Watching Master and Commander (2003) for the first time, I realized a few things:
Max Pirkis as Blakeney is just the cutest, hands down
Gorgeous gorgeous music (and finally realized where one classical piece I remember from my childhood came from)
My love for Lee Ingleby has extended to this film as well (such a far cry from Ever After or Harry Potter!!)
Hollom deserved so many hugs poor bby
This is excellent visuals for trying to envision how ships are run, for my writing reference folder
I never knew I needed Billy Boyd viciously wielding a cutlass, but now I do
I really really want to see the USS Constitution again—that was a phenomenal experience that this movie dragged out of my childhood memories
Russell Crowe with long blonde hair unnerved me at first, but I’ve come to appreciate it (esp loose like in the deception scenes 😏)
I should not have watched this before bed bc now I’m stuffed up from crying and I’ve been googling the Napoleonic War and Age of Sail/Discovery blogs for the past 20-30 minutes. I am… unwell
I might (re)watch Horatio Hornblower again but I’m not sure I’m emotionally up to it yet

The Serpent Queen: Henri [ISFP 9w8]
MBTI TYPE: ISFP Henri is a very emotional but internal person, who is easily offended and “shown up” by Catherine on their wedding night when she takes the initiative. He feels nothing for her, so he doesn’t visit her bed or produce any children after that, instead preferring to spend his time with his mistress, Diane. Henri often appears with her in public, rather than his wife, and doesn’t…

I’m able to watch Our Zoo through my mom’s Hoopla account! And of course, one episode in and I’m already hooked! Chester Zoo is one of the greatest zoos on the planet and I’m so blessed to have visited it. The show is so wholesome. Much like All Creatures Great And Small which is what I need. Perhaps I’ve discovered a new fandom…or something to crossover into one of my already established fanfiction worlds.
As for writing, I managed to get a few more paragraphs done for Chapter 154 of Addie’s story yesterday. I thought about posting what I have for a content preview (thanks to a recent post on here shared by @elise-51-blog) but decided not to. I hadn’t touched her latest chapter since August so it felt good to finally get back into her saga even if it is still a mess. My current ideas for Jules’ saga are a mess too. Hence why I need a potential escape into the founding of Chester Zoo and Lee Ingleby.
I hope you’re doing well! :)

The Lost King    [trailer]
An amateur historian defies the stodgy academic establishment in her efforts to find King Richard III's remains, which were lost for over 500 years.
What a fascinating story. The movie tells it in a at times a bit of a pedestrian way. But Sally Hawkins makes the watch worthwhile.
The sexism and mansplaining Philippa has to endure is easy to imagine. But from what I've read, towards the end, the script takes a bit too much creative license to create some bad guys for the movie. Which seems rather unnecessary.

This Saturday, it’s time for another MGAS watchalong!
It’s a 2012 episode of Inspector George Gently, “The Lost Child”, in which Mark plays a 60s suburban dad whose baby is missing. Co-stars Lee Ingleby, who we’ve seen with Mark in Crooked House and The Wind in the Willows.
June 11, 2 PM Central US / 8 PM UK. Message for connection info if needed.
