An abandoned potato sorting station near Krasnosilka, Ukraine with a unusual, cantilevered design. The concrete block at the end forms the counterweight of the structure, creating the impression it floats over the fields.

Have you ever seen this picture before? If, just like me, you are an internet user for over ten years and you have ever browsed the web looking for some escapist aesthetic, the answer is probably "yes".
So out of place, defying gravity and reason, where could such a thing exist? I've always thought it should be some foreign and exotic location, probably in a secluded place on a different continent.
I've just found out where the picture has really been taken and, surprise, it's some 30 km from my home. Yep, it's a potato sorting station in Krasnosilka, Ukraine. Krasnosilka a village near Odesa, the city where I live.
I cannot get over this magical place that has haunted my mind for years turning out to be, firstly, so incredibly close, and, secondly, a potato sorting station, of all things.

That’s kinda brilliant though. You can drive a truck up right underneath it and dump the potatoes directly in the truck.
