Anyone from the HoM crew ever been ‘shloomped’ into the Nomicon? Whether on accident or them purposely opening the book out of curiosity?
(aaaaaaaa ive been agonizing about this ask because) sadly due to Plot Reasons for this au no one had/will have a chance to (so far)! but its such a good idea goddarn (getting schloomped into nomicon is up there with all of them visiting ghost zone!) i might just try to somehow fit that in the main plot xD
you are so freaking big-brained its an amazing idea so i had to sorta doodle it???
Thinking about how if season two of EAW has a plot point that shows Youngwoo exploring other kinds of physical intimacy, that there's going to be more of those people saying she shouldn't be able to engage in any physical affection because she's autistic (not true at all) and that means her having a partner is unrealistic. Like even before their romance started, there was already people saying it won't work out because "they can't do things like normal couples"
Which is hilarious considering that it would literally not be any of their business even if they didn't ever do "things other couples do". Plenty of couples don't do those things, for any amount of reasons, and strangers are entitled to know exactly none of them.
It also sounds so heteronormative to me. You think if both people share the same desires, they won't do their best to accomodate each other and make each other feel safe and comfortable and loved, even if their intimacy doesn't fit societal standards? Like it is so obvious that they only view physical affection as an act and performance instead of a shared experience between lovers that should obviously involve communication and respecting of each other's boundaries.
Plenty of dramas have characters clumsily sharing first kisses and nervously hand holding and eventually sharing a first night together once they're ready (usually once they're engaged and mostly only eluded to) and we're supposed to find their nerves and clumsiness and slow pace, cute and endearing and proof of their pure love and gentleness for each other.
But Youngwoo is never afforded this same grace. If she can't hold hands long enough, or is otherwise uncomfortable or not ready for something, Junho should just let her go because "they'll never be like a normal couple"...
Youngwoo is yet another example of fans not liking a FL when she won't be their perfect self insert. They refuse to root for her love because they find her annoying and ungrateful because if it was THEM they would jump at the chance to do everything at once.
In Youngwoo's case it's like they're saying "Why does she (autistic) get to date him and yet I (normal) cannot?" Like...sorry he's fictional and betrothed..? And canonically would hate you?
“I am learning to understand rather than immediately judge or to be judged. I cannot blindly follow the crowd and accept their approach. I will not allow myself to indulge in the usual manipulating game of role creation. Fortunately for me, my self-knowledge has transcended that and I have come to understand that life is best to be lived and not to be conceptualized. I am happy because I am growing daily and I am honestly not knowing where the limit lies. To be certain, every day there can be a revelation or a new discovery. I treasure the memory of the past misfortunes. It has added more to my bank of fortitude.”
