Feb 2023 Wk 2

Being a highly subjective assessmen t of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

My School President (Fri YT) ep 11 of 12 - It’s an ep 11 so we knew this was gonna be a downer. This was definitely a “date me date my friends” kind of situation. At this rate, GeminiFourth’s other characters in Chicken are going to kiss before TinnGun do. I love Tinn’s dad. Also, it looks like our a tiny little ship of crumbs is sailing. How cute is that!? Sunshine + sunshine! Bonza.

Bed Friend (Sat YT & iQIYI uncut) 1 of 8 - Fuck buddies get messy, AKA Between Us the second cumming only this time in an office (and on a desk). I have been waiting for James to hold down (or be held down in) a BL for years! All hail the new kings of high heat. BUCKLE UP I GOT A LOT TO SAY. I like that there’s a dark underbelly (*snicker*) of trauma to this one, it has a slightly a Japanese feel which suits mature characters and an office setting. King’s yearning worried eyes are glorious. Poor thing, he totally adores this beautiful broken fragile boy and doesn’t know how to capture his attention. I admit Net was the one I worried about with this pair. James was always gonna be great. It turns out, I didn’t have to worry. This is an awesome show and I fucking love it. It nearly scooped the top spot. Frankly this is the Office BL I have been WAITING for Thailand to give us.

NOTE: I watched both YT’s cut and iQIYI’s uncut version. (Anyone else feel odd using those terms under a high heat BL context?) I like YT’s better, mostly iQIYI’s interface is shit. Deets? There was a little extra from the “morning after regrets flashbacks” but not so much I think you’ll regret missing it. Unless you REALLY prefer high heat. The emotion of the sexual connection and Uea’s lonely submissive need was transmitted in both versions, but the iQIYI is slightly more MOAR.

Never Let Me Go (Tues YT) ep 10 of 12 - Flashbacks to the cutest boyfriends ever and then PAIN. All I can think is “thank fuck this was handed to Pond & Phuwin.” One of the world’s saddest executions of the sniff test trope. Meanwhile, Perth is SO GOOD but I wish Chopper would record his conversations with his dad. Look, we all know Chopper is gonna take his dad’s bullet for Nuengdiao, right? Oh well, if you didn’t know, I just told you.

Moonlight Chicken (Weds YT) 3-4 of 8 - The plot... erm... thickens. I told you Jim had a tragic backstory with an ex. And now it’s all gotten VERY messy. Sigh. Fourth & Gemini are cute, tho.

Hit Bite Love (Sat YouTube) ep 4-5 of 6 - I do like King & Burger. The idea of giving your perspective boyfriend your CV is ADORBS. Auditioning for the part, as it were. I would like it known that my sexual identity is chili (AKA spicy) henceforth. (My pronouns are MaxTul & sometimes Phi.) Look, this is an absurd show. Last ep it was BDSM 101, this ep we got a lesson on how to use a condom properly? AND why the closet is both necessary and damaging? I mean I applaud their educational endeavors but BL: The After School Special? Did I sign up for Degrassi Junior BL while I wasn’t looking?

Boyband (Thurs YT) 1 of 10 - BL drama about putting an idol boyband together. AKA how to make ABL suffer by combing favorite (celebrity romances, Kpop) and least favorite (bad singing) tropes. AND? I REALLY like it. It’s fun! What singing there is, is looped not live. So we in Cutie Pie territory. It’s easy to skip. The pairing is rich/poor and I like an other side of the tracks romance.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

HIStory 5: Love in the Future (Taiwan Weds Viki) ep 8 of 10 (or 15&16 of 20) - Covid strikes. Boyfriends are worried. Omg they are so cute and hot and awkward. Tension in the office politics too. It’ll be okay, babies.

Jack o’Frost (Japan) ep 1 of 6 - After getting dumped, Ritsu has an accident and gets amnesia. Ikuya, his ex, struggles to help him regain his memories while wondering about the state of their relationship. But Ritsu falls in love with Ikuya all over again. Engaging opening but I’m just not sure about the premise.

It’s Airing But ...

Chains of Heart (Sat Gaga) 1 of 10 - Not dropping for me until tomorrow so it’ll be in next week’s round up I hope. Suspense thriller about a forest ranger, smugglers, amnesia, and lost love. Stars Haii (Cirrus in TT2) and Marc (My Gear & Your Gown in YYY). Adapted from a Y-novel of the same name by TJ Tommy.

My Beautiful Man 2 (Viki & Gaga) - Because there are only 4 eps, I decided to wait and binge this one.

Cafe In Love (Thai) 10 eps on Ch3+ - Thai pulp, stars the actor who played Noh’s best friend Ohm in Love Sick 2. When his coffee shop closes, a man tries everything to save it and falls in love along the way. I had a hunt but can’t find it.

Moments Of Love (Thai) Feb 14 Foremorfilm Production movie for cinema release. Was originally a series with Golf (609 Bedtime Story & The Eclipse) to direct, and SmartJames (LeonPhob from Don't Say No) to star. BUT is now something totally different. We’re all confused.

Destiny Seeker (Tues WeTV ) 10 eps - it’s not on any WeTV I can get ahold of. Engineering student Songkram is head of dorm 3, for "strong & athletic" students. Aye is head of dorm 2, for the "good looking" students. Aye used to be Songkram's tutor and friend, but they fell apart after becoming dorm heads. Aye is actually in love with Songkram but thinks Sonkram likes someone else. Songkram actually likes Aye. So, Bad Buddy the pulp rebirth meets that weird Japanese “girls-crossdressing-as-boys for love and infiltrating secret society of hotness” tradition.

Our Winter (Thai & Korea ?) - TutorYim vehicle supposedly airing now. Search me.

The End Of The World, With You AKA Bokura no Micro na Shuumatsu (Japan Sun Gaga) - DNFing this one. It’s way too high heat for them to end it happily and full of dark stuff like cheating, suicide, depression, abuse. I actively HATE one of the main characters and mildly dislike the other. Easier to just stop watching.

the moon is pretty tonight. can he see it from Florence? is the moon as bright as it is from where you are to him? you miss him, he... does he miss you as much as you miss him? wait did he even feel the same way as you do?

" I like you. " silence engulfed you two after your confession, is he angry? embarrassed? upset? maybe disappointed? you don't dare to raise your head to look at him. hearing his footsteps distance from you, he had walked away. the next thing you knew, he was back at Florence.

knights can't help but bugged you after hyping you up to confess. of course, no one expected things to go downhill instead. tsukasa being the knight he is, he vowed to get izumi back to Japan. what kind of Knight is izumi? to run away from not even a monster!! tsukasa internally screamed when he heard your side of the story. no one actually heard this story from izumi.

" he's back, " arashi calls you from your office. turning to face her, you can't help but flash her a weak smile. will he even look at you the way he always does? he's truly a snowflake. so gentle, too gentle, so fragile and pretty much different from anyone else. a one of a kind gem. can you really catch him from falling like snowflakes?

" oh my! is that the new photo of izumi? he really outdid himself this time. let's congratulate him for his hardwork, " arashi grabs your wrist to pull you along with her.

going into knights room, what do you see? the red knight, the wannabe black cat, the songwriter, and of course izumi. tsukasa was the first to greet you as ritsu quickly push arashi hand away from yours to pull you in a hug, mumbling something along the lines of wanting to sleep with you because of how warm you were. leo was quick to say hello too.

everyone stared at izumi, waiting for him to acknowledge your presence. with a sigh he finally says hello. you can't help but feel tears welling up to your eyes. before you could let your thoughts flood into you, izumi pats your head.

" I'm sorry. it took me a while to understand my feelings for you. I'm not saying I can't return them but! I don't hate you. your tolerable than most and if you're still up for it... we can date? " izumi says as he tries to hide his red face from the rest. he just admitted his feelings!

" love is in the air, " ritsu happily hums as leo feels a little light bulb dings.

🦋 ow ow, owie... the thought of a childish player entering the game, completely oblivious from the idols' obsessive tendencies makes me want to clutch my chest and fall down. im gonna use knights here because i thought of them first :D imagine one of the members DRAGGING you to their practice room, demading that you cannot leave until they say so... but all you're is concerned about is the sword (?) knights used for the little romance mv, swinging it around and laughing because hehe pretending to be a knight is so fun!!

ah. the valkp in me is wondering how shu and mika would react though AKSDBDKSK ESPECIALLY SHU... you're running around towards each and every outfit that enters your range of vision, maybe even touching some because mmm texture, exclaiming the little details you notice... and maybe even start doodling the most random outfit ideas!?

i pray for the protective yanderes though... they are never gonna get any rest as long as you are there!! theyre giving you a lecture about how you should be more cautious, but then the moment they blink, you're already giggling in a completely different room!! save them!!

ddnlskföojadiNA I love this!! It´s such a stark contrast from the personality we usually give the player. There´s so much charm to an oblivious reader when all of these crazy yanderes are swarming around them and trying to win their heart. So much potential for comedy in what would otherwise be a very grim and terrifying situation.

Honestly, I can´t really blame the reader though, I mean those swords really do look fun to wave around? Have you seen the regular spp for little romance that you get when you didn´t pick one of the cards that have a special one? It looks so cool and you can´t convince me otherwise. What am I supposed to do when I´m face-to-face with a really cool-looking sword, NOT use it?? Preposterous

And meanwhile, the Knights are just standing around you like.... what are you doing? Did what they just said completely go over your head or why are you acting so nonchalantly? They kind of kidnapped you a few minutes ago and yet you don´t care at all? They don´t know what to think nfsfn

Ritsu: “ You are mine. I will never let anyone else touch you ever again. No one will ever separate us”

Reader: “Whooo funny sword goes brrr!”

Leo would definitely join you in swinging around the sword though, resulting in everyone else panicking because giving him a sword is not a good idea, especially when he´s so excited simply by you being around. Well, they´re at least happy that you think their props are cool

fnjlfl Shu and Mika would probably get excited that you´re so interested in their outfits! Shu especially spent a lot of time and effort to make them absolutely perfect so hearing your praise makes him very proud. He will get a bit fussy though, telling you not to touch the outfits because you might damage them by accident. It´s not all that unreasonable of a concern seeing as you´re obviously very excited about this entire thing.

Meanwhile, Mika is staying to the side, trying to discreetly hide the little shrine he had dedicated to you and put it on full display, not anticipating that you would drop by so soon. He doesn´t think he´s worthy of your love yet so you can´t see what he´s done, it might ruin his chances with you! He doesn´t want you to know that he stalks you but honestly, you probably wouldn´t even notice that those are the things you´ve been looking for all this time after thinking that you might have lost them somewhere

it was the 3rd time of the day in which you told your boyfriend to ‘hold on.’

izumi wasn’t sure if he was annoyed because you wouldn’t slide your attention towards him after some awful lot of practice (not to mention tsukasa’s loud lecturing) or it was because he was worried about your eyes always glued to that goddamn device. maybe both? either of it, he was still pissed to the fact you’re rarely giving him any mind. at all.

after a new trending game came out, izumi began to see you use your phone more often than what you used to. eyes appealed to the app shown on the screen rather than looking at him. the izumi sena of knights. a gorgeous model, as well. he wasn’t bragging yet he probably was? he can’t comprehend the situation well, he had no idea what he was feeling !

he told this to his unit…and the answers were adding more to his annoyance. he never heard leo laugh so much in his life that tsukasa had to shush him down, ritsu was asleep on the floor like always and arashi was the only one that managed to answer, seriously. “it’s quite natural…! i’ve heard of the game but i haven’t got to try it yet since i’m a little busy these days with our schedule. but just calm down, one day they’ll give their attention back to you, it’s just a game after all,” arashi told him, fixing her hair while staring into her tiny mirror.

izumi scoffs, “oh please, it’s been almost weeks now and they rarely send me messages, communicate or go out with me because of that game that i have no idea of what they find it so fun and distracting..!” arashi laughed nervously while looking at the white haired male. he was really angry, everyone can tell. she didn’t really knew much about your relationship, all the girl knew was that you two liked each other very much and that your relationship with izumi was just ok! turning her chair to face him, arashi sighs—her palm carrying her face. “don’t pressure yourself too much because of this~”

leo cuts them off, “are you actually jealous of a game??? BWAHAHAHA…!” he says, hands on his stomach as he laughed endlessly on the floor of the training room. izumi sent the male a cold glare however leo didn’t even pay attention to the signal. tsukasa stands up, walking towards the laughing male before grabbing his arm calmly to help him up, “how did you even find that funny?”

“BECAUSE..! PFFT—HAHAHAHA..!”

“alright leo, take deep breaths now.”

“TSUKINAGA SHUT IT..! IT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY..!”

“n-now, now, izumi calm down…”

“ughh…you guys are so loud i’m trying to sleep..”

the situation ended up with arashi pulling izumi away from leo in order to avoid him from punching him in the face.

this…happened just a day ago, however it was soon calmed down when arashi explained to izumi to try and grab your attention by doing something that might distract you out of the game. somehow, the male quickly took the advice even though he tried plenty of times to win back your eyes on him. it might be tough, but just like the ‘big sister’ said; “it’s worth the shot~”

izumi had…quite the hard time driving back your attention to his. in fact, you were more distracted than he expected. answering with just hums, hm, yeah, or small words as a reply. this grew to irate him a little more—yet just like how arashi told him, just calm down. he can’t believe he’s taking advice from her. well, she was kind girl after all, and insightfully intelligent as well.

but…just this time, he sorta snapped.

it was his fifth time calling your name from the bed, you were sitting on the floor with your thumb across the screen, eyes locked towards the device to focus on your game. izumi’s eyebrows furrowed down. it has been like this forever, and he is attention deprived. the only source of sound was coming from your game, and nothing else. cord finally snapping, the male launches next to your side and grabbed your phone away in a fast motion. you reacted quick. “huh?! h-hey..! izumi! give that back…!” you yelled. izumi refused to let your grasp take a hold of your phone, and this caused you to stand up from the floor and try to reach for the device.

izumi clicks his tongue, “what’s even good about this game anyway???”

“i’m in the middle of playing…! give…! it…back..!” the both of you had a small fight with you trying to take the phone while izumi completely held the phone as highly away from you as he can.

you were so focused on trying to get back to your game that you didn’t realized that you were already sitting on top of him. with your hand reaching for the phone, you stopped when izumi pulls your chin down to look towards his face. that asshole was wearing a grin, his left hand still holding onto your phone while his right was still on your chin.

“you finally looked over here.”

realization finally hit to you when you felt your legs shake beneath another cloth that wasn’t your floor carpet nor the bed cushions. holy shit, you were sitting on his lap. the sight made you stunned, 50 shades of red covering your entire face before looking back at your boyfriend. that asshole was wearing his shit eating grin, and now with your burning red face looking right at him—that guy’s grin grew wider. “cute…heh, i guess naru’s advice worked after all.” you didn’t get to say anything else before you felt a pair of lips land on yours, lovingly.

the kiss was passionate, not too passionate. it was like your lover wanted to kiss you again after such a long time. well, you were distracted by the game after all you could guess why he was being so touchy today. your lips only separated when you needed air, then he was back to kissing you. the kiss lasted for about 1 minute, then you finally let go and he lands his face to your neck, taking measured breaths. you laughed so cherry he feels the butterflies about to erupt out of his stomach. “what made you so affectionate today?”

“you rarely give me attention anymore because of that stupid game you’re always playing…”

“are you jealous?”

“shut up.”

you both stayed like that for a while. maybe you should try convincing him to play it as well. as long as he’s not busy that is…

RITSU SAKUMA

ritsu had no idea how to deal with these sorts of situations…

including if they were something he had not experienced much before other than isara giving him some small advise about it. still, regardless of how much he tried to call your name, it’ll end up in a humming response. and if you did give 0.01% of your attention to ritsu, 99% of it will just turn back to the game you’re currently playing.

the knights member was confused between feeling irritated or upset. it was probably a mixture of both. however more of it, he was feeling down. you were his significant other…and as his lover, ritsu was entrusted to you that you would cuddle him whenever it was time for bed or nap times since…half of his daily life schedule is sleep, sleep, and sleep. you did ! on the last few months of being in a relationship with the male. although, you see…there was this new game you’ve been aching to try out ever since your friends had convinced you to play it and then here you are.

what the young ‘vampire’ was worrying about is that he couldn’t grab any of your attention towards him like you do before, it upsets him very. he tried asking the big sister of the knights, isara (thrice) and a couple other of his friends (except for rei, he pretended like he doesn’t know him). still, ritsu had no idea how to win your eyes back on him.

it was evening, ritsu (like always) stopped by at your place after a long day of idol duties. isara was the one who dropped him by and left afterwards after ritsu laid down on top of your bed beside you. you were playing on the phone like you always do, and ritsu pretended to be asleep, yet he was secretly admiring your face and how adorable you looked when concentrated. it was soon ruined when you paused your game, stood up, and went down to your bed to grab your charger and continue playing. ritsu soon sat up after you left his side, a frown painted upon his expression.

if only you could just take your eyes away from that screen for a moment…and he could just have your eyes on him alone…

“y/n…” he calls, voice in a whisper. no reply…ritsu pouts, hugging onto a pillow. he misses talking to you with long conversations. he missed playing the piano while you do the violin. gah, he was starting to sound desperate. but…this was normal right…? including if you’re wanting affection from your lover. arashi told him earlier that it was absolutely fine to confront you about this, as long as he’s calm about it and not end up in a heat up argument (since she’s not there to break it, arashi was close to you after all), but…your warmth…ritsu really misses your warmth. the way it made him fall asleep so easily with just your arms wrapped around him.

slowly crawling out of your bed…the male finds himself scooting his figure closer to yours while you didn’t even bother to turn around and look at him. he was tired, so tired…all needed after all hard day’s work was your arms wrapped around his body. just one glance from your view…it’s already enough.

you felt two pairs of arms wrap around your neck from behind…along with a blanket covering your back and warming yourself while playing. this finally had caught your attention. pausing the game, you turned your head a little to see ritsu snoozing off over your shoulders. you looked at him, stunned. “ritsu…? what’s up..?” you can hear him sigh in satisfaction. “y/n…mm, you finally looked at me…” he says, and you rose a brow up. was he still half asleep? “what do you mean by that?” you questioned.

there was a second silence before your boyfriend answered. yawning over your neck, he looks down on your phone, “that game has been stealing you from me recently…tell me, what’s so interesting about it…?”

ah, crap

“eh…?! h-has it been??”

ritsu nods his head. “i miss cuddling with you, you know?” he adds, nuzzling further deeper down your neck. “at least give me a good night kiss before i head down first to bed?” a light laugh erupts out of your lips before placing your phone down—it had been a particularly long time since you last slept together with the male after spending endless nights playing the new game you’re obsessed with. however, probably this day wouldn’t be so bad to take a small break for once. as you placed your phone somewhere safe to charge, you tapped ritsu’s shoulder, and he replies with a hum. “wanna head to bed, now? i wanna rest.”

his smile just made your day

you helped him get up and lay down on the soft cushions, his arms opened—waiting for you to come in. when you dug in his warmth, the heat radiating from his body mixed with your cooled down in a soft atmosphere. you did give him a good night kiss along with a whispered; ‘i love you.’ ritsu’s smile didn’t fade that night…your forehead stick to his while he snores, peacefully…his smile always glued on. you thought, maybe you fucked up…not giving your boyfriend any attention when you know he needs it. he can be attention and affection deprived from time to time and you can’t really blame him for it. for ritsu, he was like a child and you were his favorite teddy bear. not like you were complaining.

the next morning you both woke up at 11:36am. and ritsu was late for his idol duties. let’s just say you both got an earful from tsukasa.

Jack o' Frost Ep 5 Stray Thoughts

Last week, things finally started coming out. Fumiya made a complete ass out of himself for being jealous when he shouldn't. Ritsu also knows that their history is deeper than he's been led to believe. The acting is top-notch, even if I'm frustrated with our protagonist. Ritsu hates lies and manipulation, so I am ready.

Going to see the little brother is the right call.

He may have lost his memories, but he didn't lose his wits.

Ritsu must feel multiple levels of betrayal.

I love Ritsu. Just because he's heartbroken doesn't mean he can't look cute.

I like Keiko, the ex. Their current dynamic feels familiar, but slightly careful. You can feel that they know each other maybe too well, and if they don't stay in safe discussion it could turn rough. I like that he's trying to support Ritsu's current romance.

Ritsu feels different in these flashbacks and I really admire the performance.

Welcome back, Baby Is A Messy Eater, and thank you for giving the gays everything they want.

Wow, that was a three-minute take starting with the cake and into the beginning of the couch sex. These two are really talented actors, because they couldn't rely on cuts to give them more time to build up the emotions.

Damn. Fumiya really had this fight on Ritsu's birthday AFTER they fucked on the couch.

Oh my, the reversal of the breakup line hits so hard here.

This show had been really shaky for me, but I really loved this episode a lot. I'm actually eager for this finale. I was a bit nervous because I wasn't sure how they'd handle the manipulation, but this was very tasteful. Even if I disagree with choices, they all feel correct for the characters.

before we go on, quick heads-up: this is a heavier and wordier post; there’s going to be discussions about PTSD, its symptoms and Ritsu's response to them, and because i’m on PC i can cut off that section with a ‘Keep Reading’ bar? so i’ll do that and try to lay out the rest of the facts before that. also there's gonna be a bit of a format change here bc PC so afblakdhbf

a few people have shown interest in Ritsu and i was. so happy. im still new to tumblr imo and im so excited about all of this FBALDKHFBASFB so here he is. and with this it’ll be a huge look into what happened between him and his brother. also shoutout to my friend bc she is VERY MUCH part of the creative process. i’m not sure if she wants to be mentioned here but credit goes to her too! Ritsu! Popular, all-rounder kid in academics and sports who started burning out in university and dropped out to pursue music with a few of his friends. it worked out for them, and his life is relatively stable. kinda stable. a little stable. really depends on your definition of stable. here’s the facts:

he's a good 5'11, about 24 years old

he/they demiboy. doesn't really feel the need for a solid label for his sexuality

plays guitar. is the band's frontman. he has three other bandmates and Shou Suzuki is one of them.

suffers from PTSD and anxiety (more on it below the cut)

loves playing Just Dance (even though he sucks at it) and Guitar Hero (he's better at this one)

your average My Chemical Romance + vocaloid enjoyer, AND a closeted 1D fan

he's a quick thinker, but when they're anxious he can barely think at all

loves udon. loves tofu. give this man either or both when he's upset and it cheers them up quite a bit.

tells people he has a diary no one should read. not because it's his diary, but because he doodles a lot in it and finds it embarrassing. of course Shou finds out. of course Shou thinks it's adorable.

he went through a lot of friends in his later school life. had many, lost many, and struggled to make friends in university. Found some buddies in their second year, made a band, dropped out with them at the start of third year.

if you've decided not to keep reading until here thanks so much for getting to this point already!!!!! heavier stuff below the cut so read at your own risk. it's lore so if theres a need for it i'll post a summary on it.

So remember the ???% incident in childhood that led to Ritsu getting hurt and Mob being unable to remember what happened? That's where we're getting at. It was never resolved in their childhood or adolescent years. Ritsu tells Mob he doesn't remember either, and tried to sweep it under the rug. Worked for the most part.

his PTSD was delayed onset. his symptoms were there, but not enough to fit the diagnostic criteria. they got worse in university because he was experiencing heavy burnout with no one he felt like he could turn to. he'd moved out and was struggling to make friends.

he has nightmares which only increased in frequency, something he never gave much thought to because they figured it was a logical response to the event. didn't bother to question it either even when he had been experiencing them for months since he had other things to worry about. doesn't mean they didn't bother them and scare them though.

sometimes they just don't show up and don't reply to messages after shooting a quick text to his mates about feeling ill. his bandmates were getting concerned.

a little bit difficult to work with in the studio sometimes because he has difficulty concentrating and doesn't seem present.

terrible sleep quality, something he and his brother have in common.

often lacks motivation to do anything outside of his music job and things he feels like he's obligated to do, like hang out with his friends sometimes. never moves things out of place in his apartment, but his room is usually a mess because he struggles with cleaning up.

Ritsu had no fucking idea how to cope with any of this and made a decision to remove their perceived source of trauma from his life. He completely cut out Mob from his life for a few years. Blocked his number. Blocked his socials. Moved and never gave him a new address.

at first he felt as though he really did something to fix things for himself. after all he didn't need to bother checking up, visiting, hanging out with a person who had caused him all this trouble. he felt optimistic about it at first. waited for their own symptoms to get better. eventually no matter how he looked at it he hadn't fixed anything. he was still being stubborn for years after cutting his brother off.

had a breakdown in front of his bandmates and they started asking him to get help. he caved in and he did! now they're learning to live with their PTSD and their issues in a healthier way. but he's also starting to really miss his brother and feel like an asshole for lying to him about the incident and leaving him in the dark.

soooo that's all that's going to be revealed in this post. more on mob's side of the story and how they try to fix things next time? i've actually already written a oneshot on it but i'm not sure if i should share it. i'll go ahead and burn that bridge when i get to it afbdhsakfb but if you're still reading at this point thanks so much for reading until here 😭😭😭

NO YOURE SO RIGHT okay exposing myself here but i love yanmika so much i think about him daily . imagine him drawing the most grotesque eroguro costume concept art of his darling and showing it to them as he describes in . TERRIFYING detail how he plans to recreate his drawing in real life ............

Head in hands i think about yanmika almost daily, too... it's such a guilty pleasure, bc he's one of those characters that don't seem, on the surface, as a yandere, but when you dig deeper... he is Unstable♡ And it's just so interesting! Under the cut for length.

I don't see yandere as a romantic trope, I write this as horror!! I don't try to romanticise this, I try to scare and shock the reader using this!

And this time, specific warnings: exploring Mika's sadistic side and descriptions of gore (though I kept it light since this is more of a stream-of-consciousness rant and not my usual writing), violence and blood! I couldn't bring myself to write the ero part of eroguro, but he's still a bit insane ab blood and gore, especially in the last few lines, so keep that in mind. This one got a bit heavier than usual, so let me know if there's anything that needs a specific tag/warning that I've missed

So, first things first, Mika, as a character, is so full of contrast and paradoxes. It's no wonder he's associated with creepy/cute and gurokawa imo because. On the surface, you would only see the cute/kawa aspect... but the more you read of his stories, and his lines, and he reveals bits and pieces of himself, from the fascination with the mysterious, to his love for creepy things, to. To the collection of "scary images" he keeps to. "Sleep better". And the lines where he gets all violently jealous or even where he takes human life a little too lightly (like the time he thought he'd killed Ritsu - one of his best friends - and his only concern was that Shu would be angry at him) and it's like. He's a little fucked up♡

And this is why I also think Mika could have a masochistic as well as sadistic side. As a yandere, he strikes me as the obsessive worshippy type - and that plays into his masochistic side. He wants his darling, who's like a deity to him, to give him attention and affection even though he believes he doesn't really deserve it. He'd even be fine with his darling yelling at or hitting him, he just wants to interact with them.

But, on the other hand... there's his jealous and violent side that would play into his sadistic side. It's not that Mika wants to kill or hurt his darling, they're still like a deity to him, but~~ He'd fantasise about knifing them sometimes. Not in a way that would kill them, his imagination is very unrealistic, he'd sigh while thinking about digging through their guts while they hug him and thank him and admit Mika is their favourite-! And then he'd probably feel guilty because it's his darling and there's still a large part of him that doesn't want them hurt. But maybe it'd be nice to help them with a papercut or nosebleed once, just so he can at least see what their blood looks like. He might even be lucky enough to walk away with the tissue used to stop the bleeding♡ but he'd feel less guilty of the violent fantasies if he feels Extremely Jealous. He thinks of covering himself in his darling's blood - and them in his own - as a way to cope with the jealousy. For some reason, he thinks it's intimate. So when his darling sees him storm off somewhere if he catches them praising another idol, it's because he's off steaming and probably even drawing out all his fantasies of chopping their tongue and hands off so they can never speak to anyone again.

And speaking of his art! He starts testing the boundaries after some time, showing his darling progressively worse and worse things. It starts off with someone having a nosebleed or an outfit with a golden ribcage - his Dark Romance outfit (a digression but omg... the fact that it's called Dark Romance. Mika, do you have something you want to share with the class) - and a few months later, his smile is so bright and innocent for someone showing off art of someone's intestines spilling out (doesn't he resemble that idol they said they liked the other day?) or a design for quite the provocative outfit featuring motifs of dried blood and organs. And then he starts telling his darling how much he wants to design an outfit for them! Aw, won't'cha let yer Mika make you yer very own fit?

But he doesn't give them much say, he assures them he knows - he's a full-fledged designer himself by now! - what would look good on them and what would fit them. But from the start, his intentions seem wrong. Firstly, the bottoms are entirely too short. As a compromise, he lengthens them to drop until their knees, and then comments that it's "cuter that way, anyway" so they can't even be sure he was actually compromising. Then the top is tight and low-cut - and he compromises by making the collar a turtleneck, but who even knows if that's any better. And the design is very... grim. The top has a rather realistic design of a chest opened - blood-dripping ribs behind which a heart is situated. You'd expect Mika to design them cartoonishly, but he's rather practised at it, so, thanks to the tightness of the top, it ends up looking rather 3D. The intestines are well-presented, too, and... everything seems to be dripping in blood. The bottoms, thankfully, are only in a matching black colour to the base of the top, and their normalcy kind of eases the darling into accepting it, even though the chains still give it a very edgy look.

He's nibbling on his thumb as he watches his darling try it on so he can make final adjustments. He gets fidgety. When the fitting is over, he asks them if they like it. It's probably grown on them by then, or they just feel bad because of how much time and effort he spent on it, but they say they do. And then he gets soooo happy, so overjoyed! He's so glad, he wasn't sure if they would like it, but he's so glad they did. He even asks for permission to hug them before leaning in, embracing them, and... starting his little ramble. About how he wishes he could actually open them up instead of just imagining what their guts look like. About how he wishes he didn't have to settle for keeping the tissues they used to stop nosebleeds and instead they could exchange blood yknow like a normal couple. About how he wishes he could one day be worthy of all his darling's expressions to be shown to him. Love, joy, pain, he just wants to see it all! And he wants to be the only one to see it, and he wants to show his own to his darling. Don't think him selfish or mean! He won't leave his darling wanting, he wants to bleed and be opened up as much as he wants them to bleed and for him to open them up. He just thinks it's so romantic, doesn't his darling agree? Don't they want to give it a try? He has the sewing scissors on hand already. Just a little cut, he'll let them make a matching one on his skin, wherever his darling chooses! Don't mind how deeply he's breathing and how much he's blushing the more he tries to convince them.

what do you think would be some of the classes reaction to the whole harem thing? like obv theyre not gonna be mean, as long as nagi and everyone is happy, but also some people reaction would be funny i think

karma would love it, seeing the tiny nagisa he knew from first year now have more people that like him than he knows what to do with, karma would basically have infinite teaseing material at that point.

Or meahara, who probably goes up to nagisa all "how dude? just how? teach me your ways" and poor nagisa who didnt even notice anyone liked him that way for most of the schoolyear is just equally as confused.

.... Well, "mean" is a matter of perspective, isn't it? (❋•‿•❋)

Karma would have a field day with Nagisa having up to six girlfriends. (❋•‿•❋) He wouldn't sabotage Nagisa by any means, but you know there would be no end to the embarrassment Nagisa suffers... Akari would try to put her foot down for hubby's sake, but would clam up when Karma turns around and embarrasses her, too. Yukiko's politeness would probably be pushed to its limits cuz of Karma's tomfoolery. Fuwa would possibly make it worse with her manga references, if she happens to know any harem manga's... Yada would likely be more successful than Akari in confronting Karma, but... she's easy to get flustered, too.

Rinka and Rio, though? (❋•‿•❋) Well. Payback's a bitch. (❋•‿•❋)(❋•‿•❋)(❋•‿•❋)

Isogai, Meg, Chiba, and Hara would most likely attempt to be the most mature and accommodating to the.... bizarre dating arrangement. Manami would wanna be supportive, but romance really isn't her forte; and she can feel a bit meek when in the midst of her more vocal classmates. :3 Sugino would be down in the dumps for a while; Nagisa and Yukiko would try getting him hooked up with any baseball-loving girls to get him out of his funk. :3

Takebayashi might try to keep his head down and avoid all this drama. But might get roped in if Kimura, Mimura, Yoshida, Muramatsu, Hazama, Itona, Terasaka, and Maehara start any betting pools about how long this arrangement will last. ...... Or if the arrangement lasts longer than they expect, than side bets on different shenanigans popping up because of how much Nagisa has to juggle with these girls. Kurahashi would take the polygamous relationship as her green light to "share" Mister Karasuma with Professor Bitch. There's no stopping her now~ :3

Maehara and Okajima would probably be among the most annoying - Maehara because he would keep offering Nagisa dating advice, and eventually Nagisa's girlfriends would shut him down hard and fast. ... If not outright put a restraining order on him. (❋•‿•❋) And Okajima... Well, he'd keep trying to get gravure shots or other perverted "opportunities" from them and Nagisa, and he would meet a similar fate to Maehara.

Okano... uh.... (❋•‿•❋);;;;;;;;;; Nagisa might be in trouble for the first little while she realizes what kind of relationship he has with six of her friends.... If she "accidentally" knocked him out with a chair during the Valentine's Day chapters in the manga, Nagisa might be running for his life.... At least until the girls can calm Okano down. Somehow. (❋•‿•❋)

Ritsu would absolutely be Nagisa's wingwoman. She'd help the girls out, too, but Nagisa tends to doubt himself a lot, and he just doesn't "get" why so many girls like him~... Ritsu would help him be prepared for dates and making up with girlfriends if they're upset for whatever reason. ......... And fortunately or unfortunately (depending on who you ask) Ritsu might get Nagisa thinking about the.... lewd side of this relationship sooner rather than later. (❋•‿•❋);;;;;; Even without trying, Ritsu is very.... flirtatious. (❋•‿•❋);;;

Karasuma might be a concerned papa bird for a long time. He trusts these kids to look after themselves, but polygamy is very.... unorthodox, and it's very easy for one (or more) of them to get hurt and neglected. Might try to talk them down from this arrangement, but may eventually abide it if they keep at it and work with each other to be happy. Irina would be another wingwoman, coaching the harem on kissing and other intimate acts.... Of course, Nagisa can't afford some of the high class establishments that Irina coaches them about, so she begrudgingly has to lower the bar. (❋•‿•❋) Naturally, she insists they work up to spoiling each other rotten. But deep down, Irina IS looking after these kids in her own way.

........ And if Koro-sensei ever lived past his expiration date, God help Nagisa and his girlfriends. (❋•‿•❋) They think Karma's incorrigible? Well.......... (❋•‿•❋) Koro-sensei will be even more of a Papa Bird than Mister Karasuma. The happiness of seven of his kiddos is on the line, after all.

The End of the World With You Ep 7

Here we are at the penultimate episode. Are you excited? I’m excited. Somehow this show and Bed Friend are my favorite things currently airing.

Man Ritsu is really reflecting on his choices, huh? Have to say that I didn’t expect it, and I do sort of wonder how long he’s been doing so. Presence of the death pill makes me think longer than the world has been ending.

Ooh some Ritsu backstory! I wonder if it’ll make me feel more sympathy for him. I’m sure that’s the intention.

Oh my gosh. Why are parents so awful lately in these dramas? Like who tells their child that they can’t go to the best uni in Japan just because the legitimate kid didn’t get in? Good lord. Parents really do need to stop taking their own screw ups out on their kids. I don’t like Ritsu much, but it’s not actually his fault that his dad cheated on his wife with his mom. Like. Ugh. That little look towards his mom kinda hurt me a bit. No help there, buddy.

In a way I can see why Ritsu’s life mantra is what it is. Pretty much everyone in his life seems to live that way, after all. But

Ah, so Masumi was special. As special as I guess anyone can be to Ritsu. And ooh, nice to see him acknowledging finally exactly what he did to cause the breakup. I’m like a broken record, but there’s nothing wrong with being unable or unwilling to commit to one person so long as everyone is aware and understand / agrees with the situation. But Ritsu knew that Masumi was the one person type. He knew, and so he selfishly tried to have his cake and eat it. Now, Masumi made a lot of assumptions (never ever believe that a player has or will change for you. it’s a sure way to find yourself heartbroken) but Ritsu knew he was making them and let him keep on because he knew that if Masumi ever found out that he was still sleeping with whoever it would be the end.

And I definitely don’t blame their old friend for telling him to keep the hell away when Ritsu made noises about contacting Masumi again. It was a messy break up and a wound that never quite healed over for Masumi, I would say the same if I were his friend. Sometimes you don’t get do overs (unless, I guess, the world is going to end in a matter of days. That would kind of make a lot of things seem less important overall).

That said, I think it’s pretty obvious that Ritsu is depressed and has convinced himself that this is just one more reason he’s the devil incarnate or something. Like there’s something fundamentally broken inside of him.

I disagree with that line of thought. Oh boy do I.

I’m also wholly unsurprised that the first thing Ritsu does after being confronted with his worst failures is go straight for the death pill. Yeah he’s only got to live with himself for what? Two, three more days? but I can see how that might seem like forever when all you can think about is what a shit person you are and how you hurt everyone around you. Ritsu’s been flirting with that pill for a long time.

Ritsu in a nutshell: makes a selfish decision, regrets it, makes an even more selfish decision. My dude.

Masumi’s breakdown upon finding him trying to do the thing finally was really well done.

Turn a blind eye all you like Masumi but maybe get that other pill away from Ritsu just in case eh?

Aw, I’m really glad that Masumi told Ritsu he’s grateful for being dragged out of his inertia. Although my goodness The guy’s been beating himself up about it so much that even I feel a little for him, ha. I’m also grateful that the corpse disposal wasn’t needed after all. That might have put a damper on Masumi’s new ten day lease on life.

I bet the cold water feels really good on his hurt ankle, too.

Not entirely sure I am buying into the romance, I have to say, but this drama is so rich in other ways that I’m not even bothered. In a very big way it’s not even really about the romance, anyway.

I will be sad when it ends. And not just because I don’t really believe it’s going to end happily.

Damn, I love this drama.

4. what got you into enstars?

so basically there were like. 4 people here in tumblr (yes tia you were one of them) who i initially followed for other fandoms but that started posting enstars content and at first i was like 'oh okay looks nice but not my thing im definitely not getting into it' and well. there was more and more enstars content in my dash and i finally got curious and downloaded the game and i remember thinking back then omg what am i doing.... but i only wanted to see a bit and well. you can see im now deep down in the enstars hole with no way out of it

8. what is your favorite song?

I CANT CHOOSE JUST ONE THERE ARE SO MANY I LOVE uhghghghgh okay.... im gonna say little romance. its a very very cute song, knights song AND ritsu center !! it has everything for me and it holds a very special place in my heart.... AND ALSO play tag. i really like the song in itself but especially setsubun feelings aughhhh and have you read the lyrics?????? it makes me so emotional every. single. time. 2wink my boys 😭😭😭

12. what was your favorite event?

idk if this means the story of the event or just the experience of playing the event in general, but im gonna do the last one given the next question. mmmm probably twin peaks bc it was the first time i went for the 5* event card and i was really excited playing until i finally got hinatas card!! and same with the euthanasia event going for ritsus card bc i had wanted that card practically since i started playing and its one of my favorites from the whole game!!

21. do you have a favorite story?

i have quite a few stories that i really really like a lot. if i had to choose just one, itd probably be requiem bc so many knights feelings.... they said a lot of things to each other and it made me sososo emotional ouguggghhghg some other of my faves are setsubun, christmas live, horror night halloween, band ensemble, checkmate and beasts (you can clearly see how much i like 2wink knights and ritsumao lol) (also they are all from ! bc im trying to read those first tbh i havent read any !! stories yet apart from the main story and a few idol and scout stories aldksfk)

in which I dump a bunch of enstars thoughts because I just HAVE to

from the point of view of a filthy casual,here are my considerations:

Natsume is both the most cringefail little guy and the most badass person in the room, always

Mika. Is cute. And I'd die for him.

Leo. Is almost cuter. I'd die for him too.

I am STILL not sure if I want to be embraced and taken care of by Arashi or embrace HER and take care of her instead

There is just something about Nazuna that makes me think if he was real, humanity would peak with him.

Rinne has a similar vibe to Natsume in which he is both extremely pathetic and extremely badass all the time

If you don't like Hiiro you have bad taste. I respect it, but I have to make sure you know it and have to live with it

I really want to like Shu but he hits just close enough home to trigger memories i wish i didn't have. He is great, just. Don't expect me to be excited over him. I tried.

Aditionally:

Anzu and Mao look like the type to lose focus and have a consensual workplace relationship.

Same works for Anzu and Ibara! But in their case it would have extra steps in which Ibara is constantly thinking to himself about how much he is gaslighting gatekeeping girlbossing Anzu, meanwhile Anzu is just "man can't wait for our lunch date". Anzu knows what he is thinking, at all times, and can read him like a children's fairytale book and she just goes "uh-huh that's nice UuU". I like IbaAn better for comedy and MaoAn for actual romance tbh

Okay. Now that I’ve... mostly calmed down from the red fog of rage that just descended over me, let me try to give some actually coherent thoughts as to why this development is garbage.

You see this? This is these characters’ second ever conversation. They literally met once before at the convenience store, then they found each other in the street later by chance, and now they’re getting lunch together. And that first meeting at the convenience store was barely even a conversation. This show is trying to sell us on Arisu being overwhelmed by emotion for this guy after a fun little encounter and a single goddamn lunchtime chat.

And sure, we don’t know what the guy’s deal is. We don’t know why he’s so interested in Arisu; maybe there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for his side of the story. But we know Arisu. We know the kind of person she is. And the kind of person she is, is not someone who would just get swept away over feelings for some random guy just because he did something that reminded her of her best friend. This isn’t just lazy, contrived romantic writing in a show that’s usually so good at developing romance; this is a fucking insult to Arisu’s character. It ignores everything that makes her interesting, everything that makes her unique, and forces her into a crash course with some random guy just because the plot demanded it.

And as if that wasn’t enough of its own...

Look, fiction isn’t reality. The things we enjoy seeing in stories don’t necessarily reflect what we want the real world to look like. I have more than my fair share of problematic fantasies that I know would be absolutely reprehensible in a real-world context. So a story having an age-gap romance like this isn’t the end of the world, even if I personally can’t stand them most of the time.

But when that age-gap romance comes at the expense of a character who has no business being involved with this kind of situation? When it’s this obviously contrived and unearned from even a basic writing standpoint? When it takes a character I love this fucking much and throws her into the garbage for no good reason?

Yeah, I think I have the right to be fucking pissed off at that.

This sucks. This really, truly sucks. It’s not just problematic like Kagura or dated like Ritsu; it’s just fucking terrible in every conceivable way. And if this subplot ends up swallowing Arisu and ruining what made her special to me, I don’t even want to imagine how furious I’m going to be.
