Honestly, I find it really cruel how Wangxian purposefully conceal important information about JGY from LXC.

LXC encouraged LWJ to discover the truth about WWX when everyone was ridiculing and gossiping about him. 

LWJ got to visit the Burial Mounds and discover the truth of what WWX was doing. He learned that WWX was simply trying to assist the Wen reminiants that assisted him and discovered the lies behind the rumors claiming WWX to have undertaken immoral behavior. 

If he had accepted the general consensus regarding WWX as a traitorous demonic cultivator who aimed to destroy society, then I doubt LWJ would have been able to love him without feeling guilty for doing so. LWJ is a very rightous man! He wouldn't have supported or even been able to love WWX burden-free had he believed WWX was acting immorally. I think LWJ knowing the truth behind WWX's actions is significant because it allows him to defend WWX - even if it was too late.

LXC is the reason that LWJ could accept his love for WWX and later support him when he returned in MXY's body. When he struggled to understand if WWX's actions were acceptable, his brother was the first person who supported him!

So why can't LWJ extend that same kindness to LXC? I think Wangxian deciding to hide information because it might change LXC's mind is truly an act of betrayal because In doing so they too have betrayed his trust. He expected WWX + LWJ to present a full case of evidence regarding JGY so he could decide whether to condemned his sworn brother or to stand besides him and… they don't actually give an option.

It reads as very selfish. Just because the main characters decide someone is irredeemable and evil, does not mean everyone has to share their opinions. When people opposed WWX, LWJ was given all the information he needed and was allowed to stand with him, even if it was after his death! But Wangxian take the place of the mob that called for WWX's death in the case of Xiyao by obscuring part of the truth to manipulate LXC's perception of JGY. 

LXC never truly had a choice. He was tricked by JGY, by his brother then by NHS. There is no one who actually given him the full truth and it is such an injustice.

Random TGCF AU of the day

I had a tgcf themed dream last night, the details of most of which are vague aside from a few things:

It was an mdzs/tgcf xover set in that au where SWD leaves SQX in PM's care and disappears, only this time with an additional rule: SQX is not allowed to return to the Shi estate without him. This strikes a lot of people as strange, including Pei Ming, but he also knows some of the reasoning behind it (or so he thinks) and secretly amends it to SQX is allowed to return if accompanied by PM.

Meanwhile, the Lan, Jin & Jiang sects are guardians of three out of four holy pillars that protect the world (or something like that). The 4th pillar? It should be under the Nie sect's care, but in reality it's guardian is none other than SQX for reasons unknown to everyone (this is of great concern to the other sects). Something something the Shi estate also contains something related to this duty and SWD's disappearance and rule is believed to be related (by the sects. PM meanwhile knows nothing about this and believes it's family related because SWD has a terrible relationship with the rest of his family)

The one scene I remember from my dream is Lan Xichen meeting with Pei Ming trying to find out more about SWD's disappearance and why SQX can't go home with PM insisting it's a private family matter and refusing to divulge, while also being completely confused about all of this guardian duty stuff.

Anyway, my takeaway from this dream is AU where SWD swaps SQX's fate with NHS's :)

My favourite part of MDZS is how cool Wei Wuxian is.

Like, we don’t talk enough about how cool he is. He performs Empathy three times. His ability to use a flute is so powerful, the song doesn’t even have to sound good for it to work. He brought a dead guy back to life (kinda sorta).

But especially, I love how Wei Wuxian treats ghosts and corpses! Wei Wuxian just hangs out with corpses, for FUN!! He scares away low-level corpses just by existing! He hears the voices of the dead to the point that he can’t enter a place too full of resentment without getting a headache from the constant chatter.

I also really like the Extra where Wei Wuxian is just like “Well, the ghost will go away when he’s done screaming. I’m not worried about it.” And he just leaves a screaming ghost at some guy’s house so the ghost can move on peacefully (as peacefully as is possible when one moves on by screaming).

I love all of this so much because Wei Wuxian is constantly saying that people have too high of expectations of him. Xue Yang telling him to put Xiao Xingchen’s soul back together is just one example of this. Someone will tell Wei Wuxian to do something and he’ll be like “How powerful do you think I am?!” And it’s like… Wei Wuxian, you spent six hours hanging onto a cursed sword in the Xuanwu’s mouth, you survived three months in the Burial Mounds and then returned to make it into a semi-livable place, you killed at least a thousand people that one time, and you came back from the dead, just to name a few.

Wei Wuxian is so strong. He’s so cool. He is terrifying. He is unstoppable and unflappable if only because he gets over his embarrassment in about fifteen seconds! He just rolls with it! He rolls with anything that happens! He remains Shocked and Apalled by Lan Zhan’s behaviour for all of five minutes before basically going “lol okay”! He told Lan Zhan that he wanted to sleep with him in front of Lan Xichen, Jin Ling, a handful of Jin disciples, and the literal bad guy of the novel!!!

(I’ll never get over that scene. It is so funny.

WWX: “I need to say something, it can’t wait.”

JGY: “Then just say it right now as you are.” (Referring to the fact that Wei Wuxian has a wire wrapped around his throat that can kill him in seconds)

WWX: “Good point! Lan Zhan, we should’ve fucked.”

This scene is so fucking funny, I will absolutely never get over it)

I love powerful protagonists and honestly, Wei Wuxian is at the top of the list when it comes to overpowered protagonists. The only thing that phases him is dogs, and even then, he himself admits that he can get used to their presence as long as they aren’t barking.

TLDR: Wei Wuxian is so powerful and I totally get why Lan Zhan fell for him.

He does die in that moment, but if the requester wants an angsty MCD fic, this ain't it / has Wei Ying die of strangulation but a fragment of his soul returns to that moment and he lives again.
