???????? SO YOUTUBE MUSIC DOES THIS THING WHERE IT AUTOMATICALLY CHOOSES A MUSIC VIDEO VERSION OF A SONG WHEN AVAILABLE TO ANNOY YOU INTO BUYING PREMIUM(?) AND OCCASIONALLY THESE ARE UNOFFICIAL VIDEOS LIKE A SPEEDPAINT OR LYRIC VIDEOS FROM 2007 BUT NORMALLY NOT UNLESS THE ONLY VERSION IS OBSCURE (THE ONLY EXAMPLE OF THIS I CAN THINK OF IS A SPEEDPAINT OF A SONG THAT ONLY HAS A LIVE VERSION)
ANYWAY I WAS LISTENING TO THE HORROR AND THE WILD (FUCKING. GOOD ASS ALBUM) AND I GET TO WELLY BOOTS (A SONG ABOUT A COMPLICATED FATHER/DAUGHTER RELATIONSHIP DEFINED BY ABSENCE AND MISCOMMUNICATION AND LOVING FROM AFAR) AND YOUTUBE GIVES ME?????? AN MCYT ANIMATIC?????????
IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE FOR THIS SONG. WHAT THE FUCK WHITE MAN JUMPSCARE. IT HAS A CONTENT WARNING FOR SWEARING AT THE BEGINNING IM

bands to listen to that arent lovejoy
hi, i just wanted to make this list for anyone who might be looking for something to replace any sudden voids in their music taste that lovejoy has left if they no longer wish to listen to the band.
the front bottoms - a classic, midwest emo staple. you already know "twin size mattress" and "lone star," i also recommend "lonely eyes," "camouflage," and "flashlight"
pinkshift - a fantastic band that leans way into punk and riot grrl. my favorite songs of theirs are "mars" and "burn the witch" :)
lincoln - another midwest emo/indie artist, his songs deal more heavily with mental health. (i cannot speak for "everything is wrong" as i've only heard the singles off it, but "a constant state of ohio" definitely touches on some dark shit.) "banks" goes hard
the toxhards - a bit more rock and roll, and also a bit goofier! you've heard aengus the prize winning hog, i also recommend "the coffee song," and "doombop!" but they have so few songs out that you can listen to everything at once
i dont know how but they found me (idkhow) - DO YOU LIKE WELL-CRAFTED LINES THAT ROLL OFF THE TONGUE WELL AND/OR HAVE A SATISFYINGLY SHARP BITE. DO YOU LIKE FUNKY BASSLINES. ARE YOU A HATER AND A LOVER AND ALSO A HATER. listen to idkhow. they just released an album last week and as one of their top 0.05% of listeners i cannot make a recommendation list without them. dallon weekes is my 42 y/o wife. listen to "do it all the time," "new invention," and "downside" to start, but i literally recommend their entire discography.
(if you like idkhow, also check out the brobecks, dallon weekes' band before idkhow from which he's taken at least two songs.)
the crane wives - do i need to tell you about the crane wives? this is an mcyt fandom. their songs deal with topics ranging from abuse (from both parties, the abuser and the abusee), adoption, getting mad at people on the internet, feeling like you're bad at life, and so much more, and it's all very beautifully written and sung. "the moon will sing" rips me to shreds every time, but also check out "volta," "nobody," "ancient history," and their latest single "the well"
some other bands i cannot reccomend any specifics from because im not big on them are los campensinos!, good kid, two door cinema club, and the hoosiers. they're very similar sonically, but beyond that i can't tell you more because i dont care that much.

um... on another note. wanna hear the songs that remind me of the captain?
Yes you do. You have no choice. (you can scroll)
1: SHIP IN A BOTTLE! Ship in a bottle - Steffan Argus
I mean? It literally says 'Oh captain, let's make a deal where we both say the things that we both really feel' ok carpe diem
2: Never Love An Anchor - The crane wives
Just listen to it with the idea that the reason the speaker (the captain in my mind) is keeping away is because of how their feelings wouldn't be accepted. Also? 'On some level I really understood that these hands were clumsy, not clever.' plus the snare drum always reminds me of him
3: Neglected Space - Imogen Heap
I imagine the whole series to this song tbh... :p CAUSE ITS LITERALLY ABOUT AN ABANDONED HOUSE. FROM ITS PERSPECTIVE. Its so bbc ghosts and then the captain.
4: As Your Father I Expressly Forbid It - Lemon Demon (+ I earn my life)
This is the captain in about last night.
5: Time Machine - Miracle Musical
idk how to explain this one....
6: Little Pistol - Mother Mother
im getting into territory where I cant explain myself, but please take my word for it
7: Little Miss Perfect....
dont ask me about this one.. look i dont want to talk about it..... /silly

tag game etc
tagged by @solo-uno !! thanks :]
shuffle your on-repeat playlist, then list the first 10 songs
(my current on repeat playlist is. exclusively wrestlers' entrance themes which is boring so. ima do the playlist i usually listen to when i haven't lost my whole min
1)Hurricanes by Rina Sawayama
2) Another Day of Sun from La La Land
3) Brand New City by Mitski
4) Watch Me Shine (Bianca Belair) by CFO$
5) A Lovely Night from La La Land

7) Curses by The Crane Wives
8) Cult of Personality by Living Colour
9) Verbatim by Mother Mother
10) Feed the Machine by Poor Man's Poison
okay the original prompt was "your top 15 favorite shows" but i hate watching shows, so i'm gonna do my favorite video games instead because that seems more representative of. me
Breath of the Wild: the game that turned me into a Gamer
Who's Lila? has a very sweet spot in my heart, as just a very well made small experience that was suitably numb and pretentious but also very emotional
Spiritfarer: waghrsh wahr
Hollow knight: i fucking love it
Inscryption: game play loop breaks my brain
Norco: my brain keeps coming back to this game months after I played it, tiny good indie game with gorgeous art and capital F feelings about living in a tiny dying, industrially choked town. play it
Outer Wilds: sometimes the feelings in this game come back to me and i just. oomph hit in the heart and now im crying
return of the obra dinn!! good
disco elysium: god i should replay this game; it didn't really click for me the first time around but it seems like something i would like
Where the water tastes like wine: playin that right now, and i have mixed feelings about it but its definitely an experience
fear and hunger: a game that didn't really land for me as well as it did for other people but yk. its neat
minecraft: i hate playing this game on my own but i have very good memories of hanging out with my irl friends who i now miss dearly
yakuza 0; a game i have to actually go back and play at some point
the original hyrule warriors, my first video game that i ever played 8 years ago
pathologic at the very bottom of this list because i have a complicated relationship with this game but it did fundamentally change me as a person so. it's earned its spot
absolutely no pressure but here's who's getting tagged!!
@swampbestie @im-new-in-town42 @tubercloset @gayrmlin @existentialcrisisetcetera @god-is-a-dyke @sethjolras @sanpape
if you want to do top 15 for a different form of media (ex: books, looking at you K). yeah go ahead!!

i’m not sure what your music taste is but ‘I Love You I’m Sorry’ by Mel Bryant & the Mercy Makers is very Gretchen coded! especially if you’re looking through the lenses of Regret (im 99% that’s regina and gretchen’s ship name)!! if you don’t like the music, just reading the lyrics will make it very obvious why i think this
Ooo music recommendations on the mean girls blog 👀.
This song gives off a desperate type of self loathing, or perhaps a self-loathing type of desperation, which yes, comes across very Gretchen. There are also some lines that feel Regina ish to me? ("I never learned how to deal with my emotions", "I've grown up watching lovers fading and making mistakes", etc) But the more I listen to it the more Gretchen it seems on an emotional level. I have always said they have a lot in common lol.
Anyway, cool song. Reminded me of The Crane Wives for some reason. I listened to it like five times in a row and then immediately put it in my regret playlist, if that tells you anything.

Head so full about your band AU rn, I have to share the connections my brain has been making
First of all, Kung Lao getting his bass all bloody? This reminds me so much of Sodo from the band Ghost who did this (multiple times, might I add) and his white guitar was all bloody.. yummy
Then Sento as the drumsticks? Dude that's so smart and the crack potential is unreal (the fans will learn to ignore all the weird stuff happening during concert with time I'm sure lol)
Also, I know I will never hear Raiden's death growl or angelic voice, but in my head it's so clear how amazing he sounds, I can bet how many fans the guys have just purely after hearing him and not even knowing anything about the band itself
AND THEN THEY KISS YEAH (sorry I had to)
The Lin Kuei boys and the whole "guess's who's popular now" is making me remember being an old Hollywood Undead fan and seeing Deuce loose all his reputation lmaoo
Then Havik's growl.. this is making me feel things I didn't know I could
And God I love LOVE Crane Wives, and you are so right about the vibes and how they fit perfectly together, you're so big brain my friend
And please the girls.. Wish I was a girl kisser rn, they all sound so dreamy
Also I can't just ignore this: Shang Tsung and Lady Gaga? Honey, I'd be in the front row at every concert praying he looked at me while serving absolute cunt are you kidding me
AND A FUJIN MENTION OMG!! It's like when you heard a song in the supermarket circa 2016 when you were out shopping with your mother on a hot summer day and heard it exactly once (1) since then. You can remember the words, the rythm, but no matter how hard you try, you just can't find it.
I'm so sorry for all this, I just love all of it so much and have so many thoughts.. Please tell me you're planning to make more
- <3 anon
kung lao was partially inspired by that (ive listened to ONE ghost song i apologize)... but also I PLAY TOO HARD... as for Sento im a big fan of the little(?) details but also i am actually sentos #1 fan move over kenshi. Raiden would have those real sweet and soft vocals outside of the death growl but all i can really imagine in my head is him throwing his head back and leaning down and putting his entire heart into it. ON THAT THOUGH... there's a very specific reason as to why i put kenshi on drums and kung lao on bass... these two are the heart of the band but in comparison to johnny and raiden they always fall short of the love?? so like. just saying. ahem.
also used to be a fan of hollywood undead but i have no idea what happened to them i was like 12 and they were just bangers for me at the time.
EVERYTHING ELSE THO IM SO GLAD U ENJOY IT... i remember when i first started participating in fandoms i always wanted to make an au... but also like i was like 10 and bad at writing but also. fandoms around that time were less than savory. KNOWING PEOPLE LIKE THIS ONE IS LIKE. little undertale obsessed frey is so happy LMFAOOOO. i could probably write so much. soooooo much about it. i might. but i have like 50 asks to catch up on not to mention my drafts sighs
BUT SERIOUSLY IM SO GLAD PEOPLE LIKE IT AUGHGGSGHHDGHHHH IDC HOW MANY TIMES I SAY IT I MEAN IT EACH AND EVERYTIME

jesse & lake songs
nobody asked but here's my list of jesslake songs, minus the ones i found from the fandom which i can make a separate list of if y'all want. i'm here to validate myself lol so these are all the ones i came up with on my own (some of em are specific to just lake or just jesse and some of them make absolutely no sense to anyone else but yknow)
lake songs
Renegade by Styx
the whole song is about being on the run from the cops and in fear for your life do i really need to say much more. plus its a banger. it's one of those songs i would definitely make an animatic for if i had the patience
My Silver Lining by First Aid Kit
first aid kit has been my comfort band, if you will, for years, and i've known this song for years, but recently i actually listened to the lyrics properly (auditory processing issues who) and was like holy shit this screams lake. it's about being stuck someplace you hate and wanting to break out. i was gonna point out some of the lyrics that really stick out to me but it's just. the WHOLE song. but if i had to pick my favorite for this context, it'd be the chorus:
"i hear a voice calling / calling out for me / these shackles i've made in an attempt to be free / be it for reason, be it for love / i won't take the easy road."
(and like. there's always a chance i'm massively mis interpretting the lyrics so,,, idk lol)
jesse songs
Empty Page by The Crane Wives
yknow how at some point basically everyone in our fandom realizes "omg the b2 title 'cracked reflection' applies to jesse too because he copies the people around him!!!" it's that but in a banger song
it's also a little depressing but let jesse be sad sometimes ppl he needs catharsis too
jesse & lake songs
Rebel Heart by First Aid Kit
this one is in this section cause it fits for both of them. like it could see the lyrics being from either of their perspectives. it's also another one where its basically just the WHOLE song that i feel fits but here's some highlights:
"you told me once i had a rebel heart / i don't know if that's true / but i believe you saw something in me that lives inside you too"
"i know you truly saw me / even if just for a while / maybe that's why it hurts now / to leave it all behind"
"i don't know what it is that makes me run / that makes me wanna shatter everything that i've done / why do i keep dreaming of you? / why do i keep dreaming of you? / is it all because of my rebel heart?"
this is another one i can picture an animatic for. curse you adhd
Wait for Me from Hadestown
(i personally like either the concept album version or the nytw/live version best for them)
listen. i'm never gonna be over the parallels between jesse and lake's story and orpheus and eurydice's (in hadestown specifically, lol). obviously the chorus is the part that really fits, but it just reminds me so much of the mall car, the wasteland, and so on, of all the shit that both jesse and lake go through to get back to each other and to get home. dont touch me im emotional again
Vanilla Twilight by Owl City
"please i just want u to hold me again" the song. also it's just nostalgic for me cause owl city my beloved. reminds me of AUs where jesse can't get back on the train and is just stuck missing lake, not knowing what to do and just generally Being Depressed Now
"the silence isn't so bad / till i look at my hands and feel sad / 'cause the spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly"
"drenched in vanilla twilight / i'll sit on the front porch all night / waist deep in thought because when i think of you, i don't feel so alone"
Ribs by Lorde
this one is mostly just vibes. as far as the lyrics the most i can understand is "growing up sucks." i found the song through a connverse animatic and the connverse fandom got me into infinity train so i guess my brain connected them? but the vibes are so good.
"you're the only friend i need / sharing beds like little kids"
Little Soldiers by The Crane Wives
i almost forgot this one cause i forgot to put it on my playlist cause i hear it all the time on cd in my car. my GOD this is the most jesslake song out there i swear to god. i don't even know how to articulate it more than that. please just go listen to it
the "i swear that i loved you/i swear that you loved me" parts get to me man. holy shit.

listen normally this question (5. name an album you feel is perfect) would lead to me talking about Get Olde/Second Wind, razzmatazz, counterfeit arcade, litterally most crane wives albums or if were stretching the definition to include albums with only one or two songs i skip every time but are otherwise pretty nice we'd have alot. but you know what. yeah. the last life album is pretty cool.
so you know what. im going to go in order. what do i like about every song.
Light the Fire. ive never played castlevania but this is what id imagine itd sound like really short but a good intro. very nice and lovely gives the same impression of fucking around and finding out and coming across a shrine for the first time and going. oo whatll happen if i do THIS. similar feeling to coming across the first connie board. discovery of something very useful but is probably going to be more than you bargained for. only complaint is that its short and id love to hear a longer version but it works for what it is.
The Crown. i like the piano :] feels like a weird mix between a bossfight and a grand area where nothing spans and its just you alone with the scenery and somethings off. also noting abt the yt ver i like how the sky slowly changes colors and the sun sets. excellent touch. i almost didnt notice the change of song between this and the next one and thought it was one giant song and thought the switch was cool. the effect still stands if ur watching it back to back. overall its just a song w rlly good atmosphere
Divine intervention. repeat point about how it transitions from the previous song into this rlly well. like the weird rumbling noise in the back that kinda pitches up and down and dips in and out. like it alot. again another song that just has excellent vibes. also love the drums the drums were a nice touch. also i keep thinking theres SOME form of strings (again cant quite place it down. likely because its another synth but. the effects nice) overall rlly cool a nice lead into the next song. love the fadeout at the end (also i am not going to go over all the art but trust me i am noticing the cool transitions and changes in the artwork and i am going WWOOOOO THE FIRE WENT OUT YAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)
Console. like the weird little dips it does the dweeeoooooop. that. very cool. also the whiny high pitches noise is a very good addition for like a really weird comparison alot of the songs, and this especially, reminds me of the one factory level background music in jsab. you know the one. also like the instrument. not sure what it is but i like its addition halfway through. very cool. very awesome.also im not sure if this was my device or not but i like the occasional stutter it does where. (looked up the effects name and its simply called an audio stutter) like that. i think it only happened once??? but it fits the song and it fits the character the song is for very nicely. console is :] one of my favorite songs off of this album which. unsuprisingly it is VERY hard to choose. you put your all into these songs and it is VERY apparent.
Call of the Void. This song feels... very short???? for some reason when its not. its not anything detracting from it its just a weird effect. kinda like on other decent sized songs (call of the voids about 3ish minutes from my count) that still feel too short.. i think it just comes down to the songs just really cool. I like the . it sounds like a reversed flute?? towards the middle but im not 100% sure. like everything here it could just be another synth. insert a fallout 4 refrence here. either way this song is REALLY cool i like it alot also the garbled speech noises. cool addition. im not sure if its meant to be saying anything or is just garbled speech noises but either way. VERY cool. also obligatory !!! woaw people !! live on the tv. amazing
.execute() I LIKE THE WEIRD CRUNCHY BIT AT THE START. it sounds like weird messed up footsteps i like it. the cymbols are really nice. like the weird im not even sure how to describe it it sounds like a pitched down pipe being repeatedly slammed against a wall for a melody. very nice very cool. also like the weird garbled ??? scream?? audio distortion?? something 1/3rd of the way through. gives it a nice touch. also again love the string soundalikes. maybe one day we can have actual strings but until then the synth string soundalikes are super cool sounding. like the funky crunching symbol like noises. remind me of clapping. love the melody. love the song. fights w console for favorite song.
Fell out of the world. love the piano and softer sound it has to it. also shoutout to the 'pacing' of this album. i noticed alot of the more actiony songs are samwhiched between softer songs and vice versa with a few exceptions (which i do think those exceptions serve to enhance album pacing. it is. important to me that songs in order on an album sound nice when played back to back. its about how you spread out your songs. if that makes any sense). its a nice touch i dont know how else to describe it. its very nice. now onto the song. this once again feels like. some abandoned area you just. wander through to take in the scenery. again like the string sound alikes. if i wasnt aquainted with the nnk soundtrack and someone came up to me and showed me this song and told me it was the song to some secret area in the game, i might believe them. it has that sort of grand feeling to it.
Godshard. somehow more calmer than the last one. but it just feels sad. this feels like the song you get if you end up accidentily getting the bad ending in a game. a tragedy of errors that got you to this point. now im not a tip top expert on what happened after i got you know. murdered in a hole. which gg cant wait to avenge myself s2. but this seems to fit the story as best i know it. it just. feels sad. a building left to rot and decay. thats the best way i can describe that song. melancholy. thats the word im lookign for. godshard is melancholy.
Terminal Velocity. in contrast to the last this one feels sinister. something is wrong here. the piano feels slightly out of tune and i think that works nicely. love the lower chords :] it just sounds really neat. actually. you know what the piano here reminds me of. those like. really REALLY old pianos that are out of tune due to age and their keys only go down when you press oon them with some force, and their keys are rounded off from use. the keys are starting to yellow and it has a weird echoy hum to it. if youve ever played a piano like that you know what i mean. really adds to the eerie atmosphere the song has going on. a lovely closing song to a really really cool album. you worked so hard on this and you can tell. and it PAYS OFF.
but uh yeah. the last life album was pretty good
Everyone go listen to @bintied 's newest album !!!

i recently found a music artist i really like.
the artist is eel valley, she only has 500~ give or take monthly listeners, and she's also part of the band kitsch club which made the song burn it down and also has Louie zong in it. (another really good music artist.)
eel valleys music makes me feel... happy. one particular one ive been listening to on repeat is The Lake, my favourite lyric from the song is this: "every year the lake gets lower / we find things below the water".
anyways, i really enjoy her music. i don't really think its in a normal way. like, i love the oh hellos and the crane wives and especially love the the bottoms, but ive never enjoyed their songs in the same... way you know? it feels a lot like a deeper connection. almost as if eel valleys songs are inherently me.
anyways, i can't really tell if im just hyperfixtated or its something different, but i will be looking into songkin later. (anyone know hoe to figure that out, by the way? songkin? and how am i sure its not just one of my headmates and passive influence and stuff?)
anyways listen to eel valley her music slaps.

😍🐶🎵 for the basic asks. ♡
thank you!!! i'm also going with fate for these because. look im not even going to bother justifying it anymore. readmore bc i got carried away lyricposting
😍: Name your three favorite things about your f/o
their voice!!!! hgfdghgf i could listen to them speak all day their voice is just so pretty and soothing
i do feel like underneath it all they have a good heart. they always seem so genuine when they commend the protagonist and i don't think, if they thought they had any other way out of their job (prior to the takeover ending where the player gives them one), they would have chosen to end the world. they take remarkably little convincing in the takeover ending, after all.
they have so many cute quirks and i feel like i discover more every time i replay the game.
🐶: If you and your f/o were to get a pet, what would it be?
i feel like we would get another cat. a new friend for lady :) a new friend that she would probably alternate between bullying relentlessly and getting into mischief with :)
it would probably be either a sphynx cat (wish fulfillment on my part bc i cant afford one irl 😔) or a black domestic shorthair (for the vibes)
🎵: What are some song lyrics that make you think of your f/o/your relationship with your f/o?
resisting the urge to just post the entirety of "curses" by the crane wives but. some highlights from the playlist:
I will bring a mirror, so silver, so exact
So precise and so pristine, a perfect pane of glass
I will set the mirror up to face the blackened sky
You will see your beauty every moment that you rise
(you are the moon, the hush sound)
If we're gonna die, bury us alive
If you're searching for us, you'll find us side by side
(dark doo wop, ms mr)
You move through the room
Like breathing was easy
If someone believed me
They would be as in love with you as I am
(angels, the xx)

i shall explain how my day is going so far... if you dont mind...
wake up at 6:23am and slept again and woke up at 6:40am. i prayed as i usually do when i wake up and opened my phone to check on tumblr. reblogged the top posts i see and tried to answer a quiz but got interrupted by my mom who said i should get ready. after getting ready, i ate breakfast and set up my desk incase i'll have another orientation. waiting and waiting and waiting while being half asleep. during those hours i decided to play sky while listening to the happy fits and the crane wives. my dad interrupted me and asked me to do my chores. chores done, i waited some more. no announcements so far, so i decided to finally make my carrd. i ended up being unsatisfied with it so i discontinued and try to look for designs i might like. our electricity got cut off, i layed in bed, my mom said that my official school day moved to thursday. the electricity is here now yey!! i chatted with y'all, i scrolled through social media and played sky again and now im typing this really long ask for you. also the whole time i was actually questioning my whole existence (as i do on a daily basis), trying to figure out who i was because i dont even know who i am, made fictional character monologues, and thought of storylines that involves questioning my will to live and just a bunch of (tw blood, gore, etc.). and yup that's about all sorry for this very long ask and i probably over shared too much but dw even after i said such concerning things i feel fine like really i just like thinking about potential storylines that involves... yk.
OMG LONG ASK ABOUT YOUR DAY I AM IN HEAVEN IM HONORED THAT YOU SHARED ALL OF THIS WITH ME ILY ILY ILY

hellohellohello!!! wanted to pop in and say i just finished reading aftershocks!!! i kind of ended up pulling an all nighter for a completely unrelated reason (read: energy drink o.O) and about two and a half hours ago i landed on your fic series!!! i was very intrigued by the premise so i sat down at my desk, put on some will wood and the crane wives in the background, and read through the entire thing in one sitting!! and let me say: holy SHIT!!! HOLY FLIPPITY FLOPPITY FUCKITY FUCKING HELL SHIT!!!!!!! that's probably very incoherent but hey, i haven't slept in 26 hours xD!!!
anyway i wanted to say that your writing is like. so brilliant?? it's gorgeous and it really shows how much dedication, love and time went into it. all of the wording felt so deliberate and i, on multiple occasions, found myself jumping up and down in my office chair, phone in hand, squealing like a mad man because certain scenes just!!!! gave me brain worms!!! the transition from xelqua to grian was written AMAZINGLY, all of the hermits felt so true to themselves and i could hear the stuff you'd written them to say, in their actual voices!!! like!! that takes genuine talent!!
i could genuinely ramble on and on and ON, about every little detail about your fic, praising you every step of the way because you did an AMAZING job. the way the watchers were described as essentially being demigods but not quite, the way grian could see code, not just see it like xisuma can, but actually SEE it and observe how everything interacted with everything else was genuinely a brilliant spin on the fan depictions!! the history that mumbo and grian had being hinted at throughout the entire thing and then when they finally met, things started to click into place even more, the way you described mumbo as grian's home, referred to him as "home"!!!!! holy shit!!!!!
sorry that this ask is like a million words long but !!!! there is so much to say !!! i am currently recommending this fic to literally everyone i know even if all they've done is watch One hc video or heard of ccmumbo or something!!!! it's just!! i cannot wait to reread it when im not running on far too much caffeine so i can slowwww down and really take everything in again. im really glad the switch from platonic to romantic occured because it felt so natural? like these characters were written to love each other from the very start, even though you didn't quite intend that until later.
i think that might be enough of my rambling for now!! but don't be surprised if i return later on with more to say because AAAAAAAAA. your writing genuinely blows me away.
Hi mate!! Let me tell you; that's a rather fitting backing soundtrack!! I didn't listen to much Crane Wives while writing, however Will Wood was 100% on the playlist.
Thank you so much!!! I'm really touched to hear that mate - I put a lot of love into this series, and to hear that it comes across will never not make my day!! :D
One of my favorite parts was writing the code interactions, actually! Well, of the lore anyways dkljfh - I actually have plans to explore that idea at a later time!!
And gosh!!! Thank you so much - I'm really honored!! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Aftershocks so much! Their relationship is something I haven't looked back upon once, really, once I made that first step towards them being romantically involved. I think it just narratively feels more satisfying than what I had originally planned - and of course, them being so sweet on one another helps.
Again, thanks for this lovely message mate - and I hope you slept well!

Hii there, im the song rec anon from a while ago haha, just curious, how did you like the songs?
Hi! I listened to them!! This is my live commentary hehe
Gajendra by Willow : this one's so pretty, I like the music break at 1:15, it does sound really sad but a bit of a lighter-sounding sad if that makes sense? like it doesn't sound off the bat sad but if you listen to the lyrics then you're like OH that's sad as hell
Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap: THIS IS OFF THE BAT SAD, it does capture that feeling of deep sadness, it's a very gentle sounding song
A Tale of Outer Suburbia (release) by Hands like Houses: i like the angsty soft rock sound, i really like this one! angsty, sad. there's so much pain in his voice which i love. "This doesn't look like home" hit hard
Fin by Anberlin: it really is long wow! big sad, the lyrics do hit very hard
Can't go back by The Crane Wives: i'm immediately hooked by the soft violins, it's giving sad Irish countryside, definitely feel these lyrics man, "all the self loathing in the world won't change a thing" wow they're so right, you just gotta keep carrying on even when it's hard
I'll still have me by Cyn: oof-this one's gonna hurt huh...OUCHY THIS ONE'S AN OUCHY AHHHHH straight to my depressing songs playlist..."now my secrets stay with me" was so real
One More Light by Linkin Park: this one's gonna hurt like a motherfer... yup. ouch. i don't even know what to say, it's just so sad :(
Ghosting by Mother Mother: this one wasn't really my style! too much banjo, but the lyrics are very sad and i loved the brief musical motif at 2:30-2:38
Euthanasia by Will Wood: those poor little rats :( i feel like this is the perfect song for someone who has lost a pet! it's a really sweet song
Casimir Pulaski Day by Sufjan Stevens: never heard this one! this one's sad as helllll...
To summarize, thank you for all the sadness! Much appreciated!
