i fr need to get over my k*iri issues before kh4 comes out or im gonna be rolling in my grave in advance
#that gifset is so pretty but i see her and i automatically roll my eyes#go girl give us nothing!!#this is so mean... touch some grass girl . hating on a 2d character#i love ka*ri as a girl... my issue is that nomura never did anything for her as a character#i LOVE namine... i love namine for wanting to make a decision for herself and how that contributed to the plot. sure#i love xion.. and her issues and specifically her identity and wanting to find her own ground#kairi on the other hand... shes like noo haha.. maybe thats not for me... and then she comes back and becomes part of the problem#like girl...#i love creepy kairi hc's i love characters with personality.#the org characters have more depth than her and thats saying something#but then she has that pretty blue bg they use for all the dima arts and im like hm i gotta like her cause shes got this pallete#and characters w this palette always got a lot going on. color psych or smth idm#i love riku... rikus yellow and blue.. and then sora is red and blue so they both carry something of kairi with them#but im just being a little hater 😌👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩#kairi had SO much potential to be that girly girl character in a boys group which is always rare cause they always wanna make a tomboy out-#of the girl that plays with boys and that is so old news... but she couldve done it. and have her own views and not depend on them-#ans then they would all have their own journeys of self discovery and bettering their characters#like riku did with his darkeness and how sora is doing now in coming to terms with feelings and whatnot#kairi had her huge reveal of being a princess of heart..m but what did they do with that? they did nothing her character didnt improve shes#still a brat 💀#that scene in kh3 when theyre fighting in the keyblade graveyard is SO important to me because sora and her share this look of#of like... are you ready? and for once i was like yes... shes gonna fight. with her pretty keyblade and her pinky suit and shes a#shes a girly girl that fights and doesnt have to depend on the others... but thats not what happened#for her being the successor of aqua shes a whole lot like terra#if kairi had gone thru some norted route... i wouldve been content#she needs inner turmoil for her character to mean anything to the story#whats a character without conflict? theyre nothing theyre stale.#anyways 🚶‍♂️

Okok so I read in another post a hc of all the lookism boys (+ Yenna) living in a house together and i thought what if 👀 there was a den mother of some sort. Like an older little hispanic lady that sees them in her house and just decides that yes these are her kids and she will help them find their way back. Obviously Yenna is her favorite ans she can do no wrong. I haven’t caught up with Lookism completely (just htf and mk) but i feel like the unacknowledged mommy issues have potential. Only if you can of course if this isn’t something you can vibe with i totally get it.
Oh anon, you mean THIS PIECE OF ART from Ying/@mymxnfgh?
Anon, you really asking for WWIII with all these boys vying for your attention huh. Let's give this a go, I think I may be waaaay off the mark.
Lastly, I really wouldn't be able to write hispanic well. British? Yep. East Asian? Sure. So... just casually skipping over this part of the ask.
Lookism Boys living together + vying for your attention dynamics
Platonic. From least chaotic to most. Based on this hc from Ying/@mymxnfgh
Daniel Park and Jay Hong don't really have any mommy issues, so they stay away from the general chaos. They're the 'quiet' ones (especially Jay). You make sure to keep an eye on them so they don't get left out.
Honestly, absolute sweethearts. If you want anything done, then you know you can count on these two. Low-key your faves as they don't cause any headaches.
For Eli, Warren and Yenna, family comes first. And family is Hostel. They're initially guarded, but ultimately they're still children looking after a child. You have a lot of patience for them and take them under your wing, especially Yenna.
You spend a lot of time with Warren trying to help him with his speech, and you absolutely forbid Eli from cutting anyone's hair. You threaten if he so much as touch a hair on Yenna's head then he's dead.
DG is too cool to make any overt bid for your attention. Makes a lot of sly comments to try and sow dissent, but just gets on with his own thing. He gets more enjoyment out of watching the general chaos.
The subtle rivalry of Vasco and Zack would return. Vasco, thinking Zack is a bit of dick, and Zack would of course think of Vasco as an idiot.
Their rivalry is relatively harmless, but causes a lot of headaches day to day. They would fight over washing the dishes, but somehow break everything. Doing the laundry and everything is pink. Cook to impress you but nothing is edible. You appreciate their intentions but your life would be so much easier if they just left it to you.
What can we say about Johan. We all know what this guy would be like. He is THE mommy issues. Jealous that he doesn't get your undivided attention. Clingy and needy, constantly around you. Sulks and throws tantrums if he doesn't get his way. Luckily you have Zack, Jake and Daniel to tell him to be reasonable, and Gun who threatens to beat his childishness out of him.
Having you around as a constant, comforting presence eases Johan's psyche over time. It doesn't completely undo all the hardships but it's healthy for him to realise he has someone there for him.
Goo would absolutely try and pull rank over Samuel over who gets to spend time with you. Sammy is all smiles and 'Yes, Sir" but as soon as Goo turns his back, Sammy would be immediately sucking up to you.
They never seem to fight, but they constantly snipe at each other. The insults escalate from barely veiled to full blown expletives and cursing. It's surprisingly creative. "Samuel it's a good job you killed you dad and he's looking up at you from hell because you are a disappointment." "Goo, the smell of bullshit coming out of your mouth is putting Y/N off their dinner."
(Jake and Gun loves these exchanges)
Jake and Samuel would be politely smiling at each other one moment, and then trying to kill each other the next. It's less to do with you, and more to do with their own brand of communication.
Jake, on his own, you find simply lovely and Samuel has his charms. But together. JFC.
You do try and help them work out their differences. All this mess with Gangsters and Gapryong Kim but turns out that they would fight over anything. Even something as mundane as how to cook something the 'correct' way. It's easier for them to just duke it out. They always make up in the end... but inevitably will be fighting again in the next hour.
Gun and Goo are surprisingly helpful to have around to help keep some of the others in line. And it's not like they really have any mommy issues and they can be respectful.
Peace doesn't last though. They have a short fuse, and will use ANY excuse to fight each other. Jake and Samuel throwing punches is one thing. But you worry about Gun and Goo literally blowing up the house to spite each other.
Of course this is when DG decides to speak up and egg them on.
BONUS - Seo Haesu is the stray scruffy kid that seems to always be hanging around outside. You disapprove of his dirty clothes, his overgrown bangs (No, Eli. No scissors!), and feel bad for how he's constantly hungry. You offer him free meals and somewhere to sleep.
He's wary af as first. Uses the excuse that he wants to suss you out to hang around.
Would get on well with Zack, Goo and Jake. 'Well' might be an exaggeration, but these 3 have teasing big brother vibes. Their lively ways would help to draw Haesu out of his shell... or he might strangle them.

Message for 16th March ~*Archangel Azrael ~ Surrender*~
Death, like life, is constant. Everything in existence is constantly dying and being reborn – from the cells in our bodies to out thoughts and feelings, to the constant shifting cycles of nature. Like most aspects of nature, the human psyche also goes through larger cycles. The Earth has her days, nights, 28 day moon cycle, 12 month sun cycle just to name a few.
We also have cycles and more often than not they are in complete attunement to the natural cycles. Whether that be through day, night, the weather, seasons or astrology, we have cycles and rhythms that are in tune with nature, regardless of whether we choose to be conscious of it or not.
The part of the cycle coming up here is death. At this stage we deal with a release and a surrender. We must at this stage release some aspect of our life and our self. Beyond that we must release the ego; the part of ourselves that is attached to identity, to itself being seen, being right, the part that buys into the illusion of believing that we can ever truly know the unknowable. At this time a surrender must occur. A surrender to God, to life, to Great Mystery, the universe and the higher intelligence that exists in love.
Once this occurs, a new kind of freedom is achieved within the psyche and the spirit ans we become a clean slate for a new phase to begin.
A death phase can be exciting, terrifying, ecstatic, devastating, or even all of the above, depending on what is occurring for you. Humans are generally petrified of giving up the ego self. This is why we are afraid of death. But the ego must now be released in order to experience new life.
Ultimately, all that can be done is too process whatever feelings are coming up and surrender to this divine and natural cycle of consciousness. Inability to surrender will only result in this part of the cycle being a longer, more drawn out and difficult process than it necessarily has to be.
✨ Aurora's Love
Above all, a true sense of liberation now awaits you. A new phase. Change is occurring now, embrace and surrender to it.

Calcium List of K-Pop Worth a Damn Pt.1
Hello, my beloved mutuals.
It is I, Calcium, who has consumed way too much K-Pop and has opinions on which songs (and by extension artists) are actually worth a damn.
This is part one because there is so much K-Pop to sort through, so this is going to cover female artists whether groups or soloists. These songs range from bubblegum pop to rock, so I do not expect you to enjoy every single one on this list.
In case this breaks containment: Just because a song or artist is not on this list does not mean I think the song or artist is bad. Also, understand this was made specifically for my mutuals and mutuals only.
Important Language Note: When Romanized, the word 'you' in Korean translates to 'nega' and the word 'I' in Korean translates to 'naega'. When said very fast it sounds like the n-word. I promise it is not the n-word, they are saying 'you' or 'I'.
Now, without further ado, my recommendations!

Overall Artist Recommendations + Explanations
Apink: South Korea's music industry has a problem allowing their female artists to mature over time, but APink has a good blend between the bubblegum pop sound and some of the most beautiful vocals you'll ever hear.
BlackPink: This is going to be controversial, but I found them to be a good (metaphorical) gateway drug. I recommend listening to their first album The Album, but whatever you do skip Ice Cream.
Chung Ha: I cannot emphasize how much I love her entire discography. Most of the soloist listings would have just been her and Sumni if I wasn't self-regulating myself.
Dreamcatcher: Dreamcatcher has come to be known as "The Face of Rock in K-pop", and they deserve the title with the bangers they put out. Not to flex, but I've been a fan since their debut in 2017 and I'm not letting go anytime soon.
NewJeans: This girl group is inspired by 1990s-2000s pop, and it shows in the way everything they make is criminally catchy. If you want to feel like the beginning of a teen movie, they are the go to group to go to.
Sumni: She is my favorite soloist, and most of the soloist listings would have just been her and Chungha if I wasn't self-regulating myself.
That is it for part one, even though I know I am going to be kicking myself later for leaving out some songs but I hope my mutuals appreciate my list.
The next part will be boy groups and soloists. :)
Now to figure out where to cut this.

about the parallels between tad and peanut / romeo and juliet.
the first layer, the simplest and most immediate one- forbidden romance, rival factions.
like, neither of the two ever imagined what the other could ever mean to them until their streets really crossed and they met each other's real self and they knew, y'know.
speaking of eyes, we have met one key term. you might know that i'm completely obsessed with gazes, glances, eyes and so forth. i could attempt at doing a history of the concept of sight in literature, but i will just say: only know that in ancient greek the past form of the verb “see” is the same work used for “to know” (as in, “i saw, therefore i know”, not only with the physical eyes but especially the eyes of the soul. actually keep this in mind).
in shakespeare's play this is very important, since romeo understands that juliet sort of is his “soulmate”, so to speak, is when he looks her in the eye
sort of. unrelated but i beg you please read the ballroom scene it is one of the best pieces of poetry ever in modern literature it's so full of feelings and references and everything is so charged with meaning it consumes me daily
where i want to go with this is. that tad and peanut do antagonize each other, but when the occasion comes for them to see, therefore to know (see the note about the greek terms i mentioned before-i don't know how much shakespeare knew about ancient greek of course, but i do believe that the existence of the concept in itself must mean something about the collective mindset, ykwim?) each other's soul.
this allowing them to find in each other the mirror of so many of their insecurities and doubts and inadequacies and see all the mist that was holding them back dissolve. becuase then again they have soooo much in common alright, but they need to see it in each other to understand that they share so much ans find that connection.
and then there’s my favorite part, the one that made me fall in love with the play and made me reevaluate it completely from what i thought when i was a kid. to put it simply: love wins.
montagues and capulets are at each other's throats, rivals since generations to the point that they barely need a reason anymore. when romeo and juliet find each other, their connection literally jumps over that hatred, making them realize how senseless and harmful that was. when they die together, the two families come together in grief, finally erasing that line that kept them separate. i'm telling you, it's genuine love winning over the senseless hate, the violent ends to these violent delights that… end it, that's exactly it, allowing them to grow past that history of conflict.
now, of course greasers and preps have much more valid and complex reasons for their conflict, i don't think i need to specify that. but yet, in all their previous interactions tad and peanut have been marked by this hatred, not between individuals but between groups.
but when the moment we mentioned before comes, when they see each other, there's an understanding, a connection that leaps over that conflict, over their differences and the walls that nothing but the conditions they came to the world to put between them. they are unjust, and unfair, and rightfully one wonders why they should live each within these fences, why it is this hard to get out of them.
there's dangers, in following through with a relationship. there are obstacles and difficulties and it's like walking over a suspension bridge hanging on an abyss and armies at both sides. and yet, yet they decide to go on, to hang on tight to each other, just by virtue of that soul filling love and understanding that they find in each other, something so profound that becomes universal

Why a Shizuo Gaiden would be the best thing to happen ever
First of all, Shizuo’s character holds immense potential - much of which has not even been touched on insofar. His inner desire for peace and the way it contrasts his outward tendency to use violence when he encounters any problem or conflict is absolutely fascinating, and the dilemma that comes with wanting a quiet life and lacking the ability to regulate emotion (combined with superhuman strength) leaves SO much room for character exploration. Shizaya aside, Izaya and Shizuo have a very unique dynamic and they compliment one another so well that it would be a waste to throw that all away. I personally don’t like their final fight - it seems like lazy writing to me. Some may argue that it had to happen and a final fight was the logical conclusion of their rivalry, however this argument fails to consider the fact that neither Izaya nor Shizuo receive any valuable character development as a result of their fight. It is a lazy way of ‘completing’ their respective character arcs (which are inherently intertwined), and doesn’t provide us with any nuance or insight into their character. Izaya’s psyche has been explored in detail and he always seems to come across as the more ‘interesting’ or ‘mysterious’ one, I don’t personally believe this to be true however I can’t deny that he has received more substance in terms of the way that his psychology is explored throughout the series. This is definitely exacerbated by the fact that Izaya has received multiple spin off novels, therefore developing and exploring his character further. Shizuo certainly has complexities, and it wouldn’t be fair to say that he has been completely neglected, however I think there’s a lot that has been left unsaid, many questions unanswered, and a Gaiden would really help to flesh out his character a little more. I’m totally aware that what I’m about to say falls under the category of wishful thinking - however, I’d love to see Shizuo ans Izaya meet again. They have both grown since their fight, Izaya was able to accept that he lost because of his refusal to see Shizuo as human. Equally, Shizuo discusses the possibility of a friendship between him and Izaya with Celty, and although it is in retrospect, that is not something he would even dream of thinking years ago. They have developed and grown as people, and it would be truly fascinating to see a reunion between the two because, whether or not I think it will happen, i do believe that they could become friends or at least acquaintances. The seeds have been sewn, and while it is possible that Narita is utilising these attitudes as a means of character development alone, it still suggests that there is potential for a reunion. Unfortunately, I doubt that Narita has the balls to commit to a romantic narrative, especially since he has shown objective homophobia in the novels - it is likely that their reunion will be platonic. That is, if we get one at all. Shizuo holds a lot of anger at his strength, which manifests into a degree of self loathing because of his inability to control himself. The crux of his character arc is centred around the fact that he isn’t able to keep his anger to a manageable level. This is something that he needs to deal with before there is a possibility of opening up and truly letting others in. Learning to use his strength for good and channeling his anger in a constructive way is the development we need to see, but what we have been given so far is unsatisfactory. I don’t think that Shizuo’s ‘flaws’ must be totally corrected or addressed in order for his arc to be complete, since everyone is flawed to some degree (especially in Durarara) however it would be great to see him progress and develop in the areas that cause him the most pain. If we want to see a proper reunion between Izaya and Shizuo, Shizuo will need to mature in certain areas and gain more control over his abilities - else he will end up slipping back into his old ways. Thank you for listening to my insane ramblings once again but I just wanted to share some thoughts on why I’d love to see a Shizuo Gaiden

hi, dr. reames I was reading the above post and was struck by the fact that at one point, you commented that Alexandros was becoming increasingly disappointed with the land he conquered, but I can't help but wonder why he was disappointed? what did he expect to happen? I am very curious.
Alexander suffered from Conqueror’s Disease; today, we might say Colonialist Disease. He couldn’t understand why the people he conquered didn’t welcome him with open arms.
I don’t want to make this overly modern, so I’d point out the Persians he conquered had suffered from similar, although not every imperialist nation did. The Assyrians, for instance, didn’t care too much whether they were loved by those they conquered. They just wanted them to bow their necks.
Much has to do with the mythos—the narrative—the conquering people tell themselves.
Conquest was the way of things in the ancient world, where cultures were almost universally ethnocentric, dominated by a “Center-Periphery” mentality. Culture was the Center. The further from the center, the more alien, weird, and barbaric. Remember, barbaros was simply the Greek word for “not a Greek.” Barbaroi came in flavors both civilized and uncivilized (per the Greek view), but celebrating cultural diversity was not something ancient people did—no, not even Alexander.
That’s one of the problems with so many modern reads on him. He could be curious about other cultures, even enjoy and respect aspects of them--but he’d still be inclined to place them in a hierarchy, because that was the Greek worldview: “men … de.” On the one hand this…on the other hand that. The “men” is always superior to the “de.” For the Greeks, this hierarchy was typically understood in pairs (occasionally triads). So free…slave, men…women, Greek…barbarian, my-city-state…your-city-state, etc. Being curious about The Other didn’t mean treating them as an equal.
Alexander was, I think, better than average at understanding how other people thought. It’s what made him a good strategist. He could out-think, and therefore psych-out, his opponent. But again, that doesn’t mean he regarded The Other as his equal. His society had predisposed him to respect Egypt (to a point), and also Persia (to a point), but the more alien the areas he invaded, the more difficult that became. And even respect still didn’t mean considering them equal to Greeks (or Macedonians).
Let’s go back to the narratives of empire these various cultures told themselves.
True imperialism in the Meso-ANE basin arrived with the iron age. Before that, no regional state was strong enough to fully dominate far-flung neighbors. Yet Neo-Assyria, particularly Tiglath-Pileser III forward, turned previous “hunting grounds” into true provinces, getting as far as Egypt and Elam. Then came neo-Babylon, Achaemenid Persia, Alexander, Hellenistic Kingdoms, Rome, the Sassanids…etc. However, as noted, the Sargonids of neo-Assyrian didn’t give a rat’s ass if those they conquered liked them or not. Terror was state policy. Neo-Babylon did the same.
Cyrus changed that. He framed himself as a kinder, gentler overlord. Assyria might have ruled immense lands, but they’d also faced near-continual rebellion due to the harshness of their hold. Babylon had followed suit. Cyrus decided to flip the script, at least in the central areas. He was especially keen to be invited into Babylon, not take the city by force (probably as, for the time, its walls made it virtually untakable). Some of this “Kinder, Gentler Overlord” business was pure propaganda. I doubt Croesus considered Cyrus kinder or gentler. Nor did the Greek cities of the Asia Minor coast. And Cyrus lost his head (literally), trying to bring the steppe peoples to heel. That said, Persia created a narrative of consent to rule. “Blips” continued. Egypt regarded the Persians as snot-nosed upstarts and periodically rebelled, as did Asia Minor. Plus, areas along the Indus were only nominally under Persian control. At the center, however, the Persians (mostly) delivered on their promises to make life better via roads, trade, and protection from bandits—not unlike Rome later.
Nonetheless, as inheritor of prior ANE kingdoms, Persia adapted notions of what it meant to rule an empire, mixed with a healthy dose of their own ethnocentrism. A glass ceiling kept non-Persians from the highest offices, and the throne. Only a pure Persian could be mother to the next king. So although Greeks saw themselves as superior to barbaroi like the Persians, even civilized barbaroi, Persians felt the same in reverse. That’s important to recall.
The Greeks formed a different narrative of themselves. Although their culture owed no small amount to Lydia, Assyria, Phoenicia, Cyprus, Persia, and Egypt, after the Greco-Persian Wars, they developed a story of Greek Exceptionalism. They’d sent the mighty Persian Empire yelping home, tail between its legs! How did they do that? They were FREE MEN fighting the servile soldiers of a tyrant king, of course. They began to think of themselves as if they’d leapt grown and fully armed, like Athena, from the head of Zeus.
Of course the Greeks invented some cool stuff, of which I think critical reasoning is probably their most substantial gift in the west. Yet they very much wanted to make themselves out to be the Holders of True Culture, in contrast to the East. What they owed the ANE was downplayed, and A Little Thing Called Democracy led them (or at least Athens) to frame Greek freedom (eleutheria!) against the “tyranny” of Persia. This is more propaganda than reality, but it was picked up by the intelligentsia elite, not just politicians, and spread down even to the common farmer in the fields.
Alexander was an inheritor of this portrait. Philip had manipulated it to his own advantage with, I think, fairly clear eyes about the fact he was a king who planned to “liberate” the cities of Asia Minor from the “tyranny” of another king. Yet Alexander had been a student of Aristotle and was young enough to buy into the vision.
I don’t want to paint Alexander as unduly naïve, however. He was a king’s son and had no intention of turning Macedon into a democracy. Yet I think, to some degree, he believed his father’s marketing and assumed all the cities of Asia Minor wanted to be free of Persia. So, the resistance of Halikarnassos, et al., baffled him. For Halikarnassos, he chalked it up to an illegitimate king, rather than Ada, as rightful ruler. Tyre frustrated him yet again, but he saw them as opportunists. Gaza was run by a eunuch, not a “real” man….
Then—finally!—Egypt welcomed him with open arms! Their savior from the terrible, no-good, awful Persians! They knew how to flatter him, and had elected to choose their overlord; they knew he’d go away soon, and he seemed awed enough by the antiquity of their culture to treat them better than the Persians had…or at least he played it well on TV. 😉 The reality of his appointees’ handling of Egyptian affairs was less rosy. Kleomenes of Naukratis was apparently a monster and Alexander did nothing to fix it.
Babylon would also voluntarily submit to him, after the Battle of Gaugamela—in large part because Mazeus wanted to remain satrap of such a rich region. But, again, it played to Alexander’s expectations. Babylon, like Egypt, had wanted to be free of Persian tyranny! Of course they'd welcome Alexander as their savior. Susa resisted, but not that hard.
Persepolis was another story, but also a very specific case. He needed to send a message to Greece of “Mission Accomplished”—so he burned it. He was still at war with Persia at that point, Darius still alive. But later, after Darius’s murder and his own adoption of at least partial Persian ceremonial as part of his “King of All Asia” Schtick, he seemed puzzled as to why the Persians continued to resist him. That was then, this is now! I’m willing to treat you as my (almost) equals and share (somewhat) the rule over your own kingdom. Aren’t you glad?
Let me give a modern parallel. The average non-native American doesn’t get why American Indians, especially those from the plains, really hate Mount Rushmore. They tend to say things like, “But isn’t it an engineering marvel?” or “It honors our greatest presidents!” or “But you’re carving your own version with Crazy Horse!” (Yes, maybe as an answer to you jackasses who started messing with sacred land in the first place.)
The backstory that most don’t understand is that the Paha Sapa (Black Hills) are sacred land stolen for gold, which the US government then decided to carve with big white faces in the heart of Lakota land. It’s a gigantic Fuck You to Indian people that became a national park whose visitors tell us “to just get over it already.” As for those “great” presidents? Yeah, maybe Lincoln got the 15th Amendment passed, but he also gave away tons of native land—and go read up on the Dakota 38 he had executed. He looks a little less heroic. Ol’ Jefferson started the Indian Removal Act that Jackson would later implement, and Washington, when Indians inconveniently didn’t want to sell their land so the fledging US could move west, set about to “extirpate” them (his word). And oh, Teddy, yeah, he instituted National Parks, a number of which are direct steals of native sacred land (like the Paha Sapa). The only way that monument could be MORE insulting to indigenous America would have been to put Andrew Jackson up there too.
Alexander’s burning of Persepolis was an ancient Mount Rushmore. And he was just as confused that the Persians didn’t want to forgive him even years later.
As Alexander went forward from the spring of 330, this disconnect between how he thought peoples ought to welcome him, and how they actually did, just got worse—especially as he moved into areas only tangentially under Persian control.
The people he conquered didn’t welcome conquest, nor did they want his “civilizing,” thank you very much. Alexander hadn’t really tried to impose Greek culture on Egypt, nor Babylon, nor Persia. In fact, Alexander used both Egyptian and Persian royal style to help legitimize his reign as King of Asia. But who were these Baktrian barbaroi, and Sogdians…and Indians? Can’t they see our superior ways and submit to join the Grand Asian Empire of Alexander? When this generous offer is rejected—because the invader isn’t regarded as All That by the invaded—it’s a shock to the system of perceived privilege.
This is what I mean by Conqueror’s/Colonialist Disease. And the more successful Alexander became, the worse it got. He was thrilled when people trembled at the sound of his name, and then submitted. It was proof of his superiority. Early in his career, he was still involved in proving it, but by the time he’d reached India, resistance wasn’t a challenge, it was an insult. How dare they?
This is why he grew increasingly disillusioned and cynical. He was not being welcomed in the way he’d imagined. It led him to become increasingly vicious until terror became state policy for him, as well.

i had so much intimate and important information about myself and about how my mind worked and what i wanted and what i needed, and i thought a therapist would be lucky to experience my insight, and it would make them understand enough that they could fix me, and help them comprehend other traumatized people and help them too.
but no therapist was interested. they did not respect my self knowledge and my self expertise. they must have seen me as arrogant and probably laughed at my self importance and self assurance after i was gone. they didnt give a fuck. didnt want to hear it in some cases. refused to consider my boundaries and needs. and it made me less important to myself too. that and other things wore down my vicious self esteem and self love. these days i dont care about myself as much as i used to. and the abuse ans disregard i experienced is at least 80% of it. i dont feel that special or important anymore. and the way the interpersonal professional of minds kept treating me is a huge part of that. i used to look up to them and fantasize about their acceptance and approval. i needed them to save me and i was taught that therapy was the only way to be ok again. so i needed them. i needed them to listen. and i wanted that borderline magical relationship that is supposed to exist out there somewhere. once i found a therapist who really understood.
thats the way it was enveloped in the rhetoric and indoctrination and double think. repeated abuse and neglect and clownery but i still saw them as high professionals deserving of great respect, and desperately wanting and needing them on many levels even when they only took away, and being confused when the promise of progressiveness plummeted through the fucking floor. i was so confused. i just didnt understand why it was so bad and such a failure and such a waste and why they were so stupid and so ignorant. and i kept trying cause it was that or attempting suicide again and that hurt and was scary. i feel so so so sorry for my past self. doing all that Work frankly trying to teach those idiots how to treat me as a human being and failing cause they dgaf. and i was in hell and they were kicking my shins figuratively. just endless. when i say circles and dead ends, i mean going around and around and around and around and around and around and around and running into brick wall after brick wall after brick wall. being brutally honest immediately trying to get help as fast as possible. calling hotlines, adult protective services, waiting on hold sobbing, and just getting bullshit.
i tried therapy. harder than anyone should have to. i did 1000 times more work than all of my therapists did combined. and it all was a failure and a waste and added more layers of hell and pain. and i did not know what else to do. what else do you do when the acceptable line of Professionals of sufferring are clowns? and dying is really hard. scared of drugs. etc. and when you're a mentally ill person, its basically considered your responsibility/job/duty to get psychiatric help. and for those people for whom it fails, they are blamed with diagnosis and given worse treatments (one of my psychs told me ECT was coming up as one of my next possible treatments since nothing else did anything much). It is hell. and still i trudged on, and got abused even more. so yeah.

I'd love to know: 15, 8, 10
15. 📚 A fic you wish you could display on your bookshelf
(Am I allowed to say my own? Lolol. I would love to see HISL in print. With some edits, of course.) Hm, it might still be Misethere. Or Sugar by asuralucier, which has somehow edged ahead of Find Me when I think of canon companions to CMBYN.
8. 🥰 A fic that gives you warm fuzzy feelings
I read fic to have my heart ripped out and stomped on and only occasionally put back together again... But when I want to smile like an idiot, I read So Long Brother, What Have You Done to Me? by @osterra-n and avoir trente ans by @focusfixated. The second half of avoir trente ans in particular is just balm for the soul.
10. 👽 A fic that isn’t prose (poetry, text fic, etc.)
This was on LiveJournal back in the day. It was a Psych! Shawn/Gus fic that was mostly emails and possibly a transcript of a video. The premise was that Shawn and Gus were getting married (and also solving a murder). It was hilarious. I think about it often and consider it kind of formative (for kickstarting my interest in non-prose/found fiction—alongside Dracula, haha), but I haven't been able to find it again. If anyone knows the fic I'm talking about and has the link, please send it to me!
There's also Interlude (Rise Up) by Fahye, this incredible Hamilton/Everyone fic written in the style of the musical. The way it ends is just...immaculate.
