Thought this quote from Lisa could be helpful for some people- Simon did try to adjust to the monarchy (even though he shouldn't have had to, but for the crowd that thinks Simon didn't "understand" Wille's pressure), but the problem wasn't Simon. Simon could have done everything, but the problem was with Wille and his family. It was a situation that wasn't working, Simon wasn't getting the support he needed within the relationship, and Wille's issues weren't about Simon, it was his parents and the monarchy as an institution. That breakup needed to happen for them to come back together.

in the grand scheme of things, it’s kind of a bit ‘on the nose’ to have written an entire trilogy about the evils of despotic authority and lack of democratic accountability, where the central message is that somehow love can overcome tyranny, but it’s also not-so-secretly a marxist show, and then to have one of your parting messages to the adoring, besotted fans be that "They are in charge" and you couldn’t do anything about the lack of s3 promo content from the NN overlords. Art mirroring Life, Life mirroring Art, the whole thing is a hall of mirrors, i need to lie down

L.A.: These sort of pleasantries in the conversations between Wilhelm and Simon come back in many scenes, and you know what? It is surprising because that’s actually how it’s supposed to be. It’s about two people checking on each other’s feelings, and no one is trying to dominate the other, take advantage, pursuing an interest or a craving. It’s about creating a connection, tuning into each other feelings, and seeing how things evolve from there.
Lisa: It’s interesting because usually, you use the tension between characters in build up the story, and then you have to use every opportunity to display those struggles. Between Simon and Wilhelm, we worked so much on building a positive balance and taking any power factor away. You can see how the various, ‘how do you feel?[s]’ come mainly from Simon and from a script point of view; it’s about him giving Wilhelm an opportunity to answer that question while being honest. He gives him space to reflect and articulate his feelings rather than constantly thinking about how he should behave and what is expected from him. We wanted to show another kind of relationship between two boys who fall in love with each other without sexualising it or exploiting it to create drama. There are many nuances between Simon and Wilhelm, but obviously, there is no manipulation, no power games, no using one another. Each struggle with their inner demons and the world there are in, but it’s not a struggle between them. In the emotional space they built together, they are equals, and they give each other the chance to exist beyond forms.
It’s all about a genuine feeling and how you protect this feeling. There’s a lot of discussion about that end scene when he says, “I hope you have a nice Christmas”. It’s the most devastating line… Many asked why he didn’t reply; “I love you back?” But he had already proved it; his actions already said it. He cannot say it because he will diminish his heart if he does. He’s in a place of awareness, and there’s not much he can say or do.

I was rewatching a live Lisa did after season 1 came out(https://www.instagram.com/tv/CSKjL0EjE-T/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=  at when there is about 5 minutes left), where she mentions she while she feels that Linda is loving, she’s far from the perfect parent. And obviously while I get why the fandom loves Linda especially when we compare her to Kristina who is much more cold, it was so interesting to see how Lisa wrote the character. She basically mentioned that Linda is not active enough(for example, how she just lets Simon take the blame and brunt of it when Micke shows up to Hillerska instead of telling Micke to leave, how she lets Simon go and handle Sara when Sara says she’s going to apply to be a resident at Hillerska), and it gave such light to Simon and Sara’s characters and their family dynamic. We always talk about how Simon is a caretaker and how he steps up for the family- well maybe that stems from it being necessary for someone in the family to be the protector. Even when we look at the way Sara has resentment for Linda and how she couldn’t protect them from Micke- maybe that stems from how Linda didn’t do enough when Micke was being a problem. It would be so cool to see that examined more in season 2- while many view Simon’s family as great, and while Linda is caring which is a great trait to have as a mom, it might not be as supportive or healthy for Simon and Sara as many people seem to think. It might have left Simon and Sara too vulnerable to problems. Lisa specifically used the word “codependent.” this show y’all,,,,the nuance

I did it. I finally caved and emailed [email protected] thinking maybe, MAYBE, there would be a fun automated answer related to the show. I am sorry to share that I didn't get an immediate reply. I didn't get an error message, though, so who knows, someone might monitor it and do something fun!

Freedom, drafted
If you’re interested in the relationships between Sara and Simon & between Wille and Sara, & the aftermath of trauma & loss, & aged-up devoted to each other but life does get real sometimes Wilmon, & people unexpectedly turning into writers, i have written a story about all that & more. Please check the tags.
It's ten years since that tumultuous year at Hillerska that changed everyone's lives. Simon has just found out that Wille has been keeping a secret from him. The secret is something Wille desperately wants to give Simon, but he can't. Only Sara can. The truth is shattering, but once they get there, it might heal them and make them all stronger. "There is a kind of held that means being free. And there is another kind of held that is hell. The trick is getting the chance to learn the difference." A story about grieving and repairing. A story about being seen, being misunderstood, being forgiven, and being loved all the same. A story about the stories we tell.
Thank you to @bluedalahorse for beta and @stretchoutfics for ideas and encouragement. And to all the fanfic writers. The work is finished, btw, it's in edit.
Related. "i'll just watch this teen drama someone recommended. Seems okay." Nearly 2 years of brain rot later "Here i am pulling out my hair writing actual fiction for the first time in my life because i cannot escape these characters or this story".

ALSO!!!!!!
I'm sure this has been pointed out by people smarter than me but I've only been here for a little bit and-
queen Kristina. was an actual Swedish queen in the 1600s, right, I think that's been known. this is her btw:
Tumblr media
She brought the state to the verge of bankruptcy, decided not to marry (the scandal!) and converted to Catholicism (more scandal!), occasionally dressed masculine (*gasp*), and finally relinquished the throne to her cousin. In the words of Pope Alexander VII: "a queen without a realm, a Christian without faith, and a woman without shame".
Truly, an icon, but I was looking at her family tree because I'm gonna write a queen Kristina!POV fic entirely randomly, and do you know what her cousin is called? The one she gave the throne to?
Carl
Gustav
What's YR!Kristina's cousin called?
