). Possibly Spirit of Healing? Or of Assistance, given the nature of prayers/flavor dialogue associated with her.
Grenth, dominion over death, ice, darkness (and being baby boy. In-universe mari llywd probably.) Associated with casting off of illusions, defeat of false gods, etc. Worshipped as God of Death. Obvious answer would be Spirit of Death but due to Dhuum and also I prefer more action, how about Spirit of Fallow or Spirit of Inevitability (per statue description)
Melandru, dominion over nature, earth, and growth. Considered the oldest & wisest, worshiped as Goddess of Nature.
- May have had an aspect named Mellaggan (bounty, wealth of the ocean) who appeared to the Quaggans but was killed by krait at some point in the distant past.
- obviously all the spirits are part of nature, so I suspect she’s the Spirit of Growth.
Lyssa, dominion over beauty, water, and illusion. Worshipped as Goddess of Beauty but her parables and associations with chaos seem to more emphasize illusions. Possibly Spirit of Inspiration given her favoring art and culture? Interested in the implications of Lys & Ilya + triple-faced sigil.
Abadon, dominion over deep water, knowledge, and magic. Titled God of Secrets. Lore snippet suggests he used to appear in the form of a handsome & calm man with wings as blue as the ocean, appearance changed over time thru torment into squidhead we know and love. Apparently made the Sirens Landing reliquaries, further cementing Secrets as his main thing so I feel safe saying he would be (have been) the Spirit of Secrecy.
Dhuum, dominion over death undeniable, voice in the void, etc. also has a helmet with fuckassbig horns, both more and less humanoid than Grenth. Spirit of Annihilation sounds good to me.
Menzies the Mad, Lord of Destruction. Yeah I know we aren’t sure he’s a god but I feel safe assuming he basically would be one if humans worshipped him. Allegedly is more associated with destructive/deceptive battle than valorous & honorable Balthazar, but given recent events… possibly the Spirit of Bloodthirst or Vengence?
The three queens! Lesser spirits of defense/wrestling/etc? No idea.
Anyhow. That’s some thoughts.

Hmm one thing I've been kinda tempted to play with as a fun long term-ish project is to come up with some core class builds using core stats only (preferably with easily accessible/cheap components). The premise would be builds and gear that new players/f2p users could easily try that do decent-ish damage that could be brought into group content. Especially with that new strike coming at the end of S1! It'll be the intro for a lot of new players to 10-man content.
These would not be top dps builds, but they'd be more than enough to do metas, early fractals, strikes, etc. Since the emphasis is on cheap, we'd also not be looking at things like scholar runes. It'd be instead, say, eagle or ogre.
And as for condi builds? Viper's not an option. Maybe not even sinister! Too much farming to expect of someone who just hit level 80. We'd have to focus on single condition duration, so say things like carrion with krait runes, Balthazar runes and a smoldering sigil, etc.

Hello:3 may I request a match up? I'm 19, identify as Agender, have slight Autism and strong ADHD and have very bad anxiety about almost everything. I'm in college as an Asl major and would like a bitty who wouldn't mind traveling with me to help with Anxiety and comfort. I don't like loud sounds or fast movement and have a habit or picking up small feathers or rocks or bugs because I like them and keep them in a little box, I also adore little trinkets and have a necklace with an 'angel bell' in it because it helps keep me calm. I like long walks but don't do much more exercise than that and I like Sweet things or bitter things.
My recommendations for you are:
Krait (Gaster): Krait are shy, somewhat timid lamias who make excellent companions. Kraits love physical closeness with their adopters and will gladly travel with you in a pocket or on your shoulder. Kraits aren’t loud at all but they are encouraging and comforting if you’re feeling anxious. Kraits also enjoy learning, so he’ll actually really enjoy it if you take him to classes with you!
FireRing (Grillby): FireRings are mute, so don’t worry about loud noises from them. FireRings enjoy giving comfort, and it makes them very happy to provide a soothing warmth with their fire magic. We have FireRings in the shop who use ASL to communicate, and I’m sure one of them would appreciate being adopted by someone with a passion for it.
Chain (SF!Papyrus): Chains form a unique SOULbond with their adopters that allows them to sense when that person (you) is feeling strong emotions (such as anxiety). This means that he will always know when you need him for comfort. Chains are quite snuggly, and like you, they love to find neat little natural treasures. Once your Chain knows that you enjoy them, he will bring you anything he finds.
*Please let me know if you’d like an adoption scenario!

TWST ASK PROMPT
(I got tagged by @tunabesimpin and @akaipepo so I'm givin' ya a head's up!)
would you be a mer, a beastman, a fae, or a human? (or other!) -Realistically I'd probably end up Human (skeleton), but choose, I kinda like the idea of being Beastfolk (but deciding on Cat/Snake/Grass Lizard would depend on the day ^^; )
would you be at rsa or nrc? -I don't think I have the moral compass to be anything but NRC
what dorm would you belong to? -All tests point to Scarabia, Doctor U_U As much as I like the aesthetic/vibe with the theme-my Cold-weather-loving ass would probably feel like death after a week.
what character(s) would you be best friends with? -Lilia, Deuce, POSSIBLY Azul (in like, a Mean Girls sorta way??), Idia (if he'd let me), and (As much as I rag on him about Ch. 4 stuff) Jamil. (Virgos gotta stick together, mate)
what character(s) would you hate? -SEBEK. I'm sorry, Crocodile Boi, but no. And even though I have a character who's Bumping Unfortunates with him...Floyd.
what character(s) would you date? - (ONLY ON THE ASSUMPTION I HAD CHANGED TO BE SIMILARLY AGED) >//////> ...Jade... I'M SORRY, MI AZULITO
what would floyd’s nickname be for you? -(if Beastfolk) Coral Krait/Catfish/Thresher Shark, Human?? Chinanago/Garden Eel
and rook’s? -Personne de Dessin (Drawing person)
what twst character(s) are you most like? (personality-wise) -Again, as much as I give him shit...Jamil. (and a lil bit of Childhood!Azul but we ain't gonna talk about that >///> )
which subject(s) do you think you would excel at? -Magical History, any of the 'creatives' classes. If Flyings an elective-SIGN ME UP
what club would you join? -Canon one: Either Board Game Club or Science Club. If possible, make my own Art Examination/Appreciation Club.
how do you think you would survive in twisted wonderland/what would your life be like in general? -If thrown in as the MC, I'd like to think I'd survive surprisingly well?? Either doing what I do and to Custodial work, manning Sam's Shop, or Set up a teaching curriculum for 'ExtraWorldly Studies' (teaching about our world compared to TWST)
[optional!] what would your unique magic be? -If given the option, I'd love mine to be "Illusion of Life": Things that I draw come to life to perform simple tasks. More magic is consumed the more complex the drawing is, and the longer it stays animated.

My new GW2 mesmer, Gwen (of course!), is destined to be a sword and board mesmer because a) I want to try Chronomancer at last, and b) I think it's really funny. But I decided I wanted to make leveling Gwen up different in some way—I don't like instant leveling—and went with two rules I set for myself.
She can't use any experience boosters of any kind (food, banners, utility items, conventional boosters, anything).
She has to use as many racial utility skills as possible until she's level 80. As a human, this means her only non-weapon skills are four prayers to the human gods plus one free skill to do what I want with (instead of the usual five free skills).
It's actually a pretty fun way to play. I really like the animations for the prayers—an image of the actual god in their proper color scheme appears above your head and then your prayer is answered, even if it's a bit silly to me that divine assistance is so underpowered. I get some maneuverability from the free skill, and the elite prayer (fiery hounds of Balthazar) is genuinely good for a class this squishy at this level.
But I did discover while fighting krait that prayers are considered land-only skills (?????) and I was carrying standard mesmer utility skills while underwater. I have no idea why the gods can't/don't answer prayers if you're underwater, but apparently it's the case. Maybe racial skills generally don't work underwater? I don't know.

Until then, here’s some fucking ultra-rad J-pop and Moby being Moby. Hopefully ICE won’t send me to Mexico before then.Īssuming I’m not detained on trumped up (PUN) charges and sent to a CIA retention center, I do plan on doing some record shopping in Portland before heading back, so I hope to find some 12″ singles that seem to be a bit on the scarce side here. I’m stopping off in Oregon to see my mom and then jetting back to Japan a week later. This will be a much shorter visit than my usual month-long transcontinental tours. In other news, I’m going to America next week oh God.

I’ve only just crawled from the grave that I was placed in underneath the Western gardens into a world that is too bright and full of loud students. I miss the spiders and worms who kept me company and spoke through the void in my dreams but they said it was time for me to go, the pressure of getting an education weighs heavier on me than the dirt and rocks below that were once above. The Being at the registration office said I must have a name to sign up for classes but I can’t remember mine as it seems to have been a millennia since I last uttered it out loud or within my own mind. Could you please give me one until the earth decides to relinquish my true name?

Kerra and public opinion
This post is a few days late, whoops, but putting it into the world nonetheless! Borrowing your title style @i-mybrunettelady, and here’s the post as promised! :) Vague spoilers for basically the entire story, but especially LWS2-HoT.
Tumblr media
The world in general definitely has Opinions (TM) on the Commander, but for the purposes of this post I’m specifically addressing how other sylvari see her.
From the moment Kerra awakens, she’s known as the Valiant who fought with Firstborn Caithe in the Dream. She’s not really known as herself, and she never attends classes with the Menders and the other saplings. Because of this, she’s more of a symbol and a goal to reach than a real person to most sylvari.
The more she interacts with the world, though, the more tangible she becomes. She’s not prickly like Caithe is or as far away as Trahearne seems--she’s right there, helping with the Nightmare Court or the krait or a sapling’s homework assignment about Ventari’s tablet. When she leaves to defeat Zhaitan and succeeds, it’s the success of Marshal (and Firstborn) Trahearne and the Pact, but it’s also the success of someone they can more easily claim as a peer. Kerra’s the type of popular figure where a lot of sylvari claim to know her personally and tell stories about her, and some of them are even true.
As the timeline moves through LWS2, Kerra comes back to Caledon and the Grove less and less often due to a combination of her duties as Commander and her confusion about her Wyld Hunt. She becomes progressively more of a myth to the sylvari and the new saplings, partly because of the distance and partly because this is the first “generation” to start learning about Kerra from the Dream.
In Maguuma, she’s a shining symbol of resistance against Mordremoth, especially to those who hypothesize (correctly) that the jungle dragon is her true Wyld Hunt. At the same time, she’s tangible again, at least to the sylvari Pact soldiers. She rescues them from pods, defends camps, and does her best to deal with anyone snarking about how their race is inherently distrustworthy (along with Nisha, who they grow to know and respect as well during this time, but that’s for another post). The story of Mordremoth’s defeat and how the Commander managed to save the Marshal with, to oversimplify it by quite an extensive amount, a little bit of magic and a lot of caring, is a favorite one.
From LWS3 through to the present, Kerra once again falls into the role of distant hero to most sylvari. However, the key difference here is Kerra’s influence on the Dream. She’s still only one sylvari, despite the impact she’s made. But she’s a key figure, and popular, and her feelings towards the Pale Mother manage to slip into the Dream. She doesn’t see their Mother as a god or an omniscient leader, but instead as a parent who made and continues to make mistakes. Kerra is most certainly not the first sylvari to feel this way, nor will she be the last. But the imprint she, in particular, leaves on the Dream means that some newly awakened saplings are...less reverent than in the past, let’s say. And some question Ventari’s teachings by holding her up as an example.
The saplings adore her (or at least the idea of her--its distance from the actual Commander varies), and the menders are torn between exasperation, anger, and grudging respect. She rises in their estimation when, after being away for a few years after Mordremoth’s defeat, she returns to the Grove post-LWS4 once every week as a “guest lecturer” of sorts.

Wildlife of the Windswept Plateau
Hey I've decided to make this a series. Next on my list of "researcher documents the Flights native wildlife" we have the Wind Flight! I hope this is at least a good jumping off point for you writers/RPers/Worldbuilders!
Includes little personal notes here and there about possible uses, ecology and real-life equivalents, and interesting notes from the items bio too. Calling this series “Ecology of Sornieth” where I detail: Wildlife.  Aquatic life. Insects. Plant life. ???.
Long post ahead. Cut for convenience.
Wild Life:
Balsas Anole (Able to change color based on mood. probably a popular catch for hatchlings) Plague Bat (Bats native to the Scarred Wasteland. Most likely purged for spreading diseases.) Sun Flecked Fieldmouse (Fur sparkles in the sunlight. can leap great distances and has a tendency to brood.) Zephyr Sparrow (Flies very high but is prone to oxygen deprivation. Tend to be short lived due to this reason. Possibly kept by dragons for it's plumage) Broad-footed Moles (Stubborn. strangely tend to dig in opposite directions from their mates. Possibly dug up as food by hatchlings) Cottontail Rabbit (A decent meal for dragons, probably farmed for meat and fur. hilariously large dragons might use them similarly to cottonballs.) Hooded Hen (Can be ornery maybe? A decent meal for a dragon. Probably farmed for meat and feathers.) Steppes Box Turtle (Known for the pattern on it's shell) Hooded Skunk (despite being a skunk its rather docile. Probably hunted for as wild game for meat and fur) False-Peacock Quail (Pretty plumage. A decent meal for a dragon. Probably hunted as wild game for meat and feathers) Mallard (A decent meal for a dragon. Probably hunted as wild game for meat and feathers. Note: Irl only male Mallards have the signature green hood.) Golden-Laced Rooster (Can reached running speeds of up to 15km an hour. Probably hunted as wild game.) Arroyo Toad (Most dragons have developed an immunity to it's skin toxin. Mirrors however are allergic.) Firebearer (A type of squirrel monkey. Has been observed spreading forest fires by carrying burning branches to new areas. Possibly done to flush out game from underbrush or usher in new growth in remote areas. Possibly a Keystone species?) Fancy Rat (Possibly kept as pets. Might even be given as gifts(for pets or to eat) during special occasions) Wallaby (Probably hunted as wild game. A decent meal for a dragon.) Pangolin (Noted for keeping lairs insect free! Might be kept around as a form of pest control. although maybe not by insectivorous dominated clans.) White-Eared Hummingbird (Yes birds do have ears!) Olive Sea Snake (VENOMOUS. Aposematic. Bright blue and orange coloration warns of it's toxicity. Named not for it's color by for it's curious love of olives. Note: Irl all species of sea snake are venomous. they are close cousins to cobras and kraits.) Grey Squirrel (Probably a common meat in stews and campfire roasts) Tree Gecko (Has great camouflage but oddly is color blind.) Magpie (Hunted for both their meat and hoards of shinies) Ferret (Probably kept as popular pets/small game hunting companions.) Sugarglider (A prime pest of Sugarmelon crops. Probably kept and bred as pets for their cuteness. Funfact: It's a possum!) Bar-headed Goose (Probably hunted as wild game or farmed for meat and feathers.) Crested Newt (Notable has a crest for mating displays) Emerald Striker (VENOMOUS. Contains it's venom in the "emeralds" on it's body. Probably not safe to eat due to the "venom pockets" throughout it's body) Silver Racoon (Named for it's love of silver ore and trinkets. Might be hunted as wild game.) Lesser Land Iguana (apparently very self confident. I take that to mean they are aware of how dangerous they are and probably have few predators. Probably hunted if there are no other options though. Most likely avoided due to average iguana temperament (That is to say violent as hell)) Bog Canary (Has an awful call. but it's plumage is pretty and might be kept as pets (Note: Picture depicts a budgerigar not a canary)) Golden Reefprince (A type of axolotl, has a golden sheen. typically given by dragons to someone they're trying to impress. Might be farmed similarly to Valentines roses and sold for holidays and anniversaries.) Black Swan (Probably kept as ornamental birds by the upperclass. Compete in elegant displays with each other. Probably over mating rights.) Juvenile Prairie Skink (The adults of this species perform excellent parental care for lizards when the hatchlings are young. (Note: Maternal care in irl skinks is highly unlikely. Note 2: Art possibly depicts a jeweled lacerta instead?)) Muskrat (A native to the Gladevines of the Viridian labryinth this rodent is commonly found in aqueducts hunting small aquatic life. Probably hunted as wild game or farmed for meat and water resistant fur.) Reedhopper (Amphibian. well camouflaged though makes a loud incessant croaking. Probably a common sound at night near fresh waterways like ponds and rivers.) Collard Lemmings (Has local folk stories that tell of them staring into your soul and knowing all your secrets.) Glowing Pocket mouse (Common prey to smaller predators. It's brightness indicates it's mood. Kept as familiars) Skycats (Common winged felines that guide dragons throughout the Windswept Plateau. Multiple sets of large ears implies excellent hearing. Normally catch the updraft of larger dragon wings for easier flight. Kept as familiars.) Bamboo Phytocat (Has developed bamboo growths on it's body for camouflage in the reeds. Ambush Predator. Large and dangerous. Possibly hunted for trophies or as rites of passage. Kept as familiars) Banded Owlcat (Silent ambush predators from both the land and the sky. Kept as familiars) Grassland Trunker (Small squat herbivores. Very docile. Often kept as pets or farmed for meat. Kept as familiars.) Lilyfowl (Birds who spend most of their time submerged in ponds and such. Can breath through it's plant-like growths! Kept as familiars.) Myosotis Fox (Fur is vibrant in color and displays many beautiful flowers. In the wild they most likely use this for camouflage. However they are kept and bred as companions. Possibly bred for color and flower variation. May even be used in shows. Popular among upper class? Kept as familiars.) Traveling Garden (Large tortoises with a variety of plant life growing amongst their shell. Maybe a Keystone species? Kept as familiars.) Heckling Hydrena (Possibly native to the Shifting Expanse. Unknown if invasive or just widespread. Most likely inhabits marshlands and other waterways. Apparently pose danger to stray hatchlings. Kept as familiars) Toxic Igueel (TOXIC. Coloration is aposematic to warn would be predators. Probably inhabits rocky coastlines and other marine environments. Leather is very useful in leatherworking as interfacing and support. Kept as familiars) Tradewinds Gull (Common seabirds. Popular for use in message transport. Most likely used by maritime trades. Kept as familiars) Blueridge Greatshell (Large aquatic turtles that inhabit freshwater only. Cannot survive saltwater. Probably hunted for meat. Kept as familiars) Scaleside Noggle (Most likely a riverway/lake predator for small to mid sized creatures. Kept as familiars) Fiendcat (Fiery predators that cook their prey. large and dangerous. Probably a threat to smaller clans. Hunting one could be considered and accomplishment. Kept as familiars) Bluetail Skira (Large herbivores who spend much of their time lounging in ponds and lakes. Blue algea growing on their tail gives it that blue color. Kept as familiars ) Ringlet Amphithere (Tiny winged snakes that can fit in a Fae's claws. Might be kept as pets. Kept as familiars.) Hippojay (Might be farmed for meat or hunted as big/trophy game. Probably a common sight in wind clan backyards. Or kept as familiars) Crowned Roc (DEADLY. Massive dangerous birds that can be found hunting the skies of the Windswept Plateau. Poses a threat to all but the largest of dragons(Imperials?). Might even hunt/eat mid to small sized dragons. Apex predator of the region and a possible keystone species. Might commonly be the subject of stories, legends, myths, art, ect. Hunting one is probably a great event. Kept as familiars) Cloud Chaser (Airborne cetaceans that fly through the air, possibly in massive beautiful pods. produces clicks and whistles. Groups of them might sound like an orchestra of woodwind instruments. Most likely the favored prey of Crowned Rocs. Also probably subjects of popular culture. Kept as familiars. )

Lamia Drama Part 9
Not my favorite, maaaaybe should’ve done this from Liam’s POV, but TROUSLE DESERVES THE LOVE TOO.
I’ll tag later, I’ve got things to do, but nothing new here anyways really
Previous Beginning Next
Trousle wrapped loosely along Alex’s neck, making sure to keep just tight enough to stay on but no more – he didn’t want to hurt her after all! Her skin was warm and she smelled, well… Like she maybe needed a shower, something not helped by a generous sprinkling of literal dirt, as in from the ground, but so long as he kept his tongue in his mouth, it wasn’t too bad. It was hardly her fault, it was hot out there, she was a mammal, and she was wearing as little as was decent: a tank top and shorts. Still, he was trying to think of nice ways to offer the use of their shower system or the Krait pool to her. He didn’t want to be rude, but surely she’d appreciate the chance to get clean as well! Then again, Oozy wallowed in his own slime all the time and seemed content, so maybe some people are just like that (why and how was beyond him). That said, she had a bit of a sweet smell to her too, like fruit and maybe flowers.
Nikolai was taking the lead, followed closely by Hux. A little too closely – Liam seemed to be the only person Hux ever hurried for without threat. Then again, perhaps Liam getting snappy about being late was enough of a threat to get him to move his tail. Keith was hanging back a little, glancing every now and then at Trousle and Alex, and Oozy was likely only keeping pace because Alex was gifting him head pats. Trousle was tempted to slither down to her hand for some head-pats of his own, but that seemed a little too forward – he didn’t want to come across as desperate! Besides, he was already getting cuddles, no need to be greedy!
Trousle flicked his tongue out – trying to ignore the twang of dried up sweat – as they grew closer, holding himself up to see as they got close to Liam’s room.
… he’d gotten into the sour candies again, hadn’t he? The area had that smell to it. Really! How dare he, such a relentless thief! There’s no way he got enough to make that much of a smell legitimately!
“Liam,” Nikolai said, stopping. “This is Alex, she’s come to play DnD with us.” He moved aside to let Alex step to the front.
Alex moved forward and Trousle craned to catch her expression. She was looking at Liam’s scales, watching as Liam coiled down from his tree, sliding down to spread out over his hoard of pillows and blankets. He held himself tall, sitting partly back from the glass, and kept his good side forward – though he was wearing the cap meant to cover his skull for once, though the paste used to keep it in place was clearly visible.
“Her? Well then, do you think you have what it takes, human? We don’t take just anyone you know. I’m not sure you’re up to it.”
“I mean, we’re playing 5e, right? Is there something I should know?”
Trousle huffed and quickly typed out, “Liam’s a liar.” Anyone was welcome! Liam couldn’t threaten her, Trousle wouldn’t allow it!
Liam hissed, narrowing his good eye, “I am not-!”
Keith chuckled, raising his hands up, “Hey hey… Easy y’all. I mean, we do have session 0’s for a reason, not everyone’s a good fit, but Liam, don’t be a dick.”
“Hmph,” Liam said, rising up and crossing his arms. “Well then, I suppose we’ll see for oursssselvessss, won’t we?” He was absolutely doing that hiss on purpose, narrowing his eyes dramatically. Trousle had to admit it looked kind of cool.
Hux nodded along, “Hell yeah. If you’re going to play with the big boys, you better be up to it toots. You think you’ve got game?”
“Y’know what, maybe I do!” Alex said. “What kinds of characters do you guys play anyways? Need anything in particular, I’m game!”
           “No,” Hux said.
Trousle searched his mind for what they might need, but… Well, the party was pretty balanced, and story-wise this would be an awkward time…            “I’m thinking of doing a side-campaign,” Keith said. “It’ll be easier than trying to fit ya in, and we can work around it that way. I mean, we don’t meet every night, but most of us, y’know, live here, so we’re kinda together all the time, and I know you can’t do that. That alright?”
Alex nodded, “Totally! And I get that, my friend group I play with on Sundays all used to live in the same dorm and we’d play baaaasically every night. It was wild man. The basement was really fucking hot though. But that pretty much meant we had it all to ourselves. Man, those were the days…”
Trousle typed away, “So we’re all making new characters?”
Keith nodded, “Yeah, why not? We can figure out a theme or gimmick if you guys want too.”
“Rogue campaign,” Liam said almost immediately.
“You’re basically a rogue already dude,” Hux said. “You don’t need DnD to be a rogue.”
“Bard campaign!” Trousle typed, grinning up at Keith hopefully.
           “No,” Hux hissed.
“Do you have anything you do want to do?” Nikolai said to Hux, rolling his eyes.
Hux threw his hands in the air, “Well excuse me for thinking a party of only one class is boring!”
“New friend! What about you?” Trousle asked, precariously situating himself to look at her. Maybe he should move down to her arm, it’s hard to talk to her from her own neck.
Alex froze, hands grasping and ungrasping in the air, “Um… I mean… I’ve got a lot of characters, but I don’t wanna take the whole thing over… I really like Fae though! I’ve got a little bit of practice in political campaigns, but I’m usually more Roleplay heavy than anything.”
Keith smiled, coming closer to her. “Sounds fun to me, what about the rest of you?”
Trousle nodded enthusiastically. Fairies could be so fun! And enchanting~
           “Sounds kinda sissy…” Hux mumbled.
Liam looked at Alex with a hard to read expression, but slowly it turned into a grin, “I think I like this one, but let’s see if you can put your money where your mouth is.”
           Hux’s eyes widened, “Wait, really?”
“You like Fae too?” Alex said, stepping closer to the glass around Liam.
Liam nodded, “Are you kidding me? Magic, politics, contracts, and some interesting morality too. I can work with this.”
“Can I be a fairy?” Trousle asked, looking at Keith.
Keith hummed, “Maybe, let’s try to work out a general idea first. C’mon, let’s go get things set up. Nikolai, let ‘im out, will ya?”
Nikolai nodded, taking some keys from his belt-loop (a belt that he apparently wore solely to attach keys to) and Liam out. Liam made a show of stretching himself out as he joined the group, “About time. Now then, shall we?”
           “Let’s go,” Keith said.
They all started heading towards the gaming room… also known as the break room, but the humans were going to have to live with it for today, apparently.
