fanfic writer asks: 7, 12, 15, 20?
7. What story/headcanons do you feel the proudest of? Lol definitely Chat Noir calling Viperion 'scales'. So simple, so great, such a dumb lil nickname that's just *chefs kiss* it's a damn shame the show hasn't made it canon yet.
Of course I need to mention Untitled Trash. It's just. So Much. It's a Lot and I've put my heart and soul into it. Also? Since it was mostly written before season four came out, there's actually a good amount of things I got 'right' some in an abstract way u kno.
But also s/o to untitled for giving lukanette more of a chance than canon did. my lukadrien fanfiction.
12. Who is your favorite author? Oh boy I am having to admit this again, but I have not read fanfiction in a Hot Second. Last time I did I read through like. Half of the Victorious fanfictions in early 2020 (I did indeed feel very called out by quintonreviews 8 hour video). If I'm writing I can't read others? It's just. How my brain works, which is weird bc in Every Other art form I play around in (drawing, painting, dancing, etc;) I do consume others to Inspire. but not writing? I too wish I could understand my own brain.
15. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?  Okay, contrary to my stats, Reprise is my favorite fanfiction I've ever written A Stupid Idea has a bizarrely large approval which I am not complaining about, I just didn't see it coming lol. OH What Are The Odds? (wato, my beloved) is also my favorite. It's got it all; it's my coping fic and there's smut, and there's dumb jokes. I love it.
20. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear? That they enjoyed my writing! I make fanfiction bc I enjoy it, so hearing that others also enjoy it is my favorite. Also just comments on the little things and details bc I put sO mUCH thought into all those small details.

Lukadrien: Your Hands Hold Home: Chapter Twenty-Three
@lukadrien-june
Read it on AO3: Your Hands Hold Home: Chapter Twenty-Three: Quiet Moments
Adrien was going to be the death of Luka. If he found the boy he loved lying on the floor one more time, he was going to have a heart attack.
Instead of panicking like he’d done the first time he’d found Adrien in such a position, Luka reasoned that maybe Adrien was just playing some game of pretend…. Though, Luka was hard pressed to say what had induced Adrien to lie on the cold, hard floor of his cabin, unmoving and in the dark.
He forced himself to take a deep breath and approach slowly.
“Adrien?” he called tentatively, his voice tense and higher in pitch than normal. “Are you okay?”
Adrien’s eyes fluttered open, and Luka breathed a heavy sigh of relief as he half-collapsed onto the floor.
“Thank God,” he chuckled giddily. “When I saw you lying there, I thought you were hurt. Are you okay?”
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to startle you. I’m fine,” Adrien assured, his tone a little distant, as if he were worlds away, lost in thought.
“I’m sorry for interrupting you, then,” Luka hummed, suddenly feeling tired as the spike of adrenaline ran its course. “Where were you? Imagining some delightful fantasy adventure?”
Adrien averted his eyes. “…I was pretending I was lying on the bottom of the ocean.”
Luka quirked an eyebrow at that. “Oh, yeah? What’s it like down there?”
“Quiet. Kind of peaceful besides the scuttling creatures crawling over me when I got in their way,” Adrien narrated.
A snort of laughter caught Luka off guard. “Ah, yes. The bottom feeders sifting through the sand and marine snow.”
“The crabs didn’t like me,” Adrien added huffily.
Luka reached out and tussled Adrien’s hair.
Adrien pressed into the touch needily, and Luka took that as an invitation to lightly massage Adrien’s scalp.
“Did you like it down there on the bottom of the ocean?” Luka inquired as he watched Adrien’s eyelids gradually drift close.
“A little,” Adrien replied dreamily. “I was out of everyone’s way, and I didn’t have to deal with any of my problems. Nothing could hurt me there. No one could hurt me…. I didn’t really want to come back here,” he confessed in a hush.
Luka’s hand slowed, and the indulgent smile drained from his face.
He did his best to keep his voice level as he asked, “Do you…Do you think you’d be better off on the bottom of the ocean?”
His tongue felt sluggish, and his mouth was as arid as it had ever been.
“I don’t know,” Adrien mumbled, pressing his head more insistently against Luka’s hand in protest at him stopping.
Luka gulped and resumed his ministrations. “…Adrien…do you…?”
He hesitated, afraid of putting ideas into Adrien’s head.
Adrien had a flair for the dramatic and was often a little hyperbolic when it came to his emotions. He sometimes resembled a character from a Romantic novel and didn’t always mean the things he said in the long run, even when he very much believed them in the short term.
So, Luka had a hard time determining whether Adrien seriously thought he’d be better off at the bottom of the ocean or whether Adrien was just indulging some depressing fantasy that would be forgotten in a few hours.
Adrien peeked his eyes open, peering curiously up at Luka. “Do I what?”
Luka swallowed. “Do you know that you have a lot of people who love you? I know it must be hard to trust anyone right now after your own family betrayed you, but you have to believe that there are people who love you. You have friends—a lot of friends—who would be devastated if anything happened to you.”
Adrien’s forehead creased, and he pushed himself up to sitting to gaze quizzically at Luka.
“You’re crying,” Adrien observed, reaching out and brushing away the tears with his thumb. “Luka, what’s wrong?”
Luka shook his head, confessing, “I’m scared of losing you.”
Adrien drew in a soft gasp.
“I’m terrified,” Luka laughed helplessly, shrugging and doing his best to smile through his distress. “You haven’t been yourself lately. You’ve been really depressed this past week, and I don’t know what to do to make it better. I’m powerless, and it scares me.”
“Luka, no,” Adrien cooed, scrambling to come up with some suitable response to soothe his beloved.
“I’m so sorry I scared you. I’m fine,” he insisted, pulling Luka close and stroking his hair.
“No, you’re not.” Luka called Adrien’s bluff even as he willingly sank into Adrien’s arms, consenting to be comforted. “You’re not fine. You’re not thinking people would be better off without you or anything like that, are you?”
“No,” Adrien stressed. “Luka, it’s nothing like that.”
“If you do start feeling that way, you’ll tell someone, won’t you? Please,” Luka begged, wrapping his arms around Adrien’s torso and holding him tight, ignoring the discomfort of their awkward, half-collapsed position.
“It doesn’t have to be me,” he quickly added. “Just, please, tell someone. Please ask for help if it gets that bad. I can’t lose you, Perfect Fifth.”
Adrien took a deep breath and gently tipped Luka’s chin up so that his eyes met Adrien’s.
“I promise you, I’m not going anywhere, Middle C,” he solemnly swore, “and if I ever do start feeling so bad that I start thinking people are better off without me, I’ll come straight to you so you can remind me how important and wonderful and special I am. Okay?”
Luka stared into Adrien’s eyes for a long stretch before finally allowing himself to be persuaded that his fears were unfounded.
“Okay,” he breathed, letting himself go almost limp in Adrien’s arms.
Adrien lightly petted his hair, cooing, “Shh. It’s all right. Please don’t cry. I’m never going to be able to forgive myself for making you cry.”
Luka quickly settled down and was just as quickly left exhausted due to the emotional toll the incident had taken on him.
“Come on,” Adrien directed, helping Luka to his feet and tugging him over to Adrien’s bed.
“Lie down,” Adrien instructed, and, when Luka had obeyed, Adrien curled up beside him, snuggling into Luka’s space.
Luka gladly rested his head on Adrien’s shoulder and breathed deeply of Adrien’s scent.
“Let’s pretend we’re mermaids,” Adrien suggested. “We have all kinds of crazy adventures. Sometimes we have picnics on the bottom of the ocean, and we lie in the sand and look up at the sun through the water and imagine what life on land is like. You are particularly interested in the kinds of musical instruments they have because you hoard that kind of thing. I’m more interested in their food.”
Luka chuckled, a tiny sapling of a smile sprouting on his lips.

Winter Wonder
Hello there! Here’s my gift for the Lukadrien Winter Gift Exchange!! Thank you so much @lukadrien-winter for organizing the event, I really liked writing this one! This is for Zane_is_not_on_fire on Instagram, I hope you like it! 💜
Summary: One would think that, at least for Christmas, there wouldn't be any major unexpected and possibly dangerous events occurring in the life of a random civilian such as Adrien Agreste. Wishful thinking of course. Does the blonde mind? Not in the slightest.
Also on the AO3
Adrien was starting to see a pattern.
Despite trying to live a normal life at the expense of his father’s passion at keeping him locked into that crystal cage he happened to call home, ever since the Stoneheart incident that had shaken all of Paris – the one that had welcomed the city’s new beloved superheroes, Ladybug and the amazing Viperion… no favorites of course –, Adrien had gotten involved into this brand-new supernatural affair way more than he would had expected.
These akumas, that was what they were called? Were apparently people overwhelmed by bad emotions; controlled by a sad excuse of a man under the villain identity of Hawkmoth. And apparently, a good chunk of these extremely upsetting feelings was owed to the same blonde model whose face was plastered all over the city.
Bubbler? That guy Nino he had met once during his one and only day in a normal school, that had tried to throw him a birthday party – yeah he was awesome like that. Volpina? That girl Lila did not like how he had seemed way more interested in superheroes instead of her. Copycat? A sculptor in love with Ladybug that had wanted to put him into troubles after getting into a little embarrassing argument, something about Viperion not being tall enough in the statue – yeah, bad like that.
It was a mess every time it happened. Routine broken, city in panic, getting kidnapped by a rush of wind in his room, those kinds of things. But there was still a little positive aspect about these troubles, something that even right now, while hanging on the top of Le Grand Paris luxury hotel all tied up like a damsel in distress, he couldn’t help but enjoy.
It was one of the few chances he had to go outside. No homeschooling, no loneliness, no awkward solitary meals. Just him, the chilling air of winter, the Christmas concert getting evacuated under his eyes, and this overwhelming feeling of freedom.
“Ladybug, Viperion, you’ve finally arrived!” And a villain, of course, he almost forgot about the villain. With his flamboyant white appearance and the frozen tears on his cheeks, he looked like a theatre kid ready to deliver his monologue. “I am Frozen King, here to bring you the eternal winter, so you will all feel as miserable as I do!” And just as dramatically as one would have expected, he raised his arms to the night sky. “My friends will talk to me again, my parents will stop arguing, and I will finally watch Kitty Section play with Adrien in it, just how I wanted it!” Ah, here he had hoped at this point he had nothing to do with this. Being famous was really frustrating sometimes… most of the time… pretty much all the time.
Ladybug and Viperion were standing right in front of them. If it hadn’t been for the tense situation and this ferocious wind that made sitting on a rooftop even more unsteady than it already was, Adrien would have appreciated how the snake superhero’s suit was brightening up, covered in sweet white snowflakes.
“Frozen King, let go of him this instant!” Ladybug said with her yoyo out, a glare on her face that screamed confidence. “We understand that you’re hurt, but this isn’t the way to solve anything! If you give up now, we won’t attack you! But you must stop!” A rushed wind blew in her face.
“Shut up! I don’t care! This is who I am now, and you will all feel like me!”
Ladybug blinked, frost on her eyelashes, turning towards her partner.
“Told you diplomacy wasn’t going to work. Diplomacy never works.”
“Give me a break LB, if I don’t know if they can be saved, I wasn’t gonna let them get pummeled to the ground.” Viperion shined a grin towards her, holding out his harp with a sharp look into his eyes. “I’m sorry my friend, but we can’t let you do this. I happen to know a certain captain that wouldn’t be very excited knowing the entire Seine has turned into ice.” His smile fell when his eyes lingered over Adrien, and the blonde felt his entire body shiver. The cold had nothing to do with it. “Also, I don’t and will never condone the kidnapping of a fellow musician. Especially a pianist as good as him.” Holy cow, he knew him and his music and Kitty Section and he knew HIM. “One last warning, your highness. Let. Him. Go.”
Huh. Weird. Viperion was notoriously bad at talking, that was why pep talks and speeches were usually Ladybug’s thing. Today he looked a little more focused. More than Adrien at least, between his hero, a villain, and the wind that was getting even stronger.
It was actually starting to push him. He quickly pointed his feet down.
Frozen King didn’t seem to notice.
“Stop telling me what to do, stop assuming you’re sorry for me! If you were, none of this would’ve happened!” He screamed, more tears fell and froze, and an absolute cyclone of ice manifested all around him. “I deserve something good in my life, I do!! And if no one will give it to me, I will take it myself!!” He jumped towards the two superheroes, agitating a long whip that looked suspiciously like a very long ticket.
The thought should had given the blonde some kind of clue as to how to defeat this guy. He could at least give these heroes half a hand. Then again, he was a little more worried about the fact that he couldn’t feel the roof underneath him anymore. Adrien gasped when he realized he was floating midair because of the tornado and tried to push himself down. But then the clash between titans was happening nearby, and the winds reacted to their leader’s distress. Like an earthquake in the air, Adrien felt himself being shaken and turned, until his body was pushed a little too close to the edge of the roof. With that saying, way over the edge.
He had fallen off a building before. A ridiculous number of times even, especially considering he was a secluded kid, that was just what Paris was like lately. But it wasn’t exactly something you get used to, so the scream came on its own. The cold air rushed as hard as ever. Adrien closed his eyes, dreading the impact. Fear prevailed; regrets took over. What of his father? What of the band? What of his friends? What of his life?
What of his Luka?
The wind stopped for half a second before returning, and Adrien landed on the soft snow underneath. He shily opened one eyes, looking around. There was a white road covered in snow to catch his fall, soft and cold. And there was one superhero wrapped around him, soft and warm.
… Wait.
“Are you okay, Adrien?” Viperion looked up at him, hair riled up, eyes still widened and lovely and- did he just jump from a building to catch him?!
Adrien gaped for half a second, having to remind himself how to speak words.
“Yes- No- I mean-! I-I’m fine.” The snake superhero smiled warm enough to melt the snow.
“Good.” He shamelessly wrapped his arms around him once again, melting him. “I would hate to lose such a bright and talented person.” The line felt joking, his tone was anything but. If Adrien had ignored how his own body was involuntarily shaking, he could’ve felt him trembling as well, hard, like he was catching his breath after one big scare.
Which had been falling. It had been falling, right?
Adrien swallowed before tentatively hugging back, feeling the fainted sigh of relief coming from him. This was surreal. It felt comfortable and warm and so, so surreal.
“You saved me.”
“It’s kind of my job, yes.”
“You just fell off a-”
“You did too, at least I have superpowers to protect me.”
“Is one of them making decisions in cold blood?” He really couldn’t help that one, and he felt oddly proud of himself when Viperion let out a laugh. Maybe because of the adrenaline, that line made some kind of sense.
“… Thank you.” The snake superhero nodded, backing away with his hands over his shoulders before finally going over the rope all around him. He got up after untying the knot, helping him stand up with a hard pull – that just added consistency to his fantasies about just how strong he was under the costume.
On the roof, Ladybug was taking care of Frozen King pretty smoothly. Viperion gave the scene a quick look, grinning.
“Good, she’s got this. We got the plan down before arriving, and now that we have time, I have to get you somewhere safe.” He extended a hand towards him. “Come here, let’s go.” Weird, Adrien’s daydreaming was a little too vivid today, to the point he could actually hear it. And see it. And touch it- holy everything it was actually real.
“… Huh?” Viperion laughed. Again, that wonderful sound.
“Frozen King is kind of obsessed with you, so we better go somewhere else for a little while. Don’t worry, when everything is over, I’ll make sure you get back home safe and sound.” Everything had sounded very appealing to Adrien until that very last part. Then again this guy didn’t have to know. “So, you ready?” Never mind this, never mind his heart screaming yes even before he managed to grab the hero’s hand.
“Of course.” It was rough yet warm, despite the scaley appearance. He didn’t have the time to marvel at the discovery that he was pulled forward, right onto the firm chest of the hero, who looked extremely satisfied by his decision.
Adrien felt just as accomplished right now. And hot. So hot, was it actually winter?
Viperion smirked at him.
“Here we go.” He shot him a wink and picked him up effortlessly, an arm under his knees and another behind his should- okay his daydreaming was getting very intense right now. “Hold on tight.” Oh well, who was he to contradict a real-life superhero and not pull his arms around his neck to get dragged to some mysterious unknown place. That was always going to be a better Christmas than the one that was not waiting for him at home.
Nobody, absolutely nobody.
Adrien bit down a grin, he held on perhaps a little tighter than needed – all for safety reasons of course, heh heh –, and nodded, welcoming that blossoming feeling of happiness inside of his chest with wide arms.
It probably should have not been this satisfying taking flight, hoping to stay away from his own house as much as possible. Yet even in the embrace of the chilling cold Adrien found himself impossibly relieved. His mind filled with light after a day spent hoping and glooming.
Viperion jumped right onto a nearby building, running over the rooftops effortlessly, and the blonde could barely take in the sights around him. Paris shone with infinite lights and colors. Snow covering the city with wonder. Being here, right here, away and free, was like a shiver and a tickle cold and warm, confusing and exciting and so very real.
It didn’t last for long. The next thing he knew they were falling in a perfectly controlled direction, landing onto the ground in front of a familiar looking bakery. Finally, the hero put him down. Finally, and sadly. Adrien had to held back a sigh of disappointment, that vanished when Viperion’s beautiful laugh shook him again.
Without even realizing the blonde grinned back.
“What?” The superhero covered his mouth, shaking his head, eyes on his head? “… Is it my hair? Right, it’s probably super messy.” He could almost hear the synchronized choir of despair from all the hairdressers from his photoshoots. He reached up to fix his hair.
“Oh don’t, you look good.” Viperion grinned, tilting his head as to give him a good glance. “It actually suits you; you look rebellious. You should try it more often.” All of the sudden Adrien had the impellent urge to take all of his goody two shoes appearance that got him so far into the fashion world and toss it forever under the sea. For no reason at all.
Adrien curled one of his locks around his finger, feeling his face warm. So very warm.
“I don’t usually jump over buildings with a superhero.”
“That can change.” This guy seemed to love to aliment his imagination, especially by implying that this wasn’t meant to be a one-time thing. That sneaky snake. “Alright, I know that the Dupain-Chengs won’t have a problem keeping you hidden until it’s safe. After everything is solved they can call someone for you, a friend maybe.” Oh. He was grateful that he didn’t mention his parents, but that felt like a line a little too calculated. Like he knew. Weird. “So, you can get home safe and sound as soon as possible. How about that?”
He blamed the cold, the chill in his bones and the freezing atmosphere that he was sure was waiting for him at home, but Adrien couldn’t pull up the usual perfect mask of a smile, sighing deeply, feeling that this, like everything else, was only temporarily.
“I’m not really in a hurry.” Despite that, he tried to force a grin. “I, um… we’re not that festive, so there’s not exactly a whole Christmas party waiting for me at home.”
Viperion froze. Sincerely taken back. That was an unusual look on him.
“I… I thought you weren’t at the concert because you were celebrating with your dad.”
“I mean, he did get me a present. A whole box, actually.” The blonde hesitated for a second, suddenly self-conscious about it. “Chinese books, a bunch of musical sheets, volumes filled with France’s history, oh and Tomoe Tsurugi’s ‘Art of the sword’,” He grimaced the ghost of a smile. “Which is pretty cool… it probably would have been better if it wasn’t filled with notes on how to improve my form, but still.” Alas, the need to cover his father’s actions was stronger than him at this point.
Viperion blinked, looking more and more upset. That was a bad look on him.
“What about the rest? Family dinner? Decorations? Christmas activities, you know that stuff. I can see you playing Christmas carols with the piano.” That did sound lovely, so Adrien simply shrugged with a little grimace on his face. That apparently didn’t sit right with him. “… Wait here.”
As fast as ever Viperion went inside the bakery, too quick for Adrien to break from his trance and follow him – maybe he needed to take fencing classes with superheroes, just to learn about that kind of speed and reflexes. It barely mattered since the superhero reappeared after only a minute, holding a little package with a bow on it and a cute little reindeer plush with a red nose and freckles. “It’s not exactly a full Christmas party, but at least it’s… sweet?” It was a box of gingerbread cookies, neatly positioned inside a Christmas themed package. “You deserve a bit of joy, you know.” His eyes were sincere, his actions too.
It took everything inside of Adrien not to tear up. He swallowed a sudden lump of emotions building up, taking the present, and smiling with everything he had.
“Thank you.” He whispered gratefully. Adrien peaked over at the window, noticing the owners of the bakery all giddy and excited, making him laugh. “You went in and out pretty quickly, I thought you were going to get stopped by your Fanclub or something.”
Viperion snickered, leading him near the building, out of sight from Frozen King.
“My Fanclub is nowhere near as big as Ladybug’s, nor as passionate.” Adrien begged to differ. Superfluous stating that the superhero was in presence of an honorary admirer of his.
After pausing for a moment, Viperion spoke up, “Did your father ask you to skip the concert?” Oh. That question was so sudden it left him speechless for a second. The blonde couldn’t help the sudden shiver as he nodded. “You know you should say no sometimes, right? You don’t have to agree with him every time just because he’s your father. You’re your own person.” That was such a standard line, he had heard it many times before. From Kagami, to Ivan, to Juleka – yeah, even Juleka found the voice to tell him, that said something about the truth of it –, to Rose, to…
Adrien smiled sadly, sighing.
“My friend Luka reminds me that all the time, more than anyone else.” Thinking about him right now filled him with the usual giddiness, mixed with guilt. “… He must really despise me right now.” Was that a gasp from the hero? Hard to tell, he was fantasizing a lot today.
“Why would you think that?”
“He didn’t respond to my messages at all after I flaked out on him.”
“I’m sure he was just busy, between all the people he had to entertain and the sudden akuma attack.” Adrien was sure his face told it all, and Viperion quickly smiled at him, hands raised. “It’s fine, all of the members of Kitty Section are perfectly safe and evacuated.” Adrien let out the longest sigh in his life. “I’m sure your friend didn’t call because of that. I bet he’s worried about you as much as you are about him.” That voice of his would have made him believe in anything.
Adrien let his eyes fall onto the box, thinking of his phone he left at home after getting kidnapped. Thinking of the charming guitarist he hadn’t been able to see tonight.
“I hope so. The last thing I want is for him to hate me.”
“Hey, he would never. Maybe he was angry, a little disappointed, but I’m sure he doesn’t hate you.” Viperion smiled at him, with so much endearment into his eyes it was hard to watch. “You’re impossible to hate.” There was really no bound on how magically unbelievable this moment was. “Besides, is it really that important what this guy thinks of you?”
“Absolutely.” Without missing a beat his words erupted, and Adrien felt warm all over again. Because he was saying this to the superhero he was so starstruck with. Because this night was already different from what he would have expected. Because everything was still so new about the world outside his mansion, but only one thing could make his heart race as it was now. “I really wanted to spend Christmas with Kitty Section… to spend it with him. Luka is special like that for me.” It came out more smoothly than he thought. His feelings were always confusing, talking barely helped. But it was Christmas and he was away from home and he didn’t want to think for once.
It felt surreal nonetheless. Like Viperion’s uncharacteristically shocked face, for the second time in that same night.
“… Really?” His voice lost all of his low tune, turning into the sweetest, most hopeful sound. Still as vibrant as the ocean. Bright as shimmering stars.
Adrien could only nod, charmed by him.
But distracted by someone else.
“I guess my heart knows better than me? I can’t lie to myself, I’m just a little slow at realizing what I want. And I think I finally got it.” He smiled, mindlessly tapping the box. “I like his rebellious look while also being the calmest and most controlled person I know. I like the way he sings for me whenever I’m feeling sad without me even asking for it. I like the absolute nonchalance when he asks me to skip fencing practice to come and play with the band… I like him, a lot.” He couldn’t feel the cold anymore. But he could, in fact, feel the superhero’s eyes absolutely glued on him. Making him realize the sudden reveal out of nowhere. “Ah, uhm, sorry.” He didn’t regret it. And for some reason that felt even right. “I-I don’t know why I told you all that.”
Viperion seemed to be having none of his uncertainty. He instead leaned towards him, eyes too intense to look at, and Adrien became increasingly aware of his pink lips cracked by the cold. He pushed away the thought, because it wasn’t right. He was enchanted by this superhero because of that, he was a superhero. That was it, the blonde’s heart belonged elsewhere. Yet…
“How long have you been feeling like this?” There was something different in his voice. Like he lost all the willpower to make it look mightier and superhero-like.
Adrien swallowed, eyes dropping on his red cold hands.
“Maybe… maybe ever since we first met? It was also the first time I’ve managed to ditch my schedule, because I really wanted to see the Music Festival. I stumbled onto his ship after I heard awesome music. I tripped, he helped me up, and all of the sudden I was in his band.” He giggled, feeling hotter and hotter. “He welcomed me like it was nothing… it wasn’t nothing to me. I’m sure I wasn’t completely gone back then, but it was a start. It just got stronger and stronger from there.” Viperion’s eyes were getting piercing. Oppressing even, to the point he felt scared to look up. “I… I’m sure you understand but just to be sure… can you keep the secret?” He snickered nervously, moving his fingers. It hurt, they were cold.
Viperion gently took the box from his hands, gingerly putting it down on the ground, before taking his hands together before Adrien could even think of an annoyed reply. Adrien couldn’t help shaking madly, a sudden feeling overwhelming the cold. Those eyes were getting absolutely impossible to ignore, but he couldn’t look up. He was irrationally scared, he couldn’t move.
Viperion was close, so close he heard the smile curving his lips.
“Cold?” The blonde barely managed a weak nod. “I can help you with that. Close your eyes.” A questioning noise was all that came out of him. “Don’t worry. Please, close your eyes for me.” His words turned into the sweetest request and Adrien found it absolutely impossible to deny it. He closed his eyes, swallowing, feeling the hold leaving him. “Sass, scales rest.” A sudden light drew a purple spot on his black sight. Magic? Superhero stuff? All he heard was the guy in front of him moving a little. All he felt was something incredibly warm and soft slipping into his hands, two gloves a little too big for him but wonderfully welcoming.
Viperion grabbed his hands again, rubbing them with his thumbs. The numb cold covering was melting down, a sign of relief grew onto the blonde’s lips. Only to stop midway when he felt a warm breath on them.
This moment, this entire night really was unreal. Adrien embraced the entirety of it, sinking further into this kiss in a dreamy sigh. Soft. Everything was so soft about this guy, like he had been made to sooth and welcome everyone that came in contact with him. It irritated him a little. Because he wanted this for himself, he wanted to be the only one to hold this harshly onto his hands, the only one to know how gentle and reckless he could be on a random Christmas night.
It was his first kiss, of course it was. And of course, after a time that was in any case way shorter than he would have liked, he was already out of breath. When they parted he perhaps sighed a little too strongly against the other’s mouth, cold air filling his lungs. The sudden chilling sensation awakened his senses, making him suddenly aware of the long fingers curled around his, the softest familiar laugh in front of him, and the faint yet absolutely evident scent of moss and kindness lingering under his nose. A little above where he had been kissed.
Another wave of warmth almost made him gasp, and Adrien beamed with his eyes still closed.
“You…?” Another peck shut him up, making him hum in delight.
“Merry Christmas, Adrien.” There was happiness into this voice, pure and breathtaking, followed by the quickest footsteps that soon got lost into the random noise of the night. And only then, when there was clearly no one waiting in front of him, the blonde opened his eyes.
He looked down. So caught up in the moment, he hadn’t realized that into his warm hands, wrapped up around very familiar looking black gloves, the box of cookies had been put back. Along with a neat paper, with a little yellow bow on the corner. A sheet. A song, with a title.
‘Sunshine’.
Adrien grinned, tears burning into his eyes. So much happiness it was too much. It was new, overwhelming. He wanted to know everything about it.
“Merry Christmas, Luka.”

What ships to you take requests for?
(To people who don't know the context, this is specifically for the Ultimate Ship Meme, due to the time and emotional investment required. I will generally answer most asks for just about all ships, although my responses may not be particularly favorable.)
This..... really depends. I have a lot of ships that I really love, so making a single comprehensive list of every single ship I'd be willing to do isn't really feasible. I suggest just asking about a specific ship, and I'll let you know. (And even if I'm not interested, I'll try to point you towards one of my moots who might.)
If I've posted/reblogged posts for them before, there's a good chance I'd be willing to at least try.
(Note that I'm a lot more willing to branch out and try a ship I'm not as familiar with if the request comes from one of my Beloved Mutuals™, as opposed to some random anon.)
Here are some ships that, offhand, I definitely will not be doing.
ATLA:
Zutara
Zukka
Jetara
Jetko
Tyzula
Mailee
LOK:
Korrasami
Wuko
Masami
Kyalin
Linzin
Fairy Tail:
Gratsu
Fraxus
Graylu
Stingue
Erzajane
Lolu
Laxlu
Nali
Bixanna
Grayon
Miraculous Ladybug:
Julerose
Marcaniel
Lukloe
Kagaminette
Lukadrien
Alyanette
Chlobrina
Chlodrien
Magi: Labyrinth of Magic:
Juhaku
Alikou
Sindar
Sinfar
Inuyasha:
Sesskag
Kogkag
Inukog
Narkik
I also will not do any ship that can already be found here-- that is, ships I've already done OR asked other people to do for me.
I'd also prefer (although I'm not adamantly against it) to avoid doing ships that we already see in canon. I'm not talking about ships like Nalu and Jerza, which are clearly endgame-- I'm talking about ships like Kataang or Pemzin, where we actually see them interacting as a couple. This is because a lot of the fun of these is figuring out how their dynamics would work in a romantic relationship-- plus, that if they're already together, we likely already know things like their first kiss or how many kids they have. (Not to mention that rarepairs can be a lot more fun to explore in fanon.)
And here are some ships I actually would like to do, if anyone's interested:
ATLA:
Songru
Yuaang
Sukaang
Fairy Tail:
Laxli
Dorendy
StingYu
Roguerva
Acnorene
Laxdy
Merelow
Miraculous Ladybug:
Lukagami
Magi: Labyrinth of Magic:
Alakou
Sharryamu
Inuyasha:
Sessrin (I haven't seen most of Yashahime, so I'll be ignoring it for now.)
(These are not the only fandoms I'm in, btw, and I'll welcome asks from any/all of my fandoms.)

Lukadrinette and Clemmy for the ship ask game !!!!
THANK YOU HEHE 💖
Lukadrinette ✅
Tumblr media
1. What made you ship it?
Honestly? Migration! Pretty late to the party, I know. As someone who loves unconditional and overpowering devotion (romantic or platonic) between two characters, I don’t have many poly ships in general, and Wishmaker left a bad taste in my mouth. I did not want my boy Luka to constantly be the Love Square’s third wheel.
In that sense, Migration did the exact opposite of Perfection and Protection, which crushed the remnants of my interest in Adrigaminette beyond repair. It started off on the wrong (but admittedly hilarious) foot with the therapy session, and yet somehow by the end I could see Luka taking great care of these two idiots and being cared for in return. As far as I’m concerned, all three of them are in a long distance relationship by the end of the episode.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
Lukadrien
Seriously though. I think @paracosmicat said it best when they called Luka the Love Square’s grounding force. They need his quiet strength and kindness to not explode the fucking moon.
Tumblr media
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Okay okay. Do not stab me.
… I think Lukadrinette could have been pretty toxic in S4, given the dynamics between the characters then, but that it is leagues healthier than Adrigaminette as of S5.
And yeah, I’m biased, obviously. It doesn’t change the fact that I am absolutely right.
NOW THAT I’VE BEEN CONTROVERSIAL ON MAIN. Let’s move on to my obscure ship, my beloved rarepair, the OTP amongst my OTPs.
CLEMMY ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Tumblr media
1. What made you ship it?
The actual origin story is that I joined a Layton roleplay group wayyy back then, and picked up where their former Clive had left off. Keep in mind, I was just about to turn 14, which means Azran Legacy wasn’t even out yet.
AND THEN IT WAS. AND IT MADE EVERYTHING A BILLION TIMES BETTER.
2. What are your favorite things about the ship?
I absolutely love the parallels and contrasts between Clive and Emmy. Both are twist antagonists, both are redeemable, both deeply care for Hershel despite having betrayed him. One is a manipulator, while the other has been used her entire life. Most importantly, one accepted the consequences of his actions, while the other ran away.
There’s just so much potential here, and the fandom has been sleeping on it for over a decade.
LIKE
Tumblr media
AS MUCH AS I COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LACK OF FELIGAMI AND SENTICOUSINS CONTENT, THERE ARE 10+ TIMES MORE WORKS FOR THEM THAN FOR CLEMMY. I WROTE TWO OF THESE. I AM DYING SQUIRTLE.
Get on it, people. I’m saying that in your own interest. The Clemmy agenda will prevail anyway — you want to be on the right side of history when it does.
3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Clive is bi, but doesn’t know it because he is also demi and as such did not have any crushes before meeting his future wife.
Emmy is pan. For some reason, non-lesbian Emmy seems to piss off fans beyond belief, even though there are no canon elements to hint either way. As a lesbian myself, I am perplexed.
Ask game here! 💙💛

day five of lukadrien february is writing. an excerpt from what are the odds? bc wato my beloved
((wato is my post-show breakup! au-- where adr*nette happens for a solid six years post defeat and begins at their downfall. here’s from the first chapter!))
Luka woke to the sound of knocking on his front door, waking him enough to notice his phone vibrating, screen illuminated, “Fucking hell--” he mumbled, pushing himself up, squinting at the screen that read Incoming Call: Kitty 💌🐾. Catching his attention, he sat up, pressing accept; the blond’s late night, often inebriated calls were beyond enjoyable to witness, “Hey--”
But unlike the times past, he wasn’t met with laughter or an enthusiastic echo, he heard knocking echoing through the speaker, “Can you let me in?”
“Oh-- that’s you?” he responded, sighing as he stood up, “Yeah, hang on--” he hung up, tossing his phone back on his bed before folding his arms, his hallway much colder than the comfort of his bed, the knocking albeit faint, grew louder as he approached, “Hey– what’s wrong?”
“Mari and I--” he mumbled, shaking his head, covering his face, “I’m sorry-- it’s just with Nino out of town, and Chloe doing her thing, I really didn’t know who else to go to, but I know you really don’t want to talk about problems we have--” Luka sighed, pulling him into a hug, closing the door behind him, hoping his knocking didn’t wake his nosy neighbors, who would definitely bring it up the next time they ran into each other, “I’m s-sorry-- this was a stupid idea, coming over like this--”
“Shhh--” he hushed, placing his hands on his shoulders in hopes to calm him. No, he didn’t want to talk about their relationship. It seemed like every single time he saw Marinette in the past six months she had something to say about Adrien, despite his constant request to discuss literally anything else. The only thing he wanted to hear at this point was they were over.
“Marinette broke up with me.”
Luka sighed, closing his eyes for a moment, hoping maybe this was a dream. If not, fate definitely had an odd sense of humor, leading Adrien to seek out comfort in him. “No, she didn’t-- you two are fantastic together. This is probably all a big misunderstanding--”
“No, I thought that the last four times-- but we’re over, Luka. She said so.”
Adrien had a flare for the dramatics. And while most of the time Luka was beyond entertained and honestly, quite enchanted by them, 3am and half-awake was not how he wanted to handle them, “You can talk it through with her in the morning--”
“It’s just, all we’ve been doing is fighting about the stupidest things for months-- she has this vision of me that’s just-- it’s not me, Luka-- she’s always had this grand, far off idea of what I am, and it really reminds me of my father and-- and-- I just told her that and she didn’t like it--” Luka couldn’t blame her on that, to be compared to Gabriel Agreste was the worst kind of insult that could be dealt. But in a way, he understood where Adrien was coming from. All he heard during their relationship was just how amazing the blond boy was, it was only time before her idealization of him had to face reality, and it was genuinely shocking it took nearly six years, “I just want to do what I want. I want to make my own life choices-- it’s my life, fuck--”
Luka nodded sleepily. He was used to it at this point. From both ends of the couple, technically Marinette’s friend, he definitely couldn’t deny his preference for the other, “Hey, let’s get you some water--” he suggested, turning towards the kitchen, noticing Plagg had joined a very sleepy Sass, floating nearby, “Sorry I don’t have much cheese, but you’re welcome to whatever--”
The fact that Plagg was relatively unbothered by Adrien’s emotional state showed that this was, unfortunately, normal for the kwami to deal with, “Always my favorite miraculous holder,” he smiled, disappearing into the fridge to investigate.
“How’d you get let up?” he asked, looking back to the blond, hoping to get his mind off Marinette for a few minutes.
“No one asks a lot of questions if you’re pretty and crying--” he mumbled, watching the cup fill before sighing, “All I wanted was to be happy-- she used to make me so happy, Luka, what happened?”
Definitely not wanting to get into it, he shrugged, offering him the cup as he leaned against the counter, “Time passes, people change, I guess.”
Adrien took a sip, shaking his head, “It’s not fair–”
Luka sighed, running his hand through his hair, “It is life, though,” the blond pouted, opening his mouth, “Drink the water, kitty. I know you’re upset, but getting worked up again isn’t going to help anyone,” nodding, he took another sip as they watched his kwami emerge before eating through the remaining bit of cheese, “Glad to see you’re doing okay.”
Plagg shrugged, sitting on the counter next to Sass, who looked as tired as Luka felt, “They’ve been fighting a lot– they’re going to make up in the morning–” Adrien sniffled, shaking his head at his claim, “Oh come on, kid– you two have been fighting like this long before you two were dating– it’s just a lovers spat–”
“No, it feels different–” he mumbled, focusing on the liquid in the glass. Luka didn’t want to get his hopes up in any way, but he did hate seeing Adrien so upset, “It’s too much again–”
Clicking his tongue, Luka stood up, not wanting to hear any of it, “I don’t want to make the couch for you, kitty, so come on, let’s go to bed--” he yawned, holding out his hand as though there was even a chance the other would take it. He got a grumbled response, making him smile as the other followed behind him, “You got somewhere to be tomorrow? Hopefully not too early–”
“No-- a meeting at noon, but I need to talk to Mari before then--”
“Yeah, yeah, of course--” he mumbled, turning off the hallway light, “But you’re going to sleep first.”

Lukadrien: Your Hands Hold Home: Chapter Twenty-Four
@lukadrien-june
Read it on AO3: Your Hands Hold Home: Chapter Twenty-Four: Late Night Conversations
“You don’t actually sleep, do you?”
Luka looked up from his clàrsach to find Adrien leaning in his doorframe, a pale triangle of skin at his hip exposed as his nightshirt rode up.
Luka’s eyes traced the long line of Adrien’s body from the raised arm pressed against the doorjamb down to the feet crossed at the ankles.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you asleep,” Adrien hummed, either unaware of Luka’s rapt attention or indifferent to it. “I’m always the one to fall asleep first, and you’re usually up before me, though, I don’t see how that is because I’m the one used to getting up before sunrise.”
A lopsided grin slowly spread from one corner of Luka’s mouth to the other. “I think you’re just catching up on years of sleep deprivation. I, on the other hand, suffer from some serious insomnia. I don’t sleep.”
“I’m sorry. Does that suck?” Adrien wondered, the teasing note gone from his voice.
Luka shrugged. “Sometimes. Mostly, it is what it is.”
Adrien nodded and continued to stand in the doorway, just gazing at Luka, without making an effort to continue the flow of conversation.
“…Did you have a nightmare?” Luka intuited.
That was usually the reason Adrien came to see him so late at night.
Adrien contemplated lying to give his presence there a veneer of legitimacy, but he ultimately decided for the truth in order to assuage his own guilt.
“No,” he replied with an unabashed smile. “I just wanted to see you.”
“Would you like to see me closer?” Luka chuckled, patting the bed beside him.
Adrien gladly took a seat, putting his hands behind him and shifting his weight back onto them. He kicked his feet back and forth, as if he hadn’t a care in the world.
“…Mind me asking what you’re doing up so late if you didn’t have a nightmare?” Luka inquired, resuming the calm, peaceful melody he’d been plucking on his harp when Adrien came in.
Adrien took a deep breath. “I’ve got a lot on my mind.”
Luka nodded. “Would that have something to do with why you’ve been so down the past week and a half?”
Adrien didn’t respond right away. “…I’ve been here about a month now.”
“Mmhm,” Luka confirmed.
Adrien swallowed. “I was thinking maybe I need to find my own place to live.”
Luka stopped playing. He even went so far as to set the clàrsach aside so that he could turn towards Adrien and show him that Luka was giving him his undivided attention.
“Is this something that you want to do or something that you feel like you should do?” Luka asked in a steady, level voice.
Adrien averted his gaze as heat built on his cheeks and the back of his neck. “…I think it would be good for me to get my own space.”
“I think that would be good eventually, maybe in a few years, maybe once you’re out of university,” Luka agreed. “As for right now…I don’t know if that would be a good idea. Please don’t be offended because I’m saying this because I care about you, but I don’t think you’re in good enough shape mentally to be completely on your own.”
Adrien winced but didn’t object to Luka’s evaluation of the situation.
“P5, you’re welcome to stay here with us as long as you like. You’re not imposing or anything like that,” Luka stressed. “We’re happy to have you…unless there’s something about living here that’s not working for you?”
“No. It’s not that,” Adrien quickly assured, meeting Luka’s eyes. “It’s…I don’t know how to explain it. …Hard.”
Being around Luka so much was hard. Adrien could feel himself shattering every time he remembered XY and Luka’s kiss, every time he remembered that his love was, once again, doomed to go unrequited.
It was hard being so close to Luka and yet never as close as he wanted to be.
Luka reached out and rested a hand on Adrien’s shoulder. “I can’t even imagine, but I’m sure it is. Just know that you’ll always have a home here. You’re no trouble at all. We want you here.”
He wet his lips and tentatively continued, “…But if you don’t want to live here anymore, you and I could look into getting an apartment together.”
Adrien winced reflexively, thinking that that would be even worse. He could just see himself indulging in domestic fantasies with Luka as his roommate.
Luka took the wince badly and grimaced as he retracted his hand. “Or…I mean…if you don’t want to live with me, maybe Nino or—”
“—No!” Adrien insisted, realizing what his reaction must have looked like to Luka and rushing to do damage control. “It’s not that. I don’t—I would love to be flatmates with you. I just…”
He bit his lip and took a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I was just thinking it might be good for me to be out on my own, but if you don’t think I’m ready for that… You’re sure I’m not a bother here?”
A tentative smile came back to Luka’s lips. “Not at all. I was serious when I said that we want you here and that you’re welcome to stay as long as you like.”
Adrien breathed out a long, weary sigh. “Okay. All right. I’ll just…I’ll stay here, then. Sorry—I mean thank you.”
He leaned in and wrapped his arms around Luka, squeezing tightly as he repeated, “Thank you.”
Luka returned the hug, assuring, “Any time, Angel.”
“…May I sleep in here tonight?” Adrien pressed his luck on a whim. “Just because?”
“Sure,” Luka agreed, patting Adrien on the back.
“…Xavier-Yves probably wouldn’t like it, though,” Adrien muttered, pulling back and wrapping his arms around himself.
Luka scoffed. “No. He gets terribly jealous. He complains about wanting to have sleepovers like you and I do.”
“I’m jealous too,” Adrien confessed.
Luka arched an eyebrow, but before he could ask, Adrien spoke again.
“You’re sitting on my side of the bed. Get up,” he decreed imperiously.
Luka snorted and ruffled Adrien’s hair as he obeyed. “Is that your side of the bed officially now?”
“Yeah,” Adrien replied haughtily, trying to play off as a joke something that held much significance to him. “I’ve decided I like your bed. Do you have a problem with that?”
Luka shook his head, deciding to hell with it. “I like you in my bed.”
He leaned in and pressed a kiss to Adrien’s temple, leaving the recipient of his affections utterly stunned.
“I’m going to get changed. Back in a minute,” Luka remarked without a shred of remorse for what he had done as he turned to head to the bathroom.
He left Adrien staring after him in a daze and returned to find his beloved hiding under the covers.
“I’m sorry,” Luka whispered as he settled in beside Adrien. “I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“You didn’t,” Adrien fibbed. “I mean, I don’t mind you flirting with me. I was just…a little surprised. I don’t mind it, though,” he reiterated.
“Okay. Good,” Luka sighed in relief. “Sorry. I was just worried I took it a little far.”
“It’s okay.” As if to prove his point, Adrien snuggled in close, burying his face in Luka’s chest.
It took a long time for them to fall asleep like that, both of their heads full of spinning thoughts.
Luka drifted off first, and Adrien found that seeing Luka’s cute, relaxed sleeping face did nothing to help him feel any better about his impossible situation.

Lukadrien: Your Hands Hold Home: Chapter Twenty-Eight
@lukadrien-june
Read it on AO3: Your Hands Hold Home: Chapter Twenty-Eight: Reunion
“Phew!” XY heaved a thunderous sigh of relief as he sank down onto the couch where Adrien had already collapsed. “I thought they’d never leave.”
Luka rolled his eyes, taking a seat on the makeshift coffee table facing his boys.
Adrien and Xavier-Yves had banded together to throw Luka a small surprise birthday party with a dozen of Luka’s closest friends, and the festivities had stretched well into the night, leaving everyone tired and the Liberty in need of more of a cleanup than usual.
“Thank you, guys. That was a blast, and I really appreciate you organizing it,” Luka stressed, giving XY’s foot a gentle tap with his own and then reaching out to lightly touch Adrien’s knee.
Adrien grinned through his fatigue. “We’re just glad you had a good time.”
Xavier-Yves nodded in agreement. “It’s worth it, so long as you’re happy.”
Luka’s heart warmed at this proof of how important he was to his friends.
“Thank you, Prune, P5,” he repeated. “Seriously.”
“Sure thing,” XY responded with a wink before turning to Adrien and giving his shoulder a nudge. “Hey. Let’s get started on cleanup so we can both get our beauty sleep.”
Adrien groaned, sinking further into the couch. “Ugh. The one downside to parties. Let’s get it over with, I guess.”
“It can wait until tomorrow,” Luka assured. “Don’t worry about it. Xavier-Yves, you should head home and get some rest. You’ve seriously done more than enough.”
XY cocked an eyebrow at this. “Why do I feel like you’re trying to get rid of me so you two can go have sex without me?”
Adrien broke out into a cackle fit of laughter, but Luka only scowled.
“Prune, no one is having sex on this boat,” he informed sternly.
“I think you and I are the only ones not having sex on this boat,” Adrien giggled, clearly entering the slap happy phase of exhaustion.
Luka buried his face in his hands, groaning loudly. “No one is having sex on this boat.”
“He’s in denial,” Adrien snickered conspiratorially to Xavier-Yves.
“No duh,” XY snorted. “Why aren’t you having sex with your boyfriend on his birthday, G Flat?”
Adrien clicked his tongue and gave XY a playful shove. “Why do you have to be so crass, Zay?”
“He’s not my boyfriend,” Luka told Xavier-Yves for perhaps the hundredth time in the past two months.
“Still?!” XY demanded, sounding genuinely offended. “Geeeez. Majorly un-dope, guys. Seriously. Just kiss already!”
“It doesn’t work like that,” Luka sighed, scrubbing at his face roughly.
XY caught one of Luka’s hands and gave it a supportive squeeze. “Don’t worry, Six Strings. I’ll have sex with you whenever you want,” he offered in earnest.
Adrien clapped a hand over his mouth to keep another giggle fit at bay.
Luka’s expression, by contrast, was unamused. “Prune, thank you for your kind offer, but please go home before I throttle you.”
“I mean, if you’re sure.” Xavier-Yves shrugged, leaning in for a quick smooch. “You know where to find me, if you change your mind.”
“Get out,” Luka commanded. “And text me when you get home safe, so I don’t have to waste my time worrying myself sick about you.”
“Will do,” XY affirmed, leaning in to give Adrien’s cheekbone a kiss. “Be good, G Flat.”
Adrien rolled his eyes, shaking his head fondly. “Be good, Zay.”
XY clicked his tongue as he got up to go. “I’m always good.”
“I’m sure,” Adrien chuckled just as Luka snorted, “Debatable.”
Once Xavier-Yves’s footsteps had faded into the soundtrack of the city and the gentle waves of the Seine, Luka turned to Adrien in concern.
“His comments like that don’t make you uncomfortable, do they?”
Adrien laughed, shaking his head. “No. If he were anyone else, they probably would, but Zay is Zay, so it’s just funny.”
Luka exhaled slowly in relief. “Okay. Good. I don’t…I just don’t want things to be awkward.”
Adrien nodded. “Don’t worry. It’s not. I promise.”
He gave Luka a reassuring smile, but then something shifted in his eyes, and he looked away.
Luka’s brow wrinkled as he caught the almost imperceptible change. “…What are you thinking?” he inquired curiously.
Adrien shook his head and kept his gaze averted so that Luka wouldn’t see his expression and guess. “It’s nothing.”
Luka’s frown deepened. “Uh-oh. Now I know it’s got to be bad. You usually tell me, even when you’re thinking about something unusual.”
Adrien winced, realizing he was caught. He looked up at his beloved guiltily. “I don’t want to ruin your birthday.”
“Since it’s past midnight, my birthday is technically over,” Luka reasoned. “And now you have to tell me; otherwise, I won’t be able to sleep what with this impending doom hanging over me.”
With a heavy sigh, Adrien gave in. “Oh, all right. I guess you have a point. So…you know how about a month ago I started responding to the letters my father’s been sending me?”
Luka nodded and then moved over to the couch to curl up beside Adrien. “Yeah? Everything okay?”
Adrien rubbed his lips together nervously. “He’s been asking me to come and see him.”
Luka’s eyes widened infinitesimally.
“And I decided that I’m going to,” Adrien resolutely informed, steeling himself for pushback.
Luka noted that Adrien wasn’t looking for Luka’s opinion or approval. Adrien had made a decision, and now he was telling Luka about it.
A part of Luka was extremely proud of how far Adrien had come. Another part was extremely worried.
“…You don’t like the idea,” Adrien observed.
Luka winced. “No, not really. I mean…he’s… He’s not someone…”
He took a deep breath and tried again to articulate his concerns. “I’m not sure what expectations you have, but I’m afraid he’s just going to disappoint you and hurt you again.”
Adrien looked down into his lap at his hands and began to wring them. “Yeah. I’m kind of afraid of that too,” he admitted, “but…I also kind of need the closure? I’ve got questions that only he has the answers to, so…”
Luka nodded, wrapping an arm around Adrien’s shoulders. “I can understand that.”
“And, I mean, maybe he’ll surprise me. From his letters, it sounds like he’s thinking about things and maybe regretting how some of it went down.” Adrien attempted to further justify his decision. “You never know.”
Luka gave Adrien’s arm a comforting squeeze. “Adrien, if you want your father in your life, that’s for you to decide—no one else—and I support you.”
Adrien blinked several times in succession. “You do?”
“I will always support you,” Luka stressed. “I’m here for you.”
With a soft smile, Adrien leaned in and rested his head on Luka’s shoulder. “Thank you, Middle C.”
“Any time,” Luka assured. “Do you know when you want to go? Do you need me to go with you?”
Luka could feel Adrien wincing.
“Don’t feel hurt…but I kind of already talked to Marinette and Nino about this, and they’re going to go with me.”
Adrien lifted his head to meet Luka’s eyes. “I’m sorry I didn’t come to you first. I just needed someone I’m not so infatuated with to bounce ideas off of. You have too much influence over me because I care too much about what you think, and this really needed to be something I decided myself. Doctor Katsuragi said so too.”
Luka’s expression softened, and he blew out a breath, his hurt feelings going with it. “It’s okay. I get it. I’m proud that you’re thinking for yourself like this. I’m just kind of hurt that you’re only ‘infatuated’ with me. Am I just a phase to you, Perfect Fifth?”
An impish grin spread over Luka’s lips, and Adrien rolled his eyes, smacking Luka’s arm. “You know I’m crazy about you. Stop fishing for compliments.”
“Can’t you just pace like a normal person?” Juleka grumbled as she poked her head into Luka’s cabin. “That incessant plucking is giving me a migraine.”
Luka frowned up at his sister. “It’s a hammered dulcimer. There is no plucking.”
Juleka rolled her eyes, flipping her hair back over her shoulder to emphasize her exasperation as she sighed loudly.
She opened her mouth to sass her brother, but something in the main cabin caught her eye. “Hey, Adrien. How’d it go?”
Luka nearly knocked over the hammered dulcimer and his sister in his haste to get to Adrien who was in the act of slumping on the couch.
“Are you okay?” Luka demanded, taking in the pallor of Adrien’s cheeks.
Adrien brightened up a little and laughed as Luka hurried to his side and set about inspecting him for damage.
“Orpheus, I’m fine. Just exhausted,” Adrien assured, submitting to Luka’s mothering. “Mentally and emotionally exhausted.”
“Let me get you some water. Are you hungry?” Luka fussed, starting to stand.
“I’ll go get the water,” Juleka intervened. “You keep fretting over your boyfriend.”
Luka didn’t bother correcting her. Instead, he focused all of his energy on Adrien.
“Just the water is fine. Thank you, Juleka,” Adrien replied over the back of the couch at his future sister-in-law. He then looked back at his intended. “Luka, I’m fine. Seriously.”
“How did it go?” Luka hesitantly pressed, handing the glass of water from Juleka to Adrien.
Juleka politely slipped out of the room, giving them some space.
Adrien took a deep breath. “Pretty well? I think.”
Luka gaped at Adrien in amazement. “Yeah? He was…not awful?”
Adrien grimaced. “I mean…it was obvious he was trying not to be.”
“But he didn’t say anything cruel?”
Adrien shook his head. “No. He was actually on his best behavior. It was kind of surreal.”
Luka nodded. “Well, that’s good. I’m glad.”
“Yeah. Yeah, it was good,” Adrien agreed, sipping at the glass of water. “I was surprised. I thought he was going to try to manipulate me or make me feel bad for abandoning Maman or…I don’t know. Something.”
Luka shifted in closer, putting an arm around Adrien’s shoulders.
“It wasn’t like that, though,” Adrien continued in a soft, reflective voice. “We just kind of talked. He told me about prison. He’s reading a lot. He hates the food. He misses Nathalie. …He said he missed me.”
Luka bit the inside of his cheek, holding in the question, “Do you think he was telling the truth?”
“I told him about living here,” Adrien narrated. “He seemed concerned about your mother’s influence on me.”
Luka burst out laughing. “But of course.”
“I told him you guys were actually really good for me,” Adrien snickered. “I don’t think he believed it, but he kind of seemed grateful that you’d taken me in and were making sure I ate.”
Adrien scrunched up his nose. “It was weird. He’s never expressed much concern about my general wellbeing before, but…it felt genuine.”
Luka nodded. “That’s…good. I’m glad this was a neutral-to-positive experience?”
“Yeah,” Adrien confirmed. “I…”
His eyes dropped to the floorboards.
“I hope you don’t mind, but…I told him I’m going to marry you if I’m ever able to convince you,” Adrien confessed, a faint, cherry blossom-pink blush dusting his cheeks.
Luka’s entire being flushed until he resembled a sunburnt crab.
“O-Oh?” he choked. “And…what did your father have to say about that?”
Adrien smirked. “Nothing at first. He pulled all kinds of faces, and his complexion turned rainbow colours. There were a few false starts where he could only find parts of words, but he eventually got there. He asked if you were worthy of me.”
Adrien looked up with a coy smile. “I told him I was more worried about me being worthy of you.”
Luka rolled his eyes, leaning in to nuzzle Adrien’s hair. “You and your self-esteem issues.”
Adrien turned his head to nuzzle back. “He wants to meet you. You don’t have to,” he was quick to add. “Only if you feel comfortable. Only if you want to. Please don’t do it for me or anything like that because I only want you to go if it’s something you want to do. I told him I’d ask once I convinced you to be my boyfriend to buy us a little time so you can think about it.”
Luka chuckled. “You didn’t tell him that I’d be your boyfriend the second you were ready?”
Adrien shook his head. “I didn’t want to explain how messed up I feel to him, so I’m letting him think that I have to win you still or something.”
Luka hummed thoughtfully. “If you keep going and he keeps behaving, I’ll meet him.”
Adrien pulled back to gape at Luka. “You don’t have to. You don’t even have to make that decision right away.”
Luka winked conspiratorially. “I think I need to properly meet my future father-in-law at least once.”
With a pleased blush, Adrien looked away, leaning back into Luka and resting his head on Luka’s shoulder. “Thank you.”
“Absolutely,” Luka whispered, giving Adrien’s hair another affectionate nuzzle.
