TR25 | Capas Reimaginadas: Guardian of Light

Em fevereiro de 2021, a Crystal Dynamics estreou um projeto especial que visava reimaginar a arte das capas dos títulos principais e dos dois primeiros spin-offs Lara Croft da série, cada uma retratada por um artista diferente, sendo lançadas no decorrer das celebrações do aniversário.

Para Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (2010), a equipa desvendou esta adorável e colorida ilustração desenhada pela talentosa Monserrat Martell, uma artista mexicana mais conhecida na internet como Monster Draw.

Abaixo podem ler o que a artista teve a dizer sobre a produção desta obra e descarregá-la em vários tamanhos para poderem personalizar os vossos dispositivos.

"Trabalhei na capa de Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light tendo como referencia as cores contrastantes que a estória apresenta, principalmente o azul e o laranja. O jogo de luz notório ao longo da aventura é bastante encantador visualmente, por isso quis incluí-lo para criar uma atmosfera semelhante na ilustração.

Guardian of Light é jogado habitualmente em modo cooperativo e o companheirismo é importante, por essa razão ambas as personagens aparecem como protagonistas na ilustração. Para os enquadrar, desenhei um fundo que nos remete para o ambiente da narrativa—o México com as suas pirâmides e parte de uma das folhas do diário da Lara.

Espero que gostem do jogo tanto quanto eu."

TR25 | Reimagined Covers: Guardian of Light

Back in February 2021, Crystal Dynamics debuted a special project that aimed to reimagine the box art of all the mainline entries and the first two Lara Croft spin-off games in the series. Each one features a different artist and their unique take on the game they were assigned with and is set to be released throughout the anniversary celebration.

For Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (2010), the team unveiled this adorable and colourful illustration designed by the talented Monserrat Martell, a Mexican artist also known as Monster Draw around the web.

Below you can find what the artist had to say on the making of this piece and download it in various sizes so you can customize all of your devices.

"I made the cover of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light by referencing the contrasting colors that the story has, which are primarily blue and orange. That notorious play of light along the adventure is extremely visually charming, so I wanted to include it to create a similar atmosphere in illustration.

Guardian of Light is commonly played co-op and companionship is important, the support of one another, which is why both characters appear as protagonists in the illustration. To frame the characters, I designed a background that takes us back to where the story setting—Mexico with its pyramids and part of one of the story journals.

I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do."

It’s time to celebrate the Tomb Raider spin-offs!

Happy Guardian of Light (2010) and Temple of Osiris (2014) month, marking Crystal Dynamics’ venture into arcade games territory! These smaller adventures opened up the franchise’s horizons, introducing brand new gameplay mechanics, breathtaking environments, inventive puzzles, a charming cast of characters, and a rich soundtrack, while also offering the chance to play with others, locally or online. Both featured the return of beloved voice actress Keeley Hawes (Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld) who reprised her role as our intrepid heroine.
