Always a generous feast with this bunch! The theme was #HomeBasedBusiness, and we certainly delivered. Now just need to convince @honeybeesweets.sg to start her biz! 😂 Some of the deliciousness we stuffed our faces with, in between episodes of @catchatsg tickles: 1. Roll Cakes by @dorisgozbakes; loved the Peanut and looking forward to trying Speculoos next 2. Mommy’s Boy Curry by @chefjasontan_sg; go for his extremely tender pork jowl version ($15 per serving) 5. Unique and very tasty Char Siew Tart by @losinghairdiaries; heard he's putting a pause on this to focus on an even more exciting venture 6. @nakedchicken.sg Fried Chicken (unfortunately temporarily closed this period) 7. Kueh Kosui Another type of kueh steamed in small cups. I like its springy texture due to the alkaline water added. This uses rice flour and tapioca starch while the Malay version uses plain flour instead of rice flour and tapioca starch. This is also cooked over a stove first before steaming.

#RawChefYin visits Li Er Cafe Penang! @liercafe We actually wanted to eat at Evergreen Vegetarian House but they're closed on Wednesdays so we were walking towards IE Organic Veggie Cafe when the Nyonya Kueh signboard caught my eye. I thought we'd grab some kueh since nyonya kueh is traditionally vegan as they use coconut milk and usually no eggs (the non-kaya ones). We ended up having our full breakfast there since they offered vegetarian curry noodles and mee jawa too. This is what we ordered: 1. Kuih Sago (in blue) 2. Kuih Bingka Ubi Kayu (one of my all time favourite nyonya kueh) 3. Kuih Kosui 4. Kuih Talam RM2.20 per pack 5. Mee Jawa Vegetarian (no egg, no milk) RM5.50 6. Luo Han Guo Hot (drink) RM2.00 I liked how the kueh wasn't overly sweet. We got to chat with Kei Vin who explained that they've reduced the sugar. Their kueh talam uses natural colouring from pandan leaves. Mr Jazz Guitarist enjoyed the mee jawa. Kei Vin also assured me there's no added sugar and the sauce's sweetness is from the natural ingredients such as pumpkin and tomato. a deep intensity of red smoothness embracing
the rich crisp crunch of grounded peanuts
like firecrackers burning, bursting into sweetness
At Auntie Cheng’s nyonya kueh bakery,
Nenek’s favorite is kueh dar dar
a parenthood of green pandan protecting
the family of delicate vibrant grated coconut
giving ramadan a temptation she has to bear
At Auntie Cheng’s nyonya kueh bakery,
ஆயா’s favorite is kueh kosui
grated coconut innocently incandescent 
as white as a brilliant diya flame with 
gula melaka swirling like henna round our fingers
At Auntie Cheng’s nyonya kueh bakery,
Grandma’s favourite is kueh lapis
a skyscraper of minute, kaleidoscopic bricks
in a melodious harmony of glutinous colours 
creating a unified pastry of delight
At Auntie Cheng’s nyonya kueh bakery,
Auntie Cheng believes that all kueh are beautifully and wonderfully made
Regardless of kueh, topping or ingredient
one complete kueh does not make a diverse palate, but
many diverse kueh sure makes a complete palate.

If you don’t end off with Chef Damien’s dessert platter when at @RestaurantKin.SG, can you really say you had a complete meal there?
