the writer(s) of one of the guidebook things for the dc ttrpg has parallax hal somehow having his memory completely wiped & being blasted back in time at the end of Zero Hour to the direct aftermath of coast city's destruction where he wanders around the ruins helping people with his still-very-much-intact crazy parallax godpowers until the DEO catches wind of him, tracks him down, recruits him, and turns amnesiac parallax into a top DEO agent who spends the next few years running around doing a bunch of spy shit right under all his old friends' & colleagues' noses without anyone ever noticing.... and this all happens in the random little flavor text sidebars that like 90% of people (of the 1% who will ever bother to pick the book up in the first place lol) will probably just skip over
what the fuck. this is easily top 10 the hottest concepts i've ever seen. why is it squirreled away in the most obscure possible location outside of scrawling it on a cave wall somewhere in the french countryside. i have never wanted to read a 200k+ word fic so bad in my entire life

T.I.P. - Pt.5
There was a suspicious location. The team had put making a raid there on hold because Jazz and Val were convinced it was a set up. They’d been right, but Danny confirmed that too late. He had decided to scout alone. What he found was worth it, at least momentarily. This location wasn’t a DEO one that might have ghosts. It was GIW and definitely had them. Ghosts he knew.
Ember was trapped in a separate location and Skulker had been informed that she (and maybe everyone else) would go free if he caught and turned over his least favorite welp. Unfortunately, Danny’s plans didn’t include time to get into a fight people this time. They also didn’t include Skulker's suit being available to be used against him after winning said fight. This time Danny got all the cages opened, but not everyone made it home safe.
Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Batman all showed up just as Danny souped Skulker. He tossed the thermos through the portal to keep him out of their hands and it closed only a moment before Flash could cross over. Between Danny busting open cages Skulker had gotten in a few good hits and he would need to heal up first to create another portal but that didn’t matter because Wonder Woman lasso-ed him before he could fly off. This time it was she and Flash keeping him busy while Cyborg and Batman worked. Cyborg had noticed Skulker’s abandoned suit and Batman brought restraints prepared by the DEO. Danny didn’t get away.
With a weapon that could hurt him, a magical item that could restrain him, and no back up he decided to surrender. Secrets (Not Greta. They had a mind reader.) was much healthier and had picked up most of his tricks by now. They had also gotten almost all of the above ground bases so it wouldn’t be too hard for the team to disappear and continue without him. This had been a possibility Danny knew was a long time coming. Hopefully the team would make the smart choice not to try breaking him out right away either. He could survive a lot more than most.
Masterpost
AN: IDK how to write a fight so I'm not as confident about this part. I ended up lowkey skipping past most of it. Skulker's arm might not have been immediately usable as a weapon, but Danny figured Cyborg would figure it out fast enough. Thoughts appreciated and sorry that it's posted later that I have been!

Hiiii! So, since it's allowed to send some requests in..I have an angsty one (I think i mentioned it months ago) 😁 Alex Danvers x reader. They are childhood sweethearts, now happily married, reader is not part of the DEO tho she knows everything. Somehow, another Alex from different Earth comes through a portal, having lost her own wife. She is kinda mean though. She temporarily disables "our Alex" and kidnaps reader, taking her to her Earth, leaving the Superfriends look for them in order to bring reader back. - happily ever after or not, I'd leave it up to you 😁 thank you! 😊

The day was filled with a rare clarity as Kara flew her way through the lush landscape. The villa, an architectural masterpiece of bygone times, sat majestically on a hill, surrounded by a lush garden framed by magnificent trees. The last rays of sunshine of the day bathed the scene in a golden light as the blonde took in the silence and atmosphere of the nature around her.
You outdid yourself in choosing the location for celebrating your fifth wedding anniversary with Alex. The old, vine-covered, red-brick house with its large, bordered green park was glorious in the summertime and brought out the bright colors you have carried in your heart from the day you met the redhead.
A gentle wind blew through the treetops, carrying with it the quiet hum of birds. Kara arrived on the ground and immediately climbed the stone steps to the entrance, where the massive doors stood wide open, welcoming her warmly. A faint hint of nostalgia hung in the air in the spacious entrance hall. Antique furnishings filled the room, from silver-plated mirrors to a grand, curved staircase that led elegantly to the upper floors.
A soft murmur and the quiet clatter of tools came from outside. She followed the sound and found herself on a balcony. The vantage point offered a breathtaking view of the garden and surrounding countryside. Down there, the workers spread all over the white gravel road and seemed busy as they were making some arrangements and put the finishing touches to the decorations.
The hammering and knocking mingled with the humming of the bees buzzing around in the garden's blossoms. Elegant tables and chairs were arranged, garlands were artfully draped and bright, yellowish lights were placed in the trees. It was as if the place itself was preparing to have an unforgettable evening filled with people you both loved.
Kara leaned against the railing of the balcony and watched the hustle and bustle below her. It was impressive how each move seemed perfectly coordinated with the next. It was clear that you worked for your anniversary with a passion for detail and beauty.
The blonde could not be present at the preparations for your wedding, she was busy saving the city from a dangerous alien. But this time she enjoyed it much more intensively, knowing that both her sister and you could not be happier than at this point in time. The people her sister had dated were nice but could never compare to you. You brought forth something in the eldest Danvers that no one had done before.
In the midst of all this hectic activity and her deep thoughts, you suddenly appeared behind her, a bright smile on your lips, your hair slightly disheveled from work. She could tell right away that you wore a smile that was full of anticipation and mystery. "Kara!"
“Y/n, it looks really spectacular. Alex will be thrilled." The blonde exclaimed with a mixture of excitement and relief, walking the last steps that separated the two of you to wrap you in a tight hug. After a while, you separated yourself from her and stepped next to her closer to the edge of the balcony. You nodded vigorously, unable to take off your wide grin. "I hope so. I have all of her favorite things here, and the guest list is also full of all our friends and family. It's going to be an evening full of joy and memories.“
Kara gently placed an arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to her. "Believe me, she'll love it," with a kiss on your temple, you rested your head on her shoulder and joined her in surveying the final preparations that were being completed, ready to reveal the secret of the evening and mark the beginning of an unforgettable fifth anniversary.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The sunlight slowly dipped towards the horizon and the first stars began to twinkle lightly in the sky. Kara´s bedroom glowed with a warm light coming from the numerous candles on the surfaces of her furniture and the fireplace. A soft scent of vanilla and red roses hung in the air as you eagerly prepared to head off to your own anniversary party with Alex. Kara had suggested that you get ready at her place so that Alex wouldn't see you beforehand. After all, everything should be a surprise - including what you wore.
In her bedroom, a happy melody floated through the atmosphere as you stood in front of the large mirror. Your dress, an elegant, long evening gown in a shimmering burgundy red, hung on the door behind you. With a hint of excitement in your eyes, you gave yourself a smile in the mirror as you began your makeup.
The sounds of jazz music came from your phone, where the playlist for the evening was already rehearsing. The memories of five years of ups and downs flowed through your mind, and a warm feeling of gratitude spread through your heart before you prepared to sit at the dressing table, surrounded by a fine selection of lipsticks, eye shadows and perfumes.
You opened a bottle of your favorite scent, which even the redhead found hard to resist, and let the floral scent fill the air. The sparkling silver earrings Alex gave you for your first wedding anniversary were waiting on the table to be put on.
As you were applying your makeup, you suddenly felt a strange energy flowing through the room and heard a soft, magical hum. With a brush in your hand, you walked confusedly towards the door that separated you from what was happening in the anteroom. “Kara?” you asked, unsure about your sister-in-law, not actually expecting her here at this time. The blonde had promised you that she would look after the location while you got ready. “Is everything okay? I thought you wanted to-"
As you poked your head through the crack, you saw a glowing portal open in the middle of the room. Out of the shimmering light emerged a figure that seemed familiar at first glance. It wasn't until you took a second look that you saw Alex, appearing in a swirl of colors and sparks. "Babe, are you okay? I thought you were on your way to Sam," you asked with a mixture of fear and surprise, narrowing your eyes as you looked at her closely. The clothes she wore were strange and definitely not something she ever seemed to wear. The redhead seemed worn out and there was no love or happiness shining in her eyes like it used to. Just a dark shadow, while the features of her face seemed unnaturally hard.
"Y/n," she spoke in a voice that cut icy through the night and sent a shiver down your spine. She walked towards you with slow steps and a mischievous grin and you immediately sensed that something was wrong. "You have to come with me. Right now."
You took a step back, gripped by an inexplicable unease. You stared at the person who was acting differently than your partner, feeling a strange feeling arise within you as she continued to walk towards you with slow and dangerous steps. "Why? Where do you want to take me? And who are you anyway?"
Alex twisted her face into a mocking smile and snorted contemptuously. "I'm your wife, silly. Just from another dimension. My wife is lost forever and now I'm here to take you with me." she spoke delicately, a devilish smile slipping across her black painted lips. Her hand placed itself on your shoulder and gently moved down until she reached your wrist and gripped it painfully. You winced, squeezing your eyes shut as you tried to suppress the flash of pain in your forearm. "You can't just show up here and expect me to come with you. You're a stranger."
She glared at you with reddish, shiny eyes, that sent shivers down your spine. Her grip on your wrist tightened, her cold fingers wrapping around your bare skin. She was angry. Very angry, but you could see a hint of sadness in her icy eyes. And despite the unpleasant situation, you felt a mixture of sympathy and irritation. "I may be able to help you, but not if you treat me like this. I'm sorry you lost your wife but I won't go with you. My Alex is here and I won't leave her.“
"But I am stronger, smarter and more determined while your Alex is weak and naive. You would be better off with me than with anyone else who only shares their physical resemblance with me." With a quick movement she raised her hand and released a beam of crimson energy at you. "You will follow me whether you want to or not. In my world there are possibilities that you cannot even imagine."
Without waiting for an answer, she violently pulled you through the portal. Reality blurred and a light briefly blinded you. As the veil lifted, you stumbled through the swirl of color, dazed and with a sharp pain in your head.
"What have you done?" You whispered, staggering and trying to focus on your surroundings. Disoriented and irritated, you looked at the dark, distorted version of National City as you knew it. Dark Alex, as you had already called her in your head, smiled triumphantly and looked down at you as you got on all fours, still trying to free yourself from the spinning dizziness that was taking over you. "Welcome to my world, my darling. Here we will see how strong you really are and whether you can do justice as my wife."
You felt trapped in a strange, hostile and cold dimension. Ignorance of what was going on and burning concern for your real wife led to a mixture of fear and determination. But what you didn't know was that your real Alex, left on her own Earth, was locked in a box somewhere far away from the city, temporarily switched off by unconsciousness and magical chains that rendered her unable to move even the slightest.
You knew that a battle would begin to rage between dimensions to determine your whereabouts.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The festively decorated hall was filled with a lively murmur and the clinking of champagne glasses as Kara, the Superfriends, and other guests excitedly waited for you and Alex. The room glowed with a warm light in the darkness of the evening as the candles flickered on the tables and soft melodies floated through the air.
The blonde, in an elegant dress, walked nervously through the crowd, her super ears alert to every noise, while Lena, Winn and Sam stood at the entrance of the hall, looking for you. The anticipation in the air gradually faded as the minutes passed and neither of you showed up. "It's unusual for these two to be so late," said Winn, looking worriedly at his watch and swaying nervously on his feet.
Lena frowned her brow in worry. She also found it strange. You were particularly punctual in everything else you did. "I tried calling y/n but it only goes to voicemail. Maybe they're late or stuck in traffic? I really hope everything is okay."
The mood among the guests became increasingly nervous as more time passed and the two of you still didn't show up. Kara felt a vague unrest inside her, as if something had gone terribly wrong. She decided to investigate the situation and set out to look for her sister and sister-in-law.
In the meantime, a tense silence filled the hall. The guests whispered worriedly to each other as the music in the background grew quieter and quieter. Lena, Winn, Sam and J'onn tried in vain to call any of you, but all attempts to contact failed.
Finally Kara returned, her face expressionless. The tension between the superfriends was palpable as the blonde walked sternly towards them and addressed the concerned guests. "I couldn't find her. Alex isn't home and y/n isn't in my apartment. However, her dress is still hanging untouched in my bedroom and-" she paused for a moment, pulling a small electronic device out of her jacket pocket. "This is y/n's cell phone. The music was still playing on it when I got to my apartment but she wasn't there. Something is wrong."
A hint of unease crossed the crew's faces. The anniversary celebration, which was planned to be full of joy and celebration, turned into a worrying situation of waiting and uncertainty. "What do we do now?" Sam asked questioningly.
"We have to find out what happened. I'm going to work with J'onn and fly to the DEO. Maybe we can find something out there," she replied with a firm look on her face, the growing concern for the both of you only increasing. "Winn and Lena, can you please go to my apartment and see if you can spot any alien activity?"
The Superfriends nodded solemnly as Kara headed off with J'onn to take action. The once happy atmosphere of the day was tinged with worry and anxiety as everyone hoped that you and Alex would return safely to celebrate your anniversary.
The night fell like a dark cloak over National City as Supergirl flew through the streets with a worried look in her eyes. Her super senses were at their peak as she searched for signs of her sister. The unsettling thought that something was wrong made her heart beat faster by the minute.
On a quiet side street, a faint sign of life pierced her super ears. Supergirl slowed her trajectory to locate the source of the sound, her X-ray ability sweeping over the abandoned factory before breaking through the light metal garage door. In a flash she landed next to a dark box, ripping the lid off the nails, seeing her sister lying there with iron chains and a purple aura surrounding her. "Alex.."
Her hands shot out to check the redhead's pulse. The heartbeat was slow, almost imperceptible. She immediately contacted J'onn and the DEO through the comms she had set up before her flight. But the chains made it much more difficult for her to bring the young agent to the DEO. The metal magically burned through her skin upon contact. She had to hurry up. "J'onn, I found Alex. She is unconscious and her heartbeat is extremely weak. I am taking her to the medical department immediately."
Meanwhile, Winn and Lena were already in Kara's apartment, looking for clues to your whereabouts. The room was in pristine condition, but the sight of your abandoned dress on the bedroom door worried the two of them. Lena held it carefully between her fingers and examined it as Winn used the DEO's technology to search for alien activity in the area.
The two continued searching the blonde's apartment when suddenly Winn's detectors picked up on some unusual, changing air. They looked at each other as they noticed that the particle sensors in the air were revealing their presence in the apartment. "I knew something was wrong. She would never abandon us without a reason. Especially not Alex."
"That's strange," Winn muttered, pointing to the display on his monitor as he rapidly typed something on the keyboard. "There are some alternate dimension particles in the air here. That suggests a portal was recently opened here. Lena frowned. "A portal? Here? But how is that possible?"
Winn re-examined the readings and discovered some kind of energetic pattern in the room. "It looks like a portal was active here, but it's been closed. It seems like y/n went through a portal."
"But why? And who could be responsible for it? After all, she has no ability to open such a portal," the black-haired woman speculated and Winn looked up. "Good questions that unfortunately we can only get answers from y/n."
As the two desperately tried to search for answers, uncertainty hung over them. A mystery seemed to be unfolding, and those who knew you best sensed that something big was afoot. They stayed in the apartment with the feeling that a strange, mysterious world had forced its way into their lives and taken one of them with it. The magic of the portal and the unsolved mysteries about your stay hung like a shadow over the two of them.
Meanwhile, Supergirl had arrived at the DEO with Alex. The doctors immediately took over medical care while Supergirl waited nervously nearby. J'onn walked up, his eyes worrying. "What do you think happened?"
"I don't know. But what I know is that something serious must have happened,“ she said with a sigh. Her shaky and slightly sweaty hand cupped her forehead and laboriously brushed away the wrinkles that appeared as she frowned. "Have Winn and Lena at least found out something about my sister-in-law yet?"
"Yes, they did. And you won't like it," he replied, putting his hands on his hips. He watched the expression on her face, the panic that overtook her, even if she didn't want to show it on the outside. "They found particles that Winn was able to trace back to a portal."
As the Martian continued to show her more details about the discoveries in her own apartment, the redhead slowly began to regain consciousness when the DEO's resources were used to successfully remove the iron chains from her. She struggled to sit up in bed against the doctors' wishes, still very dizzy. "What happened?" Alex murmured, her memories slowly returning. She was able to piece together some fragments of her memories, but she hoped for a complete answer, which she still lacked. She held her head, which hurt badly from the attack and her attempted self-defense.
"You were found unconscious. We don't know exactly what happened, but we're looking for y/n. She's missing," Kara explained to her, gently stroking her disheveled hair.
She looked at her sister with wide eyes, fear and terror crossing her face. Her pupils dilated rapidly, making her eyes appear darker, as she tried to rip the vein access and electrocardiogram from her body. Kara stopped her. "There was someone who came into our apartment through a portal just as I was getting ready."
Supergirl and J'onn perked up their ears. "Who was it?"
"She looked exactly like me. She threatened to take my wife away. After that there was a fight, she overpowered me and then..." she stopped talking, knowing what happened next. Alex from another dimension had carried out her threats.
Kara nodded slowly, slowly pushing her sister back into bed. She promised to bring her sister-in-law back safely into Alex's arms while the redhead rested from the attack. After all, she had been attacked with an energy that did not exist on this world and could produce side effects that did not come from earth.
As the mystery of your disappearance deepened and unraveled, Winn and Lena continued to work with the DEO to trace the portal particles and alien activity. J'onn mobilized all of the DEO's resources to find out which dimension was responsible, while his best agent and your friends remained in the dark, not knowing where a family member had disappeared to.

Kara knew it was going to be a long day the moment her sister called her at 5 am, and asked her to help with a rampaging alien in town. She kissed her girlfriend softly on the forehead and teared herself out of bed, put on her suit and jumped into National City's sky.
It was well after 8 when Kara finished dealing with the aftermath, stopping to help the firefighters to take control of the area and clear out any debris. She made it to her office at eight twenty five, after a quick stop to shower at home, only five minutes short of her meeting with Cat. She shot Lena a quick message to reassure her she was okay, promising to make it to lunch and went in to greet Cat.
The meeting stretched longer than she liked. She started daydreaming about lunch with Lena and considered surprising her with some flowers just because, when her phone rang again with Alex emergency ringtone for the second time that day. Cat waved at her dismissively, telling her to "go save the day." Kara flashed her an apologetic smile and left.
She's only been to the new DEO a handful of times after she stepped back from most of her Supergirl duties. It was quite similar to the previous one, if only the Med bay had better access and less glass doors. J'onn and Alex were already near the big screen, styling the schematics of an old warehouse.
"What's up Alex?" She asked, making herself known to the group.
"It's about the attack from this morning." Alex said.
"Did he escape?"
"No, apparently this guy was a distraction. While you were fighting with him, there was a massive break in inside a large warehouse belonging to Lord industries. They were working on a special energy source that was far from market ready, which means it's highly dangerous." Alex used her serious tone, meaning things were worse than it seemed.
"If it was a distraction, did you try to interrogate the attacker from this morning?"
"That's the other thing," J'onn crossed his arms, his brow furrowed. "We identified him as a G'newtian, a very peaceful species that is more likely to give up than even attempt a fight."
"Then, why..?"
"We found traces of toxin in his blood," J'onn continued.
"He'd been dragged?"
"Most likely," He nodded. "We're working on an antidote, hopefully we'll be able to break him out of it soon."
"We are currently trying to locate him by searching for the energy signature, But we–"
"Director Danvers!" One of the agents cut her off. "We received a message that there's another attack near the pier."
"I'll take care of it," Kara announced. "You focus on the next heist."
"Alright, stay safe. We'll update you once the antidote is ready." Alex said and Kara flew out.
It was another G'newtian that greeted her at the pier, raging terror and destroying everything in sight. She did her best to hold him back, prioritising keeping civilians safe over taking him down. Nia joined in part way through the fight, using her dream energy shield to protect who she could. Kara didn't want to cause the poor soul any more damage than necessary, he was as much of a victim there as the rest of the people around then, if not more. When an agent told her the antidote was ready, she made a quick trip to the DEO balcony, leaving the young mother to make sure everyone was safe, took the antidote from the agent, and came back to swiftly stick it to his upper arm. It took a few seconds, but the G'newtian passed out motionless on the ground, ending the fight with minimal damage.
Kara just made it to the DEO with the G'newtian to let him recover, when Alex strode in, face furrowed and emanating pure frustration.
"I guess you didn't catch them?" Kara guessed, using a lighter voice to hopefully alleviate some of the tension. It didn't seem to work."What did they steal this time?"
"Power plant, they took the new L.L foundation's emergency energy capsule." Alex pulled up the schematic on the screen.
"They already have enough power to level the entire city with this thing." J'onn pointed out.
"You think they're building a bomb?" Alex inquired.
"There's a good chance for that." J'onn nodded.
Kara took a step back and let them continue the investigation as she checked her phone. It was well past lunch time, she quickly opened Lena's conversation to apologise, finding there a few messages asking her to be safe with little red hearts. She smiled to herself and pressed the call button.
"Kara! Are you okay?" Lena asked before she could even say hello.
"Yes, I'm more than fine," she tried to reassure her.
"Are you sure? Is there more going on? Do you need help?"
"I promise we got it under control, and if we need help, Alex will call you immediately."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, It's probably just another alien. I defeated many before."
"I know many aliens that are not 'just'."
"Oh, yeah? Anyone in particular?" Kara was grateful to break the tension with some light flirting.
"I wouldn't call you 'just'."
"What am I if I'm not 'just an alien'?"
There was a small beat of silence. "You're a gift from the stars, Kara."
Kara was left speechless, she wasn't ready for this kind of statement. Warm feelings spread throughout her body, giving her the energy she needed after everything she went through that day.
"Promise me you'll be safe, alright? We need you safe."
Kara nodded to herself and swallowed hard. "I promise."
"I love you."
"I love you, too

Chapter 3 | Acta deos numquam mortalia fallunt
“Mortal actions never deceive the gods”
18+ fic, minors do not interact!
Chapter summary: You and Aegon are in a room together, what could possibly go wrong?
Chapter warnings/tags: Use of the word ‘queer’ (used as strange, weird, etc (I swear i’m not homophobic, i love women pls)), ghosts, family drama, mentions of murders and death, Aemond does NOT know how to talk to women, targaryen slander (reader is such a hater lol), canon typical mentions of incest, millipedes
if any of these things are not to your liking/ are triggering i recommend not to read it! Word count: 3.9k
[A/N]: I’m so sorry this came out later than I promised. Last week was really hectic but fortunately I have less classes this week. Today I read ‘The Yellow Wall-Paper’ by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and that definitely inspired the long notebook part in this chapter. Let me know what you guys think about the notebook parts by the way, should I keep them shorter or is this fine too? This might not be the best chapter I have written but it has given me loads of inspiration for what is next in the story.
Anyway, if you have the chance, definitely read ‘The Yellow Wall-Paper because I absolutely loved it!! I hope you enjoy this chapter :)
Rigor Mortis Masterlist | Main Masterlist
“What the-”
Aegon quickly shushed you again by forcing his hand over your mouth again. Ser Criston’s footsteps could be heard passing the room and slowly but surely faded away. Aegon removed his hand off your face and scowled.
“Can you be any louder?”
“What?”
“You’re absolutely horrible at sneaking around my lady. I mean that with offence.”
Gods, he was strange. You tried to catch your breath for a few seconds and studied him in silence. He was still in his day clothes, but he had taken off the striped light green vest he wore in the morning. You were right, he looked sickly regardless of the colours he wore. His silver blonde hair was dishevelled and the bitter stench of alcohol seemed to permanently cling to his body.
“Do you even realise how improper it is to take hold of me like that-” Aegon started groaning in frustration mid-way through your sentence. He pulled his hand over his face as he did and waved you off with his other hand.
“You are a real pain in the ass-” “Excuse me?! You’re the one pulling a lady into a strange, vacant room! I am already engaged to someone-” “I beg you. Please, shut up.”
Aegon walked- more like stumbled- over to a cloth covered chair and sat down, pinching the bridge of his nose as he shook his head.
“You are too curious for your own good. I am saying this out of genuine concern, mind your business.”
His words were harsh but he genuinely seemed to be looking out for you in his own strange, Aegon-way. His answers to your questions always seemed to spark more curiosity and confusion within you. A silence fell between the two of you until you finally realised how inappropriately you were dressed. He seemed to notice your discomfort and a playful grin tugged at the corners of his rosy lips.
“Do not worry. I have seen women in less clothes and I do not desire you. There is no denying you are beautiful, of course. However, you are simply not the type of lady I am attracted to, besides, my dear brother would have my head if I ever tried to pursue you.”
He wasn’t wrong about that. Aemond seemed pretty protective over you, even if the two of you were still barely acquaintances.
“Why are you helping me?”
Aegon remained quiet for a few seconds and shrugged.
“It doesn’t matter.”
Queer
You decided to drop it for now and looked around the abandoned room. You were about to ask a question again but Aegon groaned loudly in frustration.
“I swear this damned wench.” He muttered, clearly irritated by…nothing?
“What are you-”
He shushed you.
“Listen.” He said and pointed with his finger to the ceiling. Was he talking about the floor above this? If you remember correctly, that was where Lord Viserys’ hallway was located.
A wail..
If you concentrated really hard you could hear the wailing and screaming of a woman. It was still too quiet to properly hear it but it still managed to send chills down your spine.
No one was allowed in there and you doubted the wailing came from Lord Viserys.
It was only slightly but the wailing seemed to get a teeny, tiny bit louder every second. You turned your gaze back at Aegon who was picking dirt from under his nails with an annoyed expression.
“Who is-”
“Father’s first wife.”
Aegon replied with a sigh and his violet eyes turned to meet yours. You seriously wished he would simply stop saying the most confusing and out of pocket sentences like it was nothing. Viserys’ first wife? Would that be Rhaenyra’s mother, or did Viserys have dozens of other wives?
You hadn’t heard anyone talking about the Lord’s first wife still living at the estate. Gods, they didn’t lock her up, right?
“Why is she crying?” What a stupid question. You were sure you would cry even louder if Aemond locked you up.
Still, you couldn’t shake off this uncanny feeling. In no situation this was normal. For starters, the crying was barely comprehensible to your ears, but Aegon had complained that morning about her wailing so loud he couldn’t sleep.
Aegon didn’t reply as he studied you in silence.
“What has Aemond told you about this family?”
Aegon reached into the pockets of his black trousers and pulled out an equally black tobacco pipe. He took out a small tin container from his other pocket and filled the pipe with the brown substance you could only assume was tobacco. He placed the pipe between his lips and stood up from the cloth covered chair and walked up to an old drawer. He pulled out a box of matches and started to light his pipe. He took the lit match and brought it close to the tobacco, but not close enough to completely lit it. From what you could see he only charred the top and then extinguished the match by waving it up and down. Smoke came from his pipe and mouth and he sat back down.
“Well?”
“He’s told me about Rhaenyra’s inheritance and the uhm…inbreeding.” You awkwardly replied. Aegon groaned and shook his head in response.
“How romantic of him.”
“Right…”
Another silence fell between the two of you. It was very clear that neither of you were skilled at socialising with someone that was practically a stranger. The woman’s wailing was getting a little louder again, snapping you out of your thoughts. Before you could even ask about the women Aegon spoke again.
“Rhaenyra’s mother died in childbirth.”
“But I can hear her.”
Aegon silently stared at you, letting you figure out everything yourself. He was dead serious when he told you about the death of Rhaenyra’s mother.
Reality was finally hitting you.
No.
No.
No.
He was lying. He had to be. He must be trying to scare you away, or trying to make a fool out of you in front of the family. It had to be. It had to be.
Perhaps he was trying to make you seem mad. Was he trying to send you away? It couldn’t be Rhaenyra’s mother if she was dead. It couldn’t be.
You were spiralling into all these different thoughts. Aegon was lying. He was. There was no other way. Ghosts, spirits, ghouls and- whatever! They didn’t exist. It was only a trick of the mind. Perhaps an evil cook is drugging them all and it is just a shared hallucination. Your brother had told you about them. How your father’s employees believed the factory was haunted by a tall shadow-y figure that lurked in the corners after sunset. It was the toxic fumes. Benjamen said so.
“You’re lying.”
Your voice was trembling. You didn’t know if it was from frustration or paranoia, perhaps it was from both. You turned around to leave. You couldn’t care less if Criston found out it was you who was listening in on his conversation with Alicent.
“I am not finished yet-” Aegon took hold of your wrist, pulling you close to him. He held his pipe in his free hand as he intensely stared into your eyes.
“If you are smart, which I know you are, you leave this godforsaken place.” He hissed in frustration.
“Write to your father, write that you want to leave. Mother is too desperate to continue the bloodline to see how incredibly stupid this arrangement is. Helaena told you to leave and now I am telling you to leave. Trust us.”
Helaena had told you to leave….of course, the flowers.
She had been looking out for you even before you arrived at the castle.
“I can’t just leave. What about Aemond, the dowry or the wedding.”
“Not worth it.”
Gods, this man was unbelievable.
“I can’t just leave. It is my obligation to marry Aemond and I intend to do so. Your ghost stories are not going to scare me away.”
You managed to wrangle your wrist from his iron grip and rubbed where he had held you. It stung a little but fortunately for you, it didn’t hurt. All you wanted to do was leave this strange room and get away from Aegon.
“Sleep well, my lord.”
You made your way out the room and closed the door behind you. As you did so, your eyes fell onto the gold inscribed name plate on the door and then it finally hit you.
You had been in the room of Daeron Targaryen, and it seemed like he didn't live here any more.

- Night, the seventh day (the church bells just rang twelve times),  first month of the year 1871 -
This day was peculiar to say the least. After the first days my hopes were high when I first arrived but I fear this family is more queer than I initially anticipated. Everyone is strangely secretive about the murders and their knowledge of the culprits, even though I am to be part of their family soon.
Of course, I cannot ignore their history of inbreeding either. Sure, it might’ve happened about a hundred years ago but I still find that to be quite recent. If madness doesn’t bring this family it sure will be the fighting amongst each other. An isolated father whose eldest child lives far away from her half-siblings and a second wife that claims said eldest child’s children are bastards is a recipe for disaster.
As far as I know two out of four children of Lord Viserys are mad. Aegon, the eldest son, is trying to scare me away with ghost stories and has absolutely no manners. He does as he pleases, like dragging proper ladies into vacant rooms. Sure, it might’ve been to save me from Ser Criston, which, by the way, is an outdated title. It should be ‘Sir Criston’, apparently inbreeding isn’t the only outdated tradition they live by. I am trailing off. Aegon dragged me into the room to save me from Ser Criston, quite a creepy room might I add. It seems that this Daeron Targaryen doesn’t live in the Red Keep anymore judging by the white sheets carefully thrown over the furniture.
Right, I was talking about the ‘mad ones’. Helaena, the youngest daughter, the third child, has a real screw loose. She is quiet, mumbles to herself like there is no one else in the room and says the most cryptic things I have ever heard. At breakfast she told me:
“Shadows need the light to exist but roam freely in the darkness.”
She could be reciting poetry but I just know there is a meaning to it. She said right before Otto Hightower (the sanest person in this entire family so far) announced the body of the monthly murder had been found. I theorise there might be some criminal gang that murder the civilians of King’s Landing at night…the servants also spoke of Tayla (this month’s victim and apparently a handmaiden of Lady Alicent). They said she went out at night, so I believe this culprit doesn’t have a set target each month. His victim profile seems to be completely random as far as I know.
I know I don’t speak much here about my future husband. If I ever fall victim to this murderer (or this family) I don’t want future historians to believe I was some lovesick woman. This notebook is strictly for research purposes. I suppose I can share some information, he might end up being a person of interest when I die inside this old castle or the filthy streets of the city (I should really stop speaking of my hypothetical death, I don’t want the Gods to get the wrong idea).
Aemond is a quiet and reserved man. He is smart, quite handsome and seems to be physically strong. If I had to say something I like about him it is his intellect and his long hair. Don’t get me wrong, such long hair like that is incredibly out of fashion. The handmaidens at back home would most likely scream in horror when I tell them my future husband has flowing silver hair like some mediaeval knight.
Tomorrow I shall try to find the library and seek more information about the Targaryen family tree. If not for research purposes, then for my own entertainment. Perhaps I can even look for this mysterious ‘Daeron’.
I shall write down my findings again soon. I swear there is something queer about this family.
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Today was surprisingly sunny for King’s Landing. You had breakfast with Alicent and she seemed not to suspect a thing. She had told you Aemond had a client over today so he wouldn’t be available until late in the afternoon.
Wanting to enjoy the nice weather before it was over you made your way outside. It was still cold of course, but the sun felt nice. You walked past the eerie cemetery and deeper into the woods of the Keep. The path was still densely overgrown but you reached a part where the dirt path got wider. Your curiosity only grew as you followed it. Aemond hadn’t shown you anything past the cemetery after all.
You eventually reached a clearing. In the middle stood a magnificent oak with leaves as red as blood. Of course, you knew about the heart trees of the Old Gods, your old home had one as well, but you never knew an oak tree could serve as a heart tree as well. Judging by the shape of the leaves and the crooked thick branches of the tree you were certain it had to be in the same family as a live oak tree. It made you happy that even in the Red Keep they kept the old traditions of the first men alive.
Someone sat on a swing that was attached to one of the thickest branches of the tree. It didn’t take a genius to figure out who it was. You only knew one woman that wore light coloured dresses and had beautiful long silver hair. She hadn’t bothered to style it this morning, which you found to be a bit improper but then you remembered she was quite strange anyway.
“You are here sooner than I expected.” Helaena’s voice was incredibly pleasant to listen to, or so you thought. It was sweet and delicate, almost as if she was careful not to make too much noise as she spoke.
“You were expecting me?”
Helaena hummed in response and you cautiously approached her. You leaned against the thick trunk of the tree and Helaena hopped off the swing, only to sit back on it but this time she was facing you. You remembered something your mother used to say.
“It is often said that no man can tell a lie in front of a heart tree, as the old gods know when men are lying.”
Perhaps this was your time to finally get some answers.
“Aemond likes you, you know?” Helaena softly swung back and forth on the old wooden swing. Her words surprised you. He hadn’t really shown he did. Well he took you on a walk and dropped a major piece of information with no prior warning, not something you would call charming, elegant, or gentlemanly.
Helaena continued.
“He said he is happy to be married to a smart woman.”
Her smile seemed so sweet and genuine, it was very different from what you were used to. Perhaps the strange woman was finally warming up to you now that her brother had told he ‘likes’ you and thinks you’re smart?
That was definitely not what you had thought Aemond would think of you. As smart. Sure, you were confident to admit that you possessed some sort of intellect. But for a man who studied at Old Town university it was certainly peculiar to call, no- even tell other people that his future wife was smart.
“I am delighted to hear that.”
Helaena was, surprisingly, easier to talk to compared to Aegon, who was supposed to be the more sociable of the two. However, Helaena’s gaze wasn’t fixed on you but something behind you. Was she simply avoiding eye contact because she disliked something, or did she really see something? The eerie feeling you felt yesterday crawled back up. Your entire body switched from relaxed to anxious, almost as if all of your senses were a hundred times more sensitive. Was something really watching you? Perhaps it was only a castle worker. Someone had to keep these woods and gardens looking good, right? Even in the winter.
You knew you had to look. Your brain was tricking you again. This palace is guarded. No one would be able to simply slip in and spy on you whenever you entered the godswoods.
Then you felt something. Something ticklish and long moved from your shoulder towards your hand. Paralyzed by fear you could only move your eyes to where the feeling was. In reaction you shrieked. You don’t think you have ever been so loud before.
You swatted your hand around, desperate to get this beast off your body. Once you had finally flung it off Helaena calmly walked over and picked it up from where it had fallen. Letting it crawl over her hands and watching it in fascination.
“Diplopoda…a millipede.” She whispered softly and slowly walked back to the swing. You watched in amazement. She wasn’t afraid of the insect, in fact, Helaena seemed completely mesmerised by the creature. The hundreds of little legs all moved as it crawled over her soft delicate pale hands. Her fingers were long and thin, like a master pianist.
“You’re not- afraid of the insect?” You asked her after you had regained your breath and most importantly, your composure. There weren’t as many bugs in the North compared to here. The climate here was a lot warmer, even in the winter. You felt a little silly for being so frightened by such a small creature.”
“Millipedes are actually myriapods…” She replied as she seemed completely lost in thought as she studied the insect- no. She studied the myriapod.
“They have eyes…but they cannot see very well. To answer your question, this species is completely harmless to humans.”
Well, at least you learned something new today.
“Would you like to hold it as well?”
No. Absolutely not.
“I suppose I could try.”
You walked to where Helaena sat on the swing. The wood creaked a little as it still slowly moved back and forth. You held out your hands, bracing yourself for the nasty, itchy, crawling feeling of the largest millipede you had ever seen. Helaena’s face had lit up once you agreed to hold it, she seemed so excited to share her interests with you. It made you wonder if she could even share it with her own family.
Perhaps they  understood her just as little as you did.
Helaena had carefully placed Millipede the Myriapod in your hands. You felt squeamish as you felt the hundreds of little legs move around in the palm of your hands. You had to move your hands around a lot too. The creature was quick and you didn’t want it to fall off, not because you cared about the thing, but because you didn’t want to upset Helaena.
Something about her enthusiasm reminded you of your father. Who loved telling you ghost stories and myths. You didn’t believe any story he had told you, but seeing his face lit up as he was talking about the things he loved made you smile. Helaena’s excited expression made you smile as well. You realised you had judged her too soon. Sure she had some…issues, but she was kind and was eager to befriend you.
“I think it doesn’t like me.” The creature was quick and constantly tried to slip away from the palms of your hand. The strange squeamish feeling felt less overwhelming with time, sure, the thing was absolutely horrifying, but the feeling that you might die if you touched it had completely faded.
“Come, I’ll help.” Helaena’s sweet smile instantly melted your heart. She took the insect- no, myriapod from your hands and you instinctively wiped your hands off on the skirt of your dress. She started to walk towards the path that led back to the castle. You were so distracted by the millipede and Helaena herself that you had completely forgotten to ask her the questions you wished to ask her.
“Helaena-”
“I wish to show it to my grandfather.” Helaena was completely in her own world while she walked.
“Okay, well, may I ask you a few questions then?” “Perhaps later.” Well, at least she didn’t beat around the bush. Her bluntness hadn’t surprised you. Alicent had tried to make a proper lady if her daughter, there was no denying that. Helaena simply had a mind of her own. She wore her hair loose whenever she pleased, she did not care about the proper ways you should wear colours. There was something admirable about her, even if she was a little mad.
The gloomy castle came back into view when the two of you exited the godswood. Immediately you felt a shift in the air. The clouds blocked the sun and the feeling of gloom and dread returned. It seemed to linger around the castle constantly and was not something you had gotten used to yet.
“Aemond would want to see you by the way”
You raised your eyebrow as you turned your head to her.
“How do you know that?” She shrugged and continued to walk. She turned the corner and you followed her blindly, accidentally colliding with a hard human chest. You nearly fell backwards but you felt a strong, lean arm stabilise you.
“Gods, I am so sorry-”
You finally looked up to see who you had bumped into, it was Aemond. You were about to call after Helaena who happily continued to walk towards her grandfather’s studies as if you had never been there to begin with when you noticed something different. For starters, Aemond wore a glass eye. It wasn’t the completely white eye he had worn when he first met you. Instead his glass eye looked nearly identical to his healthy one.
However he had made one major change.
“Your hair…” Was all you managed to stammer out.
Aemond’s long silver hair you had grown to adore had been completely copped off. Instead it was cropped on the sides and back while it gradually got longer on the top of his head. He looked good. Different, but good.
Your face must’ve given off a different reaction because Aemond almost nervously ran his hand through his hair.
“You don’t like it-”
“I do like it.”
An awkward silence fell between the two of you. Neither of you really knew what to say.
“Not that your old hair was bad- I just…I like this as well.” You doubted your awkward stumbling over your own words did much to reassure him but he seemed to somewhat regain his usual composure. He sternly nodded and started speaking again.
“I need you to be my assistant this afternoon.”
Huh?

▸ E1: True or False?
One day we got curious as to how men and women date in this city. To satisfy our curiosity, we discussed the beginning of a new project, that required us to follow the lives of several men and women in Seoul.
For it to be real, we won’t intervene in their lives. Only when we think it’s necessary, we will share their answers with others, or maybe edit them to make this entertaining—all the while keeping their original words.
It’s worth telling that fifty individuals around Seoul were chosen for this project. Still, they will all be participating with nicknames to protect their privacy—as we usually do when it comes to the internet. They all had to promise to treat their phones as their friends, as well as the app we developed where we will be posting questions, and telling only the truth.
But some answers and behaviors made us wonder if they indeed were telling us like it really is.

ılı.lıl taehyung: I’m the cool type… and uhm, gentle. Definitely not clingy. I’m cool.
ılı.lıl deo: I keep true to myself when I date… and when I break up too.
ılı.lıl kie: I’d say I fall in and out of love pretty fast. What can I say? I’m passionate. *chuckles* And if I have to break up, I just do it. I won’t dwell much.
ılı.lıl yoongi: What’s even the point of getting laid? *tsk* It’s a hassle…
ılı.lıl jin: I’m not one to play games. I don’t like that. I think overall I’m a pretty good guy.
ılı.lıl harin: Before my current boyfriend, well, I think I dated around uhm… Four men? No, three…? Wait. Let me retake this just once! *laughs*
So, whether the participants are telling the truth… well, we will let you be the judge of that.

ılı.lıl deo: It happened one year ago…
ılı.lıl taehyung: She was the only one I could see. Like I was just gravitating in her orbit… Like we were in a world of our own. I felt complete.
ılı.lıl deo: I felt this spark every time I would catch him staring at me and then I simply couldn’t look away.
ılı.lıl taehyung: Back then I thought “Wah, this is what love feels like” *chuckles sadly*
ılı.lıl deo: I’ll always remember him.
ılı.lıl taehyung: If that is really the case… I don’t think someone ends a relationship if they feel that way.
ılı.lıl deo: It was my fault.
ılı.lıl taehyung: You know, it was my fault…
ılı.lıl taehyung: No… It’s true, she messed it up.
ılı.lıl deo: I won’t make excuses.
ılı.lıl taehyung: I mean… Of all the people… Why me? Why did it have to be me?
ılı.lıl deo: Simply put, we met at a time when I needed someone like him. Thanks to him, I became who I am now...
ılı.lıl taehyung: I wish I had never met her. *sighs* I was such a fool now that I think back.
ılı.lıl deo: *smiles* Being around him.. his love was kind of magical...

august 10th, 2022
Summer is at its peak and Taehyung has just arrived at Jeju airport. It has been a while since he last had some time to himself due to work, so to say he couldn’t wait for this much-deserving vacation is an understatement.
He organized everything at the company before he took off for this get-away, from the ongoing projects ideas he had recently pitched in, to the files the design team would need the next fifteen days he was away. And if you know Taehyung, you also know being organized was never his forte.
The game designer waits absentmindedly with his luggage by his foot, as he takes his beloved camera out of its case to finally point at the structure behind him. This airport isn’t the biggest one he had ever set foot on, he observes, but it is cozy enough and bustling with people everywhere to the point his fingers itch for the metal click of the equipment for a piece of nostalgia he held dear to his heart.
Just around the corner, Deo hit the brakes of the jeep as she waits for a group of tourists to cross to the other sidewalk while talking to her boss on the phone.
“It would’ve been much easier if you had just asked him for a selfie or something, Yumi–”
She hears her boss laugh through the speakers as she looks out of the window. The place is packed to the point she can barely see the pick-up line where the Ubers and Taxis usually park, and a wave of worriedness falls upon her. “Let’s go through with his description once again.”
“Ok, remember… He’s tall, and the last time he came he had blonde hair but that might not be the case anymore… Mmm, he has a nice shoulder line– Just trust me, his face will be hard to miss. He’s really handsome!”
The confession has Deo opening a smile. She met Yumi just a couple of weeks back when she arrived in Jeju herself, but the connection was instant.
For the first three days, she stayed at Yumi’s shack—the colorful hostel by the beach owned by Yumi herself and her long-time fiancé, Namjoon. But then going home became some distant reality she wasn’t ready to face, so kindly she was offered a position at the beach stay. And now, here she is, doing her first task out of the premises and the vigilante eyes of her playful bosses.
Although she loved the couple who hired her, even if it had been just a mere seventeen days, and she considered them as family, nothing made Deo as uncomfortable as not knowing what she was dealing with. Driving to the airport clueless as to whom she should be picking up wasn’t her cup of tea and the uneasiness she felt was visible as she sighed longly while turning off the call.
The stop sign goes green again, and with a bold strike of encouragement, she straightens her back, holds the steering wheel with conviction, and begins a cheerful pep talk to herself.
“You can do this.” She mumbles, hawkeyes scanning the people as her car slowly passes by. “How hard can it be… He’s tall and–”
The words quickly lose their sound in her mouth. Standing ten feet ahead, a man attracts glances from everyone passing by as he checks the visor in his camera absentmindedly.
Mentally, Deo starts crossing every characteristic being given by Yumi as she keeps looking at him through the safety of the Jeep’s tainted window. The only thing that doesn’t match is that this handsome man isn’t blonde but a brunette. His chocolate locks look ridiculously soft blowing in the light breeze.
Inhaling resolved, she parks right next to him, rolling her window down.
“Hi there! Would you perhaps be the Kim Taehyung from Seoul I’m looking for?”
Upon hearing his name, Taehyung looks up at her. The girl doesn’t wait for his answer, she jumps out of the vehicle that he can notice is much bigger than herself. “You must be here to pick me up… Right?”
Deo smiles at him confirming with a nod before opening the big trunk of the Jeep. Instead of introducing herself right away as expected, Taehyung watches as she reaches for his luggage, her knitted eyebrows denouncing how heavy it must be.
“I– I can do that–” He tries, but she swiftly evades his reach.
“It’s no problem! Really.”
He watches a bit flustered as she tries to dismiss her effort with a laid-back energy as if it was something she did all the time—to arrange heavy stuff in trunks and whatever not.
Picking both his duffel bags to help while she is still pushing his suitcase inside the trunk, he is able to take two steps before she takes notice and grabs them from his hands. “Leave that to me! You can wait inside, really. Go ahead!” Deo waves her hand and he starts to walk toward the passenger seat uncertain of how to behave, but decides to take her lead for the time being.
“Seatbealt!” She says as soon as she occupies the driver's seat and he is quick to follow the instruction.
“So… Where is Namjoon?”
Deo reaches for the rearview mirror, casually checking something in her eye before adjusting it back to its position. “Oh, he had to give today’s surf lessons and Yumi was kind of busy with tonight’s gathering so… But you’ll see him soon enough!”
“Ah, I see”
“He’ll be waiting for us by the beach, don’t worry.” And the bubbly smile she gives him before starting the car and driving them away is enough to shut down his inquiry and haze him in his thoughts.
ılı.lıl taehyung: What kind of women I’m compatible with? *smiles* Looking back… I’m drawn to the ones that are strange to me at first *chuckles* I think they’re a good pair for me.
Driving down the lush tapestry of Jeju island, Deo takes the wheel as the jeep’s interior is illuminated by the soft glow of the sun. Melodic notes intertwine with the afternoon’s warm atmosphere as music envelops them. Deo’s fingers tap the steering wheel, and her voice, a gentle hum, dances in harmony with the rhythm. Taehyung, sitting beside her, steals occasional glances, captivated by her carefree demeanor. The playful sway of her copper strands in the wind and the joy evident on her face, as the waves crash on the coast, make the moment feel like a private dance between them.
ılı.lıl taehyung: Have you ever met someone and felt like they were this huge… Question mark?
ılı.lıl taehyung: Like– “What is she like? She looks fun” *chuckles reminiscent* And you can’t stop having these questions and curiosities… You just want to know more and more.
As if sensing the perfect moment, a familiar melody begins to play through the car’s speakers. Deo’s eyes lit up with recognition, a grin forming on her lips. Officially Missing You by Tamia had been remade by Basstracks as a summer tune, and it had quickly become one of her favorites at the moment; a song that resonated with the essence of Jeju and its travelers.
With an impulsive burst of excitement, Deo cranks up the volume, allowing the music to envelop the jeep. The infectious beat cascades around them, harmonizing with the engine's rhythm roaring wildly in the wind. Her hands tap the steering wheel more enthusiastically than before, her foot keeping time with the pedals as the melody ignites her senses.
And then, as if the music had started a fire within her, she begins to sing. Her voice, rich and passionate, hits Taehyung’s ears in a wonderful and alluring way. Every note she sings seems to carry the energy of the sun-drenched afternoon, a celebration of life and the freedom of the open road.
Taehyung was initially taken aback by the sudden fervor. He watches in silent amazement as she transforms from a steady driver into a vivacious performer. Her eyes sparkle with delight, and her voice carries an unadulterated joy that is impossible to ignore.
For a moment, he is rendered speechless, caught in the captivating spell of her uninhibited enthusiasm even though he knows the lyrics by heart himself. But as the chorus approaches, Deo’s voice soars higher, and turning to him with an unmistakable twinkle in her eye, she opens the windows further, allowing the world outside to merge with the music.
“You know this song–?” As she asks and the chorus reaches its crescendo, she extends her arm toward him, pretending her hand is a microphone. The invitation hangs between them, and he hesitates for a moment. “C’mon! Sing with me–” Shyness lingered, but her spirited performance is too magnetic to resist.
Taking a deep breath, he leans closer to the imaginary tool and timidly joins in, his voice intertwining with hers. Taehyung sings softly, still caught in the spell of her contagious energy. His eyes remain fixed on her while she loses herself to the music.
At that moment, as Deo sings with all her heart, his own swells with a profound fondness for the stranger sitting by his side. He realizes that this is a glimpse into her unfiltered soul—one that seems to revel in the simple joys of life, that seems to embrace every moment with unbridled passion.
ılı.lıl taehyung: That’s how I fell for her… You see, I’m attracted to intense women.
⤷ tangerimin It is fun to follow their lead kekeke so… Same here.
ılı.lıl taehyung: There is a lot more to it– Like being bubbly… Oh, and she was also pretty feisty! Yeah, *smiles* that’s what she was like. She had just the right amount of feistiness.
When the music fades out and is replaced by the radio host’s voice instead, Deo turns down the volume still in a cheerful spirit. She takes a peak at the passenger seat only to notice Taehyung’s eyes are already on her. Visibly disconcerted, he gives her a small smile before looking over at his window instead, and she takes the opportunity to know more about him.
“You will like it there,” she starts bubbly and he returns his gaze to her side profile. It is endearing how close to the steering wheel her seat is to compensate for her small stature.
“I think so too… The last time I came it was such a healing experience– And well, I’ve been wanting to rent a trailer ever since I was younger.”
“Oh, you’ll love it then!” He watches how her eyes part from the road ahead and instead fall on his side of the car, momentarily pointing with her index finger still on the wheel to the beach extension that passes by them. “It must be lovely to drive along the coasts… Picking these beautiful spots to just– Chill. I have a list of them if you want!”
Taehyung leans his head on the window, a nostalgic wave hits his lips as the lines of it curve upward and he watches the sea crashing at the shore. It’s like a vivid picture of his childhood right in front of him.
“That would be great if I had the license to drive the camper around… Maybe next time?”
“You’re staying over a month and you won’t even change spots?! Now that we can’t do, hon.”
He looks back at her startled by the casualty she treats everything. And not in a bad way; she didn’t peg him as this overbearing nosy person who didn’t have boundaries, but as someone that seemed carefree and loose. A different version of himself that he had to let go of many moons ago to fit the immense gray box that was societal norms and ordinary conviviality.
Feeling a bit tempted to just enjoy the moment he decides then to let go of the filters. “That’s the only thing to do, hon, I don’t have the license.” He jokes, chuckling at her reaction when hearing the nickname. “What? You started it.”
“My bad! Yumi was so invested in this whole casual speech thing ever since I started my part-time job there that now I just can’t come out of it. Something about making the guests feel at home and all that…”
“Sounds like Yumi!”
“But back to you. I was thinking… If there was a way to get you a license, would you want it? To live the full experience of a camper, that is…?”
Taehyung frowns thinking as he looks to the calm waves again, but there isn’t much thinking to do. He would love the freedom of parking the vehicle throughout the whole extension of Jeju. “Sure…” He ponders. Being the type to imagine and discuss things, he was more than ready to give her all the reasons why that would be great for his next stay. “To park it whe–”
“Great! So let’s do it!”
It is the last thing he hears before she makes an abrupt U-turn in the middle of the calm road, and he has to flatten one hand on the window and the other on the panel of the Jeep to hold for his life.
His heart only stops beating at an alarming speed once she hits the brakes and he is able to open the door to exit the vehicle. Still confused as to what is happening, the picture gets clear as she opens her arms excitedly in front of what he realizes to be a driving school.
“Ta-da! Your problems will be solved in exactly two days!” Deo exclaims, and Taehyung is pretty certain that his face is contorting in the most clueless way. He notices how a sudden strike of worriedness flashes on her toffee irises, however. “If you manage to pass the test of course…”
ılı.lıl taehyung: I should have known she was crazy by then… But in all honesty… That’s what made her fun in the first place.
ılı.lıl taehyung: And that makes me crazy too *laughs* You know, it’s those kinds of things you only realize later… Much later. Like realizing you’ve been conned only after being conned by someone *sighs*
⤷ supertuna Wow … I have just now realized how some people can be so blind
ılı.lıl taehyung: And now whenever I see a camper trailer… I think of her.
They only get out of the driving school when he goes through with all the paperwork necessary to go and take the test the next day as Deo had insisted. She not only pushed him into a 3x4 photo machine situated on the long corridor of the building, but also cut the picture she thought to be the best, and helped him fill the application.
Taehyung keeps replaying the whole shenanigan in his head as he takes his surfboard out of the roof of the jeep parked by his temporary home—a camper trailer by the beach. Last year, Namjoon had called him excitedly sharing the news that his girlfriend and he had bought a cozy place in Jeju and had renovated it to be a chill hostel for surfers and passersby. Of course, Taehyung stopped by to visit as soon as he was able to take some days off, but at the time, since all trailers were already rented, he stayed on the main structure.
Not that it was bad, far from it. He enjoyed every second; from the late-night gatherings to the lounge festivities, and the amazing lunchtime Yumi was keen on making into a later-on karaoke session or game quest. There was no dull time within the colorful facilities, and it was always kept so casual that it made Taehyung feel very much at home.
But he had the trailer experience written down on his bucket list ever since he could remember. And so this time around, he was sure to seize the opportunity and make that old promise come true.
His thoughts wander away as he finishes sticking his board in the warm sand. Playing by the emerald shore, Deo runs laughing as she is chased by two dogs. His right hand comes to his eye line to shield it from the sun as he is incapable of moving on with his life, seeing her throw a stick only to have the bigger dog chasing it and the little one look at her unamused. It’s like he could be here all day to witness this particular scene, unconscious and unbothered by what surrounds them.
And that is indeed what happens.
“Hey, you, Mr. cloud9–” Namjoon calls for his attention for the second time. “You didn’t listen to a thing I said, did you?”
“Hm?”
“I was telling you to close the canvas of it at night because of the wind– Are you even hearing a thing?” But as he follows his friend's line of sight he knows he isn’t. Letting go of his own obligations for the time being, he stands beside Taehyung, crossing his arms and admiring his dogs running as the waves serve as background music to his ears. It’s peaceful. It’s his piece of peace on earth.
“She shines, doesn’t she?”
Namjoon peaks at his friend before looking ahead once more, with a fond smile finding his features. “She does… She has been our recent source of joy. Yumi and I laugh so much because of her lately.”
“Yeah, she seems fun,” Taehyung muses with a chuckle of his own still enamored by the scene displayed in front of him. Deo falls to the soft sand in laughter and both dogs come flying toward her.
“Poor girl… She was dumped here by some surfer. Could you believe that?”
There is a sorrowful pause and Taehyung is suddenly snapped out of his trance, indignity brimming in his eyes as his friend shakes his head clearly saddened by the situation.
Returning his view to the girl ahead, he adds, “What kind of jerk would do that? She seems so bubbly and… Caring–”
“You want to take her to Seoul?” Namjoon interrupts and he almost gasps.
“Take her?!”
“Yeah, take her. I mean, I think she would be happy with you there…”
“You think she would like to come with me?” Taehyung’s fingers tingle with the possibility, even if he himself doubts it a little.
“Sure! We just have to give her one last shot and she’s good to go! The vet–”
“Wait. What? What are you talking about?”
Namjoon stares at him suddenly confused, and then back at the beach again. As Deo hops by, calling for both Monnie and Tan, his eyebrows soften in understanding.
“Oh… It’s not Monnie, is it?” He muses playfully. “You’re talking about Yewon… I see,”
“Yewon…” Taehyung mumbles her name to himself. “So her name is Yewon, huh…”
But the impish nudges he receives on his side snap him out of his thoughts and let him know that Namjoon won’t be letting go of this confession so soon.
Tumblr media
In the cozy beachside hostel, the evening breeze whispers through open windows, carrying with it the laughter of tenants. With a lighthearted step, Deo finds herself in the pantry where Namjoon is absorbed in a way to easy recipe for lounge snacks. Fishing his phone out of her jeans, a small smile plays on her lips as she extends the device toward him.
“Here you go, boss,” she remarks, her voice playful as she not only returns his phone but also substitutes the sugar jar in his hand with the salt and pepper.
Namjoon glances up, chuckling at his clumsiness. “We were almost in trouble there. You’re a lifesaver.”
As he takes the phone from the table filled with condiments, he can’t help but tease, “You should probably get one of your own, don’t you think?”
“Eh. It’s just a hassle really… I only use it to talk to our guests.”
Leaving him to his impromptu cooking, she strolls out to the porch, where the new visitors are gathering. The atmosphere is lively, with conversations and newfound curiosity filling the air. Deo effortlessly mingles, chatting with familiar faces and welcoming newcomers that pass by the beach.
Among the crowd, she notices Taehyung engrossed in a ping pong game, as she takes some beers to a group playing Jenga. His infectious laughter captivates everyone around him and she can’t help but smile at the view. Her gaze lingers, catching his eye for a fleeting second.
She points with her head to the group around him, wearing a playful smile on her lips, and lifting her thumb up to measure how he is doing tonight she waits for his response. Immediately he raises his own finger positively, his smile opening wider at her caring gesture to check on him.
Suddenly, the lights flicker and go out, causing momentary confusion and their brief interaction to cease. Murmurs and laughter rise as the guests fumble in the dark. Deo is the only one chuckling expectant as she knows what is to come.
Then, not ten seconds later, Yumi’s voice pierce the darkness through a megaphone. “Ladies and gents, it’s game time!”
The announcement is met with cheers and applause, and the porch transforms into a playground of excitement. Deo herself feels the rush of anticipation buzz down to the tip of her fingers as the group prepares for a surprise game under the stars, even though she replays the script made by her and Yumi earlier on in her mind.
The last time Taehyung stayed here, he arrived so tired from a late-night flight that he wasn’t able to participate in the welcoming game he knew Yumi organized every month, and he regretted it for the whole week he rented a room. This night was all every guest he met by the beach was able to talk about, and now he was ready to find why.
As some fairy lights and a big screen illuminate the space, Deo watches the handsome newcomer’s silhouette amid the glow. His grin was unmistakable as he raised a red cup, ready to dive open-heartedly into whatever it was that the hosts had prepared.
Supposedly, every time Yumi and Namjoon did this for the new guests to ambient themselves and feel more comfortable around everyone else, they prepared a scavenge hunt inside and outside of the hostel's bounds. But this week everything had gone to space and changes had to be made at the last minute.
Between losing a long-time employee and having to train Deo on the spot, as well as managing the surf lessons and running the business, the couple had little to no time to arrange the things needed for the anticipated scavenge hunt. So this month, Deo pitched in with a rather easy game to orchestrate and that would still promote the mingling of the visitors—Simon Says.
“And… Start!” Yumi exclaimed as she pressed the button to start the presentation on the projection screen.
Big crimson red letters appear giving instructions and the crowd thrillingly follows. “Simon says: make a group with four girls and three guys” it reads at first and everyone fumbles their way to find open spots. Deo herself is forced to join as two guests she had come to know, pull her to their side. The thrill of the game intertwined with the salt-kissed wind made her feel some sense of belonging that she had never really expected.
“Three guys, three girls!”
In the throes of the chaos of the match, it was inevitable however how Taehyung’s gaze followed the sound of Deo’s laughter. Even if their eyes meet in brief moments, and even if it was in the middle of an ongoing competition, a silent connection seemed to pull them to each other like gravity.
As the game reaches its apex, the tension in the air is palpable. The players’ laughter overlaps with the sound of Yumi’s megaphone, creating a symphony of fun. They aren’t completely strangers now. There is a spontaneous connection formed between them all, just like the hosts had intended it to.
“One guy, one girl! Quick!”, Yumi reads the screen through the megaphone overexcited, and the remaining participants eye each other in confusion while the rest of the crowd laughs entertained. “Oh–”
Taehyung steals a glance at his two partners, both male, and they all chuckle amused, not really knowing how to proceed.
“I think I messed up when writing this– Wait.” Yumi confesses to the crowd sheepishly, starting to move toward the laptop to try and fix the mistake.
But then Taehyung feels like someone is watching him through his peripheral, and when he turns his head, it’s her. Deo stands two feet away from him, close to Yumi, watching joyfully, and he suddenly knows what to do. Or better, his heart does.
With two quick steps, he reaches for her hand, pulling her gently to his side and attracting everyone else’s attention to their figures, Yumi’s included. In the midst of the applause and collective cheer, Deo’s mute inquiry reaches his eyes.
The porch begins to transform into a realm of unity and exhilaration, being lit by the moonlight and the shared spirit of the guests, but not that any of the two notice, as the girl is too enchanted by her last-minute partner’s orbs. Taehyung's big brown eyes pierce hers with certainty and a flash of curiosity that is almost childlike.
A shared smile floats between them as her sight falls to his lips, a silent acknowledgment of the joy of the evening and perhaps the butterflies that flutter rapidly in their stomachs.
The lights had gone out, but the bonds forming under the starry August sky seemed to shine even brighter.
ılı.lıl taehyung: When you look into a girl’s eyes you can tell if she’s compatible with you or not. I can see who she is through it… And in that moment I felt it. I knew that she and I would be compatible.
“We have our winner for tonight!” Yumi exclaims through the megaphone as they keep staring into each other’s eyes, “Congrats!”
Amidst the fading echoes of the beachside game’s conclusion, jubilant cheers resound from the open porch of the hostel. The sun had retreated long before the gathering had started, ceding its reign to a canvas of twilight hues, but now fireworks burst into existence, painting the sky with a kaleidoscope of colors.
The couple, different from the majority of the crowd who excitedly run towards the shores, stands hand in hand still. A silent connection stronger than the clamor. With each explosion, Taehyung’s gaze shifts from the spectacle to Deo, seeing in her eyes a breezeful wonder that makes him rendered. Yet, it’s not just the pyrotechnics that leave him breathless. As he watches her, a quiet realization dawns—his heart races to a rhythm he hadn’t known before. It’s more than just curiosity. At that moment, amid the splendor of the fireworks and the tranquil beauty of the night, Taehyung recognizes the gentle tug of love.
ılı.lıl taehyung: I liked everything about her… The way she looked at things and the way she smelled. How she had two funky single braids done in her loose strands and the clothes she threw together without much effort making an all-together beachy look.
ılı.lıl taehyung: Everything about her seemed perfect to me. I just… I really liked her.

From Mouth to Mistake
[1730 words] [vomit, fear, violence, digestion mention]
Mining all day was an exhausting duty, but as leader of Business Bay, it was one Tommy wasn’t exactly able to skip. Sweaty, tired and slightly delirious from the day-long excavation underground, the teen was happy to once again be on the surface. He made note of his boys, pointing out in his mind their schedules. Bitzel was caring for his cats, and headed inside his house. Luke had mentioned he’d be out spending time with friends right now. And Deo was…
“Deo?!” Tommy’s voice sounded throughout the open hills of the isolated bay in annoyed search of his friend. The man had assured Tommy they’d meet soon, and yet, Deo was nowhere to be seen. And within Business Bay, it was fairly easy to spot anyone across the plains, mind the few buildings.
Retiring to the map, he made use of the paper, spotting out the member of the bay with the locator. It took Tommy a few takes to realize that the indicator being so near wasn’t a mistake. Upon hearing a small distant shriek, Tommy turned all around in the way of the small sounds.
Settling to titling his head downward, a tiny speck of orange caught the blonde’s eyes. Tommy’s mouth went agape, realizing the tiny thing was Deo.
His hands came down fast around the miniature person, scooping him up right into his fingers, and lifting himself back up, Deo covered in his palms.
The tiny Deo squeaked out dizzily, yelping about how fast Tommy was moving.
“Deo! How in the fuck did you get so small?” Tommy found the situation a lot funnier than his friend did.
“Tommy, this is serious!” The man whined, “a witch shrunk me!”
Wiping away a tear from his laughter, the blonde replaced the second hand’s emptiness with a sharpened glinting sword. A low chuckle remained on his lips as Tommy headed in the pointed out direction, and easily slayed the mob.
“That hard, huh?” Tommy mocked his small companion.
“Easier when you’re normal size!” He shot back.
Laughing still, Tommy continued, “Well, I guess we gotta get you back to n-“
Deo, holding his tiny map, cut off the blonde, “I was trying to tell you, Tommy, Icebomb is on his way over. He’s gonna murder me if he sees I’m this vulnerable!”
“Literally,” Tommy hummed, “What should we do? Do I hide you?”
Deo stammered, “Yes- quick, he’s right,” he took to pointing in the sky, the plane fast approaching, “there.”
Tommy gasped, hand moving with a mind of its own up to his open mouth. Barely giving it a second to relay the idea, Tommy panted out, “Hidin’ you here!-“ before Deo’s body became engulfed in the dark wetness that was the inside of Tommy’s mouth.
The turning of the jet’s engine whirred to a halt as it settled on their territory.
Deo became painfully aware of the new sensations he was forced into. All of the sudden, his body was wet, clothes sticking grossly against his skin. A strong muscle jumped up at him, the red thing darting towards Deo’s head, thrusting him down into its wetness, pressing him claustrophobically between its sides. Deo was crushed, sandwiched between the tongue as it rolled lazily over his hat. The brunette exclaimed, reaching to grab it back before the intrusive tongue snatched it away.
The man gasped, and he tugged on the tongue. A shout was stuck in Deo’s throat, being smushed around, battled back and forth into the insides of Tommy’s cheeks. He was helpless against the blonde. Completely shrouded in darkness, Deo was left at the mercy of who he thought was his closest friend, now turned his captor.
Checking the map again, Icebomb’s icon was right on top of their territory, and as he looked up, Tommy spot the plane not too far from them. He quickly pushed Deo to the back of his throat, fighting against the tugging and pulling on his uvula. The blonde tilted his head back, opening his maw to shout, “I’m trying to hide you, dickhead!”
Deo screamed for Bit and Luke to come help him, but of course, he was too small for anyone other than the predator to hear him. The words confused the brunette. How in Prime could Tommy be helping him when he was going to be digested? The realization terrified him. Tommy had been playing this whole time, and the moment Deo was weak, he was being eaten. Swallowed down, down, until he slowly burnt in the stomach acid, and died wrong about his supposed friend.
“Go down, dammit!” Tommy turned from Icebomb’s sight, noticing the teen was leaving the plane and had seen the leader.
A finger reached inside. The sun blinded Deo as his sunglasses fell off his face and went straight down the death trap. He instinctively reached a hand out to catch them, the glasses slipping just past his fingertips and losing to the void. Deo cussed under his breath and realized his grip was slipping. Desperate fingers slid down the glossy surface. Cries left the brunette as his last two fingers left the uvula.
Deo fell, caught only by Tommy’s tightening esophagus. Survival instincts kicked in, and the brunette’s mind was overtaken by the single only sheer need to escape. He used his nails, scraping into the malleable flesh suffocating him all around.
“Ack,-“ Tommy choked on his friend, “fuck!-“ He covered his mouth with his hands, gulping hard to send the struggling Deo down. How many times was he needing to remind the dumbass this was their plan? There was a bigger threat than Tommy would ever be fast approaching from behind.
The muscles squeezed around Deo’s body, squishing him into the squishy flesh. He was drug deep down the throat. Swallow after swallow, eventually he was guided to the sphincter. The small tube-like entrance was shut tight until Deo’s shoes met the small hole. It then embraces the brunette’s form, opening itself wide to accept the figure.
“Tommy?” Icebomb asked with only a hint of suspicion.
One last gulp, and Tommy spun around like his life depended on it, stumbling over his own feet in the process, “Icebomb! Hello! Uh, what’s up?”
“Where’s Deo,” the other teen was quick to the point, “I’ve got a little something I wanna show off…” he brandished a shiny new sword, relishing over its polished look.
Tommy swallowed again, out of fear this time, “N-no idea!” He played it ‘cool’, acting incredibly not obvious, in his head.
“Riiight,” Icebomb gave him a suspicious glare, eyeing his entire body. Tommy’s hands came around his middle.
The sound of speaking was blaring in Deo’s ears, causing a ringing in his head. Tommy’s voice was so brash and loud, that Deo could feel his head spinning. The pulling of the sphincter brought the brunette to meet Tommy’s stomach. He fell in with a splash beneath him. A mixture of acid, saliva, and puddles of partially digested food were what surrounded Deo; such a ‘pleasant’ environment.
“I promise, no idea where he is,” the pool swished him around as Tommy moved.
The voices were so muffled amongst the loud thrumming of his quickened heart, Deo’s racing as well, the gurgling of the stomach walls, and the heavy breathing in Tommy’s nearby giant lungs.
“Where’s he hiding?”
The stomach churned, gurgles and groans joining together in a cacophony of noise. A high pitched bubbling was the last uncomfortable sounding noise before Tommy let out a shy burp. The blonde coughed into his hand, readjusting himself.
“S-sorry, uh, but I don’t know. Deo likes going missing, doesn’t he…?” Tommy laughed awkwardly.
Icebomb groaned, “Fine, I’m coming back later though,” he spat.
Metallic clanging and the sudden jostling of Doe’s body amongst the stomach altered the man of the altercation outside.
He felt hopeless, tears dripping off his chin into the mixture beneath him. Deo pitied how he could barely fend off a witch earlier, being overpowered so easy. The glass shattering echoed in his memory, recalling the shrinking process and how it left him feeling dizzy, lightheaded, and small. Not only was he hardly a few inches tall now, but he felt as small as he was. Pitiful, meak, and a quick meal.
Betrayed by his closest friend, banished to die alone in the acids.
But… he wasn’t burning alive in the pool of stomach acid. There was a numb tingling against his skin and wet clothes, but nothing hurt, nor was he melting.
Deo was… safe?
“Listen, get out of here, bitch, otherwise I’m going to make you,” Tommy growled under his breath, watching Icebomb’s expression falter.
He retreated, surrendering his diamond sword, “Fine!”
Juggled around once more, Tommy gave Icebomb a scar to make sure he’d not be back soon.
The lungs and heart snuggling Deo heaved, beating and breathing harmoniously in a labored way. Tommy was panting, and his heartbeat was booming.
Deo’s heart ached alongside the giant’s, all the anxiety catching up to cause a very exhausted man to lose all his adrenaline.
Tommy was running, Deo could tell from the way the liquid sloshed side to side, like a tide bringing him in and washing him back out again and again.
A door slammed. Tommy’s stomach sunk, dropping Deo nauseously.
“Okay, okay, okay,” Tommy sighed out, “We’re safe, I’m letting you out now.”
A few attempts to gag himself, and Tommy finally had managed to get his body to react, the reflex dragging Deo’s soaked body back up and into Tommy’s, frankly disgusting, palms.
Deo shuddered in the cool air, shaking off the digested food and acid.
“You’re okay!” Tommy beamed, “Fuck, Deo I’m so sorry, that was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done-, I should’ve put you in a pocket or something!”
Deo heaved, “It’s okay, Tommy. I wasn’t getting digested or anything…” he thought, “I think the potion let me live.”
Tommy gave a half smile, “I’m just happy you’re okay. That fucked scared me-“
“You?” Deo laughed, “I thought I was going to die!”
“I thought I’d killed you!”
The two shared in laughter over the odd situation. At least they could find the entertainment in it, rather than becoming traumatized from the near-death, and near-murder.
“Let’s never let that happen again,” Tommy chuckled.
Deo smiled, “Never again.”
They’d have to be extra careful around witches in the future.

Dreykov’s Daughter
(Part one)
Kara Danvers/Zor El x Red room reader
My first post guys :DD Lemme know if you want me to continue or any requests. I’ve never posted anything I’ve written before so I hope you guys enjoy :) I might post some of a book I’m writing as well
“Kara Zor-El.”
Your father spoke. “A client of ours wants her dead. I’m putting you on the job.” You nodded, you were the best widow of your generation and you knew it. Your father knew it. “She’s a kryptonian, an alien from another planet. Our weapons won’t hurt her, so you’re getting new ones.” He slid two daggers and a loaded gun across the desk you were both seated at.
“Is that all?” You asked curiously. “Do you need more?” Dreykov’s tone was condescending and there was nothing you hated more than disappointing him. When you disappointed him you were punished. Harshly. You quickly grabbed the weapons and shoved them in your belt. “No sir. Where will I be stationed?” You asked, wanting to get him out of this mood. “National City, Los Angeles.”
“I know you won’t disappoint me.”
— — — — — — — — — — — —
Kara was smiling as she returned to the DEO having just busted a renowned jewel thief when she ran into her sister. “Alex! Did you hear about that jewel thief I busted?”
“Yeah, great job Kar.” Alex was hovering over a few papers on the desk. Kara walked over.
“What’s that?” She hummed curiously. “Some sort of organization, not a lot of information.” It must have really been a tough case because Alex was doing that thing she always does when she’s stressed.
“Want me to try to check it out?” The blonde offered, “I have some free time.” Alex signed. “I would if there was anything to check out, but we don’t have one possible location! It’s like this place doesn’t even exist!” The kryptonians sister pinched her nose. “Well what’s it called? Maybe Lena knows something.”
“The red room.”
— — — — — — — — — — — —
You had spent weeks training the guard schedule of the DEO so you knew at exactly 4:02 am you would have a three minute window to get inside the heavily guarded building and into a vent to hide until further notice, which is exactly what you did. Currently you were hiding in said vent above a somewhat spacious quiet room that the alien used to communicate with a hologram of her mother, at least as far as you were aware. You blew a strand of h/c hair out of your face. It had been a few hours and you were starting to get clammy. You were used to having to wait during missions, but that doesn’t mean you liked it. You wished Kara would just come in already, you wished you could just get this mission over with so you could go home. Home? The red room wasn’t home, not really. It was all you knew. The only thing you knew, and you wouldn’t let the man who saved you down. Not now, not ever.
After what felt like hours, the blonde kryptonian entered the room, seemingly outraged at something if her storming around was any sign. Your hands curled around the handle of the knife you were provided, posing it in a way that would make it easy to plunge into her pretty little chest. Despite your elation, your face showed not a hint of emotion, just as you were trained to. You noticed Kara begin to yell at the hologram. How pitiful, you thought, to be so controlled by your own emotions. You silently opened the vent and dropped onto her shoulders, covering her mouth.
“Mmh!” She yelled against your hand and grappled to grab your legs. In response, you press the slightly green glowing dagger against her neck.
“Stay quiet, princess.”
You pushed the blade further into her neck, threatening to draw blood. She lifts her hands in surrender and you hesitantly uncover her mouth.
“Who are you?”
She says quietly and as calmly as she can. Climbing off of her shoulders and standing behind her, you answer.
“The last thing you’ll see.”
Suddenly, the blondes sister burst through the door.
“Kara it’s not-“
She stopped at the scene in front of her. You silently thanked yourself for making a mask. You cut Kara just above her collarbone before bolting through the door. Behind you you could hear Alex run to her sister. It wouldn’t be long before the whole DEO was on your ass, and that wouldn’t be good. Your father always said ‘failure is forgivable, to be captured is not.’ You ran straight into the chest of Hank Hanshaw who grabbed your arms and wrenched them behind your back, kicking you onto your stomach. You bite your lip to hold back a scream. No. You cannot fail. You can not fail. He won’t forgive you, your father won’t forgive you. You don’t dare show your fear. That’s rule number one of the red room. Alex quickly appeared and pressed a gun to your head, you heard the safety click off.
“What the fuck did you do to my sister?” She growled. She roughly grabbed your face and held it up so you would meet her eyes. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” You wheezed in response. She kicked your face. Feeling the blood enter your mouth, you spit it on her collar. That was the last thing you remembered before you were knocked out.

5 + 1 Fic Friday Roundup: Is Anyone Going to Adopt that Kid?
Some adoption and/or found family stories.
Judgement and Justice (AO3) - "Hitoshi Shinsou is surrendered to foster care by his single mother at the age of five. At the age of six, he decides to run away with his 'villainous' foster brother. From there, we meet a runaway Todoroki with projection issues to rival a Trans Siberian Orchestra concert, a tired analyst in a questionable government organization trying to figure out just who needs to get fired and where, a panicking Pro Hero trying to locate his son, who wasn't supposed to be in foster care in the first place, and a very, very annoyed underground hero who's going to steal a child from SOME hero, one way or another."
Crash Into Me (AO3) - "Kara is cold and scared and her little baby cousin Kal-el won't stop wiggling, but they have no choice but to keep moving or the DEO, the government entity that captured them shortly after they crashed on this planet, will catch them and punish them for trying to escape. And then Leonard Snart and Mick Rory, driving by, very nearly crash into her life."
The Children of Ullia (AO3) - "In a time where Aloy accepted Ullia's offer to take her as a daughter, Ullia had already taken one child of the East to be her own. A young man she met in Sunstone Rock."
Proud Immortal Parent's Way (AO3) - "A story in which Shang Qinghua gets the chance to raise the protagonist from square one! This causes a lot of things that never made it to the final draft of PIDW! And now there was a bunch of family drama in the Mobei Clan and some drama with Huan Hua that he and Binghe got dropped into, but hey, at least he wasn't going to be a scum villain anymore. And the cute baby is a plus!"
dry as a bone (AO3) - "Din Djarin didn’t set out to build a clan, but the child cooed and whined and telekinetically shoved their way into his heart. A clan of two is more than enough to fill that old bounty hunter’s heart, even if the womp rat doesn’t exactly take up much space. Said womp rat isn’t the only kid with special abilities, though, and every child deserves a chance to grow up safe and loved."
Bonus: Dad Bane AU (AO3) - "When Cad Bane is rescued from an ambush by a small Twi'lek street urchin, he does not foresee how much their meeting will change his life."

RIP Bishop Carlton Pearson
I was saddened to learn that Bishop Carlton Pearson died on 19 November this year.
He was a champion of LGBT rights in the Black Church, particularly in the Charismatic/Pentecostal tradition.
Most articles about him (wikipedia and so on) do not do him justice. This Los Angeles Blade article is pretty good (and no paywall).
Bishop Pearson started his work in the Church of God in Christ (American Black Pentecostal denomination, very theologically and politically conservative) but ended up rejecting much of the fundamentalism he was taught.
For these reasons, Bishop Pearson was thrown out of his denomination (COGIC), but he did not let this stop his ministry. The LGBT Christian movement includes all kinds of traditions, including the Black Pentecostal tradition!
Selected books by Bishop Pearson:
Hope (1991)
I've Got a Feelin' Everything's Gonna Be All Right (1992)
The Gospel of Inclusion (2007)
God Is Not a Christian, Nor a Jew, Muslim, Hindu…: God Dwells with Us, in Us, Around Us, as Us (2011)
There is a movie about his life called "Come Sunday" which I've meant to watch but haven't yet, and a This American Life radio special. Both were made before his passing.
I never met Bishop Pearson, but always hoped I could. Maybe in the next life. But I know hundreds whose lives were transformed by his ministry.
May he rest in peace.
For anyone interested in churches like Bishop Pearson's, regardless of your faith or cultural background, I have compiled a list of resources below since affirming Pentecostals aren't as well-known; please feel free to add.
gaychurch.org location-based website that finds LGBT-affirming churches near you
Powerhouse Global Network: Facebook-based announcement group relating to the Powerhouse Church network (LGBT-affirming Black Pentecostal church; all people of all backgrounds are welcome). Has branches in many major cities.
Powerhouse Church of Indianapolis: Indianapolis branch of Powerhouse, streams church services to fb and Zoom every Sunday.
TFAM (The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries)
Rainbow Fire: New Pentecostals: semi-active facebook group for affirming Pentecostals
Deo Gloria Family Church: Apostolic Pentecostal multicultural, LGBT-affirming church in South Africa, streams church services live
LGBT Pentecostals International: supportive fb page, streams church services
Reconciling Pentecostals International: small network of LGBT-affirming Pentecostal churches
Myself (neither Black, nor Christian, nor Pentecostal) but I know many people who work in churches like his, so if you tell me your city I can see if there's anything in your area. A lot of churches do not list that they are LGBT-affirming publicly on their website, but I have people I can ask.
I wanted the sad occasion of Bishop Pearson's death to be a way to tell people about the beauty of the LGBT-affirming church tradition. Not enough people know it in all its diversity.
Any inaccuracies are my own; please let me know if anything needs correcting or if there is information I can add.

Hey! I don't know if you're still writing Briania fics or accepting prompts for them, but if by chance you are, I've been thinking about the Naltorian mannerisms I've sent in before, specifically The Stare, and thought it would be really interesting to read about The Stare in action and Nia possibly unintentionally saving Brainy's or their friends' lives through her staring alerting them to danger before anyone has consciously noticed it.
I'd be really interested to see where you take this concept if you decide to pick it up! Your Brainia fics have always been my favorite and discussing the mannerism headcanons with you is always a delight.
Thank you so much! And also, thank you for always fuelling me with so many amazing headcanons for Naltorian mannerisms, they're all absolutely golden! I cooked up something special just for you for The Stare, a little fic about the first time Nia ever uses it. I hope you enjoy and thank you once again, it's always a joy to see your asks in my inbox! 😊
There were many trivial matters that often delayed a mission. Brainy was no stranger to this – indeed, it was an expected part of the job to gather as much data as possible before going into the field, to map out reconnaissance locations, locate blueprints of buildings that may necessitate the element of surprise.
Early into his career at the DEO, he had often forgone Alex’s judgement on mission briefings, preferring instead to jump right into the fray with a plan he had simulated long before anyone had given him an instruction to do so. It hadn’t been a concern of his to follow correct procedure at the time – obviously his own intellect had reigned superior over any official orders he had been expected to follow by far primitive minds.
He knew better now, of course. Even if sometimes that urge was still present, he had learned to quell it, to listen to his orders however unreasonable they may have seemed at first. Because, while not always the plan he had in mind, he could not deny that he worked with some incredibly efficient strategists.
While not quite an official DEO mission, it was still being presided over by Alex, and her instructions had been clear. At the moment, they were dealing with an incredibly delicate hostage situation. Little was known about the hostages in question, only that they were alien and being targeted by what Alex believed to be a separate faction of the same species. Regrettably, Brainy had no knowledge he could provide on the subject. This species was not known to him nor the Legion archive, though they appeared to be technologically advanced compared to Earth-standard equipment by some centuries, proving this for the most part by the proficiency of their weaponry.
It was these high-grade firearms in particular that gave the species such a unique energy signature to look out for. Without it, Brainy wasn’t sure they would have ever been able to locate the site where the kidnapped aliens were being held.
He and Nia had been sent ahead to the scene – a derelict warehouse at the edge of the city – to keep watch from ground level while Alex and J’onn worked on mapping the building using their own internal sources closer to home. The warehouse was old, lead-lined, which had given Kara little insight on what might have been going on inside. She was currently somewhere high above, offering an aerial perspective around the building’s circumference. Brainy caught sight of her cape on occasion, a red smear against an otherwise unremarkable cloudy day.
Since arriving at their vantage point behind a cluster of rocks nearest to the building’s south-facing entrance, Brainy had been focusing most of his concentration on the information he’d stored to his tablet, pulling data from Alex’s research and offering his own expertise on leads she’d been marking out in real time without needing to be physically present himself.  The distance was certainly more of a strain than he was used to, but he enjoyed the challenge. At least it kept several of his thought tracks busy while they avidly waited for their next instruction.
Albeit, he had to admit that he had reserved several more for Nia.
Despite her best efforts, Nia Nal had yet to learn from Brainy’s old mistakes. She revelled in the action that came with a physical fight, but often struggled with the slower strides that came before it. It was about now that she would have normally given up trying to sit still and meditate on her visions, instead throwing herself into physical exertion such as fidgeting or pacing to kill the time.
But no dust was being kicked up in her steed, because Nia Nal was still perched on the rock closest to Brainy, disquietly reticent as she stared into her lap. She hadn’t spoken since they’d arrived, not even to lean over his shoulder and offer her input on his research as he so often enjoyed. They could bounce ideas between each other endlessly when left to their own devices, filling the space between action with easy conversation. Today, however, Nia was suspiciously inactive.
Brainy’s hand stilled halfway across his tablet, glancing up to Nia with hesitant concern. After a quick external review, he could conclude that there was nothing wrong with her physically. She wasn’t sick or injured, or even just bored. There was something else, a faraway look in her eye that may have alluded a dream state if it wasn’t for the frustrated furrow in her brow, deepening the crease across her nose. A twitch curved the corner of Nia’s lip as she blinked suddenly, rubbing irritably at her face.
“Hey,” Brainy said softly. He discarded the tablet swiftly, reaching out for her knee instead. “You okay?”
Nia sagged forward just as Brainy’s hand made contact with her leg. She cupped her chin in her hands, shaking her head. “I’m not sure, actually,” she admitted, her voice muffled between her fingers. “I feel kinda woozy. It’s hard to explain.”
Brainy squeezed her knee. “You can tell me.”
Nia nearly smiled at that, and Brainy felt the urge to smile along with her. She sobered quickly, her eyes travelling elsewhere again. “I guess it’s… it’s like a vision wants to happen, but it won’t. It’s just making me feel really out of it.”
Any pockets of thought previously delegated to background tasks promptly turned their attention to Nia’s plight. Brainy eyed her worriedly. “Will you be alright to do this?”
Nia’s hands clenched suddenly in her lap. “I have to.”
Brainy straightened at once at Nia’s tone, his concern for her shifting instead to understanding. He hadn’t heard that tone of voice often, but enough to know that, when he did, it was something well beyond the realms of the waking world compelling Nia to speak her certainty. Her words may as well have been a prophecy in their own right, and Brainy knew it was imperative that he heed them justly.
Brainy put more effort into conversation after that, hoping to lessen some of Nia’s burden. If she was failing to make progress connecting with her gift for any reason, then he at least hoped he could provide her with a worthy distraction.
It appeared to work for a time. Nia soon began to relax into the safety net of their easy back-and-forth, edging closer to his side enough that their legs brushed together. She even managed to snatch his tablet from him when he wasn’t looking, scrolling through Alex’s notes when she started to itch for something to fiddle with. They huddled together after that, studying the notes as one, although Brainy could tell that the fog was still plaguing her. Even so, her resilience was – as always - unparalleled. To an untrained eye, nothing may have appeared wrong at all.
But Brainy knew Nia better than he knew himself, and the weight that she carried was not an easy one to disguise.
Eventually, the call came through to their comms. Alex had determined the layout of the warehouse and, subsequently, the most probable location for where the hostages were being held inside. With Brainy and Nia’s help, they’d additionally simulated likely vantage points the aliens would make use of with their weaponry, using range and distance as a primary factor. It may not have been quite as in-depth as a full x-ray of the building, but it was enough to make their entrance known.
Kara was called in to enter from one of the windows on the north side of the building. With Nia and Brainy covering the south side, they could meet in the middle and join forces from there.
Brainy maintained a thought track for Nia’s movements the second they headed for the entrance - a half raised shutter that needed some force to pry all the way open. She was his partner in more than one sense of the word, he hardly needed to think at all to know where she was. And yet, as he and Nia ducked beneath the shutter together, Brainy couldn’t keep a bubble of worry from lodging in his throat. If Nia’s precognition was in any way compromised right now, her usual fighting technique would shift to accommodate for that loss. This wouldn’t make her any less capable, but he’d need to make several adjustments to his own stance to match hers.
It was only moments later that he realised he needn’t have worried.
Nia’s physical prowess with her powers outshone any limitations she may have faced without her visions. While she used her lasso to pull the weapons from the arms of the alien captors running towards them from the centre of the building, Brainy flew ahead to the metal beam holding up part of the grated ceiling where three aliens were attempting to spray their fire. Their surprise slowed their reaction timing just enough that Brainy was able to disarm two of them immediately, deflecting the third’s weapon with a raised forearm before it could discharge against his chest. Enabling his strength enhancement to warp the barrel of the gun, Brainy threw what remained aside, using his free hand to twist the alien’s arm towards him, forcing them to their knees.
Beneath him, Nia had knocked out the last of the primary guards who had been waiting for them, the glow of her hands a rival to his own life projectors in the low light.
They continued on as a unit after that, though Brainy kept a half step behind Nia as they moved deeper into the building, adamant to have her in his line of sight at all times. Whether Nia noticed, she didn’t say, but soon they were far too consumed with the next wave of alien guards to give it any acknowledgement.
By the time Kara had joined the fray, they’d left a tangle of unconscious forms in their wake from one side of the warehouse to the other. Brainy made a private note for later to retrieve some of the weapons for further study. He was sure Lena would be first in line to try and dissect such unique technology, especially ones with such an unusual signature.
“Alex said it was right up here,” Kara said, falling naturally into the lead of the impromptu line they’d formed.
“Awesome,” Nia said, the lack of enthusiasm in her voice not quite as unsubtle as she likely thought.
Brainy waited a nano-second for Nia to follow along before he moved up behind her, holding her in his periphery even as his eyes began to wander, logging everything he saw for later recall.
The warehouse was a vast series of large, empty rooms, long-since cleared out of any distinct features or machinery that may have marked it for a certain purpose. Perfect then, he concluded, to reconfigure into the optimum holding cell.
The thought had barely crossed his mind when he heard it. Something up ahead – a tinny, high-pitched hum that wrought havoc with his heightened senses. He hissed, cupping a hand over his ear at the same time as Kara.
“What is it?” Nia asked.
“What indeed,” Brainy muttered through his teeth, eyeing the space ahead of them carefully. “Kara? Can you see anything?”
Kara squinted. “There’s… there’s something up ahead. Movement.” Her eyes widened suddenly. “People.”
“The hostages,” Brainy and Nia said together, catching each other’s eye. Another smirk quirked the edges of Nia’s lips and she nodded at him, falling into a jog as he quickly caught up to her side.
They didn’t need to travel far to find the source of the sound. Just as Alex had predicted, the heart of the warehouse was exactly where they had needed to go.
Encased in a bubble at the centre of the room were a group of terrified aliens. They varied in age, though Brainy could see at their youngest a few that could have been teenagers amongst the group. This variant of the species had a pattern of brightly coloured pink spots that dusted the edges of their jaw and throat, matching in both vibrancy and shade to their large, glowing eyes. The spots on the guards Brainy had knocked down had all been orange, their eyes just the same. Aside from that, there were very little physiological differences between the two factions.
The energy bubble was mostly transparent aside from a sickly yellowish hue that softened the outlines of the captives inside. Brainy frowned, watching small refractions of light roll across the bubble like a wave, travelling further and further until they slipped suddenly out of sight behind a large metal disk clamped tightly to the ground.
There were three further identical disks fitted to the base of the bubble along the entire outer edge, perfectly equidistant from one another.
They were also, unquestionably, the largest source of energy output from anything within the entire building.
“That’s what was giving off the energy signature,” Brainy realised out loud. “Not the weapons… but this. Sprock, I should’ve known.”
“No one could have,” Nia said immediately. “Brainy, you couldn’t have accounted for everything, not when we hardly knew anything to begin with.”
“Even so,” Brainy muttered in distaste, studying the disks with analytical interest. He took a step forward, only holding himself back when he ran the risk of crossing past Nia. He bit his lip. “This shield, it’s quite impressive. Look.” He pointed the disks out one by one. “It’s being projected from multiple locations, but each one with enough power to create a bubble in of itself. It’s multi-layered, four times over. If we can deactivate them all, we should be able to disperse the force field.”
The aliens on the other side didn’t seem to hear him, but some of the younger ones had been watching his mouth move. They shouted words back at him, but Brainy was unable to read their lips  in return. He wasn’t sure they were speaking a language he recognised at all. He turned to Kara curiously. “Can you--?”
She shook her head. “Not a peep. It’s completely soundproof.”
“Then it’s best we get to work as soon as possible,” Brainy said. He motioned for Kara to head towards the furthest disk, waiting for Nia to do the same before he followed up behind her.
Except, Nia didn’t move.
“Nia?” Brainy prompted.
Again, Nia didn’t respond.
Hesitantly, Brainy came closer, waiting for any sign of acknowledgement from his girlfriend.
None came. It was as though she’d been frozen in place, her arms stiff and unmoving at her sides, one foot held firmly in front of the other, caught and grounded mid-step. She was staring out at something, Brainy realised, but nothing he could see for himself.
Something was wrong.
Brainy knew Nia’s vision stance - how it looked, how it felt to see it happen so suddenly from an outsider’s perspective and this… this wasn’t it. Nia wasn’t beyond her second sight, traversing the unconscious realm. Instead, she was fully planted in the moment, an alertness bright behind her eyes, extending her senses outward, far past the capabilities of the human mind, firing neurons at sure-fire speed.
Whether Nia knew it or not, something was holding her in place – guiding her, maybe, or perhaps…
It was only then that Brainy realised what he was looking at.
“Stop!” the word was out of his mouth before his mind had finished calculating the outcome. He threw his hand out towards Kara. “Don’t take a step further!”
Kara stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes wide with confusion. “But you literally just said—”
“I know what I said, and I was wrong. It’s a trap.”
“What?”
Brainy wasn’t sure how, wasn’t even sure why, but he knew it. As surely as Nia did. The look in her eyes could only mean one thing.
He turned back towards the force field, capturing the aliens behind it in a new light. Their mouths had turned ugly; fine, pin-prick teeth bared at them all as they spat vulgar words in a language he was somewhat grateful he couldn’t translate.
It appeared the so-called hostages were hostages no longer.
It still didn’t make sense. Why would they even be there at all if only to lure them to this spot? What did they know that he didn’t?
Oh.
Brainy saw the metal disks with fresh eyes, identifying them for what they were behind their non-descript cone sized shells. The high pitched humming hadn’t been coming from the force field, it was coming from within the disks, not as an extension of the energy it outputted, but rather hiding the characteristics of what lay inside.
The energy signature they’d been tracking this whole time had been…
“They’re bombs,” Brainy realised.
He only had one thought left - the only one that mattered. He surged forward as quickly as he could, grabbing Nia’s unresponsive arm and dragging her with enough force to spur a lethargic stagger from her frozen legs. “We need to go. Now.”
Nia was too stiff to move with any real speed and with time of the essence, Brainy didn’t have the luxury of waiting to see if she’d snap out of it naturally. Instead, he scooped her up into his arms, ignoring the alien rigidity of her body as he tucked her head beneath his chin. He shifted her into a more comfortable position, ascertaining he had a secure grip before locking eyes with Kara.
Thankfully, she understood immediately. With a single nod of acknowledgment, they took off together.
Just in time as well, because the moment Brainy launched from the ground, a piercing crack roared out from the force field behind him. He could smell the distinct snap and sizzle of something metallic singe the air before an explosion ruptured behind him, all but propelling he and Nia forward, hot air scorching across the back of his suit as the blast rung sharply in his ears.
They tumbled from the window Kara had first used to enter with little grace, spilling out across the sand and dirt, rolling over one and another as the once-warehouse behind them bent and warped beneath its own weight, creaking and groaning as the old metal failed to contain itself, collapsing inward as the scream of the explosion settled somewhere at its heart, sending shockwaves through the sand.
Brainy’s chest heaved sporadically as he pushed himself from Nia the moment they were grounded, brushing her hair back fiercely. He’d managed to shield her from the brunt of the explosion, protecting her from the collision with the ground with his own body as armour, and even still he feared the worst.
He cupped her face desperately, a sob of sheer relief catching in his throat when he heard her heartbeat, as resilient as ever, beyond the ringing of his own ears.
“Nia,” he said, trying to still the tremor in his voice. “Nia Nal, can you hear me?”
Dust and soot were smeared across Nia’s face, shadowing her eyes. Her lashes fluttered hard at the sound of his voice, trying desperately to breach the surface of her own consciousness. She groaned softly, reaching her hand out, brushing the tips of her fingers over Brainy’s face. They still felt electric with her energy, a jolt of static that caused an incomprehensible laugh to bubble from Brainy’s chest.
“What happened?” Nia croaked out. She cringed, trying to hold her eyes open.
Brainy only laughed harder at that, ducking his head towards her throat, closing his eyes to subdue the burn that followed.
“Uh, Nia,” Kara answered in Brainy’s steed, brushing her suit down as she stared up in awe at what little that remained of the warehouse. “I think you just saved our lives.”
“Cool… cool, totally meant do that.” Nia’s chest jerked a little beneath Brainy’s chin as she coughed, clearing her throat with strained effort. “Uh… how did I do that?”
------------------
Nia hardly remembered the journey back to the Tower.
She’d flown with Brainy, letting him cradle her close to his chest, protecting her from the high-speed gale that had threatened her hair and face at such an altitude.
It wasn’t usually as cold when they flew together, but she supposed they’d never needed to travel this far at such a strict pace before. Maybe that’s why she didn’t remember much - the whole trip barely felt like seconds.
She was still a little out of it an hour later. By then, she, Brainy and Kara had crowded down in the Tower’s cramped lab space, laying out pieces of debris that they’d managed to salvage from the site of the explosion.
She really wasn’t sure what had happened, exactly. One second, she’d been listening to Brainy explain the purpose for those weird disk things on the ground… then everything sort of stopped. She remembered that woozy feeling from before creeping back up on her, fogging up her head. Then, something had triggered deep inside of her, like an alarm only she could hear. It hadn’t made any noise, though. Instead, it had instilled a sense of foreboding so strong that she’d locked into place. Like a flash frozen statue right out of the Fortress.
Everything else came up blank after that – at least until she’d awoken in the sand with Brainy’s wide, panic-stricken eyes staring down at her.
She rolled her shoulder experimentally. Yup. Still no pain. Brainy had taken the brunt of the hit when they’d fled the explosion, and even though the nano fibres in his suit were already repairing some of the damage, there was still a nasty singe mark across his back, corroding the fine ends of his golden hair to charcoal. He didn’t seem to be in any pain, at least. The last thing she’d wanted was to get him hurt because of her. Because of yet another power that she seemed to have zero control over…
It was strange, she’d never felt anything like it before. At least, never that strong. She’d frozen in the past, even lost time, but she’d always attributed it to her visions messing her up.
Now, she wasn’t so sure.
“I still don’t understand,” Kara was saying, drawing Nia unwillingly back into the room. She’d been pacing up and down the lab as Brainy worked, worrying her lip so hard that Nia thought Kryptonian levels of friction burn was about to tear it off. “Was this just one big ruse?” She laughed darkly. “Were there even any hostages to begin with?”
“Hostages to the cause, maybe,” Brainy conceded, glancing up from the scattered shrapnel that littered his workbench. “Everyone involved in this ruse believed in what they were doing. It seems whatever differences these factions had, they had one thing in common.” He eyed her warily. “A severe distaste for all things Super Friend.”
“Us?” Kara asked, snorting her indignation. “And they were willing to sacrifice themselves for this?”
“Not exactly.” Brainy straightened. “In fact, I don’t believe they were ever in any danger at all.” He moved his hand swiftly, tossing something out to her. “They left with one of these.”
Kara caught it immediately, her hand blurring around the projectile. She stared at it in confusion.
Nia looked too. It was extremely battered, whatever it was, and very much exploded, but it looked like it might have been some sort of bracelet in its heyday.
Nia slipped from her stool curiously, lifting her head. “What is it?” she asked.
Brainy turned to her with a small smile, privately pleased that she’d joined in with the conversation. He folded his arms over his chest. “Crude portal technology,” he explained. “Less refined than Lena’s watch design, but just as effective. They must have left just before the explosion. There’s more.” He pressed a finger to his temple suddenly, his eyes scanning unseen information from left to right. He stiffened, turning to Kara gravely. “I’ve just received results in from the scan the DEO are running of the explosion site,” he said. “When those devices detonated, they released thousands of splintered shards of Kryptonite from each shell.” He blinked out from the details he’d been presented with, holding his fist loosely to his chest. “If even a piece had pierced your skin during the explosion…”
“I would have been just as vulnerable to the building’s collapse,” Kara realised. She stumbled to a halt. “If we’d been caught in that, we really never would have made it out.” She stared at Nia, dumfounded. “How did you know?”
Nia cringed. “I… didn’t,” she said, frowning. “I mean, I guess I did? Sometimes I just get a bad vibe about something and I lock up. It’s never felt like this before, though. I don’t even remember doing this, to be totally honest.”
“A latent effect of Naltorian precognition,” Brainy mused, a mark of appraisal in his eye. “The more at one a Naltorian becomes with their powers, the more naturally they interact with fragments of the future.”
Nia smirked, tipping her head gratefully towards her boyfriend. “What he said. It sounds cooler.”
Brainy’s expression softened as he walked towards her, twisting his ring finger contemplatively. “What you did today saved all of us,” he said, running his hand up her arm the moment he was within reaching distance. “Thank you.”
Nia’s face warmed, leaning into his touch appreciatively. “Any time.”
Kara, unsubtle as ever, cleared her throat loudly, clapping her hands together. “Okay, well, I guess I’ll go give the bad news to Alex, then,” she announced, backing towards the open arch. “If those aliens are still out there, there’s no telling what they’ll do next to get our attention.”
Brainy, clueless as ever, raised a brow in question. “That isn’t necessary, I can relay the information directly to her. I can do it now—”
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it,” Kara said hurriedly, already halfway across the training room. She threw a wink over her shoulder. “Some things are better delivered in person!”
Brainy watched her go, utterly perplexed. “I suppose that’s true…”
Nia bit her cheek, bumping his arm with her shoulder. “I think she just wanted to give us some time, y’know, alone…”
“Ah.”
“Yeah.”
Brainy leaned in a little closer at that indication, his dark eyes flickering across her face with barely disguised concern, searching for any inconsistences. Nia was pretty sure he’d find some; after all, she was still rattled from everything that had happened. At least the weird daze she’d been walking around in was starting to lift, like whatever she’d done back at the warehouse had knocked the consciousness right back into her.
More importantly, it looked a whole lot like Brainy knew that, too.
Nia squinted at him suspiciously. “So,” she said, drawing out the word just long enough to make him uncomfortable, “how long have you known I could do this?”
Brainy’s hand stilled across her shoulder, his eyes skirting to hers a little unwillingly. He scoffed unconvincingly, suddenly finding the circumference of his ring much more appealing than checking her over for an underlying concussion. “I didn’t know,” he said, glancing away. “Not with a one hundred per cent certainty, at least.”
Nia laughed, jabbing his chest. “I knew it,” she cried. “How? No, no, wait, lemme guess; the future, right?”
Brainy’s jaw hardened in defeat. “It is true that Nura did display a similar ability back in the Legion.” He pointedly ignored her as she continued to prod at his suit smugly. “Naltorian abilities can develop very differently dependant on the element they inherit. You have already become so well adept with your abilities, there had always been a chance that this particular power might never manifest.”
“But now it has,” Nia said. She loosened her hand against Brainy’s front, searching out the heat of his closest life projector. She smiled when Brainy blushed in kind, winding his hand around hers. Not to deter her, but to guide her.
Nia blinked away from the trance-like state of that soft, enticing glow. “Wait. Is this power going to get me in trouble?” She looked up at her boyfriend seriously. “Like… what if Cat’s in a really bad mood one day and I just freeze up right in front of her?” Her face fell abjectly. “She’d never take me seriously again!”
Brainy’s lips twitched fondly. “Although I don’t dispute that Cat’s moods are a force to be reckoned with, I wouldn’t expect this power to manifest again unless you were in a true life or death situation.”
“You never know with Cat Grant,” Nia said gravely.
She and Brainy shuddered at the same time, but there was a playful affection in Brainy’s eyes.
She kept trailing her fingers around his life projectors for a time, content to idle while he finished checking her over for any possible side effects or injuries that might have been overlooked. She didn’t think he had to worry. In fact, since they’d started talking, she was really starting to get her energy back.
“So tell me,” she said with a grin. “This power. Does it have a name in the future?”
Brainy smiled privately, like he was in on a joke that she didn’t know. “Officially no, however Nura did pen a name for it.” He leaned in close, as though to share an important secret. “She called it The Stare.”
Nia snorted, holding her mouth closed. She hummed thoughtfully, drumming her fingers across her lips. “The Stare, huh? Simple, but intense. I kinda like it.”
“I thought you might.”
Impulsively, Nia’s eyes lit up and she quickly pecked Brainy on the cheek. A further blush deepened the green in his complexion.  Nia grinned. “Thank you,” she said in explanation. “For getting me out of there today. Sensing danger’s not worth anything if you can’t even respond to it.”
“You will learn in time to become more conscious of it,” Brainy promised. He took her hand again, squeezing it tightly. Nia squeezed back, ducking her head towards his, closing her eyes. A crackle of dream energy rolled over her knuckles, enveloping their clasped hands in blue flame. “But, as always,” he told her gently, “I will have your back, Nia Nal.”
Nia opened her eyes, her smile fading from her lips. “Wait. This means more training, doesn’t it?”
Brainy didn’t need to say a word, she could see the humour in his eyes already.
“Nooo,” Nia groaned, tipping her chin towards the ceiling. “Promise me we’re not doing 5am starts again, okay? No amount of coffee or breakfast burritos will ever make me okay with 5am starts. Dreamer needs her sleep!”
Brainy nodded innocently, bumping his forehead against hers. “Duly noted.”
Nia only scowled, though she still found herself leaning into his touch reflexively. "That wasn't a promise, Brainy!"

Request: omega kara (with or with out powers) gets taken by someone who hates her alpha
Ship:supercorp
The whiskey burned on Lena’s throat, the usual suave touch a harsh reminder of her failure. The crystal cup trembled on the glass desk of her office, and it took her a moment to realize she was the one shaking.
"Mrs. Luthor?" Jess’s voice followed the soft knock. Lena didn’t respond at first, taking another sip of the Glenmorangie. "You asked to be informed of any developments?" Jess added, and Lena was on her feet in a second.
"Did the D.E.O. find her?" She asked while throwing the door open, and her secretary barely flinched at the half-drunk move.
No one blamed Lena for any of this; she was already excellent at blaming herself.
"We got an update from the DEO, yes," Jess said, checking the tablet in her hands, "it seems they have located Supergirl."
Jess was part of the small, selective group of people who knew the true identity of Lena’s wife. "Is she okay? Is she alive?"
If Jess saw desperation in Lena’s eyes, she didn’t comment on it. "Dr. Danvers said she is alive, but the situation escalated to a hostage exchange. They are asking for you."
Lena had her own team deployed to track Kara, but of course the D.E. Fucking O. had found her first. "I’ll be there ASAP. Get my helicopter ready."
"It’s on the roof waiting for you, ma’am."
Gods, this girl deserved a raise.
Lena was either too exhausted or too drunk for small talk, so as she entered the D.E.O. war room with a small visitor badge, she zeroed in on her sister-in-law. "Where is she?"
Alex shared her agony, so she kindly ignored Lena’s alcohol breath and recited the main points of Kara’s abduction.
Ambush. Kryptonite. An alpha posing as Lena, a bait.
"How did Kara fall for that?" Lena asked as Alex recounted the tale. "She would have noticed the difference in the scents."
"They had your clothes," Alex explained, "and I’m willing to bet Kara didn’t want to risk it."
"What do they want?"
At that, Alex finally took a breath. "L Corp research experiments. Apparently, this is not the kind of thing your PR team likes to handle."
"How do they even know what we have?" Lena sat down on one of the chairs. She was a mess, and she knew it. It had been 48 hours since Kara’s disappearance, and Lena was not dealing well with it.
"Lena." Alex knelt next to Lena’s chair, one hand on her thigh. If there was one thing Alex and Lena bonded over, it was the fact that they would do anything to keep Kara safe. "We know who has her."
"Who?" Lena spat the word with venom, though she already knew. There was only one person in this whole world who hated her enough to target the most precious thing in her life.
Alex pressed a button on her tablet and turned it to show Lena. Lena felt bile on her tongue at the short clipped video.
"Lena!" Lex greeted the camera, his beard immaculate, though his cream suit had a blood stain. "You have something I want, and I," he turned to show Kara behind him, her arms raised and bound in a sickly green glowing chain, "have something you want. I’m sure we can make a deal."
He continued to talk, but Lena’s attention was limited to Kara. Her face was swollen, her lips split; Kara was not used to being hurt, and her face contorted in pain.
Lena looked up at Alex and saw the hardened stare, and then and there, there was another promise between the alphas.
Lex was not getting out of that alive.

T.I.P. - Pt.4 (End Chap 1)
CW list A number of buildings, buildings of all kinds, started being blown sky high. The one commonality was Phantom. The DEO was pressuring the League to intervene. By their account he was involved in Meta trafficking and incredibly dangerous. (Too dangerous for them to deal with.) By all on scene accounts he was definitely doing something, but the damage was surprisingly minimal. Many of the buildings were reportedly abandoned. Some had even been marked to be condemned. It was suspicious but it maybe wasn’t as malicious as the DEO made it out to be. The League was starting to have reason to doubt their versions of the story after Amanda Waller took charge.
The League ramped up efforts to gather intel. Trying to speak to the elusive Phantom and the young lady working behind him. Hopefully get ahead of whatever they were doing before another building was forcibly converted into a crater. The girl had been a case that the Young Justice team was following. A Meta, and reportedly named Suzie, though Phantom called her Secrets. They had little else.
Somehow they only really arrived to the commotion in time for cleaning up and too short notice to gather a proper team. The couple of times they got there before Phantom was done clearing out he had managed to keep everyone too occupied to intervene. They were always in the wrong spot to see anything and he was good at managing their movement. He had the opportunity to do more than knock out some of them more than once. It looked like he might have been able to go toe-to-toe with Superman in strength, but kryptonite did nothing. He never said much but he looked tired.
He looked tired when asked if he was being coerced. He said no. When asked if he was working alone, his answer was yes, though they knew that wasn’t true. J'onn also wasn’t able to read his thoughts, though he did sense him to be not only tired, but also sad, frustrated, and maybe a bit afraid.
The DEO was unwilling to share any information they had, even on Secrets who’d been a resident of one of their orphanages. The DEO was also getting impatient with the caution of the League. They, and by extension the GIW, started carefully fortifying locations that might become targets, trying to balance maintaining the League’s naivety to their activity and stopping the destruction from continuing. If more important locations were found it could lead to their systems getting compromised. Danny was used to all the old tricks, but the GIW were planning a trap.
Masterpost
AN: I've decided this would probably be a good spot to have as the first chapter. I've already gone back and changed a couple small things for AO3 and I've written some more for upload here. I don't think my writing will be outpacing these uploads without some serious inspiration, but I am having fun doing it this way. Thoughts welcome!

𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫-𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 - 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐈𝐈
𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐱 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 / 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐱 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫
Tumblr media
ᕚ---ᕘ
The Superfriends and several other DEO agents gathered in the DEO's bullpen, their faces marked with determination. J'onn, as the leader of this mission, led the meeting. "We have evidence that y/n was forcibly taken to another dimension. Winn and Lena found particles in Kara's apartment that indicate a portal."
Winn nodded and began tapping a holographic representation of various dimensions, which he then made appear on the nearby monitor. "Based on the tracks and energetic patterns we found, I believe she must have crossed over into a parallel dimension."
Lena, her brow furrowed in worry, continued Winn's initial sentence. "There are many dimensions, hundreds. And there are magical portals that allow you to travel between individual dimensions. But we have to find exactly the right one to bring y/n back. The human body genetics are not attuned to other dimensions and if we take too long it can have dire consequences for her."
Winn studied maps and data for signs of anything unusual while Supergirl and the others talked about what the chances were of finding the right portal before he found anything. "It appears that these dimensions are all unstable. There are energy fluctuations that suggest they are not naturally occurring. Someone or something is behind this."
"Can you locate the portal?" the Martian asked and the young man began typing furiously on his keyboard, analyzing more data. "Yes, I can trace and locate the portal's trail. However, it moves through different locations, making it difficult to search, but there is a pattern."
"Good, then let's not waste any time. We have to get y/n back unharmed. Where do we start?" Supergirl was impatient and the chances of her survival in other dimensions made her increasingly tense. She looked at everyone gathered at the round table and waited for the technician's answer on this matter. "Your apartment."
The Superfriends set off, ready to solve the mystery of your whereabouts. They followed the traces of the portal into Kara's apartment, while the magical energies revealed their presence in her living room. Winn positioned himself in the center of the room, the device in his hands beeping in a monotonous sound. "This is where the energy flow seems to be strongest. I'm opening the portal right at this point, get ready."
Everyone involved nodded in unison before positioning themselves a little further to avoid being caught in the first strong vortex of the approach. Winn, with the simple knowledge of his trade, opened the colorful portal, the stream of mixed air forming a strong suction. "There it is, we have to get through it!"
J'onn was the first to walk through the portal. The others followed cautiously, ready for any surprise on the other side of the swirling and pulsating portal as they were carried into a world unlike anything they had seen before. The surroundings were strange, the sky an unreal dark blue and the trees streaked with strange shadows. The landscape was distorted, the colors gloomy and dark, and an eerie silence hung in the freezing air. This dimension seemed threatening and scary for everyone involved.
"Stay here. I'll give you a quick overview from above," the blonde breathed and tried to activate her flight power by jumping, but it was as if the gravity was different in this world. A mixture of confusion and concern spread through her. "My superpowers don't work here."
J'onn also felt the same. His shapeshifting abilities failed and he was unable to establish a telepathic connection with you. "The laws of physics are distorted here. We have to be careful and rely on our other abilities."
Winn, using his technical skills, tried to scan the structure of this dimension to see if this National City was built the same as what they knew. Meanwhile, Lena was also looking at her self-made equipment when she realized that her scientific instruments were also compromised, but they were hitting the traces of your DNA that she had previously borrowed from the DEO laboratory. "The dimension is playing with the laws of nature that we know. We have to adapt and proceed carefully, but I have a trace and it leads directly to her and Alex's actual apartment."
Kara, who knew every inch of the alternate dimension apartments, led the group through the strange looking and empty streets. And as they got close, she felt an eerie pressure in the air. Lena's technology also suggested that it was 90% certain that you were in there, but in relatively poor condition. "Something's wrong."
"Then we shouldn't waste any more time than we've already lost." J'onn ordered and carefully entered the apartment. The lights flickered dimly and the atmosphere was heavy. Not a second had passed when they took a step into it when a figure appeared in front of them that made the blood run cold in their veins.
It was Alex, but not the loving sister Kara knew. This red-haired woman had a cold look in her eyes, and her clothes were surrounded by a deep dark aura. “Where is y/n and what have you done to her?!” Supergirl asked, standing protectively in front of Lena and Winn, who had no combat experience.
The person addressed smiled mockingly and pointed to a captive person who was sitting motionless in a chair with magical and iron chains on his neck and wrists. Her gaze fell directly on you and your tired and exhausted figure, but your eyes met hers, in which there was a silent cry for help.
J'onn tried to make telepathic contact with you again, but it was as if there was an impenetrable barrier between you and him that he couldn't break through. Alex laughed darkly. "You can't do anything. Here I am the ruler and you are powerless. I'm sorry, but she's mine now."
The Superfriends now faced a tough challenge that tested not only their skills, but also Kara in the deepest ways. She stared at the woman as she maintained her defensive position and began to negotiate in a calm but firm voice. "Alex, please. We know that you have lost your wife and miss her dearly. But our y/n.. She doesn't belong here, she will die if she stays here any longer. This dimension is not meant for her!"
Alex smiled smugly and took long backward steps towards you. She knelt down in front of you, her fingers gently caressing your chin as she looked into your eyes. A veil of tears covered your eyes and you flinched away from her touch. "She will stay here and take my wife's place. Same character traits, same looks. I just have to train up the evilness in her."
While the redhead turned away from you, Lena took the opportunity and slowly crept into an adjoining room that led her directly to you. Supergirl didn't notice anything at first, but the other two men did and tried to keep Alex in check with distraction.
Lena quietly reached your side, but remained hidden in the doorway and whispered soothing words to you. "I'm here, honey. You just have to hold on a little longer."
You nodded slightly, restricted in your movements as your eyes reflected fear mixed with hope. Winn was currently watching the portal's activity on his monitor, keeping track of the time they had left before the portal would close forever. "It's now or never, guys. We don't have much time left." He whispered, pressing his statement.
J'onn drew attention to himself by walking towards her and threatening her in her personal space while Supergirl charged forward and incapacitated her with a well-aimed blow to the neck. Using his technical skills, Winn deactivated the energy sources of your bonds, which the redhead had enhanced with her powers, and the power on your neck that emanated from them began to fade.
At that moment Lena freed you from the chains and you gratefully threw your arms around her neck, barely able to hold back your tears. While the black-haired woman tried to calm you down, Alex was persistent and tried to recover from unconsciousness, but Supergirl kept her at a distance to keep you safe, placing the chains that had once adorned your neck around her. "She will not stay here but will leave this place. You will no longer have any power over her."
Lena stood at your side, a gentle smile on her lips as you slowly propped yourself up with Lena's help. You felt too weak, as if time in this dimension was sapping your strength, and she put an arm around your waist to help you walk. "Darling, how are you feeling?"
You tried to smile, but the exhaustion was clear in your eyes and face. "A little weak, but I think I'll survive. Thanks for saving me."
"The Superfriends always stand up for each other," the blonde suddenly spoke as she carefully stepped closer to you and gently pulled you into her arms, rubbing her hands soothingly over your back. "It's good to have you back."
"Thanks, Kara. For everything." You whispered imperceptibly and she let go of you, gently wiping tears from your cheeks that still seemed to be lost. "Not for that, you're family. But we have to be careful now, y/n/n. Returning from this alternate dimension will be very stressful on your body."
You nodded weakly and exhaled deeply. You leaned heavily on Lena as she slowly moved with you through the dark atmosphere. The air seemed to shimmer here and the surroundings seemed unreal and threatening to your eyes. The forces of this world pulled on you as if they were trying to devour your energy and you latched onto the black-haired woman wearily, the dizziness momentarily taking over you.
"We shouldn't stay here too long and move faster. The portal will close soon," said Winn, keeping a close eye on the surroundings while at the same time analyzing the remaining energy flows. Supergirl and J'onn were currently forming a protective barrier around you and Lena, feeling the strangeness of this atmosphere deep in their consciousness. "Not just because of that. It's been too long for Y/n, her body can't take it much longer. She's about to pass out."
"We have to hurry," Supergirl spoke composedly, her words swallowed by the murky air. "Y/n, we're almost there. Hang in there."
You nodded weakly and concentrated on moving forward step by step as the atmosphere continued to sap your strength. When you finally reached the portal, Lena sat on the floor with you and gave your exhaustion a break. The other two stood guard, ready for any unexpected turn of events while Winn took control of the technology. "I will ensure that no further portals can be opened into our dimension after we return."
Looking back on these negative experiences, your thoughts turned to the days you had overcome here. Only a warm hand from Lena on your shoulder let you out of them again, a touch of relief sparking within you when you saw a black vortex of wind open up in front of you.
Seconds later, you returned to the correct dimension. The swirl of paint closed right behind you and the young guy completed his job by locking it securely. It disappeared, and the eerie world of the alternate dimension was now safely locked away. You leaned against Lena, exhausted, before you briefly tipped over and J'onn caught you just seconds before you hit the ground. "She needs to get medical attentions immediately. I will fly her, meet me there.“
ᕚ---ᕘ
When you got to the medical department, J'onn immediately lowered you onto a stretcher and was happy to see that you were still conscious. Doctors immediately had their hands on you, trying to stabilize your condition with fluids and watching you to make sure you hadn't suffered any serious effects from the trip.
You closed your eyes briefly, not noticing when your real Alex reached the DEO's medical department, which she was allowed to leave a few hours ago, and quickly walked over to you before sitting down next to you. A relieved but also worried smile crossed her face as she gently stroked your hair and she carefully leaned over you, wrapping you in her arms. "Are you okay? Are you in pain? I missed you so much."
Returning the firm grip, you felt the love and concern that Alex felt for you and you also noticed that the burden was visibly lifted from your shoulders as you held her safe and sound in your arms. "I missed you too. And I'm fine. I'm just really tired and weak."
Suddenly you both let your emotions flow and she hugged you tighter, as if she could keep you close to her forever. You closed your eyes again, sheltered in her arms, feeling the familiar feeling of safety that only Alex could give you.
The silence in the room was only broken by the gentle breathing of both of you. Alex finally broke her silence, just whispering in your ear with a loving intensity. "I thought I had lost you. Thinking about it for the last few hours has been unbearable."
With the last of your strength you held her even closer to you, placing soft kisses on her hair as her head rested on your chest. "I'm here, babe. I'm with you again. Nothing will ever be able to separate us."
The redhead lifted her head to look deep into your eyes. Your eyes met, and in that moment the full depth of your love and the fears you had endured were reflected on both sides. "I love you so much," Alex confessed, her voice broken by emotion as tears began to dance on her cheeks.
You smiled, a mixture of happiness and gratitude filling your body. You lifted your upper body briefly and pressed a kiss on her lips, full of passion, tenderness and all the love and care that you felt and carried within you for her. The world outside the medical ward seemed to disappear for a moment and only your love mattered.
After reluctantly breaking away from your kiss, she placed her forehead against yours and enjoyed the closeness of you. "We've been through so much together," Alex whispered. "But that was definitely the hardest thing I've ever had to overcome."
You nodded in agreement and looked for her hand, linking it tightly with yours. "You are my rock, Alex. I am so grateful that you are by my side and it is so nice to be with you again, where I belong."
The tears of relief shone in Alex's eyes and their love was on full display. A smile played on her rosy lips. "And I'm grateful that Kara brought you back. I wouldn't have known what to do without you."
You gently wiped a tear from Alex's cheek and gave her another kiss on her wet cheeks. "We always found each other, didn't we? No matter what happens, we always end up back together."
The redhead lay down next to you in the empty space, her hand placed gently on your chest to feel the still slow but steadily improving heartbeat as she snuggled against you. Her head rested on your shoulder and so the two of you remained in your embrace, aware that an unbreakable connection existed in your hearts.
The Superfriends stood respectfully behind the glass as you shared one last loving kiss before falling asleep. The air seemed to be filled with love and warmth, and the others felt that they were witnessing a very special moment. They shared a moment of joy.

Finding Peace
This is for day 21 of Supercorptober
Fandom: Supergirl
Relationships: Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Lillian Luthor
Summary: Lex is actively trying to kidnap Lena while she is seven months pregnant. Lillian offers her protection but can Lena and Kara really trust her?
Word Count: 2,990
Lena was lying down on the bed and staring at the ceiling bored out of her mind. She hated being cooped up and unproductive. She has been stuck staying at the DEO 24/7 because Lex has made numerous attempts to kidnap her within the last week. She instinctively looked down and grabbed her pregnant belly. She worried that Lex was trying to get her in order to experiment on the babies. She had two more months in this pregnancy, and she vowed to protect the twins with every fiber of her being. She looked back up at the ceiling and sighed.
“I just wish one thing in my life could be normal,” muttered Lena.
As she continued to stare at the ceiling, she heard footsteps approaching her. She looked up and smiled when she saw it was Kara. However, her smile began to falter when she saw that Kara was approaching her with a frown on her face. Lena looked back at the ceiling in despair.
“Let me guess, Lex figured out where I am now.”
Kara sat on the bed next to her and gently grabbed Lena’s hand. She rubbed her hand softly.
“He has. He is currently trying to get through to the main entrance now.”
Lena felt tears in her eyes.
She turned to her wife and asked, “Do you think the security will hold?”
Kara sighed and said, “At the rate he is going, he will be able to break through within the next 15 minutes. That is why we are moving to plan D.”
Lena laughed sarcastically and said, “I thought that this was plan D.”
Kara looked down and caressed her face.
She looked solemnly at Lena and said, “Once I found out about the pregnancy, I realized that I would do anything to protect you and our little peanuts, even make arrangements with people that I hate.”
Lena frowned and asked, “Kara, what did you do?”
Kara looked away and said, “Your mother contacted me. She said that she is able to help.”
“How?”
Kara gradually guided Lena out of bed and into the main hallway.
As they walked, she said, “Your mother said that she has a place where Lex won’t look for us, and we can hide there.”
Lena raised an eyebrow and said, “I am surprised you are even considering anything from my mother.”
Lena and her mom had been getting along the last couple of weeks since they last saw each other in Chicago. She wants to believe that there is a possibility that her mother has changed. She just hoped that she was being genuine with her offer.
“We exhausted all of our other options. If she can keep you and the babies safe, that is all that matters to me.”
They walked a couple of more minutes until they got to the portal room. They walked over to the furthest portal station where there was a tech waiting for them.
“Where are you transporting us to?” asked Lena.
“Your mother gave us coordinates to a location. Several DEO agents did quick searches on the area and nothing out of the ordinary stands out. However, knowing your mother, she has whatever it is out there hidden in plain sight.”
Kara turned to the tech next to the portal and said, “Once we leave, erase the data from this portal station and the backup.”
The tech nodded and powered on the portal which showed a pinkish large circle.
Kara smiled softly and held up her hand. Lena smiled and gently grabbed Kara’s hand in hers.
“Are you sure about this?” asked Lena.
Kara smiled and said, “There is no one that I would rather walk into the unknown with.”
With that, they walked into the portal, hoping for the best.
****
When Lena and Kara arrived at their destination, they were both startled. Lillian was already standing there when they first arrived. That was expected. However, the unexpected part was the environment. They were in a one-room building. Other than the windows and the front and back doors, there were no other items in the room.
Lillian instantly went over to Lena and grabbed her hand.
“Are you and the babies okay?”
Lena nodded and said, “Thank you for giving us a place to stay.”
“Of course! I know how important it is to have a stress-free environment, and this is the perfect place for that.”
Kara looked around and said, “Well, that makes sense since there is nothing here.”
Lena turned to her mother and said, “Yeah, I know I wasn’t expecting the Ritz, but this seems rather tame even for you, Mother.”
Lillian smirked and said, “I can assure you this place is anything but tame.”
Lillian turned around and said, “Anna, initiate Purple Program 1238.”
The room suddenly got immensely bright with a white light for five seconds and then disappeared. When Lena's eyesight adjusted, she nearly gasped. They were no longer in the small room. They were standing in a forest-like environment. They were surrounded by lavender and trees that had purple leaves and fruit. The sky gave off a purple-like glow. She felt the warm breeze hit her face and engulf her in the scent of lavender. It made her feel tranquil. She turned and saw a light purple path behind them that led to a purple brick house covered in vines.
Lena turned to her mom and asked, “Where are we?”
“We are still in the same location. We are just using a holodeck now.”
“Like in Star Trek?” asked Lena with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes,” said Lillian.
Kara frowned and asked, “How is that possible? Earth’s technology is hundreds of years away from something that advanced.
Lillian smirked and said, “Earth is far behind, but our planet houses alien species from thousands of different planets. It is not really that surprising they would share some of their information with us.”
“Or stole,” muttered Kara.
Lillian just glared at her and Kara glared back.
Lena rubbed Kara’s arm which caused her to sigh and look away.
Lena turned to her mother and said, “This technology is very fascinating. Is this place based on something real?”

Dogs of Auldrant
Throughout the game, there are many different dog models seen in ports and in cities. This is a collection of as many as I could find and my best guess of what breed they may be! Long post!
There are four main interactable dogs that use the same floppy-eared model but slightly recolored. These models you can see in the towns, ports, and bays. Other "dog" models (three) can be seen in special locations.
Tumblr media
The first dog is the most common model seen in the game with four instances. To me, it honestly looks like a Borzoi. These dogs are also known as the Russian Wolfhound. As the name suggests, these dogs were used to help hunt wolves. This model can be seen in Akzeriuth, Belkend Port, Engeve, and Keterburg. While this dog can truly be anything from looks alone, using some other clues might help with this guess. The enemies around the locations of these dogs do help. Wolves are common around the Cheagle woods, Deo Pass, west Aberrian plains (Belkend area), Daath area, and Keterburg area. Almost everywhere wolves are, these dogs appear (except for Daath which does not have this dog). Borzois also can do well in cooler climates but will need a warm place for heavy winters.
The second is seen three times (from what I can find). It looks most like a Rough Collie (or a collie of some sort), specifically one with bent ears (though that detail is just because of the reused model). These dogs are bred for farm work like herding. This model can be found in Port Sheridan, Sheridan, and St Binah. No other dog that I have found in the game has such a distinct white band around its neck. While I do not know why this breed appears here rather than a town like Engeve, it is interesting to see another color pattern!
Tumblr media
The third coloration is tied in the middle with three instances. It looks either like a Labrador Retriever or a Golden Retriever. Both these dogs were bred to retrieve game and swimming. This model can be found in Daath (Fourth Stone Monument), Grand Chokmah. And St. Binah. Locations do not help much to pin down this breed. Grand Chokmah is on the water, Daath near the ocean, and St. Binah is nowhere near water. In general, Labs and Goldens are popular breeds of dogs, number 2 and 3 of 2023 according to the AKC. So, I would not be surprised if this dog happened to be one of these two breeds.
The fourth dog also shows up three times. This dog is the most recognizable out of all of them, a Dalmatian. These dogs were bred to walk alongside coaches and help hunt. This model can be found in Baticul (by the docks), Keterburg Bay, and Daath Port. Location can somewhat help as these dogs appear by the docks. These locations, aside from Baticul, require a fair distance of travel to reach their respective cities. It makes sense that these dogs are around locations where people need to travel once they land.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are three other "dogs" in the game. Peko is a named dog, and he is a Shiba Inu, just like his owner’s name. Honestly, the most on the nose dog there is on this list! The second “dog” is in the Sheridan Music Box house. It appears to be some sort of bulldog, my best guess is a French Bulldog! I say “dog” because I am unsure if this is a model for the machine or an actual dog. It doesn’t bark, whine, or anything. It only spins on this machine, and to my knowledge does not appear anywhere else. The third sort-of “dog” is an enemy in the game, the Theor Forest Watcher Wolf. It appears to have a collar and is domesticated for the Malkuth Military, so might as well add this ferocious good boy on the list!
I did not find any dogs in Belkend (city), Yulia City, Chesedonia, Kaitzur (town nor port), or the Desert Oasis. So, this is all I have for dogs. I did not search through every building or area. Feel free to add what you think these breeds are or if I missed anything! In the end, they're all certified good dogs!
