Things Kansas Farm Boy Clark Kent would actually say/do, as hypothesized by someone from Rural Central Kansas
bear with me, i am spitballing here so much
Kansans do the midwest “Ope, let me squeeze by ya’ there.”
Pronouncing Missouri like “Misery.” Kansans don’t like Missouri because of the bushwhackers who crossed the border to illegally vote pro-slavery when Kansas was still a territory. This is our modern revenge.
He wouldn’t have a strong twang, but people in Metropolis would definitely notice it.
Clark would probably put an inordinate amount of pepper on his scrambled eggs
Explaining the concept of “winter wheat” whenever someone asks why there’s green in the fields in October
One-finger farmer wave when driving. If you see people you know, you lift your pointer finger off the wheel.
Speaking of driving, he probably has been driving on his own since he was 14, which is when you can get a Farm Permit in Kansas.
Not necessarily related but Smallville definitely has a death board. Ours is in front of the post office, and whenever someone dies it displays the name, obituary, and funeral time and location so the little old people without internet can get there.
That’s my headcanon and I will Die By It
Anyways
“Well, K-State has been more of a football school for a while now, and obviously KU is better at basketball.”
“Oh, you’re from [rural school on the other side of the state]? Yeah, we ran against y’all in State Track when I was in high school, I think.”
“McPherson is not ‘Western Kansas.’ It’s not Western Kansas until there are less than five trees in your sight.”
Probably thinks beef tastes better in Kansas than in Metropolis
Would say “y’all,” Wouldn’t say pretty much any other stereotypical southern thing.
Probably can sing at least the first verse of “Home on the Range”
would call lunch “Dinner” and dinner “Supper”
idk that’s all i can think of right now

My DC Cinematic Universe: Superman (Part V)
Tumblr media
Chapter Five: A Support System
This section's gonna be a little different. Might seem kinda like filler at first glance, but it sort of is, in a way. After all, we'll need to fill out the normal everyday world of Clark Kent, and what better way to do that than with his supporting cast. Because Clark has quite a bit of supporting cast, and because we've got other things to focus on in this theoretical film, I'm not gonna go too in-depth this time. Buuuuuut, while this'll be light on character analysis, we'll still need to ask why these characters exist, and how they'll be seen in the film itself.
One more thing: we'll divide this section down by location, and I'll go into those locations just a little bit. After all, a city is its own character, so it makes sense to talk about the environments in which Clark normally finds himself. And so, without further ado...
Tumblr media
Smallville: Hometown Drama
OK, sing it with me now, SOMEBODY SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Smallville, Kansas is the town that made Clark Kent. It is and should be the most normal town in the United States of America. What I mean by this is that, unlike the TV series, Smallville, and even unlike the original Superboy comics, literally nothing should happen here. This should be an extremely average and boring place to live. I realize that that's probably a little boring, but...yeah. Fuggin' exactly. Smallville's biggest crisis should be that time the Johnson's cows got loose and interrupted the Smallville High homecoming game. And yeah, the official report was that the fence gate was left open, but everybody knows that Carl Draper snuck over and let them out on purpose just to mess with quarterback Kenny Braverman and the team. 'Cause, y'know, Carl blames Kenny for stealing Whitney Fordman from him, even though Whitney isn't even dating Kenny ever more since he started flirting with Lana Lang during-you get it, you get the idea, you get the point.
But, that said, there are a few people in Smallville who are a part of Clark's adolescent and adult life, so let's talk about them, as well as throwing them into this Cinematic Universe I'm making.
Tumblr media
Gotta start with Lana Lang, the girl next door. And I'd like to preface this by saying that the most famous version of this character, from Smallville, is the WORST FUCKING THING ABOUT THAT SHOW. Period. Nothing against Kristin Kreuk, she did well with what she was given. To bad what she was given was just a box of new Cap'n Crunch cereal variety called "Oops, All Cringe!" I fucking hate Smallville Lana Lang. Mostly because her overly dramatic life and persona are completely against who Lana Lang is. And who is Lana Lang?
Like I said, Lana is the girl next door. She and Clark are good friends, as well as unrequited love interests. And that's almost entirely on Clark, because Lana's not as timid or shy. And yes, Clark is extremely reserved in high school, mostly because he's nervous about exposing himself and being a freak. He was NOT the popular kid, and Lana absolutely was. But because Lana is genuinely a nice person with good morals, she really likes Clark. Like, she REALLY likes Clark. And yes, she was ABSOLUTELY his first kiss, and she absolutely initiated it. The Clark-Lana relationship should be sweet and cute, and the most stereotypical teenager love story you've ever seen. But, in the end, Clark went to Metropolis and she went else, and they parted ways. Oh, and for the record, Lana knows that Clark is Superman. Didn't figure it out until a bit after Smallville, but she absolutely knows, and she texted him IMMEDIATELY when she figured it out.
OK, who's next? In Smallville, the show creators gave Clark two best friends, so I think that makes sense here as well. In that case...
Tumblr media
Pete Ross, the childhood best friend! Ah, Pete, why do people remember and forget you simultaneously? You were a major supporting character in Smallville, but only for 3 seasons, then didn't appear again until season 7, and never after that. Which is super weird, considering the major role Pete had in the comics. The best friend of a young Clark, Pete Ross is also one of the first people to figure out Clark's secret, independently. In the comics, he figures it out and doesn't tell Clark until way later, but nah. Let's just make it a secret that the two of them share as kids; change things up a little.
My version of Pete is still best friends with Clark to this day. I realize that Jimmy Olsen often takes that role, but he'll be a little different in this universe. No, Pete is Clark's best friend, and I'm tired of people forgetting about him! Yeah, he made a small appearance in Man of Steel, but his role as support was shafted, in my opinion. Pete should be Clark's confidant, then and now.
In high school, Pete, Clark, and Lana are a trio of friends. They each roll in slightly different circles, though. Clark is the quiet loner who reads a lot (he's a library kid); Lana is definitely a theatre kid and a cheerleader; and Pete is the socially aware activist kid who always volunteers for various charity and conservation groups. He's one of the town darlings/annoyances. On a side note, why are the socially conscious activist characters in media always women? I dunno, it's a weird trend in media for some reason. Anyway, Pete will one day become a progressive senator for Kansas, with a lot of hard work and dedication. But for now, he's still Clark's best friend.
Tumblr media
Now, these two are the major support, but we can throw in some other main ones. How about Kenny Braverman, school bully? In the comics, he actually becomes a Kryptonite-wielding villain named Conduit, but this version of the character is a bully. Don't need much more than that; after all, this is a movie universe, not a TV series. How about Carl Draper? Draper is a weird one in the comics; he's basically a stalker who always hated Superboy/Superman, and made a giant death prison to kill Superman and impress Lana Lang, his high school crush. Yeah. Um...I'm just gonna make him another bully alongside Kenny, and a former friend of Clark's at the same time. 'Nuff said, I think.
And then, other than people like the Kents' neighbor Ben Hubbard...there isn't really anybody else to talk about. The name drop of Whitney Fordman up there was meant to be a reference to Smallville, but nothing more than...oh...oh, shit, Smallville. Right.
Tumblr media
Hoo boy, Chloe Sullivan. Again, given the fact that this is a movie and not a TV series, Chloe as a character really doesn't matter. a character created for Smallville, she was the journalism kid, as well as a cousin to Lois Lane, and meant to be the other girl next door love interest character for Clark. And she was played by...Allison Mack. Cult leader Allison Mack. Yeah. Yikes. So, I'll just say this: I like Chloe as a character and character concept, but she carries a LOT of baggage. So instead, we'll bring in character Billie Cramer, who is the same in concept, but named after a male character in the comics who later goes to Metropolis University with Clark. Sorry, Chloe. Allison Mack kinda fucked over your character for me.
From there, Smallville is basically covered. Small town, small stories, and not much happening. But still, the people there molded Clark. And so, by the time he heads out of Smallville, he'll be going into a much bigger world. And with that...
Tumblr media
Metropolis: City of Tomorrow
Where in the fuck is Metropolis? DC, you really need to make a decision here. Because the most common location for Metropolis is New York. Which, frankly, is dumb. New York has both New York City AND Metropolis? That's a lot of city for a small area, just saying. Plus, would Clark have wanted to go very far from home? So, where is my Metropolis? Easy: Illinois. "But what about Chicago," you say? Well, one, it's closer to Kansas, and Clark wouldn't want to be too far from home, for his parents' sake. Two, we can place the city along the Mississippi River, which forms the western coast of Illinois and gives us the water that we need for Metropolis. Three, this'll be at the very tip of southern Illinois, far away from Chicago, and in a place where no major city exists. And five, and most importantly for me, that's where the REAL Metropolis actually is. It is, in fact, maybe the real-world place that loves Superman the most. Let's give 'em some love back.
But OK, with that said and done, why Metropolis? Well, Clark wants to go to school for journalism, because he believes in uncovering the truth, and he wants to be in touch with all sides of humanity, both the good and the bad. Basically, journalism allows Clark to stay down-to-Earth in some very literal ways. And Metropolis University in this universe is a pretty big deal, especially considering that the city is the home to major newspaper The Daily Planet. After graduating from Metropolis U, Clark settles in the city and gets a job at the Daily Planet, his dream job. One of his colleagues is, of course, Lois Lane, but the people of the Daily Planet are an extremely important supporting cast. Considering Clark rarely goes anywhere else, we should talk about them a bit. So, we'll start with the most obvious.
Tumblr media
Jimmy Olsen, the new best friend! I was SO tempted to give Jimmy his own post, but this series is gonna be long enough; I dunno if I can talk that much about Jimmy. That's a lie, actually, because I can talk a LOT about him. Now, some of you may be wondering why I used this GIF of Olsen from Superman: The Movie, instead of Mehcad Brooks from Supergirl, or Aaron Ashmore from Smallville. And the reason is that NEITHER OF THEM WERE JIMMY. The latter was his older brother named Henry James "Jimmy" Olsen, which YES, is stupid. And the former? That is Jimmy Olsen in name only. And why? Because...ah, shit, I'm getting into Jimmy in detail. OK, then, let's do this.
Jimmy Olsen is a kid. He's a dweeb, he's kinda naive, and he matches Clark for sheer optimism. He's either the most likeable person in the room, or the most annoying, or somehow both simultaneously. He's not suave, like Mehcad Brooks' version of the character. Honestly, that's the least Jimmy Olsen-like character I've ever goddamn seen. You know who actually was a lot more like Jimmy? Winn. Winn was Supergirl's Jimmy Olsen, and I DEFY YOU TO TELL ME OTHERWISE.
Ahem. Anyway, back to Jimmy.
Tumblr media
Jimmy is the unpaid intern who gets hired, and is then surprised that there's a paid option for this job, despite that being his career. He's the kid in high school who took pictures of EVERYTHING, and then just never stopped. He's not entirely sure who the mayor of the city is, but knows in excruciating detail through experience and an overly detailed annotated map where the best goddamn hot dog in the city is, and every hot dog vendor in a ten-block radius knows him and his order by heart. Jimmy is a city kid who somehow seems like he came from the country. Jimmy should be a massive nerd, kind of a ditz, and definitely a clutz, but not only is he the best photographer the Planet has to offer, he's also somebody who you want to hang out with. Jimmy Olsen is maybe, maybe about to turn 21, but has not and will not drink. He is the most vanilla human being possible, and I goddamn love him for it. He's also gone through a TON OF INSANE SHIT in the comics, from being turned into a giant turtle Godzilla, to getting becoming a superhero in his own right MULTIPLE TIMES, to becoming the love-interest to a fledgling God for a hot second...a lot, is what I'm saying. Jimmy Olsen is my favorite Superman supporting character, and that is a hill I am glad to die on.
...Jesus. That was a lot of overly specific headcanon to vomit out, even for me. But really, all of that? That's my Jimmy Olsen. Clark's best friend in the city, even if he is a few years younger, as well as a damned good photographer and...well, a pal. There's a reason he's called Superman's Pal, after all.
Tumblr media
Perry White, the stern-but-caring boss! Editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, Perry's a strict traditionalist when it comes to this whole newspaper thing. Perry's actually had quite a lot of history in the comics, and while it is all genuinely interesting, I'm not gonna go into it here. Just know that Perry is a caring boss, but extremely strict when it comes to his job and those who write for him. One of the last great reporters and writers, as well as a genuinely good man with his own problems and troubles, Perry White is an understatedly important character in the Superman mythos. In truth, there doesn't need to be too much to Perry.
In terms of his relationship with Clark, he shouldn't be too involved with his personal life, but should be willing to offer advice if Clark looks like he needs it. He should choose his employees based upon their talent and their moral fiber, as he wants his reporters to find the truth, and nothing but the truth. If you lie, alter facts, or otherwise obscure the truth in your reporting, you're OUT, pal! And honestly, that's my Perry White: a classic reporter who expects only the truth from his employees and from himself.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the reporters of the Daily Planet, let's get into Clark's co-workers! Cat Grant is one of the best known, thanks to Power Girl, and as the gossip and fashion columnist, she makes her presence known basically immediately when she enters the office. While she's definitely a bit blunt, in person and in her writing, people actually do enjoy her blogs and writing, and she has a pretty good on-screen presence as well. She's a bit of an acquired taste, but Perry values her honesty. Also, she's a little bit of a rival to Lois in multiple ways, including initially for Clark's affection, but mostly in terms of her reporting and popularity. Cat Grant is considered by many to be the public face of the Daily Planet, and she doesn't shy away from that title, either.
Tumblr media
Steve Lombard made a VERY random appearance in Man of Steel, as was a very different version of the character than what we see in the comics. My version of Lombard is a massive blowhard, as well as the Planet's sports reporter, which aligns with the comic-book version of the character. He's hired by Perry because of his absurdly accurate sports reporting, and his sheer knowledge of the sport, as well as for his incredibly accurate predictions. The one downside about the dude is that he's the epitome of a meathead. His intelligence in in sports, and that's basically it. Still, he's VERY good at his job. Also, he THINKS that he's a rival to Clark for Lois' affections, but literally nobody else thinks that.
OK, last major person here is Ron Troupe, whom I can't find a GIF for. Makes sense; he's relatively obscure, and hasn't been in enough media for a lot of exposure. My version of Troupe is the politics and editorials writer for the Planet, as well as being one of the more serious and uptight members of the Planet bullpen staff. He tends not to go out into the field too much, but is well-known on paper. Perry hired him because of his objectivity and practicality, as well as a feverish devotion to the truth. And of everybody, Ron is the reporter most likely to succeed Perry White as editor-in-chief one day in this universe. YES! Not Lois, not Clark, RON. Somebody give Ron his day in court, please, he's way too neglected in comics and media nowadays.
Tumblr media
Let's get out of the bullpen, and into the city! Now, some people won't be featured in this first film, since it's a big city with a lot of parts to it. I actually do have some ideas for other films, but let's get through this first one before anything else. No cart before the horse, and all that. But since we're talking about the city, let's talk about Superman's predecessors: the cops.
The Metropolis Police Department, unlike the Gotham cops, are not corrupt and actually do their jobs. After all, Metropolis is a pretty safe city before Superman comes around. Supes definitely shouldn't be the savior from street crime, for should he be trying to replace the cops. Superman is there to stop the accidents, disasters, and large-scale crimes that the police can't handle on their own. This means that while the police are efficient, the villains of this movie are going to be a bit too much for them to handle. But, because Superman isn't a detective or a cop, he'll need to talk to and work with the police to stop these villains. So, who are our cops?
Tumblr media
The main liaison for Clark is Maggie Sawyer, a no-nonsense captain and leader of the newly-established Special Crimes Unit. As such, she's got a pretty good relationship with Superman. She prefers police work over relying on a vigilante, but Superman is hard not to trust in a lot of ways. So, she willingly works with him. Oh, and obviously she's happily married to her wife, Toby, who works for the Daily Planet alongside Clark. Maggie's one of the first out-lesbians in comics, and that ain't gonna end with me!
Maggie's the main policeman featured in this universe, but her partner Dan "Terrible" Turpin will also appear alongside her. Another hard-nosed detective, he grew up in the worst parts of Metropolis, and grew up to defend the parts of the city that don't get a lot of attention. Won't get too much of Turpin in this film, but we will use him to get across the idea that not all cops think Superman is necessary. He's not Superman's biggest fan, but he doesn't turn him away, either. Sort of like Harvey Bullock to Batman, if you get my drift.
Finally, I'll just mention that the chief of police is William Henderson, who respects Superman fine enough, and is on his way out, ready for retirement. Not much to say about Henderson, and he could honestly just be a name-drop by Maggie at some point. But with that, we move on to our final citizen of Metropolis...and one of my favorites.
Tumblr media
Meet the one and only Bo "Bibbo" Bibbowski. You might wonder why I included an image here when I didn't for Ron Troupe. And frankly, it's because Bibbo is too important. Because Bibbo, to me, is a representative of the civilian public that Superman is trying to save. The reporters of the Daily Planet are often putting themselves in danger in order to get the story, and they're supposed to remain objective. The cops are...well, the cops; of course they're in danger. But Bibbo is just...a guy. He was a sailor and former military man, he's a small business owner, and he's a guy on the streets of Metropolis. And, of course, he's Superman's biggest fan.
Now, that's not to say Superman only fights for those people who like him, and I actually want to reflect that through my version of Bibbo. Bibbo'll actually be one of the ways we start the movie, and how we're initially introduced to Metropolis. And because Superman is a fairly new figure in the city, he's not a fan when the movie starts. He's not an active detractor, but he isn't exactly a fan of anybody with power who places themselves above the little guy. And Superman does that literally, so why would he like him? Just another person playing dress-up and pretending to be hero. He listens to local shock jock Leslie Willis, who regularly expresses the same sentiments, but he's not as harsh as she is to Superman. He just doesn't really care for the guy. Over the course of the movie, we'll check in with Bibbo, whose establishment, the Ace o' Clubs, is a regular haunt of Jimmy Olsen and his friend Clark Kent. And so, Clark will get an idea of how Bibbo feels pretty early on, and he'll have to reflect on that.
However, over the course of the movie, Superman will act in ways that begin to change Bibbo's mind. As we check in on him over the course of the movie, the change in his attitude will be noticeable, if somewhat subtle throughout most of the movie. But then, the last time we see Bibbo, he'll be wearing his signature Superman shirt. Because by the end of the movie, Superman will have saved the "little guys" of the city, possibly even saving Bibbo directly. And that makes him considerably different than the other person in Metropolis with power who puts themselves above the city. That person, the real focus of Bibbo's ire...is the topic of the next entry in this series.

Lex is the son of Lionel and Lillian Luthor; he had a good relationship with his mother up to her death and doesn't share an ounce of love for his father, who has been abusive and judgemental of him from an early age, which prompted the loss of love between the two. Lex spent most of his time at a private school, only going home during the summer, where he was miserable. He finally gained independence when he graduated from high school and went to college, excelling in business, computers, and other subjects he was interested in. When he graduated from college, he went out to work for LuthorCorp. Still, because his and his father's ideals clashed, Lionel gave Lex a portion of LuthorCorp, located in Smallville, expecting Lex to fail. Still, Lex decided to use the resources to help Smallville pull it out from under Lionel's clutches.
Though Lex is only twenty-one years old, and despite his name, he has garnered a lot of respect, mainly from people who doubted him because of his name.
Lex is nothing like his father and wants to do good in this world, though his outlook on life changes when he meets Kara Kent, a girl who is everything but ordinary.
[Note: This Lex exists in an alternate version of Smallville]

Dose kon have friends ousted yj / at school
Yes! Not quite as many as like Tim had (someone had asked me for a list of Tim’s civilian friends a while ago and i never finished it bc damn that boy knows a lot of ppl. i’ll get around to that one day) but he’s got at least a handful of friends from each kinda era/location of his stuff! this is not the most comprehensive guide there's def some people left out here but i'm tryina give an Overview and also there's a limit on how many images i can include
in Hawaii/that first era of his solo:
Roxy Leech who is his agent’s daughter and someone he grew to think of as his sister! 💕 One thing later canon decided to forget about is the fact that they actually do become related on a genetic level when Roxy is used as a template to re-stabilize Kon when he was dying bc of stuff the Agenda did to him

(Superboy Vol. 4 #75)
The Ravers were a team Kon led, who went on some adventures! I am still currently reading this so I can't really speak to who his closest friends from here would be but I'd prob say Sparx since she's who got him involved in the Rave in general. She's a cool electric gal

2x11 tidbits
Well, that episode was....something else.
It was awesome; I’m not questioning that. It was just more emotional than I was anticipating. Let’s get to my favorite parts.
Opening scene got to the feels right out of the gate. You could really sense Barbara’s heartbreak.
Courtney’s weirded out-ness over seeing Joey Zarrick was so bittersweet.
Courtney and Cindy having that high school girl argument in the bedroom was honestly something I never knew I wanted until now. It was fun.
Dr. Midnite observing Courtney like a curiosity was cute. I’m glad she finally got to meet an OG JSA member.
“I believe he thought we were something like friends”. Aww...you know what, I think I like Dr. Midnite. He seems so pure and kind-hearted.
Jennie using her powers to locate Shade was super cool.
Barbara storming into the theater while Pat was like, okay, let’s just tread carefully....Mama’s on a mission.
Exasperated and tired Shade being all threaten-y and stuff, but you kind of got the impression that he was just blowing smoke. At least, I did. I don’t think he’d actually physically harm Barbara, which brings me to....
Barbara’s like, do your worst, and he suddenly gets up from his lounge and gets in her face all imposing like, “you know what?!” Then you see a hint of a smile, and he knows she got to him and won’t actually hurt her. Then we get an actual smile from him as he tells her that she does indeed remind him of his sister. MY HEART.  😍
Cindy facing her childhood trauma and Courtney comforting her, was, I admit, a poignant scene.
Okay, my favorite part of the episode: the Shadowland prison break. Seriously. Just all the awards to everyone in that scene, cast and crew included. The hands pushing through was superb cinematography, and the music...THE MUSIC. It was hauntingly beautiful. It was a terrific duel between hopeful and old-school horror movie. I got feels from that alone.
Charles and Pat hugging! Yea, Pat gets to see an old team member!
Shade getting closure with Dr. Midnite was nice.
Pat being concerned about Shade’s well-being was...interesting. A little unexpected, maybe.
Shade asking Barbara to tell the world that he died doing something right and Barbara with that look...😥 I have said a couple of times that I thought that the Shade would sacrifice himself to help save Courtney (more like, defeat Eclipso). I just didn’t think it would be two episodes before the finale. Darn it, I hate being right.
I refuse to believe the Shade has met his fate. NOPE. There’s more backstory that I think that can be explored besides an exposition-filled speech. Also, didn’t Johnathan Cake tease that there’s a chance he could be in season 3 (and it better not be just flashbacks, YA HEAR ME?!)?
Overall, just a fantastic episode in what has been a fantastic season. Actually, the whole series has been SO GOOD. Like, it is seriously the best-quality live-action superhero series since Smallville.

The Criminal Psychology Majors, Jason Todd x Fem!Reader Part 18/?
Word Count: 2.5k
Author's Note: Y/N - your name, A/N - any name (your best friend's name)
Warnings: Mentions of court, mentions of Jason's injuries, swearing, No beta bitch we die like Jason Todd
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10) (Part 11) (Part 12) (Part 13) (Part 14) (Part 15) (Part 16) (Part 17) (Part 18) (Part 19) (Part 20)
Jason walked out in a few minutes, just in his boxers. She looked at him before letting out a slight laugh at the absurdity of it.
"Don't laugh, you're the one who tore my clothes."
She sighed, "And you're going to have to go home in torn boxers, Bruce is going to kill you."
"God, don't remind me," he said before sitting beside her.
She laughed, "You could just not go home?"
"I wish. But I have a life. You have a life."
"It's unfortunate, isn't it. Can't spend all day with you but you're all I want to do."
"Funny."
"Thank you, I really tried," she thought, "You remember how I seem to have a fascination with vigilantes?"
"Yes, why?"
"I remembered why. So, when I was in high school, graduating year, I had law class. I was bored, so I did law, don't question it," she laughed. "Anyway, in my law class, they split us into groups. Specifically, Pro-Justice-League-Association and Anti-Justice-League-Association."
"Pro and Anti?"
"Yeah, apparently it was relevant? I guess the JLA doesn't use conventional methods to get evidence? Don't care though. Anyway, I was on the side of Pro, obviously."
"Obviously."
"Wait I'm not done! By the end of the class, I had debated every member of the Anti team and converted them. It actually introduced me to the Robin-Forums, which is just smack dab full of conspiracies."
"Robin-Forums?"
"Oh my god? You don't know those? You're all over them. Some people are convinced you're Kid Flash, some are convinced you're Robin, it's crazy."
"That is crazy but seems funny. What about my family?"
"Someone in my class posted "Why Clark Kent is Batman: An Essay" which has like, 20k likes? It's very popular."
"Well, I swear he isn't Batman. He's just very fond of the night."
"That's what I said, but that man is convinced otherwise."
"You would know if any of us were vigilantes. We're not good at hiding secrets."
"I'm sure you have your secrets, I just find it funny people think you have time to be Kid Flash."
"People spend all their time worrying about me, when will it end?"
"Ha! That's fair. Tabloids running your name probably doesn't help the conspiracies."
"I remember one of my ex-friends from high school mentioned me being Kid Flash, I was so confused, I guess it makes sense now. I'm going to have to show everyone that. They'll get a kick out of it."
"I bet they would. I'm waiting for the day I'm on it as someone who's a hero. Hoping they say I'm Wonder Woman or something. I think it would be funny."
"You get Miss Martin because everyone thinks you're too beautiful to be human."
"Aw. That's so corny that I hate it! Well done."
"Thank you. I learned it from Dick."
"Of course you did."
"Where else would I learn it from?"
"If you're genuinely asking, the internet, probably."
"That's fair. That's completely fair. I think Dick learns a lot of his lines from the internet, honestly."
"Oh yeah, there's no way he comes up with everything on his own. No way."
"So, what other dumb stories do you have?"
"Well, I think my sister is either a vigilante or really, really, weird."
"You think your sister is a vigilante?"
"Okay so, she's a businesswoman. No big deal, right? Wrong. She's always out, more often than she has to be, she's always spending nights away from home."
"That doesn't mean anything."
"Okay well Adrianna, Aria, whatever you want to call her, she's being suspicious."
"I'm sure you're looking too far into it."
---------------------------
The Night Jason Was Stabbed.
Aria clutched the scythe in her life hand. She had failed. She had worn her best dresses that she could hide beneath her capes, she had drugged him, she had stabbed him 6 bloody times, and he had still survived!
She was angry. She walked up to the Red Hood on his time off while he was catching a drink, looking stressed. She didn't care if he accepted her offer to go to her room, she just cared about that moment. The one where she could slip in the crushed-up pills and no one would stop her.
And she had done it. She waited until after he chugged the whole drink to strike. He was stumbling around, like an idiot. She hit his head with the back of her blade, knocking him to the ground where she proceeded to stab him 6 times in his right side.
She kissed his forehead before leaving, which required her to removed her mask a bit, saying "Goodnight, sweet Prince," before running into the darkness.
But the blue one, Nightwing. He got to the Red Hood before he could die. And she was pissed. All that hard work, just for him to not even die.
The scythe was still bloodied from the Red Hood. Her lips were still warm from his forehead. But now, he had possibly seen her face! Her plans were foiled every way when of her goblins came up to her.
"Ma'am, your weapon."
She passed it over without second thought. She wanted it rid of the blood of a living man, she wanted it soaked in the blood of a dead man.
Her plague doctor mask fell a bit as she began to tear up. She had failed. She had never failed at knocking "Heroes" down a peg.
Call it crazy, but she knew the fights between her and the Red Hood were far from over. She even felt as they'd grow closer.
As she looked at the walls covered in the photos of the vigilantes of the world, she knew this was only the first battle. The war was hers. They didn't know what was going to hit them.
But there was an issue. Her sister, Y/N had become close with one of the Waynes. She needed the Waynes to get to the "Heroes" which meant possibly hurting her sister.
----------------------------------
"I hope I'm looking too far into it."
She wasn't.
One night when they were both 17, it was just Aria and Y/N in the house when Y/N was awoken by a loud crash from the downstairs window.
She went to investigate, bat in hand, to find her sister, stumbling over the coffee table. Bleeding out and clutching her side from the blood. Stabbed.
Y/N took no hesitation to take care of Aria. Stitching her up like they had as kids when Y/N would sitch up Aria after shut cut herself on skates, or if Y/N ran straight into a car.
Those images still dance in Y/N's mind to this day. Something was up with the way that her sister had a mask, a long bird-Esque plague doctor mask. A cloak. Knives. Guns. A scythe.
The best outcome would be her sister was attacked while LARPing in the park. The worst? She was a villain. Midway? A hero of the night, a vigilante. Anything was better than a villain.
If only she knew the pain Aria had caused her until this point. The fact that Aria was the one who drugged and tried to kill Jason. The pieces of the story were unravelling in front of everyone's eyes, they just needed to connect them properly.
--------------------------------
Aria had a plan. Kidnap her sister and her lover's family. Get ransom. Get them hurting. Locate the "Heroes". The only issue was that Y/N would recognise the cloak, the mask. She knew the get-up.
Aria was not about to redesign her entire outfit for the sake of not alerting her sister. She figured it would be unlikely that Y/N would focus on the cloak when she's being used for ransom money.
Or at least she hoped. She wasn't certain her plan would even work. Breaking into the Wayne Manor, after one of the kids had been stabbed, in a mugging was going to be difficult.
They had employed security, something that was never common at the Wayne Manor before this moment. She was upset. If only her sister had met the Waynes before the stabbing.
Then she thought.
Red Hood is a Wayne?
It made sense, sure. They got stabbed at the same time. But was it reasonable? She didn't know. Why would an 18-20-year-old be a vigilante? He couldn't even legally drink?
She thought it didn't make sense. That the Red Hood was never, could never be the Wayne kid. But if he was, what could that mean?
She was certain he wasn't. But the thoughts swirled in her mind as if beckoning her to come to the conclusion.
She was crazy, she knew that. She was obviously crazy, she became the villain, the opposite of her twin in every way. She was insane. Arkham would like her. But there was something about the Red Hood being a Wayne that kept coming back to her. Haunting her like the night she was stabbed by Green Arrow back in Metropolis.
She was on their radar. They knew her. They would come to get the Waynes.
She knew the Justice League Association knew of her. But the people didn't. This stunt would make the people know of her.
The name Hour will ring through the streets of Gotham. The streets of Metropolis. Smallville. Anywhere she could get her hands on. She would begin her reign of terror.
No one could stop her now.
---------------------------------
Jason had left after Bruce had called him. She assumed he needed to work or one of his siblings did a dumbass move. It was upsetting that they couldn't spend every moment together, but she knew that it was par for the course with Jason.
She was bored. She didn't have a job, her parents paid her bills if she focused on school. But she wasn't something to do, a reason to be having down days. She knew school gave her this, but it wasn't like it was every damn day.
A job would be every damn day. Hopefully. A reason to do so much in her life.
She figured she could work at Wayne Enterprises. But she didn't want to be that girl. The one who's fucking the CEO and is subsequently untouchable. You can't befriend her and talk sit, she'll tattle.
She wanted to be a normal working person. A colleague, not a boss.
Wayne Enterprises was a last resort for her. If she couldn't get hired anywhere else, she'd go apply thee. You don't fuck company property, she thought.
But she also thought fucking Wanye Enterprises "Property" was fun. and no one was really going to stop her, not even Bruce. Even though Bruce tried to lecture her and Jason, there was only so much he'd do. Barbara and Dick both worked at Wayne Enterprises and hadn't been reprimanded for that.
And obviously, they were having sex. They had been together for a while, Jason said.
Which, obviously they were having sex if they were together for that long.
She scrolled a little while for jobs, marking down a few she'd look further into. Not really anything exciting, she was still young, 1st year in college, a freshman. Not many prestigious places would hire someone her age. Especially while they're still in school.
There were only unpaid intern jobs in her field. And she wasn't about to fuck with not getting paid, even if it was her line of schooling. She didn't think it was worth it to put all of your efforts into a job that you weren't getting paid for.
A lot of kids thought her way, including her sister. Both of them grew up thinking that getting paid for work was necessary, her parents had always told them that. Even if her parents had strict religious views, they would still back her up if someone wasn't paying her, even if they fell out.
She thought if Bruce felt the same, that kids should be paid for what they do. He figured he did since he employed all of his kids once they were old enough to work at Wayne Enterprises.
She noticed Lexcorp, who had recently put up a building in Gotham, was hiring. She thought it would be funny if she went to work for her boyfriend's dad's competitor. She was tempted.
Worst comes to worst, she'd be a Lexcorp employee.
She, of course, would have to dress up for these interviews, and she had the clothes to do so, but she didn't, per se, want to wear them.
She also didn't want to go outside when trials were still raging. So, she figured she'd call Christopher's parents about getting him a lawyer and then scroll the pages for shopping. His parents finally had the time to deal with their son, because Christopher didn't want to interrupt his parents with him being an idiot.
She dialled.
"Hello?" his mom asked.
"Hey, Laura. It's Y/N."
"Y/N! Sweetheart, we've been wondering about you ever since, you know."
"Yeah, yeah. We can talk about it later I swear. So, I already told you about what Christopher did, right?"
"You did."
"He needs a lawyer, the man is pressing charges."
"Well, that's stupid. He has no right."
"Apparently he does."
"We'll get Christopher a lawyer. But how are you, darling?"
"I'm okay. Could be a hell of a lot better. I have faith in the court system."
"We're all worried about you, kiddo. You've wrapped yourself up in a lot of a mess recently."
"I know. It's weird. But I swear I'm strong enough to pull through, you've known me for what, 13 years? Give or take? I know how to handle myself."
"That doesn't mean we can't worry."
"I know, new city, new people. I swear behind the scandals I'm in that I actually have friends."
"I assume we'll meet this Jason eventually?"
"Eventually. We need to find the time between court dates, work. Adulting."
"You don't have a job?"
"Jason does. And I'm thinking about getting one to pass the time."
"Working to pass the time is a new thing, fascinating, you kids are."
"Nothing can make sense of all these things I've done, I know."
"Those sound like song lyrics."
"Sometimes songs are the best way to get all your thoughts compiled into one place, you know. I starred as Katherine Howard, Laura. I know how to convey emotion through art."
"I know. That's still one of the performances Metropolis holds on to, you know."
"I wish they didn't. But it is what it is."
"It's a good performance, kiddo."
She laughed, "Anyway. You get onto that lawyer. Christopher needs it right now."
"I will. Be safe. We love you."
"I love you lot."
Click. She thought about Christopher, and the bullshit he went through to save her.
She brushed the thoughts off and pulled out her journal. Scribbling down her sister's bird mask. She couldn't get that off of her mind. She could have sworn her sister made the thing out of actual bone.
It was like she threw a steampunk aesthetic into a plague doctor. She was certain there was more to it that she didn't know.

On Supergirl
Tumblr media
Figured I should put up my thoughts about Kara in the wake of her first film appearance being announced, and the final season of her TV show fast approaching. Short version is: Kara is very cool and DC needs to stop messing with her.
My Introduction to Kara
Tumblr media
I was introduced to Kara the way most millennials/Gen Zers were I imagine, via the Loeb Superman/Batman arc which brought the traditional Kara Zor-El Supergirl take into Post-Crisis continuity, after years of DC attempting to have a “Supergirl” without violating the editorial mandate that Kal needed to be the literal “Last Son of Krypton” (an example of one of the dumb ways DC fucked Kara over). Story goes that one day Dan Didio was in line at the Superman ride at Six Flags (I love that ride even though it’s stolen my glasses every time I’ve ridden it, even when I left them in a locker!). The ride had signs that talked about various Superman characters. Didio was reading the entry for Supergirl where it talked about her not being Clark’s cousin but instead some weird merge of alien shapeshifter, angel, and human girl, and he realized how fucking stupid that was, and he went back to the office and told Loeb to bring Kara back.
Years later I would also be standing in line at the Six Flags Superman ride (probably at a different park location but who knows?) as a youngster and would read the new Supergirl sign that trumpeted that Superman had a cousin who shared all his powers, an update reflecting the new Loeb origin. I thought she sounded pretty cool, made a note to see if my library had any Supergirl stories next time I visited, then got on the Superman ride and promptly lost my glasses like an idiot because I wanted to take them off while I was riding and pretend I was changing from my “disguise” into Superman mid flight. My dad grounded me for this afterwards, but it gave me a funny story to tell at family get togethers and isn’t that what Six Flags is all about?
A month later (and with spiffy new glasses), my mom dropped me off at a new library next to where she worked, and they had one of the best Superman collections I’ve ever seen to this day. I was in heaven and while reading every Superman book I could find (I couldn’t check them out because I didn’t have a card, my mom’s card didn’t cover the area the library was in, and my mom wouldn’t have checked them out anyway since comics were “too violent”), I found the trade collecting Kara’s new origin. I read it and I thought both she and Superman were really cool, and Batman was a  punk who had to beat Darkseid by cheating, the loser. Turner’s art to my young eyes was the best I had ever seen, and the panels got engraved into my brain.
Tumblr media
I still get downright nostalgic whenever I see Turner Superman or Supergirl stuff. I also got my parents to rent the animated movie adaption of the Superman/Batman arc from Blockbuster (remember those?), and that sealed the deal. Seeing Kara hold her own against Darkseid convinced me she was as cool as her cousin. Next time my mom dropped me off at the library next to her workplace, I went looking for Supergirl stuff to read. I found the first volume of her new volume by Joe Kelly taking place after the Loeb arc and dove in.
It was... weird. 5 years later I might have enjoyed it but at the time I was majorly put off. Kara took a secret identity for a day and then ditched it because it was “stupid” and the kids bullied her. She was always getting into fights with Kal, and there was this weird plot that I couldn’t follow about how her dad had sent her to kill Kal, maybe or maybe not? Also she could grow crystals which I thought was dumb, and said she was stronger than her cousin which I couldn’t buy for a second given he looked like he was carved out of marble, and she looked like she relied on sunlight instead of food. I put the volume back on the shelf and kinda gave up on reading the character after that for a while.
I followed her via the DC wiki updates just like I did Superman, and everything I read seemed dumb and convoluted. She was split in two, moped around a lot, made out with an alternate version of her cousin, and basically just flopped about the same way the rest of the Superfamily did during the 00s. Nothing made me think I had made a mistake dropping Kara until I read the latest update to her wiki page.
Tumblr media
I was super into what I was reading about the Busiek/Johns era of Superman online. Lex was back and making a big revenge scheme that involved all the other Rogues! Old Superman Rogues were getting revamped and made cool again! Johns reintroduced Brainiac and made him a big threat, with Kal and Kara teaming up to fight him! Busiek was revamping Prankster and telling big ambitious Superman stories! For the first time in a long while, the consensus on the Internet was that Superman was good again. My “home” library had zero Marvel books and no Superman or Batman books, all their DC stuff was Flash or Green Lantern, mainly written by Johns. Insane to think back on now. My hopes that because Johns was involved with Superman, Superman books would show up at my library were fulfilled. They started bringing in Busiek and Johns collections, and someone there also ordered Sterling Gates’ first volume of Supergirl, and I checked everything out since I was old enough to have my own library card, and my parents were worried more about the violent video games I was playing rather than comics.
I read everything and loved it. I also really liked Gates’ take on Kara. She was still an imperfect teenager but she wasn’t insufferably angsty or constantly fighting with Kal. She was going to give the secret identity another try and Lana had “adopted” her. It’s funny remembering how I enjoyed all that given my current thoughts on how Kara should work, but it was great at the time. I liked Gates introducing new foes for Kara, some classic Superman Rogues adapted for her like Bizzarogirl, others crafted specifically for her like Reactron. Gates’ basically rekindled my enjoyment of Kara the same way Busiek & Johns rekindled my enjoyment of Superman.
Of course it ended terribly like everything Superman-related seems to.
Tumblr media
I’ve got a whole post I want to do about New Krypton and what came after. In short that is the most blatant example of “hitting the reset button” that I’ve ever seen. All the potential got wasted, and afterwards everything except Lex’s Action Comics stuff just didn’t appeal to me. Gates got booted off Kara for Nick Spencer who ended up leaving himself later, a promising Teen Titans line-up with Kara on it didn’t happen, and the last proper Pre-Flashpoint Superfamily story was a crappy team-up with Doomsday against Bigger Doomsday (thank God for Cornell’s final Luthor/Superman confrontation at least). When news of the reboot arrived, I was honestly happy. The Superline needed an enema.
Tumblr media
Controversial opinion time: I liked New 52 Supergirl. It’s weird because a lot of the stuff I hated about Kelly’s run was here, and a lot of the stuff I loved about the Gates’ run was not. This was angry, moody, emotional Kara again, fighting with Kal and not fond of Earth. But I was in my teens at this point, and I didn’t want happy go-lucky Superman or Supergirl. I wanted my heroes angry, scared of the future, ready to go out there and smash some cars. Morrison’s Action Comics was 100% my jam (still is once I really understood the deeper meaning beneath the work) and this Kara felt like a natural fit for this universe. Plus we got Asrar on art and that guy made it damn pretty to look at, lots of cool science fiction stuff going on, even with the dumb H’el storyline.
Tumblr media
I loved all the new Rogues Kara got. I loved her new Fortress under the ocean. I loved how traumatized she was by the loss of Krypton, that she wanted more than anything to go home, that her cousin was like a stranger to her since they had been apart for so long. I found all of that incredibly relatable. A lot of the New 52 Supergirl stories might have been schlock but it was my type of schlock damnit, and I enjoyed it!
Tumblr media
I kept with her New 52 series all the way through the Red Daughter Saga (which I loved). As someone who grew up on Johns GL (since that was the only comics my home library had), seeing a Supercharacter join a Lantern Corp was the hypest thing ever. I loved the finale about Kara finally letting go of her anger and losing the ring while smashing her foe into the sun, it was incredibly cathartic for me as an angry teen myself. I finally stopped following her series sometime after since I was no longer enjoying the Superline or really DC as a whole. It wasn’t until I heard that New 52 Superman died and the “old” Superman was back, that I checked back into DC.
DC Rebirth & How I Think Kara Should Work
Tumblr media
I did not enjoy Supergirl Rebirth, and I think I’ll talk about my problems with it alongside how I think Kara as a character should work since the two are related. A pet peeve of mine that has formed over the years is this: I don’t like it when Superfamily members get turned into Clark clones. Kon wearing glasses and going to Smallville High. Kara going to high school and being involved in journalism. Jon more or less being written as a copy of his dad personality-wise. I hate that kind of stuff because it’s boring. What’s the point of a Superfamily if everyone is just copying Clark? It also doesn’t fit the characters especially in Kara’s case. Why the hell does she want to be a journalist? Were there journalists on Krypton? I don’t remember ever seeing one! Shouldn’t she want to be, I dunno, a scientist? That seems to have been the El family tradition, wouldn’t she have been groomed for that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one-off by Shea is honestly the only acceptable outcome for Kara going into journalism for me. She realizes she’s just copying her cousin and switches to something she wants to do. So Orlando copying the show, which already basically turned Kara into an expy of her cousin, just did not appeal to me at all. What had worked for me under Gates way back when was not clicking for me this time. I wanted to see Kara embody the principles of the S-shield in a different way than her cousin did. So I really enjoyed when Rebirth ended and we moved into the Bendis era with Andrekyo relaunching the title as Kara in space.
Tumblr media
Kara in space has always felt like a good fit for me. Unlike Kal I’ve come to believe that Kara really shouldn’t be all that fond of Earth. For him it’s home, but for her it’s just where she ended up after her real home got destroyed. I think Kara works well as a sort of nomad, occasionally making stops back home to Earth to check on her cousin, but otherwise? She’s more comfortable out in space than she could ever be on Earth. Out in space she can be Kryptonian (which is what she should think of herself as in contrast to Clark being torn between his Kryptonian biology and human upbringing, and Jon/Kon identifying as human), be her true self, not have to pretend to be human to fit in. Kara founding a moon refuge was one of the best ideas for her that I’ve seen, I would love if DC made her Future State refugee center on the moon canon. I’m excited for more Kara adventures in space with the upcoming Tom King story.
Tumblr media
Also love that her and Krypto are getting tied together, if they don’t want to use Krypto in Superman’s stuff, let her have him! Bring on cosmic adventurer Supergirl!
Personality & Other Traits
Kara to me should be more hot-tempered than her cousin. All the Superfamily members should have a temper in my opinion, I see that as the “Deadly Sin” of Superman and his family. But while Kal is like a simmering pot that will explode if it’s left cooking for too long, Kara is like dynamite. Light her fuse at your own peril because she will go off on you.
I also like the idea of Kara being rash. Kal’s got a maturity that came from over a decade of having to live with Lex Luthor constantly getting away with all his evil schemes. He’s patient because he’s been forced to be. Kara? If you ask for her help she’ll give it, but beware because she doesn’t really care about the long term impacts of her decisions. She’s an invulnerable teenager after all.
Really liked that Venditti Annual where Kara got tutored in history by a reincarnation of Hawkman. Kara having a passion for history is a neat trait, would be nice to see her teach Kal or Jon some Kryptonian lore, or have her lead a Kryptonian holiday celebration for the Superfamily because she’s the only one who remembers how to do it.
Sexuality wise I know a lot of people ship Kara and Lena on account of the chemistry between the two in the show. I haven’t watched the show myself but I’m fine with making Kara bisexual, the Superfamily could use some LGBT+ rep, and Lena hasn’t done anything of worth as a villain, so undo that and throw the two together. If we’re letting Harley and Ivy get away with murder I think we can let Lena off the hook too, undo the Ultrawoman weirdness and put the two together. Could be fun seeing the two building that moon refuge together.
All in all I think Kara is a great character who is a stronger embodiment of the immigrant experience than even her cousin in some ways. I hope King does a good job with her, she’s treated better than her cousin on the film side, and that overall the 20s are a better decade for Supergirl than the 10s were.

Name: Lana Lang Age: 27 (but can be younger depending on the plot) Canon or oc: canon on smallville (but with a few changes to her bio) Sexuality: pansexual Occupation: owns a coffee shop Location: og metropolis, but could be changed depending on the plot.
Bio:
tw: death, torture, mental abuse, catatonic state
Lana Lang is Clark Kent's first love interest and Lex Luthor's ex-wife as well as a vigilante fighting to preserve life, as well as protect and defend those around her. Previously, Lana founded and managed the Isis Foundation, a non-profit devoted to helping meteor-infected metahumans, as well as also led the renovation of the Talon coffee shop.
Lana's biological parents are Laura Lang and Henry Small, her legal father was Lewis Lang. Lana was adopted and raised by her aunt Nell Potter, following the deaths of her legal parents. Lana has two paternal half-siblings, Tyler and Kaitlyn Small, who Lana never really got a chance to get close to since her stepmother, threatened to divorce her father if he continued to see her.
Growing up, Lana lived a mile away from the Kent family and was admired from afar by her neighbor Clark Kent for years. When they reached in high school, Clark gained the courage to get to know her and she became an important part of his circle of friends.
Clark and Lana have attempted to have a relationship several times, but for a long time he was unwilling to tell her the secret of his true origins to protect her from his enemies. Clark declared his love for Lana the day before their high school graduation, as well as asked her to give him another chance. She agreed and the two officially started a relationship. Around this time Lana witnessed two aliens come out of the Black Ship and attack a cadre of police officers, killing most of them as a second meteor shower hit the town.
After high school, Lana moved to Metropolis, as well as enrolled at Metropolis University to study astronomy and meteors. Lana wanted to discover if there were possibly aliens living among them, much to the dismay of Clark. Clark attempts to get her to drop her investigation drove a wedge between them, especially since Lana knew Clark was hiding something. Unlike Clark, Lex supported Lana in her conclusions and helped her in her investigations. To protect Lana from getting hurt, Clark told her he didn't love her anymore so that she would break up with him. Lana was devastated and turned to Lex for comfort.
Because of the time spent together with Lex, Lana grew to trust him, not realizing that in the meanwhile Lex was manipulating her into pursue a relationship with him. Lex loved Lana and was afraid to lose her, so he set up a fake pregnancy in order to get her to marry him. The two later divorced after Lana found out about the fake pregnancy.
After faking her death to escape and punish Lex for his betrayal, Lex found her and reassured her that she had nothing to fear from him, as well as agreed to leave her with the $10 million she had stolen from him as a form of divorce settlement. Lana later returned to Smallville and reunited with Clark, the two then made plans to reignite their relationship and this time more honestly. She moved onto the farm with Clark to live with him and his cousin Kara. Lana later fell victim to the evil Kryptonian computer Brainiac in his attempts to control Clark and Kara and was put into a strange catatonic state for weeks. She awoke after Clark destroyed Brainiac. Tess Mercer, obeying Lex's orders, then forced Lana to give Clark a "Dear John" DVD breaking up with him, as well as then kidnapped her, but Lana managed to escape.
Lana realized that Lex would always come after her and decided not to return to Smallville until she could defend herself. She tracked down a former military instructor and convinced him to train her in not feeling pain and torture. She later teamed up with Dr. Groll and the two worked to fuse her with a Power suit, which was Lex's last lifeline intended to allow him to recover from his injuries when the Fortress of Solitude collapsed on him and dominate Earth.
A vengeful Lex had Winslow Schott put a Kryptonite bomb on the roof of the Daily Planet, forcing Lana to choose between Clark and the people of Metropolis. Lana chose to defuse the bomb to save Metropolis which devastated Clark. This infected Lana's super powered nano skin with Kryptonite on a permanent basis and as a result of this, she could no longer be near Clark.
Years later, Lana is found in Africa protecting local villages from African warlords, operating as a vigilante called the “Angel of the Plateau”. There she met someone, a famous scientist that started to make searches with her to find a way to remove the kryptonite of her super suit, but before they could do that, she fought against a Kriptonian, and both were struck by a lightning, which caused his powers to be transferred to her, but the weakness came along with it, so she had to rush to her scientist friend, so he could take off her super suit, as she was dying due to the fact that it was filled with kryptonite. The suit was out, but due to the power transference, Lana still had powers, now more than she did before with the suit.
Personaility:
She places great trust in her partner and expects the same in return. Lana values honesty within her relationship and will build a relationship with someone she perceives will trust her. Whitney Fordman was simple and unassuming, but they were not soul mates. Jason Teague swept her off her feet in Paris, but he too began to hide things from her. Her attraction to Lex Luthor was intensified by her belief that Lex was always honest with her and was trying to do good in the world. Yet Lex kept secrets of his own, leading her to question his loyalty and seemingly rekindle her feelings for Clark.
After learning that her pregnancy was faked, Lana became a stronger and more mature woman, far from the soft and naive girl she once was. No longer waiting to be saved or wanting help, she has taken action into her own hands to make sure that the people who have done her and others wrong pay. Lana is a compassionate and optimistic person who deeply values life and considers the opportunity to protect and save lives to be an amazing gift. Lana goes through physical torture to put her past weaknesses behind in hope of becoming better. Lana is an accomplished horseback rider and an avid reader.
During her months of going missing from being kidnapped by Tess's men, Lana became more disciplined, no longer interested in revenge against Lex and has even chastised Oliver for trying to kill Lex and even stopped Clark from killing Lex in a fit of rage.
Powers:
All Kriptonian powers
Skills:
Skilled Hand-to-Hand Combatant: Lana first learned to fight from Lex after she was attacked by Andy and his gang, taking him down with a spin kick. Following her training with Carter Bowfry, she has proven that her fighting skills are among the elite; she was able to fight Oliver Queen to a standstill, and later fought against Tess Mercer and won.
High Pain Tolerance: Lana has trained herself to resist and withstand large amounts of pain and physical discomfort, including extreme temperatures.
Multilingual: she can speak many different languages
Interests:
Horse riding
Reading
Planting
Weaknesses:
Kryptonite

Pale Red Speck
I usually don’t post my fanfiction on my writing blog, but this is honestly one of my favorite things I’ve ever written. Sure, it’s a fanfiction but it’s also a reflection on home and diaspora and belonging. Honestly, if Superman was in the public domain, I’d be submitting it to literary magazines.
I guess, until then, I’ll have to settle for the internet.
This is a Superman fanfiction, and while it specifically takes place in the universe of the Superman and Lois TV show, you really only need to know basic Superman mythos, and the fact that in this TV show, Clark Kent is married to Lois Lane and they have two teenage sons: fraternal twins named Jonathan and Jordan.
FIC SUMMARY:
One night at the fortress, Kal-El asks Jor-El to show him Krypton's location in the night sky.
Over twenty years later, a sleepless Jordan Kent asks his dad the same question.
How can a planet feel so achingly far, yet so stiflingly close?
Clark Kent thought he'd never get used to living at  the fortress, but here is is: nineteen, fresh out of high school, and  learning about his alien heritage at a high tech ice castle somewhere in the Arctic circle.
It's actually weirdly cool.
Recently, Jor-El has started to speak entirely in Kryptonian, since Clark (or,  rather, Kal) has mastered the basics. Clark always had a knack for languages, but this one fits his mouth in a way even English, his first language, can't. It's alienating and comforting at the same time. He's discovering his own culture while learning about its demise. Or, near demise. He's still here. And this living hologram of his long dead birth father still contains Krypton's knowledge.
One day, Kal-El hopes he won't be alone.
It's  getting towards the winter, which means the sun rises less and less  each day. Kal can feel it, the way he's just a little bit more sluggish  and distracted. Apparently, the sun powers him up. It's almost nice to feel a little bit less powerful, for a change. It makes this alien landscape feel that much more human.
Lessons for the day are done and Clark sits outside, staring up at the stars above. They're the same  stars he used to count back on the farm in Smallville, when he couldn't sleep. Sometimes, when his super hearing got too much and the sounds  got too loud, he went out to the middle of the corn fields, and just lay  down, staring up into the glitter of the Milky Way.
It brings  him comfort, to know he's still close enough to home that the stars  haven't changed. Jor-El makes him feel so alien, and sometimes Clark has  to remind himself about his human life in Smallville. He can't ever  forget about that.
"Jor-El?" Clark asks, out into the tundra. "Can you see Krypton from here?" A  voice comes from deep within the fortress. "My son, the humans cannot  see Krypton's remnants, or its star, Rao, with the naked eye. They require a telescope. You can, however."
Just another reminder of how different he is. Kal-El sighs. "Can you show me?" "My  child, of course." Jor-El's hologram projects a beam of light, like a laser pointer, out towards the sky. Kal-El follows the light, telescoping his vision in until he can make out a red dot, barely visible, somewhere near the eastern horizon.
There. That tiny speck he needs super vision to see; that's his home star. That's where he came from. Clark swallows a lump. He's never felt this small before. Here he is, a child desperately flung across the stars to escape destruction, and that tiny, almost imperceptible dot is his original home. It's so far. It's so small.
Staring up into an  infinity of nebulae, Clark begins to understand how massive the universe is, and how fragile a planet can be. He's so glad he landed here. Yet, he still feels connected to the tiniest of flickers in the sky, reminding him of a life he could have lived. Sure, he can do great things here, but he's just one guy on one planet in a universe so large even he can't comprehend it. It's amazing. It's humbling. It's terrifying.
That night, Kal-El of Krypton, who is also Clark Kent of Earth, falls asleep beneath the glow of the Milky Way. ------------ One of Jordan Kent's favorite things about Smallville is how well he can see the stars.
In  Metropolis, you could see one or two on a good night, along with the  blinking lights of airplanes, but out here, when mom turns off the porch light in the evening, it's almost like the whole galaxy opens up. This is how the night sky is supposed to look. Not some lonesome dots in the black, obscured by skyscrapers, but an endless ocean of twinkling  darkness, flecked with light and movement. It's oddly beautiful.
Sometimes, when he can't sleep, he goes outside and sits in the fields, just  staring up and listening to the crickets. It's relaxing. Sometimes he  falls asleep out there, and even though he always wakes up with a weird cramp in his neck from the uneven ground, it's worth it. Jonathan can  have his skyscrapers, his parties, his traffic, his raucous laughter. Jordan will take this solitude any day of the week.
So, that's  where he finds himself tonight: in the corn field nearest the front  porch, lying on his back and looking at the speckled infinity above. It's getting colder, but that doesn't seem to bother him as much anymore, for reasons that make him equally excited and uncomfortable. Maybe he's just adapting to life in the country. (He knows it's something more than just adapting to life in the country.)
Jordan can hear footsteps out on the porch. Maybe dad with a late night super-emergency? No, if dad was Supermanning, there'd be a sonic boom and a rush of wind. This person is just pacing the porch, at human speed.
Jordan sits up. He doesn't have super vision yet, but he  isn't that far from the house, and can see, yes: there's dad, on the porch, leaning over the railing and staring up at the stars as well.
"Dad." Jordan waves and whispers, in a voice too quiet for anyone else to hear.
Dad looks up and smiles, coming over to join Jordan in the field.
"Can't sleep?"
Jordan nods. "Sometimes I like to look at the stars, it feels relaxing."
"So that's why you fell asleep in the field that one time?"
"Oh. Yeah. That." Jordan blushes, remembering the awkward morning where he showed up at the breakfast table covered in dirt.
Dad smiles, and lays down next to Jordan, the two staring up at the stars  together. A silence grows, but at the same time it's not a silence. Both  of them can hear two heartbeats, a flicker of a breeze, and the buzzing  of crickets. Clark listens to the background noise of the world go by, while Jordan tries his best to tune it out and just hear what's right  around him. They lay there and relax, Jordan feeling his dad's hand next  to his own. The stars remain. The night twists on.
"Dad?" Maybe thirty minutes have passed when Jordan breaks the quiet. "Can you see Krypton from here?"
"I can, or at least the star it orbited. You'd need a telescope, though."
"Oh." Jordan's voice falls. Just another way he can't measure up to Superman.
"We have one in the storm cellar. I can get it if you want, and show you."
"Really?"
"Yup. Just like my father showed me."
Jordan smiles as dad stands up and speeds off towards the barn. About ten  seconds later, he returns with an old telescope on a tripod, which he sets out on the ground and points eastward.
"It's highest above the horizon in the fall, but you can see it in late summer and early winter, too." He spends a few seconds fiddling with the focus, before inviting Jordan over to look.
Jordan  kneels down and stares into the viewfinder, as dad rubs his shoulder to  the rhythm of the wind. There it is. A small red dot, barely visible in  the black.
That's where dad was born.
That little speck, too small to see with the naked eye, had never felt so large to Jordan. Looking down into the empty well of stars, there's a distance and a  longing that aches in a way he can't describe.
At this point, Jordan can't ignore the way his body is changing. Sure, he's got a few  scraggly chin hairs, but he also now has a constant chill in his throat and a buzz in his ears. He's gained strength in a way he's still getting  used to. Some days, he just pushes it all aside, tries to ignore it. Sure, he's weird, and has some weird abilities, but he also has algebra tests and a girlfriend and piano practice. He's always been weird. This is just another thing to deal with. Other times, though, like tonight, it really hits him. Sure, his mom is from Metropolis, but his dad is from another planet. Jordan's stuck in some great galactic in-between. Too Kryptonian for Earth, and too human for Krypton. And the distance between the two?
It's SO far apart.
When Jordan looks up from the telescope and into his father's face, he doesn't notice both of them are holding back tears.
This man, his dad, was born orbiting that pale red speck. He's traveled so far, and lost so much. Jor-El and Lara gave up everything so their son could have a future and now all that's left of home is a virtual database and some dangerously radioactive rocks.
Oh, and dad. And partially, Jordan and Jonathan.
Do two half-Kryptonians make a whole?
Jordan surges forward and hugs his dad, tighter than humanly possible. Clark returns the hug, also tighter than humanly possible, now that he knows  Jordan can handle it. It feels good, for once, to loosen just an ounce of that omnipresent self-control when hugging his son. It reminds him that maybe not everything under this yellow sun is so breakable. This family certainly isn't.
Jordan stays in the embrace for a while, and when he pulls  loose, he looks up into dad's pale eyes reflecting the starlight. "Dad, it--it's so small."
"Krypton's star is smaller than Earth's. That's why we react to yellow sun the way we do; people on Krypton had to deal with significantly lower levels of solar radiation."
"Yeah, makes sense." Jordan sighs. "I just--I dunno. The galaxy is so big."
Dad  places a hand on Jordan's shoulder, and smiles with a familiar weight. "When Jor-El first showed it to me, it felt really overwhelming. Knowing your home is so far away, that even if it existed you could never really go back."
"Would you go back to Krypton? If you could?" Jordan doesn't even know if he wants to hear the answer.
"I used to want that, when I was your age."
"And now?"
"Not at all."
"What changed?"
"I realized how far away it was. And how everything I loved was already here with me."
Jordan turns to his dad, a new understanding passing between them. Sure, they share biology from across the stars, but what makes a place yours is more than genetics. It's love and trust and a sense of belonging. Krypton is thousands of light years away and nearly invisible on a telescope.
Maybe one day, Jordan Kent would become more powerful than his father. Maybe he'd speak fluent Kryptonian and live in the fortress and memorize all of Kryptonian history, but at the end of the day, no matter what powers he had, Jordan Kent belonged on Earth.
Here, where the stars splayed out like glitter in the ocean and crickets sang  lullabies and fresh corn grew every summer. Here, where Jordan could melt steel with his eyes. Where he could dent solid rock. Here, where his father built a home light years away from his birthplace, and understood that despite biology, this was where he was meant to be.
Jordan knows he'll never fit in. Someday, he'll forget life before the chill in his throat or the heat behind his eyes. Someday, he'll forget the feeling of a neck cramp after a night staring at the sky. But he was  never normal, even before all that. No matter how alien Jordan feels, it's moments like tonight, lying with his father and staring up through the cornstalks to the stars, that remind him: he's the child of a love that crossed a galaxy. He belongs on this farm just as much as he does the milky sky above it.
Right here? Right now? This is home.

SPN 15x04 Atomic Monsters Map
Beaverdale High School in this episode is the same school used for Truman High School in After School Special. It's also the school that was used for Smallville High in Smallville. Eastview Park , where they filmed the park/woods scenes is a disc golf course so watch for flying frisbees if visiting. I stumbled on Billy's house while trying to visit a house from another episode (which has been torn down) on my last trip to Vancouver.
Click on the individual location pins for screenshots from the episode of each location and notes. Click the frame icon in the upper right hand corner to view a larger map and my map key. And be sure to zoom in as some of the locations are so close together the pins are on top of each other.
Don’t see the location for a scene on the map? Check this post on unidentified locations from the episode. If you still don’t see what you are looking for, it was probably shot on set or a private interior. Feel free to drop a line in the ask box with questions!

fic writer tag game
I was tagged by @danger-flammable. Thank you so much for thinking about me! This was a lot of fun, giving me the opportunity to stroll down memory lane for a while. :D :D :D
Fandoms: A veritable shit-ton as I am a fandom old. In descending story total (complete, WIP, and crossovers of various lengths):
MCU: 37
Supernatural: 19
Veronica Mars: 13
Buffyverse: 12
Harry Potter: 6
Yuri on Ice: 6
Smallville: 4
Daredevil: 2
Gilmore Girls: 2
Persona 5: 2
Bungou Stray Dogs: 1
Final Fantasy 15: 1
Firefly: 1
Game of Thrones: 1
The Hunger Games: 1
My Hero Academia: 1
Voltron: 1
I didn’t write fic for five years, so I usually divide my fandoms into Phase 1 (Supernatural, Veronica Mars, Buffyverse, Harry Potter, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, Firefly, and the Hunger Games) and Phase 2 (MCU, Yuri on Ice, Daredevil, Persona 5, Bungou Stray Dogs, Final Fantasy 15, Game of Thrones, My Hero Academia, and Voltron).
Where You Post: AO3 (under Wynn). I usually post notifications about AO3 postings on Tumblr, rather than complete stories. Back in the day, I posted on FF.net (Wynn) and Livejournal (jwynn). There are links to these old accounts and the stories posted there on my Tumblr if anyone is interested.
Most Popular Multi-Chapter Fic: I’ll stick to the AO3 era. My most popular stories are “Sixty Impossible Things” (Yuri on Ice, Podium Family Centric) with 6197 kudos and “That Which You Seek” (MCU, Wintershock) with 5997 kudos. I’ve been lucky to capture lightning in the bottle twice, so to speak, as there are so many different variables that go into a fic being popular.
Favorite Story You’ve Written So Far: This is so hard because I’ve been writing for so long. Here are some fics/fandoms that stick out as memorable and meaningful:
I like a lot of the Supernatural fics I wrote way back in the day (seasons 1-3). I think I did some cool stylistic things in them, especially “Communication Breakdown” and “Tiny A’s All in a Row.” I feel like I started to come into my own as a fic writer during this time.
I have a lot of affection for “Remebrance of Things Past,” my massive MCU WIP. It’s the fic that got me back into fic writing again after 5 years. I’m still in awe of some of the action sequences I planned (one spanning five chapters and, like, six different locations and plot lines that all converged into one disaster). Some of the nicest comments that I’ve ever received were about that fic, despite the fact that I went rare-pair happy with it (Loki and Natasha, Steve and Sif, Clint and Darcy, etc.).
I can mix the first two bullet points and apply them to my Yuri on Ice stories. I still get giddy about some of the writing I did for “The Fire That Burns” and “Spectacles Long Thought Myth.” I just think that it’s so good. And, of course, I have so much affection for “Sixty Impossible Things.” It’s become so much more meaningful than I anticipated when I started writing it, and I’m still in awe at the responses I receive when I post chapters, even though it’s been so long since I started writing the fic.
Fic You Were Nervous to Post: There’s always some trepidation if a fic I’m posting has anything racy in it, which is why it’s rare for me to do so. Other than this, there’s always the nerves of “will this be well-received, will readers think I’ve kept the characters in-character, etc.,” especially if I’m posting for the first time in a new fandom, which happens much more frequently nowadays.
How You Choose Your Titles: A lot of the times they’re song titles or lyrics from songs or other works (“That Which You Seek”- song title, “Winter Giving Way”- song lyric, “The Unconquerable Will”- phrase from literature). Other times they’re a phrase from the fic itself (“Spectacles Long Thought Myth,” “Weirwood and Steel”).
Do You Outline: Usually, though I don’t rigidly stick to it. If an interesting path pops up in the course of writing, I’m willing to follow it. I’ve usually got a destination in mind, but I’m not always fixed on the paths taken to get there.
Complete: 94 stories out of 110.
In Progress: My eternal WIP “Sixty Impossible Things.” I truly hope to finish it this year. I’m working on the climax now, and there are maybe 3 chapters planned after this, though I often divide chapters as my scenes get kind of long. There are also a number of WIPs from 2018 and 2019 when I struggled with fic writing (“If One Wishes to Obtain,” “The Fire that Burns,” and “Red Roar Rising”). If I could return to “Sixty Impossible Things” after 14 months and then after 6 months and begin writing again, I could return to these as well.
Coming Soon/ Not Yet Started: I suppose I’ll be able to post my YoI Dreadfully Yours fic “Smooth Runs the Waters” sometime this year, once the ‘zines have been shipped to everyone. Beyond that, I’m not sure. I have ideas for fics, but no firm plans to write anything beyond trying to finish “Sixty Impossible Things.” Some of my ideas include:
Adding to “Winter Giving Way.” I’d brainstormed a chapter in which Chuuya discovers Akutagawa and Atsushi’s relationship. I’d also brainstormed a few chapters in which Akutagawa introduces Atsushi to Gin and Atsushi has to deal with his issues about homes and families.
Adding to “The Unconquerable Will.” I’d brainstormed Goro joining the Phantom Thieves in their fight against Shido.
I brainstormed A LOT of different Persona 5 fics, including one with Goro as Batman and Akira as Catwoman, an Ouran High School Host Club AU with Goro as the Tamaki-esque character and Akira as the Haruhi-esque character, one that explores Goro being a more of a direct tool of Yaldy (one of his angels, playing off the Justice arcana, keeping the order in Yaldy’s kingdom) and how he “falls” upon meeting Akira (playing off Arsene and Satanel being connected to hell and rebelling against Yaldy) by showing Goro the truth of the world.
Do You Accept Prompts: I sometimes reblog one of the “send me a prompt” posts, but I don’t usually get a response. I’m also such a slow writer that, especially now, I don’t want to divert fic writing energies from “Sixty Impossible Things.”
Upcoming Story You’re Most Excited to Write: I’m genuinely excited about trying to finish “Sixty Impossible Things.” People have been so patient and kind with their encouragement as I’ve struggled to write it. I want to reward that but also prove to myself that I can finish a fic of this length once again.

This might be big stupid but I can’t get it out of my head. Lena’s an astronaut who accidentally crash lands on krypton when her ship falls off course. Over the course of days it takes trying to repair it for a return trip to earth, she falls for kryptonian Kara Zor el
It’s not stupid at all but I definitely got hung up on how far away from earth that would be instead of actually writing something I’m SORRY.
In the show Alex says kara traveled uhhhhhhh 22 light years I think? I just heard it last night i think that’s what they said, so I’ll just go with that for now whatever. One lightyear is roughly 5.88 trillion miles. 22 lightyears is roughly 127.6 trillion miles. TRILLION.
OR. (And I like this better because SCIENCE! AND COMIC CANON!! EVEN THOUGH I CANT FUCKIN FIGURE OUT WHERE EXACTLY THE CORVUS CONSTELLATION IS.)
In 2012 for the New 52 comics, DC actually asked Neil deGrasse Tyson for help to pick a possible real planet for Krypton. He chose LHS 2520, a red dwarf star, as Rao that Krypton orbited. It’s located in the Corvus constellation, and smartly ties into Smallville, the Crows being the high school mascot of where Clark attended. LHS 2520 is approximately 27.1 lightyears away from earth. Or a little less than 159.4 trillion miles. I’m not an astronomer in ANY sense but maybe I can give you kind of a rough idea here. So to put that in perspective, our solar system is located on the local Orion arm of the Milky Way galaxy (which apparently we’re a four-armed galaxy now when did that happen.
This is quite possibly about to get very incorrect lmao fair warning bc I have no idea what I’m doing pls don’t yell at me I’m just tryin to underSTAND.
Here’s a pretty common visual representation of the Milky Way:
Tumblr media
Here’s a pretty simple breakdown from Nasa on the composition of our galaxy. So we’re in the Orion spur, a smaller arm in between the Perseus and Sagittarius arms. Okay. So we’re in the local group Orion within the Milky Way. The Milky way is within its own local group with the Triangulum and the Andromeda galaxies.
Tumblr media
That’s us on the right in one of those arms of the spiral, the Andromeda galaxy is in the upper left. Let’s back up a little more. The Corvus constellation is in between the Virgo and Hydra constellations by Messier 104 (the Sombrero galaxy yeehaw thank u Hubble) and can only be seen with the help of a telescope. Which is in Laniakea, the local supercluster that holds not just us but approximately 100,000 other nearby galaxies.
Tumblr media
And way over there on the right in between the Virgo Supercluster (top right) and Hydra Supercluster (bottom right) is the Corvus Void, which I am assuming that is where LHS 2520 is located. Assuming. Key word. I couldn’t quite figure out where it was supposed to be BUT IT AINT NEARBY.
That’s really fuckin far away okay. That’s too far. Why is space so big.
How far was Lena going out? How fast was her ship moving? How did she even survive that long? Was she put into cryo-sleep? Are we deciding that something like Starfleet exists now and we have warp drives? Or did we figure out how to punch through our reality and hop through distances? Did she get knocked into the Phantom Zone like Kara did and pop out on the other side un-aged? If so, how long was she in there for?
We’re in the yellow:
Tumblr media
Is any of this right? I don’t know. My head hurts.

ABOUT:
Logan grew up in a small town called Smallville in Kansas. His parents were farmers and they worked off their small family farm so money was always tough, but they managed to get by. They always thought Logan would take over the family farm when he got out of high school but he surprised everyone by getting a full-ride scholarship to Johns Hopkins where he stayed through his undergrad and then for Med school.
He did most of his residency in Johns Hopkins and ended up choosing physical medicine because of the amount of veterans he’d met over the years, hearing their stories about how they were injured while serving for their country but now weren’t able to have a great quality of life because of those injuries not being followed up by post-operative care and rehabilitation. He moved to Seattle after being accepted for a fellowship and eventually became an attending in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department.
In Seattle, he met Brooke Walker, who amazed him from the start. He asked her out early on, not caring that he was an attending and she was a resident at that point, but she turned him down and they carried on as friends and colleagues for a while, dating other people and such, but she never left his mind, always there like something he unknowingly compared everyone else he met to. They worked together often because of their specialities, but it wasn’t until she became an attending and stayed at SGMW, that he tried his luck and asked her out again. This time she said yes, and they’ve been together ever since.
He proposed two years ago, and she said yes but they’re in no rush to get married since everyone already sees them as a married couple, and they both have busy schedules. Brooke’s his best friend and he talks to her about everything, he’s excited to marry her but he knows that if marriage is anything like what they have now, he doesn’t need a marriage certificate to prove how loyal they’ll be to one another.
He’s a nerdy guy generally, which is ironic considering his specialty. But he likes to joke around and that side of him really comes out when he’s around people he’s comfortable with.

#NotAWalkingZombie
a DC Superhero Girls (2019) fanfic
read on AO3 here
Kara was prepared to do what was necessary.
For years, she’d suffered through her bad reputation, lived down to it in a lot of ways (mostly because that was what was expected of her, even though, deep down, a part of her yearned to live up to the legacy of the House of El. The legacy that, unlike her cousin, she’d actually learned at a young age, had drilled into her by her parents- and even her grandfather, who’d lived without it for many years and had to fight for.)
Kara figured fighting for her family’s name was just as important as actually having it in the first place, and as much as she resented Kal-El for getting to Earth first, she also resented him for having it too easy. He’d grown up on Earth, was functionally human, didn’t know firsthand what it felt like to see- for example- her mother fighting General Zod, not being sure if she was going to live through it, just barely escaping and knowing that one day, she’d have to represent her mother in a rematch against Zod and his lieutenants.
And she, unlike Clark, was able to succeed- but not alone, taking El Mayarah to its logical conclusion. Whatever happened, after that, she knew she could face and come back from it alive, as long as she had her friends by her side.
But that incident, a few months later, led to her considering what it had been like before she had her friends. When she was still in Smallville, having not yet moved with her family to Metropolis, and there were several mysterious accidents that fell on her shoulders.
Because surely, nobody else had her enormous strength, nobody else was at the scene of the crime after each was committed. Nobody else could possibly be at blame. Sure, Kara Danvers- Kara Zor-El- was special, but at what cost? When it meant being expelled from school, being known as a troublemaker at best and a destroyer at worst, was it really worth it?
She guessed so, as she found herself next at Metropolis High, in her cousin’s city. There, she’d found friends, a second family with whom came a sense of balance in her life. Not peace, necessarily, but these people- Barbara, Karen, Diana, Zee, and Jessica- were also gifted, also knew what it meant to live with two identities, navigating life among normal people and battles with supervillains. No longer was she alone, and no longer did she only have to talk with her parents (or not talk at all) about what she was dealing with. For a while, at least, everything was good, and she was able to build up her reputation as a hero- both alone, and with the rest of her team.
Now, she wasn’t just “Superman’s cousin”, or “Girl Superman”, or “Superman in a skirt”, or even “Super-bitch”, as she’d found herself referred to by graffiti once. She was Supergirl, for better or for worse, and she intended to keep it that way, making her name mean something, associated with goodness, and safety, and light.
The last thing she needed was for someone to drag it into darkness, as Kara Danvers’s name once had been, but just her luck, it happened anyway, in the form of a dark Supergirl wannabe who’d first attacked her school, then a myriad of locations all around the world, before going back to Metropolis.
Fitting, really, that the place Kara had once gone to find a new start in her life was also the place of Bizarro’s final stand. Bizarro had the upper hand against her, at first, and why wouldn’t she have? She, as far as Kara first knew, didn’t have anything to prove. She only had to fight against the person she thought was destroying her reputation, and at the beginning she seemed stronger. It was easy for her to turn the tide against Supergirl, and to overpower her.
Which, incidentally, made Kara herself angry enough to fight back. As she faced Bizarro, she thought about anyone who’d ever called her names, or told her she was a bad person, or tried to fight her when she hadn’t done anything to them. She thought about Superman, and how disappointed he would be if she didn’t take down her own Bizarro, when he’d done so (probably) effortlessly. Then, when that wasn’t as motivating, she thought about her mother, facing down her own death once upon a time, and how proud of her she would’ve been if she was there to see her.
(of course, if she didn’t get out of this, she would join her mother, and her father, in Rao’s light. But she also had parents and a sister on Earth who she wanted to see after this, and that was another push of motivation as she felt her eyes burning from the pressure released by the super-flare, the sheer heat from such a blast making her feel like the rest of her had been set on fire too.)
But, as well as her parents and Superman, she thought about her friends. Babs, who was there watching the fight, ready to step in if anything went wrong, and the rest, who were probably busy at the moment but who would probably meet herself and Batgirl at Sweet Justice after they saw the fight on the news. She remembered how hard they had fought against Zod, even if at first it had been for nothing, and how they’d worked together against every other villain they had faced up until that point.
She wasn’t going to make that pointless, and definitely wasn’t going to leave her team without a Supergirl, especially when they probably had much more time left. She was going to beat Bizarro for them, and everyone she cared about, and that was well worth being powerless for a few days.
So when she could see again (a little bit, at least), and the smoke cleared, she saw Bizarro there, looking as defeated as she’d felt before now. Kara could barely move for a moment, but as the feeling came back to her body, as she fought through the pain that coursed through her, she was able to sit up and see Babs (always reliable- good to have by her side in any crisis) tying Bizarro up, making sure she wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone else.
Yet, even the Bizarro version of herself had feelings, and as she confessed tearfully, she had a mirrored version of Kara and Clark’s dynamic with Bizarro-Superman- as opposite as they were, as much as Bizarro-Supergirl had destroyed, there was no way Kara wouldn’t comfort her then.
Compassion for all- even evil doppelgangers who just wanted their own reputations to be as good as those of their evil cousin’s doppelganger.
So, with Kara’s powers gone (though, luckily, her super-appetite not) she and Bizarro-Kara soon found a commonality eating sundaes together at Sweet Justice, after the rest of the team pitched in to clean up the city. It didn’t make up for what had happened, or what Kara had to do to bring Bizarro-Kara down, but right then, Kara didn’t care, because she was finally going to get to relax.
And, after such a big event, her parents knew who else would cheer her up, were she to see them.

“Kara?” Jessica asked, as she looked through the window. “Someone is here- should I let her in?”
“Who’s “her”?” Kara asked, lying on the couch.
“You do have X-ray vision, Kara. You could see for yourself.” Karen said.
“Yeah, but I don’t want to move right now. Why don’t you just tell me?”
“I’ve never seen her before.” Zee said. “But she has red hair, kind of in your haircut- kind of your aesthetic, come to think of it.”
Kara smiled, then, not needing X-ray vision to know exactly who was there to see her.
“Let her in.”
“Hi.” Alex said, greeting the superheroines who’d gathered there, surrounding her. “Alex Danvers, med student- but that’s not important right now. I’m here to see my sister, if you don’t mind.”
“OMG, Kara. You have a sister?” Babs asked, ready to ask her roughly a million questions.
“You never asked about her.” Kara answered, with a nonchalant wave of her hand. “Alex, you can come in. These are my friends.”
“And I didn’t know you had any friends.” Alex said, trying to move towards Kara, with the others blocking her and staring at her with great interest. “Not after what happened at-“
“We don’t need to mention that anymore.” Kara interrupted, knowing she’d have to tell her about what had really happened that day, as well as what had most recently happened to her. “The point is, now I have friends, and they’re great.”
“I can see that, by how they’re hovering over you. So, you said you lost your powers?”
“Yeah- super-flare. Clark says he’s done it a few times, but when I asked how he got his back, he told me to figure it out for myself. I think he’s testing me somehow.”
Alex smiled, sitting down by Kara’s side and squeezing her hand gently.
“Well, I think I have a way we can get them back just a little faster.”
“Really? I’d love to hear it.”
