REVERSE TROPE WRITING PROMPT BY @out-of-jams
ACCIDENTALLY KIDNAPPING A MAFIA BOSS
In Tucker's defense, he thought he was doing someone a favor. A life saving favor, in fact.
"What the fuck-!” The red helmeted guy yelped as a deceptively strong Tucker yanked him onto the bike and sped away. Before Tucker could explain, the GIW agents behind them got in a lucky shot and hit the helmeted liminal with a strong blast to the head.
Clearly, his gear wasn’t equipped with anti-ecto protections, because the guy slumped over on Tucker’s arms. This was bad, because Tucker now had to maneuver about 230 pounds of Gotham muscle while speeding away from government agents. He flicked on the jammer so they couldn’t track his and red helmets’s ecto signature.
“STOP!”
“Ah, shit.” Tucker cursed as he somehow managed to gather up red-helmet’s body and stabilize the bike. “C’mon, Tuck, you can do this.”
Blasts of anti-ecto tech slammed into buildings around him. Luckily, Gotham was used to this kind of shit so people just moved out of the way before going back to their day. Tucker wove around traffic, trying to lure the agents into slamming face first into some signposts.
“Stop damaging the local infrastructure!” Tucker yelled back at them, speeding up.
“WELL REIMBURSE THE PEOPLE AND THE CITY LATER! TELL US WHERE PHANTOM IS!!”
“Over my dead body, you jerks!” Tucker took a sharp right, catching red helmet before the man could slip off. He sped up and took the ramp downwards, heart beating loudly in his ears as he strained his senses to figure out- ah, they took the ramp upwards. Good. Now, all he has to do is bring red helmet back to home base.
“Oh my god. I kidnapped him,” Tucker groaned, slapping at his face before quickly placing his hands back on the handle bar once the bike teetered over with red helmet’s weight. “I’m a criminal. Oh my god.”
Then, as he found his way back, “…Well, it’s not like I wasn’t a criminal before, with the whole resisting arrest thing.”
——
Tucker dumped the red helmet liminal onto the couch of their shared apartment and went to take a shower. When he got out ten minutes later, he found Danny and Sam staring at the helmet guy. Tucker pushed up his glasses (after letting them defog from the shower) and greeted them.
“Hey, guys! I found him while I was running away from Agent L and J.”
“You okay?” Danny asked, eyes immediately flicking over Tucker for injuries.
“Yeah, I’m good. They’re horrible shots.”
“I thought Danny was the one who brought home strays but you…?” Sam commented, arms crossed and a purple painted nail tapping at her arm. “Wait. Isn’t this… that crime lord? What was his name?”
“Red Hood?” Danny offered, turning back to look at the guy on their couch.
Tucker paled. “Oh, no.”
Guns? Check.
Red Helmet? Check.
Bat-Symbol? Check.
Shit.
They collectively stared at the guy in silence.
“…Tucker,” Sam slowly said. “Did you accidentally kidnap a crime lord?”
“Hey, I didn’t want him to get killed! He’s liminal! Even more than us, except for Danny.” Tucker grumbled. “Man, this is why I leave the hero-ing to Danny. I do one good thing and suddenly I have a crime lord on my couch.”
“My couch,” Sam corrected, as she was the one that furnished their apartment.
“What do we do now?”
“Eat dinner,” Tucker said. “I’m famished.”
Sam nodded. “Wait for him to wake up and hope he doesn’t shoot us the moment he wakes up. Then, we explain.”
Danny grabbed all the visible guns he could see. Tucker went to start dinner. Sam supervised, because her boys were idiots and now she had a crime lord in her apartment.
——
Jason groaned, head swimming in a sea of dull throbbing pain as his eyes fluttered open.
Then he remembered he was abducted, and bolted up right. He paused as a series of quick observations made its way to his consciousness.
One. He’s not tied up. Weird, because everyone knows that he’s a weapon even without his weapons.
Two. His weapons were right there, just in reach.
Three. He was surrounded by teenagers and/or young adults who were all scrolling along on their phones.
“Oh, hey, he’s awake! Hi!” The Wayne bait said, electric blue eyes fixing itself on Jason. “Were you aware you died?”
Jason went rigid, hundreds of way to-
“Danny!” A scolding tone cut of Jason’s immediate panic. Two couch pillows slammed into Danny’s face, courtesy of goth girl and nerdy but strong.
“Dude, why do you start with that? Why are you like this?” His… possible kidnapper? asked, exasperatedly flinging his hands into the air as he rolled his eyes.
Goth girl scowled. “Boys. Crime lord, couch, remember?”
“Hey, in my defense, I died too!”
And that- as Jason remained dumbfounded in this circle of tomfoolery- was what snapped Jason out of his daze.
“You what?” He rasped out.
And when he saw them open their mouths at the same time, Jason just knew his headache was going worse.
——
Tucker, effortlessly plucking the actual red hood from the streets: and I whoop-
Jason, whose type is strong, nerdy, and tall: *heart eyes* *but not really because he’s unconscious*
——
Sam: “this is my boyfriend Danny and our other boyfriend Tucker.”
Jason enters chat:
Sam: “this is my boyfriend Danny and our other boyfriend Tucker and his boyfriend, the Red Hood.”

Imagine yandere vampire hunter finding out he married one of the creatures he vowed to destroy. The very monster he dedicated his entire life to kill.
“…no..i-it can’t be..” his voice was barely a whisper, but you heard it loud and clear as if he was right next to you.
You stood still in the darkness, your face was a mask of indifference. If you hadn’t been blinking he would have mistook you for a statue. It appeared you’d been careless and let yourself be seen- by him no less. You could still feel the warmth of the blood dripping down you chin; a curtain of red fell down the front of your dress and stained it.
“Please tell me this isn’t real..” your husband let his eyes wander to the soon-lifeless body laying not far away. Small puffs of air was seen coming for the person, indicating they were not yet dead. The disgusting sound of gurgling in one’s own blood sent a shiver down his spine. His eyes met yours, searching for any sort of confirmation that everything was indeed a figment of his imagination.
“It is, I’m afraid.” You said.
He let out a devestatd choke, muttering ‘no’ over and over while shaking his head, clearly in denial.
You reminded yourself not to show any emotion and stepped forward. “I will not lie to you and therefor I will utter the clear truth in front of you. I am a vampire.”
“No, no you’re not.” He refused to believe it. If it had been his friend; he would prioritise duty before friendship. If it was his brother; he would do the same. Even if it was his own parents; he would die before letting insensible things such as emotions to come in the way of doing what is right. But this was different. It was you. It can’t be you. It could never be you.
But it was. Clearly. The evidence- the body- was right in front of him; unblinking and unmoving.
“You cannot look away from what is in front of you-“
“Stop saying that!” He suddenly shouted, surprising you with the sudden change in tone. “You can’t be one of….them.” He expressed in great repulsion.
Despite knowing how evil your kind is, you still though of yourself as quite good- well, as good as you can be when you’re a blood sucking, murderous creature of the night. So your husbands disdain awoke some sort of defensiveness in you.
“Well I am. And I have been for a while now.”
He seemed to think for a moment. Then he asked, “how long? How long have you been a…a vampire?” He furrowed his brow at the end, not believing he’d connect ‘you’ and the word ‘vampire’ in his life.
“36 years. Not as long as some others, but it should still count as something.”
“Oh god..”
It meant that you were one since the start- no before- your marriage. Was he truly that blind? Had love taken such hold of him that he could no longer do his job properly?
How many vampires had he killed during you union? All that while simultaneously being wed to one himself. While loving one, caring for one and even making passionate love to one. It was like some fucked-up punishment tailor-made for him.
He knew what he had to do.
The first tear fell down his cheek, betraying his stern expression and showcasing his endless sorrow. “You are evil,” he raised his crossbow, “and now you have to be judged for your crimes.” How ironic of him to talk about committing crimes of slaughter as if he wasn’t doing exactly the same. He wasn’t stupid; not all immortals were pure darkness, it wasn’t that simple. They do what they have to in order to survive. Only some killed more than they had to. Still, it didn’t change the fact that they all need to be destroyed.
Your eyes widened when he pointed the weapon straight at you. You expected this. Of course he would kill you. However, a part of you could not stop from hoping he wouldn’t think of you as a monster. That perhaps you’d finally find somewhere you can call home and be accepted for what you are. It was a naive dream. Weren’t you his wife before you were a monster? Apparently not, because an arrow shot at you at incredible speed. It hit you in the arm and you cried out in pain.
While you had physical advantages, it doesn’t mean you are immune to pain.
Ripping it out, you studied the black liquid staining it. Your husband swore and immediately prepared to launch another. You felt your fangs grow in length and you hissed at him. Throwing yourself at him the two of you rolled around on the floor, each trying to restrain the other. You managed to get ahold of his crossbow and threw it away form his reach.
Your husband quickly dug into his pockets to grab a dagger, and tried to stab you. Luckily you stopped him in time, fighting him with your vampiric strength. You had to give it to him, he was surprisingly strong for a human. Despite you having supernatural gifts, he was definitely a match and you had a hard time holding you down. If it was any other situation you would have been impressed and rather seduced by his sheer strength, unfortunately this was not a good situation for you.
You leaned down, planning to bite him, but his fast reflexes let him use his free arm to keep you at a distance. He was now on the floor with you straddling him and trying with all your might to end his life.
Your husband knocked your heads together which was the distraction he needed to kick you off of him. You clenched you forehead in pain and backed away. But there was no more time to dwell on that pain, because it was minor compared to what you felt next. Agony was in your side, accompanied by the dagger you had previously defended yourself against.
Your lover was close. Enough for you to feel his breath, and enough for you to see tears running down his regretful face.
“Why was it you?”
Whether he referred to you being a vampire or you being the one he married, you did not know. It hardly mattered anyway.
In a way, you did love your husband. It was probably not in the normal spousal way but it was there. Maybe if you weren’t a blood-sucker you two would have been truly happy together. Too bad fate had other plans. Even though it was true that you were probably evil you wanted to live. And despite the one threatening your existence was none other than the man who’d show a you devotion and love you though you’d never find again, this was not where you wanted it to end.
With a shriek, you used all your power to push him as hard as you could. He flew backwards into the wall. You supposed he’d fainted from the force since he wasn’t making any move to get up. You clutched your side and groaned. You had to get out of there; somewhere safe.
You stumbled to the window and put your foot on the ledge. The dagger he’d stabbed you with must be silver, otherwise it wouldn’t have made as much damage. The wound in your side burned and sizzled with pain. You had no idea if your body would be able to fully heal you in time for when you need blood again- or even at all.
“Ugh….”
You heard a cough from behind you. It was your dearest. He must be sturdier than he looks to have woken up so quickly. He had rolled over to lay on his stomach and had his arms pathetically stretched in your direction.
“D-don’t go.”
You scoffed at his audacity. “What, so you can finally finish me off?”
He whimpered, “ N-no, I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have done that- why did I do that?” The last part appeared to be a criticism on himself. Nevertheless he continued, “please, I won’t do it again. I was wrong, you’re not evil I know that, I don’t know why I said that. I’m so sorry, please..”
A frown adorned your face. “It’s okay. I’m not evil, but I know I’m far from good- I’m not that delusional.” Then you turned back to the view of the outside world.
“Wait, no-“
“I have to go. I really mean it when I say this, ‘thank you for all these years together, they have been the happiest days I am now able to remember’.
“My love, don’t-“
You ignored his pleas as you jumped from the window. You landed in the dirt outside. You looked back at the house which you’d just escaped from and as you prepared to run off to another town and build up a new life (until you’d eventually have to run again) you listened to the scream of the man who’d been your husband for six years.
What was he screaming? What else if not your name.

✧.* the chocolate bunny that hopped away / ls2 *.✧
the chocolate bunny that oscar had given luna is missing, and you could have sworn that you put it away safely.
Tumblr media
you hum as you tiptoe on the ground, craning your neck for a better look into the cabinet for its contents.
that’s weird, you think, the chocolates are gone.
easter has come and gone and luna has just gotten baskets upon baskets of candy and chocolate. and like a responsible mother, you were not just going to let her indulge in sugar all the time. it’s already enough that she’s an energetic 5-year-old as is.
“hey, babe.”
you drop your feet on the ground and whirl around at the voice. you furrow your eyebrows. “did you eat luna’s chocolates?”
“good morning to you, too.” logan stops right by the kitchen island, blinking at you blankly. he has an empty coffee cup in hand, just freshly picked from the clean array of choices of cups. “and what? no, i didn’t.”
you sigh, “don’t lie to me. who else would have eaten luna’s huge ass chocolate bunny? she’s going to be so upset if she looks for it and i can’t give it to her.”
“i’m not lying,” logan shrugs, turning away from you to head for the coffee machine. “maybe you misplaced it? i can help you look for it if you need to.”
you clench your jaw and put a hand on your hip. misplaced chocolate? that’s unheard behaviour even coming from you — you’ve been meticulous with hiding things since becoming a mother.
“no, i put it right here after we had that egg hunt yesterday,” you frown, pursing your lips. but seriously, babe. if you ate it, just admit it so i can go to the store and get some more. otherwise, you will have to explain to your daughter why her big chocolate bunny from uncle ozzy is missing.”
logan turns around to you, head tilted. “i didn’t eat the chocolate bunny.”
“then who else would have eaten it?” you ask with a small and knowing smile. “there are only 3 people in this house — if luna didn’t eat it, and i didn’t eat it, there’s only one other person in here that could have eaten it.”
logan shrugs, “maybe there’s a fourth member you don’t know about?”
“hey, that’s totally not funny!” you shriek, smacking his shoulder lightly. “come on, babe. just admit it.”
“i don’t know what you want me to say,” he laughs comically, turning as you approach him by the coffee machine. he picks up his coffee cup and pulls you in for a hug, pressing his lips to your forehead tenderly. “i didn’t eat the chocolate bunny.”
you narrow your eyes down into a glare. “i know you ate it. and i will get you to admit it.”
Tumblr media
“alright, let’s get you ready for bed,” you mutter, following luna towards the bathroom. “let’s brush our teeth!”
“thank you for the chocolates, mummy,” she giggles, hopping away from you.
you look over your shoulder at logan, still sitting on the couch, already staring at you. “of course, lulu.”
“i didn’t eat the damn chocolate bunny,” logan repeats softly to you with a small scowl. “when are you going to believe me?”
you walk backwards down the hallway of rooms, shaking your head disapprovingly at your husband. “i will get you to admit your crimes, sargeant. you will not eat the chocolate bunny with no consequences.”
“i won’t have any,” logan smiles, pushing himself off the couch with his arms spread, “because i didn’t eat anything that wasn’t mine.”
“i cannot believe i married a big fat liar.”
“and i married someone who accuses me with no evidence.”
“yeah, because you ate it!”
“did not!”
Tumblr media
you were in bed reading a book when your bedroom door opened, logan walking in with slouched shoulders and a tired grin on his face. “it took forever luna to go to bed.”
“probably because she has an inkling that you ate her chocolate bunny from uncle ozzy,” you retort with a small and proud smile. you lift your attention from your book to your husband. “all the arrows are pointing at you.”
“i didn’t eat it,” logan hums, shaking his head. “maybe you ate it and you’re just looking for somebody to blame?”
“you wish. i’m a good mother to our daughter,” you tease, putting a bookmark between the pages and putting your book down on the bedside table. “you, on the other hand…”
“i’m a good father because i didn’t eat the chocolate bunny,” he insists. he crawls on to the bed over to you, landing on your torso with his arms wrapped around your waist. “maybe it sensed it was gonna get eaten and hopped away.”
you furrow your eyebrows, resting a hand on his back as he lays with you. “or maybe it’s resting in your stomach.”
“i didn’t eat it.”
Tumblr media
you’d been walking past luna’s bedroom when you heard her speaking. assuming that she’s gotten on a call with either lily or logan’s mother.
“i have a secret,” you hear luna giggling. you peek through the small gap in the door to find your daughter lying on her stomach with her feet in the air.
on her ipad screen, you see lily’s face with a small grin, nodding enthusiastically. “really? you’re gonna tell me?”
luna nods. “yes. but you can’t tell anybody.”
“okay, i promise.”
there’s a pause, another giggle drawn from luna’s lips. “i have chocolates under my bed.”
you tilt your head and straighten your back. chocolates under her bed.
you peek into the room again just to be sure. because you could swear, that for the past 2 years, there is no such thing as under luna’s bed. her bedframe is enclosed and touches the ground — there is absolutely no space for her to keep anything under her bed.
and that only means one thing: the chocolates are directly underneath her heavy mattress.
you walk away from her bedroom and make a mental note to check under her bed. you just need to find a way to get her out of the room to get yourself in.
and when logan walks through the front door, you know just the way to distract the 5-year-old. you hop over to your husband with a sweet smile. “call for luna — i need to get in her room.”
“oh, so now you’re sweet to me,” logan furrows his eyebrows, resting a hand on the small of your back. “how suspicious.”
“no time for that,” you scoff, guiding him towards luna’s bedroom. “i’ll explain later.”
“fine, but only because i love you,” logan mutters, dropping his bag right by the wall. he pops his head into luna’s room with a bright smile. “i’m home, lulu!”
“i gotta go,” luna giggles excitedly, glancing over her shoulder to beam at logan. “bye auntie lily!”
they say their farewells before luna puts her ipad on the ground and scrambles off the ground to run over to logan. “daddy!” she says in a shrill shriek, arms in the air before she jumps into logan’s arms. “you’re home! can we watch tv?”
“sure!” he cheers, catching her in his arms. he stands and places the child on his hip before turning to you with an expectant grin, nodding his head towards the room. “what do you wanna watch? a movie? a show?”
you slip into the bedroom when they take a seat on the couch. at first, you were skeptical about trying to find a way that luna could be lying to lily at all.
you check under her bed again, only to find what you were expecting: the very sad excuse of an ‘underbed’ area between the bed and the marbled floors of your apartment. so if the chocolates aren’t there, does it actually mean that luna’s been hiding it between her mattress and the bedframe?
you sigh softly and rest yourself on your knees, mentally preparing yourself to be absolutely thrown into a wild goose chase by your daughter. you muster the courage and push the mattress up. and would you have it: 4 packets of reese’s buttercups greet you and… the damned chocolate bunny.
you grab the chocolates into your hands and stumble back out into the living room. “luna sargeant, i hope daddy was right about there being a ghost in our apartment because there’s no way i just found these chocolates under your mattress.”

Act 4 Prologue (Matias Asbrink)
Translations may not always capture the exact nuances or tone of the original text. Expect grammatical errors and inaccuracies.
Tumblr media
At the same time, in Acroite.
Large snowflakes fluttered down like flower petals, painting the traditional stone-built streets white.
The main street, illuminated by street lamps, was bustling with crowds of people. However, there were no troublemakers here, no drunken shouts or fights like in other countries.
In this country, governed by the strictest laws on the continent, those who disturb the peace are quickly apprehended and held accountable for their crimes.
Yet amidst the orderly and well-maintained streets, there was a corner where women gathered unnaturally.
Woman 1: “Please join me at the lovely party I’m having tonight.”
Woman 2: “That’s not fair. Please also come to my party.”
Woman 3: “Where are you off to at this hour? If you’re interested, would you like to join me for dinner?”
Tumblr media
Matias: “I have work to attend to. Please excuse me.”
Slipping smoothly out of the midst of the women, with his golden hair gathering the twilight’s glow and snow-shadowed eyes tinged with melancholy, was Matias, the guardian of Acroite’s law.
Though his appearance and demeanor were stern, there was an alluring aura about him, making the women gaze at him dreamily.
Matias: “Haah.”
With a sigh, he casually brushed back his smooth blond hair, eliciting another round of cheers from the women behind him.
A colleague, a judge, then playfully tapped his back as he swiftly walked away to escape their intense stares.
Lars: “Quite the charmer, as always, huh? Matias.”
Pushing up his round glasses, the man smiled teasingly at Matias, and his expression changed to a more relaxed one.
Matias: “Lars, if you saw that, you could’ve helped me.”
Matias: “You know I struggle with women.”
Lars: "I know, but having too many admirers is honestly a problem I envy. I wish I could trade places with you."
Matias: "You wish you could trade places with me? Did you see those women? They had the eyes of warriors determined to annihilate their enemies."
Lars: "I think they were all beauties, though."
Matias: "Whether they're beautiful or not doesn't matter. The only woman I need is my soulmate."
Tumblr media
Matias: "She doesn't need to dote on me or stare at me like those women. All she needs to do is wish me luck, fix my tie, give me a kiss, and wave goodbye before I head to work."
Lars: "Yeah, yeah, I get it. I've heard about your embarrassing fantasies more than a hundred times, Matias."
Lars: "Are you alright, though?"
Matias: "I've been saying it since earlier, but I'm not okay. You have to back me up next time."
Lars: "I meant about the trial. The defendant this time is your friend, right?"
Matias: "Ah, yeah. We were roommates for a while back in the Royal Academy. We enlisted together and served in the same unit."
Lars: "You were close then."
Matias: "He was a good guy. Cheerful, smart, and quick-witted. He was good with women too, effortlessly handling situations like earlier."
Lars: "I see. Matias, about that..."
Matias' snow-shadow-colored eyes gaze straight at his colleague, looking somewhat uneasy.
Matias: "It's fine."
Matias: "I'm a man of the Asbrink family."
Tumblr media
The Royal Court, which determines the nation’s justice, was filled with a solemn atmosphere tonight.
The defendant and his defense attorney, the government officials prosecuting his crimes, and numerous citizens in the gallery all watched with bated breath as the five judges, especially the guardian of the law, sat atop the judicial platform.
Tumblr media
Matias: “I’ll now deliver the verdict on the suspicion of unauthorized leakage of classified Acroite military information.”
Matias: “Defendant, step forward.”
The defendant stepped onto the witness stand.
Though looking severely worn out, his eyes, fixed on the guardian of the law, held a faint glimmer of hope.
It was well known among some circles that the defendant had a friendship with the guardian.
As everyone sought to interpret the meaning behind the intersecting gazes, the sound of the gavel resounded.
Matias: “Death penalty.”
After delivering the merciless verdict, the courtroom fell into a brief silence before erupting into chaos.
Defendant: “Matias, are you really going to kill me!? Me, who ate, slept, and fought alongside you? We're friends, aren't we!?”
Defendant: “You can’t do this!”
While the defendant cried out in despair, Matias appeared entirely unaffected.
Matias: “That does not excuse your crime.”
Defendant: “Isn’t a death sentence too heavy for a single mistake?”
Matias: "The law is justice. If you are a citizen of Acroite, obedience is absolute."
Matias: "All you can do is comply with the verdict that has been passed down."
With a detached voice, Matias continued to gaze directly at the collapsing defendant, seemingly in despair.
Matias: "The execution will be carried out in five days, at noon."
Defendant: "M-Matias..."
As the defendant was taken away, Matias watched them with his snow-shadow-colored eyes.
To dispel the murmurs, he struck the gavel twice.
Matias: "This concludes the session."
As the people left the courtroom in silence, he stood alone.
It was unusual for him to stay in the courtroom after it had adjourned, without a clear reason.
Walking to the spot where the defendant had collapsed during the trial, he gently touched the witness stand with his fingers.
Though his snow-shadowed eyes flickered slightly, he murmured with the same emotionless voice as during the trial.
Tumblr media
Matias: "I did the right thing."
Matias: "I'm Matias, the next king of Acroite, a proud man of the esteemed Asbrink family."
Matias: "Until all evil is condemned, I cannot afford to stop."

Tumblr media
When you agreed to go over to Emily’s after you were finished with work, it hadn’t been raining. In fact, it had been a beautiful sunny day and you were walking around in your flowy summer dress. It had been warm, idyllic and you hadn’t even realised that anything had changed. That was until you stepped out of work and it was raining. And not just normal rain, it was a fucking torrential downpour. You didn’t know what to do.
You had assumed that it would stay nice all day but no, of course not. You internally cursed yourself as you stared out at the rain. Why did you never check the goddamn weather app? Were you really that stupid?
Everyone had already left the office which left you alone to try and get to Emily’s without looking completely ridiculous. You crossed your arms over your chest, staring across the street as the rain bounced off the pavements.
Her apartment was only a few streets over and so you scouted out the area in front of you. There were quite a few buildings that overhung which meant that you could at least get some shelter. It would be fine. You just had to be strategic.
So, you waited for the traffic to clear up before you ran across the road. You looked like a madwoman, in a flowy dress while it poured with rain around you but you had definitely looked more insane before so this was nothing.
By the time you reached Emily’s apartment and despite your best attempts, you were still drenched right through. Your dress was becoming transparent thanks to the rain which Emily would love but currently, anyone could see which wasn’t exactly what you intended.
When you pressed the buzzer, Emily let you in with no question and you rode the elevator up. She was waiting for you at the apartment door, hip rested against the door frame as she looked you up and day. You tried not to laugh, a smile spreading across your face.
“Have you not heard of an umbrella? Jesus,” Emily said and you looked down at yourself. You were literally dripping water across the carpet, your hair (that was down over your shoulders) was dripping droplets of water across the fabric of your dress. You looked a mess.
“I’m going for the wet cat vibe. How do I look?” You asked as you reached her apartment door. Emily chuckled softly at you and you did a little twirl for her before facing her again. Emily shook her head in disbelief.
“Pathetic. Come on, you’re dripping everywhere,” Emily said as she urged you inside. You followed her and she closed the door. Her back rested against it as she took you in. She could very clearly see the lingerie that you had picked out just for her. Though, you had completely forgotten how see-through your dress was so you wandered over to the kitchen for a tea towel to wipe your face without a care in the world.
“You know, I think this is a good look,” You stated as you turned around to face Emily. She was leaning against the counter now, obviously checking you out.
“I think what’s underneath is better,” She responded and you chuckled softly, remembering exactly what she was looking at. You wiped off your face and your neck with the towel. Your hair was probably a lost cause for now so instead, you dropped it down and reached out for her hands and tugged her a little closer.
“I wore it just for you,” You teased. Emily hummed out in response, moving her hand to rest against your cheek, “Thought you’d like it but the whole building saw it before you did,” You muttered. Emily tilted your chin up a little.
“I don’t mind,” She responded, her lips inches away from yours, “As long as they know who you’re coming home to.” You couldn’t help the bashful smile that spread across your lips, the wetness between your legs. Emily had this subtle possessiveness to her that made you completely weak at the knees. It was ridiculous.
“Why don’t we show them?” You suggested. Emily grinned and tugged you towards the bedroom. It was going to be a long night.

So it’s pretty on the nose with what you’ve been writing but I was wondering if I could send in a little Stone Temple Pilots prompt… “I gotta girlfriend, she goes to art school” for a seemingly very smitten David Hale.
I’m absolutely in love with what you’re doing with Hale and the artist lady and I’m just really wanting more of them, so hopefully this works.
Thank you!

David brings flowers to your art show, a bouquet of brightly coloured daisies. The event is being hosted by your college in a studio out of town. It’s something they do every year as a way of exhibiting their students work to important people in the industry.
You’d been anxious this morning when he’d left for work, you tried to play it off but he could see it. Your smile didn’t meet your eyes, you had this nervous energy, you kept checking and re-checking your portfolio.
“You’re gonna do great.” He had attempted to reassure you as he pressed a kiss to the back of your head. He could tell you didn’t believe him, life has not been kind to you. You have had to fight for everything you have and it leaves a mark, a doubt.
You tell yourself you’re not good enough, that you don’t have what it takes.
David knows that’s not true, he believes in you. He sees your passion, your dedication, your talent and he knows that you can achieve absolutely anything you put your mind to.
You’re in the midst of a conversation when he finds you, he doesn’t want to interrupt so he turns his attention to your work all pinned upon white boards that form an alcove. He’s always been captivated by your use of colour, the delicacy of the hues, the muted tones. It seems greyscale until you look a little closer, the light pastel shades almost undetectable. They bring a texture to the images, a life that can’t be captured any other way.
Most of your work has a tiny red sticky dot in the corner, he doesn’t know what it means but he suspects that these are the pieces that have sold tonight, that have captured the interest of other professionals out in the world.
He feels so fucking proud of you in that moment, it swells in his chest as the edges of his mouth tip up into a smile.
His girl, he thinks, she’s definitely going places.
Love David? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

Like the Beat of a Drum pt 2
**I'm not entirely happy about this, and have NO clue where it's going next, but we'll see!**
The Red Hood clocked Danny as not all he seemed as soon as they were alone together. After some negotiation (Danny threatening to vanish into thin air and Hood threatening to tell Red Robin), they came to a consensus.
Danny would be in human form unless one of the other bats were around, and Hood would keep his big mouth shut.
“No spooky supernatural stuff in my borough, kid.”
Danny decided not to tell the other man that he himself had a fair bit of spooky supernatural stuff going on.
He should probably keep an eye on that- Corrupted ectoplasm was never a good thing, and Red Hood was crawling with it.
Living in Crime Alley was easy. Hood had put him up in a dingy little apartment, fully stocked with anything he might need- and no surveillance equipment. Danny had checked. He spent his time while he finished the healing process taking the toaster apart. And the microwave.
Hood visited while he was arms deep in the oven and put a kibosh on larger appliances, but he started bringing small broken appliances around for Danny to fix. It was nice, having another undead hanging around. Someone who understood the constant itch under Danny’s skin to keep moving, keep working, keep reminding himself he was alive.
He even was finally able to see his soulmark! It was a name, somebody called Timothy Drake-Wayne. Hood had seen it and made some sort of choking noise, and when Danny asked, he was told that Drake-Wayne was publicly markless. Weird.
Danny was pleased that the wounds to the area had healed completely though, not marring the text at all.
The wound on his chest, not so much. It stood out, inflamed and sore against his otherwise pale chest. Its presence reminded him a little of the lichtenberg scars that crawled down his arms in his ghost form.
Maybe the Drs. Fenton had somehow killed him again, and now he was a halfa twice over? This was his penance, he supposed, for trusting them after everything.
~~~
Tim’s favorite coffee shop was packed, save for one table with a lone occupant. Once he’d gotten his deathwish coffee, he made his way over to the table.
“Excuse me, do you mind if I-“
The table’s occupant, a young man with dark hair and piercing blue eyes, nodded toward the other chair before Tim could finish his sentence.
“Feel free, man. It’s a busy day today.”
Tim couldn’t help but wonder where he’d seen the other before- his face was familiar in a strange way, and he felt- he felt surprisingly attracted.
His soulmate heartbeat thing had been unusually quiet since the night Phantom arrived, whereas before it sounded loud and clear in his head at least a few times a day and long into the night.
He was allowed to talk to cute people while his soulmate was still young, right?
“Spend a lot of time here?”
The stranger shrugged.
“Here and there. Haven’t run into you before, which I think I would have noticed. I’m Danny, by the way.”
Tim didn’t think much of the name. This young man was far too old to be his Daniel.
“Nice to meet you, Danny. I’m Tim.”
He reached out a hand, and Danny shook it firmly, giving him an odd look that quickly passed.
The two of them sat and chatted for a while, and Tim found himself wondering how he’d missed this person around Gotham- he was well spoken with a soft accent, whip smart, and gorgeous.
Tim’s watch buzzed, reminding him he had a meeting- he could have sworn he had two hours between his coffee run and his meeting, but perhaps he’d been chatting too long.
“Shit! I have to go- it was nice meeting you!”
He chugged the rest of his now-cold coffee and darted out of the coffee shop.
It wasn’t until after the shareholder’s meeting that he realized he hadn’t asked for Danny’s number.
~~~
“Hood!”
Jason looked up from his desk as his office door was flung open, and then watched in amusement as Danny scrambled out of the grasp of the goon trying to pull him away.
“Sorry Boss, he slipped by us! I’ll- OW! He bites!”
“Stand down, Marcus, he’s a friend. Head over to medical if you need to- the little shit’s feral.”
Grumbling, the goon let go of a smug looking Danny and made his way to the other door while Danny swanned into the office and made himself comfortable on Hood’s guest chairs.
“How did you find this place?”
Shrugging, the kid pretended to inspect his nails.
“You know, just followed the scent of daddy issues and rancid ectoplasm- not hard. Didn’t peg you for the office type, though.”
Jason leaned back, crossing his arms.
“What do you want.”
“Timothy Drake-Wayne is Red Robin, yes?”
Trying to keep his posture casual and unconcerned, Jason tilted his head.
“What makes you say that?”
“I met a guy named Tim at the coffee shop and he’s got the same ghosts as Red Robin.”
Danny slapped a newspaper down on the desk between them- the cover page was Tim, looking very CEO and businesslike.
Jason was pretty sure Tim and Danny would get along like a house on fire, if Danny had already figured him out.
“Also, I felt his heartbeat when we shook hands and it matches the beat of my soul.”
Pausing, Jason parsed the information he now had about Danny.
“Wait, you can see ghosts that follow people?”
“You can’t?”
Jason stared incredulously at Danny for a few beats, and then the younger man sighed.
“Right. Your ecto is all screwy. Remind me to fix that. Yeah, I see ghosts attached to people- not everyone has them, and not all of the ghosts are actually, you know, dead people, but yeah. I don’t normally think about them because they’re everywhere, but same ghosts often equal same person.”
Danny slumped further into the chair after he finished talking, letting out a small whine.
“What now?”
“Jason, he’s cute.”
With a sigh, Jason pointed over at the newest handful of appliances he needed Danny to fix for the residents of Crime Alley.
“Take that and get out of my office.”
~~~
“Timberly~”
Tim sighed and let his pen drop- if Jason was here and looking for him, he probably wouldn’t get much work done. Not that he was getting work done now- balancing a pen on his nose wasn’t really work.
Jason rounded the batcomputer, idly tossing his helmet from one hand to another, a massive grin stretching across his face. It was a scheming face, a face that said he knew something Tim didn’t, and Tim hated not knowing things.
“What.”
Jason’s grin stretched wider.
“You’ve been keeping secrets!”
With a sigh, Tim turned his attention to the computer. Of course he kept secrets- the entire family had secrets. Hell, the secrets that the entire family kept probably also kept secrets.
Undeterred, Jason shoved his head (read: his entire upper body) in between Tim and the computer.
“So, where is it?”
Tim raised an eyebrow at the other man, hoping he looked as judgmental as he felt.
“Where is what, Jason? My spleen?”
The grin on Jason’s face faltered for a moment before returning with full force.
“Your soulmark!”
The weights Dick had been working with in the training area hit the floor with a loud thump, and Tim could only assume their oldest brother was storming over to berate Jason.
“Jason!”
Heh. He was right.
Jason pulled away, grabbing the arm of Tim’s chair and dragging him along to be a human shield as Dick approached.
“Nu-uh, Dickie- I’ve got good info, here. Timmy has been hiding his entire soul from us!”
Tim would like it to go on record that he hated everything, everyone, and especially Jason. He tuned out Dick’s raised voice and Jason’s responses, trying to figure out how the other could have found out.
He almost always kept the patch on- it’s not like a civilian camera could have caught him without. Even when he took the patch off to wash or to tend a nearby wound, he made sure to do it in his Nest without any recording devices nearby.
The only way Jason could have- Maybe he’d met Daniel and seen Tim’s name? Some poor kid down in Crime Alley? A four year old at best. Eurgh.
He tuned back into the still heated conversation.
“-kindness isn’t hard Jason, and you can’t just use the excuse that we’re siblings to bully Tim for being markless! I never thought you had it in you, you-“
“It’s under my sternum. How’d you find out?”
Dick’s tirade stopped short as Tim answered, his mouth dropping open comically. Jason pumped his fist triumphantly.
“You handed him to me on a silver platter, Timbo.”
Tim did not gape, that would be unbecoming and Janet Drake would never allow a son of hers to be unbecoming.
“I’m sorry?”
Jason grinned, an evil, evil grin.
“Daniel Fenton. You gave his case to me.”
“Case?”
Dick’s voice was high and reedy, and Tim looked over to see that he was looking distressed and probably a little faint.
Jason snickered. Rude.
“I do not have a case for my soulmate.”
Jason snickered again, and pointed at the batcomputer.
“Then what’s that?”
Both Dick and Tim turned to look- it was just the file on Phantom- but by the time they turned around again, Jason was roaring out of the cave on his bike.
Tim flipped him off, just because he could.
Dick collected himself before Tim did, whirling to face him and yanking Tim’s shirt up before desperately scraping at the bare skin, trying to find the patch.
With a sigh, Tim pushed Dick’s searching hands away and peeled off the patch himself.
He felt bare without it- completely exposed to his brother’s sharp eyes.
“You never told anyone?”
Shrugging, Tim slapped the patch back on, pulled his shirt down, and turned back to the batcomputer.
“Came in late- didn’t want some poor kid to get saddled with me.”
By the hitch in Dick’s breathing, Tim could tell the older man was about to get sentimental on him, or berate him for talking bad about himself.
This day couldn’t get much worse, could it?
The Arkham escape alarm sounded from both boys’ phones, and Tim sighed yet again. Way to jinx himself.
~~~
Phantom floated invisibly above the Red Hood, filtering away the ectoplasm that rolled off of him in waves as he stood with the other bats.
“Nightwing and Robin, you’re looking for the Joker.”
The ectoplasm spiked at Batman’s growl, and Danny sighed soundlessly. Keeping Jason away from his vengeance was not the right way to go about things.
“You want another dead Robin if they find him?”
“I do not want a dead Joker, Hood, and I know there will be one if I let you after him.”
Red Hood crossed his arms with a snarl, and Phantom settled closer to the man’s shoulders, keeping a steady wave of calm floating from his core.
The beat of his soul was pounding with excitement, and he took a moment to glance over at Red Robin, who was glaring in Red Hood’s direction. Danny couldn’t begin to fathom why.
Once the bats scattered, Phantom brought his head closer to Hood’s. The older boy was muttering mutinously under his helmet.
“What if we found him first?”
Hood’s head shot up to look in Danny’s direction.
“I could help, and then we could go home and finish Jenga.”
“Help do what?”
Danny dropped his invisibility long enough to flash Jason a grin.
“Payback.”
~~~
Red Robin and Spoiler crashed into a warehouse, weapons at the ready, only to find half the rogues they were looking for tied up and watching a fight going on in the center of the room. Tim’s heart was beating a mile-a-minute with adrenaline, and so was his second heartbeat. He had been rushing to find the Joker at least, especially after Red Hood went off comms.
It took him a minute to identify the people in the fight, if it could really be called that. From what he could tell, it was a mostly unilateral beat-down of the Joker by Phantom.
“What the fuck.”
Stephanie was watching with wide eyes from his side, and Tim caught a glance of Jason watching from the other side of the warehouse, helmet off and a green glow about his face.
“We need to get to Hood and make sure he doesn’t do anything.”
Spoiler nodded, but before she could move, a shadow shifted next to Hood and Black Bat slipped from the shadows, putting a hand on the man’s arm. Hood turned his head in her direction, nodded, and then went back to watching the show.
Black Bat stepped away, seeming satisfied with Jason’s response.
Phantom smacked Joker with a backhand slap loud enough to startle Tim, and the psychopathic man went flying back into the wall, crumpling into a heap at the base.
Tim watched as Phantom floated over to Hood, chest heaving despite no sounds of breathing.
“Are you Avenged, Bat of Gotham? Feel it in your Core.”
The greenish glow to Jason’s face flickered and then floated up and away from his face, dispersing in a thin mist.
“I am Avenged, Phantom.”
Phantom landed with a smile.
“See? Killing him wasn’t necessary- just a little beatdown.”
The second heartbeat in Tim’s sternum began to slow as Phantom held out a hand to Red Hood.
Jason took it and shook, smiling grimly.
“Red Robin?”
Spoiler was at his shoulder, but Tim couldn’t tear his eyes away from Phantom’s face.
“Red, we need to get Joker to the hospital.”
Black Bat moved from beside Jason and punched Tim on the shoulder.
“Ask him out.”
Tim startled.
“I- what?”
She made the sign for soulmate discreetly, and Tim felt his face flush. Phantom couldn’t possibly- but then he thought about Jason’s cryptic wording about Tim’s soulmate the other day.
Surely not. Surely.
I can’t view Batman/Bruce as a real hero
So I’ve gotten into DC recently, or more specifically I’ve gotten into the Batfam, and the more I learn about Bruce Wayne the harder it is for me to look to him as a hero.
I’ll preface all this by saying I have consumed very little DC content, so if something I say is not actually canon pls let me know.
It started when I learned that this man seemingly has an absolute no kill rule. Not a “I try to avoid killing and only do it when absolutely necessary” rule, but a “I refuse to kill anyone no matter the circumstances” rule. I honestly hate this because it’s not effective in any way. Take the Joker for example, Batman has to fight him over and over again because they simply cannot seem to keep that man in prison and Batman won’t kill him or let anyone else do it. I think this is because he wants to believe that anyone can change, and they can, but just because they CAN doesn’t mean that they WILL. People have to choose to change and the Joker has had like 30 chances to do so, yet he continues to kill innocent people. How many innocents have to die before someone acknowledges that the Joker will never choose to be a better person and finally decide to do what’s necessary to protect everyone? They either need to find a way to keep him in jail or just take him out.
This got worse when I learned about Jason Todd. Here you have a poor boy taken in by Bruce, who idealizes him and views him as a father, and when he gets kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by the Joker he dies alone. When he is brought back to life, he’s mad at Bruce, not because Bruce didn’t save him, but Bruce didn’t kill the Joker to avenge him. Because Bruce didn’t love him more than he loved Justice. Hell, even on his grave, “A good soldier”. I’ve seen ppl say that maybe he didn’t say son because he didn’t want to erase their family ties and the kids never took his last name and sure, I get that. But putting a good soldier instead? He didn’t have to do that. Jason wasn’t a soldier, he was a little boy. It seems like Bruce forgets that about the Robins sometimes. (None of this is even getting into my feelings about Bruce taking in multiple children and having them fight crime, literally risking their lives every night but then this rant would be even longer)
And apparently Bruce fucking decks Dick because Dick was asking him why he let him become Robin before he was ready? Bro cannot take any criticism for his actions I swear. I mean, even if he never officially adopts them (I’m very confused on that tbh) he does still view them as his kids. He still helped raise them. After all, they were all underage when he met them and took them in. So to straight up deck your eldest and tell him to get out literally right after your other kid was murdered solely because he questioned you is actually wild.
Then you have the whole batarang incident, which just makes me question his morals more because he’s got the whole “no killing whatsoever” thing going on but then decides, “I won’t kill the man who murdered my son and countless other innocents, but I can and will slit my son’s throat and leave him for dead.” Like, HUH??? Also, didn’t Dick accidentally kill the Joker once and Bruce went out of his way to REVIVE HIM? Honestly feels like Bruce has some weird relationship with the Joker cause he seems to care about him more than anything. LET THAT MONSTER DIE!
I saw someone say that they thought the “no killing” thing wasn’t effective but was accurate to Bruce’s character because his vigilanteism isn’t actually mainly about helping but about punishing himself for what happened to his parents. And if you kill the villains when you need to, you can’t keep punishing yourself through fighting them. Like a self-sabotage thing. I thought that was super interesting but it would also just go along with him not being a truly effective hero, cause he won’t make the hard calls that are sometimes needed.
In conclusion, while I am sure Bruce has done good for people, it’s hard to see him as a truly effective hero (or a good person/father for that matter) when he does stuff like this.
Happy (early) birthday Ruggie babyyyy!~! Everyone needs to love and cherish him NOW. KISS HIM. NOOOOWWWWWW!!! Not this year for this fic haha. This is also just a one shot stand alone and has nothing to do with my Ruggie series so please enjoy!~!
SUMMARY:
You called Ruggie late at night on his birthday. You thought he was sleeping, he was actually wide awake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You laid in bed, smiling to yourself as Ruggie finally answered the phone. “Hello?” His voice was groggy and breathless, most likely from sleep. You gently chirped out a sweet ‘happy birthday’ into the receiver in the darkness of your bedroom, looking up at your ceiling with a wide smile. “Is it already- It’s 1am?! You could’ve told me in the morning.” He groaned and you rolled your eyes. “It is morning. And this is payback for you shoving my face into Jack’s cake last year.” You scoffed jokingly with a hand gingerly rubbing the sleep from your eyes. Ruggie clicked his tongue on the other end in annoyance before starting to snicker. “Hey, hey, that was an accident. It’s not my fault you were so close to the cake. And the birthday boy already got his slice and chewed me out after.” His sly tone made your heart skip as you felt yourself starting to forgive him all over again.
“It ain’t good to hold grudges. When have I ever really wronged you? Some frosting in your hair ain’t that big of a crime is it?” He purred and you shook your head with a grin forming. “I guess not… But honestly, I wanted to be the first person to tell you happy birthday. Since, well, I don’t live in Savanaclaw. And usually it’s Leona who tells you first.” Since Ruggie was the royal alarm clock, Leona always had first place for his birthday wishes and gifts. Which you didn’t appreciate.
“Well start livin’ here with me. I’ll make space and we can share a bed. It’s a little small but I’m skinny enough.” He suggested playfully, and part of you wondered if he was being serious. You smirked and glanced towards the window, watching the moon vanish behind the dark, cottony clouds. “So you’re inviting Grim too right?” There was silence on the other end and you struggled to hold back your giggle. “You know, couples do best with their own personal space… I see articles of married people sleeping in their own rooms doing better than those who do.” He changed the subject which made the both of you laugh. You leaned in closer to the phone with a soft smile, moving to sit up and lean against the headboard and pillows. “I’m sorry I woke you up.”
“I wasn’t sleeping.”
He wasn’t? But it was already so late. “Really? You sounded tired when you answered.” You raised a brow in confusion as Ruggie began to snicker with amusement. “I was jerkin’ it.” You felt your stomach flutter. “You know when you can’t sleep and you think to yourself; hm. I should jerk off and make myself tired.” He sounded so casual about it. You felt your face start to burn. “O-Oh! I see… Sorry for disturbing you…” You apologized with a sheepish voice as Ruggie hummed on the other end.
“Who do you think I had on my mind?” The burning traveled from your face and up to the soft tips of your ears. “Wanna try it?” The birthday boy was making a request. One that left you rubbing your thighs together from arousal and curiosity. “It’ll be fun. S’just us. You just gotta stay on the phone with me.” He cooed into the receiver, and you shucked away your blankets. Maybe you could indulge the birthday boy a little. And Grim was asleep in a different room anyway. It wouldn’t hurt. Just this once.
“So what do I do?” You asked nervously while wriggling out of your pajama bottoms while Ruggie was shuffling around on the other end. “Touch yourself. We’re gonna jerk off together.” It was somewhat intimidating. Even though you couldn’t see Ruggie and he couldn’t see you; you could still hear each other. The soft slick sounds of him pumping his cock, moaning softly into the microphone as he did so encouraged you to join. Your hand slipped between your thighs and you toyed with your clit. Rubbing in delicate circles with soft whines passing your lips. “Don’t be so quiet.” Ruggie grumbled on the other end. “I can’t be too loud… The walls are thin and Grim is sleeping.” You whimpered quietly and Ruggie grumbled something inaudible before starting to snicker. “Oh yeah? You don’t have me on speaker do you?” He asked and you shook your head before giving him a soft no, a finger making its way down to slide inside of your hole.
“Good. I’ll just be louder for the both of us.” His tone was teasing, and almost malicious.
Ruggie’s moans were much louder in your ear, you could feel your hole twitching in excitement as you pumped your finger faster. “Fuuck!~! You make me feel so good. I love thinking of you when I get off. Thinking of you fisting my cock. Riding me, squeezing me so tight with your hole.” He groaned into your ear leaving your heart racing and your face hot and flustered. “I love when you drool and gag on it too. Working so hard to take me all the way. Seeing your eyes get all wet and teary when you can’t breathe. You’re so nasty with it.” He snickered as you slipped another finger inside, pushing deep and curling your fingers against your soft bundle of nerves. Spongy and sensitive, forcing your walls to constrict tightly around your fingers. “I bet you wish I was there, huh? Am I right? You wish I was there fucking you instead?” You nodded silently grumbling out a weak ‘mmhmm’ in response as the coil in your stomach tightened and twisted. Threatening to snap at any given moment.
“I wish I was there too. Fucking you as much as I wanted. Filling you up with my cum- Fuck watching it leak out of you…” His voice hitched, trembling on the other side as he started to sound strangled. “FFuck mm’ cumming…” He growled into your ear as you let out a weak sob, feeling your body convulse as your juices flooded out of you. The state of euphoria was dizzying as you fell limp against the mattress, your hole squeezing and sucking your fingers deep inside you as Ruggie sighed into your ear with bliss. The two of you panted together, laying in the darkness. “See… Felt good… Right?” Ruggie huffed and you nodded against the phone. “Yeah… But I do wish you were here…” You grumbled with a sense of disappointment, listening to Ruggie snicker weakly. “Well… We got the whole day to see each other. It’s still my birthday for the next twenty-somethin’ hours.”
The Past Follows You Like A Shadow
Part 7
Summary: Memories and scares abound.
Notes/Warnings: No warnings for this chapter!
And I am so sorry I took so long between chapters. (Life and work got in the way!)
❤️s, reblogs, feedback and comments are welcome!
You threw the curtain back. Finally, able to move you scramble backwards. Though, before you realize you loose your footing with a thud fall down onto your bottom. You leg out a yelp. You had to get to your phone. You had to call Gator.
In your panic, you heard a muffled sound.
Turning, you see the masked figure in your living room. You scream, scrambling against the worn carpet you bump against the end table. The lamp on top of it trembles and jangles but remains standing.
“Tulip.” Muffled at first but then becoming clearer chuckles fill your small living room. As the mask is pulled off.
“Stop screaming Tulip. One of your good natured neighbors might call the cops, and well I’m already here.” A smirk curled his lips. “And I don’t feel like working.”
He helped you up. His smirked dropped when he felt your hands, sticky from the pumpkin. You stood breathless in front of him.
“Happy Halloween, baby.”
You pushed him then. “You scared the shit out of me.”
“Isn’t that the point?” A smirk once again danced on his lips. “Just like old times.”
You smiled, shaking your head you couldn’t stay annoyed.
You sniffed the air and made a face. “What have you been up to?” A sour scent came off Gator.
He shrugged. “Police stuff.”
You, pressed your lips together and nodded. “Well, I was carving a pumpkin and watching Halloween.”
“Fun.”
You rolled your eyes. “We can’t all be fighting crime.”
Turning the knobs on the stove you began to preheat the oven so you could roast the seeds soon. Coming back around to the pumpkin, you gave it a hard look. You tried to imagine what face to give it.
“I’m more of the kicking ass type.”
You glanced his way. “I believe it.” You stopped. “Gator, what happened?” You put the knife down, easily closing the distance and wiping your hand you reached up to the small bruise that smudged his cheek.
“Is it bad?”
You shrugged.
“Sometimes things get rough.”
You nodded and went back to considering what face to give to the pumpkin.
You remembered how he was before you left. He had gotten a fair amount of scuffles. The rumor had been he hit someone with a tire iron. Maybe he had finally had enough and fought back after all the years he had been picked on. You couldn’t be sure.
All you knew he never picked you up on the drive to school and the two of you never spoke again. The night his father caught the two of you, he changed. And that was why you ran.
A warm hand settled on your lower back. You leapt.
“Geez, tulip. I didn’t mean to scare you again but you looked miles away.” A wet chuckle came from him. “I’m here and I don’t want you that far away.”
You nodded. “Sorry.” Grabbing, the spoon you continued to scrap the inside of the pumpkin to get out the seeds.
Gator, leaned against the counter. “Are you going to bake those like your mother used to do?“
You nodded. “I haven’t done it in years, I figured I would.”
His nose wrinkled. “If they didn’t taste so good, I’d say the stink isn’t worth it.”
You chuckled. He was one to talk you mused. Whatever he had gotten into clung to him.
He drew closer. You felt like you were holding your breath.
“What’s so funny?” He brushed some of your hair side. His warmth radiated from him.
Turning your head, you were inches from his. You met his eyes from under your lashes.
“Whatever you had been up to has left a rather unpleasant smell on you.”
He made a face and pulled back. He tugged his shirt to his nose. “Oh, I didn’t even realize. Can I use your shower?”
“Won’t Mary Sue notice that you showered?”
He shrugged. “Probably not. But she’s in the next town over, she took his niece and nephew trick or treating and might not even be back till tomorrow.”
“Oh. Alright.” You waved your hand. “Go head.”
He drew close again, his nose grazed your hair line. “Do you wanna join me?” His lips grazed your temple.
You fought the flutter the thought it gave you. You smiled. “Tempting but this will go bad, sour if I don’t finish, but I’ll be here.”
“I’ll hurry then, don’t want to keep my Tulip waiting.”
You could have sworn you heard the front door open and close. Despite your earlier in the night, you were not terribly worried about an intruder. This just wasn’t that kind of place. You would miss that when you were back and done here.
You then could hear as the stairs creaked as Gator made his way up. He knew the way.
*****
“Aunt Mavis,” Your bottom lip trembled. “You can’t tell mom and dad I fell off Gator’s scooter.” Tears streamed down your cheeks.
The one leg of your shorts were rolled up a little higher as she looked at the scrape on your knee.
“Yes, Miss Mavis please don’t.” Gator’s voice wobbled. “If it hadn’t been for that rock.” He sighed heavily.
You glanced at your friend as he sat on the rim of the clawfoot tub.
Your aunt gave you a smile as warm as the sun that was high in the sky, that summer day.
“I won’t honey. I will tell them you tripped bringing my mail to me, alright?” She looked at the two of you.
You both nodded. She then placed two bandaids over the scrap. And pressed a quick kiss over them.
“All patched up.” She smiled at you again. “Now, go on downstairs the two of you, help yourself to the oatmeal raisin cookies on the table and if you are thirsty there is fresh lemonade in the fridge.”
“Thank you so much, Aunt Mavis.” You threw your arms around her, as Gator jumped down from the tub.
Soon you both were hurrying down the stairs.
******
There was part of you that was happy he was there and that he had not ghosted you. But it brought up so many things back. So many moments, you had pushed away. All of this had felt so long ago.
Your stomach churched, as you placed the seeds into the oven after sprinkling them
with some salt. You quickly washed everything down, and then curled up on the sofa.
Just behind you not hid by the sounds of the movie, the floor boards creaked once more and the fresh scent of your soap tickled your nose. Your lips curled into a smile. You would not be startled a third time.
Gator’s hands were on you then. They warm, rough but you enjoyed how they felt coaxing you to looked back at him.
You smiled wider when you did. His hair wet hung loose instead of slicked back. You did particularly like when it looked like that. Jeans rested on his hips while a soft black tshirt hugged his trim torso.
“Hi handsome.” You said softly.
He smirked, stepping a little closer. “How do I smell?”
You made a show of sniffing the air. “Much better.”
******
“I could get used to that.”
Hmm? You made a questioning sound as you opened the stove, after turning it off to take out the pumpkin seeds.
You placed the cookie sheet on the counter. Your heart leapt, as you caught sight of Gator leaning in the threshold of the kitchen.
You slipped one and then the other oven mitt off before looking at him again. You walked right up to him as he took a pull on his vape and he exhaled a cloud towards the ceiling.
“What could you get used to?”
“You tulip.” A smirk curled his lips. “You are quite the sight.”
Fanny, my sweet, beautiful girl
17.11.2012 – 14.04.2019
#my art#artists on tumblr#I cannot accept that it has been 5 years already#I know covid messed with everyone’s sense of time but it simultaneously feels so much longer and so much shorter than that#exactly five years ago I was holding onto my mom for dear life and sobbing as we watched lilo and stitch together#not the best movie to watch when you’ve just lost your first ever pet you know#and then I cried myself to sleep at the next morning we never mentioned her again#I know it’s because it was way too painful for everyone involved. but I do wish I was allowed to process that grief properly#instead of bottling it up and pretending everything was okay until I was reminded of her#feeling like my heart was being shattered over and over again every single time#well anyway. enough of that. I’ve allowed myself a nice long cry today and got most of it out of my system#and once I was feeling okay I decided to draw her#and I can count the number of times I’ve drawn animals on one hand so.. I’m not too sure about the result#but it felt like to commemorate her in some way.#so yeah. here she is. my dear girl. the best dog in existence. she was always so affectionate and kind#which I didn’t always appreciate bc of how young I was. when you’re a kid it feels like pets will live forever#never barked. never bit anyone. her only crime was chewing on my mlp and lps toys that I left out on the floor#but I’m grateful she did that. it taught me not to leave my toys lying around and to clean up after myself#she really was taken from me way too soon. ideally she could still be alive right now. but I’ve been down the road of guilt and regret#there was nothing I could do. I was a child. I can only hope that she knew she was loved right until the very end#even if I didn’t know how to show it properly. and great. now I’m tearing up again#I suppose it’s unavoidable. April 12th will always be a melancholy day. and maybe that’s not such a bad thing#it’s good to have a day when I can freely remember her and cry if I need to. it’s healthy. it’s better than crying every day#she never liked it much when I cried. always tried to comfort me. that’s the kind of dog she was. I miss her so much#when I move apartments and get a dog of my own I’m getting a spaniel. just like she was#well. maybe a different colour so I don’t end up sobbing every time I look at it. but spaniels really are the perfect breed#I mean. cavaliers especially were bred for love and warmth. that’s just what I need. it will be nice to have someone waiting for me at home#and while I don’t necessarily believe in the afterlife… I do hope that Fanny’s watching over me#spiritually comforting me when I feel all alone in the world. it’s a nice thought for sure#and hopefully she won’t mind me getting another spaniel too much. it will be done in her honour after all. to make up for my past mistakes
Was there ever a time that Peter was questioned for being able to get such good photos of Spider-Man while literally everyone else had no possible way of doing so 🤔
Listen, if you send people anon harassment in this fandom, especially on behalf of ships and characters that I like, I don’t want to share this fandom with you. I’m so tired.
