While stationed in the South Pacific during WWII he saw potential in using a Belly Tank as the body for a dry lakes car.  Janne Lepola had to travel around the world to find out how special the Suomi kustom tradition really is! "On my first trip to Los Angeles I showed pictures of Suomi Kustoms to my new friends and even though they said "nice," I could see from their faces that something was wrong!" The Finish custom scene has always tickled our interest! Eager to learn more, we asked Janne Lepola to give us an introduction to this distinctive nordic kulture. Janne delivered, and he has provided us with a great collection of photos and stories. These two photos show Kalle Uusitalo's 1961 Cadillac custom of Loimaa, Finland. Loimaa is a small town with a lot of US cars, and according to Janne, Kalle set out to build his Caddy in the early 1990s. Bigger was better when it came to continental kits in Finland back then! 62 XKE customized ? Holy Catwoman Batman ... ... ...

The hood was shaved and molded to the body to achieve a cleaner appearance. Side scoops trimmed with two chrome bars were made behind the front wheel openings. The headlights were tunneled into the body and the headlight housings were chromed. The Jaguar Bubble-top was powered by a fuel-injected Corvette engine. The car was fit with a pair of unique chromed pipe-style headers. Once the bodywork was done, it was painted Candy blue.... ... ...

The Glen Smith Special - Kustomrama

Sweep Panel Dual-Cowl Phaeton Built during the Great Depression, Glen’s race car was constructed using various Ford-components. It ran a Model T chassis, and Model T front and rear axles with hairpin split front radius rods. Power came from a Ford Model A engine. The design of the car was heavily inspired by the exclusive Model J Duesenberg‘s, and it featured a custom made aluminum phaeton body.…
