VERY MYSTERIOUS, BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED (IN FULL COLOR!!) AND SPOOKYYY

AND KURO WOULD BASICALLY DO ANYTHING TO KEEP HIS GIRL SAFE AND HAPPY ;;;;;;

ALSO LOVE HOW THEY MIX MONSTER STUFF WITH EVERYDAY NORMAL CAT THINGS SLKDD

AND THIS MANGA IS COMPLETE!! AND A VERY VERY FAST READ IMO!! each "chapter" is just a page long!

U CAN READ IT 🖤 HERE 🖤 the chapter set up is a bit confusing but basically u wanna read the ones that are like 1-18 otherwise itll just be a single page, and then skip ahead to the next 19- whatever, etc!

this one gets a bit of a bad rep bc the marketing team and anime went sO HARD in the "romance" direction when the story itself is actually about found family and learning how to deal with (and identify) complicated emotions and navigating relationships when u are nd and so full of Trauma ™

ITS FUNNY AND HEARTWARMING AND THE ART IS STUNNING

AND HAS SO MUCH REP I DONT NORMALLY SEE IN MANGA (gays, neurodivergent, GNC ppl, poc, chubby ppl realistically drawn and not as a joke, ETC!)

and imo the most believable character growth from a character who starts suicidal and learns to value her own life after a lifetime of feeling worthless SO FOR THAT ALONE ID READ IT IF U STRUGGLE W THAT TBH

ok: I'm 100% positive Kuro is either a sequel or prequel to Shadows House

like, it honestly would not surprise me if Somato eventually come out and just straight-up say "oh yeah btw the Shadows' house is actually the exact same house from Kuro"; or if they eventually tie in the origins of the Morphs to the creatures from Kuro....

creatures who, like the Morphs, also take over the appearances of living beings, live in a forest surrounding a small, isolated village, and generally leave humans only unless they encroach on their territory

a lot of the things Kuro also sets up would also explain things about Shadows House. White flowers basically keep the creatures away from humanity - maybe the Morphs evolved from these 'creatures' into shapeshifters as a way to get around this hindrance.

why the humans of Shadows House can see Morphs also kinda makes sense, even if in Kuro, the creatures can only be seen if you take a vaccine made from the flower that the creatures avoid: the ending of Kuro can make the case that maybe it's the smoke from the soot charcoal making the Morphs visible

one thing I'm not entirely able to work out is why the Shadows/Morphs release soot when the creatures don't, but the creatures do show the ability to perform a variety of different techniques, so it's possible that these abilities either evolved from the soot or were a side-effect of becoming shapeshifters

but, the best thing that Kuro and Shadows House sharing a world?

Emilyko and Coco look a lot alike. Coco could be Emilyko's daughter/mother/grandmother/granddaughter. We might actually know something about Emilyko before she was... Emilyko.
