Look, I love Edelgard as much as the next simp, but I want more of Byleth who does not forgive Edelgard.
I wanna read about Byleth who is fire-spittingly furious that Edelgard, someone they thought they could trust, is working with the people who murdered their father. In Golden Deer, Claude has to hold them back. In Blue Lions they're just as furious with Dimitri.
I want a Byleth who wants Edelgard dead. A Byleth who is new to emotion and has no idea how to process their grief and rage, and it all boils over like a frothing volcano.
As the player we know Edelgard is also a victim of TWSITD, but for the most part Byleth doesn't.
And even better if they still care about Edelgard! Imagine the drama, the pain, the fucked up dynamics! Byleth still cares deeply about Edelgard, even while they can never forgive and even hate her. A Byleth who wants to kill Edelgard, even as it tears them apart inside to do so.

Fódlan Flufflets #25: Popular (Felix/Bernadetta)
A parting gift before my two-week retreat -- the return of Fódlan Flufflets!
In honor of the #ChooseYourLegends results, have some #Felibern -- my very first, in fact! Please enjoy this latest slice of my patented Fódlan anachronism. ---
Felix had endured countless humiliations in the maelstrom of agony that was his life. Losing spars to classmates and veteran knights alike. Falling for Glenn’s mischievous pranks, guised as “coming of age” rituals. Enduring the second-hand embarrassment that was Sylvain’s skirt-chasing.
All soul-crushing in their own ways, but experience ingrained a budding humility that’d bloomed into his adulthood years, and he’d learned to brush off such embarrassments like the pitiful swings of a fresh Fraldarius troop.
This, however, was the final straw. Not even a day into their vacation at Derdriu, and they were greeted with the culture shock that was the city periodical’s headline:
““SHIPPING WARS” RUN RAMPANT -- “FELIBERN” OUTPACES THE LIKES OF “DIMILETH”, “SYLVGRID”, “FERDITHEA” and “LEORENZ” IN NEW POLL DECIDING FÓDLAN’S CUTEST COUPLE!”
And that was how, after being chased by hordes of screeching fangirls, Felix and his wife found themselves holed up in Derdriu’s fanciest inn. The screams of adoring fans and invasive paparazzi buzzed incessantly outside their window like a sea of hungry gnats, swarming the Aquatic Capital and descending upon their refuge -- their cheers and demands invasive as they were utterly confounding.
“FE-LI-BERN! FE-LI-BERN!! FEEL THE BERN!!!”
“WE KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE! COME OUT AND SMOOCH FOR US!”
“CAN YOU COMMENT ON THE RUMORS SURROUNDING LADY BERNADETTA’S PREGNANCY?”
Cornered, exhausted, and utterly defeated, Felix’s face rested firmly in his palms – not merely because of the egregious invasion of privacy, or the impossible likelihood of escape, but because of one unfathomable variable he’d never have predicted.
“Ehehehehe,” giggled his wife. “Oh my gosh, Felix! Look! They drew us as little kitties! And we’re snuggling!”
No, it was because after all the screaming and hiding ceased once all the facts were laid bare, Felix came to the horrifying realization that Bernadetta actually liked it.
“Bernie’s never won at anything,” marveled Bernie, “but Cutest Couple in Fódlan? Hehe! It’s funny because it’s true! Bernie prevails!”
“Please stop,” moaned Felix.
“But look at all the competition!” said Bernadetta as she thumped her chest. “We beat out Ashette, Mercedue, Cysithea, and, and-”
“Yes, I read the article.”
“Ehehehe, do you know what this means? We have fans!” said Bernadetta with a squeal. She unlocked the window and waved outside. “Yes, hello! Bernie sees you!”
Wincing at the deafening roar, Felix yanked her back inside and slammed the window shut. “Don’t encourage them. And since when were you such a social butterfly?”
“Oh, don’t be such a spoilsport, Felix!” said Bernadetta with a pout – shaking her arms in that familiar display of protest. “C’mon, didn’t you see the artwork? They’ve got some serious talent!”
Shoving the paper into his face, Felix was met once more with the paper’s meticulously detailed header image: the two Fraldariuses, engaged in a wistful liplock amidst glowing fireflies in a moonlit forest; a menagerie of doe-eyed woodland critters surrounding their tryst with palpable adoration.
Felix composed himself with a deep sigh. “Last I checked,” he said with an elaborate exhale, “our marriage wasn’t out for display. I don’t know how this whole nonsense started, but once we get back, I’ll appeal directly to Dimitri for an immediate ban on this so-called ‘shipping’.”
“Oh, come on – it’s all in good fun! Here, check these out,” said Bernadetta as she flashed a collection of paper-thin tomes, their covers decorated with amorous embraces and lovelorn looks courtesy of Fódlan’s top couple.
Felix nearly hurled. “What are--wait, where’d you even get those-”
“Oh, some fans shoved them into my hands while you were swinging your sword at those journalists – I think they’re called ‘zines’? Let’s see: there’s “Arrows and Swords” – it’s full of little stories about us! – and this one’s called “Violet Dreams and Azure Courage” – chock-full of pictures; see, I’m a mermaid! -- and this is…um, I’m not sure what the “18+” stands for, but it’s called “Steamy Fraldarius Nights” and--oh my-”
Ripping that last one out of his wife’s hands, Felix threw the offending zine to the floor and smote it with a Thunder spell. “Look, we came here for a retreat,” said Felix, incredulous at reminding Bernadetta – Bernadetta! -- of the values of privacy. “How do you expect us to relax if we’re constantly entertaining the delusions of these obsessed goons?”
Bernadetta pouted as she crossed her arms. “Well, you can say what you like, but they’re not leaving!”
“Then I’ll make them,” said Felix as he marched to the window and swung it wide open. “People of Deirdru, may you promise to leave us alone once I give you what your pathetic hearts desire!”
“WE HEAR YOU LOUD AND CLEAR, LORD FRALDARIUS!”
“Felix?” said Bernadetta as her husband pulled her to the window, “what are you-”
Immediately swinging Bernadetta to his front, Felix elaborately dipped his wife out the window and gave the entirety of Derdriu front-row seats to a passionate kiss.
The city shook with a rumbling roar – the raw power of nerd fandom rippling the very air itself, enduring even as they pulled apart.
Bernadetta flushed crimson, reduced to lovestruck babble. “N-no fair.”
Felix grinned roguishly. “Just promise me you won’t wound Lorenz’s pride by rubbing our victory in his face, and I won’t embarrass you further.”

Petra, talking about her homeland :
In Brigid, we have legends. Stories containing people who have a spirit living inside of them.
Those spirit people have much strength. They are maybe able to fly in the air or race across the ocean.
Hair that shines and eyes that glow... They have qualities that are not unlike what you are looking like, Professor.
Petra, when you face her if you didn't recruit her :

Neat. I guess Edelgard summons Rayquaza in Pokemon AU. She would try to beef at Arceus. Yeah, I miss Pokemon Conquest, which is a Pokemon version Nobunaga's Ambition. Some of those designs were slick, NGL.
Also, a "Ya Boy Kongming" AU featuring Claude as the reincarnated tactician in 21st century. Come on, he's the Master Tactician in a Romance of three kingdoms inspired setting, it works for him to help someone kickstart a music career. I vote for Annette, as I ship them, and Eiko Tsukimi is partially based on Kongming's wife.
Right before I forget, the AU is after AM, as Dimitri eventually lead Fodlan to a flourishing land. Like that guy who carried on Kongming's work after his death (I got the basics from the TV Tropes page about, cause it was a popular anime. So I'm like "Welp 3 hopes is coming so")
Edelgard linking with Rayquaza would be funny purely because Ray is a green dragon and the idea of Edelgard being compatible with basically Pokémon!Rhea is. Interesting. :') She should probably be using Ice types, if anything... (anyway the world does need a Conquest AU of FE3H honestly this was a great idea. thank u anon.)
The Zhuge Liang / Claude comparison seems fun, though that one is probably not intended by Koei, ahaha. But for an AU... perhaps? I wonder what 21st century tacticians even do? :D; I am not familiar with the anime!
(honestly personally I still cant get over that the directors admitted Claude was based on Yang Wenli. Truly eye-opening. I can only applaud their taste)

everything below the read more!
Gwyn, the Unsung Hero - Part II Though the story of Gwyn is little known in Fodlan society, one tale that has recently surfaced from obscurity is that of the Ghost of Annwen.
Legends say that the spirit of a fallen warrior sleeps for a hundred years at a time, deep beneath a lake hidden in the Oghma Mountains. When it wakes, it shows one of two faces - that of a great hero or a terrible demon. None may know which face it will show when it awakens - only that the world will be forever changed. Even in sleep, it guards the mountains, ensuring peace and order, answering the prayers of those who are in great danger. However, those who dare incite violence and tragedy within the ancient sanctuary will be hunted down without mercy by the Demon of Annwen.
There was a time in ancient history when it brought unfathomable destruction and chaos to Fodlan, and was condemned to death for its misdeeds.
And yet, there was another time when it saved Fodlan from certain doom, sacrificing itself in the process.
The hero is just and fair as much as the demon is cruel and wretched, so says the tale. So different in their natures, yet they are bound together, trapped to wander this mortal realm in a hopeless, never-ending search for salvation. But what is the true meaning of the 'salvation' that it seeks? How does one grant salvation to that which is already dead?
Once there was a scholar who penned this tale in full, even citing evidence that attributes this tale to Gwyn, the Unsung Hero of Annwen. However, this script has since been struck by the Church, under the orders of Seteth. How strange that such a simple tale would be condemned as blasphemy under the eyes of Seiros.
Supposedly, the librarian Tomas took such an interest in the tale that he traveled to the Oghma Mountains for months at a time to visit the village of Annwen, hoping to learn more. In recent years, he seems to have returned to his duties working at the Garreg Mach library full-time. When asked of his research, he said that his efforts bore little fruit - it seems that the so-called 'Ghost of Annwen' is little more than a fanciful story.
These days, it seems more and more likely that no such spirit exists today - for Demonic Beasts now roam and rampage the once tranquil mountainside where Annwen formerly stood, and there is neither a hero nor a demon present to keep the peace. And yet, those brave enough to venture into the forbidden wilderness will find it mysteriously strewn with corpses - that of both monsters and sinister mages garbed in masks and dark robes.

The Capricious One - Part IV Of all Nabateans, the Capricious One was said to be the most talented in their ability to shapeshift and transform.
They even had the ability to suppress the power of their Nabatean blood, hiding their Crest in order to better assume the guise of a common beast or a human.
Some said they were the weakest amongst their family. Others said they simply preferred to keep their true strengths hidden, and were not to be underestimated.
Little did the Children of the Goddess know, that so great was their power to transform that they could split their physical forms voluntarily, with each part fully alive and able to act independently of the other. But to do so repeatedly and for extended periods of time would invite confusion. Changes in personality. Distorted memories. A loss of self. And eventually, madness. Thus, whether in form or in spirit, all parts must one day rejoin, lest existence itself become unbearable.
The only one who knew of this power was the Hammer of Judgment. When the two were younger, he saw that the Capricious One was eager to test their limits, and so asked his sibling, "Do you not fear losing yourself forever?" The Capricious One laughed at this and answered, "To remember who I am, I need only to look towards The Beginning."
Now, Sothis is gone, leaving behind nary a beacon to guide a lost and shattered soul from the depths of madness. And to this day, there exist countless Demonic Beasts that carry even the smallest essence of the Capricious One's blood in their veins. With each one felled, they reclaim a part of themselves, that even in death they may someday become whole once more.

tee hee hello hi i edited some paired ending cards for the house leaders because they are an inseparable set of boom booms and are strongest together and must not be separated!!! the text for each card is below the cut for anyone who uses a screen reader :)
Dimitri (Lion of Legend) & Edelgard (Eagle of Flames)
After the war’s peaceful end, Dimitri formally ascended the throne as the first king of a secular Faerghus and worked tirelessly to build a nation free of intolerance and persecution. Alongside his sister, the ruler of Adrestia, he invested wealth and resources into the regions of Fódlan most damaged by the war. Their reign marked the rebirth of Duscur as a free, sovereign state, as well as a reformed education system that resulted in widespread knowledge of many cultures and faiths. The two were known for their heated quarrels and banter, but the balance of Dimitri’s kindness and Edelgard’s passion led Fódlan to a new era of fairness and prosperity. It is said that when Dimitri’s daughter came of age, the princess received a gift from her aunt: a dagger, which had been given to her by her most treasured friend.
Claude (King of Unification) & Dimitri (Lion of Legend)
Following the destruction of Shambhala, Claude was formally chosen by his peers and his citizens to rule the first democratic Kingdom of Leicester. His reign inspired the dissolution of the Church of Seiros as Fodlan’s ruling force and allowed its followers to practice alongside believers of many different faiths. This feat was only possible with the support of Dimitri, who sought to bring knowledge and love for all cultures and beliefs into his own kingdom. Together, they succeeded in returning coastal lands along Faerghus’s border to the people of Sreng, whom they helped establish the most successful port for fishing in both countries’ histories. Dimitri would cite his dearest friend as the reason why Fódlan’s people never went hungry, and the grand feasts that he hosted whenever they met were his way of thanking him.
Claude (King of Unification) & Edelgard (Eagle of Flames)
Following the defeat of those who slither in the dark at the hands of Fódlan’s unified army, the new Adrestian Empire flourished under Edelgard’s rule as a prosperous state built on the principles of freedom and equality. She credited many of her highly effective foreign policy reforms to Claude, whose friendship and guidance helped her achieve the goal of seeing Fódlan as a beacon of acceptance and love for all cultures and backgrounds. When Claude took his place as the King of Almyra, their combined leadership helped countless civilizations thrive and support each other in times of need. The two eventualy retired together to spend their days traveling the world, and Edelgard’s dream of experiencing the sun’s warmth to her heart’s content, and leading an ordinary life with the one she cherished most, finally came true.

FE OC WEEK DAY 6: Supports
I'm back with another post about Maeve!
I've already explored her most important relationships. So today, I will focus on dynamics that I didn't have the time and space to develop in my fic through supports with Dimitri, Annette and Sylvain!
Like Maeve's story, all supports take place after the time skip.
See also her backstory for more info about her!
And as usual, I hope there aren't too many mistakes!
Maeve & Dimitri
C: Dimitri has a headache and he goes to Maeve, thinking music could help him relax. He wants her to sing a specific song that he heard during his teenage years but only remembers the melody. Maeve convinces him to hum the tune even though he's a bit embarrassed. She recognizes the song and plays it.
The sweet and serene melody moves Dimitri and he thanks her warmly. Maeve tells him that she understands. As she is very sensitive, a song, or a book can make her feel vivid emotions. Dimitri is relieved that she understood what he felt without even needing words.
B: Maeve encounters Dimitri and greets him. Dimitri notes that she looks happy. Maeve says that she is and giggles. She then becomes more serious as she thanks him for saving Dedue during the Tragedy. Dimitri says that he only did what was right, as Dedue was about to be struck down by a Faerghian knight next to his little sister’s corpse. Maeve tells him that he is a good and just monarch and that she’s honored to fight for him.
Dimitri says that he must work harder and that he must have worried her when she joined his army. He apologizes for bringing them all into this quest of revenge. Maeve says that she was indeed very worried, but that she trusts him now. She adds that Gladys would be happy to talk to him. Dimitri blushes a little and leaves Maeve to find Gladys.
A: After the victory at Enbarr, Maeve congratulates Dimitri. He thanks her for her service and her courage in battle. He saw her confrontation with her father and understands why she hid her imperial origins. Maeve answers that what is done is done and that she has no regrets. Dimitri asks about her future projects. Maeve says that she will leave the army and work as a musician. She explains that she dreams of compiling songs from all of Fodlan and beyond.
Dimitri promises her a place in court and says that he will be her patron and asks her to sing during his official coronation. He also promises to cover all the expenses of her wedding ceremony with Dedue. Delighted, Maeve congratulates him on his future wedding with Gladys and promises to sing her best songs.
Maeve & Annette
C: At Garreg Mach, Annette is helping Maeve with her training. Maeve notes that Annette would make a wonderful teacher. Maeve comments on the fact that, unlike Annette who’s a decent healer, she’s very bad at it and worries that something bad could happen. That’s why she learned first aid. Annette tells her that it’s a very good idea and that Maeve is already being very useful on her own. Each magician is unique, with their strengths and weaknesses.
Annette adds that Maeve is furthermore able to do things that others can’t, such as singing. Maeve teases Annette by telling her that she has a lovely singing voice. Annette is a bit embarrassed that Maeve heard everything, but Maeve tells her not to worry.
B: In Fhirdiad, Maeve and Annette explore the School of Sorcery after a productive study session. Both women compare their education and the reasons why they decided to learn magic. Maeve tells her that she would have loved to study there. She admires the school’s founder, queen Maude, and is currently reading Loog and the maiden of wind. Annette says that she loves that book as well. She shows her places such as the classroom where the queen gave the school's first lecture. They talk about the magical prowess of Maude and her daughter Gwendolen.
They stop by the courtyard where a statue of Maude used to be before the war. Annette explains that a legend says that if you had studied well, you could ask for the statue’s blessing before taking your exams. Both agree that they need a blessing before returning to battle since the equations they solved earlier will turn into deadly spells on the field.
A: Maeve and Annette congratulate each other after fighting side by side. They start to talk about their plans for the future. Maeve confesses that she didn’t know what she would do until now, that she was afraid of leaving their friends. In a way, she’s still afraid that she won’t be able to fit into civilian life again with all the violence she has seen and committed. But she’s now determined to try.
She asks Annette if she has ever suffered from being the youngest of her class. Annette admits that she wanted to be taken seriously. They both agree that they are now sure of their worth. Annette says that she’s still unsure about how to act with her father. Maeve advises her to let time decide and to listen to her feelings first. Annette thanks her and they promise to always stay in touch.
Maeve & Sylvain
Important note: in my story, Sylvain isn't a skirt chaser and doesn't make the same comments about women that he does in the game. I love the rest of his character, but this part of him makes me deeply uncomfortable. Besides, there would no way Maeve could be comfortable around him if that was the case.
C: At the School of sorcery, Sylvain studies with Maeve since they both have an affinity for fire magic. Maeve is surprised to see him there since she didn’t think he had a talent for that. Sylvain explains with his usual carefree attitude that he’s a friend of Felix’s cousin, Aoife, and that she dragged him into this. As they both start working, Sylvain impresses Maeve by grasping immediately a complex formula, as he did with Annette. Maeve immediately understands that Sylvain is downplaying his abilities and she wonders why.
Sylvain may have grasped theory but lacks practice. Maeve thus gives him tips to improve his spell casting, especially in a life-and-death situation. They both part happy and satisfied with their progress and congratulate each other. Maeve didn’t think that Sylvain would take the study session seriously but understands that she was wrong. He then tells her that he has maybe decided to stop fooling around and focus on his responsibilities.
B: Maeve and Sylvain meet again in the gardens where Maeve is looking at the flowers she planted with Dedue. Sylvain notes that it’s nice that Dedue has been able to make more friends and find support. He teases her, noting that she is often seen by Dedue’s side these days. Maeve playfully retorts that she and Dedue are planning to plant flowers everywhere they go.
Sylvain says that people are too busy being angry at the Duscurians to think about the truth. Maeve asks him if he too thinks that the people of Duscur are innocent. Sylvain says yes and they both share their conclusions regarding the responsibility of the Faerghian nobles. A newfound respect blossoms between them. Sylvain then tells Maeve that she too is more than she sees and that the people who see just a pretty little red bird in her are bound to regret it later.
A: After the fight at Enbarr, Sylvain tells Maeve that he saw what happened with her father. He understands that she doesn’t want to talk about it, but asks her if she’s okay as it reminds him of the day he had to face Miklan. Maeve tells her that she doesn’t regret what happened since it was the consequence of her father’s actions. She’s happy that justice will be at least served for her mother. Sylvain stays silent, as Maeve’s words help him see his brother’s demise in a new light. Maeve vents a little, saying that she’s disgusted and outraged that her father offered her money and thought that it could make her forget what he did.
To cheer her up, Sylvain says that he wants to start negotiating with Sreng and to have a Sreng embassy come. This could thus be an opportunity for her to hear new songs, though Sreng music sheets must certainly look very different from the ones they are used to. Maeve playfully says that she wants to learn to play the morin khuur and asks what Sreng script looks like. Sylvain explains that it's written in vertical lines and reads from left to right. He finds Sreng epic poetry beautiful. Maeve wishes him luck, trusting his ability to build better relationships with their neighbors.

“Red Lady stoopid”
Who wants more Fantasy Invader?
... Well I don’t either, but he is a darkly amusing source of content to debunk.
Next we’re diving into a... fever dream where FI tries to convince everyone Edelgard’s a stupid, stupid little girl who was lied to and tricked.
Because Edelcrits don’t even respect that Edelgard is aware of what she’s trying to do unless they convince themselves she’s just trying to take over Fodlan.
Tumblr media
Sadly, I’ve long forgotten what he was replying to. Judging from usual trends, probably something RandomNameless said.
Anyways, Aegir was working with the Agarthans, so that’s a distinction without a difference.
Tumblr media
Fascinating how, when it’s time to deny Edelgard’s agency and portray her as a stupid little girl in over her head, they actually listen to what Thales said during that cutscene in White Clouds, but when it’s time to blame her for Duscur or justify Dimitri’s irrational assertion that she did Duscur, they just take it at face value when he says Duscur was done for her. In actuality, the Agarthans did Duscur for themselves.
Tumblr media
First off, Aymr has nothing to do with the secret history unless you’re Fantasy Invader and you think “Devil Arcana! Devil means EVIL!”
Secondly, if Aymr represents the Agarthans having control over Edelgard in SB (you know, the route where she betrays them and kills them...), why do you get it in the story branch where Byleth - Sothis’s avatar - doesn’t die? Wouldn’t it be the other way around?
This’ll come up later (FI has a lot to say about Claude and GW in future posts) but FI does actually just cut to the quick and says the player getting Blutgang in GW is further “proof” of it being a bad route. So yes, Marianne’s Crest is a sign of corruption and she was right to hate herself. And naturally, this story branch gets the Blue Lions the “good” item, because if FI didn’t have double standards he wouldn’t have any.
Tumblr media
No. I’ve touched on this subject before, but knowing the secret history (for god’s sake, stop it with the “sekrit”, you sound like a petulant child who realizes he’s already lost the argument and is resorting to being petty) is not what motivated Edelgard to go to war.
Secondly, here’s the full quote where Edelgard tells what she’s learned:
Edelgard: Professor... Do you know the true story behind the legend? The Relics were created by the hands of mankind. Seiros collected them after killing the 10 Elites. Seiros manipulated the people of the world and defeated the all-powerful King Nemesis.
This is all true.
Rhea created the Empire to get revenge on Nemesis. She admits to deceiving her followers herself:
Tumblr media
Choice 1: I thought he was corrupted by his power?
Choice 2: Why would she do that?
Edelgard: That's the history the Church of Seiros maintains. However, it was little more than a simple dispute. The church maintains the false history that he was corrupted and turned evil.
Completely true. Nemesis was not corrupted by “evil gods”.
However, it was little more than a simple dispute.
In this, Edelgard’s mistaken: it was far more than a “simple dispute”. However, if you want to blame someone for Edelgard’s misunderstanding, blame Rhea. Neither Nemesis nor the Ten Elites had any clue why she was fighting them until the end.
As I’ve said before, the importance of this scene is NOT what Edelgard knows, but what she doesn’t know, the implication behind her not knowing it is that even Wilhelm didn’t know Rhea’s motives for wanting to fight Nemesis.
Should the one leading the people of the world be someone with humanity or a creature that can merely masquerade as a human at will? In the end, Seiros was victorious. The Immaculate One and her family then took control of Fódlan. I know this because that knowledge is passed down from emperor to emperor. And that is the because the first emperor is the human who cooperated with Seiros, allowing humanity to be controlled in secret.
This seems to be why Fantasy Invader thinks the secret history is why Edelgard fights Rhea, but it isn’t. She fights her out of an understanding that the Church of Seiros is the cornerstone of Fodlan’s horrific system of Crests and aristocracy.
It’s more of this recurring trend from Edelcrits where they want to de-legitimize anyone’s reasons for fighting Rhea. Edelgard wants to fight her because she was lied to, the Western Church want to fight her because they’re racist, and Claude at first doesn’t like her because he’s ignorant and needs enlightening by the white dragon pope (we’ll get to that...)
Tumblr media
Jesus christ “her simp”. How fucking old is Fantasy Invader? 16? Am I justified to call Dedue a simp now? Probably not. I actually hold myself to standards.
And yeah, FI still thinks Hubert is an Agarthan.
And “Jeritza the serial killer”. How come when Dimitri falls to his violent psychosis he’s given infinite sympathy and chances to redeem himself, but when Jeritza becomes desperately mentally unwell he’s a “serial killer”. They’ve accused me of ableism just to do it themselves.
Ah well, good opportunity to shill a pretty old post of mine that got big last year.
But now to cycle back to the “willing to turn a blind eye” portion.
Fantasy Invader never sources anything he says (which means I then have to research what the fuck he’s even talking about), but I believe he’s referring to Edelgard’s B support with Hubert in Hopes.
To open, Hubert’s lamenting that Rhea escaped into the Kingdom because they didn’t surround Garreg Mach and tear it apart when they had the chance. Edelgard admonishes him;
Hubert, that idea came from Lord Arundel... That is to say, Thales. And it’s an impractical idea at that - one based on unreliable experimental assets that had never been tested in battle.
That’s really it. We don’t know how much she knows of the nature of the “assets” or how they were even going to be made. Given how alarmed she is at the sight of Remire, it’s very unlikely she was aware of the full scope of the devastation the Agarthans planned to cause.
Tumblr media
She never said Nemesis was the hero. She doesn’t make any moral statement on Nemesis at all, just that he wasn’t corrupted by evil gods - which he wasn’t.
She can see with her eyes that Rhea has enormous influence over Fodlan, and that she was a cruel beast to screamed her intent to murder Byleth in an exceedingly violent way the moment Byleth turned on her - funny how Edelcrits never seem to notice Edelgard only calls Rhea a “cruel beast” on the route where she behaves with extreme violence.
Something to recall about Edelgard is that she’s a very dramatic person; she tends to make grandiose statement that fall short of her actual intent. See her saying she would “obliterate” Rhea, just to then offer her terms of surrender.
And lastly, she probably doesn’t believe the legends that her family claims descent from Seiros - and she’d be right to, given we know House Hresvelg has its Crest of Seiros through blood transfusion, not from Rhea boinking Wilhelm.
Also, fucking “Willy”...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, she’s not descended from Rhea. When Rhea says she “shared blood”, she means that quite literally, not in the usual metaphorical sense. Unless you want to propose that Flayn had kids with Linhardt’s ancestors, you creep.
So what FI is talking about on the second point comes from the original Japanese reading of Edelgard’s A support with Byleth in Houses.
Now in this regard I have to rely on machine translation, sadly, but;
I'm relieved that even though you're so far from humans, you still have a human side.
Well, in the same way, I may have drifted away from ordinary people a little.
In much the same way Céline uses “human” when talking to Alear,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edelgard’s not saying she and Byleth aren’t literally human, just that they’ve grown apart from ordinary people.
(Unless you want to accuse Céline of being racist against dragons, which would be a pretty hard sell, I have to say).
The Divine Dragon in Engage and the Nabateans in Houses and Hopes occupy a similar space; they’re treated like gods, not another species. In this regard, “human” means not the species but the trait of being approachable and limited. Mortal, not divine, which is the crux of Byleth’s dichotomy.
Additionally, Edelgard, who is human but has grown detached due to her experiences and trauma, is comparing her experiences to Byleth’s. How on earth is Edelgard being metaphorically distant from her fellow man comparable to Byleth supposedly literally not being human?
Maybe Fantasy Invader thinks Edelgard is applying the “one drop of blood rule” to herself. Yuck.
Oh, and Byleth’s not half-Nabatean. Jeralt was human, Sitri was neither.
Tumblr media
She’s creating a world for the Agarthans by... killing the Agarthans.
Again, Fantasy Invader seems to think Thales’s plan was:
1. Kill Rhea.
2. Spend the next thousand years binging Netflix at my pad in Shambhala.
Nah, he kinda wanted to take over the surface, too, and he fails at that in Crimson Flower.
Edelgard isn’t achieving the Agarthans’ goals for them if she completes step 3 of their plan and then turns on them and kills them with steps 4 through 6 still in progress.
Fantasy Invader is exhausting to deal with sometimes, lol. It’s all half-formed gish-gallops with him, it reminds me of the angry ranting car vlogs Logicked debunks on You Tube.
Luckily he sticks to the same points so frequently that I can often just point back to earlier posts I made and go “nuh-uh”. Also I enjoy the rhetorical exercise.

He had taken notice of her near immediately at the gathering to leave Something about that blonde hair and eyes full of fierce determination strung a chord in his memory. She carried herself with an air of layered grace - someone who has seen the world and tasted its mercies yet still smiled at the dawn. Someone who was kind. It was out of the ordinary for him to approach a stranger for a rude curiosity, but something, something in his mind told him to speak to this young woman. As he watched her chat with others, the blazing passion of Lachesis passed his thoughts. Hm. How strange. Well, she did resemble her. A younger version of his sister, perhaps. Strange, was it, that he would think of Lachesis now....He had only just arrived in Fodlan and now it seemed like he was leaving. "Excuse me, miss, might you need any help with weapon maintenance?" It was a lousy excuse to talk, as excuses went. Shame flooded Eldigan's head. He should just stick to sticking to the side and stop waxing poetic about the past.
Recognition gave way to clouded waters, as she tried to make out what this presence had meant to her. Ares... Her mouth rounded to call out his name, but froze on the 'A' as bells chimed off in her head. This was not her dearest cousin, but a man she kept dear to her posthumously, as his writing detailed his allegiance to a man of legend. He, himself, was a sort of legend—in the eyes of her mother, who hailed after his name for years after his passing. There's a silliness to it, that arched her heart like childhood swings. "Oh dear..." Her smile crinkles to life, half teetering on the precipice of laughter. "Oh, you don't know, sir, how closely I've kept you to my heart."
His letter was the reason she started her own collection of letters, and his quick thinking was the reason why she had the very weapon that he had passed down to her mother. And from her, to Nanna. "...I hardly think..." She's struck with a keen shyness, wriggling to keep her thoughts straight while her mother's hero stood before her in the flesh. Quietly, she unveiled the Earth Sword, curving it before his eyes to see for himself. "...The Earth Sword needs any more maintenance than it's been allowed."
Its strange, rune-like texture crumbled like that of the Earth, lending itself to be difficult to toil over. Nanna, herself, poured hours into polishing it, treasuring its cracks and worn edges much like an old friend, rather than a sage she whispered secrets to. Her smile reaches her eyes, knowing that the man before her had seen the world and laid his head on the altar for one last time. His sacrifice had been, in her mother's words, kind. And in Nanna's eyes: heartbreaking.
Her heart still crumbles, to look at him this way.
"You are..." Her eyes flutter to the sword at first, to come up with something triumphant, something noble to say to him. Instead, they flickered back to him, to reminisce on something she should have kept a better secret. Having unsealed the wax stamp pressed onto his letter by nightfall—after having lost herself in a fit of silent grief over her mother—she shamefully put his handwriting to memory. She remembered working with the candle that night, to melt the seal back into place.
"...My mother's truest sun. My cousin's earnest will."
A soft prick of tears reach her eyes before she can help herself. She wonders why she hoped a letter would fill that space in her heart. (But it did. And it will.)
"Oh..." She curled back a knuckle to dry her eyes. "My name is Nanna. Of Nordion."
"It's nice to meet you, uncle."

If enbarr is really the land of debauchery, why would cichol have married there?
Humans and their habits evolve faster than Nabatean do -
Within 300 years the humans of Enbarr suddenly started to sprout baths everywhere (also NOT helped by Rhea bringing an aqueduct), and while it was at first for bathing, now it's for recreation, and with recreation comes "unproper" behaviour -
people holding their hands and "befriending" each other in the baths, rooms for rubbing scented oil on bodies, etc etc -
Add the mosaics ???
Hopefully, by the time he returned to Garreg Mach, he was overjoyed to notice that humans started to have more "morals" and evolved in the "right way" from what happened back then in Enbarr.
However, listening to Manuela's drunken rants makes him realise that maybe it's just Enbarr that is a hell pit and cursed to forever be a land of debauchery, and the Enbarrian atmosphere corrupted the humans living there.

hi, i wanted to know your thoughts about something... do you believe that rhea's name is actually rhea? like we know seteth's true name is cichol, flayn's is cethleann, etc. since rhea revealed that she "called" herself seiros, to me, she's kind of implying that it was not her real name? idk. what do you think about that and her name "rhea"? is that another alias, her true name, or a secret third thing for you? thanks in advance!
Ah man. I love this question so much. It's such a point of debate.
I definitely don't think her name is actually Seiros (another name for Sirius... I think it's Greek? Whereas Sothis was Egyptian I believe... On mobile and don't have time to look it up on break).
I say her true name is Rhea, based pretty much entirely upon the fact that the writers have never given us any other option for a name. It would also be Very Rhea to embrace as much as her mother gave her as she possibly could... And since she cannot out herself as Nabatean, and a lot of her culture must remain hidden (i.e. The Holy Tomb is described as having architecture unlike anything else in Fodlan, save for the wreckage of Zanado) I do believe she would at the very least keep her name.
I wonder if Seteth and Flayn took on aliases after the war for the same reason Rhea discarded hers; they didn't want people to know that they were the Saints of Legend. Chichol and Cethleann would be such dead giveaways if anyone ever suspected Seteth or Flayn of being more than they let on. Whereas Rhea already had an alias, so she just went back to who she was, back when she was no one.

No Need for Hunky Boys
As the most successful scammers of the group, “Marth” and “Roy” are your biggest targets. A chance encounter in a large town brings you face to face with the two, but things turn complicated when a crowd forms in support of the imposters. A gaggle of fans proudly support these “down-to-earth princes”, viciously defending them against your supposed slander. Try as you might, just one sensuous “babygirl” from Marth is enough to rally the crowd against you. The puffed-up “Roy” goes as far as to say they are undefeatable in their strength and purity of heart… but can they prove it? [Grants Sword +1]
(Starter for @ashenprofessor)
The imposters had spread all over Faerghus, from what Raven had heard. One sprouted up in some town or another, scammed and lied and lived their best hedonist life, and promptly vacated as soon as shit hit the fan. He had seen a few with his own eyes since coming to the monastery, and most them were chump change, barely worth their salt if they had been actual bounties.
These, though. They were told that these were the cream of the crop, a real smash shakeup to the Faerghan economy. Hero King "Marth", and Young Lion "Roy".
Raven knew they weren't the real deal – he'd seen both of the young men in class and about the halls. They were simultaneously not what he expected, and more. They moved with the surety of legends, but were undeniably still young men.
Regardless, they were assured, these imposters were top targets to take down. As though anticipating this, they had assigned him to a teacher from the Golden Deer that had their own reputation in Fodlan. Deceptively small, pretty face, Raven nonetheless recognized that Byleth moved with the same predator's intent that he did. For all that it was worth, he felt content with the assignment.
They traveled north, moving from town to town gathering intel on the imposters' last whereabouts, falling mere steps short each time.
They eventually stopped in a border town to rest the horses and to take a meal before making the long stretch back to the monastery to regroup. In times past Raven found that failure and uncertainty made people jittery and feeling the need to blabber on in their nervousness, but he was pleased to learn that this didn't seem to be the case with Byleth – if anything, he felt the tug to say something to them, ask questions about their sword work, about the company they had traveled with.
Scowling, he bit into his ration, stifling the urge to make small talk, scanning the crowd to mask his frustration with himself.
Within moments his eyes alighted on the now-familiar sight of flaming-red and serene-blue hair.
He swallowed, narrowed his eyes at the crowd that seemed to surround the boys, and he gently elbowed Byleth to get their attention, gesturing over to the crowd. "I think that might be for us," he said.

Here is my contribution for today’s prompt for @fe-oc-week ! Oct 11 - Backstory
Today I will be providing more context about Kitt's life before Garreg Mach!
(cw: blood, death, injury, body horror)
Tumblr media
Below the read more is more lore! :3
The Village at Lake Annwen - Part I Deep within the mountain wilderness lie the ruins of an ancient city not unlike Zanado. Here, the villagers of Annwen venerated Gwyn - the Unsung Hero - honoring their life and deeds through unique traditions passed down with each generation. In particular, the villagers safeguarded unique stones said to bear ancient magic. Each villager, when they were near adulthood, would endure a series of trials testing their bravery, skill, and conviction in order to inherit their own stone. The most prized of these stones was the Heart of Annwen, from which all stones of its kind originate. It was said to have been left behind when Gwyn entered their final rest. The youngest and last-known bearer of this stone was Kitt Burgess, who passed all their trials with success heretofore unseen.
Tumblr media
Like their predecessors, Kitt was responsible for protecting the stone with their very life, and was provided secret tutelage on how the Heart of Annwen may be used. The most forbidden knowledge of all was the Rite of Awakening, in which the stone may be used to call forth Gwyn from their endless sleep. Though this would supposedly allow the hero of legend to return to life, such a course of action would have irreversible consequences for the villagers of Annwen.
By invoking the ritual, whoever carried the Heart of Annwen would serve as Gwyn's corporeal vessel. Those who carried its fragments close to their hearts would be offered up in sacrifice and reborn as Gwyn's retinue of warriors. And so, such a ritual was to only be used in desperate circumstances, when the village faced no chance of salvation and Gwyn was needed to avenge their people and protect the outside world from greater disaster.
Tumblr media
Though the story of Gwyn and the former ancient city of Annwen is not widely known across Fodlan, the village received occasional visitors in the form of traveling merchants, pilgrims, and scholars who wished learn more of Gwyn, one of the more obscure figures in Fodlan's ancient history. In recent years, an envoy of mages began to make frequent visits to Annwen, dressed in dark cloaks and claiming to be affiliated with the Church of Seiros. Not long after, the disaster of Annwen unfolded…
Tumblr media
Today, there is nothing left of the village - save for corpses and monsters among burnt buildings. Only Kitt emerged as the sole survivor, a familiar red stone embedded in their neck, and a knife clutched in their hands. The Church of Seiros conducted an investigation, but failed to determine the exactly what had transpired. At the desecrated site of Gwyn's final resting place, near the ruined village of Annwen, there is evidence that a ritual did in fact take place. But if it was indeed the Rite of Awakening, then something must have gone horribly awry - for the villagers have all transformed into Demonic Beasts… and the hero Gwyn is nowhere to be found.
Tumblr media
The Capricious One - Part II The Capricious One lived in a time when the humanity began to turn jealous eyes upon the Children of the Goddess. Hoping to instill a sense of purpose in their wayward child, The Progenitor God sent The Capricious One to barter peace and diplomacy with the Agarthans when the first sparks of conflict appeared.
Instead, The Capricious One began to spy upon their own brethren in earnest for the benefit of the Agarthans, revealing the secrets of the Nabatean people and their physiology.
What was the reason for this?
Some say they held a grudge against their own family for past slights. Some say they desired a fair fight between the Nabateans and the Agarthans, fearing that the humans were far outmatched and in danger of being annihilated.
In any case, the Capricious One was genuinely invested in helping mankind advance their craft and innovation. They offered their scales and blood to the Agarthans, which would be used to fashion the first prototype Umbral Steel weapons - early predecessors of the Heroes' Relics.
Their contributions were enough to shift the tides of war, causing the conflict to escalate greatly. Soldiers wielding magical weapons of unknown make began to appear, sending the Nabateans on the backfoot and causing widespread destruction throughout the land. The Children of the Goddess whispered of a fearsome Agarthan warrior who shadowed their every step and harried them at every turn like a demon who knew their weaknesses, laughing and reveling at the violence that tore the beloved land apart.
The Umbral Weapons looted from the fallen Agarthan soldiers were brought to Sothis herself and examined more closely. It was then that the treachery of the Capricious One was finally exposed. They were the one responsible for these horrid new weapons, and they were the true identity of the Agarthan warrior who took joy in tormenting the Nabatean people.
Confronted by their brethren, the Capricious One prepared to explain themselves. But what the Immaculate One did next ensured that they would speak not one word more.

There is no me, no self to call mine.
Bramimond was one of the Eight Legends who fought against the dragons in The Scouring in Elibe. They are over 1000 years old and lost their humanity and self in order to gain incredible Dark power to help win the war on humanity's side, specifically to master the tome Apocalypse. Previously the guardian of Elibe who had sealed the Legendary Weapons due to their danger, Bramimond released the seals and then went back to sleep, but now has woken up once more to watch over Fodlan from Abyss.
For those unfamiliar, Bramimond is a shape-shifter. Having no base self anymore and existing more like sentient energy than person, they reflect the appearance, voice, and temperament of whoever addressed them last/whoever is speaking to them. For threads, this will often be their partner's muse. Bramimond's personality will also reflect whoever they are with, but their sense of will/goals will remain their own. Emotions are channeled/reflected and not originating from within them.
Pronouns: They will be my default in referring to Bramimond, but They/He/She/It are all acceptable for other muses and their prose.
Appearance: Bramimond will reflect others around them, but I have decided to let them keep a green cloak on their person in order to partially hide the constant shifting, so they often have the hood up. (The green cloak is due to Mark having a green cloak and reflecting the PC, but shhh.) They have noticed that having no permanent form causes inconvenient problems with the mortals.
Muses will likely notice something is amiss within a reply or two. Fun!
