I know this fight scene has some editing issues (typical frantic stuff) but I like the brutality of the choreography and how the power is emphasized through wirework. It’s one of the better pieces of action to come out of Mainland China, recently.
A strange tale of an escaped laborer who encounters a clan of ninjas who teach themselves how to stalk wolves; in reality a compilation/collage of previous works.
A compilation of reviews of old school kung fu movies made in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the People's Republic of China produced between 1966 and 1989. The reviews are culled from all over the internet, including various now-defunct sites. There are about 950 films covered in this volume, from COME DRINK WITH ME to DEATH CAGE.
In light of the trailer Kung Fu Panda 4 being released, I thought I'd share my thoughts on one of favourite scenes in the whole franchise.
In the previous scene, Tai Lung tries to demean Po by calling him a "big fat panda," an insult that Po heard throughout his entire life. And how does Po respond: HE FRICKIN' OWNS IT!!!!!
That's what's so poignant about the message of the movie: it not about changing who yourself, it's about changing how you see yourself. Po's journey was about realizing that the qualities that OTHER PEOPLE saw as burdens, weaknesses, and faults (particularly his appetite and body shape) WERE IN FACT HIS GREATEST STRENGTHS, THINGS THAT ULTIMATELY HELPED HIM SUCCEED!!!!! As Po's father beautifully put it, "to make something special, you have to believe it's special!"
It's a beautiful message, and as someone who's an aroace autisitc, it's one that resonates with me that much more!
they really watched the first movie kfp, saw how Shifu raises Tai Lung as his son, how Shifu could not attack Tai Lung out of love for him, how Shifu refrained from touching his unconscious son because he thought he had no right, how Tigress says that Shifu never loved anyone like Tai Lung neither before nor after, how Tai Lung even years later is angry and jealous of the idea that the father has a new favorite, how Tai Lung admits that everything he ever did was just to make Shifu proud of him, how he literally knocks this words out of Shifu, how Shifu admits that he's always been proud of him, how decades later Shifu finally admits responsibility for his son's ruined fate and asks for forgiveness, how Tai Lung freezes in confusion because of his words, - and they still dismissed the idea of S&T reconciliation and farewell in kfp4 with the words "nah, it would be superfluous 🚬".
