For who would go crazy in TWST trying to save u over and over i have thoughts:

Vil - Mr. Perfect? Not being able to reach his goal, trying to get to the person who understands him best? ESP. thinking about how he's based on the Evil Queen, someone well known for having a Very Poor reaction to not getting her way? He'd absolutely lose it, have a "where are they now" episode about washed up celebs cause EVERYTHING he has is dedicated to saving you

Malleus - He wields some of the most powerful magic in the world, but he can't save you? Absolutely not. He refuses. Also in his case he's probably resetting the world himself, so the repeated deaths he can't save you from are arguably being caused by him to. He has no sense to pet go - you love him, know him so intimately that a world without you is meaningless. Reset.

Azul - There's no bargain he can make, power he can steal, trick he can pull strong enough to fix this mess. He's blindly ambitious, and refuses to hear the word "no". How could he give up his precious pearl, the one person he knows could see through everything he is that's nasty and gross, and love the whole of it? He knows, deep in his mind, that he can't change this fate. But to give up on you? Truly impossible.

No but annon your mind... so correct about all of this for all stated reasons and more. Seriously how did I not think about Vil? That's genius?

Assuming the original timeline follows the events currently evolving in game, I assume that Yuu ends up dying as part of Grim's overblot. I think it makes sense for the boys to die that first time too, only to wake up alive and in the middle of preparing for NRC's entrance ceremony. After they make sure that this isn't a dream, and that they really are alive and somehow back in time they start making plans.

Vil

I can see og timeline Vil regretting that he didn't pay attention to Yuu before VDC, and trying to figure out how to stay in their life during his fourth year internship because (even if his feelings technically run a bit deeper) genuine friendships are important to him. Remember how happy to see everyone he was in chapter 6? It's all he can do to remind himself you probably don't know who he is anymore when he sees Crowley drag you into the mirror chamber, he just wants to kiss your preciously confused face.

Something Rook immediately picks up on because I'm pretty convinced he would notice if something was that majorly off script about his queen. Vil's raised eyebrow is .3 centimeters off from his normal concerned face :/ he needs an explanation.

Vil's relieved at first, he has Rook's help and you are surprisingly receptive to his advances. For just a brief moment he has you in his arms and you are alive, and then you are torn away again. And again, and again and again and-

Vil's signature spell is a curse, he can recognize the traces of one, and I agree he would be so determined to break it he would slowly start to deteriorate into a actual villain. It's not like time is advancing forward otherwise, it's not like he can advance his acting career while he is stuck in this time loop trying to save you, trying to not let your zero percent of survival stay zero. I could see him spending a loop killing the other overblot mages before they build up enough blot to hurt Yuu only for that not to work and him to get even more unhinged as a result.

Azul

Ok so you remember that bit in the Ghost Bride event where Azul gets borderline creepy over the thought of being rejected? Or that part of New Years where he suffers a bit of sunk cost fallacy over the grab bags and gets back in line to spend more money on more stuff he doesn't need? Or how about his level up lines? Laughing at the thought of being satisfied with "just this much power" or warning that you will just be taken advantage of in this world, and inviting you to seek safety with him when that inevitably happens?

Well you did and he failed you. And no he isn't really someone who lets go of things. He goes out of his way to tell Riddle that he thinks being greedy is a good thing; you could have had a very long and happy life together that hit every milestone you set out to achieve and it still wouldn't be enough for Azul. He will never be satisfied, never have enough of Yuu.

But he's smart, he knows when things just aren't possible. It makes him more determined to prove himself. If he can't outsmart something as trivial as fate, can he really claim to be a brilliant mage?

Unlike Vil, I don't think he would immediately tell the twins what was happening. I do think they would figure it out eventually, and I do think they would help, but I think they would also maybe... eventually... realize that there was no saving you and maybe it's best for everyone involved if that's accepted. I could see Jade and Floyd going to Yuu directly and asking what you want, not because they are opposed to saving you but because they want Azul's suffering to end.

I don't know if you have ever played Amnesia Memories, but I could see Azul following a similar path to the Joker World/Ukyo (they are not similar characters but meh) in a situation like this. Won't spoil that here but I highly recommend it if you like otome games.

Malleus

In a twisted way I could almost see him being satisfied with being stuck inside a time loop trying to save you. Not at first obviously, at first Malleus refuses to believe he could fail in saving you. He is the fifth most powerful mage in the universe. He is a King, he can not think of anyone, anything that is stupid enough to tell him no.

Maybe he speed runs his own overblot and tries trapping you in a dream, only for that to kill you. Reset.

How about killing the other overblot mages? He'd arrive at that one a lot faster than Vil. Also doesn't work. Reset.

I don't think Malleus would bring Lilia, Silver, or Sebek into the loop of what was going on. Lilia- he's smart, old, and understands just how powerful Malleus really is, but I'm not sure he would be able to realize time itself is being reset. I think he would pick up on what Malleus's plan is in each individual universe and goes out of his way to prevent him from doing something stupid. You know who I could see picking up on it though? Leona and Idia, forcing them to work together to get Malleus to stop further driving a wedge between Malleus and the rest of the student body.

And then there is you, troublesome you. We don't really know what causes Grim to overblot, I could almost see a situation where Yuu does everything they can to save their friends, aware that time is being reset and thinking that finally, this time they can keep everyone from dying. They are completely content to die if it means no one else gets hurt, completely unaware that self sacrifice is what is causing all of this. What is one life compared to everyone in all of Twisted Wonderland after all?

Everything, it is worth everything, this world really is meaningless without you in it. Reset.

Things from the second draft* of Rogue One that are worth mentioning

*for starters, Chris Weitz wrote more than one draft (just like Gary Whitta probably did) but these are some of the changes he made when he took over writing duties on Rogue One:

Everyone dies.

Literally the first thing Weitz said after reading Whitta's draft was "I think everyone needs to die", which director Gareth Edwards (and first writer Gary Whitta) wanted to do, but assumed would never be approved by Disney. But Kathleen Kennedy agreed and the Everyone Dies ending of Rogue One was set in stone from early 2015 (I've seen a lot of people say this was a late change, even as late as last draft/Tony Gilroy - nah, it was the second draft)

2) Jyn was still a rebel commander, but she had baggage - she was a deserter in one draft, and a scavenger in another. This had to be dropped when they were finally allowed to see the script for Episode VII and discovered Rey was a scavenger.

3) Cassian was still a traitor, but Weitz gave him a justification - Saw Gerrera had killed some of his people, so he was feeding information to the Empire on the condition he got to kill Saw (or at least got to see Saw dead). This would have probably made his and Jyn's relationship more complicated too, since Jyn was raised by Saw, but they did still have a relationship in Weitz's draft**

4) Chirrut and Baze were originally a Force Priest and a murderer was a "weird, symbiotic, possibly co-dependant" relationship. Baze did the murdering, and Chirrut forgave him.

5) Bodhi was also added as the team's pilot - in the previous draft, the U-wing was Jyn's ship that she piloted herself (and Whitta had cut the team's original pilot Ria Talla), but as the script became more of an ensemble piece and Galen's rescue was moved to the second act, they needed both a pilot and an imperial defector.

6) The mission to Scarif involved Jyn and Cassian crossing the battlefield with the stolen plans to get to a second transmission tower to get the plans up to the Rebel Fleet. This is where all the trailer footage of Jyn and Cassian fighting on the beaches comes from. It was later cut from time/simplicity, moving the transmission dish to the main tower.

7) Chris Weitz wrote a "Space Hannibal Lecter" scene between Jyn and the Bor Gullet, Saw's octopus creature, which in Weitz's draft had dialogue. It was a much bigger character that fed off memories and traded information to Jyn in exchange for details of her traumatic childhood. This was a way to get Jyn, a relatively stoic character, to actually talk about her past.

What's really wild to me is that this was technically the shooting script. Weitz worked on the script up until cameras rolled in London, meaning a decent chunk of this script was shot (although multiple uncredited rewrites happened during shooting). ** Weitz has said that he finds the lack of romantic subplot between Jyn and Cassian in the final film "refreshing", although he also said he wouldn't be surprised if a version of the ending with a kiss was filmed.

And yee! I did say the ‘official’ translation was bad! Thank you so much for remembering my words and sticking around my blog so long. 🥺💕 Anyway yeah, that unfortunately happens sometimes, and by sometimes, I mean a lot, ‘cause a) there are people out there who unironically think it’s okay to take creative liberties in translating because it’s their right as someone taking the time to do it (can’t be assed rn but if you search around this site enough, you’ll find an entire thread of translators talking about this), b), there are people who write for a lot of series they’re not into and therefore aren’t aware of all the context of previous novels, c) there are people who just slip up and make mistakes! Happens all the time unfortunately and most people don’t understand that if you misunderstand or change one thing it can change everything, and d) people who are tasked with translating 99% of the time never even talk to the people team of people who actually published the original, much less are in contact with the author themself! Mistranslations and drastic creative liberties happen a lot for example in the fandom I came from (The Legend of Zelda), which you can see a bit here! And if you still don’t believe me, you can go ask Dear old Author Neil Gaiman, who has even had some of the characters in his books turned from lovers to sisters and everything, a lot of the time completely without his knowledge until fans point it out to him! If you scroll his blog, I’m sure you’ll find those posts for yourself, assuming he doesn’t see an ask from you on if it happens. ‘Tis a sad thing, but Asagiri-sensei likely doesn’t even know when a mistranslation happens, much less do these people sit down and ask him things directly before doing their thing. He certainly doesn’t have involvement overseeing the process; that’s an unreasonable thing to ask of someone when it involves other languages they may or may not even be fluent in. And all the proof we need that it’s wrong is that the JP novel and the Stage Play (both things that Asagiri was directly, heavily involved in and/or directly penned the words of/material of the script for himself) both contradict it. If you’d like to take on that claim, since you’re implying I’m wrong, have at it! The burden of proof is on you, so, I look forward to seeing you send me the individual JP source lines of the Eng translations you want to take a crack at defending and a long wall of educational text explaining why each part of the English translation got it 1,000% right, directly in my in-box. Let's move away from being a hater about fandom shit and towards the topic of romcoms again (I sort of gestured at Bridget Jones' Diary recently). I rewatched Love, Actually after not having seen it since I was a teenager and by God it was a miserable, miserable, miserable experience. I think the only decent plotline was Bill Nighy's character ('Don't buy drugs, kids; become a rockstar and they give them to you for free!') because it had sincere development and comedy (only funny bits) with his manager but the rest of it is just gross, either from things that aged poorly (oh, the prime minister and his secretary is, hm, and the speech at the American president is weird) to just downright not being romantic at all (er: almost all of it) to unsympathetic characters (read: all of them except for Emma Thompson).

The one thing that did conceptually work was the notion of interconnected stories and an ensemble cast that moved in and out of each other's narratives, and this is actually the sort of thing I'd wish we could see more of in film as it was quite clever. I also like that in the original concept for the film, Rowan Atkinson's character is a literal angel trying to set Alan Rickman back on the right course to not cheat on his wife with his secretary, who, um, suffers from some rather uncharitable harlot, temptress, jezebel characterisation, which is really not how it works. Alan Rickman's character is a stupid old man thinking with his willy-ego. Anyway, point being the implication of magical realism actually sounded quite exciting to me, and does actually make sense for a 'Christmas magic' film. I guess I wish we had more magical realism in general lol.

I think what's so weird about the whole film is that it just felt decidedly unromantic. It goes for a tone which is meant to be cutesy and compassionate but it really falls flat in execution, and a film like it could have possibly worked without the Christmas set-dressing. All of the relationships that don't end happily or are unrequited etc. feel more at home in something trying to be artsy than something trying to be in the spirit of fucking Christmas and joy and love and also it's a romcom u guise. If the most inspired thing about Love, Actually is its ensemble cast, then it's not something that needed the whole Christmas thing to work - and in fact detracts from it overall.

Of course I keep trying to 'get into' romcoms because I like romance. I live and breathe romance. But most of them are just... not it. It's not the paint-by-numbers, it's not genre expectations or just lack of chemistry or uninspired scripts or whathaveyou, I think it's because they just explore a seriously bad theory of romance. Romance without character and romance without plot and romance without a meaningful thematic statement is not interesting to me, and not artistically justified. But the romcom and the average notion of romance is just predicated upon characters kiss I guess and have feelings and whoops cutesy accident hijinks and shenanigans!

The day had finally arrived for Harry Styles to complete the 73 Questions with Vogue.

It had come to be the promo for ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ and his schedule was booked with interview after interview after interview, and it wasn’t ideal for this to all be happening months whilst also having to look after three meddling toddlers, one of whom had only recently turned 1 years old.

The house was chaos. Fun, but chaos. And it was also the setting of this interview.

“Alright you lot, this way.” You shoved your children along to your living room, giving Harry the space he needed with Joe Sabia - the interviewer.

“Thank you love, see you later.” He blew a kiss to you and returned his focus to Joe. This interview was the first of many and it was also a major marketing ploy. These types of interviews were so highly recommended for Harry to be involved in and Jeff had thought it was about time for him to do one.

Joe had arrived around 15 minutes ago, just to

run over the script and remind Harry of the pre-determined questions - which reminded him of the answers that you’d run through with him the night before. Now the cameras were set up, the mic people were all at stand-by and Joe was ready it was time to begin. The children had been so fascinated by all these new people, after not seeing anyone for months due to the coronavirus pandemic, which is why it took a lot of trouble to get them to shuffle away from their beloved dad.

A fake door knock arose.

“Harry Styles hello!”

“Hi!” Harry waved at the camera.

“I’m here to do the Vogue 73 Questions, shall we get to it?”

“Of course! Come in!” Harry welcomed Joe into the house and shut the door behind him, not trusting his little ones to not escape if they were running wild.

“Beautiful house! Is it your only one?”

“No, but it’s my only one in London.” Harry made a point of not exploiting how many houses he did have and where they were. In fact, you still didn’t know about the Island that he was currently investing in just for you. You were a huge conservation activist and so Harry thought you could spend your free time helping the fragile ecosystem on this island.

“Did you design it yourself?”

“Me and my wife built the plans, but we go the experts to finish it all off.”

“What’s your favourite room?”

“Um, probably the living room.”

“Why?”

“So many of my favourite memories have happened in there.”

“Could you give us some?”

Harry could give loads, but they were far too precious for him to just give away. The living room wasn’t even a massive room, it was quite quaint with a couple of sofas, a logwood fire and then rugs and paintings on the walls. It was a home within a home. It was where Felix had taken his first steps. It was where Oli had spoken his first words. It was where Belle had fallen over for the first time and given herself nasty carpet burn. It was where presents were opened at Christmas. It was where you and Harry had made love next to the fire. It was where Felix and Oli had had their first tiny argument. It was where you spent family nights. If your house was a map then that room marked X the spot.

It was treasure. Priceless.

“My favourite would probably be when my wife, Y/N, spilt red wine all over the new white carpet and then proceeded to throw white wine over the stain because she’d read somewhere that it helps to get rid of it.” Harry chuckled at the memory.

“Did it?”

“No, God no. The carpet’s grey now.”

Joe laughed, as did Harry.

“I have to say Harry, you’re looking very fashionable today who are you wearing?”

“Gucci.” He blushed, because he knew that everyone would’e known that without question. He was wearing a lilac silk shirt with his name embroidered on it - but really it was to symbolise your last name not his - with a white wife-beater shirt and white shorts. He looked rich.

“Shouldn’t have asked really? Is your wife as much a Gucci avid fan?”

“She hates anything expensive. I think she still wears the same jeans she was wearing at university!” He knew you’d hit him later for saying that.

“So she’s a hoarder?”

“God yeah. She keeps everything and anything.” Harry laughed in admiration.

“Has she always been?”

“Always. When we went on our first date, her bag was so full that she couldn’t find her purse and she was so embarrassed because she thought I would think she was taking advantage of who I was. Anyways I did end up paying that night, but she had actually, I don’t know how, sent me money for her portion of the bill. From that moment I knew it was going to be her.”

“Do you write songs about her?

“Every day.” He smiled at the thought of the one he’d written just this morning.

“Which one is your favourite about her?”

“I don’t know about favourite, but the one I hold closest to my heart is probably ‘Fine Line’.” Harry stopped there, not wanting to share the intimate details of why and Joe respected that.

“Do your children have a favourite song of yours?”

“They go crazy for Kiwi and Golden. Belle loves Treat People and Oli knows the dance to that one actually.”

“Did you choreograph the dance for TPWK?”

“Partially, but I had help from my friend Paul and Y/N helped too actually.”

Harry and Joe had now made it through the house, weaving in and out of rooms, until they had made it to the Garden. Unfortunately, you’d forgotten to shut the bifold doors to the living room and so as soon as Harry came into focus for your children they immediately ran for him. Oli and Felix could run quite well, but Belle was a lot slower. She was only learning how to walk and so she fell a lot, unless she was being supported by you or Harry. Oli reached his dad first and then Felix, to which Harry knelt down to embrace them in ‘super-dad’ hugs as he liked to call them.

“And who do we have here?” Joe asked.

“Trouble.” Harry replied in jest, but whispered something into his boys ears before backing away.

“Hello i’m Oli.” Oli waved proudly to the camera.

“Hi i’m Fix.” Feliz shied into his dads neck, embarrassed of himself. Harry kissed the back of his head and kept a hold oh him around his back for comfort.

“Fix?” Joe asked at the peculiar name.

“It’s Felix, but he can’t pronounce his own name for some reason so we just call him Fix now. Or Flix. Don’t we buddy?”

“Oh my! I’m so sorry about this!” You ran out in panic, knowing your one job was to keep the kids entertained and away from their dad. At least that was the original plan, but both Harry and Joe like this idea so much more. You were blushing red in embarrassment, picking up a fallen over Belle on your way over to everyone else. “So sorry.”

Belle became restless in your arms, reaching forward for her dad. She whined when she couldn’t quite reach and Harry immediately stood up to take his winging daughter from your arms. As he did, he leant into you and whispered in your ear whilst leaving it a warm kiss behind.

“You’re okay love. Don’t be sorry.”

“Hello Y/N!” Joe spoke.

“Hiya! How are you?”

“I’m great, and you?”

“Peachy.” You laughed, leaning down to collect Felix who was making grabby hands at you. Oli was quite happy standing next to both his parents, one of Harrys hands running through his tiny locks of hair.

“So now we have the family together, how do you feel to all be together?”

You looked to Harry smiled to find him smiling back already at you, knowing you both had a very similar answer. “It feels right. It feels like home.” You answered and Harry nodded in agreement, giving Belle a gentle rock in his arms.

“Are you okay with showing your children’s faces publicly?”

“No we’re not.”

“Looks like we have a hell of a lot of editing to do back at HQ.” Joe laughed, but completely understood the reasoning behind yours two decision. If needed, you could re-film scenes of this interview so that it didn’t include your children. Joe had done his best to keep the camera on you and Harry and luckily the children kept their faces buried in their parents necks anyways. “Is that going to be forever?”

“When they are old enough to decide whether they want to be in the spotlight then we’ll see.” Harry smiled, holding onto Belle tighter because all he wanted to do was keep her protected, and his, forever.

“You two seem like very good parents.” Joe spoke sincerely, and it made you swallow down a sob because it was always really lovely to hear such compliments - knowing you’d struggled with postnatal depression.

“Thank you Joe.” Harry nodded respectfully.

“Okay let’s carry on?”

The interview carried on until Harry had answered so many questions. He redid bits, due the children being too involved and he re-filmed answers to questions he found difficult to answer the first time around. He had such a great experience and was happy with the way that the day turned out.

more probably not-great writing advice but wow do i need to remember it sometimes:

if you can’t find the story you want to read, write it. ur allowed to be as self indulgent as you want. if you want a story like that, u are allowed to make it

wrote yourself into a corner? be more self indulgent. if you’re thinking about what other people want before what you want for yourself, you might forget why you’re writing this story in the first place.

you don’t have to tell the reader everything about how the world or X given thing in a story works. you can just move from scene to scene, like a script with its players, and try and trust that what’s important to the focus of your story will be made clear by those scenes. if what’s important is not made clear? then you may need to add a scene that makes it clear. but also, you do NOT need to be doing exposition drops for some things. you can if you want (lord of the rings did like 50 opening pages of exposition). but you don’t need to feel you’re messing up if you forget to. Fanfic often doesn’t include exposition about the world, and expects you to know it or figure it out. Even AU fanfiction, where there’s new world-setups, doesn’t necessarily add world exposition as much as it could probably be delved into in-depth. So add the amount of exposition you want, and trust the critical stuff is already being communicated by your character/action scenes. 

for that matter, stuck on writing a scene? write like its fanfiction. or au fanfiction if you need to. sometimes its easy to forget, but for original fiction you REALLY can just write “name said” and “their black hair trailed down their back” without needing to delve into a big explanation for “this person walked in, someone had to call out their name, and someone had to take them in and think about their physical description.” Now by all means, you CAN do that. But if you just don’t want to explain how a character looks except when someone’s noticing it or its important, then don’t. if you just want to introduce characters immediately as “name did this. name said this” you can. You don’t have to spend time explaining this person who looks like X is named Y. You don’t have to explain what abo is or a princess or a monster or whatever in the world kind of story setting you picked. You can just tell your story! A lot of the world setting is going to become clear over time through context. Just like a fanfiction. I’ve read a lot of fanfictions with graduate students or royalty or abo and I don’t know how any of those things work, and I still followed fine without a bunch of exposition to prepare. 

 stuck on what to write next? think of the next significant action someone will do in the story. You can cut scenes out (or skip writing them) if you realize “hey, maybe this isn’t adding anything people need to know to the story.” (although feel free to include ‘pointless’ scenes if you feel like writing them - if you feel like writing them they probably serve some purpose or indulgence for you at least, and if later you find them annoying you can remove them). Vice versa, if you have no idea what to write next - think of what you need to HAPPEN in the story next. Say you need a war to start - well you probably aren’t going to write every battle and troop movement and leader discussing it. So what do you need? Maybe a starting battle to indicate it started, or some leader mentioning X attack happened in passing in another scene to indicate a war is happening, or some key character fighting in it/dying in it (if its important X character was in the war). Etc. You can pick one, or write all those, depending on what you need to tell the readers and which scenes you feel like writing. Do you need people to fall in love? Its probably important to write them meeting, their first kiss, their first confessions, some moment they feel a crush etc. But you might not have to write Every interaction they have (if you don’t want lol), and you might be able to just mention some things in passing as part of another scene (like mention X/Y used to know each other, because you need the audience to know they’re familiar with each other before the romance starts, but don’t want to focus on their earlier relationship). Basically - u can cut out more than you think later. 

‘meaningless’ scenes have meaning if you feel like writing them. you might write some pointless feeling scene about 2 characters interacting, then realize later you put some critical characterization into it that helps explain motivations later (or helps show their character developing). so feel free to write ‘extra’ things and determine later if you’ll keep them or not.

stuck on where to start/end a scene? think of characters interacting with another character (or an important object/place). Think of an action that needs to take place (talking, fighting, crying, mourning, working, flirting, convincing etc). Its easier to figure out what a character’s motivation and driving factor in a scene is, if they have a goal action for it. Like a goal to mourn the loss of their brother, or to convince their crush to go on a date, steal an item so they can use it, etc.). If a character is done with their action? (And if the action is showing they’re mourning a loss/crushing on someone etc, then accomplishing having displayed their emotional state and reason for it) Then you can end the scene. 

if you want to add location exposition? add it to snippets of action/character interaction to help set the tone, set up the placements of characters or significance of items. Like “the weather is sucky” to hint at the emotional state of a character, or “the buildings look expensive” to contrast a character who feels they lack wealth and are out of place, or “the car moved through dark empty streets until the buildings grew smaller and more sparse” to indicate movement, and the layout/appearance of the locations.

if you want to add character appearance exposition? any time a character sees ANOTHER character is an excellent time to add some appearance details without it feeling as awkward. Or a character getting dressed, looking in the mirror, comparing themselves mentally to another character (which can also touch on character trait similarities/differences). Any time you bring in a new character to a scene, you can also sprinkle in details about their appearance (like you sprinkle in details of the setting) and they might feel less awkward than a big “appearance looks like” paragraph. All that said, you also do NOT need to add a character’s full physical description right away. You can even choose to never describe it fully, or only describe parts of it when its relevant to the plot (like an outfit indicating something in a scene, or a feature as a similarity to another character they’re related to, or a scar they acquire during a scene). Some stories don’t describe how characters look, I can think of a lot of my favorite authors who barely mention details like that lol. So you only have to include an amount of detail you’d like to. (Note: I’m not super good at adding exposition details like character appearance, so this may not be the Most Ideal advice lol).

stuck on a scene you have no idea what to write? Example: Say you need to write a scene about how X character dies. SKIP IT. You’re stuck on how to write it? SKIP IT. If you need the plot detail included in the story, write a sentence like “’X died.’ I stared at Y, wondering if we’d be next.” and just include that detail in a later conversation. Or write literally “X died (other details as desired” then move on. LATER, you can come back and flesh out that sentence as a full scene. But also? Sometimes you will move on and realize that scene was not important enough to need a full scene. Personally, I recommend writing at least some sentence or dialogue mention of the scene-detail you find important but want to skip a full scene for. Because there’s also the advice to put [the scene-detail in brackets] then move on. I’ve never been able to follow the [brackets] advice though, because when I do it then its too similar to a summary/story note instead of a finished sentence. So then I still end up stuck on what the hell to put as a stand in for the scene later. 

 I cannot emphasize this enough: just do not feel you need to add details/exposition by default. If you KEEP getting stuck on “how the hell do I add this information to the story” just do not add it. You’ll find out later if it turns out you didn’t need to include that info in the first place. If you DO need to include the info? It will often be so critical that a scene between characters/covering some action will touch on that detail already by necessity.

I cannot emphasize enough: do NOT worry about writing style. DO NOT WORRY. The more you think about it, the harder the writing will be to come out. Literally just write anything. Once the ideas are written down, you can re-approach them later if you want to change the style. (If its not style, but you stuck on trying to figure out HOW to approach storytelling - then again I say, think of what X plot relevant character is doing in Y plot relevant action that must happen. Usually, a scene with a relevant character doing a relevant action is a decent place to start storytelling.)

Similar idea: do NOT worry about present/past tense. You CAN fix that later in editing when you decide which one you want the story to be in (or figure out which one you used most often), and then change it in editing. 

Someone out there has written so much worse than you. I promise. So much worse. If nothing else, I promise there’s people who’ve written stories you aren’t the slightest bit wanting to ever read. So if you write a story? At the least, you personally will want to read it more than some other story that exists out there. And that? Is good enough reason to write.

If this story will make you happy, or means something to you. Then chances are, there’s someone else on this planet who would find value in it. Creative projects do not have to be perfection incarnate, and its impossible for them to Ever be to every person in this world. So try to make it, then be happy that something that meant something to you was made.

Hello!! You don’t have to feel obligated to respond to this, I just wanted to say thank you so much!! :D

I’m not sure how much sense I’ll make since it’s three in the morning but, over a year ago, I started getting into Transformers Prime, and Starscream captured my heart. But for the life of me, I could not feel like he would love me. I’ve self shipped with over 200 characters before, and Starscream was one of the first where I just couldn’t believe he’d ever tolerate my self insert because he hates humans and he’s such a bitter, irritable character who doesn’t have positive interactions with anyone in canon. I almost dropped him entirely because it made me too sad to think about how I’d be more of an annoyance than a love interest for him.

But then, months later, I wanted to go into his tag and try to “connect” with him one more time... the very first x reader fic for him I ever found was the one you titled “Starlight” where the reader and Starscream meet in secret in a white lily meadow to go stargazing while he vents about his troubles, and the reader in the heat of an intimate moment calls him Starlight. I remember when I read the fic the first time, I screenshot it so I could read it again when I had to go on a long plane ride, and reading it calmed my nerves. I read it almost every week, especially during rly long retail shifts that are draining, I’d read during my lunch breaks and it would help me cope through the hard days.

It’s been over a year now and I have never felt more connected with and loved by Starscream!! ;u; And it’s because your fic sparked an idea in my head all that time ago!! My story with him is entirely different from your fic, but it all sparked with the word “Starlight” and I’ve been building a story where my self insert meets him in a flower meadow every night (which led to a nickname he gives her way later on, based on the flower), and she calls him Starlight by accident one day and it just kind of sticks with him and becomes a habit, and I have so many AUs and... I’ve started creating!!! I haven’t created in years!! I haven’t felt so inspired in so long!! I’m drawing! I’m writing! I’m making intricate worlds and backstories! I’m even writing scripts and making animatics, I’m doing so many things I never thought I could do before, never thought I’d be able to bring myself to create ever again!! But you!! Took the time to write that Starlight fic and I know it was originally a commission for someone else, but it’s still so beautiful and I cannot thank you enough for sharing your work. The way you describe environments, feelings, and how you make the reader feel so loved, is so beautiful and you are so talented!! So seriously, thank you so much, you indirectly caused a ripple effect that made a very VERY positive impact on my life and helped me get through the last year.

Anywho, I just really wanted to thank you so much for the mother of all nice messages. I was honestly speechless whilst thinking of how to reply and I have been thinking of this message any time I'm sad, or at work (because those two things are very related, ha ha.)

Starscream is one of my favourite characters in all versions of transformers, because I too am a whiny brat who should rule the world. One day, my boss is going to trip over and then I, Sophie, will rule the warehouse.

I fully believe that Starscream is this intricate character, capable of love. I think the only reason he lashes out is a self-defence mechanism, like, he has to hurt others before they can hurt him, because that way their mean words are in retaliation, and not their true thoughts, or so he reasons.

As a side note, retail is the worst, so if you're ever sad, imagine Starscream burning down the building as an act of love. I promise that it helps.

I am honoured that you have connected so well with Starlight. When I have time I will write another Starscream fanfic, because I have a few in my inbox.

I am currently in the middle to a part 2 of my other Starscream fanfiction, Undeserving, which I my personal favourite out of the ones I wrote.

I hope that you will enjoy that one just as much when it comes out.

Did I base a lot of that off the dogs and the quiet person part, maybe …? But it helped me decide between Itadori and Megumi because originally my first thought was Itadori but reading a little more I opted for the latter.

Here are some HCs:

Megumi originally makes a fuss about summoning his shikigami just for you to pet, it takes a bit of grumbling from him but he does it.

When he sees the way your eyes light up, and how happy the divine dog is around you he’ll summon them more often, but with an exude. He’ll say something like, “I’m training my cursed energy and plus they need to stretch.”

The truth is he likes seeing you happy but he isn’t going to admit that, he has an extremely soft spot for you and sees you as a bright spec of goodness, in all the evil the world contains.

I think Megumi often comes off tense but he doesn’t like showing weakness in front of you, that’s why he fears showing his softer side.

Maybe the first time he sees your reaction to buys he’s confused until he actually sees why, from then on he kills and keeps you away from any bug he sees, if he leaves you with Yuji, he makes sure to advise him of it. But on any occasion he will leave his Divine Dig with you, just to be careful.

Maybe when you’re training or working, more than often I think Yuji comes along, or sometimes Maki will take you up for a challenge just to test her and your strengths.

I think Maki will complement your capability in a sort of nonchalant way and if Megumi is there he’ll say, “I know.” This is because I think when he gets to know someone; he knows knows them and has a rather good read on people.

He’s confident in your ability and seeing them spend time with you training he’ll not visibly get jealous but want to train with you more, and try to spend more time with you. I think he’ll be possessive of you but you’d never notice it, it’s not in a toxic way. Sometimes it ends with you being pinned to the training mat and it's one of the few times you’d get to see him smirk.

Nobara will definitely comment on it, causing him to flush red and quickly help you up.

I don’t think Megumi is into theatre that much but he will always watch you, if he’s busy he’ll try to make time for you and will manage to make him laugh if you pull out a line from a script randomly.

Megumi is the type to secretly listen to you while you sing, like by the doorway or behind you, your voice will become his favourite thing. One time he will work up the courage to ask you to sing him a lullaby because he’s having a hard time sleeping.

If you want to dance with him he’ll refuse but if he sees anyone else dance with you he’ll give and find himself enjoying it much more than he thought. He asks you to dance with him more often.

Megumi can get annoyed and will snap at you but he will apologise after a while.

He loves silent quality time with you; maybe he’ll lay his head on your lap as both of you read a book or naps together.

He’s more of a listener and will not really give his input unless you want it, he admires the way you are passionate about something and wishes to be that way with himself.

The Beginning.

The beginning of the fanfic with no name. 

No warnings here. It is, after all, just the beginning!

Word Count: 1,276 (I told you this series would be long)

Mornings suck. We can all agree on that. However, we can probably also agree that mornings suck even harder after sleepless nights. You’ve been having a lot of those recently. Do you remember the feeling of anticipation right before a big vacation as a child? Or Christmas? Christmas Eve is the most difficult time to sleep. You used to lie in bed counting the hours in your head. 

If I go to sleep now, do I think Mom and Dad will let me wake them up in 5 hours and start the festivities?! 

The past week worth of nights have felt like that. That feeling when you are 100% assured something big and exciting in the morning, when the sleep, for a change, isn’t relaxing, but an obstacle keeping you from the true prize. You’d honestly like to give a shoutout to coffee for keeping you coherent recently. It’s through the grace of God and Arabica that you even made it to this dreary Monday morning. Which, as you hope we can all agree on again, is the worst kind of Morning. But today, you don’t even care. you’re awake, and it is Christmas morning, time to depart on your much awaited vacation, the day you win the lottery...whatever you want to call it. Either way, you’re done with the anticipatory sleepless nights today.

Even mornings here are warm. When your alarm clock goes off, that’s the first thing you notice, rolling over. Well, shifting over. This tiny twin bed doesn’t allow for a glamorous amount of room. Your body seems to be radiating heat already. The feeling of the humid air is what finally causes you to snap out of your sleepy stupor. You sit up in bed, wiping an embarrassing amount of drool off my chin. With a generous stretch, you swing my legs over the bed and sigh. The walk to the tiny bathroom in your tiny apartment is, if you can believe it, short. Once the shower begins to run, the small space is even more sweltering than your bed. Perhaps some people would take a cold shower to even out the weather, rather than complaining about the temperature as they make it worse, but not you. If anyone ever catches you taking a cold shower, send the ambulance. After all, this is a very important shower. It’s a big day, and you want to make a good first impression. When you work this closely and hands-on with people, shaving your legs becomes a pretty high priority. With such a lengthy shower, you had certainly cooled off by the end. Hey, guess that means the size of the water heater compliments the rest of the loft! You towel off quickly, brush your teeth, and run a comb and some product through your hair and leave it to dry of its own accord. When the air is this thick, there’s no sense in trying to tame the curly mane. While the Atlanta air saves you time on your hair, it’s the lengthy work day that cuts down the makeup time. A quick swipe of mascara and concealer will do, getting you out the door quicker too. Which is good, cause you’re already running late and, as previously mentioned, first impressions are everything. 

Regardless of how late you am, you cannot skip coffee. So you throw on a pair of black leggings and a tank top, and race out the door. Starbucks, here you come. One trenta caramel macchiato later, and you’re feeling much more ready to face the day. We can pretend it was the block you jogged to the cafe and back, but we all know it was the unhealthy amount of caffeine. Trying to avoid rush hour traffic at this ungodly early hour, you begin my trek to the studio. Since it’s the beginning of production, today will be one of the easiest for you. It’ll begin with a script read through which, with the projected runtime of this film, will take a good bit, and then, after lunch, begin to work on some costuming, makeup, and fight choreography. You could not be more grateful for the scenery today. Though it is very fun to be on location, the air conditioning in the studio feels like kisses from heaven on this scorcher of a day.

People are already bustling around when you walk in the door. 

Maybe I got the call times wrong.

You fret. Luckily, a quick swipe through your email assuages my fears. All these PAs must be eager to impress. Weaving through the masses, you make it to a much calmer room. It’s fairly plain, just tables, chairs and scripts, but then you notice the bagel spread against the wall. You love a good bagel. So, you grab yourself breakfast and take your seat, facing the open “U” the tables create. Only a few of the talent are here yet, sitting calmly in front of their nameplates, quietly reading through their scripts for what you are sure is the millionth time. By the time production makes it to this stage, most actors have their lines almost completely memorized. And with the quality of actors on this film, you’d be willing to bet your tiny apartment, for all it’s worth, that most of them would only use their printed scripts to make notes, not to read.

Though you’ve never worked with this cast before, a quick scan of the room confirms that those present are who you would assume the usual “early birds” are. Anthony Mackie sits calmly, although he isn’t reading his script like the others. Just staring at his phone. From the looks of his finger swiping...playing Tetris? Scarlett Johannson, however, is trained on her lines, her lips moving slightly as she runs through them. A laugh draws your eyes to the last two people at the tables. Mark Ruffalo smiles, script forgotten as his costar tells him what you have to surmise is a hilarious story. His eyes meet yours and he offers a slight wave of his hand. You smile and wave your fingers back. Chris Evans, his conversation partner, turns over his shoulder to meet your eyes as well, a smile lifting the corner of his lips.

You smile at him as well, with, you’ll admit it, a bit more heat on your cheeks than could be attributed to the Georgia humidity outside. Because, come on, we’ve all seen the man! He shifts back around, continuing his chat with Mark. You turn to your phone, people filtering into the room steadily now, deciding to spend the next few minutes responding to emails. When you look up next, the table is full, Robert Downey Jr, Sebastian Stan, Chris Hemsworth, and Jeremy Renner having joined the fray. Clearly, with a Marvel project, it’s nearly impossible to have the entire universe in the same room, so this script read will only feature the original six, plus Mackie and Sebastian, of course. The rest of the parts will be read by production staff. As the last stragglers file into the reading, Anthony Russo stands to address the room. With some passing comments about how important this film is to bring the MCU’s Phase 3 to a head, and jokes about the professionalism of his beloved cast, You settle into your seat as Russo begins by reading the movie’s title, “Avengers: Infinity War”.

My personal comment on the Ossan Love HK remake

Please don't flame if you don't agree. The review is based on my take of the original Japanese Ossan Love 2018 after rewatching it over 10 times lol... Spoilers below

Story:7.5/10

Even though the number of episodes are doubled, the interactions among the main leads remain mostly the same and the emotional climax of certain scenes are lost

( A Tian/Haruta here doesn't even show a single expression of jealousy after finding out Darren/Takegawa is A Muk/Maki ex boyfriend and it 1-2 eps between this revelation and the backhug so I'm like...???)

Due to the episode count advantage, the HK version spends more time explaining the mentality before and after the breakup. Some ppl say the Japanese version was too sudden, though even in my first watch I didn't feel it was sudden at all : it was subtle but indeed there and expressed throughout Kento great acting... Though some overlooked or didn't see that at all😑

Due to the addition of too many subplots for the side couples ( chef and the maika san, Choko and Maro, Chief and wife, Chizu and Haruta ), the plots felt diluted as I'm not really interested in their stores, but I heard the plot for these couples are not bad

The emotional entanglement with Chizu here is quite bad and..unfinished.. Like in one episode before, Haruta was trying to kiss Chizu and then the next episode, the backhug happened and the dating phase began.

There were quite a lot of fanservice and lovely dovey since, which I think a lot of ppl, especially younger ones would like, but for my personal taste I find it too cheesy ( taking Polaroid photos together, couple bracelets, feeding each other etc...)

The HK version completely omitted the part where Haruta tried his best to cook glutinous inedible porridge for Maki when Maki got sick, but in the HK version, A Tian was on a business trip with KK( the chief in HK ver)

The later episode 13 and 14 leave some time for the viewers to digest the emotions so it's not bad

Due to the episode number advantage, there's more time to express each emotion phase as compared to the Japanese version ( which was done n conveyed skillfully by the actors acting, but could get overlooked cause the events in the last episode happened in a whirlwind and especially if the viewer actually paying attention to little expression changes and the mood.

So the Hk version would actually fit those whom went "wtf why" at the breakup scene, who would prefer a more obvious transition of emotions.

The pacing for the episodes after the break up, explaining the living together situation with the chief is quite good, although A muk is quite indecisive here so it's also slightly more frustrating. But overall from the breakup onwards, the plot gets quite good and not as rushed as the original version (damn Tv asashi why u cut down 2 eps of the original series)

Acting/Cast: 7/10

A Tian/ Haruta :this role makes me realize how good an actor Tanaka Kei is... He made Haruta to be so confused and insensitive but at the same time so lovable. But for the HK version, I do feel the need to punch him sometimes. I guess the acting is not delicate enough, but I won't say much since the number of years difference in acting experience is too big anyway. But generally, A Tian made me want to punch him quite a few times

A Muk/ Maki actor is quite good looking though he looks quite stiff, without much expression for the first 10 eps. He got better later on though. Tbh, the HK version of Maki is quite... bland. Maki in the jp version is this bitchy and yet adorable young man, that can be super cool when it comes to work. He also generally has a sad atmosphere due to his 'unrequited' feeling, but only at the appropriate timings when it matters. But for A Muk, he's just generally sad most of the time.I guess it's due to the changes in script and role interpretation.

But really, from the first ep up until ep 10, I barely feel any affection that A Tian has for A Muk so when A Muk proposed that they dated, it felt a bit confusing and out of no where. In the Japanese version however, I could always feel that Maki was special to Haruta in some way, and that romantic affection was triggered by Tagekawa - Maki handholding and Maki attempting to leave series of events. In the remake, the emotional flow n climax of this mini arc was just gone...

In the remake however, they made up for more lovely dovey scenes between A Tian and A Muk during their dates,so I guess it's a good thing (though the fact that they're suddenly so lovely dovey, getting matching bracelets, feeding each other all of sudden don't make much sense to me when A Tian is still a bit hazy about their relationship but I take that as the dynamics of this duo as a couple, n ofc some fanservice )

But honestly in the HK remake, I can't feel A Tian/Haruta affection for A Muk/ Maki at all so this love story feels totally one sided from A Muk up until the breakup point.I have read some comments saying that why is A Tian even crying and I see where they came from

( and hence I deem those statements saying that Haruta/Maki having less chemistry than A Tian! A Muk as invalid to me. Everyone is free to have their opinions ofc, but Haruta affection for Maki in the original series was palpable in the mood even if there were not any tangible specific events.)

Music:7/10

The chemistry in the HK version only starts to pick up after the breakup event ironically, but because of the feeling /psychology transition was done not so good due to script and difference in acting ability, I don't feel as invested emotionally but I do still wish A Muk all the best because he's been suffering too much in the HK version

In the HK, I can't feel the raw emotions as in the original version but it's not bad too

They use piano songs during emotional moments but the same song is being used throughout all the emotional moments makes it a bit err... The piano sounds are even a bit too digital for my taste but that's just me. The general vibe of the osts are the same as the original 2018 series, but there are no climax/ orchestra pieces so in terms of ost, the original definitely did a much better job.

However the opening song for the HK version is quite nice and fitting for the vibe of the two leads

Re-watch value

Maybe I'll re-watch again after I can detach myself from the original 2018 series...

Again these are all my personal opinions and I tried to phrase it as respectfully as possible.

Overall :7/10, overall better than I expected

I really liked this bit with the playing card, but oh BOY was the entire ending fight a giant knot to untangle. I spent like an hour trying to sort out one part in particular while my family played cards in the next room

trying to write Ramsey’s voice was STUPID hard; I kept mixing Zora’s voice + accent and Will’s (Ramsey’s) voice + accent and those REALLY DO NOT MIX

there’s an improv game called “the hardest game in the world” where you have to mix two accents and now I see why it’s called that

this is 9x funnier when you consider the types of commissions Ramsey is known for

1. I am very proud of myself for figuring out a way to swap Zora’s speech

2. I got SO close to making Ramsey call Zora a “Stardew Valley character” but decided against it because I wasn’t sure if SDV was too much of a passing trend that’d become irrelevant. now I kinda regret that decision because it probably would’ve been funnier and it’s not like these were made for posterity

I originally had Percy as Sylvie’s daughter just because 1) I thought for some reason maybe that was a thing in the AU??? I think it was actually people going “haha swap!Sylvie would totally adopt swap!Percy on sight” but then like it turned into an ACTUAL thing in my head, and then 2) it provided a VERY good excuse to get the police into the museum in the museum arc because nobody ever calls the police or trips the fire alarm

but then by the time we hit this part, I was 1) in love with the Ashling-King family unit, and 2) thought that having Percy around really added motivation to Sylvie’s character, and also gave another dynamic to the bond between him and Zora, which is just (chefs kiss)

I had a split-second heart attack about “WAIT HOW DO I GET THE CUFFS OFF ZORA, SHE CAN’T HAVE HER ARM CHOPPED OFF BECAUSE I DON’T THINK SHE COULD REGROW THAT/EVEN IF SHE DID IT’D BE GRAPHIC, AND RAMSEY’S NOT EVEN TRYING TO CUT HER HE’S TRYING TO TURN HER TO GOLD—” before I remembered that gold is soft enough to bite through and I was like aw yes nevermind, I got this

I knew I wanted a plot twist of some kind during the final battle because people wouldn’t be expecting it, but nothing that would impact the story, and this ended up working perfectly

THE FACT THAT ZORA IS STILL TALLER THAN HIM KILLS ME

I do not remember deciding that the height chart was Zora -> Ramsey -> Sylvester but that’s how it is I guess

we decided (and by “we” I mean Mari) that since canon Zora hates kids, of course swap!Zora must LOVE them, hence her softening up around Sylvie a lot once she learns he has a daughter :’)

the hardest swap of the Museum arc was Mera and Indus because they were TOTAL OPPOSITES

the hardest swap of the Redwood arc was Ramsey and Zora because they were the EXACT SAME ENERGIES

again... I felt there was just a liiiiittle bit missing with canon Percy and Ramsey’s dynamic, and for me personally, this moment fills that missing bit in. but that’s just me and this IS my writing, so XD

so, just as a heads-up, apparently the people who did the audiobooks changed around some of these minor-character (well, “not-yet-revealed character”) swaps

and since they know the AC characters better than me, I’d proooooobably go ahead and use their swaps if this project ever did continue?? hypothetically??? basically these last bits are all still malleable

I wrote this entire scene with Trixie and Phoenicia before someone pointed out that Trixie and Phoenicia already had swaps in this universe

probably not. but hey!! it was super fun!!! the most fun I’ve had in a LONG time, actually. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a project as much as the Epithet Switched scripts.

Spliinkles thank u for letting me take ur awesome idea and just run wild with it, writer brain went brrrrrr and it was such an absolutely fantastic experience that I can only hope I get to relive :’)
