Life is Strange powers are based off of the characters personality, Max through the game talks about how much she fucking regrets ghosting Chloe, therefore her power is to manipulate and rewind time, making her past changeable. Daniel is a kid, he's greedy and bossy because he's a kid, therefore his power to manipulate objects and people around, moving them from place to place or even killing them, getting what he desires. Alex is a people pleaser, we see that throughout the game and when we see her past, she's practically begging her father to let her help him with the money. Therefore her power is to see people's emotions and read their thoughts, giving her the ability to know what they are thinking in order to help them then help herself. Hell Rachel too (since there's a theory that she has nature like powers), Rachel is smooth and care free at first glance, but when you really get to know her you find how shit her life is, how easily she will destroy things when she's angry. Kinda like nature is wild and chaotic, it's so beautiful yet so fucking destructive.

(to me it's clear that the LIS1 writers meant for it to be one-sided on Chloe's part, even when she founds out about Rachel and Frank she doesn't act like Rachel cheated,just lied, but BTS writers leaned heavily into it being romantic and then we have the alt timeline from the comics where it is too, soo)
