ALRIGHT So like you know in the Aliens movie (number 2) theres Private Vasquez and Lieutenant Gorman? You know how they hate eachother? You know how they died in eachothers arms defending their crew whilst clutching hands over the grenade they knew would kill them both after Vasquez runs out of ammo? You know how Vasquez said “You always were an asshole Gorman” YOU KNOW HOW THAT HAPPENED?? Sorry im getting carried away. Anyway, they both hated eachother, and were totally in love, and it totally gets to me that no one believes that! Everyone says they were just enemies, and what do you mean dying in a fiery explosion is basically sex, but theyre wrong!! Vasquez always was the “Shoot first, ask the Lieut. for permission later type” so when she, with a fatal leg wound, being swarmed by xenomorphs, lays her head back on Gormans chest with her fingers tightly wrapped around his own as he shakily pulls the trigger, gives him control, understanding that even though she tried she cant shoot her way out of this one is so djhdhd to me. And what sucks is like Ripley doesnt even give a shit!! Yeah yeah the aliens are coming save the child that reminded you of your own that you missed the life of, idgaf mourn the death of the lovers!! You jackass!! Idek if that made sense but these too are just so hhhh. Yeah this made no sense but its late and im having a moment. Anyway shitty 80s movie blorbos and I have autism badstyle
do you want to kiss

Hey there! I love your work :) Was just wondering if you would be able to do a dating hicks and Hudson from Aliens headcanon <3 separately if thats okay.
Love , P.
What It's Like to Date US Colonial Marines
Headcanon - USCM x Reader - SFW
Tumblr media
AN: Thank you P.! You're a sweetie. Here's a dating headcanon for each of the main marines. Hope you enjoy! Look forward to more requests from you. :)
Private Drake
Tumblr media
Drake is so balls-to-the-wall supportive of anything you do, especially if you're being bad ass as shit.
Drake does not mind being overshadowed by you at all. He's just happy to have you.
He is great in bed and actually gives a fuck about what you both want.
He's not just your partner, he's like your best friend. He's loyal as fuck and devoted as fuck when he finds you because you're his person.
He would do anything for you (within reason) without question.
But he's not going to put up with your shit either. He calls you out when you need to be more aware of what you're doing and has very healthy boundaries. And like wise, even if he is very emotional about a certain happenstance, he is still very self-aware and able to hear reason when you call him out too.
Drake has no toxic masculinity bullshit to deal with, he is incredibly confident in himself and dismisses ridicule for anything considered ‘unmanly’.
Drake is not a full dom, he prefers to switch because he wants both of you to feel powerful.
Definitely the male counterpart in a power couple.
Lieutenant Gorman
Tumblr media
He is very closed-off and stand-offish at first.
He takes himself and his job very seriously and he isn't great with handling criticism.
He has hardcore humiliation trauma.
He's not good at functioning under pressure but always tries to do the right thing when it really counts.
He's someone where it takes you awhile to get past his cold, serious exterior, but once you do, he really is a sweetie.
He's slow to trust, but once he trusts you he is loyal to a fault.
He has a lot of trust issues but he tries really hard to work through them.
He realizes that he's not very physically or publicly affectionate but tries his hardest to make sure you feel loved regardless.
He shuts down during arguments and fights. Being yelled at immediately sends him into a panic attack.
However, he doesn't avoid your problems, he just has to be in a calm environment to deal with it.
He will not cry in front of anyone, even you. This guy has some emotional trauma but again, he's working on it. He most likely comes from a strict, military family and that's his baggage.
Even if he's not the easiest partner to have, he makes up for it where it counts and loves you.
Corporal Hicks
Tumblr media
Hicks is just such a wholesomely good guy.
He has hella respect for strong women and actually listens.
While he closely follows the orders/instructions of those he knows are more qualified to be making the decisions, he still thinks for himself and sticks to his own moral compass.
He is very non-confrontational except in extreme circumstances.
One of his flaws is that he is a giver to a fault. His main thing is making sure everyone around him is good before he thinks of himself.
He will sacrifice for you and the people he cares about without a second thought.
His affection towards you is subtle and sometimes awkward but so sweet and thoughtful.
He wants nothing more than to see you thrive even when he's not.
He would rather everything remain calm and struggles during heated confrontation. He can be non-confrontational to a fault and fails to see any purpose in it.
Yet, it doesn't change the fact that he is always willing to face issues and work through them with you. He just doesn't feel conflict is the way to achieve that.
He definitely dotes on and spoils you, wanting the best for you and nothing less.
He just wants to be your hero.
Private Hudson
Tumblr media
He definitely is reminiscent of the 'lovable asshole' archetype.
Hates when things don't go according to plan.
Humor is definitely his coping mechanism and love language.
He picks on you in a loving way but sometimes hurts your feelings with it. When he realizes that he went too far, he apologizes and stays away from those areas in the future. He really doesn't want to hurt your feelings.
He loves bickering with you like an you're both an old married couple. It's part of the fun for him.
He can be really stubborn and pigheaded sometimes and it can take awhile for him to get over his pride and admit you had a point or were flat-out right. But he always gets there.
He's incredibly cocky but takes his lumps without complaint when his ego is deflated.
Sometimes he is genuinely clueless about what he did wrong even if you think it's obvious. He's not the smartest boy.
Always dtf.
Loves to randomly smack you on the ass and see you blush.
When things go really wrong, you definitely have to be the calm one and keep him turned down a notch. But again, makes the right decisions when it really counts.
He loves to call you baby doll or baby girl or sweetheart.
Can you tell he's my favorite?
Private Vasquez
Tumblr media
Unapologetic bad bitch.
Tough as nails and def has trauma she is not dealing with it.
Her philosophy is to suck it up and always push through it.
She is definitely the dominant partner and while she loves and cares for you, she does not like depending on others.
It takes awhile for her to trust and depend on people, you included.
Her love language is taking a bullet for you rather than being super lovey dovey. But affection is not something she shuns completely.
When she is vulnerable with you, she is deeply vulnerable with you.
She understands that she can be a really intense partner but she's not changing for you or anyone. That's who she is and she needs someone who's down with that.
She definitely is always trying to prepare for the worst case scenario and she hates surprises. They stress her out.
She never lets you feel unappreciated and notices even the little things you do.
She is a beast in bed.
She's one of those people where when they finally open up to you, it feels really special because you understand it takes a lot for them.
Like Drake, she is ride-or-die. She will not leave your side through even the worst shit. She goes hard af for the people she loves.

The Private Vasquez From Aliens Is Getting Her Own Origin Story Book
Tumblr media
Some exciting news for all of you fans of James Cameron’s Aliens, a new book has been announced that will offer a backstory on Private First Class Jenette Vasquez, 2nd Battalion Bravo Team in the United States Colonial Marine Corps. The character was played by Jenette Goldstein in the movie and she was a Smartgun operator with the United States Colonial Marine Corps, part of the 2nd Battalion Bravo Team. She was a member of the combat unit that was deployed to LV-426 to investigate the sudden loss of contact with the colony of Hadley's Hope. She was subsequently involved in combating the Xenomorph infestation at the colony. Vasquez was part of First Squad's gun team, along with Private Hudson. She had a long history with fellow Smartgun operator Private Mark Drake, and the two shared a close relationship. Vasquez was among the last to perish in the incident, choosing to kill herself with Lieutenant Gorman rather than be captured by the Xenomorphs for impregnation. The book is titled Aliens: Vasquez and it is written by V. Castro (The Queen of the Cicadas) it will “explore the canonical background of Vasquez, as well as the story of the children she was forced to leave behind. Even before the doomed mission to Hadley's Hope on LV-426, Jenette Vasquez had to fight to survive. Born to an immigrant family with a long military tradition, she looked up to the stars, but life pulled her back down to Earth — first into a street gang, then prison. The Colonial Marines proved to be Vasquez's way out — a way that forced her to give up her twin children.” Raised by Jenette's sister, “those children, Leticia and Ramon, had to discover their own ways to survive. Leticia by following her mother's path into the military, Ramon by entering the corporate hierarchy of Weyland-Yutani. Their paths converge on an unnamed planet which some see as a potential utopia, while others would use it for highly secretive research. Whatever humans have planned for it, however, Xenomorphs will turn it into a living hell.”

Ho! The house! 🗣
When I grow up, I want a personalized guided tour of the Big House on Fraser’s Ridge
The moment the last tenant hangs up his tool belt, I want to walk back and forth through that breezeway. Peek into every cupboard. Climb every stair. Rootle through every cubbyhole. Jump on every bed. There is so much to see, and touch, and smell… and I want to DO IT ALL!
Tumblr media
Thoughts & Observations: S5E3 Free Will
Marsali is already proving to be the perfect apprentice. She’s motivated, inquisitive, intelligent, detail-oriented, logical, and curious about all sorts of new-fangled ideas and things there in Boston. Just wait till she tastes those cream pies.
Claire’s voiceover almost needs a Dun Dun Dun… soundtrack. Let’s hope she dares history with caution, and the copy of Dr. Rawlings’ Recommendations Fergus delivers to the printer doesn’t include scrawls and doodles of anything too new-fangled.
Really like the Jamie Payne (director) – Luke Schelhass (writer) combo! 😃
No doubt many people echoed Jamie’s Deo gratius when they realized we were being treated to a JamieClaire-centric episode. It worked well for me, but so did Between Two Fires. I find each of Jamie and Claire compelling on their own, pursing their individual interests and causes. I also like seeing their relationships with other characters. Call me kooky.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Callback #1: This one takes place in a kind of Upside Down. Remember S4E5 Savages, when Jamie returned to the Ridge from Woolam’s Creek, happy after discovering #MurtaghSaved? A shotgun-armed Claire was unable to sleep after the tragedies of Petronella’s and her baby’s measle deaths and Adawehi’s murder.
In Free Will, Jamie returns to the Ridge from Hillsborough, stunned by the Regulators’ tarring and feathering and by Lieutenant Knox’s murdering Ethan MacKinnon, and anxious about needing to form a militia. Despite missing Jamie while he’s away, Claire’s work on the Ridge and interaction with her children and grandchildren satisfies her and allows her to sleep soundly.
Fergus takes a mean shorthand! 🖌
We hear the first of many “Roger Mac(s)” to come.
“We’ll be taking yer whisky with us to share with the men. The finest I’ve tasted since leaving Scotland.” Fergus Claudel Fraser: Official Distiller of Fraser’s Ridge (I love this adaptation! I don’t think I mentioned in my The Fiery Cross episode review how much I loved Jamie’s calling Fergus to stand by his hand. Fergus, like Young Ian, is a man of worth.)
⚠️ Murtz Alert ⚠️ Oops… False alarm… 🙁 Fraser’s Ridge workforce includes a lot of silver-haired, ponytail-wearing tenants. 🤷🏻‍♀️
“Mr. Trouble” 😂 Too bad wee Robin Scott, who plays Germain, would be too young to attend most of the cast’s social outings. He would be the life of the party. 🎉
Does Marsali need Brianna’s help with reading because medical books are advanced academics and Brianna holds a degree from M.I.T, or because Laoghaire dropped the ball and didn’t educate her daughters? It’s safe to say Laoghaire didn’t encourage them to read anything that sat on a witch’s bookshelf.
Tumblr media
Callback #2: The JamieClaire-on-horseback-led convoy’s leaving Fraser’s Ridge took me back to S2E8 The Fox’s Lair and E9 Je Suis Prest. Did you notice the pecking order? 1: Colonel & Physician. 2: Captain. 3: Official Distiller. Priorities are important, during times of peace and of war.
So… Stephen Bonnet’s free from incarceration, and recently sighted in Wilmington? How far is Wilmington from Fraser’s Ridge? Does it matter almost every fit and young man, almost every weapon, and the only doctor are on the road to Brownsville, while Bonnet’s purported child and the child’s mother are back with the not-so-fit-nor-young-nor-armed men on Fraser’s Ridge? I suppose it doesn’t, since the mother herself knows Bonnet could be consulting a map and stealing a horse as we speak. I somehow doubt her husband and named father of her child would agree… if he only knew.
Callback #3: Colonel Jamie tells Captain Roger there’s no time to train the militia, so he’ll teach them to fight like Highlanders, to gather and scatter on his command. Can you say Dougal MacKenzie in S2E9 Je Suis Prest? Sure. I knew you could.
Thank goodness for Closed Captioning. Growing up immersed in Scots (language, accents, people), I rarely “huh?” during Outlander, but I have no ear for Welsh, and John Quincy Myers keeps my clicking that CC button. And his lines are so worth understanding! 😂
Tumblr media
Callback #4: The fireside banter and guy-talk, with Claire’s being the only participant without a Y chromosome, takes me back to S1E5 Rent. Good times.
We’re slowly adding to the books’ Fraser’s Ridge roster.  We already know Isaiah Morton and Ronnie Sinclair. Around the fire we meet brothers Evan and Kenny Lindsay, and Geordie Chisholm. Isaiah Morton on his way to Brownsville? What could go wrong?
Speaking of books, so much of Fireside Chat reminded me of The Fiery Cross, right down to Jamie’s not needing to worry whether his feet or his hair might burn in order to sleep “warm.” Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Say no more.
I am very impressed with Paul Gorman’s playing the Beardsley twins, and duly impressed with his characters’ appearing onscreen at the same time. Well done! BUT… the BEST part of the entire Twins Story introduction was the explanation for Keziah’s missing britches. 😻
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’re lucky, Lizzie Wemyss, I’m completely committed to Murtz, because any man who would forgo his pants to keep kittens warm is my kind of man. ❤️
I wonder if Father Fogden ever missed his mirror?
I couldn’t begin to imagine those young men’s lives. Orphaned at two, with four sisters dead at sea. Sold on a 30-year term, starved, beaten, deafened… and made to sleep in a barn that is too cold for goats.
Josiah isn’t going to avoid Claire’s scary looking medical tools for long if he keeps drawing attention to his sore throat. Owie!
More book people, People: Joan, Hugh, and Iain Òg Findlay. In The Fiery Cross Roger also meets with Iain Mòr, Joan’s brother and head of the family.
Two years, three months, and five days…
It’s probably the meds, but when Fanny Beardsley slams the door in Jamie’s face, I imagined her turning to the goats and saying, “I told ‘im we got already got one.”
Tumblr media
I’m thankful my TV’s Smell-o-Vision™ is out of order. Brianna, oh she who could not tolerate an autopsied torso, is thankful she skipped this road trip all together.
The direction, lighting, special effects, makeup, and prosthetics are excellent in this part of the episode and Mr. McCreary has outdone himself with the soundtrack. Truly a House of Horrors, Chez Beardsley.
“None of us could give him a baby.” Um, I hate to break it to you, Aaron, but I suspect it’s your problem, not any of your five wives’.
Brit Bronwyn James gives Baltimore Fanny a decent generic American accent.
Poor Jamie! He knows the pain of sending Claire back through the stones. Contemplating sending his beloved daughter and grandson, and tolerated son-in-law, is too much. 😖
Poor Fanny! To live as she has for two years, three months, and five days with that “wretch,” and awaken to see Jamie and Claire’s spooning, peacefully sleeping in her living room. I’d sneak off in the dead of night, too.
My grand-père went to Hillsborough and all I got was a wagon full of goats. 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
“I’ll do what must be done.” No foreshadowing, thank you very much. James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser has suffered enough.

Khaki  Cut from Original Cloth
Essay by Richard Martin, Preface by Elton John, Photography Editor David Fahey

Like denim jeans and white T-shirts, khakis are a neutral American classic, and the wardrobes of movie stars and middle managers all likely hold at least one pair. In the introduction to this homage to the khaki pant (although the occasional skirt or pair of shorts does appear), cowriter Richard Martin states, "In war and peace, on campus and in cities, khakis as a wardrobe element have an easy sense of versatility; they are associated with a feel-good non-style."
Over the past decade, the fashion industry has witnessed a renaissance of the classic khakis that have been the casual pant of choice of such prominent historical figures as James Dean, Albert Einstein, John F. Kennedy, and Picasso. A term derived from the Urdu or Hindi word for "dust", khaki originally referred to British uniforms invented by Lieutenant Henry Lumsden while stationed in India in 1846. Today, khaki has become synonymous with a color and style of trousers. The popularity of khakis, which now rivals that of denim jeans, has recently influenced haute couture, with such designers as Yohji Yamamoto and Chanel using khaki in their own designs.  Produced in conjunction with Dockers "RM" Khakis, Khaki: Cut from the Original Cloth is a compilation of over 100 historical and contemporary images, creating averitable photographic history of khakis. Included in this fascinating fashion retrospective are Hollywood film stills, historical snapshots, and recent fashion and celebrity images by such acclaimed photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Peter Beard, Duane Michals, Cecil Beaton, David Bailey, Peter Lindbergh, Barbara Morgan, Greg Gorman, Eve Arnold, Mary Ellen Mark, André Kertész, Weegee, Edward Weston, Bert Stern, Herb Ritts, Barbara Morgan, Linda McCartney, Robert Mapplethorpe, George Platt Lynes, Lartigue, Hurrell, Cartier-Bresson . Among the khaki enthusiasts portrayed in the photographs are Truman Capote, Che Guevara, Johnny Depp, Amelia Earhart, Chet Baker, Ernest Hemingway, Fidel Castro, and not a few Kennedys.  The broad range of images presented in this collection underscores the ubiquity of khakis in fashion for over half a century. What at first blush may seem to some readers a rather silly book is in fact a wonderfully focused record of a pop-culture trend.

Will you do nsfw head canons for Lt Gorman pretty please? 🥺
Gorman Is Your Lieutenant
Headcanon - Lt. Gorman x Fem Reader - NSFW
The following fiction contains explicit content that is not suitable for minors.
Tumblr media
AN: Omg, I love that I've gotten two different requests for NSFW Gorman fics. Gorman is so underrated (his redemption arc is one of the best I've seen) and I'm so happy to see him getting some love. Enjoy babes!
Gorman was the new lieutenant for your squad. He was very stern and serious, trying very hard to earn the respect of your fellow marines and be taken seriously.
You immediately were attracted to him. You loved a challenge.
There was hardly any speaking with Gorman at first, he was too serious. But you would notice his gaze lingering longer on you and little awkward subtleties that told you the tension was becoming mutual.
During down time, you found him going out of his way to talk to you and making intense eye contact. To your surprise, many of your fellow marines were lowkey supportive, hoping that if Gorman got laid, he might lighten the hell up.
The tension was building and Hudson especially would make fun of you for having 'a little crush' on the Lieutenant. Luckily, your fellow marines covered for you and Apone didn't suspect a thing.
One night, the tension finally broke. You're squad had been deployed to a colony in need of assistance. The mission was quick and you were all accommodated at a local hotel. While the rest of the marines were down in the bar living it up, Gorman had knocked on your door. He asked to talk to you. You agreed of course.
Gorman began to explain that he was considering asking for a transfer to a different squad, in light of the circumstances. Your heart sank in your chest. He looked to you and in that moment, you could no longer hold back, pressing your lips to his.
You could see the startled look in his eyes melt into desire. He pulled you close, running his hands around your sides and down your hips as he returned your kisses passionately.
You immediately reached for his belt and began undoing it. He moaned as he kissed you the moment you reached into his boxers and caressed him gently.
A new side of Gorman appeared, one that wanted you without thinking of consequence; a side that wanted to ravish you and fulfill his deepest desires. He pushed you onto the bed, pulling off your pants and underwear. He climbed onto the bed, kneeling between your spread legs.
He looked down at you with a smirk, pushing down his boxers to reveal his hard cock that bounced out of the material. You bit your lip as he lowered himself onto you. You could feel him pressed against your already soaked labia.
He rubbed himself against you as you continued to kiss deeply and passionately. You moaned into his mouth as his tongue explored yours.
Finally, you felt his head press against the entrance, you smiled up at him, begging him for it. It slid in and feeling it inside you had you gasping and moaning.
He started slow and gentle, but gradually transitioned to fast and rough. He leaned over you, gently placing a firm hand around your throat while he absolutely pounded you. It was a nice surprise.
You could feel yourself approaching climax as his head rammed into your g-spot. You were whimpering, begging for him to keep going.
He paused and pull out just as you were about to cum. He grinned, "Ask me for permission, private." You were surprised but couldn't deny how much you loved being dominated by him. "Please, Lieutenant, may I come?" you asked in your sweetest voice. He thrust himself back into you, fucking into you so hard and fast, you could no longer hold back your wild moans. You begged, "Please let me cum, sir. Please..." He leaned down and growled in your ear, "I like an obedient girl..." He slammed himself into your spot until you head was tilted back and your legs tightened around him. You about saw stars as the climax rocked your body, your hips bucking uncontrollably.
This pushed him over the edge and he grunted as he finished inside you. He tumbled to your side, out of breath and still stiff and twitching, his cum still dripping down his shaft. You had both finished just in time as you heard your fellow marines storming down the hall in drunken laughter.

I refuse to call the aliens xenomorphs its just a fancy way to say alien. xeno = foreign/alien morph = form so basically alien life form. I think the scene in aliens where lieutenant gorman calls the aliens xenomorphs (first time we hear it in the movies) was just to make him seem full of himself. like hes trying to sound like he knows more than he actually does. and if I have to pick a fancy general term for alien life I prefer e.b.e. anyway

Aliens Semi-Review
Well then, I was going to do an Alien Marathon, but I started quite late and the film was a little longer than I originally thought - 2hrs 43mins (163mins). Also, a film directed by James Cameron, not Ridley Scott, surprise surprise for me. However, I know James Cameron's mindset and ambition with films, so I felt the film was in good hands. Since it was my first time watching it, for a film shot in 1986, seven years after the first film (Alien - directed by Ridley Scott); I was not disappointed.
The second film did stay true to most of the original homage to the first film. The tension and the atmosphere screamed original Alien to me. Honestly, it's those scenes, not even the action ones, that had my whole body in a lock and had me holding my breath. The claustrophobic feeling was there, there's always something uncomfortable about narrow hallways or even the thought of descending a flight of narrow staircases to lower levels. In this film, there is this sense of dread of descending to the lower levels.
What I also liked, that did share a similarity was we didn't see the Xenomorphs themselves until a good 90-100 mins into the film. The first scene we see the alien, are the infamous Facehuggers latched onto the face of poor Newt's father. That child no doubt has PTSD, Ripley an obvious one, along with Hickson.
I have to say Cameron handled the action scenes well. I wouldn't say it was a shock that it went from a Sci-fi/Horror to a Sci-fi/Horror/Action. There was a nice balance of action, because you can't always rely on your guns, no matter how armed to the teeth you are. Oh, who's idea was it in the corporation to build a giant colony base that can blow up with the equivalent power of a Nuclear Bomb!? Oh yeah! Multi-billion dollar corporations. On one funny part for this sequel, I was happy the shithead cat was left behind this time, at least he was safe.
I did kind of like the team of Marines. Their banter is humorous in some way, even though they have unknowingly signed their death warrants; i.e.: three-quarters of the team slaughtered faster than I can type a paragraph of my scientific literature review. There's no denying though, facing one Xenomorph unarmed is terrifying, never mind a full nest, even if armed. I don't how Cameron and the team managed that, cause the Xenomorph in the previous film was a guy in a huge suit, and probably sweating in it. Speaking of the Xenomorphs, stealthy little feckers for their size of 8ft, even though the Facehuggers are faster. Let me just admire and marvel at the sight of the Xenomorph Queen which see at the last 20mins of the film.
Giving thumbs to the creative team, the artists and the engineers, they created the largest and most complex animatronic of its time, for 1986. That's what some of the newer films seem to lack nowadays: the art of practical effects. The Xenomorph Queen is an anamatronic sight to behold, while still being manually controlled for the more finer movements such as the legs, tail, lips and secondary mandible by puppeteers. She was an ambitious piece of art and pushing technology to its limit in a way. However, the whole Xenomorph Queen required 14-16 operaters for smooth, complete control.
When the Queen was in action chasing after Ripley and Newt, the movements were so smooth that it is hard to believe it's an anamatronic. It was a time of no CGI and no green screens. The one scene though I did find kind of funny, yet appreciating the intelligence of the Xenomorph species is when the Queen figured out to take the elevator. All I could think was, quoting Jurassic Park: "You clever girl". Yet even the Xenomorphs themselves were smart, attack the survivors from above and below. While it's nice to know Xenomorphs can be killed, there is dangers in numbers and they can outsmart you.
The cast themselves were likable, though it took me a bit of time to like some of the Marines. While the Lieutenant was useless throughout most of the movie and to add salt to the wound, was unconscious for most of it, Gorman did make it up by sacrificing himself, along with Vasquez. What's there to say about Sigourney Weaver? And yes, imagine my surprise that she worked with James Cameron again for his most expensive and CGI-advanced film Avatar in 2009. She did a brilliant reprisal in the second sequel. Thumbs up to Reiser for doing a fine job portraying the asshole Burke. Never trust corporate officials, who care about their multimillion dollar spacecrafts, stations and colony bases. Oh, insane enough wanting a Xenomorph smuggled past Quarantine to study and turn into a bioweapon? I guess that's where 'never trust corporates' trend originated from. Anyways, he got his comeuppance for his arrogance. I liked the acting from Carrie Henn who portrayed Rebecca Jorden/Newt. She worked well with Weaver, being a young child back in '86. Of course, we see another side to Ripley, being given a rare second chance to be a mother again after learning her daughter: Amanda Ripley passed away (she's a different story, since we only see her in the game Alien Isolation (2014), looking for Ripley and set 15 years after Alien; i.e.: her mother is still floating around in hypersleep. Though it was good to know her daughter wasn't sitting on her ass on Earth after Ripley failed to return in time for her 11th birthday). Lance Henrikson also done a fine job playing the Android Bishop, and being one that didn't turn hostile, because I was expecting him to.
Can we also talk about the most memorable and badass scene of the whole film? Ellen Ripley suited up in the Mech Loader versus the Xenomorph Queen. That is a pretty good scene, loved the choreography of it, the brawl was good and then we still have our classic 'shove the fucking alien out the fucking airlock'. I loved that scene and Weaver's moment of badassery.
I also want to praise James Horner (1978-2015) for composing the score. Wonderful piece of work and staying true to the Alien theme from the first film. Also, the opening score reminded me of another track I listen to that sounded familiar. RIP James Horner.
All in all, Aliens was a sequel done right and had a good few elements of the original film. I have to say, for a film of its time, there are very few space films that have me holding my breath. 1986 Aliens did that, as well 1979 Alien (and yes, the airvent scene made me jump, even though I was ready for it. I wasn't). Knowing Cameron's track record and filmography, he did a damn good job on its sequel. We just don't seem to get movies like this nowadays, which is a shame or they are becoming rare and rarer as each year passes. Sure there might be miniscule issues hidden in the film, but to me, this film is worth a 9/10 in my opinion. One of the few Sci-fi films that made me feel I didn't waste my time, never mind 120mins of it.
Whelp, onto Alien 3.
