I'm trying to remember Lor'themar's activity in the game over the past few years that weren't Thalyssra-related, and I only can remember part of a quest in patch 9.2.5 in which Lor'themar participates in a couple of times, and a moment in the Amirdrassil, the Dream's Hope raid.

I get the feeling that the current Blizzards are simply trying to erase Lorthemar’s personality, his development, and now show him no longer as a politician, but as a husband-in-love. It's not that I'm against charming men in love, it's just that I want to see how he works, not how he dates Thalyssra.

I want to see him working. Show me economic discussions, reforms, business meetings and negotiations. Show me the cold, restrained Lor'themar, who proves his diplomatic skills with deeds.

It's easy to make Shaw to say that Lor'themar is a "master diplomat, and a shrewd negotiator", but how about demonstrating it?

OK SO UMM WTF LOR'THEMAR AND THALYSSRA GOT MARRIED?????

so for context I had a World of Warcraft OC (Lunastrasza) who I shipped with Lor'themar for years, basically wrote my whole fanfic around their relationship, and now that Lor is canonically married to Thalyssra...welllll....

Decided to write some angst ;u; sorry Luna

warnings: umm none really? mainly just like a breakup

It had been a while since Lor’themar had told her the news. In the years that had passed since their separation, Lunastrasza had agonized over his reasoning as to why they had gone their separate ways. Everything had seemed so perfect, from the beginning. They had been best friends in every way, so deeply in love with one another it was painful.

He had said it was because their lives had become too different and too difficult to navigate, his duties as regent lord taking most of his time, hers as dragonprincess keeping her away from Silvermoon, often for months at a time. In the rare bits of time they had been able to see each other, little to no words had been exchanged, often times just a small smile or a quick, breathless kiss before they had to be pulled away once again.

Lunastrasza knew he had a point, when he brought up what had been happening, but there was something else, too. Lor’themar had been in close conversations with First Arcanist Thalyssra of Suramar, and even Grand Magister Rommath had joked about the chemistry the two had. Thalyssra was a beautiful, kind, driven woman, dedicated to her people and their safety above all else. In the few times Luna had met her, she had noticed the way the First Arcanist and Lor’themar glanced at each other.

Luna had shrugged it off, played it off as something simple, that they merely were just getting along well because they were so much alike.

But it was when Lor’themar pulled Luna into his office to discuss their relationship, she knew.

Hearing him say that he felt they were no longer in a relationship of any sort, that they had grown too far apart, crushed Lunastrasza’s heart. But Luna knew it was also because his heart was being pulled in a different direction. When he was around Thalyssra, he was lighter, his smiles wider, his eyes softer. It was a side of him that Luna hadn’t seen for decades. She just wished she could have been the one to make him that happy again.

As much as Lunastrasza wanted to fight for their relationship, she knew it was no use. She had left Lor’themar’s office feeling hollow in her chest, tears pricking her eyes, her throat tight. Lor’themar had been her first love, they had been through so much together through the years, and yet here they were, drifting away from one another. She had endured nightmares about this and now that it had happened, the pain was so great she felt numb.

She rarely, if ever, went into the city anymore, instead sending her handmaidens for errands. She didn’t want to risk running into him and feeling all that heartbreak once again. She just prayed that Thalyssra made him happier than she did, as much as it pained her to think of.

Then she got the invitation.

It had been early one morning when a knock came at the door of the estate. Luna heard her handmaiden, Ansuja, allowing the visitors inside and showing them into the foyer. A pang of shock went through her spine when she suddenly heard Lor’themar’s voice echoing through the halls. She didn’t want to see him. She didn’t know how she would react upon seeing him, didn’t know how he would react upon seeing her. But she still slowly stood and made her way through the halls to the foyer of her home, where her former lover stood, still as handsome and glorious as a proud eagle on his perch.

To her surprise, he had come alone.

Lor’themar stared at her for a moment, clearing his throat as he nodded. “Luna, it’s…been awhile, hasn’t it?”

It took every ounce of restraint on Luna’s part to keep from spilling her emotions out in one giant ramble. Swallowing, she nodded, not meeting his eyes. “Yes. I’ve…been busy.”

It was a lie, she had been nothing of the sort lately, but she didn’t want him to know that she had been purposefully avoiding going into the city out of fear of seeing him.

He nodded again, brows furrowing. “You’ve been well, I hope?”

Lunastrasza chewed her lip. “Y—Yes. You too?”

“Yes, I’ve been great. That’s…actually why I’m here.” He reached into his pocket and produced a small, gilded card.

Luna’s heart sank into the pit of her stomach. She knew what it was before he even had a chance to speak, yet still took it from him with trembling fingers. Opening the card, she read the contents and her suspicions were proven correct.

Lor’themar and Thalyssra were getting married.

“I know…I know we didn’t exactly…end on the best terms, Luna,” Lor’themar said, rubbing the back of his neck. “But it would mean a lot to me if you would come.”

Luna was at a loss for words, she didn’t know what to say. Several moments of silence passed between the two, the only sound the very distant noise of Ansuja cooking in the kitchen.

“Luna?” Lor’themar ventured. He had noticed the look on her face.

Taking in a deep breath, she finally replied: “I’ll have to see if I can make it that day.” Her golden eyes were downcast.

Lor’themar took a step forward, unsure of what to say. He knew that him even being there must have been difficult, but he had wanted to deliver the card in person.

“…Does she make you happy?” Luna asked softly, her eyes finally meeting his.

“Yes. She does.” The regent lord replied.

“…Good. That’s…that’s good. I’m glad.” Luna said, feeling the inevitable tears pricking the corners of her eyes.

Lor’themar lingered for a moment, before nodding. “…I’m…sorry for barging in on you like this. You must be busy, so…I should go.”

As he turned to make his way to the door, he heard, in a small voice behind him: “I really loved you. More than anything. Maybe I still do. But…what I want more than anything is for you to be happy.  And if that means…me not being a part of your life anymore…then that’s alright.” Lunastrasza sniffed, wiping at her eyes. “You were my best friend, Lor.”

Lor’themar’s shoulders stiffened, and he exhaled heavily. He turned his head to look over his shoulder, his one green eye glinting slightly. “I loved you, too, Lunastrasza. But…I cannot deny what I feel for Thalyssra.” He paused. “…Sometimes things are not meant to be.” He turned and walked out the front door of the estate, shutting it softly behind him.

Luna nodded, the card still in her hand. She knew that as much as it hurt, she had to let him go.

Who is the better driver?

Lor'themar is the best driver, Halduron can drive, but is reckless, and Rommath is one of those angry dads that cuss the whole time they're in the car.

Who has better music taste?

Halduron probably has the best music taste, because he basically listens to anything. Rommath listens to Bach, exclusively, and Lor listens to Metallica and Queen, exclusively.

Who wakes up earlier?

Rommath, this mf barely sleeps

Daytime for two of them. Rommath would just rather not go on any dates because any time not spent working is time lost and wasted for him. But of course he lets them take him out every once in a while.

Halduron and Lor'themar on Rommath sides, their arms around him as if he would run away. (He would, he absolutely would, just to do some more paperwork)

Who is always cold and who is the human furnace?

I would say none of them get very cold most of the time, but Rommath, just like Kael, is naturally fairly -hot-.

What's something they've argued about?

Basically everything. Work, friends, free time. But most of their arguments end up with them laughing together at how silly the original reason actually was.

Who is the first to apologize after an argument?

Lor'themar apologizes first, with Halduron sometimes apologizing first as well. But Rommath barely ever apologizes if he believes his actions were justified.

What were their first impressions like?

Oh Rommath hated their guts. Two loud idiots.

Halduron and Lor immediatelly clicked the second they first met as kiddos. And both of them basically reacted to Rommath with distaste at first, seeing his cold and rude demeanor.

Do they have nicknames for each other? If yes, what are they?

Rommath affectionatelly calls the two of them idiot sandwiches.

Halduron calls them his "work husband" (Lor) and "work wife" (Rom), Rommath hates it, arguing that first, he isn't a wife and second, they are literally dating out of work.

Lor calls them his lover boys, beloveds, treasures and just overall a variety of pet names

Do they prefer hugs or kisses after a difficult day?

Rommath prefers kisses, their softness varying day to day.

Halduron prefers kisses as well, often showering both of his boyfriends in them.

Lor'themar prefers hugs and cuddles, hiding in his men's embraces after a long and demanding day.

What was their favorite date they've done together?

Regrettably, Quel'danas, at Kael's last resting place. Their group feeling whole again after all thst happened.

How do they feel about kids? Would/do they have them?

Rommath would always say he would never want kids, because they're annoying and distracting, but he wouldn't say no if he were to have them. And he would do everything in his power for the kid to have everything it needed.

Halduron wants kids for one reason or another, but he knows he isn't ready and most likely won't be ready for a long time.

Lor'themar would love to have kids one day and even feels like it might be the right time. But his job is too demanding to even consider the posibility.

What secret does only the other person know about?

They and recently Thalyssra are the only ones to know about Lor's worries and insecurities connecting to his aged appearance.

They're the only ones to know about Halduron's anxieties and all the pain he is hiding behind a smile.

And on a funnier note, they're the only one's to know Rommath has multiple cats at home he sneaks into his office and treats like his kids.

Who is more outspoken and who is more reserved?

Although Rom seems to be the quiet one at first but he is actually the most outspoken and eloquent out of the three of them.

How do they feel about marriage? Would they get married/are they? Who would/did propose?

Rommath used to hate the idea of being tied down by an "empty promise" but he is slowly warming up to the idea.

Halduron wants to be a pretty princess on his wedding day and is just really into the whole idea of having a wedding.

They know about everything with Kael and how much he meant to all of them, especially Rom. In a way, he is one of the things they can bond over.

Halduron: OH THE GUYS I WORK WITH? Yeah they're neat I guess... *giggle*

Rommath: The ranger general of Silvermoon and the lord regent? What a couple of dumbasses-

Halduron being constantly upbeat and chaotic.

Lor'themar being loud as hell when he speaks, the man has no idea how to whisper

Rommath not taking breaks and constantly nagging the two of them

They would bake together if they had the time

Rommath hates hunting, doesnt get it

Hal and Lor hate Rommath doing crosswords or reading when not working. They believe he should rest his brain instead doing all that.

Who gets the other out of trouble? Who gets them both into trouble?

Hal gets them into trouble, Rom gets them out of it (usually, sometimes the turns table)

Who is the dishes person and who is the laundry person?

Rommath would do the laundry and the two others would wash the dishes (unaware Rommath re-washes all of it later because he would die if it wasnt perfect)

Who cooks the most?

I know its hard to believe, but Halduron

What's their favorite meal that the other makes?

Rommath's favourite food Hal makes is ceviche and Lor's fave are Hal's bloodberry tarts

Who is better with money?

Rommath, hands down

Who would last longer in a zombie apocalypse?

If there was still magic, likely Rommath, if not, Lor'themar
