ITV gets Extraordinary
In a deal just announced, ITV is getting the UK broadcast rights for two Disney+ shows — Under the Banner of Heaven and Extraordinary. I thought I’d mentioned the latter before, turns out I misremembered. Extraordinary is a comedy sci-fi show I’ve started but not engaged with enough to get through. That’s no reflection on the quality of the show, just my ability to distracted at the drop of a…

Effie Lee Morris stands as a towering figure in the realm of children's literature and library services, leaving an indelible mark through her visionary leadership and tireless advocacy. Born into an era marked by racial segregation and systemic barriers, Morris defied the odds, rising to become a beacon of change and progress. Her journey began as a public librarian in Cleveland and later in the Bronx, where she cultivated a deep appreciation for the transformative power of literature and education.
In 1971, Effie Lee Morris shattered barriers as the first African-American president of the Public Library Association, a milestone that underscored her commitment to equity and inclusion in library spaces. Her groundbreaking work extended beyond administrative roles; Morris played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of children's literature by spearheading the establishment of the Coretta Scott King Award. By crafting the original selection criteria in 1970, she laid the foundation for recognizing and celebrating African-American authors and illustrators, ensuring their voices resonated prominently in the literary world.
Morris's impact reverberated within the walls of the San Francisco Public Library (SFPL), where she assumed the role of the first coordinator of children's services. During her tenure, she revolutionized children's literature by establishing a research collection of out-of-print books, meticulously documenting the evolving portrayals of ethnic and culturally diverse groups. This collection, later renamed the Effie Lee Morris Historical and Research Collection in her honor, served as a testament to her unwavering dedication to preserving diverse narratives and fostering cultural understanding.
Beyond her professional achievements, Morris's advocacy extended into the realm of social justice and community engagement. She founded the San Francisco chapter of the Women's National Book Association and actively participated in the American Library Association's Social Responsibilities Round Table, championing causes aimed at combating racism, inequality, and poverty. Her contributions were met with widespread recognition, as evidenced by numerous accolades, including the Silver Spur Award and the Grolier Foundation Award, affirming her status as a trailblazer in the literary landscape.
Effie Lee Morris's legacy transcends generations, inspiring future leaders and storytellers to uphold the values of diversity, inclusion, and equity in children's literature and library services. Her visionary spirit lives on in the countless lives touched by her work, serving as a timeless reminder of the transformative power of literature in bridging cultures, fostering empathy, and igniting change.

Loki s2 Ep 5 Review
this will be short but SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
ok so this is basically the umbrella academy season 2 in one episode except nobody remembers shit (loki = five ?)
O.B IS SO PRECIOUS HELLO
casey being a fawking criminal on the time line is not what i was expecting, but what especially caught me off guard is that he is based on a real person 😭😭 helppp
b-15...just b-15 🥹
ofc mobius' son would want a snake, i can smell future scene of loki conjuring him one or something. also love how the other boy seems to be mischivious?? they are adorableee
btw yall i wouldn't really bother worrying if mobius is donald blake cuz let's not forget that in the sacred time line he was a scientist who used to date jane. thor merely used it as an alias, mobius is NOT thor alright
not loki getting nervous then checking if he looks good before approaching mobius 😭 my dude
was that a...confession? hmm
o.b is actually impressive
yess go off sylvie, call him out ! 💀
sylvie's arms 😵‍💫 good day to be a lesbian
what's up with the tension between o.b and casey..? this series is full of homosexuals /j
here we go with the parallels again, loki talking about why he wants the tva back (his friends/mobius) is highkey giving me deja vu about how mobius was dodging loki's questions about why he wouldn't leave the tva (i'm delusional)
not casey catching strays 😭 leave him alone damn
oh we are all getting infinity war flashbacks right.
ok this may be biased but why does it feel like loki is the current "main character" of the mcu? he's like the tony stark of phase 4-5. like, that power moment ???
and again, the soundtrack ‼️ we freakin love you natalie holt 🫶

So I knew Mobius and OB had names that had to do with infinity. Then B-15 and X-5 and D-90 are all just random. But Casey? Where did that come from?
What if... he was just named Casey because he handles Case files?? Like at some point, someone just gave him a nickname but it was just shortened from "That guy who files cases" to "Case guy" to "Casey?"

Actors I’d love to see in Six (part one…?)
Tumblr media
Alice Lee as Katherine Howard or Anne Boleyn
Where you know her: Heather Duke in the off-Broadway production of Heathers
Tumblr media
Wonu Ogunfowora as Anna of Cleves or Catherine Parr
Where you know her: Cairo in We Are The Tigers
Tumblr media
Jackera Davis as Jane Seymour or Anne Boleyn
Where you know her: u/s Lydia in Beetlejuice national tour
Tumblr media
Emily Kristen Morris as Jane Seymour or Catherine of Aragon
Where you know her: s/b Elphaba in Wicked national tour
Tumblr media
Grace Romanello as Katherine Howard or Catherine Parr (honestly she’d make a great swing)
Where you know her: u/s Gretchen and Karen in Mean Girls National Tour
Tumblr media
This is my never gonna happen one, but this is all hypothetical anyways so 🤷🏻‍♀️
Renee Rapp as Catherine of Aragon or Jane Seymour (realistically she’d probably get casted as Howard or Parr but idc)
Where you know her: Regina George in Mean Girls Broadway, HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, her music career
Honestly if I could make a cast out of these six it’d be: Renee Aragon, Jackera Boleyn, Emily Seymour, Wonu Cleves (by default since she’s the only one I’d even consider for cleves), Alice Howard, Grace Parr
