Another under-discussed issue of being an older person with an £D is living with a partner. I know from my own experience that almost everyone in this space is young, living with parents, etc. but for those of us living with long term partners, things like safe foods, long fasts, drug abuse (amphetamines, laxatives, caffeine, etc.) ceases. Our partners would take issue with that. All the time i think about how if i didnt have a partner (who i love very much and would be devastated to lose or lack) I could have such lower calorie foods in my house. Cook lower calorie meals. But you can’t do that either because you dont want to starve your partner. Idk it sucks.

i think the biggest thing you need to build is impulse control. like in everyday relationships if you impulsive say something to someone without taking a step back and thinking you end up in a situation where both are upset. it’s the same with food, but in this instance your only angry at yourself for not controlling your impulses. i can’t give solutions on how to do this but i did this by everytime i had impulsive to eat something, i took a step back and thought of is this worth the progress or the progress im going to make.
