Are photos all that remain?
I hope my life is worth leaving behind.
Got no time to take ’em.
Still been all V’s and cheese.
Instead of a photo album, I fill up another album.
Yeah, I won’t attend awards ceremonies.
I respectfully decline.
My report card is the passport that’s always full of stamps
After going on a tour; they tell me I did really well.
I’m proud of myself, proud of myself.
Making my tenth full length on my daughter’s tenth.
Got her arms around my neck, no chains.
This gold, none of y’all can flex.
Put down your phone.
No more cameras.
When you live life to the fullest and close your eyes,
Pulling up a single smile,
That’s how to take the real best shot of your life.

We’re far too interested
In trying to remember everything.
Beyond just photos, photo albums pile up.
Knowing they’ll be filled with more regrets than memories,
We put happiness in our hearts, not our eyes.

Turn to rust by the hand of time.
Times we love and were loved are the only ones—
Scenes that are beautiful even when old and worn.
Thousands of eyes seen from onstage
That shine brighter than spotlights,
When the curtains fall and we lean on each other,
Making jokes as our nerves relax.
At the beginning and end of a hard day,
Your smile is like a comma.
When I pass through your filter,
Even my ordinary everyday becomes a pictorial.
