Eddie shook his head, overwhelmed with his thoughts.

“Look, I appreciate it Bosko, but I just—I don’t know. This is my kid we’re talking about.”

“I know that, and I know how much you love him. Hell, you’ve sent me ten plus emails when I was watching him for you.”

Eddie looked to where there was a line coming out of the office, his other teammates no doubt having several emergency questions of their own. He turned to Lena, giving his full attention.

The transphobe actress will probably be back in the next episode (they do have to move that storyline forward somehow). Tommy will definitely also be back in the next episode. there’s a particular contradiction of eddie that i find fascinating. raised more or less by a single mother, responsible for his sisters from a young age, surrounded by women all his life, he grows up seeing women as friend-shaped. but at the lowest moments of his life it’s the women in his life that seem to suffer from his indifference and tendencies to repress his feelings the most. he returns from war with a medal and a boatload of ptsd and misplaced guilt and he and shannon (who had pre-existing problems to be sure) almost instantly fall apart because of their lack of communication and partnership. shannon dies and instead of working through his grief he pushes everything down and moves forward and his new friend lena gets the brunt of the explosion that inevitably comes of it. and then he gets shot and ana, who lets be honest was never more than a rebound relationship and that’s ok, gets an eddie who doesn’t want things to change, who sees building a ready-made family with a woman he’s barely interested in as logical and easy when it’s anything but. the dichotomy of eddie diaz: woman whisperer and eddie diaz: that asshole is one of the things i love about 9-1-1’s storytelling. their characters are complex and multifaceted and this is only one of a thousand ways they show us that.
