Do you have any favorite (free or cheap) places to visit in London? like a beautiful park or museum? My best friend and I are going on a budget vacation in the spring!
Ok good news - there are so many lovely free things to do in London!
Museums and galleries are almost all free for the main collection, you just pay for the optional special exhibitions and of course donations are welcome. So you can spend as many hours as you have in the Tates, the British Museum, the National Gallery, the NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM!!, National Portraits Gallery, the White Cube, Wallace Collection, V&A, and so many smaller ones too.
On Time Out London you can select free on the search function to find out what's on during your visit. It will also have good lists.
The parks are ALL free. You should go up to Hampstead Heath, to Holland Park where the Japan Garden will hopefully be in lovely bloom, Regent's Park and up Primrose Hill, and there are loads of other nice ones (Kensington Gardens too actually). London Fields if it's a nice day to sit and drink in the park - cheaper than a pub or bar.
Sky Garden is free to go up I think
Portobello Road on a Sunday with its vv famous market
Other markets like Borough Market but you WILL end up buying food. If you walk from there towards the Tate it's lovely and goes past the Globe - and just after Southwark Bridge there's a gate to the Thames that looks locked but isn't. I like to go down onto the shore at low tide and it's a nice place to sit and eat on the steps.
Walk along the canal around Little Venice / from Camden head east along it to BROADWAY MARKET! Another great market.
There are so many lovely areas to just wander around you really can't go wrong with the big hitters like Notting Hill but also go east and you'll find unexpectedly beautiful areas too, and there's vibey stuff like Brick Lane
All the churches and cathedrals which brings me to.....
Cemetaries!!!! Highgate to see Marx is a classic but there are others too

The city of London was launching an initiative to increase tourism, and one of the things they did was rename Big Ben to “The Motherfucker Himself”.

How To Go Day Trip From London To Europe's Cities?
How To Go Day Trip From London To Europe’s Cities?
As a citizen of London, I am speaking from my own experience. Honestly, Europe is the easiest continent to go on a day trip from your own city to other cities in my opinion. Reaching cities like Paris, Amsterdam, or Copenhagen is actually pretty easy, if you schedule everything in time. So, today we gonna see some day trips from the UK to Europe. The part of my brain responsible for rendering detail just doesn't seem to want to function today, so here's an ode to the WIPs I've been picking at but can't quite finish at the moment.

How to do Europe in five days
Jackie and Jilly, who used to be friends and colleagues while both lived in L.A., are finally meeting again at a bar in Boise, Idaho, for the first time in years. “I hear you went on a trip last year?” “Yes, we did Europe in five days. It was great.” “What do you mean by you did Europe?” “Well, we looked up What to see in Europe on the Internet and planned accordingly.” “I see.” “It worked perfectly. We did France, Spain, Italy, Germany and England.” “And saw them in five days?” “Yes! And the beauty of it is we’ll never have to go back there.” “Because you’ve seen all there is to see?” “Everything worth seeing!” “Good for you and your blessed little eyes!” “Are you being sarcastic by any chance?” “Never! Europe and the wisdom of the Internet would never recover!”

It's been a nice holiday generally but I had one moment here in el capitale where the scales fell from my eyes regarding post Brexit UK: in the supermarket.
I've complained and huffed for a while about the (recent, as previously it didn't exist) relative lack of choice and variety in the shops near me in Scotland & assumed for years it's been due to:(take your pick) local majority's taste preferences, cost of living crisis causing a reduction or focus on only the highest selling variants, some supply/expense/travel issue, given how far I live from the south/to mainland Europe, or a combination of the above.
Well I went to a giant flagship supermarket in London this week and it was exactly the same. When I first moved to a city over 10 years ago, when I was still actively in poverty, I used to treat myself occasionally by going to one of the fancy shops, walking around, looking at the fancy high end brands, and buying something small. I know some poorer folk are intimidated by places like that and I always looked upon it as reclaiming the space for me, to an extent. It's just a store ultimately and at least in principle is there to serve everyone.
Anyway, those high end brands, now, when I can actually afford them? Gone. Even here in the capital city where bankers and celebrities and politicians live. (I guess they might do all their shopping in delis or something - or have their staff do it? but still!)
I thought for years now it was just my area that's in decline, somewhere wealthier or posher or smarter within the UK would be better. But it really feels like the whole country to me now. And if even the wealthiest place in the country is struggling and standards there are going down, what's actually worth staying here for at all?

Hi! I’m going to London tomorrow. Is there anything you’d recommend me to visit?
I tried to be nice for once, had typed out a page-long guide where to exactly go and which routes to take. And then my browser crashed, so it's gone, it wasn't saved as a draft. So my niceness has expired for today.
I can tell you what not to visit, and that is 221B. I don't want fans breaking into my flat to steal my belongings and sell it on Ebay. Unless you have a case, then you can enter. Maybe there is a museum close by you could visist. Museums are always a good idea, my favourite is the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery, which are free to visit. The British Museum contains the Rosetta Stone, which is quite important if you know anything about history.
I don't know where they got the information, but somehow someone made a list of places where we solved crimes, so you could visit those.
I recommend to avoid places with high entry fees and long queues, just take a walk along the Thames. I recommend the south bank, as there are more places of interest. Start at the Tower of London (north bank), cross the Tower Bridge to the south bank, walk along until the Millenium Bridge, where the Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern are located. You can see the St. Paul's Cathedral on the horizon on the south bank. Continue west until the London Eye and the Palace of Westminster and the Clocktower (aka Big Ben for stupid people, although that's just the damn bell, people never learn). And go visit the Horse Guards or whatever. Buckingham Palace. Too lazy to give directions just use your damn phone.
Welcome to London.
