Shaniera Akram sympathizes with 'good men' over Ayesha Akram case
A few days ago, on August 14th, Ayesha Akram a tiktoker had a meetup in Minar E Pakistan with her admirers.
It is said that a crowd of about 400 guys subdued and abused her. Most of the people was shocked by the occurrence.
Public opinion was horrified by the event and demanded punishment of all the perpetrators. In Pakistan, a movement was also made to demand the punishment of the perpetrators by the “#400” men.
This allegedly fabricated occurrence has been discussed on the social media for some days now. Meanwhile, for all those who have blamed the gender for few criminals, Shaniera Akram has made a point. “My heart is with all the noble guys of Pakistan,” she said in her recent tweet. I’m sorry you’ve failed so many of your siblings.
My heart goes out to all the good men of Pakistan. I’m sorry so many of your brothers have failed you 💔
— Shaniera Akram (@iamShaniera) August 19, 2021
Following similar occurrences with women, we have always seen a movement to assist her receive justice.
Sometimes, though, there’s a ‘Yes All Men’ campaign against males that all men are the same as the blame. Shaniera’s tweet points out that “Not all men” are unable to accuse the whole gender for such an event. These are only a few perpetrators, who are also severe criticism for good guys.
According to the reports, however, Ayesha Akram and her crew had all planned this occurrence as an advertising gimmick, which is quite typical among tiktokers.
The security in the Greater Iqbal Park told she may go if she wished, but she remained there for herself. She also did not reveal her Instagram postings that following the horrific occurrence she had been subjected to any trauma.
After the plot was revealed, individuals who supported her with the courage she has shown when she reported the event are now criticising her for defaming Pakistan’s report.

It’s a shame a show like Churails (Witches) got banned in Pakistan. Although the Pakistan drama industry has a lot of gems, it is unfortunate that a good chunk of them portray women as either self-sacrificial lambs or evil, greedy women waiting to ruin some man’s life (brother, son, husband etc.). I’ve grown up watching lots of Pakistani dramas and its rare to see women portrayed as human beings capable of making mistakes without them being immediately demonised. Whereas, male characters can be abusive to their women or engage in Haram activities while still being sympathetic to the audience. The problem here btw isn’t Islam as islamophobes might put it but the patriarchal societal structures present in many cultures. Women can only be what men want them to be or what men fear. They have no heart, no regrets, no feelings, no dreams etc. that don’t have anything directly to do with a man.
Churails is a drama that changed that. It showed that Pakistani dramas are capable of telling compelling stories about women, where they can be something outside of what men want them to be. Although the drama focusses on sexism experienced in the country by many women, it strives to portray the stories of these women unapologetically. Every character in the show is treated like a person. It’s been a while where I’ve seen a drama that gets me excited—combined with the crime thriller aspect, this show out-did itself.
Contrary to what people think, Churails isn’t about man-hating women going out and promoting Haram things. It’s a show that breaks away from the typical conventions of drama, all while holding up a mirror to the ugly truth that people would much not focus on. Watching Churails spoiled me. It made me realise how much I’ve wanted to see something like this in the context of Pakistani society. Hollywood can never do that for me in the way Lollywood can and did. I wish more dramas were like this where women can finally be unapologetically human rather than a cherry-picked bag of tropes.

An A&E doctor Almas Ahmad and medical researcher has developed the world’s first acid-proof make-up - due to launch early next year. Acid attacks were barely heard of in the UK only a few years ago. But at least two are now carried out every day on average in Britain. Between 2012 and 2016, the number of attacks recorded by police increased nearly threefold, from 228 to 601. The rise has continued since then with around 70 attacks per month, according to an investigation by the Daily Mirror. Just in the past week, a teenage girl and a woman in her sixties were taken to hospital suffering from facial injuries after a substance was thrown at them in south London on Monday. And a man was taken to hospital on Tuesday after having a liquid squirted at him on a busy high street in south-west London. On Thursday, two men were jailed for spraying three people at a party in North Lanarkshire over a drugs debt. And meanwhile, police in Somerset continued their investigation into an acid attack in Yeovil. Inspired by Katie Piper: ——————————— It was the ordeal of Katie Piper, the model who survived an attack by her ex-boyfriend in 2008, that first alerted Dr Almas Ahmed to what was going on. “I first heard about acid attacks while at medical school,” says the A&E doctor. “The very first person I heard about was Katie Piper and I remember being horrified. “I discovered it was more of an issue in Pakistan and when I looked into it I found that it was such a big problem and women have been suffering for quite some time. And that’s what made me want to do something about it.” The medical researcher, who describes herself as an “academic vigilante”, has since developed the world’s first acid-proof make-up. It is expected to launch commercially early next year. . “Hota hai.”
Translation: “It happens.” but with a slight disregarded tone.
Learning perception is key in understanding people according to my assumption. If you grew up with mixed cultures, perception is embedded in your brain. Each individual views a situation differently. Offering help may not be necessary at a certain house and if you don’t ask, it may be the end of the world for you because now you are considered a terrible person. Maybe you have anxiety around new people and all thoughts are perpendicular. Maybe because you have exhausted yourself from asking so many times and being rejected. Maybe you just feel awkwarded out. Also be careful, don’t share any of these feelings with anyone. If you are shaking on the inside and cannot courage up those words in front of  the aunties “Do you guys need help with anything?” in that moment, make sure you do not worry about your health, but fake it. Faking it is going to get you through the culture so easily. Of course you may be such a good hearted person and just freaked out in that moment. This label that you are inconsiderate sticks with you. This examples come to mind because of my juxtaposed Western and Pakistani culture. I forgot to mention a small detail, you have to be a women to offer help. If the man offers help, it is considered a shock and he must be the best because he asked for help. If this guy is not married, they say he will be so good to his future wife. If this guy is married, he is considered whipped and not respected by his wife. If you have watched enough bollywood/lollywood shows, these examples are spot on.
male:Why didn’t you ask?
female who may be thought of as a bitch after this question: Well, why didn’t YOU ask?
Would that have been too embarrassing for him?
It’s okay though, hota hai. Shit happens. I hear it around all the time, those exact words too. Hota hai. The advice moms, sisters, and friends give to the girl who is crying about a problem within her relationship.
“God will reward you if you are patient with him.”  “This happens to every women and men are just like that.”  “Keep yourself busy or distracted and listen to him.” “ Your life will be filled with more happiness if you just listen to him.”
A mistake committed by a women will be considered extreme but a mistake committed by a man will be a hota hai situation.
As much as this culture says they are moving forward, I notice it on a stand still.
